Can anyone please tell me how to enable Bluetooth on my Dell Inspiron 1720? I've been to the Dell Support site but found it useless.
I have the Bluebooth icon in Control Panel but it won't open so what's going on?
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a message on my hp laptop that the IR port on my computer is not enabled. How do I enable the IR port in XP? I would love to be able to sync my Palm wirelessly. Would be great!
Silly question, but is there a switch on your laptop to switch the IR on and off? Have a look.
Forgive me if this seems insulting, but when I've tried to sort out wireless issues on laptops before, the problem tends to be that the person hasn't got the switch set to "On".
I tried to enable bluetooth support services (winXP SP2, windows media center edition 2005), but I get a 1053 error. I'm trying to install MS optical desktop with bluetooth.
I recently purchased an asus f5gl laptop running vista OS and just now have needed to use bluetooth, but have found out that it has been disabled in system information. i would like to know how to enable bluetooth in BIOS or where ever i can?
does anybody have any ideas, any help is greatly appreciated.

my laptop keyboard broke down a while ago, as of now, i don't have extra money for me to be able to replace it. now im using USB keyboard only, since my current keyboard doesn't have a fn key in it, i can't open the shortcut for the bluetooth using the keyboard.
1. is there any other way to open/enable it without using the keyboard?
2. i also can't see the BLUETOOTH device in the Device Manager, is that normal?
**i can use my bluetooth before my laptop broke down. and i saw in another forum that if you cant enable the bluetooth physically, the windows will not detect it but the forum is abt windows tablet so im not sure if it also applies with laptops.

I have a Sony Vaio with a switch on the front that turns WIRELESS on/off. Whenever I turn the switch 'off', I get a pop-up box that says something like 'Alert: Wireless has been turned off'. The pop-up also had an option to turn off this notification. I turned off this notification a week ago but now i would like to turn it back on. I have been looking at a lot of settings on my computer but I don't know how to turn it back on.
Does any one know how to turn the notification back on?
Thanks in advance.
Hello and Welcome to 7Forums!
Try Right-Clicking the Taskbar>Properties >Customize(button)> And select the notification from there!
I have an HP Pavillion dv6t -2000. At one point I was able to use bluetooth. I had a hard time setting it up and I think it was when I eventually went into the setup menu before windows launched and enabled bluetooth device that it worked. Now it doesn't appear to have ANY options for me to configure my computer. There are boot options and an option to reset to default. I've tried both. Also, when I go to system information my bluetooth ID is blank. When windows launches in my wireless assistance there is no bluetooth to enable. I have also tried to download bluetooth drivers both from broadcom and from HP, but both tell me I must first enable my bluetooth device --- which is nowhere to be found. Please help. - Lexihttp://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/bluetooth-errors-unable-to-enable-659132.html
I go into bluetooth options,
I try and tell it to add a device, it says it is enabling Bluetooth. But then nothing at all happens. The message dissappears and it still says bluetooth disabled.
I upgraded the OS to 188.8.131.52
Any suggestions on how to fix this??
I want to transfer some files from my BlackBerry phone to my PC via Bluetooth. I've read that in Windows 7 the Bluetooth option is supposed to be in the control panel somewhere, but I didn't see anything. Anyone knows where it is and how to enable it?
Look in 'services' ... type services.msc in the start search box.http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/134778-where-bluetooth-option-windows-7-how-enable.html
Win 7 allowed this, but I can't figure out how in Win 10. I want Win 10 to "trust" my Galaxy S5 and automatically receive and save files sent by the phone. I send multiple files, usually photos, and having to go through all the manual steps for each picture is not working for me. I have Googled this and searched forums to no avail. Anyone know how to do this?
Hello and welcome to the forum
Have you enabled "Allow remote devices to browse, send and receive pictures, music and other files" in your Windows Bluetooth settings?
My bluetooth stopped working in my ASUS Q302LA. Bluetooth doesn't even show in the Settings>Devices in Win 10. In Device Manager, under Microsoft LE Enumerator, Properties, it states "Device cannot start, Code 10." I clean installed win10 and am getting the same result, which leads me to think it is a BIOS problem. Any ideas.
I can't seem to locate in control panel how to enable the bluetooth. I restored my laptop to factory a few weeks ago and haven't been able to use bluetooth since. Hi All I m a software developer and have created an application that uses both a web-based system and a Java application that launches from the web core using Java Web Start The Java part uses a third party library of TWAIN interface routines to theoretically use any scanner attached to the computer to scan documents which it then sends to the host application via FTP This works rather well with Windows XP but today I encountered my first case of a Vista-based system and was unable to get my Java-based app Enable Vista? in TWAIN to see the scanner s TWAIN driver I did some research and it sounds as if Vista doesn t use TWAIN per se but wraps the functionality in the Windows Image Acquisition WIA protocol Can anyone tell me if it s Enable TWAIN in Vista? possible to expose the TWAIN drivers so that my application can recognize them I find it disappointing that Microsoft appears to have abandoned TWAIN which has long served to tie together the wildly disparate capabilities of different imaging devices under one standard Thanks in advance Mark P S I was dismayed to see that this site contains ads purporting to scan my system for viruses My Mac just smirked at this but I ve seen a lot of PC end users duped by this insidious kind of social engineering nbsp

I installed XP on one computer and Vista on another computer. How do I enable wireless on both these computers? Someone suggested that I install the wireless network drivers for these O/S's from the computer company (Gateway) that I bought the computers from. But, Gateway is asking that I pay for that support. How can I install the needed drivers to enable wireless on these computers without going to dumb Gateway?
Download them from the net...http://www.vistax64.com/network-sharing/190500-how-do-i-enable-wireless-vista-xp.html

Hello nickig105 and welcome to the forums
Can you do the following for me please:
Please download CKScanner from here to your Desktop.
Make sure that CKScanner.exe is on the your Desktop before running the application!
Double-click on CKScanner.exe and click Search For Files.
After a very short time, when the cursor hourglass disappears, click Save List To File.
A message box will verify the file saved
Attach the log CKFiles.txt that has been created on your desktop with your next post
Download and install MBAM from here
Run a full scan and attach the log with your next post for me to analyse
Download OTL to your desktop.
Double click on the icon to run it. Make sure all other windows are closed to let it run uninterrupted.
When the window appears, underneath Output at the top change it to Minimal Output.
Under the Standard Registry box change it to All.
Check the boxes beside LOP Check and Purity Check.
Click the Run Scan button. Do not change any settings unless otherwise told to do so. The scan wont take long.
When the scan completes, it will open two notepad windows. OTL.Txt and Extras.Txt. These are saved in the same location as OTL.
Please copy (Edit->Select All, Edit->Copy) the contents of these files, one at a time, and post it with your next reply.
Once OTL has completed its first scan it will save notepad copies of the scans in the folder that OTL was started from. Unless set to produce an Extras log it will only produce OTL.txt in subsequent scans.
A copy of an OTL fix log is saved in a text file at
in most cases this will be C:\_OTL\MovedFiles
Please attach both OTL.txt and Extras.txt with your next post for me to analyse
1. Open the start menu
2. In the search box, type cmd
3. Right click on cmd and select Run as administrator
4. In command prompt, type:
5. Let it run and let me know if it finds any Integrity Violations

#1 Click on Start and then Control Panel.
#2 Click on the System and Maintenance link.
Note: If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, you won't see this link. Simply double-click on the Device Manager icon and then proceed to Step 4.
#3 In the System and Maintenance window, click on the Device Manager link near the bottom of the window.
#4 look under "Sounds, video and game controllers" you should see Creative Audigy with a red X, right click it and enabled it.
Hello. I recently reformatted my hp pavillion dv8330us laptop to clean off some trojans and adware. The laptop was windows XP home edition, but I decided to upgrade it to vista. When I was installing XP (since the vista was the upgrade version) I had to switch off SATA in order for windows to detect my hard drive. I then installed Vista and all works well, but I cannot enable SATA because I lack the drivers, but I can't install SATA drivers either.
Is there a solution to this problem without reformatting again and putting the drivers on a floppy? I don't have an A: drive and would prefer not to buy a plug in one if I can. Also, will it matter that much not having the SATA enabled?
SATA must be working; how would your drive work? I think what you are referring to is ahci which is a mode of sata operation.
As to whether or not it helps, I have benched systems with native ide and then using the same system with ahci. In every case native ide was slightly faster; not by much however it was faster.
You do understand that you can do a clean install with the vista upgrade disk correct? Vista would see your ahci mode sata without a problem so I would just clean install using the upgrade disk. Note this is a somewhat involved process so post back if you need detailed instructions on how to do this task.
Next if your really really must have ahci, there is a method of changing over without a reinstall. I have never done this so I cannot tell you if it works or not.
Has anyone had any problems enabling VISTA file sharing? Here's what is happening:
1. Control Panel
2. Network and Sharing Center
3. Click dropdown arrow for "File Sharing"
4. Select radio button for "Turn on file sharing"
5. Click Apply (UAC is turned off)
Nothing happens!! File sharing is still "Off".
I'm having the exact same problem with "Network Discovery".
Go into the Windows Firewall properties and under the exceptions tab, ensure Network Discovery and File and Printer Sharing have a tick next to thier names.http://www.vistax64.com/network-sharing/206885-vista-file-sharing-unable-enable.html
Initially, there 3 network connection in my laptop which are cable LAN, bluetooth, and wireless. But unfortunately ,I viewed full map in network connection window and its the Cable LAN is disabled by default.
Network mapping is disabled by default on domain networks. Your network administrator can use Group Policy to enable mapping.?
So, i typed "gpedit.msc" in run command. But the vista home basic don't have feature of group policy as i known. Unaccessible to group policy...
In Vista I want to Enable the drag and drop feature. I just can't find the area to do this in. Currently I cannot drag and drop anything anywhere in Vista... but I want to.
I've seen it but now I can't find it.
Anyone know how I can accomplish this?
Thanks for any suggestions.
P.S. I've checked Folder Options and have not see it in there.
I have a QOSMIO G20, and I put on him, with a very hard work, WIDOWS VISTA ULTIMATE.
Everything are working ok, just one thing make me troubles... I have a Gforce GO 6600 Graphics Card and when I want to enable MULTIPLE DISPLAYS, don?t want to detect my TV.
I try to change driver, but Vista say NO, THIS IS THE BEST DRIVER.
I try to change all the options from control panel of NVIDIA...nothing!
Please, I need of some help! Maybe my graphic card is damaged? Is too old?
When I connect laptop with TV, I have sound on TV, but no image.
Any ideas are welcome and I thank you!
>... and when I want to enable MULTIPLE DISPLAYS, don?t want to detect my TV.
Can you please describe to us what you want to do exactly and how do you do this?
Is some application running when you try to use multiple displays?

I have been trying to enable a security policy on Vista Home Premium. When i set the policy up in the mmc under the security template snap-in, it saves as an .inf file.
When i use the security configuration and analysis snap-in and try to open a database it wants a .sdb file.
What can i do to enable my security policies?
I have an HP Pavilion dv4. Whenever I'm in the Vista logon screen, the volume controls are disabled. There are a row of touch sensitive controls at the top of the computer -- volume and wifi. Tapping the wifi will toggle it on and off, however, tapping mute produces no effect. The volume control works fine when I'm logged in. How do I change this so I can mute the computer when I'm not logged in (for example, computer is locked)

I'm using two windows in my PC
Vista Ultimate and XP SP2 (Both 31-bit)
I enable this feature in XP by adding "\PAE" in boot.ini in XP,
but in Vista there is no boot.ini file,
so how can i enable this feature in Vista,
Ya my processor, motherboard & both windows support this feature
This Microsoft KnowledgeBase Article discusses PAE and Vista.Supposedly, you can enable PAE in Vista by running "BCDEdit", the boot configuration editor that is included in Vista. You should run this in "administrative mode".Typing "cmd" in the "start" "search" space, and press Ctrl + Shift + Enter. This runs "cmd" in Administrator Mode. Then type - "run" Type - BCDEdit /set PAE forceenableOf course, if your system didn't meet the requirements shown in that KnowledgeBase article, it won't work.Let us know if this helped, OK?Oh, it appears that "BCDEdit /deletevalue PAE" should remove the command, again, at the Admin level.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/93761/how-can-i-enable-physical-address-extensionpae-feature-in-vista/

My question is how do i enable digital cable in windows vista - Media Center?
I have 2 Tv Tuners:
1) 1250 Hauppauge &
2) TV Wonder™ Digital Cable Tuner (with a cable card slot built in).
Both cards work fine for the standard channels 1-99. i want to be able to see all the channels i pay for using the cable card in the TV Wonder™ Digital Cable Tuner.
The problem is that windows media center is shipped with analog cable enabled and digital cable disabled. So when i go to view any channel greater than 100 windows alerts me that "You cannot activate digital cable. you computer is not digital cable enabled and cannot be used with a cableCARD"
i'm in search of how to switch this (maybe a bios issue?) so that i "Enable Digital Cable"
I have been having a lot of trouble getting my Motorola HT820 to connect to Vista Business. It always connects when it should, but rarely plays any audio. I used to be able to fiddle with it and get it to play, but now I can't seem to do it anymore. It still says it connects...
I'm using the basic broadcom drivers and the built-in vista bluetooth functionality.
I'm using Vista Business x64, a broadcom (not sure which model--it's connected to a USB port inside my case and I don't want to get at it right now...) bluetooth dongle and a Motorola HT820 stereo headset.
Is there a 3rd party program that will help eliminate this problem? Does anyone have any suggestions on this?
I am having some difficulty connecting a printer with a bluetooth adapter (HP Mobile 460) to my computer. I believe the reason is I see no option to activiate bluetooth on my PC. I have searched under Control Panel for a bluetooth icon and under services to see if I had to start the bluetooth service. However, I find no way in which to determine if bluetooth is "on" on the computer.
Can anyone assist?
Sorry for the stupid question but I wanted to know if Windows Vista 64 natively supports bluetooth ?
My bluetooth dongle adaptor is a BCM2045 and it comes with a software called Blusoleil, but I didn't want to install 3rd party software to control my bluetooth devices.
When I plug it in, Windows try to find a driver but can't find it. If I install the software that came bundled (blusoleil) it works fine. But then I need to use this software to control devices.
Doesn't Windows have a built in bluetooth software to control devices ?
Any help apreciated.
I checked my system and I don't have the bluetooth logo icon on device manager or in control panel. Shouldn't vista come with it's own bluetooth support ? Or I will always need blusoleil to make my bluetooth work ?http://www.vistax64.com/drivers/201576-vista-64-bluetooth.html
I've found a mouse that really feels good (Microsoft Wedge) and it uses Bluetooth.
The problem is every time I turn off the CP when I turn it back on I've lost the connection.
I have to go back into the control panel with a different mouse and add the Wedge again.
I contacted the Microsoft Tech people and they're not much help so I'm wondering if anyone here knows how to get my laptop to connect automatically on start-up?
Right now I'm thinking maybe a USB dongle might stay connected.
I got the answer from amazon.
The trick is to not turn off the Microsoft Wedge Mouse but just take out the battery.
Weird...but it works.
I have read a lot in many different forums about Vista's Bluetooth support but I must admit to still be very very confused I have a few questions that would be really helpful to me if someone could answer thanx My system was installed with the original Vista x SP DVD All updates were installed after that Can Vista x SP support a bluetooth headset without rd x64 SP2 Bluetooth & Vista party software ie no BlueSoleil or Widcomm I understand that Vista x64 SP2 & Bluetooth this is dependent on chipset but I'd like to understand which chipset doesn't require the rd party software I have seen on some forums that it can Vista x64 SP2 & Bluetooth like the Belkin FT I have an MSI dual net card with USB device USB VID DB amp PID amp REV which can be forced to install as MSI Bluetooth Device Vid db pid and this seems to work OK It allows devices to be found in Vista's Bluetooth Devices window It can also be installed using MSI's driver which performs identically When I connect a headset it show's the capable profiles as Bluetooth Peripheral Device and it will not use any built-in Vista profiles Why From what I've seen in other places Vista's built-in profiles should be used What is the difference between BlueSoleil's and Widcomm's profile drivers once the actual Bluetooth device is installed Shouldn't the profile drivers for Vista use the same API and be disconnected API-wise from the actual hardware Thank you Nachum Kanovskyhttp://www.vistax64.com/drivers/263422-vista-x64-sp2-bluetooth.html

After googling a bit it seems this is only intended to be possible after you have windows loaded then there are commands you can run to activate the Admin account at login screen.
However I can't get past the login screen because my customer forgot the password. Format & reinstall of Windows is to be used only as a last resort per her instruction. The Administrator account password is probably blank, I just can't log in with it.
I have an idea... what if I take the hard drive out and access the files using a another computer? Is there a way to edit the registry or enable the Administrator account at welcome screen by modifying those settings via direct manipulation of the files?
I usually use Windows Key Enterprise for this, has cleared passwords in something like 7 of 8 cases. Unfortunately it gives an error about a corrupted registry or something in this case. :(
Just tried NTpasswd which is supposedly the best for resetting Vista passwords, but it fails to mount the partition correctly. For some reason it is reporting as FAT16 even though it is almost certainly NTFS. The program attempts to mount FAT / FAT32 etc. then of course fails. Googling suggests the only way to fix this would be a MBR editor (extremely risky) to change the reported partition type from FAT16 to NTFS... Last week Windows Update downloaded Vista 64-bit SP2 update. I installed it, everything went fine until after the restart and boot-up. I went to do something, anything, and my mouse and keyboard would not work!
My mouse and keyboard are from the Logitech 5000 series of wireless hardware that connect through a bluetooth dongle via USB port. So, I pretty much couldn't do anything but stare at my desktop or shut down my computer via case.
I looked online, found an alleged fix for this here. I borrowed somebody's usb mouse, system restored, and installed this before trying this week to install SP2 again, but that didn't help at all.
The computer I'm using is a desktop, so I can't really do anything once I upgrade to SP2. Again, I'm running Vista 64-bit SP1 using a custom built computer (only 1.5y old), all parts are compatible afaik.
Any help resolving this issue is greatly appreciated!

I want to know how to turn off bluetooth in windows vista.
thanks in advance
i have a ericsson bluetooth headset which i could get to work with xp by installing a bluetooth package called "btsw" from the internet. However in vista ultimate 64bit i installed the 64bit version of the drivers but it still doesnt recognize any bluetooth device, any ideas?
I'm using a Asus pro50N with built in Bluetooth.
If I have a Nokia phone nearby, Vista has a little spit and wants to download the bluetooth drivers.
Fair enough, except Nokia PC suite is already installed.
Is there a set of generic bluetooth drivers that I can download and install so my lapatop won't send Vista searching.
I've got a very frustrating problem in the form of bluetooth with vista. I installed my dongle with the Widcomm drivers, all was fine, i rebooted, put it in...icon goes blue and white as if all is well then...nothing. totally frozen screen (have to hold in the power button to turn off)
So i try all different usb ports, same problem.
So i try a different dongle, same problem.
So i try different drivers (toshiba and bluesoleil), same problem.
im totally stumped, with different drivers and dongles where is the problem?!
Thanks for any help, Leigh
Did you use Vista Drivers?
My Widcomm Bluetooth was not compatible with Vista and I had to buy one that was.
im having problems using my belkin bluetooth with vista, it says cannot find driver, i have downloaded the driver from the belkin website that they recommended by still no joy still says cannot find driver for belkin vista compatibility
ive been trying to get bluetooth to work on my "ASUS Notebook F5GL Series" with vista. I cant seem to get it working. there is no bluetooth icon in the taskbar, and i go to control panel, hardware and sound, down to bluetooth and click bluetooth settings but nothing happens, i also click add a wireless device but it doesnt find anything, my brother has a laptop running XP and his bluetooth is working fine. i have asked him but he has no idea about it. I was wondering if anyone knew what to do?
Is there anyway to completely reinstall the Bluetooth stack from scratch? I have a Sony Vaio with embedded ALPS-UGPZ9-BCM2046 bluetooth, using the Sony supplied Widcomm 184.108.40.2060 software, that will not detect any new bluetooth devices. There are 2 old devices showing in the My Computer but not appearing under Bluetooth Devices and a couple of unknown bluetooth peripheral devices trying to install that (from there ID's) I take to be the services assigned to these old devices. How can I get rid of these or better still reinstall the Bluetooth back to factory setup? I have tried removing all bluetooth devices & software and then rebooting & reinstalling but everything comes back as was. I also cannot install the Widcomm update as it hangs on detection and states that it cannot upgrade my software.http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/267304-vista-bluetooth-rebuild.html

Bluetooth Stack Installation Guide
This document instructs users to replace the Bluetooth Stack.
Note: "Bluetooth Stack" is a name commonly used to describe the driver
and apps used to control Bluetooth devices.
Before replacing the Bluetooth Stack, please make sure that either "Bluetooth
Stack for Windows by Toshiba" or "Microsoft Windows Bluetooth Stack" is
not running on your machine.
If you are using Bluetooth Devices (BT Mouse or keyboard, for example) be
advised that they will not be available while you are upgrading or switching
To use Microsoft Windows Bluetooth Stack, Bluetooth Monitor 4 is required
to turn on/off the power on the Bluetooth module. This application is not
required if "Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba" is used.
[Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba -> Microsoft Windows Bluetooth Stack]
1. Open the Programs and Features under Control Panel and uninstall
"Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba", which is currently installed,
and then reboot your PC.
2. Install "Bluetooth Monitor (BtMon4Inst.exe)" software from the
3. "Microsoft Windows Bluetooth Stack" will be installed automatically.
Open the Control Panel and open "Bluetooth Device" to configure the
settings (to display the Bluetooth icon to the task bar, open "Options"

[Microsoft Windows Bluetooth Stack -> Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba]
1. Install "Bluetooth Stack for Windows by Toshiba Vx.xx.xx" from
the Recovery Media or Application Installer.

Hi, I have a Toshiba laptop running Vista. Is it possible to get Bluetooth functionality on it without a Bluetooth dongle, i.e. by downloading some software? If so, would you please tell me how?
Since Bluetooth uses radio waves unless your laptop supported Bluetooth when you bought it the answer is no. You require a dongle or aerial.
What model is your laptop?
can someone please guide me how to install my bluetooth dongle in my vista laptop. I just bought it this morning and I cant make it work with my motorola headset. check the documentation for your laptop to see if there is a enable/disable key for bluetooth.http://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/243700-bluetooth-installation-vista.html
I'm trying to make a stereo bluetooth headset work on my HP Vista32 Desktop.
I can pair it, then connect it, the device changes from speakers to the headset in my "Playback devices" window, but I get no audio through the headset. After about a minute, the playback devices changes back to my speakers
and the headset shuts off.
I've checked all of the drivers in Device Mgr...all are installed and working properly. I've also done
attempted updates on all of the involved drivers. I get messages saying the drivers are up to date in all cases.
It appears that the drivers (Blue radio & enumerator, headset in sound, video and game controllers) are installed
correctly, but the audio channel is not cut through.
Has anyone had in experience in this problem???
I use a small program called keep alive to stop my headset turning off during breaks as when it restarts I was loosing a couple of seconds sound

Is it possible to disable/re-enable or hide/unhide Start Menu in Windows Vista via registry, using VB6 or at least disable/re-enable all items in (shortcuts and everyrthing else in Start Menu) in order to exclude starting of ANY program via contents of Start menu in Vista while my own application is active?
Could it be possible to disable/re-enable "Windows" key or any combinations of keys such as "Windows" + "Esc" via registry, using VB6?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Hello Vnaz235, and welcome to Vista Forums.
I'm not sure what you mean by the first question. Did you want to stop a startup program from running?
This tutorial will show you how to enable/disable all Windows Key keyboard shortcuts.
Hope this helps,

Did you find anything? I am having the same problem with the exact same laptop.
I have an Anycom CC3032 bluetooth device..
I have this on two different Vista x64 machines, they both no longer work.
The device lights up, even shows up in Device Manager fine and dandy, but in Control Panel.. Bluetooth.. Hardware tab.. nothing shows up.
i've tried adding/removing the adapter to no avail.
Has anyone run into this.. i find it hard to believe that both adapters could be bad, I'm suspecting a windows update hosed things?
This is not a serious problem but it is an annoyance and I would like to better understand why driver can't find a Vista Bluetooth it happens Any help would be appreciated I'm running a Dell Inspiron with Vista Ultimate I recently had to reload Vista clean I've Vista can't find a Bluetooth driver got everything about back to normal However I keep getting a quot Found New Hardware Window needs to install driver software for you Bluetooth Peripheral Device quot message every time I start up Here's the catch my BT works fine The BT icon shows in the system tray My BT Logitech MX keyboard and mouse work fine My BT link to my Blackberry works fine So BT is working If I use the dialog box to locate the missing driver it cannot find it on my PC When it goes on line it finds a Dell BT driver that will not load I know the simplest thing is to just select 'Don't show this message again for this device ' But I'd like to understand why this happening BTW I think this is related to my keyboard The original disks are long gone Gary IMG file C Users GARYBE E AppData Local Temp moz-screenshot png IMG IMG file C Users GARYBE E AppData Local Temp moz-screenshot- png IMG
The system is set up to continue to inform you until you actually install or indicate that you are not interested. I think the best way is to hide the update notice.http://www.vistax64.com/drivers/274202-vista-cant-find-bluetooth-driver.html
I have been researching this for awhile and still haven't come up with any solutions.
I have Vista Ultimate 64bit that lets me install the Microsoft Bluetooth Enumerator which is considered a 32bit driver from Broadcom. It sees my headset which is a Southwing SA505 and it even conects to it then immediately disconnects.
I have tried everyting I can think of what I need is a step by step guide to get this thing working.
i just got a jawbone bluetooth and i managed to pair it with my laptop and so it shows as conneted but when i want to play some music or anything else on vista it can not be heard on the bluetooth, any idea or suggestion?
Have you installed the drivers? You may require Vista-specific drivers.
I have a laptop and I thought it had a bluetooth system installed and I have a windows vista system and my laptop is a gateway do I have to buy an adapter or can you install the bluetooth on this computer by downloading it to this laptop.
If your computer does not have bluetooth hardware installed, you can buy a fairly small adapters that plugs into a USB port.
So I got a bluetooth dongle (Veho VB-5881) so I could use my bluetooth headphones with my laptop. For some reason its not working but in trying to make it work I installed all kinds of drivers from Toshiba, Broadcom and the Sony website. None of this has worked and to be honest I'm sick of it so I'm giving up. So can anyone help me in removing all the drivers I've put in?
Some should be removable from add and remove programs.
The emasculated Vista Bluetooth stack has been the subject of ongoing debate since Vista's inception, and now it continues with Windows 7. (I multi-boot and I see the same issues in both OS's). The question has always been, why did Microsoft castrate their own stack and make it so difficult to use 2 different stacks simultaneously?
It worked fine in XP where I actually had 3 Bluetooth dongles all up and running....!
I'm using the Microsoft Wireless Entertainment Keyboard & Mouse which use a v3.0 transceiver. It works fine if it's the only receiver.
My new PC also has a 28-in-1 media card reader w/Bluetooth (v2.0) in the 3rd optical drive bay, and I have to disable its driver or Microsoft gets all upset and wont come out and play. The reader uses Broadcomm drivers.
Has anyone got suggestions on this dilemma? If I can get them both to work together in Vista then I can do it in Windows 7...I hope.
I hope I have the right forum here I have a Dell Inspiron that I recently clean installed windows vista on after getting a bad Trojan Horse Since the clean install I've been unable to send pictures from my phone via bluetooth to my computer I was able to do this before the Phone Cell Bluetooth and Vista clean install I have quot allow bluetooth devices to connect Vista and Cell Phone Bluetooth to this computer quot checked as well as quot allow bluetooth devices to find this computer quot My phone also shows up in my devices under network and sharing bluetooth I have everything set up My phone is paired with my computer Vista and Cell Phone Bluetooth but when I try to send a picture from phone to comp via bluetooth I get the message on my phone quot transfer failed quot I also have NIS on this laptop and connect through a wireless router The only difference from before the clean install as far as the router is concerned is that I now have the router secured using WPA- I have no idea if that would effect bluetooth at all but I would assume not Any ideashttp://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/vista-and-cell-phone-bluetooth-397140.html
I'm using the latest Bluetooth driver update from Broadcom on my Acer Aspire 5920 but still can't get my Sony Ericsson Bluetooth Stereo Headset HBH-DS970 to work properly.
The device is paired allright but when I try to play some music it starts for a second or so and then interupts.
This seems to be a known problem on Vista and I wonder if someone here figured it out yet how to make it work.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated,

Hi,I have a Nokia 2630 telephone, and I am looking to transfer some pictures between the phone and my laptop. To this end, I bought the following USB bluetooth adapter:http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/USB-Bluetooth-Adapte...3166216fff75a10When I pair my telephone with my computer, everything is fine until the very last stage when it comes to installing a driver. I am prompted to insert the CD I got with the bluetooth adapter. One problem: I did not get a CD. As the e-bay listing says, it is plug and play.I was wondering if anyone might be able to suggest where I might download a good driver from? I have heard there are issues with Windows Vista and bluetooth drivers. For the record, I have windows vista SP 1.Nick Rabbitts
This device is supposed to be plug and play.
As per the specs given on that page you linked us to.
?No drivers required for installation (plug 'n' play)
?Plug 'n' play support with Windows XP(Service Pack 2 update). And Vista.
Therefore the device should not be asking for a disk.
Since I am not totally familure with this device, the only thing I could suggest is, if it is not working properly, then maybe it needs a file from your Vista disk.
Sorry I am not much help, but since I do not know the brand name of this device, it would be hard to locate a driver web site for it.
I have a belkin wireless bluetooth dongle, model number F8T003 ver.2 but apparently it does not work with Vista. I am baffled as to why it would work on XP but not vista surely there must be a driver to fix this? Belkin website says not supported? but most of their products that say XP work with Vista so why not this?
Any help appreciated as belkin technical support are closed for the weekend.
An error occured while windows was saving your setting. The bluetooth device might be unplugged.
I have spend hours trying to follow advice from the different forums.
Uninstalled the software and Windows loaded its own drivers but system wouldnt pick up devices, one I want to connect with is HP C4583 wireless printer.
Reinstalled Toshiba BT stack and am back to square 1. Moment you put a tick in the box to allow bluetooth devices to find this Toshiba Qosmio X300 BT service error message appears.
What to do now?
I have Vista Home Deluxe on a Sony laptop.
For some reason a Windows Bluetooth install process kicks off each time I boot the laptop. The install pop up window appears and eventually closes without any confirmation required.
How can I get rid of this?
Go to start menu and type msconfig in the search box. When the configuration utility opens up go to the start up tab and look on the list for the bluetooth application and remove the check mark then reboot.http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/vista-bluetooth-install-pops-up-every-time-425613.html
I just got a BlueAnt Z9 bluetooth headset that I want to work with on Skype and such, but Vista will not install the proper driver for it. I also got a surround sound system (Samsung HT-Z310) w/ bluetooth that I wanted to use for audio also. However, Vista will not install the drivers for either component.
Both devices "pair" with the computer fine, but it will not go the next step and finish installing the drivers. They both will appear on device manager with an "!" next to them. I have tried running Windows Update, manually updating the driver, and a few other things, but to no avail. Does anyone have an idea of how to get these audio devices working? ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

My Bluetooth always worked fine, untill I did a Vista upgrade.
After fixing the usual problems that people expirience after the upgrade (sound stops working, issues with automatic downloads, etc.) I now realize that I can not get my Bluetooth to work.
It is still built-in to my computer.
Yet, I don't have the icon in my system tray to activate, nor does it show up in Control panel.
When I right-click a file to "send to", there is an option "Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard" instead of the regular Bluetooth icon.
When I click "Bluetooth File Transfer Wizard", I get a message "fsquirt.exe can not be found".
How can I get my Bluetooth working again?
That appears to be a standard problem when you upgrade and is very hard to fix, the easiest way is to use your upgrade disk to do a clean install. But go to your Dell site first and download all your Vista motherboard drivershttp://www.vistax64.com/general-discussion/168196-after-vista-upgrade-bluetooth-stopped-working.html

I have the same problem as an old thread to which I couldn't find a reply. I have the same mouse and the same laptop and system:
HP Pavilion dv4 series Laptop, Vista Home Premium, 64 bit. While installing MS Wireless Presenter Mouse 8000, Laser I encountered a window saying "HID DATA has stopped working. A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly". First the message came up every time I turned on the computer and the mouse still worked, but now the mouse does not work at all. I've tried all of the suggestions from HP help and support including installing updated drivers, but my laptop is brand new so this doesn't seem to be the problem.
Any more suggestions?
Hi I am seeking some assistance or advice with the above problem. Prior to resetting this laptop (Acer Aspire3680) the bluetooth dvice was fully functional but now it does not ppear as an option in the control panel nor do I see a device icon on the bottom left of the screen. thelaptop has a bluetooth toggle switch but when this is filcked a pop up sign flashes on the bottom of the screen "No Device" Can anyone advise on this matter please? Regards Keith
Prior to resetiing? You mean you used the options to restore to factory condition? Then you almost certainly just need to re-install the driver for the blue-tooth device. Read the manual, or the website support for the laptop, where you will also find the necessary driver if you cant find it on the HDD or CD's that came with the PC
I have just re-formatted my laptop again after getting a virus and the laptop isn't picking up the driver for the bluetooth module 2.0.
I have the driver on the installation disk and have also tried installing it from downloads aswell, but when you start the installation up it just "hangs" there with the msg saying "Activate Bluetooth using Fn+F2 or Radio ON/OFF Switch" and has the cancel installation option there. It doesn't do anything! I've also tried to do a Google, but haven't been able to find sufficient information on this. If anyone knows any more about this problem then let me know
Thanks in advance,
I have a problem, that I would love to fix, it's actually driving me up the wall cause I have tried to many different things to fix it that it is no longer just a hassle but something that I need to have fixed for my own sanity lol. I have a compaq laptop, with intregrated bluetooth. When I use my skype with my bluetooth headset it works very well for about 2 - 10 mins then the screen goes black then it says that windows has crashed and do I want to start in normally.
This problem is driving me crazy and I see that ppl in here are smart enough to help me. Would love to have this sorted, so please help me if you can.
Same problem with my mobile phone connecting to Vista Home using BlueTooth, after a while, my laptop (hp) crashes. I wonder if this is a general problem with Vista and BlueTooth!?http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f299/vista-crashes-skype-and-bluetooth-involved-problem-driving-me-crazy-please-help-253825.html
I installed a bluetooth software Called BlueSoleil ..it showed me a couple of warnings while installing saying windows cannot varify the software but i ignored those and went through with the isntallation..and after restarting i noticed that the sound wasnt working anymore..not for music, videos, system or anything.. i uninstalled the bluetooth software but the problem is still here..can someone please help me? im using windows vista ultimate and im 100% sure its a software problem not a hardware one.
Could anyone tell me the advantages and disadvantages of disabling cache writing on the priming HDD? Thanks in advance
I think the default setting is usually to enable it?
I have a dim understand of it from memory. As I recall, enabling it provides slightly faster performance but has a slight risk of data corruption in cases of a bad shutdown--like from a power outage. It can also have consequences when using RAID.
The geekiest thing to do is to enable it, but use a UPS (uninterruptible power supply) to eliminate the risk from power failure.
Me? I've always left it enabled and haven't knowingly suffered any negative consequences.
I've recently installed a wireless lan in my office. I have Roadrunner cable coming into their router which in turn is attached to a Linksys router. I have one desktop (Dell) running XP Pro hardwire to the router. I also have a laptop and another desktop connected via wireless. I've seen all over the place that you should not enable file sharing. So, how do you allow acces from one computer to another. I've set them all up on the same workgroup.....what am I missing? I've been able to send print from the wireless laptop to the printer attached to the wireless desktop. It's just the folders I'm having problems accessing.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
Where exactly have "I've seen all over the place that you should not enable file sharing".
If you don't that is fine. But then you can't share files. Just a choice to make.
With a router you should be reasonably protected.
Does anyone knows whether the Acer Aspire 5253-BZ661 laptop has a built-in bluetooth device in it? Reading from articles on the internet, I don't see any information regarding this laptop's particular model having a built-in bluetooth device in it but has a bluetooth driver and suite ready for the download at the acer main site.
May be a option on some models.http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/166828-bluetooth-driver-acer-aspire-5253-bz661-but-no-bluetooth-hardware.html
installed intel ac-3160 dual band + blue tooth in a Sony notebook system wont allow blue tooth to start.
also there is no interface available to connect any hardware to it, i know it has something to do with some Vaio software on the system.
it allows me to use dual band mode and it shows that blue tooth is present but disables it claiming interference with 2.4 GHz band.
now i have had blue tooth dongles installed working while using 2.4 GHz band before with no issues, so i don't get the issue now.
any input would be appreciated.
thankx Karl K
Have you install latest driver for the intel ac-3160 device?http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/618777/installed-intel-ac3160-dual-band-bluetooth-system-wont-allow-bluetooth-to-star/
So i spent the entire day trying to figure out why my Bluetooth installed fine but after one restart it disappeared and it wouldn't come back. I finally figured it out that the FN+F2 (wireless/bluetooth switches) is what enables/disabled it HAHAHAHAHA.
default (after startup): WiFi on / BT off
first time: WiFi on / BT ON yay~!
second time: WiFi off / BT on
third time: WiFi off / BT off
I hope this helps people with their bluetooth issues =)
Windows 8 was able to install all my Function Keys so I'm going to assume this will be the case for others. Good luck
