Preferred Solution: lagging and windows closing on own

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

computer lags, the circle thing keep popping next to the pointer. Things close by itself. Like if try to delete my history that window closes. Started happening after windows 10 update. It's really anytime I right click, whatever window pops up closes itself

A:Web pages Lagging online games lagging

I'm not sure how to approach this becuase there are so many methods of repairing or generally speeding up your internet connection.

If you have a cable modem unplug the power for 60-120 seconds.
Or, close any recently installed programs that might be accessing the internet.

Dear HP. I chose that as my screen name because thats how I feel. You r laptop isn't good at all. Granted i only paid 279.00 for it.  Someone paying 279.00 doesnt expect the world...just a decent laptop. I have the best internet available. I don't have any programs eating memory. I even went to an earlier build and still your laptop lags. I have lost money on deals conducted online because I coudnt conduct business due to lag. Screens even freeze up for a few minutes. Now I am writing this because calling your customer service is fruitless. i am telling you now that I WILL no longer do business with you. Hey its only 279.00. Youre a multi bilion company. you have other customers so why worry about this money. And in case anyone is reading and feels offeneded my post comes across as hateful oh well. It wasnt my intention.

Hello everyone I'm having the issue noted above BSODs attribute the crash to either one of two files cdd dll most commonly and win k sys only once Screen turns jagged goes black and then BSOD but only when closing of Warcraft, World Chrome BSOD resizing/closing also when occasionally I've had this crashes happen to me only times in a whole week already World of BSOD when resizing/closing World of Warcraft, also when closing Chrome Warcraft crashes were all succesive BSOD when resizing/closing World of Warcraft, also when closing Chrome but after updating Catalyst drivers it never happened again PC was crash-free for or days thought it may have solved the issue and I could stop worrying about faulty hardware components but yesterday night closing Chrome it happened again I turned off Aero desktop after that just in case The problem is I can't find any Memory dump or minidump for those BSODs even though settings are on for that maybe MEMORY DMP is too large I have free Gb out of on my boot drive I changed it to minidumps just in case Oh also it was already set to overwrite so no idea what's going on Could not find them manually nor could SF Diagnostics tools which I just ran My rig is new only about months old and no hardware changes since The only components coming from my older PC are the boot HDD and graphics card The only thing that's happened is or power outages in December but BSODs started only last week If any hardware components are malfunctioning they are luckily under warranty but I need to determine if that's the case Only other strange thing is that when gathering my rig's data for this post Everest shows my Motherboard as quot Unknown quot I'll double check I installed all drivers Thanks in advance btw great tool that SF Diagnostics I'm no computer wizard but it's quite useful even for an amateur like me

A:BSOD when resizing/closing World of Warcraft, also when closing Chrome

Hi Haxiel.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

A:Slow browser, IE closing, Outlook and Yahoo closing

Hi Elise,
thank you. I ended up getting rid of PC Tools Internet Security and switching to AVG Basic Free. I think most of the major problems went away.
Yahoo has stayed up, Outlook has stayed up, browser seems to work quickly, facebook didn't have floating text and pictures anymore, was able to do some posting, sent some large emails. But, and not exactly sure, IE has frozen up, but not as often. The dds program you had me run this morning froze and I had to do a hard shut off, task mgr didn't respond and the weirdest thing of all, the clock stopped. Can't say I have ever seen that. So I am not sure what exactly is going on, if it really is malware or some setting is messed up. I wasn't able to run video on a site last night. Major improvement since I got rid of PC tools, but not quite right. Sorry, nontechie.

I just did a fresh system restore to my system installed windows XP Pro and Im experiencing something really weird I never experienced before Whenever I right click on a shortcut or move a file from one folder or directory to the other my Keeps Windows XP Lagging. PC suddenly freezes it takes about whole minute to minutes to turn back to normal Windows XP Keeps Lagging. This is weird since I have enough RAM and processing speed to do these tasks and is even more weird since If I simply move a kb shortcut from my C dive lets say to my desktop it freezes But the most weird of all is that I can do these with no problem I can turn on my PC in about seconds boot up I can unzip a GB file with no delay or problem I can open any application or file without any problem no matter the size or directory I can rename things with no problem I can download things at full speed MB s lt NOTE Download not move gt It seems that this issue is only present when im deleting or moving something I dont think its a virus because as I said its a clean windows XP install to a clean HDD no softwares out of normal were installed and it started as soon as I finished installing the new OS Please help

I've searched Windows 7 lagging PC and searched but could not find the answer so that is why I am posting this If it has been answered before please just let me know so I can close this thread I built my own PC and have been using it perfectly for Windows 7 PC lagging a year now Suddenly I turn it on Windows 7 PC lagging one day and it begins to lag and freeze Cursor skips around the screen and especially when watching any video small or large the PC heavily hesitates and is very choppy PC Configuration Asus P K Mobo E Pentium Dual Core Processor Gigs Corsair DDR RAM ASUS CD DVD DVD-R MSI N GT-MD GeForce GT Graphic Card TB Seagate HDD Windows x Professional Edition I've done my research and I am up to this point Did quot msconfig quot and turned off pretty much all software running in the background I've defragged and checked for errors on the HDD's Windows it showed no problems Deleted cache and cookies from internet Did memory test using MemTest no memory problems Did CCleaner cleaned registry folders etc no problems Re-downloaded drivers for graphic card no problems Re-downloaded drivers for mouse and keyboard both Logitech Swapped the mouse's wireless receivers into different USB slots Up to this point no conflicts are shown in quot My Device quot I even re-installed a fresh copy of Windows back into the PC After all of this the PC still lagging and twitching I figured accepted that it may be a hardware issue but where do I start Any suggestions if it could be Graphics Card HDD Motherboard or even processor Could it be a simple cable Please any thoughts would be greatly appreciated

A:Windows 7 PC lagging

Thanks faizanshakyboy for responding.

I did that already as well using Norton.

The funny thing is that yesterday when I went home from work, I played a movie and it was flawless, no skipping or problems. After turning it off for about 2 hours, I returned to surf the net and the skipping and lagging continued...WHY IS THIS HAPPENING TO ME?

I guess it's inevitable and I'll have to do what I dread doing the most; taking the PC apart to see what the problem is. The next step is to start taking out hardware one by one. First would be the graphics card then switch HDD.

Anyone else have other suggestions before I start ripping my PC's innards?

Hey. I experience lag on my Win 7 machine upon pressing Alt + Tab. I am aware that this could be because of a lack of free RAM, but it's a bit confusing because I have 1GB RAM free out of 4GB so I am unsure if it should start to lag with that much free RAM and starting to doubt that something else can be the prob.

Here is what happens: Screenshot by Lightshot

And here is how Task Manager looks like at the moment: Screenshot by Lightshot

The page file is set to 'Windows managed'.

So, what should I do, except get more RAM?

Thanks!

Obvious to anyone. You have three malware apps running live at the same time. You have Avast, Kaspersky, and AVG.

You need to remove them all and install Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST.

If you continue to crash even after removing them upload the DMP file as you have old drivers that need updating.

I just completed a major upgrade to my computer new motherboard video card processor memory hard drives I did a fresh Windows install what a nightmare it was to get my valid authentic serial number working but that s a story for Windows lagging new 7 install another day Most of the time the system is running lightning fast as it should be with an core processor gb of RAM and overclocked NVidia GTX graphics card But I have noticed that my system seems to quot hang quot pretty frequently I ll be moving the mouse and it just freezes for anywhere from half a second to as long as or seconds The same thing happens Windows 7 new install lagging with the keyboard I ll type a few letters or hit a hot key several times and there is a second delay before the keystrokes register Normally I would assume something like this is caused by old or generic drivers but I installed the manufacturers most up to date drivers for the motherboard chipset and graphics card Is there something obvious that I m missing Something is obviously wrong an machine should never lag when doing nothing more than file browsing Thanks nbsp

What security programs are you running? Sometimes when a security program keeps checking everything you do, it can cause hangups/freezes.

stand strong for the tech there are busy / but they are the only ones to really be able to understand the logs and say if your system is truely clean

you may then be redirected back here for futher assistance

Hiya.

I've been desperately trying to fix this extremely annoying issue.
Once my computer finishes booting and lands on the desktop, it takes another minute or two to load all programs and the internet sometimes won't even work until then.

It may be a coincidence, but this issue started occurring yesterday when I replaced my GTX 980 for a GTX 980Ti.
Nvidia GeForce Experience is the very first program to load and loads normally, that is, as soon as the computer lands on the desktop.

Everything used to load up properly and nearly immediately.

What I've tried:
Moving USB devices to other ports
Unplugging ALL USB devices (yes, mouse and keyboard included) and even the ethernet cable out of desperation
Wiping all drives and re-installing Windows 8.1 64-bit and installing all Windows updates before doing anything else besides installing motherboard drivers

Even after a CLEAN OS RESET the issue still persists.

I would greatly appreciate ANY help.
Thank you.

A:Windows 8.1 LAGGING ON STARTUP

Use this program here to remove all of the Windows display drivers:

Display Driver Uninstaller Download version 15.3.1.0

Then reinstall GeForce Experience and allow it to reinstall the driver.

Hello all ! I recently reinstalled windows from Windows 10 Enterprise Evaluation x64 to Windows 10 pro x64 and the configuration became so slow since that.
Configuration : Intel i7-6700 cpu 3.4ghz ,16 GB RAM , 2 gb Nvidia geforce gtx 960, 240 gb ssd.Whenever i run more than 2 programs it starts lagging as hell. I scanned for errors and bad sectors both C:(windows reserved) and D: drives,no errors have been found.I ran windows defender scan my whole system-no errors.Avast scan both at boot time and while im logged-no errors.Malwarebyte scan - no errors. Defragmented both drives-still no solution. My drives have a lot of free space so i think this is not and option for lag.Updated my drivers from windows update.
It was all okay at the Enterprise version , but the license period has expired and since then everything is laggy. How can i fix that thing? Cheers!

Now before anyone says that in 8 Battlefield 3 Windows lagging my GPU is the issue usually it would be Battlefield 3 lagging in Windows 8 when I was running Windows with my GPU drivers all up to date I was able to run BF on low settings at x auto graphics settings says I can run it a bit higher though with not much lag in fact it ran better than the youtube video I saw that proved that BF can run on an Intel HD but now as I'm using Windows also with my drivers up to date BF lags from the get go and some in the Battlefield forums seem to hint that it might be a Windows problem Has anyone experienced this issue and if it is an issue with Windows is there an update or fix for the lag BF along with Borderlands and Tomb Raider are the only games that I currently own that show performance problems on my Windows laptop although Tomb Raider is more of a driver issue and I don't want to go through the hassle of putting Windows back on for games Installing Windows and uploading my games eats up so much of my time

A:Battlefield 3 lagging in Windows 8

For me and plenty other gamers, BF3 is running with higher frame-rates and the whole game-play is much smoother under Windows-8, but I don't know any gamers which are running BF3 without a proper dedicated GPU or even SLI.

Whenever i click on a window, it seems to cause a short period of time where is makes the window not respond; and in Windows 7, if you click on it while it is during this pause, it will crash whatever program is windowed. It does it for any program that is in a windowed mode, but not if its a game that goes to fullscreen.

An example is that if i flick my mouse from side to side instead of smoothly going across it jumps from one spot to another. I've tried using CC cleaner and its not helping. Does anybody know what the the problem is and if anybody else is experiencing it as well?

It appears to be your memory. When it happens something is probably going on in your comuter. Maybe indexing, or A/V scan, one of many things. I would shut down the a/virus and see if that solves the problem. Go to task manager and see whats using ram.

2gb ram is not a lot for windows 7.

Check task manager and see how much memory is actually being recognized.

Alright, so I've been having problems with Windows 7, mostly with the internet speed.

At first, it began with very slow download (10kps vs my usual 120+ KPS), slow webpage loading, and abosolutely no ability to play online.

I've looked up several fixes (Turnning off IPv6, Checksum, disabling some Windows Services, cleaning out my registry, ect, ect nos eternum.)

Now, it will download respectfully for some of the time. I get about the same speed, and I can actually play a little. Yet, I still get huge lag spikes while playing and from vent.

Is there anything anyone could suggest to me to fix this?

A:Windows 7 Lagging Online Games

When did this start happening? Did you make any hardware/software changes and then notice a slowdown?

Did you "power down, power up" your router(s)? Check with your ISP about problems. Get the newest drivers for your network and video cards.

Hello nbsp I recently bought an Y GB SSD bits where I immediately installed Windows The WiFi card is a Qualcomm Atheros AR x and the graphic card is NVIDIA GeForce Gtx M I tried slither io and the game is lagging It does not lag on my old MACs two iMacs and a MacBook Air using 10 slither.io lagging + Lenovo Y50 Windows with the same router I have measured slither.io lagging with Lenovo Y50 + Windows 10 internet speed with speedmeter net and it is about times slower on my Lenovo than on my MACs I tried various drivers for the WiFi card and for the graphic card but it does not change anything My WiFi connection problem has been solved by using a USB NetGear Adapter Wireless-N but it is not very practical However this makes me think that the Qualcomm card has a problem and I saw other people having connexion problems with the same card on a Toshiba I also tried to play the game on Chrome IE worse lagging and Firefox but it does not solve the problem nbsp I am not a gamer but slither io is some kind of test for the fluidity of my laptop and it does not work well It is not just lagging from time to time it lags every time and at every moment nbsp Any idea nbsp Thanks in advance for your help

Got rid of Vista *finally* and installed XP from the recovery disk that came with my old computer. Everything works fine apart from whenever I move a window, the whole computer lags and the screen goes 'wavy'. Same whenever I scroll down a webpage, document etc. I haven't changed anything (apart from the screen resolution).

On the subject of screen resolutions, can you change it to 1680x1050 on XP, there's no setting for it?

A:Lagging while moving windows and scrolling?

When you reinstalled XP - did you also reinstall all correct drivers and make sure they are updated?

Check Device Manager - make sure there are no question marks or exclamation points

hi this started happening i believe with the newest windows update which was forced upon me you assholes microsoft ugh now when i try to load a folder or my computer etc anything that uses the windows explorer it just gets stuck reading for ever there will be a task progress bar trying to load the contents of the folder but it will never load i did some googling and found that if u go into network and sharing u can disable the NETWORK DISCOVERY and PRINTER AND FILE SHARING i dont even have a printer and viola this seemed to fix it for a few folders or so then it reverts back to the lag reading the folder for ever annoyance i also found that disabling the windows firewall seems to fix it the problem issue is when u disable the firewall it seems to automatically re-enable the network discover printer and file sharing functions what the f so i have myself going back and forth whenever a folder stalls on the progress indicator and doesnt load the folder contents its the worst when trying reading out keeps explorer and lagging windows to open my computer back and forth between disabling the network discovery and then the windows firewall every time i mess with one of those options it seems to fix it what gives windows explorer keeps reading and lagging out this is beyond a hassle i am so mad windows forced me to update now my os is screwed how to fix windows explorer keeps reading and lagging out

I just got into this since my damn Dell from 2004 toasted. Totally feels great.

I have a problem as I have this folder with a lot of .mp3 and it just keeps randomly refreshing. It takes ages to double click, it freezes up, I cannot understand why it keeps refreshing over & over.

I've moved up to just a 2 gigger..of RAM, nothin' beastly, but this is still extremely aggravating..never happened back on my XP SP2 tho I've tried googling and reports are that has happened on whatever ? Please let me know..

Hello !! Welcome to SF !!

What is the default program set to open those MP3 files ?? Remove that location from Search Index Index Locations - Add or Remove also i would recommend Disk Defragmenter Disk Defragmenter - Open and Use and those file avoid making them Thumb nails make them small icons that would save time refreshing Thumbnail Previews - Enable or Disable !!

Hope this helps,
Captain

A couple of days ago I was playing games on my computer everything running smoothly stopped to do after Games Windows lagging 8.1 installing homework and decided to install the update while I wasn't on I come back after restarting after the update and my games lag Two examples would be League of Legends and Games lagging after installing Windows 8.1 Assassins Creed with ridiculously low FPS HP Pavilion laptop Microsoft OS -ask for any other specs So far what I've done -Re-installed drivers which had the error message The one on my Radeon went away but the Intel one comes and goes every time I re-install it only to come back after reboot either way there is still Games lagging after installing Windows 8.1 lag Edit Neither get the error message now -I am currently running a McAfee scan so if malware etc is the case I will edit but I doubt it Edit McAfee came up with no results Currently running defrag using RegCross Edit Did recommended repairs Nothing Fixed Edit Right now I'm thinking that maybe it's my games that got scrambled in the update re-installing Assassins Creed Edit Re-installed with no results I also saw posts about mouse lag and a patch for that was put out-I downloaded that as well to no effect My computer is still on warranty so I could send it in perhaps but I don't know what they do if it would help Some have suggested to downgrade to but I don't have disks as it was already installed on my laptop Would rather not pay to fix this issue if possible Thanks Word

umm.. after i reinstalled windows XP for the 2nd time now i still cant get rid of this really weird lag when playing online games like battlefield2, warcraft3 etc, its like 2-3min between each lag and it makes everything stop for 4-5 seconds each time it happens..

ive tried to, reinstall my network card drivers, reinstall xp, checked for spyware/virus, toned down the winXP theme.. i even changed my cable out of desperation to fix this..
it cant be my isp/router because im am the only one in this lan im at that has this problem atm so only thing i can think of is its something wrong whit xp itself?

here is a picture of what happens on my network after playing BF2 for 10min, it froze 3 times there.. wtf?

Hello Welcome To SevenForums
=>~This My Opinion~<=
1.Please Just Install One AV Because they are fighting each other for their Real Time Shields. But I Suggest To Install MSE ( Microsoft Security Essential ) or Just Uninstall Your AVG Because I used ZoneAlarm For A year and it's cool.
2. This Is My Suggestion Too Use ASC ( Advance System Care ) I Used It Until Now And It is Good In Tweaking.
3. Please Change Your Motherboard If Possible Because your motherboard might not supporting your new
Hardwares

Hey,

I just upgraded my computer to Windows 7 64 bit and I'm having a lot of trouble with it. One of the biggest issues I have is performance. Ever since I installed Windows 7 my computer lags so much that it's impossible to watch videos or listen to music and even type. Is this problem caused by my graphics card? My computer is fairly old so I have an on-board GeForce 6150 since my card fried a few months ago and I never got to buying a new one. Could this be the problem? Thanks.

My computer specs are:

Manufacturer: Packard Bell
Rating: 2.0
Processor: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3500+ 2.20 GHz
Graphics card: GeForce 6150
Installed memory (RAM): 2.25 GB
System Type: 64-bit Operating System

I think your pc would be more suitable for windows xp as its old and doesnt have the requirements for windows 7 . Try dissabling most of the processes and services you dont need . Also look the topic in Tutorials on how to optimize Windows 7

This may or Windows Programs and Vanishing Lagging may not be a hardware related problem as it started occuring right after I took my computer in to get fixed they replaced the power supply as the one in it had burned out somehow but basically when I am running programs such as firefox or video games or corel painter etc they will randomly vanish It seems like they just crash but there is no error message or anything for me to really know they just kinda dissapear and I will have Programs Vanishing and Windows Lagging to reopen them It only seems to happen with what is in the foreground though say I have programs open at once only the one that I am currently doing something with is the one that disappears the computer doesn t stall or lag when this happens either What has started happening though is when i leave my computer on for more than a few hours it will start to become slow in some of the things it does and have errors opening videos and such To go into more depth on that I can have xfire and a video game on no problem and no lag but if I try to open up Windows media player it wont be able to play any file and anything that tries to auto update fails due to exceeding memory or something and if i try and restart it normally it will stall and the thing comes up asking to force restart while it shows no programs actually frozen when pressing ctrl alt delete it can take up to several minutes for the screen to appear and restarting explorer has no effect either I have no idea if this is software or hardware related as it shows no error messages of any kind and any help would be appreciated I will include a system information report as well AWC System Information Report Computer System Computer Name CORY-PC User Name Cory Organization Operating System OS Name Microsoft Windows Home Premium OS Version Product ID - - - System Uptime PM Internet Explorer Version Microsoft DirectX Version OpenGL Version win rtm - Free Physical Memory MB Free Page File MB Free Virtual Memory MB Registry Maximum Size MB Current Size MB Status OK Center Processor CPU Name Intel R Core TM Quad CPU Q GHz Code Name Manufacturer GenuineIntel Current Clock Speed Mhz Max Clock Speed Mhz Voltage V External Clock Mhz Serial Number BFEBFBFF A CPU ID Intel Family Model Stepping Socket Designation Socket Internal Cache KB External Cache KB Motherboard Model G MT-ES L Manufacturer Gigabyte Technology Co Ltd Serial Number BIOS Name Award Modular BIOS v PG BIOS Vendor Award Software International Inc SMBIOS Version F BIOS Date BIOS Features PCI is supported Yes Plug and Play is supported Yes APM is supported Yes BIOS is Upgradable Flash Yes BIOS shadowing is allowed Yes Boot from CD is supported Yes Selectable Boot is supported Yes EDD Enhanced Disk Drive Specification is supported Yes Int h - KB Floppy Services are supported Yes Int h - MB Floppy Services are supported Yes Int h - KB Floppy Services are supported Yes Int h - MB Floppy Services are supported Yes Int h Print Screen Service is supported Yes Int h Keyboard services are supported Yes Int h Serial Services are supported Yes Int h printer services are supported Yes Int h CGA Mono Video Services are supported Yes ACPI supported Yes USB Legacy is supported Yes LS- boot is supported Yes ATAPI ZIP Drive boot is supported Yes Memory Resource Total Memory MB Used Memory MB Free Memory MB Memory Usage Physical Memory Memory Bank Bank Description Physical Memory Device Location A Capacity NULL Speed Mhz Manufacturer Data Width bit Memory Type Unknown Form Factor DIMM Physical Memory Memory Bank Bank Description Physical Memory Device Location A Capacity NULL Speed Mhz Manufacturer Data Width bit Memory Type Unknown Form Factor DIMM Disk drive Name WDC WD AAKS- V A ATA Device Media Type Fixed hard disk media Capacity GB Interface Type IDE Partitions Total Cylinders Total Heads Total Sectors Total Tracks Tracks Per Cylinder Sectors Per Track Bytes Per Sector S M A R T Support Yes Current Temperature C F Disk dri... Hello Windows in Lagging clock Not BIOS all I have been experiencing significant Windows clock lag For minute to pass in Windows - minutes pass in real time I Lagging Windows clock Not in BIOS just upgraded my CPU to an AMD A - and BIOS to from ASRock A XFM Extreme because the previous CPU's AMD A - GPU unit died on me STOP error Thanks again for the BSOD forum helpers Checked to see if I have a weak battery - would be strange since I just bought the motherboard in February The BIOS clock seems to be running fine Compared it with realtime and no delays not even a second during a minute test I have been searching around the net for solutions and found WinTimerTester Ran it and found that my ratio is way off - Depending on quot bcdedit set useplatformclock true quot and HPET enabled disabled in BIOS Also tested the system with DPC Latency Checker and LatencyMon Both stared out perfectly but soon started to produce significant errors While searching for a solution I realized that my VLC is significantly stuttering which could also be due to this latency issue Interestingly MPC-HC does not reproduce this stuttering I know that I can force the Windows clock to sync every few minutes - this is what I have enabled now - but this is only an interim solution as video playback is still greatly affected Thanks for the help

A:Lagging Windows clock Not in BIOS

When you put in the new cpu did you first thing after that put all the bios settings to defaults, and a cmos battery can be dead at any time. Did you check to make sure your cmos battery was at 3 volts and not just working? Those are things that will screw with the clock it sounds like you have a bigger issue though.

Good day I've been struggling with this problem for a few days and I've searched high and low trying out different methods but so far no dice This problem started last week when I booted up Spider-Man Web of Shadows I noticed my FPS dropped massively I couldn't even turn the camera without huge amounts of lag and subsequent stutter I rebooted and then the same thing happened Then I pulled out Home Lagging Premium Suddenly 7 x64 Windows my power cord using a laptop and removed the battery and then I let the unit sit for a few minutes I put everything back and tried it again Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Suddenly Lagging and viola it was fixed Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Suddenly Lagging I thought that would be it but then a day later the same thing happened This Windows 7 Home Premium x64 Suddenly Lagging has been happening constantly and the battery-removal method kept fixing it But now yesterday it wouldn't fix itself Now ALL my games programs are lagging despite the fact that they were running swell I'm not sure what the problem is and I've tried several different things - Malware cleaners adwCleaner Malwarebytes - CCleaner - Windows Disk Check - Advanced Systemcare optimization have been using this for quite some time now - SFC Scan said there are corrupt files but couldn't fix them The only thing I haven't done is a Defrag so that's my next move

Download CCleaner and launch it

at the Tools tab click Startup and Save to text file

let's see what starts with Windows and disable the unnecessary apps

also another thing virus and malware do that to your system too.

When I am downloading some file, the computer totally lags and the sound sounds "weird" (like slowed down and chopping). It also happens when watching a video (online). If I restart my computer, the problem stops, but after like 1 hour of usage it's back again. What should I do?

A:Windows lagging, sound disorting when downloading

What is the make and model# of your computer/Motherboard?
How do you connect to the internet? Ethernet cable or Wireless?
What are the specs of your computer? Windows version? amount of RAM? Processor? Free HDD space? What Anti-Virus Software? have you scanned for Viruses and Malware? How long has this been happening? Have you tried a System Restore to a time before this happened?

Hey guys I have a Toshiba Qosmio Ever since I bought it it seemed to run start games lagging windows all to upgraded 10, games pretty slow contrary to everything I read online about it being one of the best gaming laptops a couple years ago I sent it in for a repair upgraded to windows 10, games all start lagging and got it back and didn't really notice upgraded to windows 10, games all start lagging a difference This was on windows I upgraded to windows and it got worse Overwatch will crash every single time I run it though it used to work surprisingly well Heroes of the storm is so laggy it's impossible to play Other games will range anywhere from super laggy to being alright to play depending on the game One thing worth noting is that no matter what i try my disk usage is always at Ironically as I'm writing this right now it suddenly went down to that's the first time I've seen that in a very long time Please let me know what information I need to provide to help you guys diagnose what is causing my problems Thanks in advance I have attached dxdiag

Hello BC gang I'm visiting my parents for the holidays My dad has two computers but one of them has several issues that are perplexing The computer is running quite slowly It boots very slowly taking up to five or ten minutes to fully boot While watching some video, (slow, etc...) SP3 issues lagging XP Windows streaming video files Windows XP SP3 issues (slow, lagging video, etc...) the videos are laggy The system specs Windows XP SP Intel Pentium D Ghz GB RAM GB Hard Drive with about Windows XP SP3 issues (slow, lagging video, etc...) GB free MB ATI Radeon Express Series video card Security software McAfee Total Protection Carbonite Backup Malwarebytes Anti-Malware Things that I have tried Ran Malwarebytes Anti-malware - A couple of scans found several malicious items that have now been removed Disabled several items from startup Uninstalled several programs that were unused including several toolbars Ran full scan with up-to-date McAfee Total Protection While the things that I have done seem to have helped a little the system still boots and runs slowly In addition the video playback is still laggy when viewing some streaming video particularly large non-YouTube files -- even when fully downloaded Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated -

A:Windows XP SP3 issues (slow, lagging video, etc...)

First thought is maybe its thermal throttling. I'd run speedfan on it and make sure the CPU isnt roasting and throttling to avoid melt down. This would cause this system to run slow. If the temps are fine then I'd go with a clean install. Its not uncommon for old thermal compound to dry up and cause the CPU to roast and slow, although a CPU fan/heatsink that is clogged will cause the same issue with trying to remove heat from the CPU.

Is this system a system that you can perform a clean build on? Backup personal data to external source and reinstall new clean?

My daughter has a computer that I had to reinstall clean so she could play netflix and youtube etc. It is also running Windows XP SP3, and her system is my old gaming system, 4 systems ago, from years back a Pentium 4 3.0Ghz HT ( hyper threading - acts like 2 cores ) running on 1GB DDR400Mhz RAM, GeForce 6200 8x AGP video card with 256MB RAM with 80GB IDE HDD, and it runs it all well on 1024x768 resolution. She was having similar problems prior to the clean build where full screen was laggy, and videos had to be viewed in the small windows to play without lag. Knowing that this system had no problems just a few weeks prior, I figured she added something that lagged the CPU down etc, and so a clean build fixed it. I then used one of my 4 copies of Norton Ghost 2003 to make a DVD Burn image of the system in this clean state, and so in the future if she does something that lags it out, I can push the clean image back to it and have it back up and running in less than 30 minutes.

I'd perform a clean install if this is something that can be done assuming you have the Windows XP disc etc and after install, install video card driver etc, and any other drivers required and then its clean and you should be all set.

*As far as McAfee, I'd avoid it. I like Microsoft Security Essentials which is free and has kept my systems clean. My daughter did not have MSSE on it when the system lagged out, but now that its running MSSE its still running strong and she can play her netflix cartoons etc for spongebob etc. Shes 9  =)

Hello, my name is Benjamin123. I am having problems with my Windows Media Player 12 on my Windows 8.1 Enterprise PC, when I publish a video from my JVC Everio HD Camcorder (Model NO.: GZ-HM300SEK).
Every time I click to play a video and when I skip the video along.. the image freezes for 2 seconds and it continues with a stutter. I am guessing that the PC doesn't handle a bit of HD specs (if I am right).

Thank you for reading!

Okay, since christmas my computer has been so slow. It was very fast, but now it takes at least 1 minute for something like Mozilla to open. Also, when I tried to do a system restore, when the box FINALLY loaded, it closed itself. I tried it about 5 times, it always closes itself.

I have XP

For the future, consider getting a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply). They include Surge Protection.

This would have prevented what happened to you, especially if you used the UPS Utility and connection so it would automatically, and safely, shutdown your system when it detects a power problem.

Just remember, a UPS is designed to ONLY keep your system powered long enough to allow safe shutdown.

Hi Recently Windows has been hanging a little after closing Firefox and or Windows Live Mail For example if I close Firefox or WM Windows Mail and click on the Start button or anything for that matter Windows will hang maybe seconds before it loads it It didn t used to do this I ve ran anti virus spyware programs Which returned no real threats and Ccleaner I ve defragmented and ran check disk too so my files should be clean and in order for quick access I actually recently had to reinstall Windows XP bit so it s a pretty fresh install As far as I know the drivers and whatnot should be up-to-date too As for the game it s particulary games. a or lag after little Firefox and Windows hangs XP Windows Mail closing only one as I notice lags in a certain way that never had before It s America s Army and every so often I will get this lag that will last for a few seconds and just go away It will make the game real sluggish but only for about or so seconds but gets quite annoying as Windows XP hangs a little after closing Firefox or Windows Mail and lag games. this didn t used to happen before I ve tried system restore to go back to a point where I didn t think it had been doing this but none of the restore points were available for some reason and the one it did let me restore to didn t help I don t notice any processes running that look suspicious or that shouldn t be running I ve also noticed the past few times I boot up and while loading windows my mouse will freeze for just a second which is also not normal I do have my CPU ram and video card over clocked but I know this isn t the reason for my problems since they ve been like that for quite some time and I ve ran Prime for long periods of time without problems I did recently increase my Pagefile size in windows to MB from the default Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing these little hangs after closing Firefox Windows Live Mail and the reoccuring lag in the game Because I have a feeling the two problems are connected in some way Your advice and suggestions would be appreciated Thanks Hijackthis log file Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v Scan saved at PM on Platform Windows XP SP WinNT MSIE Internet Explorer v Boot mode Normal Running processes C WINDOWS System smss exe C WINDOWS system winlogon exe C WINDOWS system services exe C WINDOWS system lsass exe C WINDOWS system Ati evxx exe C WINDOWS system svchost exe C WINDOWS System svchost exe C WINDOWS system Ati evxx exe C WINDOWS system spoolsv exe C WINDOWS Explorer EXE C Program Files APC APC PowerChute Personal Edition mainserv exe C PROGRA AVG AVG avgwdsvc exe C Program Files Galleon bin Wrapper exe C Program Files Common Files LightScribe LSSrvc exe C WINDOWS system PnkBstrA exe C PROGRA AVG AVG avgrsx exe C WINDOWS system java exe C PROGRA AVG AVG avgemc exe C WINDOWS system ctfmon exe C Program Files Winamp winampa exe C WINDOWS SOUNDMAN EXE C PROGRA AVG AVG avgtray exe C Program Files Common Files InstallShield UpdateService issch exe C WINDOWS System DLA DLACTRLW EXE C Program Files ATI Technologies ATI ACE Core-Static MOM exe C Program Files Yahoo Messenger YahooMessenger exe C Program Files ATITool ATITool exe C Program Files ATI Technologies ATI ACE Core-Static ccc exe C Program Files APC APC PowerChute Personal Edition apcsystray exe C Program Files Winamp winamp exe C Program Files Mozilla Firefox firefox exe C Program Files Trend Micro HijackThis HijackThis exe R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Default Page URL http go microsoft com fwlink LinkId R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Default Search URL http go microsoft com fwlink LinkId R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Search Page http go microsoft com fwlink LinkId R - HKLM Software Microsoft Internet Explorer Main Start Page http go microsoft com fwlink LinkId O - BHO no name - D -C F - efb- B - ECA - no file O - BHO AcroIEHelperStub - DF C-E AD- -A -FA C EBDC - C Program Files Common Files Adobe Acro... A:Windows XP hangs a little after closing Firefox or Windows Mail and lag games.

A little update...

I ran Advance WindowsCare V2 Peronal and let it "clean and fix" everything but I still get the delay/lag after closing almost any program. For instance, I opened up Windows defrag utility, closed it and tried clocking on start and it didn't open for about 3 or 4 seconds. I don't know what's causing this but it will also slow my game mention above down like I have something else using a lot of CPU power or something for a few seconds...and this happens in the game quite often...I'd say it does it at least once every minute.

Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this? It's very annoying and I would hate to have to reinstall Windows since I just literally got everything reinstalled and copied back over when this problem started occurring. If you need any more info or logs, let me know. Thanks.

I have several protective programs running..
like "Adware, Fix It 5,SpywareStopper"
but I haven't found any viruses...

When I run SpyBot, it comes up with about 23-25 entries AND I stall when I get to create a restore point. After a lon---g period of time the (not responding)
goes on.

Another problem is that WinRAR opens but closes unexpectedly...

Are these problems possibly related or do I have different issues???

Thanks for any help!

http://forums.techguy.org/t110854.html Follow this link to Rollin Rog Security Tools It is hard to tell from your report exactly what spy ware programs you are running . Scroll down the page to Parasitic , Download Ad-Aware SE , Spy Bot Search and Destroy , Spy Ware Blaster . Setup and update according to the tutourials. Go to Panda Active Scan or other online virus scanner and run a scan . If you do not have an anti virus program aboard go to Grisoft AVG and download the personal free edition . Use these programs only for now and shut down any other spyware / malware programs you mayhave running . After using the programs from Rollin Rog Security Tools come back and let us know how things are now running .

Hello,
I'm having problems with keeping folders open on my computer. Since Im not very technical I'll just explain the process and problem.
I wish to access a video file (.avi) on my computer so i open up my comp, open the required drive, and select the appropriate folder. When in the folder sometimes the window displaying the files will shut down after one or two seconds displaying the the message that windows explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close (sometimes this only happens after clicking on an actual file, depends on the folder.) I'm not sure why or if its a virus of some sort (I have an up-to-date version of Norton protection centre which doesn't detect anything), any help would be much appreciated because its becoming quite an annoyance not being able to access files.
(the files worked fine before so i know its not because of them.)
Thanks in advance.

I have been having problems for a long time having windows shutting down when I access a site. For example, if I go to a site and a small window pops up with some kind of info regarding the site and it then closes, then the original window also closes. Can someone please help me solve this? Is this a common problem with VISTA, or is it just on my computer? Many thanks!

This is happening to my roommate's laptop, and it's quite annoying..

When she goes into some links, the page loads, and it closes right before she can see its content.

She's using WinXp.

I tried msconfig, same thing.

This has already happened to a guy, and he posted it in 2003, no one really helped him..

I hope someone can help me (her).

Thx^^

A:IE windows closing by themselves

A few things to try: run an anti virus scan; download/install/run AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy (both available at Download.com); reinstall Internet Explorer or...

If these do not help another possibility...
Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Double click on the program to run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. We do not need the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

Post the log in the HighJackThis Log Help forum

Hi so I ve had closing! Windows keep this problem for a while now and I m finally getting sick of it My programs and windows will randomly close without warning and without being considered a crash when I try to access a file program or internet page with a certain word in the title The key word that seems to close things Windows keep closing! seems to be Windows keep closing! the word quot download quot When I try to open a program with the word in the title it closes If I try to open my Downloads file it closes the explorer window If I try to open an internet page with the word in the URL it will close the tab almost instantly The only other thing of note that has also been affected seems to be the main Control Panel The one where you can access all the little sub-categories which themselves work fine which closes on its own aswell My computer is an HP laptop whose model I forget and runs Windows Home Basic I inherited this computer from a relatives business who bought it and relied on an employee to use it though the employee did not know what they were doing have the time and installed countless useless web applications like toolbars and such most of which I had to go through the pain-staking task of removing one-by-one And I have no doubt there are still some in there that don t show up in the remove and uninstall page Any help would be greatly appreciated Hope you can help me and my thanks in advance nbsp

What operating system are you using? If it is XP or XP Pro, go to system restore and pick a restore date from before you began experiencing this problem.

Hi
I have recently had a lot of pc problems with processes using 100% cpu and runtime errors. I took my pc to my local repair shop and it ended up that they completely wiped my pc and reinstalled windows xp home.
I use the mozy online backup service so thankfully most of my files are safe and I have restored them.

Everytime I try to go into "my pictures" where I store all my photographs, I get the error message "To help protect your computer, windows have closed this program. Name: Windows explorer"

Is there anything I can do to prevent this happening?

Thanks

Ian
