Preferred Solution: Invalid URL Error when going to websites

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Invalid URL Error when going to websites

I am sorry..I have a little piece of incorrect information. The error is actually 'Address is not valid' and then I get 'http:///'.

I am running into an issue with users renaming files on a shared drive When the users try to rename they get the error quot A file name can't contain any of the following characters lt gt quot However neither the new or old filename contains any of these characters or any other invalid characters as far as I can determine just alphanumeric characters and spaces When they try to rename it again it works without an issue I have found reports filename in invalid characters shared Error error, renaming but no - folder invalid files of this error being generated if the file path is too long but all users are accessing this from a shared drive and even if the share name is taken into account the file path and name are easily under characters I have users on different systems reporting this Error renaming files in shared folder - invalid filename error, but no invalid characters issue so I don't think it is user error The workstations are running Windows Pro SP The server is Windows Server R Enterprise Service Pack The users are located at a remote site and accessing the share over a site to site VPN There are XP workstations at the site as well that do not appear to be having the issue Any help suggestions or guidance is greatly appreciated

When applying for jobs on several different websites they all say the email address being used to register on the site is invalid or is not recognized. The email address is fine and is used to receive and send mail all the time. It is very frustrating because every single time that I am signing up to apply for a job on one of these websites it gives me this error. I am certain that I am typing it right, I use hotmail and I set up an identical email address on yahoo and still get the same error. Any idea what may be causing this issue and how I can correct it?

A:Websites Say Email is Invalid

Try another email address.

Are there any special characters in the email address prefix such as a period?

Some sites do not like [email protected] but will accept [email protected]

I've been having this issue for a while and my computer guy can't help me. I am entering the right email address "[email protected]" so the way I am entering the email address is not the issue. I am really hoping someone can help me on this site.

After I complete my registration for a new account using my email address, I get an error message "Invalid Email Format". I have used other accounts as well, they are all gmail and yahoo accounts. This is an ongoing problem on my desktop, laptop and now my ipad. I did have a new wireless router installed and don't remember if this problem started before or after, could this be the issue? I can't even enjoy my ipad apps because I cannot register with HBOGO or pandora. I tried registering on shopping websites and cannot do so. It's very frustrating!

A:"Invalid Email Format" when registering on various websites

Hi
My Name is Kaushal and I work for social media and community Team at Dell.
I would like to inform you that the email address which you already have , you can not register the same email , while creating a new account with any other website.
It has to be different email address otherwise it will conflict with database of any domain.
Just an example: i have an email address [email protected] however i go to yahoo.com and i try to sign up with yahoo.com i would like to create the same email address [email protected] It cannot be created that email address because this domain is registered with ABC.NET already. Hence i would not be able to use this email address with any website you would like to sign up with so you need to ensure while creating a new account you do not need to type your own email address. Try to use different email name.

Thanks

My m/b is an MSI and various MSI programs such as 'MSI Live Monitor' are installed.
After adding another PC User (non-Administrator), on booting up to that user, the following message boxes appear.
First msgbox: - 'The Handle is invalid'
Clicking 'OK' brings up an identical msgbox. After'OK' - the second msgbox appears.

Second msgbox: - VBIOS - ' Flash_MMIO_MAP deviceIoControl error'
After clicking 'OK', the MSI Live Monitor box appears momentarily, showing that it is now loaded.

Note that opening up as the main user (administrator), there are no problems.

Hi, I copied the above from a search on google as I am getting exactly the same problem on my PC. I couldn't find a fix on google so thought I should try you guys. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

A:Error The Handle Is Invalid / Vbios Device Error Help Needed.

Hi bluesjunior.Near as I could find it's the MSI live update causing the error on a limited permission or non-admin account.I think you already knew that though. Take a look at this thread. You might find something at MSI's site as well.Personally, I find the function useless. If I need it, I'll get it myself but that's just me.

I have been experiencing this error code off and on while using Quicktime Pro in Windows 7. I need to be able to download and save movie trailers off of itunes (with studios blessing) for business purposes. The error code started up about 2 months ago after working perfectly. I have uninstalled and installed. Searched the 'net - seems like many are having the problem. The odd thing is that last week while traveling and using hotel's wi-fi I got a 'mime' code notice - I clicked yes and it worked then - then not working at home. We have a wi-fi system at home. I'm desperate...help please...

I'm trying to download some GPS software and the download can't be completed due to the path containing an invalid code. How do I get around this?

A:Error 1324: Invalid Character Error

Try this: You receive an invalid character error message when you install Office XP and Office 2003
It says it is for Office, but this would work with any software that is being installed.

Hello! I am getting this weird error on Firefox every once in awhile. Sometimes, its only with firefox browser, other times all browsers have this for certain websites. When I restart computer, it fixes it self. I have already tried clearing browser history and clearing cache. It happens randomly...so wondering what is causing this. I have not experienced this with my other computers in the house.

A snapshot of the error is attached.

Edit: Just tested this, sometimes closing browser and reopening fixes the problem also.

So I've spent the last two days trying to rid my machine of all spy-ware and just trying to get IE to run properly and I've done something wrong....after running multiple spybot and spysweeper scans, I also dwnloaded clean up and ran that...somewhere in this process I also went to internet properties and punched the restore defaults button[I suspect that was the culprit]

NOW when I go ANYWHERE with IE brower [ I'm on AOL now] the website opens for half a second then a new window opens ,'invalid syntax error'

Seems to me like I had this problem a couple years ago and somebody had me make a change in the internet prop box that I bet I reset today.....any Ideas?..

And remember my handle... Gearjammer...same as.... left hand = rock, right hand = hammer Happy Holidays and Thank you.....

A:invalid syntax error....

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis.exe there. Run a scan and save the log file. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. Open up the result.txt file created. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

Try doing this

1. Quit all programs that are running.
2. Click Start, and then click Run.
3. Type regsvr32 urlmon.dll, and then click OK.
4. When you receive the "DllRegisterServer in urlmon.dll succeeded" message, click OK

Then Let me know if it works .

When trying to use Internet Explorer I keep getting Invalid Syntax Error in the title and it will not display the webpage. My homepage is www.msn.com. No webpages will load even if I try to type in a new address such as http://www.google.com that I know is up and working. I am using Internet Explorer 6.0 on Windows 2000. I recently ran anti-spyware programs and also did Windows Update and ever since then I have had this problem. I cannot get to any webpage at all, even those in my Favorites.

Any suggestions?

Does other program that work trough the internet works fine?
have you tried other programs that work with the internet and
see if they work Ok ? (Email, P2P, online poker, games He He He)...

maybe you should check you internet connection settings, maybe there is proxy setting that you
sould disable or some fixed ip that was set and you should switch to automatic?
open your internet excplorer -> Tools menu -> Internet options :
Select connections -> Lan Settings -> See that the only top check box is checked.

2 Things: It sounds like your Internet Explorer problem is that your "Home" page is pointing to an address that is no longer valid. Can you get to other sites ok? Check some of your bookmarks, or simply type in the address bar WWW.Yahoo.com

As far as Outlook Express, this is a security setting. I may have to defer to someone else's expertise on OE, but I think most mail programs do this by default anymore. Is there an error of some kind that gives you the option of showing the banners or images?

Hello,
IE8 on windows XP SP3, randomly pops up "Error:Invalid Pointer".You have to close the browser through Task Manager. This problem does not happen on FF.
Uninstalled and Reinstalled IE8 several time with no luck. Then I did uninstall IE8 and IE7 and upgraded IE8 from IE6. The browser doesn't work at all and "Object Error" messages pops up as soon as you open IE . Did uninstall IE8 and now I have a useless IE6.0 and FF.
Any help please how to solve this problem.

Thanks

You've got some malware installed on your computer.

Download and install the most-recent version of "Hijack THis!". Run a scan and copy the log.

Go to the "Securities" forum and, after reading all the stickies & rules, etc... start a thread, post the log, detail your systems basic specs and ask an expert to analyze your log for you.

Do not attempt to "fix" anything, deleting the wrong entry could cause serious problems.

If you do not have a firewall installed or enabled, you should get one. If you do not have AV protection you should get one. Most of us here like AVG because it is the fastest, the best and free.

Man I just got a 40 minute call here at this tech support job (the elder didnt know computers well). Got a error 550 Invalid recipient. We deleted and recreated the account and checked the properties twice. We checked the email address that he is sending and it is right. I think it might be for some reason trying to send out of the address book and may be a corruputed address book issue. I called around here at work and no one knows. Transfered to a higher level tech and they didnt know. What is this weird error?

Hi, I'm a newbie and have some simple kids 3D learning games that were running fine on my PC until recently. OS Vista Home Premium 64-bit SP2 w/Intel Core Duo CPU [email protected], 4GB ram and integrated Intel G33/31 Express Chipset family. Now when I try to open games I get "Invalid 3D3 Version Error". Tried reloading games, upgraded Directx (to 11, Aug 09) and update drivers to no avail. The games weren't run over the holidays and I suspect I either up loaded an updated Directx or driver during that period that changed things and made the games unusable. I checked and all drivers are all up to date. I thought I'd try to uninstall Directx 11 and try an earlier version but system responds that it's being used by other programs and I can't uninstall. Any thoughts or help? Thanks.

How did you connect to the internet before? Ethernet wire? Wirelessly? Telephone line? At first blush, I'd suspect that switching to a different dialup number would help.

You are using an outdated version of HijackThis. Please uninstall from Add/Remove programs, and delete your current version.

Please download HijackThis to your desktop.. http://www.trendsecure.com/portal/en...HJTInstall.exe

Alternate link
http://download.bleepingcomputer.com...HJTInstall.exe

This program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Double-click on the file you just downloaded.
Click on the "Unzip" button to install. It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis

Upon install, HijackThis should open for you.

Should it not open, navigate to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis and double click on HijackThis.exe

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Post the hijackthis.log file here. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

=====================

Please download SDFix from here and save it to your desktop

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
Restart your computer
After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
Choose your usual account.

Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.cmd to start the script.
Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
Post that log in your next reply.

=========================================

Download Combofix from any of the links below, and save it to your desktop. For further information regarding this download you can see this on this Information Page

Link 1
Link 2
Link 3

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

1. Close any open browsers.

2. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.

Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts. When finished, it will produce a report for you.
Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.
Note:
Do not mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall

Caution...Never run and remove files using ComboFix without being supervised by a security analyst.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should not have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that Display the contents of System Folders' is checked. Windows XP's search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that Search system folders, Search hidden files and folders, and Search subfolders are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Turn off system restore by right clicking on My Computer and go to Properties->System Restore and check the box for Turn off System Restore. Click Apply and then OK. Restart your computer. After we are finished with your log file and verified that it's clean, you may turn it back on and create a new restore point.

You don't seem to have an antivirus program installed. Please download a free one at Grisoft. Install it and make sure to check for updates. Run a full system scan!

The Temp folders should be cleaned out periodically as installation programs and hijack programs leave a lot of junk there. Download CleanUp! (Alternate Link if main link don't work) and install it. Run CleanUp! and click on CleanUp! button. When it asks you if you want to logoff, click on Yes.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):

C:\WINDOWS\system32\wowc32.exe

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {5C8B2A36-3DB1-42A4-A3CB-D426709BBFEB} - (no file)
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [MSfcsys.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSfcsys.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [Msup.exe] C:\WINDOWS\System32\Msup.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [IMClass] C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSfcsys.exe
O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [57oh32e] wowc32.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Kw7nRSK3U] d3ddexnt.exe

O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: I See You Now...!! -{F75E0D20-3328-4795-B229-59AB09F85A7A} - http://www.saoura.net (file missing)

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\wowc32.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSfcsys.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\Msup.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\MSfcsys.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\d3ddexnt.exe

Reboot into Normal Mode and run new HijackThis scan. If there were some entries that didn't show up in Safe Mode, you may check and fix those that appear now in normal mode (if you do that, make sure to run a new scan again). Save the log file and run KRC HijackThis Analyzer in the same folder to get the result.txt log. Just post the contents of the result.txt file in the forum.

Hi pvpatel. . .

Welcome to the Tech Support Forum - XP!

Is the BugDoctor program giving you an error that refers to itself as having an invalid CLSID? Or does the scan report tell you of the error referring to some other program's CLSID? I'm not familiar with this particular product.

Please provide a copy of the log from the scan.

Regards from the USA to you and our many friends in the UK . .

Noticing a growing issue that is most likely malware related. Clients are able to ping their gateway, they are able to renew and obtain valid ip's, but they cannot surf into gui, browser gives "Invalid IP error". No proxy settings, Winsock and TCP/IP all checked, problem persists. Seems to be more common with Windowas Vista and IE8. Anyone have an idea what causes this and a quick fix to tell my AT&T customer's? I'm in tech support, and though this is considered "out of scope", it drives me crazy that I can't figure this out.

Download KillBox (http://www.greyknight17.com/spy/KillBox.exe). Run KillBox and check the box that says 'End Explorer Shell While Killing File'. Next click on 'Replace on Reboot' and check the box underneath that. For each of the following files below, check the box that says 'Unregister .dll Before Deleting' if it's not grayed out. Copy and paste each of the following into the top line (hitting the X button for each file - choose NO when it asks if you want to reboot until you get to the last file to delete):

You have an outdated version of HijackThis. Click here to get the latest version of HijackThis and run it.

1. If it gives you an intro screen, just choose 'Do a system scan and save a logfile'.
2. If you don't get the intro screen, just hit Scan and then click on Save log.
3. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. The result.txt file will open up in Notepad. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. We do not need the original hijackthis.log (unless we ask for it). Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

A:Invalid Syntax Error in IE 6

Welcome to TSF.

Reboot into Safe Mode (hit F8 key until menu shows up). Make sure to close any open browsers. Go into HijackThis->Config->Misc. Tools->Open process manager. Select the following and click Kill process for each one if they are still listed (they shouldn't be - but double check it):

C:\WINDOWS\System32\mtxex.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\winpack.exe

Run a scan in HijackThis. Check each of the following and hit 'Fix checked' (after checking them) if they still exist (make sure not to miss any):

O2 - BHO: (no name) - {3FAF6079-E161-58B5-DA54-12550CAD283A} - C:\WINDOWS\System32\svc.dll (file missing)

O16 - DPF: {94837F90-A2CA-4A8A-9DA0-B5438EC563EA} - http://install.wildtangent.com/cda/...uncherSetup.cab

Delete the following Files/Folders (delete folders if no filename is specified) according to their directory (if none, just do a search for them) and delete them if they exist:

C:\WINDOWS\System32\mtxex.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\winpack.exe
C:\WINDOWS\System32\svc.dll
c:\counter.cab

Reboot into Normal Mode and run new HijackThis scan. Save the log file and run HijackThis Analyzer in the same folder to get the result.txt log. Just post the contents of the result.txt file in the forum.

To help prevent future spyware installations/infections, please read the Anti-Spyware Section and use the tools provided.

I am trying to install Office 2003 on a machine running Vista. Each time I attempt the install, it runs successfully until end when I receive a message stating "Error 1324: The folder path '.' contains an invalid character." Once I click "OK," it rolls back the installation.

I have tried right clicking on the Office2003 zip file, and selecting Run as Administrator, but I receive the same error.

I have searched the regedit for "." and found one instance, which I removed (in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\GABEST\VSFilter\DefTextPathes\PATH0 Reg_SZ .). I restarted and tried again - still same error message.

Any assistance that you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Good morning Camilla08 -

Welcome to the Tech Support Forum - Vista Support!

I have seen error 1324 before - but it does come in many shapes and sizes. So, let's see what we can do to help you through this.

First, I'd like to take a look at the contents of a registry key.

Bring up an ELEVATED command prompt START | type cmd.exe | right-click on cmd.exe up top | select Run as Administrator | answer the UAC prompt - Continue/enter Admin password

Now... copy and paste the following into the "DOS" command prompt box - EXACTLY as it appears -

reg query "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders" > C:\error1324a.txt & start notepad c:\error1324a.txt

If you have problems with the paste using ctrl-v, then right-click on the top of the "DOS" command prompt box then select "Edit" then select paste.

Either way, a notepad should appear with the registry key contents inside it. Then copy all and paste results in your next post and I'll take a look.

I have also attached a text file to this post containing the same command as above - in case that would be easier for you. Please let me know if you have any questions... OK?

Regards. . .

You can try downloading the Local Installation Source Tool for MSoffice 2003. It can be found by following this document:
http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/of...001140236.aspx

and downloading the actual tool from here:
http://www.microsoft.com/office/orkarchive/2003ddl.htm

Basically it allows you to change your current installation source or cache to a different drive or directory.
You will need your Office2003 CD.

Hi,My laptop was working fine and when opened it from hibernation mode, it begin to reboot as usual but then suddenly got a blank black screen with the error "Invalid Partition Table". A day before this happened, I did have 2 pop-up advertizing windows appear. When I restart the computer, it doesn't allow me to go into Safe Mode at all. I cannot find my original Windows recovery discs. It is running Windows XP. I am hoping for a solution that will allow me to keep/save the files on the computer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!Edit: Moved topic from Vista to the more appropriate forum, as suggested. ~ Animal

A:Invalid Partition Table error

Hi PammiebotWhen this happens shortly after you see some possible malware like in your case, there is a special Recovery Scan tool that you are asked to run that can identify if the problem is being caused by malware (usually it's the antivirus software trying to block it from infecting things deeply that causes this to happen). We're not supposed to gather that kind of information in this subforum so this post should be in the 'Am I Infected' subforum. There are people watching that subforum that can help you do the scan and evaluate the results. I'll request that it be moved there. If it turns out not to be a malware issue, let me know and we can continue diagnosing it. I fix a lot of partition problems and recover the data Hang on and I'll try to get this moved.James

I have a Compaq Armada M700. I get the error message in the title when I turn the computer on after the Windows Logo. I installed my old HD, keyboard, battery, etc into a new M700 shell. The first time I started it up that's the message I got. No problems before I changed it out. I can't go anywhere on it. I click OK and it reboots. I'm on my other computer right now. I'd appreciate any help from a patient person, as I am a beginner with this. From what I have read on this site, it looks like it's infected. Thanks

Hey all, I like to think myself a pretty savvy techie, but this problem is really messing with me.

Two day ago, while trying to install a Team Fortress 2 update, I got this error, and figured it something as easy as uninstalling and reinstalling steam. However, Even when uninstalling it through Control panel -> remove programs, I recieved the error, and ended up uninstalling it manually. Now I am stuck trying to install Steam and I keep getting the same error and have no clue what to do.

I only have a C, D, and E drives, never used a G drive on this computer, so I have no clue how the install path would be changed to G. Any help would be appreciated, and rewarded with cookies.

A:Error 1327 Invalid Drive G:\

As i've read through numerous forums, It looks like this is an issue that can occur with installing multiple applications, and I assume it is as easy as changing a G:\ to a C:\ , but I have no clue where.

hi, can I take it that your hard drive is normally C? When do you see this message, are you able to boot normally at all? Have you tried safe mode, do you get the same message or can you boot? Do you normally have any external hard drives connected to your pc. If you are able to boot normally, go to the command prompt and type subst I: C:\, and press enter. Grateful if you could post back to say if this works for you.

when i try to open up the content manager in Ultimate Trainz Collection by Auran - i get this runtime error '481' - invalid picture - this never happened before. any help would greatly be appreciated - ive googled but nothing relating to my problem

A:i get a runtime error '481' - invalid picture

THIS should hopefully lead to your solution if it accepts the URL.

if the URL doesn't work, search for the Visual Basic 6 runtimes service pack 6 or 'vbrun60sp6.exe'

as i did a google and found the same errors on both a spyware site and a forum for digital cameras both were 'error 481' but were for different programs, yet the solution in both cases pointed to the microsoft visual basic runtimes, it seems part of your game may have been created in visual basic.

After a Windows update, I can't get to the Windows login screen, and arrive at a screen that states, "there is an invalid object in the boot configuration data store windows 8." The message suggests that I do a system repair from my Win 8 install disc. I booted to the disc and then, per Microsoft's suggestion, accessed a command prompt, where I tried bootrec /RebuildBcd. The command completed "successfully," but reported that no operating system was found. An automatic repair also failed. Is there anything else that I can try to get my system back? I can't boot top Safe Mode either.

I do have a Partition Manager backup. If nothing else works, can I copy the BCD fiiles from the backup over the ones in my presently-bad system? I don't use System Restore, and my backup is little older that I'd like. Thanks!!

A:Boot error: Recover from invalid BCD (Help!)

For example, you receive one of the following error messages.

Recovery
Your PC needs to be repaired
The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information.
File: \BCD
Error code: 0xc0000034

Recovery
Your PC/Device needs to be repaired
A required device isn't connected or can't be accessed.
Error code: 0xc0000225

BCDBOOT - Bcd boot file creation and repair tool.

BCDboot <source>
- <source> Specifies the location of the Windows directory to use as the source for copying boot files.

UEFI Boot Mode: BCDboot copies the boot files from the Windows partition to the EFI System partition and creates the BCD store in the same partition.
Legacy BIOS Boot Mode: BCDboot copies the boot files from the Windows partition to the active partition on the primary hard drive and creates the BCD store in the same partition.

https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/lib...(v=vs.85).aspx

Repair the system partition. If the system partition has been corrupted, you can use BCDBoot to recreate the system partition files by using new copies of these files from the Windows partition.

Set up or repair the boot menu on a dual-boot PC. If you've installed more than one copy of Windows on a PC, you can use BCDBoot to add or repair the boot menu.

How to use the BCDboot command in Windows 7/8/10.

Open the command prompt as administrator.
-or-
Boot the computer using the Windows 7/8/10 installation media.
On the first screen, press SHIFT+F10 to bring up the command prompt.
-or-
Boot the computer using the Windows 8/10 Recovery USB flash drive.
Select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Command Prompt.

Run the following commands at the command prompt.

diskpart
list volume Note: Note the volume letter where the Windows OS is installed.
exit

bcdboot X:\windows Note: Replace "X" with the volume letter of the Windows OS partition.

For example, bcdboot c:\windows or bcdboot d:\windows (see screenshots below).

If the drive letter is incorrect, you will receive the following error message: "Failure when attempting to copy boot files". Note: But if you get that error message even if the drive letter is correct, then take a look at this post if the hard drive has an MBR partition table. -> link

   Tip

The following is an example how do you fix a dual-boot system (see screenshot below).

Now you should see the dual-boot screen (see screenshot below).

   Tip

If you have a Windows 7 style dual-boot screen (see screenshot above) and if you want a Windows 8/10 style dual-boot screen.

When you are in Windows 8/10, open the Command Prompt (Admin) and type: bcdboot %windir%

Hey out there, tried to boot my machine today and just prior to the log on screen got black screen with the message above. System will only attempt to reboot after hitting "ok". It will not get to the log on screen. Have booted to safe mode and run Stinger, Microsoft Malicious Software tool and current Mcaffee, none of them found any viruses...additionally if I search for lsass.exe on my hd, it comes back unfound...if I navigate to the windows/system32 folder, it is clearly residing there.

Any ideas on what is causing this problem, if it isn't sasser related? Or could this still be a virus related issue? Could this in any way be hardware related?

Hello Anyone....Help

I am trying to download Adaware 2008 from the internet. It is an .exe file. It beings to download and gets to around 15% done, then asks me to install it. So I press INSTALL and then I get the error message "Invalid Win32 Application". I have tried downloading the same file from a different mirror site, but get the same thing. So I tried to download it using a DAP program, and that will not work eiter.

Any suggestions anyone??????

Also, my hotmail address book has been hacked into and now my friends are getting junk emails from me... How embarrasing. I use AVG anti virus and Zone Alarm, I thought this would be security enough. Hence, me trying to download Adaware to see if I have a spam program on my PC.

Cheers

I currently have Windows ME, and had previously upgraded successfully to XP and had run OK for about a year. To make a long story short, I uninstalled XP (due to various reasons/problems) and when I try to reinstall XP I get an error saying "the signature for WINXP is invalid-system cannot find message text for message 0xfffffdf0 in the message file for syssetup.dll". Can anyone help me to at least find where I can go to look up this error? Thanks, Gary O.

A user at my workplace is having a problem with IE5.5. When you attempt to launch IE, it gives an illegal operation error. The details state that:

Iexplore has caused an invalid page fault in module user32.dll

I have looked through Microsoft's knowledge base and I don't seem to find anything relating to this particular error (other errors yes, but not this one).

When I do a repair of IE, the error is still there. If I "uninstall" (ie, roll it back to IE 4.0) the browser works just fine.

The computer is Windows 98 SE. It's a Gateway system, PII 333Mhz.

Has anyone had this problem or know how to fix it?

A:IE 5.5 Invalid Page Fault Error Please Help!

Hi Mommie Geek!

Welcome to TSG!

One of the most common causes of that error is "SPYWARE"
Download and run AdAware

That should remove all the spyware.

Then go to HOUSECALL and run a complete system virus scan.

If still having issues,
go to control panel--Add/Remove Programs, and run a repair of Internet Explorer.

Good Luck!

I have windows xp and when clicking on links after searching from google 80% of the time I either get an error message that says invalid syntax or it is redirected to an advertisement and the address always starts with cliccker.cn. I have looked on many different sites and all suggest using spyware remover. I downloaded spyware doctor and spybot. Both apps have scan my computer and found many infections and threats but neither has eliminated cliccker or the syntax error. Also besides this the shortcuts to any programs like add/remove, system restore, and disk cleanup are not working. I even tried downloading firefox. Firefox fully downloads and installs but it won't run the program either.

Hello all. I did a search but nothing matched my problem. When I boot my ( Win98SE, AMD Athalon ) machine I will sometimes ( about 3 times out of 9 and going up ) get the error message ( before windows starts ) I/O Error press any key to continue. When I press the any key ( right below my space bar ) I get an error message saying No Valid Boot Disk please remove any disks and try again. The only way I have found to reliably boot on the next try is to physically give my hard drive a squeeze and/or shake. Is this a bad drive or a mobo problem? I have reseated the cable on bith mobo and drive end and the power connector. I hope someone here can help with this as I am at my limited wits end.

A:I/O error and invalid boot disk

Hi There!

Go to the website for the Drive maker and download their Diagnostics program and test the hard drive. If the drive is still under warranty, ANY error code will generally get them to replace the drive. Make sure you leave the error message up when you call them.

If the drive is NOT under warranty, then an error code will mean that you need to buy a newe drive.
Good Luck!

I have developed a theory about these two hard drives and would like some advice. IF the drive was infected with the "ANTI-EXE" virus before formatting. (a memory resident boot sector virus) AND the master boot record had been moved by the virus. Then when I formatted I would've wiped my MBR and my partition tables from the drive, Right? My question is could I slave this drive to a booting hard drive and write new boot sector instructions to it? If it is possible where would I find or extract these files? If you need more information I posted earlier "Getting Hard Drive error after formatting" Everything points to bad hard drives but I know they aren't bad, just misunderstood.

[Edited by Moyerman on 06-22-2001 at 10:31 PM]

A:Re: Getting Invalid Disk error after formatting

Hi Moyerman
If you just want to rewrite the master boot record. Boot off a windows boot disk (write protect it to keep viruses away) and type FDISK /MBR This will replace the master boot record. If you just formatted the drive you may need to SYS C: it to load the system files and make it a bootable disk. You may also need to check that the partition is set to active.
