Preferred Solution: Have Latest Java Plug-In Installed, Keeps Prompting Me To Install Again!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Please run this scan and post the log:

Download Security Check by screen317 from Here or Here.
Save it to your Desktop.
Double click SecurityCheck.exe (Vista or Windows 7 users right click and select "Run as Administrator") and follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box. Press any key when asked.
A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please Copy & Paste the contents of that document into your next reply.

Yesterday when I turned on my computer I plug-in collision. Java 10.25.2 not JRE installed is "Java plug-in properly. detected received a message inviting me to install a new update to Java Version Update After doing a precautionary search via Google that this was a legitimate update "Java plug-in 10.25.2 is not installed properly. Java plug-in detected JRE collision. I proceeded with the installation process At the time I was using the Firefox browser although I also use "Java plug-in 10.25.2 is not installed properly. Java plug-in detected JRE collision. IE At the end of the process I received a prompt at the bottom of the Firefox browser asking me to install the Java Plug-in I then visited the quot Verify Java Version quot page which confirmed that I had the recommended version of Java installed Version Update As Java recommend that users should uninstall older versions of Java from their computer I ran the Java Uninstall Tool but that confirmed that there were no older versions of Java on my computer I then opened IE but when I went to the same web page to verify my Java "Java plug-in 10.25.2 is not installed properly. Java plug-in detected JRE collision. version I got a pop-up message saying that quot Java plug-in is not installed properly Java plug-in detected JRE collision quot That was followed by a further pop-up saying quot Java Plug-in Warning - Applet s in this HMTL page requires a version of Java different from the one the browser is currently using In order to run the applet s in this HTML page a new browser session is required Close all the Netscape browser sessions and start a new browser session to run the HTML page quot I closed IE and reopened it but when I visited the Java verify page I received the same error messages I now have a situation where the latest version of Java seems to have been installed on my pc together with the appropriate plug-in for Firefox However the messages I am receiving suggest a conflict which prevents the newly installed version of Java working with IE That is despite me having established that there are no earlier Java versions on my computer I also am at a loss to understand why when I am using the IE browser I get a message to close Netscape Today I now find I have a further problem in that every time I open IE or try to open a new tab I get a pop-up from User Account Control inviting me to run ssvagent exe When I click on the details it saysC Program Files Java jre bin ssvagent exe -new-high-regdeployI always choose to cancel rather than run the program I have done some research and found that lots of people have posted about the same problem and the most common solution given including by a Microsoft Support Engineer - see java jre bin ssvagent exe error on starting IE - Microsoft Community is to disable ssvagent in Internet Explorer However when I go toTools Manage Add-ons Enable or Disable Add-ons I find two Oracle Plug-Ins listed Java tm Plug-In SSV Helper and Java tm Plug-In SSV Helper Should I disable both and if I do that does that mean I am disabling Java in IE What is the point of installing a Java update which is supposed to provide more security for the program if you then have to disable it While I am aware of the importance of keeping Java secure by installing the security updates I find it very frustrating when one is then presented with these problems when the pc was working perfectly okay before Any assistance that anyone can provide would be much appreciated

I have an older computer with Windows XP SP3 on it. Can I install Java 7 Update 65 on it? The Java website has a notice under the system requirements page which says that users may install it at their own risk and it is not supported under XP. I just installed it on a laptop with XP and haven't had any problems yet. When I went to install on a desktop, I looked at the system requirements and that's how I found out that installing on XP is at your own risk. The two computers in question are old and updating to another OS isn't an option. You really don't need Java for most general web browsing anyway. Am I right? Thanks.

Hi!
That's what's happening.
I have tried internet research solutions to no avail. Finally had to come ask for help from you guys!

I uninstalled the previous Java update (jre-7u71-windows-i586.exe) I had on my laptop. Then tried to install the latest update (jre-8u31-windows-i586.exe). It would start to install, then I would get error code 1603.

I tried to reinstall the older update. It would not reinstall. Same error code 1603. I guess I am currently without Java.

That sums up the basic problem. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

Thanks.

A:Vista SP1 keep prompting to be installed

Well...to begin with...you should have had SP2 installed a long time ago.

To check is SP2 is installed, see http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/learn-how-to-install-windows-vista-service-pack-2-sp2 .

And...there are critical updates which have come since SP2...that should have been installed.

http://www.vistax64.com/windows-updates/266669-does-sp2-include-all-patches-sp1.html

In any case, you can reinstall SP1, it won't hurt anything.  Then install SP2.  Then install all critical updates since SP2.

IE 9, 64-bit won't display flash objects on web pages, prompts me to install Flash Player, which I have done now A DOZEN TIMES... Most times now when I click on <Install Flash> it does NOTHING, and I am left without the ability to properly view flash objects on the web. WHY IS THIS HAPPENING and how can I fix it?

Thanks for any and all advice. Running WIndows 7 Home Premium 64-bit.

A:IE Keeps Prompting for Flash Install!!!

Well IE-64 needs a special version of Flash for 64 bit. You should go to adobes website and look for it dirctly.

But also, if you have active X filtering on by default on the internet zone (which you should), you will also get this message. So in that case click the little blue circle with a slash to the right of the URL window and turn off active X filtering for that page...

Hey Everyone,

I'm not sure whether this is the correct place to post this (I'm new here). Sorry if it's the wrong place!

So my problem is I am running a laptop on windows XP. Every time I start up the computer, it prompts me to install device drivers (HID-compliant devices and stuff). The weird part is, I've already installed those drivers when I first got the computer. I've learned to just press cancel every time those prompts pop up, but I'm wondering if I'm able to stop them from popping up every single time I start the computer. I'm also curious as to why it's doing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:Drivers always prompting to re-install (windows XP)

I'm far from an expert, but why not let them install to see if it quits prompting you? If all else fails, you can roll them back. After all, they could be "updated drivers". Just my thoughts.

Forgive me if I ask a silly/naive question.

I'm attempting to run "QuoteScope" which is a programs that tracks the stock market.

I get a message informing me that "A JAVA plug-in is required to run QuoteScope."

All Greek to me. Is "JAVA plug-in" a generic term, or are they talking about one of many "plug-ins" (which one?).

How do I obtain the "plug-in"?

Probably a dumb question, but I really don't know anything about JAVA, or what the hell a plug-in is.

Thanks.

I have update number 6 installed on mine. When i goto control panel, and select java to check for updates, it informs me i have the latest version installed. The computer checks every month automatically for updates, and has never come up informing me of version 7, although i have heard a few times on the BC forum that some have version 7. Whether or not 7 is an official update i dont know, but ive tried the java site and cant find anything regarding update 7! Reset your browser and forget them, they are almost legacy now.

Or you can just delete them from your plugins, but it sounds like you've installed other rubbish that will effect your browser now.

It may not be so easy to get those 'file fixing' programs off. Uninstalling them with Revo Uninstaller and then running adwCleaner then JRT may not be enough...

As you see there is a unchek option, default uncheked with Unchecky.

Howdy,I currently have Java version 1.5.0_09-b01. Is this the latest version ? I went to my control panel , clicked on Java and then checked for updates. It told me I had the latest update. It was last updated 1-10-07.I then went to the Java web site and it looks like there is a newer version. ??I have been getting a window pop up from Spybot telling me that Flash Player is trying to update. I have been denying it because I am not sure what Flash Player is. Is Flash Player part of Java ?As usual I am confused. If there is a newer version, should I remove Java and then re-install ?Thank You for your time !Dennis Moderator Edit: Moved topic to more appropriate forum. ~ Animal

A:Do I Have The Latest Java Update ?

Yes, you should remove the old Java and install the latest one.Do the same with flash. You'll need to download a removal tool to uninstall it. Go to this link for more information.

I have a problem that has just started today. I play club pogo games which require a java plug in. I have been using IE7 to play these games with no problem. All of a sudden, I am receiving the following message:"Java Plug-in Fatal Error"-The Java runtime environment cannot be loaded" Then when I close IE, I get a cryptic application error notice with 0x00000000 saying the memory cannot be read. I uninstalled both IE and java then reinstalled them both. This did not solve the problem. I also use Mozilla Fox and AOL as browsers, and the java plug in works fine here. Can you help? and perhaps offer any ideas as to why this may have happened? Thanks

A:club pogo, IE, and java plug-in

Which Java are you using? Sun or Microsofts JVM?

If you have Sun Java, do you have more than one version installed? If so, you need to uninstall all previous versions. Each version installs separately for some reason.

Do you have the newest one? Java 6 update 2. Sun Java 6 can't be downloaded as an update, you had to manually download as if you never had Sun installed in the first place.

Did you check to make sure that IE has Sun checked?

That's all I can think of that may help - I don't use Sun anymore.

Hello,

Several months ago I had problems with XP that required a reinstall. Since that time, I am unable to access plugins. I receive a message: "you must have a java plugin installed and enabled". I have run the Sun program which verifies that the latest version is installed. When I check security settings everything seems to be enabled. I uninstalled/reinstalled java plug in several times and the java coffee cup appears in the system tray (two of them, one for I.E., one for Firefox. This only happens in I.E. 6. Java plug ins work fine in Firefox.

Any ideas/suggestions appreciated.

Summary Java works fine in Firefox doesn't work at all in IE I've installed the JRE u from Sun's webpage At the end of the installation I tell it to install plugins for both IE and Mozilla checking the Java Control Panel later verifies that both browsers are checked Applets work in Firefox but in IE they don't appear I get the red X icon When I open up Tools Internet Options and go to the Advanced tab there are no Java-related options which I believe are supposed to be there after I install the JRE Also isn't the Java folder supposed to be added to my system PATH When I open a command window and type quot java quot I get a quot not recognized x64 won't on Java plug-in recognize Vista IE7 as a command etc quot error I wouldn't be surprised if UAC which I have in quot quiet mode quot using TweakUAC never had issues w that before though is having some kind of hissy-fit and keeping the installer from doing what it needs to IE7 won't recognize Java plug-in on Vista x64 do So if that's the case what do I do about it

A:IE7 won't recognize Java plug-in on Vista x64

When you click tools, internet options, programs tab, and click manage add-ons, do you see the java plug-in listed anywhere in there?
BTW do you get a choice between Internet Explorer 64-bit and Internet Explorer 32-bit? I think Java is for the 32-bit version only (I could be wrong though)

Hey,

I don't know who made Java the way it is now but making something to secure isn't helping anyone.

At this time Java is USELESS. How can you use something that blocks you from using it anywhere?

That execution list ain't working either in the java control panel.

I don't know what is going on here. I just noticed this issue and didn't look at it before.

I also get

application blocked by deployment rule set

I've got all the apps enabled on all browsers. This is just some stupid security rule that ain't logical.

I get the icon and prompt to install a Java update but when I try, it says I have to check my Control Panel x Internet Options x Connections as there is something amiss therein preventing the download.

Other than LAN settings and SETUP I can't see anything that has anything to do with stopping Java from updating.

Any help appreciated.

Hi .First of all...you need to deal with your suspected/actual malware issues.Although it's possible that your choice of AV program is somehow deficient in protecting the system...that seems implausible to me. IMO, these issues arise because the system is not properly protected or the user is not implementing security considerations in the approach used for the system. That needs to be fixed, if you want to avoid, even the slightest suspicion about system security.IMO...blaming Java for malware problems...is about as pointless as blaming Windows for security problems when the user doesn't bother to even install the latest critical updates. These updates come about (in many cases, if not all) because it has been brought to the attention of Microsoft that someone has found a new way to attack systems with Windows installed.Same thing happens for Java, which is why it's important to have the latest version installed on a system desiring not to have an unnecessary security weakness.Re the Java situation, I would suggest that you...first, use Add/Remove Programs to uninstall Java. After that, go to the following website and download/install the latest version of Java: http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jspFWIW:Antivirus, Antimalware, And Antispyware Resources - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/405/antivirus-antimalware-and-antispyware-resources/ BleepingComputer.com - Free Online Malware Scan(s) - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/blogs/usas...?showentry=1252How to Thwart Malware and Surf the Internet Safely - wikiHow - http://www.wikihow.com/Thwart-Malware-and-...Internet-Safely Louis

Hi,You are probably confusing Java and JavaScript, two different things check this article. Many sites will need JavaScript enable to work not Java, you can disable Java support on the web browser this will allow you to run java applications on your PC and will protect your computer from the recent java exploits been exploited on the web.If you need java for some trusted sites enable java in one browser to access those sites and use other browser without java enable for every day use.

Okay so the other day java decided to run an automatic update on me, and without thinking I let it do it's thing, because it's java and an update is usually good right? Well, apparently not...after the update installed I got a virus alert from AVG....and it detected 3 infected files in the java download folder. Why is this?

A:The latest java update contained a VIRUS?!?!

I seriously doubt it was the update...rather it was because the update process might have caused AVG to turn its eye, as it were, upon that folder..

my guess is that you have been surfing pron sites (known for putting virii in one's java folders..specifically in Application Data/java) and had already been infected..

I have Win 7 Pro with Firefox for internet browsing but have IE 11 as well. I currently do not find any version of Java on the pc, but something I was running activated a popup telling me to update to version 8 update 60?
Question 1. I downloaded 8 Version 60 and when I tried to run the install I got a popup saying the installer cannot proceed with the current internet connection settings please visit the Java download help site.

Question 2. how important is Java and do I really need it - I am not a gamer and do not do exotic things on the pc. I have been using this pc for almost 5 years and this is the first time I encountered this need for Java.

Any thoughts or suggestions.

A:Unable to remove the Java plug-in from the control panel

Check for JAVA entry here

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ ControlPanel \ NameSpace

You should have entries similar to this

{4299124F-F2C3-41b4-9C73-9236B2AD0E8F}

Check for each entries and find out the one which points to JAVA

Delete it,restart the PC

Make sure to back up this key before deleting entries

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Explorer \ ControlPanel

good luck

The question is in the title,

I know they are not taking up any significant ammount of space but I'm wondering if all these are needed, I'll send a snip just incase i'm the only one with lots, although i'm sure i've seen a similar number of these distributions on other systems.

Will the latest version be backward compatible with software trying to use the earlier librarys?

If removing I supose I should keep both the latest 32 and 64 bit versions.

A:Do I need all visual C++ runtimes installed or just the latest one

My feeling is that removing run-times and shared dlls is perilous. I've been burned a couple of times uninstalling something that used the same ocx as DVD Flick. I got the "this library is no longer in use. You wanna' delete it?" Windows message. Clicked Yes, DVD Flick broken. I had to uninstall/install Flick to fix it. The detection of what's still being used by what and what ain't is less than perfect.

As the famous philosopher whose name I can't remember used to say, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

edit: After all these years you'd think MS would change the default compile switch to link the code into the exe instead of leaving the hanging dll dependency. This has been going on since the 90s. We don't run 200 MB hard drives anymore where a few hundred kb of disk space is a big deal. It's just an embarrassment when you test your app on your PC and it works since the dlls are in the development install, then you give it to someone else and it craps out on load. Just another gotcha' somebody thinks is funny.

Ive been trying to make sure that all my drivers are up to date, so I've got the program Driver Max to make sure that they are the latest versions.

Ok so as I understand it, things like:

'Intel (R) ICH10 Express Root Port 1-5 etc'
'Intel (R) ICH10 SMBus Controller -3A30'
'Intel (R) ICH10 LPC Interface Controller - 3A16'

And all of those related things are what the chip set driver update's? If I'm wrong please explain how I update those things. If I'm right then why would it say they were out of date when I've gone to the Intel site and used the driver detection feature and it says I'm up to date?

Hi I recently bought a 2nd hand (4week old) acer e1 571. It originally had Win 8 installed, It is now running on Win 7 sp1 (afaik) with all the latest updates installed. This is why it has not just been brought back to the shop where it was purchased.
My problem is that I cannot play audio through the laptops own speakers. When in a very quiet room you can hear faint crackling from the speakers when they are turned up fully. If you plug in headphones or hdmi, the either will work perfectly no problem with sound. I have the latest Realtek audio driver for my computer installed and I have spent the last week checking and re checking all of the sound settings. The computer says that the device is ''working properly'' when I troubleshoot it. Im beginning to wonder are the speakers shot?

A:New laptop, speakers not working with latest drivers installed?

Maybe that was why it was originally brought back - the speakers didn't work? Did they work when you first got it? If not, I would take it back.

hi everyone!!
i have a Dell Inspiron 9100 with a ATI mobility radeon 9700 graphics card. if i try installing the latest drivers for the mobility 9700 downloaded from the ATI site the driver does not recognize the graphics card. for the same reason i am not able to install the ATI Catalyst either. Am stuck with the age old driver provided on the Dell Support site. please help.

A:Latest drivers for ATI Mobility Radeon installed on Dell Inspiron 9100

Download the one at the Dell site found by using your Service Tag. It works fine. If you do not like what it is doing, tell us what it is doing incorrectly. Dell updates that site whenever there is a better driver. Windows Update then updates it accordingly. You will not beat that at the ATI site because they supply the one to Microsoft for use in Windows updates. There are some proprietary features in a lot of the graphics cards used by Dell and other manufacturers that render them not equal to the retail ATI video graphics.

I tried to install Yawcam and it called for Java.

Tried to install Java and the install hung.

Checked some threads and came back and tried a standalone install.

The standalone didn't seem very standalone, still seemed web based to me, but anyway...

The Install quickly informed me that the install was unsuccessful - like almost immediately, before even trying, like it had read that info from some log the previous install had left.

I tried to Uninstall. Doesn't show on Windows list of installed progs.

Tried Java Uninstall service or prog or whatever they call it

It wouldn't run because it apparently needs Java to run.

So here I am. Win7 with no Java on it. And Win7 I can't begin to try to put Java on it because of the Java on it.

Any ideas what I could do?

The machine is 64bit, i3, Asrock motherboard.

The same situation exists when I confirm that I would like to accept the most recent Java update.

My machine is an AMD Phenom II Black dual-core

A:Cannot Install Java Compiler or Java Updates

Java may not be working correctly on your system. The Java (Sun) website offers a lot of help and suggestions to correct possible problems. Here are some links that you might explore to resolve your issue(s):

To find out if Java is working properly on your system visit: Test your Java Virtual Machine (JVM), and then, go to the Java website for the most recent Java downloads.

To check which version of Java you have, go to: Verify Java Version
and Java Help

There are several different Java apps, and you may not have downloaded the correct one for your system (and for your needs). One common problem is that if you use 32-bit and 64-bit browsers interchangeably, you will need to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Java in order to have the Java plug-in for both browsers.

There is also a lot of help offered at this site: Java + You Under the big red /Free Java Download’ button in smaller print is a link to a Java scan called: "Do I have Java?" Let Java scan your machine and see what the results are. If the scan says your machine doesn't have Java installed click the option to install the latest Java version. If the scan says you already have a previous version of Java installed, you can go to Control Panel, Programs and Features, left-click Java to highlight it, and Uninstall it.

Also, the Java app you tried to install may have been corrupted during installation. If you need to remove your current Java app, you can run this tool called JavaRA (from Major Geeks – a very reliable forum) to remove old Java versions.

Here's a link to the Java downloads page: Java Downloads for All Operating Systems

After installing Java, restart your browser and verify Java has been installed correctly. You can verify that it has been installed correctly by clicking this link.

I recently had an incident after I restarted firefox, the addon window popped up and showed that java has been installed and enabled. I then looked at control panel uninstall window and there it was java installed(94MB). Now how could I have not noticed a 94MB big file to have been downloaded and installed itself. MS update is turned off, Firefox updates are all have been turned off and I can't come up with a way to explain this. I did install limewire and ran online scan applet today other than that I don't know this happened. Any explanations or time to format windows 7?? lol Yeah recently that has been my attitude.

Hi everyone. I recently put together a Windows 7 Professional machine (running the RTM). After installing all of my software and the like I wanted to be sure that Java WAS NOT installed. For various reasons, mostly security and keeping resources clear, I don't want Java on this system.

Is there a way to check, and verify that the programs I've installed (web browser, some games, etc) haven't installed Java as well? I fear some of them may have slipped a Java installation in under my nose, but I don't know how to verify Java's presence. Web-based applications don't find it, but I want to be sure. Thanks!

First I would look at the program list in the control pannel then i would go into my computer and look at the Program Folder x86 and see if Java is located?
And what security reasons are you speaking of? As long as you get the lastest pack you will be safer then an old one or just run a firewall and av.

I seem to have two instances of Java installed on my Win10 Pro 64-bit Laptop .. see screenshot below.
Can I safely uninstall one of them?

If "yes" then which one? I have no clue how I ended up with 2 x Java installs on my laptop
I'm assuming I should keep the 64-bit install, and delete the other? I use Chrome as my usual browser, but very occasionally use Edge

Or do I need both of those Java installs?

You can keep the 64bit one and uninstall the other one, there's a newer update 73, get it from official site and don't update from third party sites.

I just installed Java ™ 6 Update 22 as prompted. The Java website says to remove all updates previously installed. My question is, does this mean I remove everything "Java" in my Add/Remove Programs of Control Panel? "J2SE Runtime Environment 5.0 Update 8" and "Java 2 Runtime Environmnet SE v2.4.2_03" are both there. Do I remove them?

A:Java Updates installed

The quick answer is "yes".

I think I know what the problem is but I don t know how to fix it so it won t return The Java UpdateChecker keeps telling me a new version of Java is available Update but when I tell it to install it reports that it s already installed Which it is I have Java Updates installed Update amp Update -bit So I suspect that the UpdateChecker is seeing the -bit version while the installer installed know they're Java don't updates is seeing the -bit version I can fix this temporarily by manually installing Update -bit assuming it s available I haven t been able to find a version labeled -bit but it might be auto-detecting Java updates don't know they're installed my OS even when I opt for an offline install Bad move if this is what s happening as I often download on one PC then transfer the file to update another PC offline Anyway even if updating the -bit version manually fixes this it s only going to be temporary I mainly use Firefox but when I must use IE I use the -bit version I ve found that most add-ons that punch holes in IE don t work with the -bit version Yet So the same problem will occur with the next Java update Is there a way to tell the installer to update both the -bit amp -bit versions when they re both installed Or if my guess at what s happening is wrong why is the UpdateChecker telling me there s a new update when it s already been installed nbsp

I would like to play a computer game that requires java with Is installed having safe? java some of my friends but the security of Java the last time I had used it is concerning me and causing me to delay installing it My general question is Is having java installed safe I am very vigilant with keeping software updated but am still concerned with the overall Is having java installed safe? security of Java after the big security thing last April I did not have java turned off and may have gained an infection from that which is why I'm so wary about it More specific question If I were to install java on to my computer and disable it in my main browser and only enable it in another browser that was specifically dedicated to playing the game would I still be risking it So pretty much even if I only use it on one certain thing will having it installed on my computer still be cause for concern and pose security risks Or in your opinion am I over thinking this greatly and should just not worry about it Thanks Hermes

A:Whether Java pre installed with windows ?

Hello Hari and welcome to Seven Forums.

Java is a special programming language that has been in use since 1995. A lot of games and websites and programs use Java. If you don't have it on your computer you won't be able to take advantage of the things that were created with Java. More info here:

What is Java and why do I need it?

Some computer manufacturers will include Java on any computer they sell. Other manufacturers don't. Since it's a free product anyone can install it at any time so it's no big deal if it's not on your machine. A lot of people wait until they come across something that needs Java and then they install it. That way you know you're getting the most up to date version. And speaking of up to date, because Java is so popular it is a big target for people who write viruses and other malware. So if you want to keep Java on your machine, make sure you keep it updated.

The original Java was written primarily for Internet Explorer. There was no such thing as Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc. But as these new browsers became more popular, rather than re-writing the entire Java program for each one, the main program was modified for each browser. These modifications were called plug-ins because the user didn't have to do the downloading and installation. The browser did it.

Since you're being asked to install Java in order to download and watch that video, chances are it was not included by the computer manufacturer. But you could open up Control Panel and go to Programs and Features and see if Java is listed. Or you could go to your Start Menu and then All Programs and scroll through the list. I'm betting you won't see Java listed.

Hope this answers some of your questions.

I'm having problems installing Java 7 on 64-bit Windows 7 Pro. I can run the following installers (and uninstall them) repeatedly with no problem:

jdk-6u30-windows-i586.exe
jre-7u2-windows-i586.exe

but when I run the Java JDK 7u2 installer:

jdk-7u2-windows-i586.exe

it silently quits after a few seconds. I've tried various fixes I've seen in the forums, such as making sure I'm the administrator, looking at the Windows installer service, etc. but I haven't gotten anything to work yet.

So, I'm currently stuck using the Java 6u30 JDK. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

A:Can install Java JRE 7u2 but not Java JDK 7u2 on Windows 7

I am having the same problem!!!
Did you find a solution?

I've resorted to making up fake information, with SUN, just to download an old version of the JDK - sooo annoying!!
