I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

"I cannot download drivers for it"... Why? Can you get the driver from here:
If the driver won't install, the Wifi card may be bad... Something that doesn't happen very often

I am trying to install these drivers on an ASUS X53E and been having nothing but problems.
The Atheros AR 9485 corresponds to the correct hardware ID and I am downloading the correct wireless driver from the ASUS website but it will install but there is still an exclamation mark in the device manager and cannot access the wi-fi.
Also with the PCI Simple Comm Controller, I cannot find the correct driver to download.
Screen shots are attached.
If anyone can help me, it will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Brad

Ok so recently I reformatted my ASUS laptop wiping everything from my hard drive. When I tried to connect to the internet, the laptop would not find any wireless networks around me. So I went to Device Manager and saw that the "Network Controller" had a yellow triangle next to it. So I tried to find a network controller driver online for my laptop, but couldn't find anything. Even on the ASUS drivers download page there were no network controllers available. Here are the specs of my laptop: -
Model: UL50Ag, OS:- Windows 7 Home Premium 64-Bit, Ethernet Controller:- Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller (NDIS 6.20)

If any other information is required just ask and please if anyone can find a link or some solution to resolve my problem, I would be very grateful.

Hi, hoping someone can help. Just purchased an Aus X53E laptop. When it goes into hibernation I cant revive it and have to do a cold boot. Ive tried pressing spacebar and Fn/F1 and many other keys. Is this a known issue?. Hoping there is a hotfix somewhere. Thanks

A:Hiberation problem with Asus X53E

Often this is due to Display driver. Check optional Windows Updates for a newer driver, then the Asus Support Downloads webpage for your model.

Next check the Performance log for what happens at the time of hibernation. Check also the System Resources and other logs given here: troubleshooting steps

If these steps fail then use the tool the Pro's use to trace Hibernation issues: Gathering a Startup, Shutdown, Sleep, Hibernate, or Reboot Trace - Windows 7 Forums

Hi Forum This weekend my friend asked if PC and Service Network Asus Issue Eee Wireless I could fix her computer because I write PHP code occasionally I must know how to fix computers The laptop is an Asus Eee PC X CH running W Starter The laptop was connecting to a wireless network but showing limited connectivity and no web pages were loading This Asus Eee PC Wireless Network and Service Issue is what I did - Tried running the network troubleshooter but it informed me that the Diagnostic Policy Service was not running Googled many fixes for this but basically there are many services including Windows Firewall that simply will not start Tried executing batch commands tried the FixIt tool from Microsoft but I Asus Eee PC Wireless Network and Service Issue keep getting an Error Access Denied error returned - Uninstalled the wireless and network card drivers let Windows re-install them No luck - Tried downloading newer drivers for the wireless card Atheros AR but problem still persisted - Made sure the wireless adapter was obtaining an IP automatically - it was anyway - I even took the battery out and drained it overnight as one poster said this worked clutching at straws Anyway one of the many things I tried got the Internet to work for a short period despite the icon in the tray showing me that it s limited connectivity still However there is now a huge lag of sometimes around minutes from when the laptop boots to when it actually thinks about connecting When I try to enter Network and Sharing Center for example it hangs for minutes and then says Server Execution Failed and a wired connection does not appear to work I have read many similar posts and I think I have tried everything they have suggested This laptop does not have an optical drive and I don t fancy using all my bandwidth to download a W ISO System restore will also not work it keeps failing In a nutshell I have a lot of services that will not start even when executed as an administrator through command prompt I would assume that these services are dependencies of other ones that make the wireless work properly Is there a brute force way to make services start other than through command prompt Can anyone recommend a solution based on my ramblings Thanks in advance nbsp

A:Asus Eee PC Wireless Network and Service Issue

However, there is now a huge lag, of sometimes around 20 minutes, from when the laptop boots to when it actually thinks about connecting.

When I try to enter 'Network and Sharing Center' for example, it hangs for 5 minutes and then says 'Server Execution Failed' and a wired connection does not appear to work.Click to expand...

sounds like bigger issues on that PC then just networking

it may have a virus/malware - that can often stop services - or the dependencies from running

try running fabar and see what it has to say - see below

What firewall / security suite or anti-virus do you currently have on the PC - or you have ever had on the PC in the past - any trial ware - like Norton, kaspersky or Mcafee or any free security suites like zonealarm, AVG , Webroot etc
Safemode with networking
with a cable connected from PC to router
check the cable - see if there is a light on the router associated with the cable port used , also check if you have a green/yellow light on the PC LAN port (some PCs do not have any lights on the LAN port - so ignore)
- try safemode with networking
as the PC starts keep tapping F8 - a menu appears - choose
safemode with networking - see if that works

Services - Fabar Service Scanner, free

We would like to see some status information for each of the services on the PC goto

and download the free scanner tool

Theres a Direct link to the program here

Now "double click" on the downloaded file to run the scanner , the scanner program will now open

tick all the options. and then click on scan

the scan results will open automatically in a seperate window in the notepad program.

Now all you need to do is copy and paste those results to a reply here
to do that:
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Select all
all the text will be highlighted
From the notepad menu - choose Edit - Copy
Now go back to the forum - reply and then right click in the reply box and paste

if you have any issues. A log file called FSS.txt will be created in the same directory as the program is run from.

Hey guys got one for you This particular motherboard has two SATA controllers both with apparant RAIDability The first controller is the nVidia RAID controller which has SATA ports I have a striped set of GB SATA drives on his controller and this is where my ASUS controller A8N32-SLI issue RAID operating system is installed There is also a SiI RAID controller but it seems kind of ASUS A8N32-SLI RAID controller issue pointless as a ASUS A8N32-SLI RAID controller issue RAID controller because there is really only one internal SATA port assigned to it there is a nd port that lives on the motherboard outpanel where the keyboard mouse ports are -- this is ASUS A8N32-SLI RAID controller issue probably on that controller as well You can set the SiI controller to SATA or RAID mode I have it set on SATA mode Anyway I have a GB SATA drive attatched to this internal port When the machine boots the SiI controller sees the GB and the nVidia controller sees the RAID array But for whatever reason I cannot boot my machine with my GB drive attatched to this SiI controller I can t attatch it to the nVidia controller because that s set up specifically for RAID configurations This wasn t an issue until I recently upgraded my BIOS to the latest one another long story Here is the error Couldn t open drive multi disk rdisk partition NTLDR Couldn t open drive multi disk rdisk partition If I hit a button the machine restarts At first I couldn t even reinstall Windows I probably didn t even need to reinstall it It saw the healthy array but wouldn t boot I probably just needed to unplugg the drive on the SiI controller When I would get the quot Press any key to boot from CD quot I would get an NTLDR error right under quot Windows is inspecting your current hardware configuration quot What s happening This used to work nbsp

So my computer updated to the AU last night and this seems to have broken compatibility with my sound card (Asus Xonar DG), and my wireless 360 controller. I tried re-installing the Xonar drivers for Windows 10 and it didn't work. I couldn't find any wireless 360 drivers for Win10 because I guess it's supposed to Just Work on Windows 10?

Other things I tried that didn't work:

-Rolling back to yesterday's version of the OS (wouldn't let me)

-Refreshing Windows

-Resetting Windows, then reinstalling the drivers

-Physically removing and then re-installing my sound card

-Attempted to restore from a system image I made last week, but unknown reasons it would not allow me to do this

I'm pretty sure the issue is driver-related which is why I'm posting it here. I'm more concerned about the sound card as my mobo's onboard sound is borked. Has anyone else had this problem and been able to solve it?

A:Win10 AU: ASUS Xonar and Xbox 360 wireless controller driver problems

I recall another thread a week or two ago about an ASUS Xonar sound card not working. If I remember correctly, the user removed it and went back to the Realtek on board sound.

But, if the Xonar isn't compatible with the AU, its up to ASUS to update their drivers so it is compatible.
One other thought, if the on-board is not disabled in the BIOS, the update could have enabled it and cause a conflict with the Xonar.

I know basically nothing about the Xbox 360 wireless controller, but I would try uninstalling it in the Device Manager, then restart Windows and see if its detected and reinstalled. Don't just uninstall it in the device manager then search for new hardware as it can install but have the same problem.

(as a side note, I used to live in KC).

I have a Tablet PC with Windows 8 Release Preview installed.
The Tablet PC is equipped with a x86 Intel Atom Z670 processor and the Marvell 88w8787 Wifi/Bluetooth chip.
(Also ref. as AZUREWAVE_AW-NM387 WiFi/Bluetooth)

Previously, Windows 7 installed with wifi connection was working good via the Marvell AVATAR Wireless-N Network Controller (SDIO) - Network adaptor driver installed. File version: 14.57.8025.39, dated: 02/29/2012.

After doing both a upgrade install(keeping Win7 files) and also a CLEAN install of Windows 8 onto this same Tablet PC, my Network Adaptor is stating errors, and not working.

Kindly, how do I go about fixing this problem?

Is this a laptop? Is this the wireless adapter in device manager? If so, first find the CD that came with the laptop and put it into the drive. Then open the device manager (Control Panel > System > Hardware) and find the network adapter you mention. Right click on it and select update driver. It should find the driver automatically and clear the error.
If not, please let us know.

Good afternoon, everyone
(In Brazil, it's half past noon right now.)

I'm running Windows 7 on my laptop for some time now, and I am really satisfied with it.

I have just one thing bugging me, since I can?t get it to work as it should.
Windows has recognized the "Ethernet Controller" and "Network Controller" as USB devices (therefore I can "Safely remove them").

I was wondering if any of you guys is going through something like that or have any clue on solving this issue.

(In case of any grammar or language mistakes, sorry. I don't have the chance to pratice the language every day here in Brazil )

Hello all I need help I've exhausted everything I know to do I bought an Alienware Alpha three weeks Wireless Xbox Controller USB Alienware Issue Alpha 360 w/ & Strange ago It came with an Xbox Wireless Controller for Windows After GB of updates completed on the new machine I attempted to install the new controller I followed the correct steps to install the receiver however nothing I do makes the controller pair The controller's green ring stays flashing green instead of having only one quadrant staying highlighted Here's the strange part Regardless of whether I plug it into a Strange USB Issue w/ Alienware Alpha & Xbox 360 Wireless Controller or device the Windows Troubleshooter says I have to plug it into a port It said that it's an older device so it will need to be used in a port I called Dell Alienware and verified that the two on the front are USB and that the two on the rear are They also gave me the line about being backwards compatible The controller is plugged into a port but Windows Home thinks that it is plugged into a port It is telling me that it needs to go into a port I've uninstalled rebooted and re-installed the drivers so many times already To add more crazy to the issue I plugged the controller into a new Dell netbook not sure if it is USB or not actually and it worked perfectly fine The controller paired perfectly fine Which leads me to think that it is a communication speed issue on the Alienware Alpha desktop I am stumped Please help This is not a quot send it back under warranty quot situation The computer works perfectly fine in every other way I'd just like to get this figured out so that my son can play Minecraft with the controller and not the keyboard mouse Thanks in advance for any help Jeremy

After being hit with a Trojan virus, I re-installed Windows 7 Premium 32-bit.

However, I now cannot connect to my wireless network. In device manager, there is a yellow triangle and ! against network controller. I have no idea what network controller I have. Speccy can only identify a Marvell Yukon network adapter but no network controller.

Any idea how I can locate the driver for the controller please? I have tried every trick I could find on different forums, to no avail so far.

Welcome to Seven Forums!

Was the Trojan removed or did you just re-install Windows 7 like you mentioned?
To be safe scan your computer with this: Download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware 1.65 -
Update it first then follow its instructions fully, after tell us the results.

Also what model and brand is the Wireless card so we can get the latest drivers for it from a Manufacturer's website. =)

wireless clients cannot get a DNS ip address on ASUS network

I have a home network that consists of the following components:
AP: Windows XP SP2, ASUS 802.11g wireless card, DSL connection to the Internet

2nd computer: Windows 2000 sp4, ASUS 802.11b wireless card

3rd computer: Windows 2000 sp4, ASUS 802.11b wireless card

I enabled Internet connectin sharing at the Access point but the clients cannot get a DNS address. At times, the clients show that they have acquired a DNS and an IP address but when I try to access the Internet I get the message that "cannot find server or DNS error".

I would like to receive some suggestions from other users who have a lot more experience than I do in this matter.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hey guys:

I just got an HP dv7t-6c00 (Win7 x64) and there is no network controller (wireless) driver available. I've let Windows 7 auto detect and try to find a driver and it cannot. I've tried to download all the drivers on the driver site: Software & Driver Downloads HP Pavilion dv7t-6c00 CTO Quad Edition Entertainment Notebook PC - HP Customer Care (United States - English)
and none of them work for the network controller. I do have the wired connection working.

I've also tried using auto-detection: HP Product Detection
and it didn't even bother to install anything for the network controller.

All I know is that I have a Realtek wireless card but I cannot find the driver anywhere. Can anyone point me to the right direction?

I have a Dell N5110 with a failed hard drive. I bought a new hard drive, reinstalled Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit. I then downloaded all the drivers from dell. I followed the Dell recommended install order. After all the drivers are loaded, I go to Device manager and it says I am missing a network controller driver and I am unable to access wireless. I press function + F2 and I can turn on the wireless, but I am unable to add a wireless network.
I have tried numerous network drivers from the dell site - doing a win reinstall before trying a different driver, but none are working. What am I doing wrong?
I have reformatted the machine again (for the 5th time) and I have no drivers currently installed. Where do I go from here?

as you have found, it is most difficult to obtain a SPECIFIC item to perform a SPECIFIC function, it is even MORE difficult when we can't see what you are looking at, so to help someone here on the forums to help, you might post that info on your personal page or in your sig line or in the post where you are asking for help, - the full make and model

ibm / lenova has a very easy site to find info on, and, in that YOU have the info needed,
start with this:

Finding my product number (machine type / model or part number) and serial number

Support & downloads

User's guides and manuals

download them then 'burn' them to a cd for backup, cause if you needed them once, you will need them again

Hey guys. Ever since about 5 days ago I've had this problem with my wireless connection. The internet connection is either very slow or will not connect at all (even though it still shows that I have 5 bars and that I'm connected to my home network). I run Windows Diagnostics and it resets my wireless network adapter. It fixes the problem for about 2-3 minutes, then I have to do the whole Windows Diagnostics/Wireless Network Adapter reset thing again. All of my drivers for my network adapters are updated. The type of the Wireless Network Adapter that is unresponsive/broken is an Atheros AR9485. Thank you.

Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.
Direct link to the program is here

{If the above link does not work heres another link,77196-order,4/download.html}

Then run and install the program - on a wireless enabled PC/Laptop
if you get an error - You need will need to have NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.
On windows 8 - (i do not have windows 8) but, it would appear that, When you first try to run, you may get a message that .net framework is needed, and included in that message is a link to download/install.

Run the program

A user guide is available here

post a screen shot of the program running.
if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information.

post which SSID name is yours, its located in the list, under network "Adapter Name" (1st column)

To post a screen shot of the active window.
1) hold the Alt key and press the PrtScn key. Open the Windows PAINT application (Start> All Programs> Accessories> Paint) and Paste the screen shot. You can then use PAINT to trim to suit, and save it as a JPG format file.
2) if you are using Vista/Windows 7 you can use the "snipping tool" which is found in Start> All programs> Accessories> Snipping Tool

To upload the screen shot to the forum, open the full reply window ("Go Advanced" button) and use the Manage Attachments button to upload it here.
Full details are available here

For a reliable (or robust as the Xirrus user guide says) wireless connection you need a signal of about -70 dBm or better. "A desirable signal level for a robust Wi-Fi connection will be green".
note: the signal level is a negative number, so for example -88 is worst and -40 is better

If you are using the Mac OS then use

if you want to optimise base station position and signal strength / dead spots use which has a graph function to monitor signal

Confirm that the router is not using MAC address filtering and that the Dhcp server address range is not too restrictive.

When you tried a static IP, did you remember to also set Gateway and DNS, and did you try to ping the router?

Is the network encrypted; and if so, WEP or WPA?

Good evening everyone.
I have an issue with my wireless network.
I am using a Linksys WRT54G2 V1 wireless router.

I have high speed cable internet running on Windows XP.

My wireless router worked fine and i had no issues. My son got a Playstation 3 and wanted to play online games, so in order for him to do that I had to change the security setting on the wireless router to WEP because PS3 is not compatible with WPA/WPA2 security. Anyways PS3 connected fine, so after he is done playing i went back into settings and changed it to what it was before WPA/WPA2 security.

Now i cannot connect to internet with the router, even if I put the IP for the router to connect to its setting it will not work. The internet works fine with the regular cable modem. I cant seem to find what the problem is. Anyone have any suggestions?

A:TCP/IP Wireless Network Issue

IP Address. . . . . . . . . . . . :
Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

It would appear to me that you misconfigured the routers dhcp scope. The ip address has to be in the same range as the gateway which is 192.168.1.x not a 169.x.x.x ip to work.

Usually you get a 169.254.x.x. ip when you have autoconfiguration enabled [you do] BUT when auto assigned you don't get a gateway ip or one in a standard soho router range like 192.168.1.x. Additionally the apipa assigned subnet mask is which again is not the case here.

Solution is to properly configure your routers dhcp scope.

I currently own a Qwest Actiontec PK5000. It's perfectly usable most of the time...until recently. We recently had a somewhat minor power outage, and, after power was returned, the wireless has been a real hassle. It constantly needs to be rebooted, as I get locked out after a few hours. By 'locked out' I mean my iPod and laptop can't connect after several hours. I've changed the channel, updated the drivers, and tried everything else I thought would work and nothing has.
So far:
-Creating another SSID with a different password, no security, and MAC filtering hasn't worked
-Individual MAC filters for separate devices hasn't worked
-No amount of port forwarding has solved anything
-Irritable family
Any ideas? I honestly have no idea what to do. I have a little bit of experience in networking, but not much.
Also, I'm on XP Pro.

A:Issue with network connection (wireless)

falling short of resetting the modem back to defaults and update the firmware, it's most likely a hardware issue after the power issue. If Qwest provided the modem (as in you didn't pay for the modem outright) then get them to replace it.

Are the chip set drivers up to date? I have had that burn me in the past before. Did you install any of the Intel utilities for the rapid storage, etc. It sounds like the SSD may not be optimized to run on the laptop. That could be the cause. Another thing that could be going on is that the SATA and Mini-PCIE may be sharing the same resources and with the SSD running faster could be bogging the wireless down.

Hi there
I just got a laptop a month ago-- a brand new Toshiba with Windows Vista installed on it. The wireless feature is built right in. My two roommates and I use a rather unreliable router with a reliable ISP and everything works fine. This morning my internet worked fine but about an hour after I used it it wouldn't connect. When I clicked on Diagnose and Repair, I got this message:

"There may be a problem with your Domain Name Server (DNS) configuration.

Windows failed to find the well known host "" using DNS. The server may be down.
The internet works absolutely fine for both of my roommates, and even when I plugged my laptop directly into the modem I got the same problem.

Any help on this would be much appreciated!

Hello all,
I am trying to set up a wireless network in my apartment using a Linksys router and a cable modem. I went to the Linksys router configuration link: and set up the router using the WEP setting for security. After I was finished with all of that, and entered the passphrase that I had created for it, my laptop showed that I was connected to the internet. However, it would not let me actually access any webpages. I used the network diagnostics tool on vista and it told me:

Cannot communicate with DNS server (

Network diagnostics pinged the remote host and didnt receive a response

Any ideas of how to fix this problem? Any help would be much appreciated.

In your explanation it is not clear as to what computer is running Norton. Third party firewalls seems to be a big problem when setting up a home network for file and print sharing. That would be my first guess at solving your problem.

So as indicated above, I made a clean install of windows 8.1 pro on a brand new PC I built up myself featuring a Gigabyte Wifi/BT PCI-e card (GC-WB300D) . After the install, the wifi connection from my home router was immediately detected and I saw the icon and indication on the bottom right of the screen "network available" then I right click on it and a bar on the left of my screen appeared. I click in the side bar on the network icon I was willing to connect and I was prompted to enter my login and password rather than the wifi security key so of course the connection to my (home) wifi network failed as the security key was never configured for this connection. I opened up the network and sharing center to find a menu item to configure my connection by keying th security key without success. I worked around this issue by creating a new connection using the same SSID of the connection already detected automatically by windows as there is a field in this menu to enter the security key.
Any explanation ?

I have no idea what to do, could the power outage have fried my wireless card?

My computer gets about 1-5 download and 20-30 upload. I reinstalled the default wireless network adapter (Qualcomm atheros ar956x) and the speeds were back to normal for me. But after restarting the computer, or putting it to sleep and then waking, the slow speeds return. Also it slows down if I disable and re enable adapter. The speed is normal in safe mode. It seems like something is conflicting with the driver, but I do not know what. The laptop is a Lenovo G505s. The problem continues to happen if its plugged in or not. I have tried updating BIOS and that did not do anything.

We have several laptops in our home and connect to our WiFi with our smartphones fine. However, my laptop is unable to identify this new modem/router. The only way I am able to connect is to be directly connected through a ethernet cable (I think that is what it is called? It looks like a yellow phone cable?).

I'm not very technologically savvy. All I know is that this issue arose after we upgraded to this new Cisco modem-router. Previously, with our old router/modem, I was able to connect to the wireless just fine.

The antivirus software on my laptop is Avast!

Attached is a screen capture of my ipconfig when I am not connected by the ethernet cable, as well as my ipconfig when I am connected (second screen capture). Any help is greatly appreciated.

Edit: Attached is my Xirrus log as well. I hope I am doing this all correctly. Thank you everyone in advance.

Ok, you have the tunnel adaptor problem which is nothing new.

To get rid of all those extra adaptors which is the cause of the connection problem you will need to run the file below which should delete all those extra adaptors.

There is a 32 and 64 bit version, you need to extract the file you need for your system "32 or 64 bit" and run the file then reboot.

It may require a reboot and a couple of tries to get rid of them all. Post the ipconfig/all again after you do that.

You will definitely want to update the firmware on this new router so as to make it compatible with your lap top which should prevent the problem from occurring again.

I tried several 'Speedguide' tweaks (including Nagle algorythm tweak) but get varying speeds and 'rubberbanding' when playing games online (BF3) and huge lag spikes (from around 40ms up to 1000+).

What is the make and model of your router?

What is the signal strength on these machines?

There are settings in your routers set up page that can have a dramatic effect on wireless performance, 6Mbps is terrible.

If you can post a screen shot of the Xirrus WiFi inspector it will help greatly.

hi. good day. it's my first day here in the forums. i have a problem with my laptop, its an HP dv6000. it's my network adapter. for some reason, my pc has been unable to detect it anymore. it keeps saying the my WLAN is disabled. i've tried everything. BIOS, shutting down my laptop, switching the router on, device manager, but it just would not show up. i also cannot properly see it on the network and sharing center page. there is nothng there but my pc with a line linking it to the internet with an X in the middle, and a "Not Connected" heading.

i read somewhere here in the forums that a network adapter can "die." True? i have been using my laptop for about 3 years now, and it's the first time this has happened.

Any help is greatly appreciated and thank you for taking the time. thank you.

Currently running Windows 7 Professional 64 bit on an HP computer purchased several months ago.
The Wireless Network Connection Status popup window Activity shows the following:
Bytes Sent:        28,853,819
Bytes Received:  8,155,502
What is causing the high number of bytes being sent, and where are they going?
Thanks in advance for any assistance in resolving this issue.

Is this soon after you turn on the machine? If not, this is perfectly normal behaviour.

I am using Windows 7. Whenever my laptop catches signals of some other network it stops and gives me limited access. How to solve this issue?

I recently bought a N+ Belkin adapter, as my old adapter did not support Windows 7 and our household is upgrading to an N router soon.

The USB adapter (model number F5D8055) works fine on a vista desktop that is connected to the router, and will seemingly install on my Windows 7 rig, but it will not detect any wireless networks, or even enable. When asked to enable, it says it is enabling, claims to be enabled, and then continues to not work.

CD, of course, will not install drivers, as they are vista-only. The online drivers don't seem to work, nor does manually installing the 64 bit vista drivers from the cd.

Any ideas on how to make it connect? I'm fairly certain it's a driver compatablility issue

I have a Panasonic CF-50 laptop that connects to my network wirelessly. When it is stand alone I have no problems, however when it is in the docking station it fails to communicate with any network device after a while. I have done an ipconfig and everything looks right, the wireless network is shown as connected with very good signal level. After a reboot it works again for a time.
It is running XP pro with SP2.
Any suggestions please?

Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit
Acer Aspire 5820T

Hard drive blew so had to replace it and reinstall windows, however these two devices Network Controller and PCI Simple Communications Controller issues are not installed correctly with error message in Device Manager of (Code 28) for both.

I have installed all appropriate drivers from Download

these being:

Chipset Intel Chipset Driver 2.3 MB 2010/04/08
Lan Atheros LAN Driver 4.6 MB 2010/06/23
Modem LSI Modem Driver 2.1.94 1.4 MB 2010/04/08
Wireless LAN Atheros Wireless LAN Driver 21.1 MB 2010/04/08

However the only device that was activated correctly after installing these was the Network Adaptor.

I therefore have no internet on this machine due to these two devices not being activated.

Please help.

I have phoned Acer but unless I go to there Premium support number at 50p/min, they can't help me.

Hello badbud65. Welcome to the Forum.

Are you sure your wireless LAN device is Atheros and not a Broadcom or Intel?

Did you install this?:

just upgraded my Dell Inspiron 9300 laptop from windows xp to windows 7 Home Premium. The multimedia Audio Controller and Network Controller are missing and I can't connect to the internet. How can I download these drivers to a flash drive and then install on my laptop

A:missing multimedia audio controller and network controller

Have done some looking around. From what I have found in many forums is that Vista drivers should work with Windows 7.

Post at Dell forums says the Sigma Tel Stac 975X AC97 audio driver listed for the Insperion 9300 at Dell Support will work for Vista and Windows 7. The file is a zip, so downloasd and save the file to the flashdrive. Then load it on your laptop, unzip and run it.

None of the Netwrok dirvers at Dell Support are for Vista.

For the network controller I would suggest going to the Dell Support and find out what the original configeration was for your system. Go to this page, select Original Configeration tab and enter the Service Number for your computer. It will e on a tag on the bottom.

Once you get your network divices names, go to the device manufacturer's site and check for Vista/Window 7 drivers.

I just added a 5th computer (xppro) to an unsecured wireless network running on an SMC router with an xphome and 3 98se computers that's worked flawlessly for years. The 5th computer gets the internet fine and can access files on the existing units, but I get a "log in/access denied" message when I try to transfer files to it.
Configuration of 5th computer:
Given to me so already had an admin account with no password;
I added another admin account with password-didn't help;
It's running Mcafee security which I can't turn off;
Windows firewall is turned off.

What's preventing the other computers from accessing the 5th computer?

Edit:The 5th computer is connected with a LinkSys usb adapter.
