Burned audio cd plays too fast! Please help!

Q: Burned audio cd plays too fast! Please help!

Hi, just installed a RW and am finding that when I burn audio CDs, the playback is sped up far too much to even understand anything. I first tried lowering the RW speed to 2x but that didn't work. Interestingly, my RW software doesn't have a 1x RW option, should it?

The RW software automatically converts my MP3 files into WAVs and then burns them to the CD. Might that have something to do with it?

And to top it off, since I installed the RW my DVD-ROM playback "is blocked by another application."

Any help on either subject would be MOST appreciated!!!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Help! Win 2000 audio plays too fast..

Have you tried playing the same MP3's on other audio applications (like realplayer or windows media player)?

If you try this and the MP3's work, then we know its a Winamp problem, otherwise I do not know.

All desktop audio plays fast, until I start a youtube video.. and put it on pause... then all other audio also normalizes. So in order to listen to an mp3, watch a movie, or anything like that.. I need to have a youtube video (or a adobe web flash video) running.

Computer games are exempt from this phenomena and exhibit only normal audio behavior. Thats why I wrote "Desktop audio."

Soundcard: Sound Blaster X-Fi Fatality
Windows XP Pro SP3
Mobo: Asus Striker Extreme
CPU: Intel Extreme QX6700
2gb ram
etc..

The onboard audio is disabled in BIOS btw.

This is a very weird problem. Anyone have a tip?

I created many CD's with downloaded songs from itunes and napster. I created them in .wav format. Only one of the cd's I created will play in the older style cd player but they all play in my car. The cd player indicates there is "no disk" in the player. My CD's are Cd-RW's and the one that plays is the same CD-RW as all of the ones that do not play. I cannot figure this out and spent hours on this project.

I have not used CD's specifically for audio. Will this solve the problem - doesn't make sense that it would since one of the 15 cds was recognized??

Any suggestions?

I have a cd which its audio content are in .cod format that only work with the program coming on this cd. This audio content should be at least 100 hours. I asked someone how to extract this audio content to play it on my cd player, the answer was to use a normal cd ripper. I did, but the outcome was a 60 minutes track, that plays at hyper speed: about 4 or 5 times the normal speed.

So any idea how to fix this file to be at normal speed?

Hi there. I recently purchased a Fujitsu Siemens Amilo M notebook, Intel Centrino 1.6ghz, 60gb HDD, VIA Vinyl AC'97 sound device with XP Home. When I tried playing mp3 music files they appeared to play a bit faster than usual. Thereafter i tried playing wav files and it sounds extremely fast like "The Chipmunks" Tried re-installing drivers, didn't fix the problem. I then Re-installed XP Pro, still didn't fix the problem. What should I do?

A:Sound plays too fast

I fixed a prob like this before. I had to disable the onboard sound and install a sound card, and it worked fine. So it probably is something to do with your onboard sound, but you are using a laptop, so doing this isn't as feasible compared to a PC. So, all I can say besides that is check your settings, make sure no weird options are selected that could cause this to happen if any. 2ND, does this happen in all media players, or just one? If not sure, try playing music in different media players besides Windows Media such as winamp (www.winamp.com)

I have a AC'97 Sound Card. Whenever I play music, video or anything with sound it plays too fast. It sounds like chipmunks singing songs. This problem occurs with any player that I try. Win Amp, Windows media player. The only time a song plays at normal speed is when I play CD Audio. Like a regular music CD that you would get from a music store. Any type of compressed music will not play at normal speed. My O/S is Windows ME. thanks for your help.

Recently, I torrented three Blu-ray files to my computer (legally) from the same source and am having trouble rewinding or fast forwarding with 2 of them. Disc 1 will only rewind or fast forward up to 30 minutes, after that, it ends the movie. Disc 2 has no issues. Disc 3 will not rewind or fast forward at all, and will end the movie as well.

I burned these files by downloading them to my computer, ad dragging the files over to the disc. The file is there, it plays fine, but I simply cannot get 2 of them to fast forward and rewind, which is a real problem viewing them. I burned them to Memorex BD-R discs, using LG Blu-Ray writer from Best Buy, and a playing them on Sony wireless Blue-Ray player (I don't believe the player is the real issue). Can ANYONE help me get this to work?

I'm having difficulty with my sound/video playing too fast, here are my system specs:

Windows 2000

ACPI Uniprocessor PC 1GZ
Maxtor 5T020H2

Compaq CD-ROM/DVD LTN485
Intel(R) 82801BA Ultra ATA Storage Controller - 244B
Intel(R) PRO/100 VM Network Connection
AC'97 Audio Card
*Note* In an attempt to fix the problem I went to www.realtek.com and downloaded an updated driver for the AC'97 Audio Card, but when I restarted the computer would not function with the new driver(s) running. So I had to start-up in safe mode and disable it.

With the new AC'97 Drivers I now have no option in the Control Panel for a sound device to choose/use, so I may have made matters worse

Any/all help would be greatly appreciated as I would love to get this issue resolved ASAP. Thanks.

Minor issue here. I have a lite on dvd recorder that came with a nero 6. Recently I upgraded to nero 7 ultra and now I notice that when I playback a burned dvd in my dvd player that it cannot fast forward over 2x the speed. It simply freezes up then return to the original menu. Before I could fast forward a scene up to 8x the speed(the maximum of my dvd player).
I tried changing the settings just before I burn my dvd. First making sure that it was a the maximum setting. Then i tried to change the write speed setting to 8x. No change. Like I said this is minor but I was wondering if this is a glitch with nero 7 ultra or did upgrading somehow change a setting or what? Thnks!

A:Windows Media Player Plays Too Fast Help !

If you suspect a codec pack as the culprit, here is what I would do.First, you'll need to have a program that can monitor your installations, and show you a log. I'm sure there are FREE ones out there.1. Run the monitor program2. Install the codec pack again.3. Stop the monitoring after the install is complete.4. Uninstall the codec pack5. Open the install log and see everything that the codec pack installed6. Then use the log to manually check the folders and registry entries, and delete anything you find from the log.Other than that, you may need to use a registry cleaner. Below are 2 good programs I use. The 1st one is the most basic, and to the point cleaner. Use that one 1st.I must advise you that using any registry cleaners can cause more problems than you already have if you don't know what you're doing. But I've yet to experience such a problem.Eusing Registry Cleanerhttp://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleane...try_cleaner.htmEusing registry cleaner is a fast and FREE, and most importantly, very good at cleaning out bad registry entries. Even if you use other registry cleaners, you should definitely add this one to your list.Replendent Registrar Advanved Registry Managerhttp://www.resplendence.com/registrarReplendent Registrar is yet, another very good registry cleaner and manager. The latest version checks for hidden registry entries and can be used as a CLSID lookup utility. This has many advanced features, which makes it needed even more. Although this is not actually a FULL FREE product, I'm listing it because the lite version is FREE, but some features are disabled. But for the average joe, this will be a very useful tool.

This is a minor issue but I have a external lite on that came with a nero 6. Recently I upgraded to nero 7 ultra. Now when I playback my burned dvd to my dvd player I notice that when I fast forward at anything more 2x the speed the dvd freezes then returns to the original menu. I never had this issue when I used my nero 6. I use to be able to fast forwarda burned dvd at 8x the speed, the maximum of my dvd player.
Except for this everything else seems to work fine. I tried changing the speed in the nero vision 4 just before burning. First I made sure that the write settings were on max. When that didn't work I tried setting the write speed to 8x. Still no change. Is this some glitch with nero 7 ultra or has my setting been some how changed when I upgraded?

Are you still using the same media? Try changing to a different make of blank media and don't always assume that setting the write speed to max is a good idea!

I have a hp probook laptop and there is a problem with the webcam.
At first, it seems like everything works just fine, but when I make a video, it plays it in fast forward or just randomly skips parts. Also, after a few seconds, the sound is gone. The camera and the microfone work properly.

I have found more people on the internet with this problem, but a lot of them have a hp pavilion, it seems. The problem looks a lot like the thread: "loosing it..." on this forum. I tried this explanation, but when I click hardware-id`s it says"USB/VID_046&PID etc... and in this thread they say that there should only be a problem if there`s USB/VID_050 or something like that.

I only have the standard programs for webcam that came with the laptop

Please tell me how I can fix it thank u

Hello everyone!

I recently bought a new desktop computer that has Windows 8 and I have been having a bit of a problem with Windows Movie Maker. Whenever I put a video into Windows Movie Maker it will either play the video faster than the audio, or there will be no picture at all (depending on what type of file I put in). I do occasionally do some video editing and I actually enjoy using WMM for some things so I would really appreciate any help that I could get for this problem!

I should also note that originally I had the exact same problem when trying to play videos in Windows Media Player, although after going here (http://windows8codecs.org/) and installing those codecs Windows Media Player now works perfectly. Unfortunately it didn't help Movie Make at all though.

So thank you very much for any help that you can give me, I really appreciate it!

A:Windows Movie Maker Plays Video Too Fast/Shows No Picture!

The videos you are/were trying to play and/or edit in WMM were probably made with an incompatible codec. One way to fix this issue is to download a video converter, inport the movie that doesn't play correctly, and then convert/export it as a wmv type movie file. Once done, WMM should recognize it and you should also be able to now work with the movie inside WMM. Please understand that if the video is corrupted, my recommendation will not fix it. I use Freemake Video Converter and it works like a charm:

Free Video Converter | MP3 MP4 AVI 3GP MKV DVD | FREE Download

Good luck.

Ok, I have had this Philips CDRW for a couple years now and it's worked great. Recently we had some work done on our system and had to disable the regualar CD drive (the standard one) as it died. This made teh CDRW the master (?). I'm not sure if this is what caused the problem, but recently everytime I try to burn a CD there is not sound on the CD. In my stereo and on the computer, the # of songs come up and with their individual times, and the songs will even "play" but there is no sound at all. I've tried the Roxio Easy CD creator and also I tried another burning program, still no luck. Different CDs were used too.
Any advice would be awesome!!! Thanks so much!

Hello again, BleepingComputer! I'm having a difficult time with de-synced DVD-RW's burned with DVDFlick/ImgBurn.

I download a large batch of files from youtube using Any Video Converter, then convert them to the DVD NTSC (MPEG)output. Using DVDFlick, I take the the files and burn them to my DVD-RAM Drive(E:). Also enabled, is the creation of an ISO Image which is deleted after verify. When it's finished, I play the disc in the DVD player and find video/audio is a good 5 seconds out of sync. As it progresses, it switches in and out of sync every 10 minutes or so.

I believe i have all of the necessary codecs installed, but i've got a sneaking suspicion that i either did something wrong in converting from youtube, perhaps it's a file output issue?

the last two cdr's that I burned with nero would only open the first time as data, after that the burned cdr's show up as audio cdr's in my computer and will not open. There is no audio on these cdr's only data..I have had nero for a couple of years and this has never happened to me before. How can I get my data..Iso buster won't even work. Thanks

A:burned cdr's change from data to audio?

i dont think u can retrieve data from the cd. it seems the table of contents on the cd is damaged, maybe due to scratches or dye deterioration. thats why explorer is seeing it as audio tracks and not solid data. ur only hope is Isobuster, but even in that, u cant retrieve the whole data if the cd sectors r damaged.

DVDs I burned on my old computer played fine but now when I try to play them on a computer I got in 2011 there is picture but no sound. They work OK with picture and sound in my DVD player attached to my TV.

I have Windows 7. Is there some codec or filter I need to install?

I'm not very technically savvy.

I downloaded a movie recently and saved it as a file. The format was MPEG-4 and Windows Media Player gave a message that they do not recongnize that format. Okay I used Youtube Downloader to convert it to WMV and watched it on my computer. When I decided to burn it to DVD (using the converted file) the audio and video started fine then became hopelessly out of sync. Any suggestions?

A:Audio and Video not in sync on a DVD I burned.

Sounds like it was encoded poorly, to me anyway. I've had it happen before and used a different program to encode it & it came out better. DVD Flick is a good program for burning DVDs. Only downside (for me anyway), whenever it transitions to and from a black screen, it will lag momentarily. I'm not aware of any other free burners with a high quality output. Maybe someone else will be able to help there. Good Luck.

When I create a VCD using Nero express I find that the Audio is about 8-10 seconds faster than the video. Movie files I use are .avi files.
When I play these on Windows media player or Divx player on my computer they are perfectly fine, i.e. audio/video in sync.

I tried uninstalling & then re installing nero express with no success.

I am using Benq - 52x24x52 Cd rewritter with seamless link. Windows XP home, pentium 4, 2.8 Ghz, 512 Ram.

Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks

A:Skipping problems on burned audio cds.

You could make them all .wav files before you burn them as an audio cd, maybe the program you are using to burn them couldn't deal with certain bitrates, or variable bit rates. Until I found out the version of nero I was using could deal with mp3s I used to always convert my mp3s to wavs before I burned them. I'm almost cerain this will work if that is indeed the problem.
You also mentioned high track numbers (anything above 24 I consider high), have you tried with another cd player? Maybe your cd player doesn't like going that high?

I still don't know why there is no software that can read and print the screen. Thanks chuck for your answer. may be someone out there has a better idea than me writing a jewel case label in handwriting or in word.
thanks again. this is a nifty site.

A:reading burned audio cd tracks

Hi dobiegirl, and welcome to TSG.

A standard burned or commercially pressed audio CD does not contain data like artist, song title, genre, etc. in the tracks. You would need to manually enter the data in the label creation software.

EDIT: There is a variation of Audio CDs called CD Text that can contain track data. The burning software you used to create your discs would need to support that feature and the source files would have to have the correct tags.

I have problems with a cd rom. apparantly it only plays audio cd's but no games or programs.

few years ago I fixed a computer with this problem by reinstalling windows again. However; I would like to avoid that now if possible. The problem few years ago was that an audio program was downloaded and let to overtake windows default settings. Then the program was removed and that is when the problem started.

I am pretty sure this is the same problem, but this time i would like to fix it without reinstalling windows.

Thank you

Look for every possible audio player program in the Programs file and make sure none are set as the default CD controller.
I wonder if drivers from the CD's manufavterer instead of the generic Oak drivers in windows would override anything that has a hold of the CDROM?

The AVIs used to play exactly right on my computer but suddenly I have no video, just audio.

Mine is probably related to a codec, but I have no idea which codec might be required to take care of this issue.

A:Virus that plays audio

Hi sokamichael, welcome to TSF.

Before we can proceed, I will need to see a GMER scan from the infected computer.

Download GMER Rootkit Scanner from here and Save it to your Desktop. Double-click gmer.exe to run it. If asked to allow gmer.sys driver to load, please consent.
First, gmer will run a short, initial scan.
If it gives you a warning about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run scan...click on NO.

Click the image to enlarge it

In the right panel, you will see several boxes that have been checked. Ensure the following are UNCHECKED ...IAT/EAT
Drives/Partition other than Systemdrive (typically C:\)
Show All (don't miss this one)

Then click the Scan button & wait for it to finish.
Once done click on the [Save..] button, and in the File name area, type in "Gmer.txt" or it will save as a .log file which cannot be uploaded to your post.
Save it where you can easily find it, such as your desktop, and attach it to your next reply.

**Caution**
Rootkit scans often produce false positives. Do NOT take any action on any "<--- ROOKIT" entries

Hi everyone, I just got a new laptop that has vista preinstalled. I installed a codec pack that was called something like ffmd or something like it. I didn't like it so I uninstalled. Now I can't play video including .wmv. When I open a file, it will only play the audio part and no video at all. Divx and xVid videos work fine. No error message at all. Shouldn't WMP11 be able to .wmv no matter what?

It's not a hardware problem of any kind. I know that much but I'm afraid that's as far as my knowledge goes.

Hope someone has an answer!
Thanks!

I'm new to your board and a novice PC user too. I'm hoping someone can help me out. I'm running Windows XP Home Edition. My wife likes to listen to music on cmt.com. We had Norton AntiVirus 2004 and Norton Firewall 2004 previously and I had to write some firewall exceptions to allow the music to play. All was well until my subscription ran out and I installed Norton Internet Security 2005. I re-entered the exceptions and I can get to the music site ok, but when I select a song and click play, the song will only play about 5 to 8 seconds, then it will pause and show that it's buffering. Once buffering gets to 100%, it will play another 5 to 8 seconds, pause, buffer, and it will repeat for the whole song. Maddening! I've sent several e-mails to Symantec (Norton) support, but they don't seem to understand the problem... their response is "we're sorry you can't access the website...", so they have been no help. I have tried turning off NIS, but the problem persists. Could the installation of NIS2005 changed some settings in the PC? I'm at a loss. I have poked around in the control panel and WMP and have increased the buffering time from 5 econds to 30 seconds, but it didn't help. Any suggestions will be appreciated. Well flint I have never herd of that problem before but It may be the anti virus you have, but if you whant something really good go to google.com and type AVG free. Avg is the best anti virus I know of.

One day out of the blue my computer decided it's not going to play video files anymore. Everything had worked perfectly until that day. I can still view video online from youtube and other flash players but not divx players. No matter what program I use in Windows I get a black screen and the audio playing. I've tried installing new codecs even though there shouldn't be a need and I recently installed ffdshow although I am uncertain how it's supposed to work. Any guidance would be most useful, thank you

After a recent rebuild, new motherboard Biostar A785GE, my dvd/cd burner will play an audio cd and you can see the ribbon at the bottom showing it to be playing in WMP, but no sound to speakers. MY hardrive is attached to the motherboard via SATA. My DVD/CD burner-player is attached to the motherboard via IDE cable.

Online audios play ok. But not factory new audio cds.
I've read and read and have tried many suggestions :uninstalled Realtek re-installed, downloaded and reinstalled Biostar audio driver, changed playback devices form digital to speakers etc. Replaced Dvd/cd-burner .....same thing...no sound.

At wits end, please help!
Thank You!

Hello and welcome to TSF.

Please download aswMBR.exe and save it to your desktop.

Double click aswMBR.exe to start the tool. (Vista/Windows 7 users - right click to run as administrator) At this time, select No when prompted to download the Avast database.
Click ScanUpon completion of the scan, click Save log and save it to your desktop, and post that log in your next reply for review. Note - do NOT attempt any Fix yet.
You will also notice another file created on the desktop named MBR.dat. Right click that file and select Send To>Compressed (zipped) file. Attach that zipped file in your next reply as well.

Hey guys, okay, so this started a few days ago. I guess I downloaded a rogue program. Every time my computer starts up now, I get like 15 minutes of audio ads playing, even if I don't have anything launched. I've scanned with Avast, Spybot and malwarebytes, none of which have solved the problem. Can anyone help? I started my computer about 20 minutes ago and it's STILL going.

Hi, I have a virus that I can not get rid of, it plays audio with nothing running in the background. The audio goes on for awhile stops the starts again and again and again. I have downloaded different antivirus and malware software but nothing works. I have a Toshiba, i3, Windows 7, 64bit computer. I bought it from a resale shop and have had it for about 4 months. Welcome aboard  Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your Desktop. There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them. You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.If using Vista or Windows 7 right-click on it and choose Run As Administrator.A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully. If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.Do not reboot until instructed. If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode. When the scan is done Notepad will open with rKill log.Post it in your next reply.NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

Hello, I have had this virus a few times before, and usually would simply system restore and it went away. However, this time I've been doing a lot recently and don't want to have to reinstall or re download all my stuff, so any advice I could get would be greatly appreciated. Basically, I'll be doing whatever on the internet, and a random audio ad will play. It persists after the browser is closed, and on several occassions that I tried, right through the shut down of the computer. Malwarebytes doesn't catch it, and I'm out of ideas.

Hey there,

Usually I can just read through other people's post and find a solution that way. This is not the case.
I have a sony laptop running windows xp pro 32bit.
It had the virus which hides all the personal files, desktop items and did a few other things.
So far I removed over 400 infections with various removal tools.
I got stubbed on this one virus which randomly opens up IE in the background and plays audio files. These range from commercials, talk shows, music and whatnot.
I decided to run combo fix to try and fix the issue. However, it does not seem to be moving past the line "However, scan time...easily double". I cannot click on anything else, nor can I get task manager up.

Please help and give me any suggestions.
Thank you

A:Virus that plays background audio

Hello having run ComboFix we need to see that and a DDS log. Please go here....Preparation Guide ,do steps 6 - 9.Create a DDS log and post it in the new topic explained in step 9 which is here Virus, Trojan, Spyware, and Malware Removal Logs and not in this topic, thanks.Skip the GMER step and instead post the ComboFix log you have.Let me know if that went well.

Please REPLY, I cant move forward, I've done EVERYTHING I could think of. I have windows xp and can only use wmp11 as the latest version available. I can not get my .mod files to play...well at first it said that there was a missing codec (AC3) and when i downloaded ac3 filter 1.63, I got audio and no video. so i tried divx and my pc just couldnt handle it. the video and audio were no longer synced up and the video played back in slow motion while the audio played in real time. How can I make this work out with wmp11? Is there some sort of patch, plugin, codec, a different filter or something to make this work??? please help.

I am fairly new to audio cd burning, and wondered if anyone can advise me on this particular problem? I have a fair sized music collection on iTunes, and have for some time been unable to burn tracks to audio CDs via iTunes. So Instead, I used a program called "Tiny Burner1", very successfully. That is, the CDs play perfectly on my PC, but will not play on either my hifi system or my car unit. The tracks are all mp3, and, as I say, they play on my PC without any problem. I have made sure they are burned as "Audio", but do not know what else I can try. Thanks for any help.

I don't know if this is a common problem/error or somehow it just pertains to me!

I have converted an AVI file to DVD using Winavi but when I burn to a DVD disc using Nero Vision, some of the scenes video does not match the audio. In fact the audio is from a totally different scene.

If I burn the DVD in 'basic Nero Burning ROM' mode, by adding files to a 'compilation', the DVD burns perfectly but obviously without a menu or chapters.

I would love to use Nero Vision to enable me to add titles and chapters, so why is this happening?

Thanks.

A:Windows Media Player only plays audio

I worked through the trouble shooting process at this link http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306317 and got WMP 10 playing video again. Adjusting the video acceleration in WMP 10 fixed the problem. (Tools > Options > Performance tab > Video Acceleration: changed from Full to the middle position.) Don't know when or how it was moved to full, or if it always was at full and something on the pc has changed and WMP 10 won't play at full acceleration anymore. Either way, I'm glad it's operating again.

The link had several things to test/try that I didn't know existed. Hope it helps someone else someday.

Hi,

I installed my soundcard, everything works perfect. I installed drivers and i get no trouble at device manager. After I plug my headphones in and try to play music, i get no sound. At the sound options in windows i see the soundcard and it looks like it works, because the green bar goes up and down. I read that i need to turn onboard sound off in bios. I couldnt find it in my bios (Award Software F4), dont know why, so i deactivate onboard sound at device manager but it didnt work. Maybe someone knows the problem and can help me

Best regards,
erDi

A:Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio plays no sound

If you have installed a separate sound card, the front panel headphone jack connection has to be moved from the motherboard to the separate sound card. If you didn't move the connection that is probably your problem.

Depending on the age of the PC and the BIOS, the on-board sound could be labeled "Legacy Audio" in the BIOS.

Hi, I have recently bought a thinkpad T420 and really like it but I have a problem with headphones not working at all :-( When I plug in the headphones nothing happens at all, audio still plays via speakers. I have tried to uninstall and install drivers for the audio, in Device manager under Sound current audio device driver is Conexant 20672 SmartAudio HD - unfortunately audio only plays via speakers. I have also updated other drivers to make sure it is all up to date, also updated bios.Under Sound tab in settings in the playback deviced only Speakers are listed, no headphone.... Don't know what else to do....? I bought this laptop especially for it being semi-portable so I can travel with it but having no headphone option ( on a train... ) may not be a good idea. Any solutions will be much appreciated.  Thanks, Pav

Ok, my laptop, which is a Toshiba, running Windows Vista, has just recently started playing what sounds like random radio stations out of the blue. It happens when I'm on the internet and when my laptop is just sitting idle. I've noticed that my internet is running slower as well as getting popup ads by something that says "Ad served by Precisead." I've run the Malwarebytes scan as well as Mcafee, which is my antivirus software, and it didn't find anything. Any help would really be appreciated!!

Hello, let's do another scan..Next run ATF and SAS:Note: On Vista, "Windows Temp" is disabled. To empty "Windows Temp" ATF-Cleaner must be "Run as an Administrator".From your regular user account..Download Attribune's ATF Cleaner and then SUPERAntiSpyware , Free Home Version. Save both to desktop ..DO NOT run yet.Open SUPER from icon and install and Update itUnder Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):Close browsers before scanning.Scan for tracking cookies.Terminate memory threats before quarantining.Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen and exit the program. DO NOT run yet.Now reboot into Safe Mode: How to enter safe mode(XP)Using the F8 MethodRestart your computer. When the machine first starts again it will generally list some equipment that is installed in your machine, amount of memory, hard drives installed etc. At this point you should gently tap the F8 key repeatedly until you are presented with a Windows XP Advanced Options menu. Select the option for Safe Mode using the arrow keys. Then press enter on your keyboard to boot into Safe Mode. Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.Click the Empty Selected button. If you use Firefox or Opera browser click that browser at the top and choose: Select AllClick the Empty Selected button. If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.NOW Scan with SUPEROpen from the desktop icon or the program Files listOn the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.Perform a Complete scan. After scan,Verify they are all checked.Click OK on the summary screen to quarantine all found items. If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes" and reboot normally. To retrieve the removal information after reboot, launch SUPERAntispyware again.Click Preferences, then click the Statistics/Logs tab.Under Scanner Logs, double-click SUPERAntiSpyware Scan Log.If there are several logs, click the current dated log and press View log. I've got Windows XP Pro SP2, laptop.
I picked up a virus and spyware and Sunday and have been clearing them off.

Currently, when connected to the internet (not surfing, just plugged in) the laptop starts playing sounds, specifically a couple comedy routines that appear to be ads. When this happens explorer.exe has a burst of CPU activity and killing explorer.exe stops the sound. No other process appears to be affected, to the best of my limited knowledge. Disconnecting from the internet also stops it.

The sound is sometimes the first thing that starts after a reboot.

I've got Spybot, Ad-Aware 2007, and just bought SpyEraser, and have Symantec Corp Antivirus. None of them find anything.

Anyone know what's going on?

Thanks.

Review of SpyEraser:http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1759,2091004,00.asp SpyEraser is a danger to itself and to others. It's poor at removing existing spyware, sometimes killing innocent processes, and it's even worse at keeping systems from getting infected in the first place. Look elsewhere for spyware protection.Scans very quickly.Performed poorly in spyware removal and blocking tests; produced false positives. Spyware removal can kill other processes, including Windows Explorer and SpyEraser itself. A:Satellite Pro L850 plays audio through 1 headphone only

I agree with you. This issue can be related to audio out port, especially if there is no problem with internal speakers and if they are working properly.
Let?s see what other people will post about that but what you can do at the moment is to contact nearest Toshiba service provider, explain the situation and ask for help.

How do you make it, so that when a Nero-burned Audio CD (a compilation, not a copied CD) is played in Windows Media Player, the Album name, Track name and Artist name appears. My MP3's have ID3 Tags, they don't show up when burned on a CD. I'm not talking about CD-Text, that's different.

Currently, all I get when I play the disc in Media Player is something like:

Unknown Artist

Track 1

I actually want the Artist name, Track names and Album name to show up in the player.

I have been having a few strange little problems lately But there is only one thing that is reproducible When both my audio When Enabled Crash While Plays Driver Audio Wireless driver and my network driver are enabled and a sound Crash When Audio Plays While Wireless Driver Enabled is played the sound infinitely stutters and windows totally freezes There is no BSOD the screen and cursor just remain frozen If either device driver is enabled independently the computer seems to work I was initially getting BSODs when I did this but I do not get them anymore My computer also just seems weirdly sluggish lately - x -bit or x - the original installed OS on the system Yes - an OEM or full retail version OEM - What is the age of system hardware Years - What is the age of OS installation Years - Model ASUS N JQXT Laptop - Wireless Atheros AR - Audio Not sure about the device drive right now It just says quot High Definition Audio Controller quot in my devices and it's a Microsoft driver I could swear that there was originally a rd party driver at some point though Any help would be greatly appreciated

A:Crash When Audio Plays While Wireless Driver Enabled

I re-installed the audio driver, and one of the audio devices that shows up in the device manager (2 show up) has the same IRQ number as my wireless adapter. Could this be the root of the problem? I disabled this device but I'm still getting the crash.
