I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
To start off my laptop is an Asus G VW-AS The wireless network adapter is an Atheros AR WB-EG The issue I m having only starts when I play an online game It s not a specific one it happens with all my games After about a few matches I will begin to experience terrible lag spikes Ranging from - ms sometimes even going up to over Usually the spikes are permanent I will jump to around ping and hover in that general number with it occasionally sliding back down to my normal only to immediately spring back up again After this begins to happen any application I use that uses internet internet browser skype etc also lags is severely slowed down This lag is never experienced on any other system using our wireless internet which makes me believe it is in fact my laptop s wireless adapter that is the problem Doing a windows troubleshoot on the adapter DOES fix it but it only fixes it for about to minutes and then I begin to lag adapter network Problems with wireless again Also the troubleshooter seems to only be able to fix it once If I try to troubleshoot the adapter again after already fixing it before that way the troubleshooter will tell me that it couldn t find anything wrong Manually restarting the adapter only works once as well Restarting the computer does not help the problem If the laptop is shut down for a few hours and started back up the adapter will work properly as long as I do not start a game Could anyone help tell me how to stop this from happening Do I need to get a new adapter or is there something I can do for the current one nbsp
Are you sure it is not an issue with your router? Also I dont know where to get Atheros drivers other than from the manufacturer (vaio, lenovo, etc) website. There are no official drivers
AMD has released an updated statement regarding the noise issues experienced by the initial buyers of its Radeon R9 Fury X graphics cards.
Are they saying "screams like a banshee until we smothered it in glue"? Does anyone have a more engineered approach to the issue - like decibels at a specific distance?
It's been a while since I've posted but I've obtained most of the Sims 2 and I TRIED to install Double Deluxe but for some reason my dvd drive isn't recognizing the disc. It spins up and tries to read it, but doesn't do much in the line of effort to read it.
There are no scratches and I took care of the smudges with a cloth. Still unable to read the install disc. It'll read the promo/bonus disc and play it just fine though.
The computer is a Windows 7 with an HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GT60N Drive.
I have enough RAM, Graphics and other things to run it.
300 Gigs of Space left on the HDD. No idea what's going on here.
You might have a bad optical drive. Does it work with other DVDs (DVDs not CDs)? Do you have access to another DVD drive with which to substitute for testing purposes?
I have a linksys router that has stock firmware and I can get into the config by 192.168 etc but I can't get it to see the internet. I have a isp that gives dhcp ip so no login needed. Any ideas?

Okay, I've had the same issue with a new build: Put it all together, switch on the power and basically nothing. Do the following tried and true diagnostic steps that can be tedious but costs nothing to do and can often zero in on your issue:
1. Uninstall everything from your motherboard and disconnect all peripherals from your power supply except psu to motherboard, cpu, and one stick of RAM. Now turn it on. If it boots up and stays booted then shut it down and then...
2. Add your second stick of memory -- nothing else. Repeat by booting up and if it stays booted up then...
3. Start adding one piece of hardware at a time and repeat as directed.
What are your findings?
Basically I think it s Laptop Samsung Ultrabook Series 5 Problems; been happening for a month now My laptop screen glitches - the images distorting and sometimes green text appearing - Laptop Problems; Samsung Ultrabook Series 5 before Laptop Problems; Samsung Ultrabook Series 5 righting itself and crashing The only way I can get the Laptop Problems; Samsung Ultrabook Series 5 laptop to function again is to turn it off via the power button or take the battery out and put it back it again It has also become slow starting up - taking at least five minutes before you can log in and then a further five before you can actually do anything The cursor sometimes gets stuck in the center of the screen - I can access things using the tab screen but the cursor won t move whether I use the laptop touchpad or my USB mouse The fan has also been sporadically speeding up before calming down again - even though I ve been doing the same thing for the past god knows when I ve done a boot-up scan using avast had a look through all of my files and gotten rid of any old files that I don t need on there in an attempt to create some space but I ve got about - gb free so I can t see why that should be a problem Nothing happens before the glitches crashes so I don t think I m causing it by moving it and so on About a month ago the charger port was fixed at a laptop repair shop and then the laptop itself was sent off to SAMSUNG to have the motherboard replaced because I mistakenly wiped the bios since one driver update shut the laptop off in the middle of the bios update so I don t know if something is loose and so on I m planning on selling it in a month or two so it s not that much of a problem but of course I don t want to sell it to someone if its being a pain in the backside I also switched from integrated graphics to a nvidia geforce graphics card that is in the laptop when I bought it so that might be why Basic Info Samsung Ultrabook Series Intel Core i GB Ram TB Hardrive bit Operating System NVIDIA Geforce GT M nbsp
This sort of problem is tough to troubleshoot over the internet. It could be quite a few things that could cause the symptoms that you're experiencing. With that said, I'd probably start with updating the discrete GPU drivers. Since you did switch from integrated to discrete, this could be the main cause for the graphic glitches which is probably crashing the system.
Moving forward, I think you should download something like CPU-Z to monitor the CPU load and temperatures during the crashes. It could be that your CPU is overheating and could use some attention.
I have a keyboard that has been working fine last night then this morning this happened:
When I type o it types o+ and when I type l it types l and enter (the key)
So this makes it extremely hard to get anything done, please help, thanks
How old is the keyboard? Sometimes "gunk" gets built up under the keys and can cause the keyboard to start failing. Have you tries to remove the keys (or take the keyboard apart) and properly clean it? There are plenty of tutorials (video and non-video) available if you are unsure of how to clean a keyboard.
Regular cleaning on all computer parts will extend the life of those parts.
For about the past month or so, my W7 tower on DSL occasionally loses its connection to the internet so I right click the the icon in the notification area & click trouble shoot & it reconnects yet my iPhone & Ipad remain online no problem.
Clearly the router is doing find and the activity on W7 IS THE ISSUE.
Examine carefully what was active when the connection was lost.
I have a Dell Optiplex 330 which has a 2.0 dual processor with 4gb of ddr2 ram. I have windows xp installed and I have a video card that has 1024 mb of ram. I am unsure of the brand of video card or further specs. I bought it off of ebay some time ago.
My problem is that when I try to play streaming video it wants to freeze a lot. I have already given more space for the virtual memory on my computer: I think 4 to 8 gb and I have set my hardware acceleration way down but these changes haven't helped.
I can download and play movies fine, I only seem to have problems when playing streaming video like from hulu.com or letmewatchthis.com which directs you to sites like: putlocker, deditv, sockshare, loomba, etc. I have used other computers and they don't seem to have as much problems with this so I hope that somebody knows what I need to do to solve this problem. Thanks in advance for any help.
When you say freezing, do you mean just the video freezes, or the whole system? If its just the video, it could have something to do with your internet connection. Is the computer on wired internet or wireless?
Hello all...I'm having problems with my Dell PC. I just purchased a sweet new scanner (ScanSnap SV600) and when I scan a lot of pages at once, I get an error message saying I'm out of storage and to restart the computer. The specific code given is 0x8007000E. I've also been noticing when I run a few web tabs at once, sometimes they just go black and I need to restart the browser. It has 8GB of RAM and all the drivers are updated. Anything I'm missing? Thank you kindly!
Dell Optiplex 790
Win 7 Pro
How much storage space do you have? From what I could research this error is tied to programs demanding a great deal of memory. You say this occurs when trying to scan a lot of pages at once. Does this occur when scanning less material at once? Have you tried updating your drivers for the scanner?
See picture below. Any ideas? Ive cleaned the rollers, and the main charger, and pretty much anything else I can find in the copier. Havent replaced the toner cartridge though. Originally there was toner all over the place and the dotted line was a solid black line. Performing the aforementioned maintenance items got rid of the thick black line but now this remains.
Any help is appreciated
I seem to have quite an annoying problem with my new 256gb razerbalde. Whenever I launch a game I get a black screen the sound still works but no response from the screen, I have to put it to sleep and back on again and it works even though sometimes I need to do it 10 times or so. I have updated to all the newest drivers and tried a secondary display through hdmi it gives me the following error message: failed to initialize renderer. Unknow error creating the renderer. I only tried launching skyrim so far. The error seems to happen sometimes but not often when I will start the laptop and the screen will be the same. It's more of a black/greyish color and you notice that it is on.
Any help will be of great use. If the post already exists I am sorry and would be happy to get the link.
I'm having trouble staying on line with telstra connection my internet keeps freezing and dropping in and out I have had trouble with my home line phone and have a bullion modem which this isn't the problem, the problem I believe lays with telstra as I've checked with my server and with downloads and updated my PC so what can I do next.

I have been having quite a few issues with the motherboard I have from ASRock. It is the Z87 Extreme4. My issue is the usb 3.0 No matter what I plug in it says this device can perform faster than this blah blah blah. Anyway, that should not be happening as I am plugging in usb 3.0 devices. What is going on? The other problem is that my front ports that are from the mobod header will no longer recognize any of my external 2.5 hdd. 1 on the back also says this so I am limited to just 3 ports on the back that I can plug into with my external hdd and they are very important to what I do. Is anyone familiar with this? Is this only on this board or a common thing among ASRock? I have other computers and the usb 3.0 works just great.
Have u Installed the drivers? I do not know any thing about ASRock but lots of USB3 have to have the drivers.
I have been experiencing some serious FPS problems with my Laptop recently. I Used to run games at somewhere from 60-120 FPS, but now its dropped down to 5-14 FPS. It happened recently. A couple days ago on Saturday Oct 4rth, I was playing Team Fortress 2 on Steam. I shut off my computer to go to sleep for the night and when I turned on my computer the FPS problem started almost immediately after I turned on the PC. Its not just Team Fortress 2 either, Its happening to all of my other games also. I am not sure on what to do and the only though that comes to my mind when I wonder what the problem could be is a virus. (I have virus protection Webroot but I'm not sure if it works to well.) I might have to Factory Reset my computer, but I want to try different solutions before I Factory Reset. Any Ideas?
My Laptop Info: http://gyazo.com/f1acf76e4e8e9febcec1e6e62991b297
Back up your important data and do the Factory Reset. Apply all the Windows Updates, and then try your games. Webroot is not an antivirus program. Try installing MSE:
Hi all. Well I am having problems with turning on my Toshiba satellite c50-a-19t laptop. The night before there was a smell coming from the fan so I turned it off. I put it on charge in the morning and when it was fully charged I went to use it. The white light on the front goes on for a sec and then goes straight off and the laptop don't power up. Any ideas guys ???
Sounds as though it may have over heated and something may have shorted out. you will need to have it looked at your local repair shop.
Everytime I plug in the Ethernet cord to the router. It lights up and doesn't blink. After a couple of seconds, it just goes dark and I'm unable to use the router.
It works from time to time (I always have to unplug and it replug it back constantly) and I tried plugging in the router without the Ethernet plugged in and it looks like it works fine (Lights blinking). I plug in the Ethernet after that and it continues blinking for a few seconds then it darkens.
It's a Linksys router. WRT5462 V1 (Cisco)
Have you tried more than one cable? The cable could have gone bad.
I m been having some network problems and I m really not sure to make of any of them Networking was never my strong point but I ve done everything I m capable of to try and diagnose and fix this problem So I have comcast and use my own router The last router I had was a netgear and needed replaced because it would restart itself randomly multiple times a day and I d be without internet for about - minutes at a time Instead network wireless Help connection diagnosing problems of trying constantly to fix it I just bought a linksys C to replace it with This problem started happening a little over a month ago and it manifests is self differently every time and the symptoms just don t at up in any logical way before I go out and buy a new router I want to ask you guys Obviously I get disconnected for about a minute at a time but Help diagnosing wireless network connection problems I also have long periods of just EXTREMELY slow internet Help diagnosing wireless network connection problems speeds I m talking mbps down to less than mbps The odd part comes in when I do a speed test during one of these drops in speed The speed test says I m getting all mbps of my connection but the youtube video I ll be watching will need to buffer Pages will also load very slowly but not all of them Techspot Youtube and Outlook all take forever to load during these slow downs but others will load just fine I can t figure out if this is the router or comcast It problem seems like it is a router problem because of me getting disconnected from my router but during these slow downs I can still access my router just fine and my internet speed will be displayed correctly I only have one computer connected to wifi so I can t test other machines What do you guys make of this Also what are some tests I can run to help diagnose this problem I m at wits end about this whole thing The disconnects seems to have stopped when I changed channels in my router to channel but I m still having this severe slow down issue Also as a side note I recently upgraded to xfinity and it came with a new modem These slowdowns have been occurring on both modems which leads me to believe it is the router Here is what I ve tried doing so far gt upgrading firmware gt changing ethernet cables gt changing modems gt changing wireless cards gt adjusting channels gt using different types of security WEP MAC WPA gt reinstalling windows gt using different browsers nbsphttp://www.techspot.com/community/topics/help-diagnosing-wireless-network-connection-problems.204969/

DO NOT open that "charger box." It is dangerous to do so because it can hold a charge of electricity for quite some time. Either buy a new charger from the laptop manufacture or, if you can, purchase a new charger from the likes of Targus. I have a Lenovo laptop and bought the Targas brand as a back-up. It works great and Targus supplies several adapters to work on many different brands.
Secondly, was your modem and router plugged into a surge protector or do you have them plugged directly into the outlet?
Your English is quite good.
Dvd burner will duplicate cd's fine, but the movies always say failure after endless times of trying...someone plz help
They are so cheap now it is probably worth everyone's time to just get a new one.
If you really want to troubleshoot it, put it in a different computer or OS.

I have a toshiba satellite pro and usually use the touchpad with my right hand rather than a mouse. I attached an external mouse for my daughter to use, and changed the settings to lefthanded. I disconnected and shut down. Since then, each time I restart the computer, the touchpad does not work correctly. Instead of double clicking on the touchpad, I have to rightclick. I have to go into mouse settings on control panel, and move the double click speed, click apply and then the touchpad works correctly then. Why is this? Please help.

You need to go in the nearest nokia care point at your place. You can also go to unauthorised repair shop for reformatting or reflashing.
Hello, yesterday I was using my computer and I shut it off. When I came back a few hours later, the wifi couldn't connect, and, unlike most times life this, it displayed an ethernet symbol with a red 'x' opposed to the normal wireless symbol with an 'x'. My computer stopped connecting to any wireless, though works fine with ethernet.
It is a Lenovo Ideapad with Windows 8
I've tried rebooting (I'm clueless, but not that clueless), updating the OS, uninstalling and reinstalling the computer's drivers along with some more far-fetched stuff (I got desperate) such as removing the battery, waiting a few hours, and plugging it back in, but nothing has worked.
If anyone can help, that would be amazing, thanks!
Seems your WIFI adapter is being disabled. try enabling the device in your device manager or with the Fn+function key provided in your laptop.Click to expand...
That doesn't seem to be the problem, the adapter is enabled and the computer is not in airplane mode
I recently bought a new Motherboard for my PC, it is a GIGABYTE GA-F2A88XM-D3H, it has a USB 3.0 plug in. However even though I plugged my USB 3.0 plug into it I still have no use. These are my front USB 3.0s, although the sound and mic work fine in the front. I currently am using a Windows 8 64-bit computer and have all drivers up to date, I am wondering if there is a way to turn it on in the BIOS.
It seems to me like you are plugging the USB 3.0 device into the front of your case. If they are not working, it means you probably never connected the USB 3.0 header plug from the motherboard into the case plugs.
This is what I am talking about BTW:
Just to clarify though, you are trying to connect your device using the front case USB plugs? Also, if you plug the USB 3.0 device into the motherboard directly (in the back of the case), does the device work?
I recently bought GLADIATOR R7 260X Intel i5-4570 3.6GHz Quad Core Next Day Gaming Pc - Aria PC from Aria,it comes with CORSAIR CX series CX430 430W ATX12V v2.3 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Active PFC Power Supply - Newegg.com and every so often the monitor goes off which I think may be due to a lack of enough power. Would it be beneficial to change to a Antec TPQ-850 850W Continuous Power ATX12V / EPS12V 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified Modular Active PFC Power Supply - Newegg.com that I have spare?
If you have the PSU as a spare, there is no harm in using it to see if it corrects your problem.
I have a laptop with the Realtek high definition audio and Dolby home theater installed. After the latest win8.1 update the Realtek program has stopped forwarding the sound through the Dolby program (which it managed to do perfectly before the upgrade). I tried using Viper4Windows too but that didn't work eighter. Is there an option anywhere that will allow me to fix this?
Are there any yellow (!) in the device manager?
After upgrading my MacBook Pro with Maverick, Audio Hijack Pro pretends not finding the source application for recording. Anyone the same problem?
Are you having a problem with your Internet connection or Wi-Fi? Whatever the problem ? from a flaky connection to Wi-Fi troubles or even no access to the Internet at all ? some router troubleshooting could fix things.
Some of this also applies to your modem, although many Internet service providers are handing out combined router-modem units these days. Your wireless router and modem may actually be the same device.

Hey, today i just got a new 4gb memory stick to add to my computer, currently i have 2 2GB DDR3 1333 RAM sticks.(These were both Kingston Memory Sticks) I then added a 4gb DDR3 1333 Ram stick (Crosshair) to the motherboard and made sure they were firmly placed in and it was all fine, I then turn on the computer and find that the motherboard starts beeping once then two beeps after and the Screen is blank, and my mouse & keyboard aren't responding. My current OS is Windows 7 64 Bit, so i shouldn't have a problem installing new ram to my system...
I'm not sure if this is a problem with 2 different brands of sticks or what.. but the fans are running for my Graphics card (I don't have onboard graphics available)

The motherboard does not like that 4GB module. Have you tried the 4GB by itself? If the 4GB module won't run the computer you'll have to stick with 2GB modules. How many memory slots are on the motherboard? ASUS motherboards are notorious for being very picky about memory

Hey Zac. Since it comes back after a power down and brief rest, to me it sounds like a heat buildup problem, maybe even with the CPU. Has the builder checked it out?
Last night all of my wireless devices (kids computers, laptop, IPad, and Wii) suddenly stopped working. The only thing I can seem to come up with is to unplug the router and let sit for a few minutes to see if that corrects the problem. It has not.
What else do I need to do to get my wireless connection back up and running?
That was a good try. what was going on for all your devices just before you lost connection?

It's a little difficult to pin down what your problem is without knowledge of your network and router setup, but IP collisions and connection issues that get fixed temporarily with release and renew are usually related to misconfigured DHCP settings. Such as when two routers are distributing IP addresses to the same range of systems, or when some devices list static IP address, or sometimes if a wireless device is also plugged in with a network cable, claiming the same IP address with both connections.
if you ping those google dns addresses (18.104.22.168, or 22.214.171.124) and you get errors instead of replies it just means your not connecting to the internet.
Like I said though this is generic stuff and no one will be able to be more specific until you describe a bit about your overall network layout, and types of connections.
I have been having problems connecting my laptop to the internet over my home's wifi network. Other wireless devices still connect no problem, but since Thursday I can't connect with my laptop. I have tried numerous solutions culled from google, but nothing has worked. My most recent attempt was from this forum so I decided to try here first for a solution specifically for my situation. I have an Asus i5 Windows 7 computer with a netgear wireless router. My laptop says it connects to the network (wireless router shows this connection), but it shows no internet connection. I have used my cell phone as a wireless hotspot and the laptop is able to connect to the internet that way. I used a LAN connection to assure myself that the laptop could connect to the internet and it did just fine. I am at a loss and frustrated beyond belief. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you get this issue solved?
Hi guys ive got a tricky one here, Ive recently run a cat6 straight through cable to a separate dwelling from the main house to my EVG2000 Router modem. the Cat6 cable is connected to the main house at another EVG2000 router modem. The problem I am facing is My laptop(s) and computers can connect wirelessly with internet access fine but my galaxy S4 phones, iphone, ipads and xbox's connect to the new router in separate dwelling but have no internet access how ever they work perfectly through the main house's router fine. I've tried power cycling both modems, tried different ports. I have not tried to forward any ports as of yet as I have little experience in doing so. Hope you guys can help cheers
Hey firz3h. I think I follow you, correct me if I'm wrong. Your internet connection comes into the main house and goes to the EVG2000 wireless modem/router combo. You ran a line from this unit to the separate dwelling and it connects to a second EVG2000 unit, is that so?
Do you need both wired and wireless capability at the separate dwelling or just wireless capability?
If both are needed, a wireless router should be able to have it's DHCP function turned off so that it acts as a switch which will enable you to connect 3 devices by Ethernet. On the fourth LAN jack, I would connect a WAP (Wireless Access Point) which should give you a wireless signal . It might be easier to just get a 4 port switch instead of trying to disable the DHCP function of the second router. DHCP assigns IP addresses to the devices that try to connect, and using 2 on the network will cause issues. I think this would work, correct me if I'm wrong folks.
Has anyone this problem or know how to fix it. When switch on my computer the mouse & keyboard do not work. If I then remove all the USB cables it will then work ok, after a few reboots. I am running Windows 8 64 bit. Would appreciate any advice.
So this is my current situation.
I don't know why my download is so low, sometimes it's skyhigh (~60mbps) and sometimes it doesn't even make the 1 mbps I'm hooked on straight to our main modem I even put off Wi-fi and everything and I still have around 5mbps please help
Contact your ISP and tell them your download rates are fluctuating. They have ways of testing for problems with the lines.
I'm not sure why but the sound on my advent laptop seems to be stuck on mute. It plays event sounds, email arriving, closing down etc., but won't allow music or video to play sound.
It's running on Windows Vista and I've tried Function +F5 and F6. The speaker icon, bottom right screen, has the mute symbol'x' by it. When I right-click it denies any audio facility exists.
Please help as I'm stuck in France without a TV.
There is probably a program conflict that occurs some time after boot up. How old is this laptop?
I recently bought this board(1 week ago) and noticed after installing windows 8 with all the drivers from the disk, that all my USB ports randomly started having problems recognizing certain USB devices such as a wireless dongle and a few wireless mouse and keyboard combos. There were no problems with any USB-storage devices. There are no yellow marks in device manager. I have updated the drivers, to what was on gigabyte their website, but it didn't workout. Did the same after installing Windows 7 to no avail. Have done some research and it seems there are problems regarding VIA VL800 chipset. I disabled it and it seems to help. Although it might not be the case, cause I've only tested it for 2 hours now without problems. But that means there are 4 USB3.0 ports on the back I can't use. Any suggestions please. Thanks in advance
You dont wanna disable a chipset. That is the basically the heart of the PC. The CPU is the brain and the chipset is the heart. Without it, a lot of things can go wrong. I cant seem to find USB3 drivers on the Gigabyte site. Usually when I give poeple drivers from new machines, there is usually a USB 3 driver. Pretty odd. Head on over here and install the chipset driver: http://www.gigabyte.us/products/product-page.aspx?pid=4325&dl=1#driver. On the site it is listed as "Intel INF installation". If this doesnt work, I would recommend sending back the motherboard with a complaint about USB 3 not working. Never install drivers from the disk by the way. Also, the chipset driver I provided may not be 100% up to date, but I am pretty sure it is. I would give you the Intel version that may be more up to date but their download section is down.
My old wireless setup finally crapped out so thought I d try Bluetooth with the longer range One thing I didn t know about Bluetooth at least with this particular keyboard and mouse to a small extent is that after a brief period of inactivity it unconnects or deactivates or whatever and to reactive it I have to type a key and then wait for seconds or more for it to come alive Very irritating especially like when I m trying to sign into something or am Bluetooth problems Keyboard working Bluetooth Keyboard problems on something I ve looked in the app and don t see anything where I can turn that off I don t mind replacing the rechargeable batteries more often if I can avoid that deactivating thing Any suggestions or am I just stuck with that Maybe back to quot old fashioned quot wireless At least those were quot always on quot or Bluetooth Keyboard problems whatever you d call it It s a Microsoft mobile keyboard and mouse There was a small install CD that came with them I don t know if the dongle would make any difference Thanks nbsp
Well, on the hopes there was something in the Bluetooth app that I missed, I went back and took another look.
Not much there, really. But I enabled Bluetooth Network (even tho I only have the BT keyboard and mouse and no other BT devices) and enabled sharing with other BT devices (I guess between the keyboard and mouse and dongle or ?).
None of those seemed particularly applicable when I looked at them before, but
whichever one of those did something, I did a test on the keyboard and at least
yet it hasn't shut off even waiting several minutes.
Actually, would be nice if everything PC / Windows would be that simple!
Hi there I was out of my country for a while and when I returned my family told me that the desktop computer is not working Now when I BIOS Problems try to start the system it works fine until a message appears like quot Unknown CPU detected BIOS update is required to unleash its full power Press F to continue quot This message was always there though and when I pressed F it continued on the starting process However now the F does not seem BIOS Problems to work I had a generic keyboard so maybe I thought it was because of that so I went and bought an USB one and still no progress I wanted to reinstall windows to fix the issue however I cant access bios with the del key for some reason although it is clearly stated that I need to press del to enter bios Computer is like years old and here are the specs Dual Core GHz Intel CPU gb of Ram Asus Commando motherboard W Thermaltake power supply Geforce GT Win I formatted my pc a lot of times and it always worked fine until now bear in mind that this is a computer I put together and also there is no burning smell or shutdowns happening It just stays at that message and none of the keyboard keys seem to work I would really appreciate any help nbsp
Try borrowing a keyboard that has a PS/2 connection. Your generic keyboard might have had a problem. I had to use a PS/2 keyboard in order to enter into bios on an old desktop that I had. It was annoying, but for some reason the motherboard wouldn't recognize the USB keyboard until it booted into Windows. Give this a try and see if it helps.
I have some problems with my frames.
It's not slight, to say the least
Heres the problem: I will be getting 60+ Frames on Max settings, and then it will randomly drop to about 1-10 frames and stay their for 20+ seconds, and go back to normal. Happens consistently. Even when on the lowest settings, the same happens.
EVGA GTX 770
Intel 3770k i5 @ 3.2 GHz
8 GB of Ram (But 32 bit OS so 3.2gb is being used) <---Is this the problem?
Corsair 750w Power Supply
Corsair H60 Cooler
All fans on cards/ power supply is working
I custom build this PC from my Local Microcenter, around 20 days ago.
Games with games w/ varying distance visibility mostly.
Examples: Minecraft, Arma 2.
Your RAM is the bottleneck. Upgrade to a 64bit OS and you should be fine. Make sure you clean install it (Reformat)! That should cure the issue, but if it still lingers, you may have to wait till nVidia releases the official WHQL version of the GTX 770-supporting driver. You will have to clean install that also by choosing the "Custom Install" option --> check the box that says "Clean Install". You should be good to go.
I recently bought a set of tritton 720+ headset and it is not working well. Firstly there is a constant static sound(its very soft so I dont mind if it cant be resolved and it is only noticeable when there is no other sound playing). secondly I have connected it through my optical cable port and the sound isnt working when I set the default sound to the optical port.
Any help will be appreciated
A couple questions to try to help resolve this problem:
What are you trying to use this headset with (computer, stereo, console, etc)?
If computer - what do you have it connected to (motherboard port or a sound card)?
If motherboard connected, what is the make and model of motherboard?
Have you tried to use the headset on another device that has an optical port (ie. Stereo, TV, console, etc) to make sure that the headset it not defective?
Did you buy the headset new or used?
Hello there, this is my first post.
I have been having problems with my computer I believe it to be a graphics card problem.
I use the Nvidia GTX 650 and occasionally after about an hours use the screen goes blue (Not blue screen of death) I believe the card loses connection with my TV (doubles as my monitor) and if I restart it I get what looks to be binary flashing across my screen whilst all the colours of my load up/windows logo are blotchy and not the usual colors
Any help appreciated, Thanks.
Did you do a clean install of the GPU drivers? If you did not, I suggest you uninstall your current graphics driver and do a clean install. I use driver sweeper to clean out the old drivers thoroughly. You don't have to, though. Is your GPU new?
I have to ask, too, have you tried testing your RAM? The symptoms you describe can sometimes occur when you have a bad stick of RAM in your system.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help. But stick around. I'm almost certain the more knowledgeable members can help you out with this.
Hi My dad has recently taken to working from home but his laptop struggles to connect to the WiFi but it s ludicrously slow He needs to use the wireless printer and so I told him download the drivers for it it s a HP Photosmart C The download speed was sitting at around Kbps which is ridiculous I suggested connecting it with an Ethernet cable directly from the router It says it connected but it wont connect to the internet there aren t any packets of data being received so I ran an ipconfig test I ll put the results below I network - Windows problems. First, quit all programs. Use cmd->notepad to open a new text file, type some gobldee gook on 2-2 lines and <ctl>p to print it - - DOES IT?
If so, the print driver is fine and so is the system - - MS Word needs to see a new default printer.

I am having problems with a delayed keyboard and a mouse that lags and won't click properly. Sometimes it won't click at all, other times it clicks and the computer won't register that it's clicking.
I have run all test to ensure it is not a malware and was directed to this forum for assistance.
Seems like your computer is slow. Open up Task Manager and show us the Processes tab, ordered by descending CPU usage.

Double check all connections on your board. It's not hard to miss a cable and forget to plug it in. It also isn't hard to plug some cables into the wrong spots on the MOBO. Make sure everything is secure and in the right place.

Try clean installing the drivers.
1) Uninstall the current drivers with this tool: http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/catalyst-uninstall-utility.aspx
2) Then reinstall the 13.4 driver after you have uninstalled previous versions with the tool above.
I never go it, what exactly is CAP? Also, isnt it bundled with the drivers now?
I've been having these problems for maybe 3 days. First thing was it took longer for my computer to boot up now whenever I finally able to logg in either my icons on my desktop disappear with my start menu and the appearance of my start menu and other stuff from computer look like they are in safe mode is there anything I can do to fix my computer. I can't back up my computer to a time where it was working perfectly can anyone help me?
Download Malwarebytes: http://www.techspot.com/downloads/4716-malwarebytes-anti-malware.html and run a full scan. Tell me the results and post the scan log. This will determine if your PC has an infection.
What antivirus do you use? Can you post your system specs?
Hi, I have been having some technical difficulty's lately with my Acer ASPIRE's monitor. I will be watching a video, doing work or making one of my games when my monitor will go to black-and-grey lines. So far, the only way to postpone the problem is (Once Problem has occurred) to hit the CTRL-ALT-DEL keys, which will bring to the Windows 7 Options Menu. Then just close that... But it will happen again and the fix is rendered useless I then have to restart my laptop. Any ideas? Please comment!
I think this may be a graphics card issue. Please tell me your system specs (CPU, Graphics card, OS - 32 or 64bit).
Hi Guys im having problems with my laptop my warranty has expired so i cant send Dell m1530 XPS problems it to dell to get fixed and also im in college so i really need to get this fixed fast the other night i was shutting off my laptop when a blue screen appeared i didn t get to see what it said the next day getting ready for home work i turned on my laptop as usual but this time it took almost minutes for it to start loading after loading instead of showing my my log in screen Dell XPS m1530 problems to put in my password it stays a black screen and my mouse appears after - minutes i have trying doing ctrl alt delete but no luck i have removed the battery for seconds no luck tried only using the wall cable to turn on and still nothing my laptop did always tell me the battery needed to be changed i was wondering if this is the problem or is it time to get a new laptop like i said college student money is tight since my boyfriend is the one paying and i dont want to make him spend money for nothing thank you for your time nbsp
This could be one of several problems, but assuming you can't get to your Vista desktop anymore, (is that right?) when you power on the pc, tap away at the F8 key, quickly, and straight after pressing power button.
Do you see a blackscreen with white text? If yes, scroll down with cursor key to the line 'Use last known good configuration' and press 'enter'.
But without knowing any more, your problem could be, a faulty RAM board, (5 minutes to swap in a new one, and not expensive), or a failing Hard drive, not good, or other main circuit board problem. It's not so likely to be the battery though, but try the F8 key (Safe mode) idea first.
Hi folks, I'm having problems with my wireless connection on my desktop computer and I'm really stuck! The signal regularly drops to 1 bar and the speed will fluctuate anywhere between <1Mbps up to 11Mbps (although it's usually at the lower end), and sometimes it will lose connection with the router all together.
I've used a Belkin USB dongle and more recently a TP-Link PCI Express card, both N150. My router is a D-Link N150. Both the dongle and the adapter have had the same issues. In comparison, my Lenovo Z570 laptop and before it got destroyed my housemate's HP laptop had no issues, which basically leaves me with just my PC as a possible cause or some sort of setting somewhere.
Motherboard: Asus P7H55-M LE
OS: Windows 8
If anyone has any ideas I would be really grateful!
Does your router have a password? Someone could be stealing bandwidth.
Guys,I have some question about ram.Motherboard Gigabyte b75d3v.
Here is the questions:
1.What if I use 16 GB ram of different brands such as A-Data 4 GB ddr3 1333mhz,Corsair 4GB ddr3 1600mhz,Transcend 8GB ddr3 1333mhz will it hamper my gaming time??
2.What if they have different cas lantency???also different mhz or same mhz but different latency?
Using different memory brands and speeds have a greater chance at causing problems. It is always recommended to use the same brand and speed modules for compatibility purposes. If you choose to mismatch your memory modules, I'm fairly certain you will do so on your own. I highly doubt anyone will step in and give a good word about mismatching memory.
If you seriously have need in 16GB memory, get a matching set. I have 8GB in my machine and hardly ever see usage over 4GB. If I was to need more memory for some specialized reason, I'd make certain it was a matching set.
Hi all got a toshiba satellite p200-1ee and my sister used it one night for karaoke .anyway after people in pub was helping her load van and 1 brought out laptop rested it against the speaker and it fellthen when moving van .. ran straight over the laptop yes I know what ***** put the laptop standing next to wheels.. well not laptop few cracks here and there screen is damaged .. Does it make any noises when you turn it on?
Hi guys, I have a Problem, I bought a Creative A520 a while ago, And It was woeking fine. And then all of a sudden, Sub woofer makes a noise that sounds like a Plastic bottle Crunching up; So I turn bass down and it seemed alright. And then it started being Intermittent, and randomly working while I listen to music (The bass is turned right down)
Techy Details :
Laptop I use is a Lenovo R61 with Linux running on it.
Either the speaker or the amp inside the box is probably broken or breaking. I'd check the surround and see if it's cracked or separated from the cone.
I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ18E which is experience some major problems at the moment.
Firstly, I get 'nvlddmkm' problem about every 10mins or thereabouts which causes the screen to lock, go fuzzy, blank the screen and then revive and become functional again.
This can eventually, or straight away, lead to a total fuzzy screen lock-up where I simply have to hit the off button to restart the computer.
This is also interspersed by various other screens such as those below; mixed pages, blue screen, which seem to have come from the Matrix.
The computer is about four years old and the front left of it can get very hot.
Is it just knackered?
Would a re-format and re-install do the trick?
Any ideas or solutions?
The Nvidia graphics chip on the motherboard is probably over heating. The CPU/GPU cooling port may be clogged with dust or the thermal pads or paste need to be cleaned and replaced
I received my new SDD today and installed Windows on it After I was all done installing all drivers and updates I plugged my slave drive back in that contains all my media At first when I would boot into windows I was getting a quot recycle bin on E is corrupted quot message and the slave drive kept on connecting and disconnecting while in Windows I decided to boot into my old installation of Windows drive serious having Slave problems that is on my old mechanical drive I can access the files on the slave drive but the drive tends to hang a Slave drive having serious problems lot and it won t let me copy any files off of it I ran a chkdsk f that finished but when I try to run a chkdsk r it gets stuck on stage I am really hoping that I do not lose any of this data as it is not backed up I was waiting on this new SSD to I can back it all up and now it seems I can t If anyone could help me with this it would be appreciated I really hope this drive is not dying on me nbsp
Probably a failing disk. Try different IDE/SATA port or different IDE/SATA cable, make sure they are securely connected.
So I bought a new CPU installation problems CPU an AMD Phenom II x socket AM absolutely not AM which I read was compatible with my AM socket GA-MA X-UD P a Gigabyte brand board So I tried installing it and when it booted up it got to the BIOS boot screen CPU installation problems I think its called a Post screen and it either sits there or restarts itself in perpetuity I let it sit there doing that for about minutes to see what the problem is and it seems that particular CPU was only compatible after a BIOS update So I throw the old CPU back in download atBios and the update install put the new CPU back in but it hasn t really made a difference at all still sits at the BIOS boot atBios says the BIOS is up-to-date and there isn t anywhere in the BIOS itself to confirm that so the mobo and CPU should be friendly with eachother I want to know if there are any other factors I need to know or I ve skipped when doing this I thought it was a simple process of swapping them in and out but if there s more to it or my computer isn t up to scratch in some way I was hoping for some answers and maybe a solution Other specs Windows Pro x w PSU Gbs of Mhz DDR Corsair RAM Nvidia GTX My old CPU which I have running is an Athlon x Thanks in advance nbsp
You may have to upgrade your power supply to 650 watts or so...
A little history of the laptop: I bought the laptop used from a friends and All the keys work except "O", "L" and the period. I bought a brand new replacement keyboard and those buttons worked fine, for awhile. I finally bought a new Wwindows Vista cd and installed it on the laptop, since it was supposed to have Vista and it had XP for whatever reason. Still nothing, when I unplug the keyboard ribbon and plug it back in, the keys work for a while and then stop. Any answers are greatly appreciated.
Probably a defective or worn motherboard keyboard connector...
On my laptop upstairs, it says it's connected to the internet but at random times, it will not allow me to load any web pages, and during other times it will be completely fine. I've gone downstairs and used my parents laptop and the internet connection on it is perfectly fine. Any reasons why this is happening?

How are you connected on your laptop upstairs? wireless or DSL? If wireless,it could be due to walls & floor(s).
I ve managed to get my hand in a Jeantech watt modular PSU The only problem is it didn t come with any cables except data power cable problems PSU although the mobo and CPU power cables are built in All the connectors appear to be pin so I was thing of getting some of those connectors PSU problems that turn two Molex connectors into a pin PCI-E and just using it in reverse for powering fans e c t Would this work will it damage anything On another note I put the PSU into the PSU problems case and connected it to the mobo there s no CPU yet and I can t get the system to turn on I tested if the PSU was duff by shorting a ground pin and the green cable on the mobo power cable and it worked So its either a duff mobo or wired it in wrong It s also worth noting that the PSU isn t connected to anything but the mobo I don t know if that changes anything Any help would be really useful so thanks in advance nbsp
Not entirely sure, but I don't think the PC will boot without a CPU?
Ive only had the privledge (and by that, I mean, enough money) to build a single CPU (with my brother, it was his) in my life. I recall it has (still works apart from mobo, only recently replaced) a intel core 2 quad. I see people talking about bent pins and stuff on CPUs, but I dont remember pins being on the core 2 quad. that was the easiest part I recall, just literally placed the chip in the socket (the heatsink, that was a headache). I dont recall any pins. Are pins literally pins as in thin rods sticking out of the bottom, or what?
Most modern CPU's (Intel at least) no longer have pins on the CPU, but instead the pins are on the socket.
The newer socket 1155 and 1366 (and 2011 for that matter) are just like the Socket 775 you are experienced with the Core 2 Quad you installed, just slightly larger sockets.
It is still very possible to bend pins though, but in this way, you damage the motherboard (with the CPU socket) vs. the CPU. You must be careful when inserting the CPU since dropping it on a corner into the socket CAN bend and damage pins.
So if you've built a system with Socket 775/Core 2 Quad, you should have no problem with Core i3/i5/i7 and newer Intel sockets if this is what you plan to do. Everything is basically the same... just slightly different socket and DDR3 memory vs. DDR2, which are also very similar and just snap in the DIMM slots similarly.
I hope that helps! Good luck!
I have had my laptop for nearly 3 years but I wouldn't deem it to be a poor performance laptop. Recently I have been getting slow internet, poor keyboard response and slow scrolling, and it is very frustrating!!! I share the BT 3 homehub with good connection speed which was checked and found fine! My housemates laptop has started having the same problem as mine and I really want to fix this issue. The internet, keyboard and scrolling speeds vary everyday but overall are slow performers. I have looked through some of the threads and have seen people posting long threads of code etc :/ Is there anyone out there who has the time and patience to help me fix this problem? It would be most appreciated!!!
First, get us
make/model of all PCs
of the internet modem
and any extra router attached.
Is this a rather new ISP for you and/or are the PCs newish or older ones?
Did you every have good response? HOW long ago?
I recently bought a new graphics card, a monitor and a 600w power supply to support the graphics card. I also reformatted after installing everything, wanting my computer to be in the best shape possible. It works fine, managed to connect the DVI and get the screen working. However, after I downloaded the drivers for the graphics card and restarted, I was getting visual artifacts everywhere, and my screen was randomly going from blue to normal.
After uninstalling the drivers, everything was fine again. I tried the newest drivers, and the oldest. Still have the problem. The card doesn't show up in device manager or dxdiag, it only shows Standard VGA graphics adapter. I've tried plenty of things, but nothing works. Please help
So you have no video driver loaded other the default one and you're getting artifacts. It may be time to return that card.
I have quite a few random problems with my computer they might be related but I m not sure I bought this laptop off of my aunt and Major motherboard problems? it got new guts put it in motherboard and processor right before I bough it When I received it the clock didn t work but I didn t mind Major motherboard problems? The keyboard recently started acting up the quot B quot key typed quot VB quot and the quot N quot key typed quot MN quot also when you would hit the space bar the enter key would would go off at the Major motherboard problems? same time This would only happen on occasion though sometimes restarting the computer would work sometimes it wouldn t I thought it might be a virus messing with my computer so I ran my antivirus and did a system restore It worked for about a month then started back up again I took off and cleaned around under the keys to no prevail it still does it on occasion Someone told me it might be my motherboard Then my computer stopped connecting to wireless internet out of the blue I got on it this morning to a report from windows stating that it recovered from an error and it gave me these codes BCCode d BCP C BCP BCP BCP B F F OSVer SP Product I tried Google and it brought me here I have no idea if any of these things are related or what any of these codes mean Can someone PLEASE help me decipher some of this Thank you nbsp
It's probably not a virus, the first step I'd try would be to replace the keyboard.
Hi everyone This is my RMA story Every third ASUS laptop is DIFFECTIVE I had a custom Asus gaming laptop G JX- DE G JX from Xoticpc com I can t say I have it because it has already been in the Asus repair station for more than months and I don t know when I will get it back My RMA status is still the same quot Waiting- WB Wait for Material Spare Parts quot I emailed the Asus representative Mr Tien Phan email address deleted and got the response that the issue with my notebook was duplicated and it was currently at a repair station waiting for the necessary parts to come in Because of that I began to initiate some action and look problems quality Asus laptop RMA at what I could dig up If you look at the Asus website you will see that now it only has gaming laptops G VW and G VW but there were Asus laptop quality RMA problems a dozen different models in My friend s computer market analyst said that the Asus repair station is piled up with defective laptops transformers tablets Almost every third ASUS laptop is DIFFECTIVE Since Asus started to produce their own laptops in huge amounts though previously it was focused on the production of motherboard and other components The range of its products increased in many times They tried to compete even with Apple Zenbook Pads But the Asus team just can t compete with Steve Jobs team As a result the quality of Asus products begins to fall dramatically Asus Customer Service just can t cope with the avalanche of custom claims Unfortunately the quality of the motherboards diamond in Asus crown became worse Asus laptop quality RMA problems compared to what it was before I Asus laptop quality RMA problems built three rigs with Asus motherboards last one is P X D Premium and I am satisfied with their quality But now days are different Now we need to think seven times before buying an Asus laptop Having every third ASUS laptop DIFFECTIVE is too much pcbzick nbsp
I'd heard ASUS had quality issues but just figured that's people flaming online. Now I know better. I've had my laptop go out on repair twice for the same issue (screen flashes then blacks out). On first repair all they did was swap the system board and the issue reappeared almost immediatly. Call center staff would not agree to expedite shipping on second repair. When second repair was done they could not supply a tracking number. Emails to ASUS are answered by a bot. It's not so much that the device failed, that happens, it's the followup that is miserable.
I m in problems NEC/Sony drive DVD+RW 7173A with my the process of doing some backups but I ve hit a snag with my pile of DVD RW s DVD+RW problems with my NEC/Sony 7173A drive that has happened before I have an NEC Sony A cd dvd rom which will happily play shop bought DVD s will play pre-recorded music I can burn play data music CD s etc but I cannot view what I know to be on at least some of these DVD s and nor can I burn to them properly What happens is when I put one of these DVD RW s in the tray is that there is no reponse from the E drive icon in My Computer but it will open up a separate E drive window but with no data in it If I right click on the icon in My Computer and do Properties it says there is nothing there I have tried erasing and burning these DVD RW multiple times both with MS software and Nero and I get nothing The only thing that comes close is that for example in Nero I burn some photos it says everything has done what it is supposed to but when I go to view the contents I get all of the above One other thing when burning with Nero and it asks if I want to verify data on disc after burning and I tick the box it will abort the burn towards the end of the cycle If I don t tick the box then it will complete the burn but I will still have the same problems as outlined above Can DVD s just go wrong while other formats are much hardier Tom nbsp
Did you try opening these DVD+RWs on a different device, to check whether it is the disk that's faulty or the way that drive reads them? (I had a similar problem, but it was with all DVDs, the solution for that is here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060)
Recently this has come to light during my own research into mobile GPUs that are currently available on the market as I ve been considering replacing my aged i - M laptop with M GPU I had switching technology mobile graphics AMD problems... has "Enduro" even placed an order and paid for a machine but after reading much about the issue none of it from AMD themselves other than quot For those with M - Enduro issues are also being investigated quot by http twitter com CatalystCreator back on the th of August I cancelled before the unit was completed and shipped This is mostly a problem for Clevo EM EM based laptops which AMD mobile graphics switching "Enduro" technology has problems... have no way of bypassing the Enduro graphics switching unlike Alienware products which have a hardware switch Basically there is something very wrong with this immature technology Users are finding under utilisation of their cards for example Battlefield person multiplayer AMD mobile graphics switching "Enduro" technology has problems... fps dips with AMD mobile graphics switching "Enduro" technology has problems... lower recorded GPU utilisation when it should be going flat out Even worse is when the graphical settings are lowered to try and allow for more fps to be pumped out by the GPU the situation does not improve It is as if the Enduro tech is deciding that the lower workload required at lower resolution or graphical settings means it can lower utilisation further This means that someone with FPS issues at Ultra settings can drop to Medium settings and not see any improvement in output Threads about this http www rage d com board showthread php t http forums guru d com showthread php t http hardforum com archive index php t- html And many others Facebook awareness page https www facebook com Amd mEnduroUtilizationAwareness ref ts Many owners of systems with M graphics cards are now concerned with AMD s reluctance to comment on the problems that they are just going to try and sweep it under the carpet and move on to the next generation of GPU with the next generation of Enduro perhaps one that works No one is exactly sure if the problem is even something that can be overcome with a software driver or whether it is a hardware issue that the Clevo based laptops are stuck with nbsp
The silence from AMD on this is deafening. I honestly can't in good conscience recommend anything AMD related unless they get this situation fixed. The fact that they have tried to silence other manufacturers on forums says a lot. I would feel much better if they were just open about it and said what they are doing to fix the problem.
Basically, I have a laptop that, whenever I play certain games, I get about ten minutes of game-play, then it just shuts down like I had held the power button for so long. would like an answer to the problem, as I'm getting guild wars 2 this Sunday and want it to be playable.
Games it has shut down on:
games that it hasn't shutdown on:
OS: windows 7
processor: intel core i3 m 370 @2.4ghz
ram: 2GB or 2048mb
1 is your graphics card suitable for playing the games I would say on the said laptop go to google then type can you run it then click on link thise will take u to a site that will help determine the games you can play so once on there theres 2 drop down boxes in the 2nd box look for your games then click then after click on canurunit tab and wait then the system will tell you pass or fail and on what parts for instance it might say core i3 pass but on graphics it might say fail .. if passes on all then let us know and then can look further
I've never liked remotes on the cable, they get in the way and weigh the cable down when you're wearing the headset. For that reason I got the Logitech G35 which has a roller and some buttons on the earcup, and I can really recommend them. The Corsair Vengeance 1500 also delivers excellent sound. Haven't tried the Megalodon but have owned the cheaper Carcharias and was not very impressed - sound was very average and felt a bit flimsy.

Usually you will need a 64 Bit system to be able to read any drive with a total compacity of over 500 gigabytes. If possible I would suggest upgrading to Windows Server 2012 in order to fully take advantage of your TB drives.

It's not a turbo boost, it's Intel Speedstep which lowers the multiplier (and hence clock speed) when idle to save power. If you haven't switched that off you'll find the CPU running at 2.1Ghz or so when idle (half of 4.3Ghz). It's not Speedstep which is slowing your computer's boot time, it's either because you're running a mechanical hard drive or have lots of programs set to run at startup (check msconfig), or both.

Hello all I have recently completely revamped my pc new mobo chip video 5.1 surround problems X-Fi and ram etc My problem is with the sound while trying to do anything on my pc During video games like metro wolfenstein doom crysis warhead and regular crysis and others I have issues with the sound 5.1 surround and X-Fi problems The music seems to be loud and audible but the gun shots voices of the other characters and other sound effects seem to be almost muted or barely audible Also most of the music or sound seems to only be coming from my front speakers at most times Starcraft on the other hand seems to me to be coming from all the speakers but only just the music of SC I have a Creative Labs external sound device and the Logitech z- surround speakers The x-fi is connected to my pc using the single optical cable The speakers seem to not be the problem as when i press the test option on the remote for the speakers sound comes out of each one that is listed on the digital display for the speakers However when I try to test the speakers using either the onboard audio software or the Creative Labs control panel the sound only comes from the front speakers Also on web pages like IGN when i play one of their inbedded videos the sound barely works or cuts in and out I know I am being wordy but i have tried everything i could thing of I have reinstalled the software for the x-fi over and over I have also adjusted my settings accordingly with what Creative Labs site has advised for those with the X-Fi I really am in need of help as i can not enjoy playing my games without being able to hear voices or sound effects very well I would be extremely grateful to any help that any of you can provide me Thank you nbsp

Hi I just started using a computer I built again after letting it sit around for about a year I have problems so far with it that didn t occur the last time I used it or any other time for that matter Usually windows would automatically boot up and the boot screen press tab for POST del for set up would only show for a second or before booting Now it just PS2 problems keyboard stays there at the boot screen I did unplug my hard drive from data and power before I initially turned on the computer because I thought I had a different HD in there but it was actually the one I desired to be in there do I quickly plugged it back in I don t understand why it s not booting up how it used to Could this be something to do with the hard drive itself or possibly an error in Windows I figured I was alright because I had an extra PS keyboard already hooked up to the computer that I used frequently PS2 keyboard problems to mess with the BIOS before I stopped using this PS2 keyboard problems computer The strangest thing occurred when I plugged it in though The lights on the keyboard light up for less than half a second sometimes they stay on for a second but instantly turn off There seems to be some kind of short somewhere I don t have any other computers that have PS ports so I don t know if the problem is the keyboard or the port itself If it did happen to be the port could I try something to fix it or do I need to get a new mobo hopefully not the latter Thanks nbsp
Well I just found a different keyboard and the same thing happens so it's obviously the port. What should I do?

did you upgrade to the latest drivers? If all else fails try updating the BIOS.
if that fails, save yourself the hassle of troubleshooting and RMA the card.
hello ever since I got my new video card its been working fine and everything but now there is a weird problem that happens during gaming I dont know if that problem has aname so im gonna try my best to explain exactly what happens
IM in the game without alt tabbing or doing anything but basically playing the game The screen turns black for 2 seconds and then comes back normally and it does the exact same thing 4-5 times one after another till it settles then starts doing the same thing again after like 3-4 hours I have tested it on several games (3D) and the same happens I need some assistance please
please list your Power Supply Model and Wattage, and also your Video Card Model.
So I have this problem that the tech guy at my school library did not even know what causes it I think it is a mixture of Screen display problems both hardware and software problems What happens is that sometimes when I open a new window or more commonly a web page about a third of the screen turns a random assortment of vertically striped colors - in the case with the attached picture it happened to turn white and black for the most part Functionally speaking this doesn t affect the operation of the computer as I can still click behind the messed up part and the computer responds but I have to click only through guessing that is I cannot see anything behind the stripes They disappear if the screen is shut off that s it which means that Screen display problems I have left the screen turn off option at one minute of rest Screen display problems One thing that I Screen display problems have noticed is that this usually if not always happens when I go to a webpage or document that has a black dark horizontal line or bar or large text at the top it always always always happen when I go to scholar google com If you go to that website you ll notice the black dark webpage menu thing that I m talking about So even though half the screen shuts off and doesn t display properly which is a hardware problem it seems it is triggered by some code which would make it a software firmware problem as well no I tried updating the driver for my AMD Radeon HD video card from the previous version which had been installed by the tech guy earlier today and didn t fix the problem with the newest beta version that was released literally just one week ago this also did not work Neither did the version that was installed with the computer when I bought it brand new as it was the one in use when the problems started occurring My computer is an MSI X - US I know it s along description but any help is appreciated nbsp
The LCD screen probably needs to be replaced... They do go bad
I have a Toshiba Satellite L455-S5000. I've used it for many years and all the sudden when I opened it up, the log in screen froze. I couldn't do anything so I hard shut it down. (by just holding in the power button) Now, whenever I try to boot it back up, it gives me an error message saying "pxe-e61 media test failure check cable". I've googled it numerous times but found nothing. I also tried calling the Toshiba Help Center but they wanted to charge me for the call so I hung up with them. Any ideas on how to fix this problem would be greatly appreciated!
>pxe-e61 media test failure check cable
this msg says it is attempting to boot using the NIC interface instead of the HD - - not good.
The question is if the HD partition is good &/or if it is bootable.
When I lost my Toshiba, it would not even run the POST so it was a bios/mb issue.
You need to get this drive attached to a good system so it can be analyze.

I received my new GPU on Wednesday. After running a few games I noticed a problem, namely sound interference. It only develops when I load a game. It is a buzzing sound that varies but is present even when sound is muted. It happens with the onboard sound or the external card. This problem never surfaced with my old GPU (ATI 5770).
I am not sure whether the card is defective. Could the PSU cause the above mentioned problem? I don't want to return it until I am sure the card is in fact faulty.
Any Suggestions much appreciated.
Many thanks for your help.
Is the sound coming from the GPU itself (coil whine)? Or are you getting a buzzing sound through your speakers which goes away when the speakers are turned off?
I m not too tech proficient but I m getting better and decided to tackle my biggest challenge so far I took everything out of a Gateway PC replaced the PSU and put everything back into a new full tower case Everything works great except the audio Here is the problem and details I only have an onboard audio card The new case has a headphone jack on the front that connects to the quot audio quot pin connection on the bottom of the motherboard I connected this After reassembling the audio jack on the rear of the case on the motherboard I O panel does not produce sound HOWEVER the headphone jack on the front DOES produce sound I m a little puzzled because that would seem to imply the motherboard is fine Does the I panel audio ports run off after new components case to Onboard problems audio moving of dedicated Onboard audio problems after moving components to new case power or a specific power cord that I might have placed in the wrong place or backwards Any other ideas Followup question THere is something Onboard audio problems after moving components to new case wrong with the front headphone jack maybe a manufacturer defect that is causing the left speaker to crackle and be less loud almost like a bad speaker but I tested for that In the case I took everything out of there was a single AUDIO pin connection from the front panel to the motherboard But on the new case the AUDIO pin connection had an additional identically sized pin connection coming off of it about quot from the AUDIO pin connection It had some numbers on it like a voltage rating or something unsure I just left it hang loose Any help would be greatly appreciated MORE INFO Opened realtek HD Audio manager program When I plug Onboard audio problems after moving components to new case the jack into the back I O panel the corresponding area on the diagram does light up and recognize However no sound is produced when testing nbsp
Hi, If you replaced all the cables as they were then you should have no trouble.
The front panels are in 2 groups. The USB sockets are 1 group with a cable that runs over to the motherboard.
The front panel audio board has 2 cables that run from it to a single free socket, and that plugs onto a connector on the motherboard that has 5 pins in one row and 4 pins on the other row, with one pin empty.
But I would think it's more likely the problem is the settings in Windows.
Right click on the speaker icon in the taskbar, choose 'playback devices', and if your speakers are plugged into the back of the pc, you should see them in the list. They should have a green tick over the speakers.
If not, right click on the speaker line, and choose 'enable', that should put the sound signals onto the socket where your external speakers are connected to.
* Might also be worth testing that your external speakers are working by plugging them into something you know works, such as a mp3 player, mobile, or tape player output. It's possible the speakers are not getting power. (Power LED on one speaker).
*Also check for muted audio in Windows, and the 'on/vol' control on the actual speakers.
I have a dell inspiron 1501, ati radeon 1150 xpress, 3 gb ram, 150 gb hdd windows xp sp3.
I havent had any problems with playing games on it until just recently. upgraded bios, dfraged, ran crap cleaner, memory and video stress tests came back ok. what it does is it will run just fine, sometimes I can play for hours with my external fan on and spraying the dust out, but the screen will blink black then come back, once I do something it will crash. I redid the heatsink with artic silver and it helped a little. im thinking this is a software problem, but if I knew I wouldnt be asking if someone could help or have had something similar happen to them.maybe its the catalyst control center? I dont know where to go now.
Sounds possibly like a graphic card or driver problem.
So I would uninstall the graphics driver, and re install, see if it helps, and at worst won't be any different, so nothing to lose.
so hello guys lately ive been getting some problems with my visual not those big problems though some times when I am playing or eighter just roaming the internet or desktop the screen turns black and gets back on and when I turn the pc on at first I hear some wierd noise from the motherboard what does this mean im frying my gfx card? its just a geforce 6200 which is getting scrapped with a new motherboard so just to know the problem
Ok, ANY strange noises or high pitched sounds from a PC is something to be concerned with - it could be trouble. My advice, shut down your tower, unhook everything, take it outside & blow all the dust out of it! you'll need like 3 or 4 cans of air (b/c they freeze up bout 1/2 way, need to rotate) or an air compressor w/ the regulator set no higher than 45psi. Once you have the tower cleaned out, get to a very well lit area, or get a bright flash light, expect the system board, graphics cards, any expansion cards, spin fans with your finger, they should spin freely and continue to spin just a bit after. if fans are tight, replace them. on the system board, look for swollen capacitors (they look like little 1/3" barrels sticking up on the circuit boards see image) - specifically around the heatsink of the CPU - this is where the voltage regular is for the system board. if any of the capacitors are swollen, or oozing black or while slimly looking stuff - be wary. if you have a camera, post a pic or two if you find swollen/oozing or questionable capacitors. if you have none, great! if all your fans are spinning freely, great! Just keep an ear & eye out for issues as such. FYI keeping the inside of the PC clear of dust & debris keeps it running cool. hope this helps, take care!
I really need help with this, my wireless pci-e adapter, as of a matter of fact, the D-link xtreme n desktop adapter.
