It has been a while since I worked with a slot 1 CPU. I would like to upgrade a slot 1 Celeron with a 66 MHz FSB to a Pentium III slot 1 CPU with a 100 MHz FSB.
If the FSB remains at 66 MHz due to the MB, will the PIII CPU still work, but a a reduced speed?
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
Ok, I Was Planning To Upgrade My Computer, So I Am Thinking Of Buying A Core 2 Quad Q6600/Q8200 And I Would Need A New Motherboard, Because My Motherboard Is Very Out Of Date Nowadays.
So I Would Need It To Be:-
Able To Support Core 2 Quad Q6600/Q8200
Have 1/2 (pref 2) PCI Express x16 Slots
Have 1/2 PCI Express x1 Slots
Have 2/3 PCI Slots.
4 Memory (Ram) DDR/DDR2/DDR3 Slots
UNLESS THERE IS A BETTER SLOT CONFIGURATION.
And The Rest I Am Not Totally Sure About. I'm Guessing Something Like The MS-7255 (Which I Have Now).
Thanks, I'll Give Any Info You Want.
Having a Intel 850 chipset motherboard with AGP 4x slot will it affect the video output quality of Samsung 226BW lcd? Even though i've a geforce 6800XT graphic card, resolution can scale to 1680 x 1050px but video pixel still blur and color distortion.
Trying to find an Intel PIII Coppermine Slot 1 CPU
Does anyone know where I might find one of these to revive an old PC? Thanks in advance for any responses.
Hello and welcome to Techspot.
Have you had a look on ebay?

The mini PCI-E is very ease to access under my keyboard and it just have to be inserted, and at system reboot, Windows7 will recognize straight that card and the proper Intel Turbo drivers.
It does act like "Windows ReadyBoost" & "Windows ReadyDrive" under 7 and Vista...so the system will load faster....boost the disk cache, load faster Apps & perform battery improvement.
Work on "Mobile Intel 965 Express Chipset familly" & "Mobile Intel 4 Express Chip Familly".

Any experience in return? or it is just like inserting a SD Card in the Card Reader to Ready Boost?

With 4 gigs of ram any sort of boost program isnt going to help much since it wont often be used.
I want my pc to have 3.2 ghz because of a game that i played on my other computer. It said something about open GL needed to be 3.2 or higher
We would need to know the exact model number but I am sure there is no processor available that would run at 3.2 ghz or higher on any version fo the HP g6. Ok, Sorry looking up the model at Kingston and a couple other sites didn't show your computer and seeing I hadn't seen any I was confused. Based on what I have found maybe a Model from other country. With that said it looks like it comes with 2gig DDR3L Ram and is Upgradable to 8Gig Also looks like yours comes With 1 PCI Express x16 Slot. I am not sure with the PSU and with that slot if you would be able to upgrade to a different Graphics Card. GPU and size of case would put a huge limit on what could be able to fit... My DVD drive is broken beyond repair, and I've forgotten my USB at home.
I have the installation saved on my desktop, but it won't let me downgrade unless its a reboot. Does anyone have a good multiboot program that will let me install XP on my computer?
Can I ask why you're posting in a Vista forum even though the problem is germain to any operating system?
You can multiboot in Vista and Win 7 as long as you install XP on a separate partition. Have you considered installing XP in Virtual XP which is available for Win 7 ultimate. Then you wouldn't need your drive.
Hi, can anyone tell me how to access the second slot in my e-system 1511. I was told it was under the keyboard. I can unclip the clips but there seems to be something else holiding it down. I ve looked at the back and can see no screw with kb next to it to indicate that, that is the screw for the keypad.
Appreciate any advice. I have upgraded the first memory. I ordered 2gb and this came in two of 1gb so I am assuming there is a second slot.

My opinion ...
Yes, setting up like that will have an impact. The air flow to your GPU will be restricted so it will more than likely run hotter than it did. It may still stay withing recommended specs, but it will run hotter.
The motherboard has onboard sound (Realtek« ALC892 8-Channel High Definition Audio CODEC ), any particular reason why you don't use that? Onboard sound is perfectly good for gaming and the like now, its not like older machines where you needed a dedicated card for decent quality. In my opinion, you only need a dedicated card if you are doing a lot of detailed audio work (mixing, remastering and other specific audio work). This would totally remove the issue.
This is the strangest thing I've seen in the past years of using computers I have an Acer Aspire - laptop that came with windows but I'm very picky and I wanted Windows xp back so I went onto Acer's website and won't mouse USB slot USB first other in works any slot, in only work but USB downloaded all of the windows xp drivers and then formatted the laptop to Windows XP with intergrated Service Pack The computer works just fine except for one very strange oddity - the USB mouse I'm using only works when plugged into the first USB slot it will refuse to work in the other USB slots I'm using a Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer USB which is my favorite mouse and I USB mouse only works in first USB slot, but won't work in any other USB slot have of them at home When I was formatting the laptop USB mouse only works in first USB slot, but won't work in any other USB slot I had the mouse plugged into the first USB slot and now that is the ONLY slot it will work in If I plug it into the other usb slots the red laser will come on which means it's getting power but it will not move the cursor and clicking either of the mouse buttons won't do anything When I have the Device Manager open and I plug the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer mouse into the first USB slot the 'Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer ' entry will appear in BOTH the 'Human Interface Devices' tab and also the 'Mice and other pointing devices' tab However when plugging the mouse into the other usb slots the 'Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer ' entry will only appear in the 'Human Interface Devices' but NOT the 'Mice and other pointing devices' tab I could just go about my business using the first usb slot for the mouse but this little strange problem is pissing me off hugely as I might want to switch the mouse to another USB slot based on how I have the laptop positioned on a desk or other surface I should also note that the 'Human Interface Devices' tab has a 'HID compliant device' entry in it that isn't present on my desktop computer and my mouse works on any of the usb slots on my desktop computer I wonder if this is the problem I tried disabling this entry but it doesn't help any A final point to note is that I have many other usb devices such as flash memory sticks camera card readers external harddrives gps devices and they all work perfectly fine no matter which usb slot they are plugged into Very strange indeed Is there anyway to make my mouse work in any of the other USB slots
I have seen a similar problem, but it was all USB ports that weren't working.
First, check the BIOS to make sure all USB ports are enabled, which they probably are.
Are all drivers installed and up to date? Do any yellow question marks or exclamation points show up in Device Manager?
ok the lady I got this comp from says the comp the video card its reading now is not as good as the one in the PCI slot so Im wondering how do I make it so it reads the PCI slot
The AGP vid card though comes out with a Adaptor to make it so you can plug in moniters
Anyway Should I leave my moniter plug in the AGP slot video card or put it where no video card is but goes right into the computer
and no there is no plug that goes into the PCI slot
I hope this is understanable

That's known as integrated graphics, now do you have a PCI video card and an APG video card or an Integrated video card and an AGP card?
Also what are they Radeon xxxx? or Nvidia xxxx? we need to know the model numbers to tell you which is the better on to use.
i have had trouble with my computer after cleaning it (can of compressed air) it would boot to log in screen then go black on the monitor or it would blue screen and restart.
after figuring out it was a RAM problem i tried another stick of RAM but same problem so i guess its the actual slot it goes into, i only have 2 on my motherboard lucky one of them is working still.
has anyone had this problem or know of a way to fix it, i am wondering if some of the canned air/gas became a liquid from spraying to close and got in it.
any help would be appreciated thanks.
ok so i have been looking into my problem more, when booting i press tab to show the POST?? or somthing and it says that 1 of the RAMs wouldnt/couldnt R/W (read write?? i dont know)
then i get the screen saying that windows has had hardware changes and asking to how i want to start windows (normal, safe mode, etc) i have tried all but it just restarts.
now its only with 1 of the 2 dimm slots this happens and i have tried differend RAM in there but only the 1 slot works
any help would be appreciated
i need to know which know which graphic card will fit for my computer. Ie i want to know which type: DDR ,DDR1 or ddr2 i bought my computer in 2007, but thats not enough to tell.
so please let me know how do i know which pci slot i have?
The type of memory doesn't matter, its the type of interface the computer supports among a few other things to watch for.
You likely have a PCI-Express slot, as long as it a x16 slot it doesn't really matter if its a version 1.1 or 2.0 slot.
Is this for your Dell or another computer? Whats you budget and what needs do you have for the video card?

Hi, I have a Lenovo R61 laptop. CPU-Z says my motherboard is a model 8918A11.BIOS Version 7KET59WW (1.09). Can I upgrade my T7100 to a T9500 CPU? Thanks,Steve
Yes, that CPU should work...
First of all I have a AMD FX-4170 at 4.20GHz, with an R9 270x, and my motherboard is a MSI 760GMA-P34.
I have recently learnt that my CPU is bottle-necking my Graphics a lot. During game play of Grand Theft Auto V, my processors usage is ranging between 86% and 98%, whereas my Graphics card is using about 30% to 40%.
I am in need of a new CPU but I am not in a financial position to be spending a lot, I would probably put the 4170 on eBay to get money for a new CPU. My budget would be around ú100, and then however much the 4170 is worth.
Should I upgrade my current processor to one which would match my graphics card, if so, which CPU would be recommended to play games like GTA V on medium to high settings? Or should I rebuild with an Intel motherboard and a new CPU?
Any help is appreciated and thanks in advance!
I have limited money to work with So I am core 660 8 or GTX Upgrade AMD over GTX over Intel i7 680 to ti? trying to figure out how Upgrade to Intel i7 over AMD 8 core or GTX 680 over GTX 660 ti? to get the best performance for gaming within a limited budget Basically I can find an AMD FX hgz core processor new in box for vs Upgrade to Intel i7 over AMD 8 core or GTX 680 over GTX 660 ti? intels i for about - So that is a difference of - Where I can get the GTX for about - vs the GTX ti superclocked for For gaming where would my money best be spent if I could only get one of these upgrades I am leaning towards the gb video card over the gb vid card as being a bigger difference in visual performance than the similar processors though I know the i is superior for gaming or at least that is what I have read I would like non quot fanboy quot responses Basically is the i sooo much better than an core AMD processor that it would justify getting a lesser video card I will have either a or watt power supply so I should be fine there Basically I need to know so I can start looking for the right motherboard
Hi welcome to the forum!!
What processor do you have at the moment? For gaming a decent quad core processor is all you need, a core i5 or a 6 core AMD fx 6300 is ample for todays games. Anything higher wont give you massively higher frame rates, and youll only benifit from things outside of gaming such as video editing ect.
Now GPU is the part where you want to spend the money! a 4Gb card is overkill if your running on a 1080p monitor. youll never use the added 2gb over a normal 2gb varient.
Instead of the GTX680 look at the GTx770, they are identical cards, bar the fact the 770 supports GPU boost as well as a few other new Nvidia treats.
The 660, will mearly be Ok for now, it will play the latest games but it will soon struggle in the long run.
So if it were me id spend my money on a GTX770. Neither of those processors will struggle at playing games, so its irrelevant to which you get if your sole purpose is to play games. Save a bit of money and get a core i5, or spend the extra $150 on the i7 and gain all of about 5fps! which again wont matter as the limiting factor will be the GPU which ever you choose!!
Hi, I am thinking about upgrading my Intel Processor from a Intel P4 3.2Ghz HT to a Core2Duo processor, but I am confused by a number of things.
First of all, it says that the processor I upgrade to needs to be compatible with the Intel LGA775 socket, which my current motherboard does have, but I checked on my manufactures website and they said that my current motherboard is only compatible with Intel P4 and Celeron processors.
Does the processor have to be compatable with the motherboard as well as the socket it goes into?
What is the exact motherboard model you have ?
on your system specs you have it as ASUS, but there are a lot of ASUS motherboards...
I have two Intel 520 SSD's and want to upgrade the firmware on the primary OS drive. This can't be done with Windows installed correct?
As I recall, Windows can be installed, but you use a CD. You download an ISO and burn it to a disk.
Check the above 2 links.

I do not own a gaming laptop but have recently acquired a game and wish to play it on my Toshiba C50-B. My only problem is that my laptop is running on what I have heard is the worst of Intel's HD integrated graphics chips. Driver version 10.18.10.3408. it has no model number and I think it is a 32MB card. Is there any way of either replacing the card with the newest version, or upgrading the software or anything that can possibly make it any better?

I have a Dell Precision 340 with the P4 1.7/256/400 CPU. I notice the fastest "inexpensive" CPU that might work as an upgrade is the Celeron 2.8/128/400 (for around $38.00).
Is this the best solution for a processor upgrade? or stick with a 2.0/512/400 P4 Northwood (for around $30)?? Or is there another processor that will give me a boost for not much bucks?
Thanks for you thoughts on this.
Pentium 4 is faster than the celeron because the celeron ones have lower cache than the pentuim 4. I don't think its a worth of upgrade. but if you wanna upgrade to the fastest, go with pentuim 4 2.8.

motherboard/cpu wise, not likely. The trend is for 4+ cores, but the clock speeds haven't changed significantly. So from a gaming perspective, you aren't likely to see much/if any difference in most games.
SSD - the biggest advantage of an SSD is response time. So you will still get the benefits of an SSD.
GPU - for gaming performance, the best place to invest your money. In my opinion, a single card solution is better than a multi card configuration. No configuration hassles/conflicts, less (typically) power requirements, and less (typically) heat.
Power Supply - it's recommended to run a quality 550+ unit (minimum) for performance systems and especially for newer GPU's. Video card selection will impact size needed. Your current model is questionable.

I would really like to be able to update/upgrade my processor.
Thanks ahead of time, clovis
"I would really like to be able to update/upgrade my processor"...
Why? Upgrading the CPU in a laptop never gives much gain in performance. You are limited by the 533MHz data bus. You can increase the system Ram to the max allowed (you may have the max memory installed already) and install a bigger capacity hard drive. Doing this will give you a good increase in performance, much more than just changing the CPU
Is anyone using these drivers as simple sata drivers in AHCI mode?
On W7 x64 ult., I am using version 11.1.x on a P55 chipset (Series 5/3400 sata ahci controller) with an SSD and a regular "spinner" (Samsung F3).
Yesterday I, confidently, upgraded to the 11.6.x version and on reboot the system froze solid after the Win7 logo ... ???
No solution to get out of this death loop other than to restore from a system image. (I use ATIH)
Any opinions here? Release notes claim that it should be fit for the controller mentioned.
Have you tried booting with the Windows 7 DVD and selecting repair? Then you should be able to select a restore point before the driver update.http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/265342-intel-rst-drivers-lock-up-after-upgrade.html
My intel display driver keeps on crashing, restarting and making the computer freeze. When I use HP Support Assistant I do not see any drivers on the update tab. When I use the HP website to download graphics drivers, there are two of them, and they both are not compatible with my computer. So how do I stop my computer from freezing?
Hi: There are a few variations of the 15-p247. For example the 15-p247tx is one of them, and I only see 1 Intel graphics driver (sp68116) for W8.1. Please post the product number of your notebook, which can be found on the same sticker as the serial number.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/I-cannot-upgrade-my-intel-display-driver/td-p/5726963
I upgraded to Windows from Windows this week During the upgrade I was informed that a couple of pieces of software were being removed due to incompatibility but it also removed my Intel Rapid Storage Technology IASTOR service without telling me Although I don't use RAID arrays I do have SSDs running in ACHI mode so Intels RST is useful My question is simply why on earth did it remove it and is it safe for me to try to reinstall it I have downloaded the new Windows version here but I am concerned about reinstalling as I am unsure why it was removed and why I wasn't told about it Is it normal that Intels RST was removed Is it safe for me to try to reinstall Any advice here would be appreciated Windows threw a hissy-fit yesterday when I tried to overclock my processor and got my PC stuck in a boot loop until my BIOS was kind enough to reset itself completely Then i tried to run HWMonitor which wasn't removed in the upgrade and it froze my entire PC So tbh I am getting kind of paranoid about the whole Windows upgrade stability Have to say Microsoft so far as it stands not impressed not impressed at all
It could have been your version was not compatible. @essenbe and I have installed the latest and it installed just fine.
For your CPU though, you might want to go to your manufacturers site(PC or MOBO), and see if there is a new chipset driver for Win10.

Just looking at the new Haswell processors from Intel. Thought it may be interesting to see what everyones thoughts are on the new 1150 processor.
Example on which we can work from. I will build 2 x business desktop computers both running 120GB SSD hard drives
Intel Pentium G620 / MSI B75MA-E33 total cost = ?83
Intel Pentium G3220 3.00GHz (Haswell) / MSI B85M-P33 total cost = ?104
Is there any real gain / price on the above? or is it too early to say?
Has anyone tried out the Haswell processors?
all comments welcome.
Hello ascomputers mate it might be worth asking in here I know it is a lot about overclocking but the folks in there are using Haswells .

Hallo, my hp laptop 15r003sv is very week as about the cpu but also as about the intel hd graphics card.the specs is:-cpu celeron n2815--intel hd integrated graphics--1 slot with 4gb ram--os windows 10 64bit-Now with the 4gb ram the specs of the hd graphics is:-total available graphics memory 1792mb--dedicated 64mb-I know that i can upgrade the ram to 8gb but it wont run in a dual channel mode because the laptop has only one slot.My questions are 1) will i see a better graphics performance despite that the the 8gb ram won t run in a dual channel mode?2) Will the amount of the available graphics memory and the dedicated will be increased?http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/upgrade-ram-from-4gb-to-8gb-will-make-the-intel-hd/td-p/5610030
Hi I recently moved to Minnesota, finding my motherboard unscrewed and eventually found out it was broken. I am looking to replace it. It was an Asus P5ND2-SLI Deluxe with a Intel Pentium 4 Dual Core Extreme Edition 3.4ghz. My question is what is a good upgrade for the motherboard? What are the newest and best 775LGA socket supported motherboards, particularly for gaming? I've been looking but have had no luck. Thanks.
This is a great performer:
I am considering an upgrade from the i3 4160 to i5 or i7.
Would the upgrade processor fit into an OptiPlex 3020 desktop and what would be best?
Is the upgrade going to provide a marked improvement in performance generally? I watch movies and listen to music, streaming both.
I need some help with my Alienware R I did a clean install of Win using the Media Creation Tool I seem to have gone wrong somewhere as I ve completely lost my integrated Intel graphics card It s upgrade Win after Intel 10 Graphics HD not working missing from my Device Manager and from my BIOS I only have access to the Geforce M As such I can t even install the Intel graphics card driver from the Dell Support site All other drivers Intel HD Graphics not working after Win 10 upgrade installed without issue I have Intel HD Graphics not working after Win 10 upgrade no idea when I lost the card whether during this clean install or my previous Upgrade to Win as I wasn t paying attention Note during initial upgrade I didn t follow the guide on Dell Support as I wasn t aware there would be specific conditions to upgrade Intel HD Graphics not working after Win 10 upgrade the laptop That means during initial upgrade I didn t turn off Secure Boot in the BIOS nor did I uninstall my graphics card drivers prior to upgrade Any help would be appreciated as I need this fixed URGENTLY for some pending work Please let me know if anyone of you has a solution to thishttp://en.community.dell.com/support-forums/laptop/f/3519/t/19997175

I recently bought Caesar IV and really want to play it but I can't beacuse my crappy video card doesn't support T&L or Pixel Shader.
Apparently the 82845G has an AGP slot but I don't really know anything about video cards.
What's the best type of video card I can get that supports T&L and Pixel Shader for the best price? I can always save up if I need to, but at the moment my budget is about ú150. Although I'd like to get it as cheap as I can because money doesn't grown on trees.
And also, would I have to install the card manually? If so, how?
Go to www.zipzoomfly.com, www.newegg.com, www.directron.com, and look for AGP video cards by NVidia and ATI... then look for the highest memory you can afford. Pick out a few, then do a google search by model number, and you will find reviews or additional information.
They are not difficult to install, and come with installation instructions, and an install disc.
You can also post the model numbers here for additional recommendations.
I've installed a Intel 4965AGN card in my laptop inspiron 1525

I wanted to upgrade my HP 2560P with an Intel Celeron B840 to an Intel Core i5-3320M. According to Intel the socket is the same: FCPGA988. The BIOS is updated to F62, but when I place the new processor the laptop tries to boot and immediately shuts down. Then the laptop automatically tries to boot a second time and shuts down again. I bought the i5-3320M second-hand, so there is the possibility I bought a broken one. Is it possible to upgrade the 2560P with an i5-3320M? Is it compatible? Did I overlook something? Or is the processor just broken?

I want to upgrade my Win7 dsktop to Windows 10
However I’ve seen quite a few complaints about graphics issue
I ran speccy and it reports
Intel® Q45/Q43 Express Driver version: 220.127.116.112
I went to http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/ and followed through with the requested information
It reports compatibility for Windows 8 and 8.1
Does that mean I shouldn’t bother upgrading to Windows 10?
It may work, just have a fallback image of some kindhttp://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/587943/windows-10-upgrade-concern-about-graphics-intelr-q45q43/
I want to upgrade to an Intel Core i7-4790, but the original documentation of this PC says that it only supports up to third generation. Would it be able to support up to fourth generation with the BIOs update from 2015? I want to upgrade the Wi-Fi card on the 8470p, and I've read that HP has whitelisted certain Wi-Fi cards, so only those approved by HP can really workNow the 8470p came out in 2010/2011(?) - some time around then any way, and 802.11ac wasn't really a thing back in 2011 (At least not outside IEEE offices) I found this on the interwebs: http://forum.techinferno.com/hp-business-class-notebooks/6691-installing-wireless-card-intel-ac-7260... And that person implies that it'd be possible to bang in an 802.11ac Wi-Fi adaptor and it would just work? Thought Id ask the official HP forums, considering it's a HP product!! Thanks EDIT: Solution is wrong. See jlong's pos
No AC adapters will work. Only the wifi cards that are on the whitelist which is the ones in the Manual and only the HP Part No. versions of those. The Intel cards are limited to HP Part No. versions contrary to the Wicki guy's statements. There are a couple 5ghz options, just not 802.11ac cards. Occasionally cards that are not in the manual will somehow work and I know there is a 7260N which a lot of people confuse for the 7260ac card. I know the 7260AC will NOT work as we have had prior posts here from people that tried it but it would not shock me if a 7260N card would work. Can't promise, though. This is largely a guessing game since the actual whitelist itself has never been made public.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrade-possible-to-Intel-AC-7260-802-11ac-Wi-Fi-HP/td-p/4999317

By Gigabyte system board uses "Intel Rapid Storage Technology. Version 18.104.22.1689 (c) 2003-11 Option-ROM" as a firmware function. This version does not support Win 10. I contacted Gigabyte and they pointed me to version 14 software drivers which do support Win 10. The only instructions that came with the drivers where to put it on a flash drive for Windows to read during the install process.
So I did this, but Win 10 crashed with a:
0xC1900101 - 0X40017failed in the second boot phase with an error during Boot operation.
Based on the three error messages that were given during the failed upgrade attempt, it does seem to be a disk read problem.
My best guess is that the upgrade did not see the drivers. Or maybe software drivers do not trump the firmware drivers. Anyone have any suggestions?
Can I upgrade my cpu intel to i7? My model: fz15-A8E16475GR1 serial:TJ141567M3http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Can-I-upgrade-my-cpu-intel-to-i7-My-model-fz15-A8E16475GR1/td-p/5724240
I was looking at upgrading my current system (specs below) but ive found out that the CPU/Ram alone would be in excess of what it would cost me to get a new cpu/mobo/ram combo.
What is the fastest at the moment? The AMD chips (AM2) or Intel Core 2 DUO (Unsure of the socket names)
What would be a comparative system to what i have now? I would prefer to continue using an NVIDIA mobo chipset if at all possible. Can anyone shed some light please
AMD and Intel have similar models in the market, there is no real difference in speeds. For each model of one company there is an equal to it from the other. Well, at least on the casual models. At the most "exotic" models Intel is a little step ahead but AMD will soon launch their new "Barchelona" code named chips.
However I would go with Intel (The socket their CPUs use is called LGA775) as you can get right away a quad core proccessor or you can upgrade to it later without changing your ram or motherboard. AMD will launch a quad core platform later but it will require two dual core chips, not one quad core. Also most Intel chips perform better while clocked lower so you figure out that their thermal behaviour and overclocking potential are better.
On the other hand AMD's prices are a lot lower for almost every chip. You can get a powerfull CPU on bargain price. For example in my country you can get an Athlon64 X2 4600+(Dual Core) about 98Euros! Intel's suggestion in the same "horsepower" is the Core 2 Duo E6320 priced around 170Euros...So you can get the picture.
Last thing: You own an Opteron which is AMD server CPU suggestion. If you run a server you can get an Intel Xeon, newer AMD Opteron or the Intel Core 2 Quad. Since I'm not familiar with the server market I can't suggest anything here.
As for the NVidia chipset you can get NForce 680 (or older) based platforms which exist for both Intel and AMD.
I am looking for the software download for the intel create & share software for the pocket pc camera. I know you can purchase this from intel, but there is also a website that has it to download free. The problem I have is I can't locate it now and last time I didn't write it down. I know the word shaw is in the web addie. Does anyone have any idea what the addie is??
my specs are:
intel 845ebg2 with 2.4 pentium procesor
my current memory is two 256 sticks of pc-2100 266hz
my question is what is the fastest, best memory for that board
(intels states this board can handle 2 of 1gig sticks)
please be specific because i know next to nothing on memory (always took what the sales person gave me)
Here is the manual for your motherboard:
Have a look at page 12, some very specific details on the ram you need.
So it looks like two sticks of these:
should work nicely in your system.

yah just a question, and if so give me a price range please for a pci
You can't add a slot to a motherboard.
How old is this computer that it doesn't have a PCI slot? Those have been around for quite a while. Are you sure it doesn't have one? Even AGP is not new technology.
EDIT: After seeing your other thread, are you asking if you can purchase an AGP or PCI video card? That's a totally different question, and the answer would be yes depending on which slot your motherboard has. How much it costs depends on what you plan to use the computer for. A simple one is cheap, and high-end gaming cards can get expensive.
My laptop model is ES1-431. Would it be possible to upgrade the Intel Pentium Quacore Processor N3700 to Core i5? Or i7 maybe??I need to use it for photoshop and adobe illustrator (for work) so a better CPU really is needed. I know that if I upgrade the processor, I would also need to upgrade the RAM to be compatible with the cpu, right? But I don't know which ones should I upgrade (maybe fan included??), so that it would go smoothly. Can you recommend and advise on what should I buy to make this possible, please? Or will photoshop and adobe illustrator run smoothly without upgrading the processor? I'll just upgrade the RAM & SSD? And video card too?? I have a Toshiba NB 550D that i have upgraded the hard drive to an agility SSD, the memory to 4gb and installed windows 7 32 bit and I would like to install a new mini wireless card.
However, i am uncertain if the bios will accept this.
The card i would like to install is a Intel n-6230. However, can't establish it would be ok.
Does anyone have any idea if the device would accept this?
All help much appreciated. Link below
>Does anyone have any idea if the device would accept this?
I think this is a point where nobody could be able to provide an 100% right answer?
Since there are no inforamtions what devices would be supported and recognized by BIOS, we can just assume about the compatibility?
Found more details here:
As far as I know the NB550D series was equipped with different Wlan cards
?? Atheros 802.11(b/g)13ch-HB95 MOW-HMC
?? Atheros 802.11(a/g/n)13ch-HB116 MOW-HMC
?? Realtek 802.11(b/g/n)13ch-RTL8188CE MOW-HMC
?? Atheros 802.11(b/g/n)WB195-HMC w/ BT V3.0+HS
?? Atheros 802.11(b/g)WB195-HMC w/ BT V3.0+HS
So these Wlan card would be compatible for sure...
The Intel N-6230 is an mini PCI-E Wlan card and the notebook supports the PCI-E slot so theoretically it should functions.
my wife has a lenovo flex2 14 laptop that has intel HD family onboard graphics card in it.and was running win 7 on it perfectly she clean installed 8 then upgraded to 10 and everything is fine except the display she has installed the win 10 driver for her laptop from lenovos sit but complains that text is a bit blury and that windows (in the software she is using) doesnt display as much as it used to on the previous win7 despite the resolutions being the same
any ideas how i can correct this for her...so she can continue loving me?

I have just upgraded from intel e8400 an Intel Q9400 CPU in my ASROCK G31M-S mobo and when I turn on my PC it boots to windows logo and then just freezes. This happens every time.
Could this be a dead cpu or would updating my bios make a difference? Any help would be massively appreciated.

Here's the Asrock CPU support list, it only shows a different BIOS for a couple of Q9xxx models: http://www.asrock.com/mb/cpu.asp?Model=G31M-S
Have you booted into the BIOS to see if the CPU is recognized?
Hi! Can I ask, will the T9500 (or T9300 or X9000) 45nm Penryn CPU work on my HP 550 FS336AA laptop with GM965 chipset (current cpu T5270 65nm Merom) ?Will it require BIOS upgrade? As I was not able to find HP firmware, as on their official site the only firmware file which has "Initial bios files" in description, so I don't think this is an upgrade. Does anyone know where I can find it, if it will be necessary? Thanks
Unfortunately your notebook does not have BIOS support for the T9xx CPU. There are no available BIOS uprades for your notebook. If you want to upgrade the notebook, you should consider putting in a 2.5" 9.5mm SSD instead of a CPU.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Upgrade-HP-550-FS336AA-Intel-GM965-Express-800Mhz-from-T5xxx/td-p/4611758
I have tried downloading the updated driver I need for my ME operating system at INTEL's website and none of their downloads work. Any other place to get what I need?
It is a video driver for Intel 82810 graphics controller. Thanks, Hotskates
I'd like to upgrade a PC which so far was running on WindowsXP to Windows7. The Microsoft Upgrade checker told me that the hardware is okay for Windows7 (2 GB RAM, CPU Intel Pentium4 2x3GHz).
To be on the safe side, I checked the Intel homepage regarding the mainboard D875PBZ and found out, that there seems to exist no driver for Windows7 (or 8/8.1).
What I am surprised about though is that the upgrade checker did not warn me in this regard.
I would assume that if there is no mainboard driver for Windows7 I definitely cannot upgrade this system from XP to Windows7, right?
On the other hand, what is the Microsoft Upgrade Checker good for if it does not recognize such essential things?
Any ideas as to what I can do?
Theoretically your board is capable of running "Windows 7" ( BIOS and chipset is okay ) and that is why "Upgrade Adviser" reported it to be compatible. I have successfully installed and managed to tun "Win7" on systems which has lower specifications than yours - such as one with 865 and 845 chipsets. However performance will be marginally low when compared to a modern system. SO i would highly recommend to upgrade your CPU (you can keep the old monitor and save cash )or buy a refurbished CPU which can run 7 fine.
However if you really want to check whether your system is capable of running 7, you can download genuine "Windows 7" install media from "Digitalriver" ( a Microsoft subsidiary ) and use that to do a test install on your system. Both download links and performance optimization tips are covered in the tutorial Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
Dear All,I have new laptop (lenovo y5070 intel core i7-4710hq) with 8GB Ram, 4GB for each slot.I want to upgrade to 32GB, is it possible?and to upgrade, should I use 2 ram slot or one possible?
The most ram you can use is 16gb 1600mhz. It's limited by the CPU, and also by the DIMM slots. Its impossible to find 32gb in 16x2 SODIMM. But 16gb (8x2) is plenty .P.S. Use 2 slots if possible, dual band is faster than single.
Y510p: i7 4700MQ (Overclocked to 3.6GHz), SLI GT 755M (Each Overclocked 111MHz), Corsair Vengeance 16GB 2133MHz, Samsung 850 Pro 256GB, MyDigitalSSD SuperBoot 128GB, Intel Wireless-AC 7260, Windows 10 HomeDell XPS 13 (2015): i5 5200U, Intel HD 5500, 4GB 1600MHz, 128GB Samsung M.2 SSD, 802.11ac WLAN, Windows 10 Home (School Laptop)
I have a legacy intel pc thats chugging along pretty well. I currently dont have the option to boot from USB. However it seems a later version of the bios solves the problem but I wanted advice before I do anything and also pointers on how to update, if thats the way to go.
Motherboard: Intel D815EEA
I downloaded a document from intel which seems to suggest version EA81510A.86A.0051.P11.0051
and above have USB boot enabled from the BIOS.
Should I upgrade and how do i do it?
If it's an OEM (brand name) PC, you should only use BIOS updates supplied by that manufacturer (via their website), as those direct from Intel may not be the right one for that board, so you could end up with a non-working PC and no easy way to fix it.
Can i replace the current processor i3-330m with the i7-640m or Intel Core I7 740QM or

My sons' ThinkPad Yoga is extremelly slow when surfing the web. Can it be that the original wireless card does not support current wireless technology standards? Is there a recommended wireless card upgrade for this model? The hard drive is almost empty, he only uses it for college work and basically uses MS Office products. No gaming applications in this box. See system specs attached. I updated all the drivers. Any ideas?

The Windows 8 upgrade from Windows 7 64-bit will not continue until the Intel Network Connections is uninstalled.
However, Intel NC will not uninstall. How can I uninstall Intel NC when the uninstaller won't work? And what are the consequences if I do remove it?
Thanks. Any help appreciated.

Thanks for the quick reply EJN63,
That does make sense, I believe the mSata port is Sata 2 where as the my ssd is on a Sata3 port.
So basically, now my 32Gb mSata is kind off useless.

Hi,I just bought a new Intel 7260 AC mSata wifi card from an IT shop to my Lenovo ThinkPad E540. ( not alibaba, ebay... ) When I pluged into the mSata slot the laptop did not started, showed only one BIOS error message:"1802: Unauthorized network card is plugged in .....System is halted"I googled a bit this error and it said that my wifi card is "not genuine" ?How can I decide if a card is working with my laptop or it will not ? I do not have any databases with VendorIDs, FRU part numbers and BIOS ids to any card to match them. And why I can not use any mSata wifi card ?Pictures about my new wifi card:https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxyNqtcrn7ORQ3kyUllDLWZJZm8/view?usp=sharinghttps://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxyNqtcrn7OROU5HUk9Lb28wRlE/view?usp=sharingAndrew.https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-IdeaPad-100-305-500-Edge/E540-1802-error-after-WLAN-card-upgrade-Intel-7260-AC/td-p/3321288
I have an Asus P8P67 pro mobo with the Intel(R) 82579V Gigabit Network Connection network adapter built in. It currently is using ver 11 driver.
I found the latest driver (PROWinx64.exe) to update it (I'm having some issues).
When I try to update it, I get an error box that says:
"The installed version of Intel Proset is not supported for upgrades. You must uninstall it before installing this version".
When I go to Device Manager to uninstall the Gigabit Network Connection in order to install this update...Windows re-installs it before I can run the update. Thus I can't update the driver. How do I stop Windows 7 from automatically updating this driver so that I will have time enough to manually update it with the downloaded newer driver?
I'm Running Windows 7 64bit
Uninstall through Programs and Features in the Control Panel. Uninstalling through the Device Manager is only temporary and does not actually get rid of the driver. Basically, it just disconnects the device from the driver. As you found out it will reinstall itself every time you restart the computer.
