I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So yes, it is compatible with EU providers. Caution however; your current provider will bill you for roaming charges. When in Europe, I always buy a local SIM card and fund it with enough credit to last the trip - - that will also give you a local phone number. If you book theater events or need to call for reservations, they will be more likely to answer the phone.

Hi, i live in Australia and bought a phone from eBay and it came from over seas, and the battery just drains even while nothing is open and is sleeping i heard that buying phones from over seas is bad for the battery because of the carrier e.g. im on telstra, and the phone might be designed for some other foreign carrier, and they say that this will drain the battery, because of compatibility or something. does anybody know if this is true? its a Samsung galaxy note 4 it is relatively new so maybe it just hasn't been worn in yet i don't know,

A:Overseas phone

No...the carrier has absolutely nothing to do with battery life.

Our school uses proxy that requires username/password authentication to connect on Wifi. Good thing is Windows Phone 8.1 has option to turn proxy on/off and sign in to proxy. The problem is after setting up the network connecting to it, my apps still can't
connect to the network (some apps for example are Facebook app, Skype, other 3rd party apps). The IE and Windows App Store can connect to the network though. I am currently looking for 3rd party app that can provide global proxy authentication so I can connect
my apps to the internet but I can't one.

How can I tell what is on it and who it is?

There is a Motorola phone that I have picked up on Advanced IP Scanner. I want to know who it is and how to see it. I can see it and when I run RAdmin nothing helps. Any help, please?

A:Phone on my network

What exactly are you trying to see? Your scanning software probably reported the IP address and MAC address of the device. It's not going to tell you the name of the owner of the phone. I believe that RAdmin is for remote access to a Windows based computer, running the RAdmin Server module. Motorola phones typically are Android based.

I have just recently been given a free Mitel IP Phone from a friend of mine that had an extra one from his business I want to utilize it with my new home office However I m having some issues IP Network Phone Setup getting it setup Here is what I ideally wanted the setup to be due to the location of my office computer I setup the network on the computer itself to be a bridge where it s connected through a wireless adapter so I could connect an ethernet cable IP Phone Network Setup Cat e to the back of the computer and it act as a LAN line out to the phone The PoE injector that came with the phone has the ports for the LAN and then another out to the phone I plugged the cable from the computer into the correct port and then the other cable into the back of the phone This causes the lights on the injector to flash from IP Phone Network Setup amber to green This also causes the phone itself to flash all of its lights for a fraction of a second and then right back off indefinitely over and over again I thought it may have been where I was using the computer as a bridge but I even tried directly from the router and it did the same thing where it just flashed over and over again I took the phone to my friend s business and asked to use one of their existing phones to swap out to see if it is the phone or the network When I plugged the phone up to his network the phone turned on without any problems at all I used the same PoE injector and everything So it has to be with my network that needs setup properly for the phone to completely boot What are the steps I need to take with my router or anything at all to set this phone up I mean step by step and help guide me I m good with computers but not excellent It s just the one phone I m trying to set up I ve looked everywhere online and I either find something that doesn t make sense or doesn t apply This is driving me crazy From what I read online there maybe something to do with firewall ports or adjustments to the router s settings I just need to know exactly what I have the latest version of Windows nbsp

A:IP Phone Network Setup

Unless you have some sort of call manager, you're not going to be able to use that phone. Based on the available information I can find, this looks like a SIP phone. What you're seeing when you attempt to boot the phone on your network is the Mitel looking for a DHCP server to get an IP address. In addition to pulling the IP address, it's probably looking for a TFTP server. The reason why it is looking for a TFTP server is to download the config file with information such as what the IP address of the call manager is. Once the IP phone gets the IP address of the call manager, it will attempt to register with the call manager. When the registration is complete, the phone is now fully operational and you're able to place and receive calls. The phone also may download any new firmware from the TFTP server. Many times the TFTP server is the same as the call manager.

What I described above is typical for most VoIP systems and how the Cisco IP phone system I have implemented in my house works.

If you are really intent on getting the Mitel functional and you want to keep costs to a minimum, you need to research setting up an Asterix/Trixbox. I did one of these a long time ago until I got my Cisco 1861 router which has a built in Call Manager Express. Depending on your phone service, you may have to pay for a SIP trunk from a Telco provider if you don't have a regular analog/POTS line. If you do have a regular analog phone line from your Telco, you'll need to buy a FXO card to allow your call manager (in this case the Asterix/Trixbox) to be able to place and receive calls over the analog line. An example of a manufacturer of these cards is Digium; which I also used in my Asterix/Trixbox.

You'll learn a lot by doing a project like this, but it's not easy. There's a reason why there are people who specialize in designing and deploying VoIP systems.

Hello all,

This scenario has had me perplexed for the past few days, it's not so much an issue; rather the fact I do not understand.
As it is now, both my smartphone and PC are connected to the same private WiFi network, now what I have discovered is any other computers, including game consoles appear in my network once connected to the WiFi, however despite this my smartphone does not appear. I'm not entirely sure why this is the case but any additional information would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Do you get a "Settings" (Mi cuenta) link at the top right side of the Google home page? That should let you change the language for the user interface as well as choose the languages of the pages that show up in the search results.

im pretty sure i know the answer to this already but just wanted to validate my suspicions.

If i buy a motherboard from the US and try to use it in Australia will i have any issues with it because of the difference in power etc.

Im pretty sure that the power supply handles the raw power and regulates it to the board in the manner in which it needs it so then the amount supplied to the board would be dependant on the psu not the board, but just wanted to know for certain before i buy a mobo off ebay

could someone please let me know?

thanks

An old boss of mine asked me to work on a project for him and i am open to suggestions of some things you might recommend.

below are the specs of the project:

he is opening up a business over seas and he wants to be able to monitor it from here in the US. Some of the things he must have are the following:

in simple terms.
*8 Cameras with live feed and recording available.
*POS system which he can also monitor remotely.

My thoughts on this project.

Im thinking 4 Computer systems:

*1 POS server
*1 Camera Server
*2 POS System
They have your basic DSL connection out there.

what are my options as far as being able to access everything remotely 24/7. with little downtime if any.

what do you guys recommend as far as cameras and monitoring software as well as remote access software.?

Im open for suggestions and comments

A:Overseas project

I would definitely upgrade the DSL line to something faster if you can get it. Monitoring web cameras over the Internet is going to take alot of upload Bandwidth at the store. If he wants 24/7 remote access with little down time the he needs to find a provider that will guarantee that within the service contract. That is going to cost extra money to get a better Internet connection with guaranteed minimal downtime.

I know being overseas lets me fall behind on tv shows, but I can't even get to watch anything from the major networks websites. I get the message that it's for US only. I was wondering if there was anything I can do to help get an US ip address so I can watch some shows and maybe even get to download some stuff on xbox live. Gears of war is banned where I am at so getting the online stuff is impossible.

A:MIlitary overseas

Theres a few things you can do, mostly proxy or VPN stuff try http://hotspotshield.com/ for an easy solution though I'm not sure what the performance will be like. I know it says stuff about security etc but thats for marketing reasons, it'll get you a US IP address.

For Xbox stuff you'd probably have to do something similar but at a router level, which might not be possible depending on the local network setup.

If you're on some kind of local base network with a range or domain specifically assigned to the military try contacting the local sysadmin and see if he can get it allowed or do something for you.

I'm ignorant of such things but I'd of thought the military would have been more sensitive to things like this, preventing culture shock and building moral etc.

I am attempting to use my tethered phone to set up a home network that my whole family can use until the cable guy can get here in a couple of weeks. I have a router sitting next to me I assumed I would be able to use... However no such tutorial exists online.

I have tried Creating an Adhoc network, but I have no idea how to get that created network to actually appear to other computers, let alone somehow grant that network access to my USB tethered phone. Next I tried bridging the phone connection with the LAN connection to the router... I didn't work at first, and then after I fiddled for a while I started getting an error "An unexpected error occurred while configuring the Network Bridge". I have no idea what to do. Any guidance would be much appreciated.

If I were to download an app and it turns out to be infected, can that spread over my network to my computer or other devices? I know anythings possible. Just is it something I need to worry about now? Or should I be able to use my phone an not worry about anything jumping onto my computer or other devices over my network.

Some misc info that you might need:
I use an Android Phone that's not rooted.
I would be downloading apps outside of the google play store. So I'd have to have the option checked to allow that.

Yes, what you read is true.
As soon as that phone rings, my wired router and modem both time out.
The problem isn't fixed until the phone is hung up. After that everything goes back to normal.
The phone is a 2.4Ghz Vtech. It's about 4 years old.

Kind of annoying when you're in the middle of a fragfest in BF2142.
My assumptions are that it's either the unshielded CAT5e I'm running, or the router/modem are unshielded.
Though it did just start happening recently.
=/

Hope you can help me with this problem.
Regards,
Nostril.

A:Phone interfering with WIRED network.

This is not the CAT5e cable, or shielding on the modem/router.
If this is DSL, it's probably the filters and/or interior phone wiring. My RX for DSL wiring.

Purchase a DSL splitter and install it at the telco service entrance. Run a direct line from the DSL port on the splitter directly to the DSL modem. Connect all of the other phone instruments to the telephone output of the DSL splitter. All of the DSL analog side wiring should be CAT3 or better twisted pair from the telco service entrance to the DSL/ADSL modem. You can use one of the twisted pairs in CAT5 cable if you have that on hand.

This is as good as it gets for DSL installations, and will usually solve in-house wiring issues.

Here's a good detailed description of the process: DSL Wiring Upgrade Tutorial

Hi!

I want to acces my phone's internal memory and/or sd-card as a network folder (through wifi). Just like windows pc-s and laptops. How can I do this?

A:How can I set my Android phone to appear as network folder

As far as I know there is no way to enable SMB Share on Android without downloading some software to the phone, There are quite a few file managers that have the option to enable file sharing with almost any OS.
The way I do it on my phone is with a program called AirDroid there is a free and paid version, I use the free version and as far as I know it is not capable of SMB share, you connect to it from a web browser.
There are other option's, you could run a FTP,HTTP server but I'm not sure if it would work since Android is based on Linux and with Linux any port below 1024 requires root.
Now that I think about it SMB requires ports below 1024 (port 445), so any solution you come up with will require that you can change the default port to something like 8080 which is a default port for many Linux OS's to start a service without root.

If I connect to an overseas server, but the the VPN is based in the USA do I gain any extra layer of privacy protection from prying eyes from TPTB in the USA?

Does it make it harder for them by having to go to that countries legal system to get the IP or do they just easily find out the VPN is from the USA and the VPN gives me up like a rat

I dont have any actual adivce, but I'm wondering why you want to import the hardware. I'm an Australian and I find we have plenty of good retailers, especially online. Or can you get massive savings or products not available here by ordering overseas?
For Australian retailers I reccomend Cougar (http://www.cougar.com.au) they are a great store and deliver all over Australia.

Hi...

I want to get some help from this forum. In my company we are using Fortigate Firewall Device that supports SSL VPN capacity. We have an Oracle Application installed on an Application Server. There is an inbuilt DHCP Server in the fortigate firewall device that supports upto 25 Users worldwide. hence when the overseas users connect to the VPN, they are automatically in a single network and are able to use the Oracle Application.

Now we are grown to more than 7 Locations overseas and average of upto 10 users in each location.
We are now confused to choose options in changing the Infrastructure of our company.

Please tell us what is the standard that is followed in Enterprises that have overseas branches.

The one it comes in my mind is IPSec VPN Connectivity. please help me in this problem.

Thank You

Im planning to do a LAN for internet/file sharing and of course LAN game party's
There are people that living far from each another like 1 mile away.... thats a problem.

Cat5 Ethernet cables are not made for long distance connectivity ( 100 meters of length max, otherwise bad connection).

So because i need a connectivity between pc's for long distance I can use Wireless, expensive, and because I prefer wired
and I heard that there is a way to convert CAT5 cable into phone line, because phone lines can be used for long distance connectivity without problems.

So I wonder if there is a way to do that LAN connectivity using phone lines.
RJ45 to phone line, do they exist these adapters? if yes, will this work for me ?

Thanks

Anybody out there using the Intel Anypoint Phone Network Adapter? I'm having problems getting games to play over the network. Surfing web with DSL and moving files etc is basically ok. I got one PC acting as a server with 98, and four PCs as clients with 98/Me.

I think it has to do with TCP/IP conflicts with other cards like ethernet.

Any experience out there?

Also is anyone using the Intel Phone adapter on a labtop with Win2000 and Novell network software? Any conflicts plugging the laptop at work then using it at home on the home network? Any special settings etc.

Thanks

A:Intel Anypoint Phone Network Adapter

Hi there -

Yes, I use the same thing here at my home between my work system and my boys system.

I think it is just super slow because it uses a regular analog phone line, hence the problem playing graphics-intense games.

Aside from that, I've had no problems.

I travel to the UK for work regulary. With all the electronics that I end up carrying, I never have enough adapter plugs or the way the wall plug is in London, I can't get the adapter with my US plug to plug into the wall sockets int he hotel rooms.

I was wondering if I can take a US power strip with me, plug that into a US-UK adapter or 110v-220v transformer and connect that into the wall socket and then plug in all my device chargers to the US power strip.

There are 2 types of plug adapters. One is just a straight thru US prong to UK prong. The other one is the classic transformer type converting 110v to 220v. Since most all electronic devices automatically detects the voltages, can I just use the straight thru adapter instead of the transformer with the power strip.

Thanks,
Jerold

Hi,

Recently I've been getting problems to connect to my internet wirelessly whenever someone is on the phone sometimes. I'm using Rogers High Speed cable internet. I recently switched to another landline service (from Bell to Rogers, Toronto). I suspect it has something to do with Rogers installing a cable modem thing for my home phone. Is it possible that the landline phone cable interferes with my internet connection? Or is it just due to the interference caused by the cordless phone?

Thanks.

I'm using my Windows 8 ASUS EEE PC to try and connect to a wireless network. It's not available in the list.

I use my phone (Windows Mobile 6.5) and see on other people's laptops (XP, Vista, 7) that it's available and those devices can see the network and connect without problem.

I've tried to manually add the network with no success.

I've tried to check the routers settings to see what level it's broadcasting on but that should just be average b/g but I can't check for sure, because I don't have the password for the router.

I don't believe there are any special settings as the router is set up to cater for standard users.
Why can my machine not see it?

Ive had no such problem in the past with any other wireless network.

Not sure if networking is the right place for this.

My boss is having a weird issue with his Win7 workstation. Whenever he connects his iPhone, browses to the iPhone drive listed in Explorer, and opens a photo from the phone, it causes mapped network drives to start appearing. One time I saw his screen and it had every single drive letter populated C thru Z!

We run a domain server in the office with workstations, and users log in to Active Directory, which runs a login script to map Z, Y, X and U drives. There shouldn't be anything else besides those, C, D optical drive, and a few more on machines with internal card reader drives.

Anyone ever seen this happen before?

A:new network name everytime i tether my phone's internet to my laptop

Fatinurain, welcome to the windows 7 forum.

The main reason that you get that prompt is that each time you connect your phone to your computer, the phone might have a different IP from the phone's isp.

You might just have to live with it and do what it says,.

Hello.  Many computers on my network are sending out lots of very strange UDP traffic on high-number ports to US and foreign IP address (including China and Russia, which has me concerned), as identified by looking at outbound traffic on our router. (screenshots below)

My first through was Bittorrent traffic, but I have gone to the computers to rule that out (including an unmanned Win7 file/print server with no extra software on it) and I can't find what's causing it.

I have narrowed down the broadcasting process ID on a machine, which is coming from an instance of svchost.exe, but short of force-quitting the process, I can't find out what is causing this.

Windows 7 Pro SP1 x64.  Vipre AV (clean scans, never infected).
MBAM scans: clean.  TDSS Killer: clean.  Poweliks: clean.

Router Outbound Traffic from machine:

SVCHost.exe traffic from offending PID:

Services registered to this PID:

Any suggestions, ideas or help?  I'm stumped.

A:Unknown UPD Traffic going Overseas from svchost.exe process

Firstly I would go through each IP address in the "outbound" traffic, look them up on who.is and note them.
Next find out via eg google with services typically use UDP port 64240.

Supply us with the information with what you find.
I've edited my previous post.

Moving to Israel January 2005 but want to buy a new Dell system here. I know the CPU is switchable to 220. But what are the hardware compatibility gotchas I should consider. Any issues related to monitors (plan to get a Dell flatscreen) or printers (I have a Brother 1440 personal laser).

Thanks!

A:Moving to Israel - Overseas Hardware Compatibility

Hi...

As far as I know, Israel is on the European standard of voltage... 220V at 50 Hz. So, your computer itself will not have a problem since the PSU is switchable to 220. You will most likely need a new power cord or an adapter for that specific countries outlets. However, the end that goes into the computer are all standardize and I'm sure you can get one of those when you get there.

Now, your monitor is most likely auto switching, so it will detect the current. However, it is always worthwhile to ask the dealer where you purchase it if it is autoswitching or not. Not all monitors have the power supply that is autoswitching. Also, if it is autoswitching, you will have to get an adapter for the power cable for the outlet side. Same as with the PC... or a cable provided it can be detached from the monitor or does not have an inline transformer on it.

Your printer... You won't be able to use it. Not unless you use a special transformer that transforms the voltage from 220 down to the 110 standard. So, do not hook the printer up to the 220 voltage directly.

One other thing that you most likely will have to replace, would be your modem. Some modems can be "flashed" to met specific country coded specifications on the communications networks. However, considering the price of modems, I would just purchase one when I got there, provided you will even be using a modem.

Other than that.... you shouldn't have any other problems.

A friend, normally US-based, is traveling in Italy and is having some problems getting to the US-based web sites she needs.
For example, if she goes to a well known website like Netflix, (even if she clicks on the favorites bar or keeps writing www.netflix.com in,) it switches over to https://signup.netflix.com/global and won?t change back.
Has anyone had similar problems? Solutions?

A:Traveling overseas, trouble accessing websites

Yeah, that is a problem - especially in the bigger European countries. You always get the local flavors. I have the same problem in Germany and France. It takes some searching and the use of different search engines (Bing, Google, etc.).

Sometimes the webpages themselves have the option to switch to a different country. Be on the lookout for that.

Just had a new pc and I need to connect to another pc at my home to share files, music and our printer.

We are both gamers, so we have two dedicated telephone lines, one is on BT Homehub and the other is Talk Talk.

The BT Home Hub PC runs Windows Vista and the other (mine) runs Windows 7.

Both are wired currently but I have a selection of old kit. I have two wireless Netgear adapters (WN111v2 and WG111v3) and one Netgear Modem Router (DGN2000).

Is it possible to connect these up, using what kit I have please?

The printer is currently connection to my pc (the Talk Talk, Windows 7 one).

Many thanks

Not sure if I am understanding your current setup... what do you mean by two phone lines? Your on dial up connection, or?

If dial up, why do you have a modem/router?

If all you want is to connect the 2 PCs via the wireless adapters then you want to set up an ad hoc network... Here is more info: Set up a computer-to-computer (ad hoc) network

A:Downloaded US install via VPN from overseas. Causing app store probs?

FYI... I changed my location settings, in at least one (and possibly two) places, and now I'm on the Korean app store with familiar Korean apps in Hangul. Seems they are running and installing fine, too. No reinstall was needed.

Just for those who are curious... seems like there are different app stores, much like the Playstation Network. There is more content on the US side, with more news, X-box movie, and TV apps, if I'm seeing it right. Many media apps must be blocked for legal reasons and whatnot. Not sure if you can switch between different app stores or not. As I mentioned, my original download of Win8 was over VPN, so it came from the US. Not sure if there are non-US versions that are different in what they will allow you to do with the local app stores.

A:Hi.I have a problem my phone is stuck on airplane mode my phone is lumia 520

This problem has been pretty well identified as a fault on the daughterboard that houses the antenna (and other components). Try this method to "jumpstart" the bridge between mother and daughter boards: 1520.3 airplane mode stuck Look here for how replacing the daughterboard corrects the issue: Lumia 1520 stuck in airplane mode? It is caused by a defective microphone/usb daughterboard.

I know this is a PC based forum, but I had a question about phones, lately I have been having phone calls, where I have had other people's calls coming through into my call, how can I get this to stop happening? I have heard it happens through such carriers as Verizon, Sprint, AT&T, etc.

A:Phone Calls crossing with another person phone?

You do not state if this is Mobile or Landline.

Landline phone:
Check the wiring at the switch something may be crossed.

May need to change the channel on wireless phone may begetting bleed over.

Mobile phone:
Take the phone to a store and have them run a diagnostic on the phone. May need to be reprogrammed.

Yes they may charge you for this.

I am required to use this service called Abtran to schedule something. They charge $2.48 a minute for the phone call using an 800 or 900 number. Welcome to Tech Spot

Do you have 802 B or 802 G wireless?
