Hi New guy here figured I would see if anyone can help out with the following issue I have an HP N Notebook with a brand new HD GB RPM Toshiba installed yesterday by Fry s Elect I am attempting to recover system information with HP s supplied Recovery Disks which should in theory load up my Win XP Home Office apps and other basic software that came with the factory computer However upon trying to install recover from CD of I am getting the following error message Error Notebook HELP!! Recovery N5000 - Please HP Issue occurred while creating Save to Disk partition X TOOLS S D gt Then I am back to that dos prompt and left scratching my head In order to get to this step I boot from my CDRom actually a DVD drive HP N5000 Notebook Recovery Issue - Please HELP!! with Disk inside I get options Turn off Computer Continue Advanced I believe I hit Continue it prompts me that I will lose all info on the HD which is fine since it is new and blank and then it begins the process which leads to the error message shortly thereafter For more sys info I have an AMD Athlon GHZ RAM and the DVD drive That is about all the info I can give at this time The system is not recognizing my HD as I have tried to even run a format on drive c and that fails as well Any assistance is greatly appreciated THANK YOU nbsp

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

Hi, I am fixing a notebook for someone who never backed it up nor activated the system restore capability. I can't get to the start menu.When it is turned on get the file is corrupt pci.sys. This notebook did not come with a recovery usb either. Can I download it without paying 43.00 and waiting 5-7 days?

i have a hitachi travelstar harddrive that got some system files erased off of it and i need to hook it up to another computer to get files off of it, but i have no idea exactly how to do that. its a 2.5 inch notebook drive, and the hitachi website says that it has an ata-6 interface (http://www.hitachigst.com/hdd/support/4k80/4k80.htm) i was thinking that maybe i could find a pci card that would allow me to hook it up, but i looked and didnt find anything. thanks in advance.

I have a bit of a problem. Somehow when doing backup, the backup went to the HP Recovery (D) instead of my DVD Drive and now the Recovery Drive is showing a RED LINE under it. How can I access the Recovery drive to remove the files that where added to it? I keep getting messages that the drive is locked and I need to get past that. If I loose the information on it, so be it but I would like to try to remove the excess files first. I posted the problem on the HP Forums which helped me some but then left me hanging.

hey guys and gals,

I have an HP Envy notebook. bought it 3 months ago. made recovery disk (actually it's on a flash drive).
had troubles with the notebook. HP support walked me through factory reset. twice.

never used the flash drive. used whatever was on the computer.
any thoughts on whether or not to keep the recovery stuff I put on the flash drive?
just wondering if its a waste of a perfectly good flash drive, seeing as I never used it when I reset.

I have an HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook PC and I just replaced the Hard Drive in it because the original went bad.I wasn't aware that I'd have to have a recovery cd to replace all of the features that came pre-Installed on the original hard drive.can someone please tell me where I can purchase a Recovery CD or how I can contact HP directly for it? Thank you (in advance) for any information that's provided.

Dear fellows, please i need help. Not sure if this is the corect thread, but does anyone know where I might find a recovery disk for a nec ready 120 lt? This is a donated notebook to our school and one of our computer wizards wiped out the os. Any help greatly appreciated.

I tried to install Windows 7 Home on my HP 15-f009ca laptop that came with Windows 8.1 installed. Now I know that was a mistake. Now the laptop thinks it's running Windows 7 (what it opens up to) but it won't run because there are no HP drivers to support it. When I try the recovery options nothing works. I can't acccess the product key as it's encrypted in the BIOS (I read that I could boot to a copy of Windows 8.1 on a USB - but it asked for a Product Key when it started to install). Can anyone help or have I ruined the laptop?Thank-you.Mike

Hi, Mike: If you want to restore W8.1 on your PC, your only option would be to order a set of recovery disks from HP. The product key in the BIOS will only work with W8.1 OEM installation media which is why the file you downloaded didn't work. There are drivers for W7 for your notebook from various sources. If you want to reinstall W7, here are the links to the drivers you need... 1. i have a Compaq mini notebook that's running xp and apparently according to hp when I first used the machine I would have been instructed to make a recovery resetting no disk notebook recovery disk not sure how as it doesn't have an optical drive anyhow it looks as though there is usually a partition in the hard drive for recovery but I have looked at every way possible to see if there is one and I have to say ive never found one to top it off hp no longer support this model so there is no recovery disk usb dongle available what I want to do is sell this on as while it only has xp on it its more than capable of running windows and is by no means a slow machine but in order to do that I want to properly remove any data off of it to safe guard myself hence the factory reset seemed like a good option but now I cant do that does anyone have a good way I can reset this thing short of re installing windows which while I have a resetting notebook no recovery disk disk and a legitimate licence I cant do as the licence is oem and being I want to sell it I don't think a dodgy copy of resetting notebook no recovery disk xp is going to cut it and its not worth the cost of installing a new os any advice will be welcome

I have an Asus laptop with windows 7 home premium 64 bit. It is starts to boot up but stays on the windows is loading screen. It boots sometimes in safe mode but it stucks during boot up at times to. I am trying to do a factory reset without the disc but pressing f8 or any of the f keys does not work for me. what can i do, is there a possible solution??

Just bought a Lenovo Notebook and made a Windows USB Recovery drive as was suggested. My question is:Should one be re-doing this procedure every so often as new Windows Updates come out?Or... is it better to use the original recovery drive from when the machine is brand new? Advice is much appreciated,T

When creating a recovery drive , what we have in mind is that if the harddrive physically went bad and you need to install back Windows and drivers to a new harddrive or just to fix the image is it gets corrupted and usual advance repair would no longer work. 
 
Microsoft would usually push automatic update every month and mostly likely be creating a restore point when doing this so check if system restore is also enabled. 
 
Depending on the user , having the original recovery media is enough as windows update have tendency to change from time to time modifying previous ones . Windows update certainly would take some time from an original image but technically it would be better so that only those needed by the machine and latest ones get sequentially pushed as some would require certain pre-requisites before others.
 
Keeping one original and another with major updates (ex. Windows 10 Anniversary Update / Service packs) would be a better if you have a lot of storage devices.
 
Hope this helps you on how best to proceed on your decision.

Hi all,

I was hoping to get some assistance with a problem I have. My ASUS u81's hard drive was recently corrupted, and as such I need to replace the drive. I am running Windows Vista Home Premium. The only problem is I don't know if I'll be able to find my recovery discs when the time comes to boot the machine (it's been years since I created them, having first booted the laptop almost four years ago). Is there a way to restore the machine and get it up and running without these discs, without having to buy new Vista install discs? Thanks in advance for the help.

Hello. I am hoping someone can help me before I go crazy. I have an HP 530 Notebook running Vista business that was running really slow. I backed up all of my information and ran the Recovery Disks that were made upon initial purchase. At 60% it fails and gives me a 1005 error saying

Info: The selected entry could not be loaded because the application is missing or corrupt.
The other option was to do a recovery from the hd but it fails also!
Please help, I am desperate!!!!

It appears to me that your only option would be to contact HP and have then send you a set of recovery disks that work. There's not much else you can do if the recovery disks and recovery partition are corrupted.

Hello Trying to make a USB recovery backup for my HP notebook about days old I get to the part where it says insert media so I put my USB in and then I get a little activity circle that just keeps spinning and spinning so I can never get to the next step I guess my real concern is that my D drive system Can't Make Notebook Recovery System BU--HP recovery partition was somehow corrupted with the malware I got infected with a few days ago if that's Can't Make System Recovery BU--HP Notebook even possible I noticed that the D received an update on the nd of this month Why would that partition even need an update if its purpose is to simply restore the system to its factory condition I'll mention quick I actually performed a successful recovery once from the start menu to clean computer and rid myself of that nasty malware So I know the D partition was non-corrupt at that time which suggests to me that it's still good The mystery is if D is indeed good why can't I back it up Maybe someone in here owns an HP or recognizes this as a W problem Appreciate any helpful feedback Neophyte

Hi everyone System Gateway NX X Notebook Intel MB amp CPU Phoenix TrustedCore Bios A normal boot in this laptops current state results in a stop just after POST when the OS should start The system isn t locked or frozen as the FN keys still change things but there s no display and nothing happens I would like to attempt a force flash recovery of the BIOS but having recovery Gateway BIOS notebook force scoured the net for weeks and dozens of email attempts to Gateway and Intel I have very little information as to performing this procedure AFAIK there is no recovery jumper on this motherboard I haven t read of any such jumper and have torn the laptop completely apart looking for one So if you have any information about recovery modes on Gateway Intel MB Phoenix BIOS I d be very grateful to hear it Details and Progress I ve read many posts that describe power-up key combinations that initiate a force flash recovery I ve attempted the combinations Gateway notebook BIOS force recovery and techniques with no result on this Gateway However I began trying random combinations and believe I ve found the recovery process but am unsure what the computer needs next I tried holding WIN R while powering up and got a whole different boot result This time I get a black screen no backlighting even the fan turns on for a few seconds then off the normal LEDs power button AC available etc come on I ve tried dozens of configurations of bootable CDs and flash drives as outlined by other BIOS and pc manf but haven t achieved anything on this Gateway I purchased a USB floppy drive which I d read that some systems will require The first thing I noticed is that during the normal failed boot the floppy sounds like a normal drive testing itself OTOH when using WIN R the drive makes an extra quot back and forth quot read-like sound but then goes silent So if I m on the right track I now need to know how to format the disk to get the computer what it needs If one of you knows that I m NOT on the right track please let me know Otherwise any help greatly appreciated Thanks PM nbsp

Hi guys,

I wanted to find out what options, if any, I had to recover files from a notebook that wont initialize explorer.exe (0xc0000006). I can get to the log in screen and select user but after it tries to load settings, all I can access is cmd and task manager. Im able to locate the files I want to copy through DOS but theres no 3.5 drive and the cd says not ready (im assuming due to lack of drivers loaded). Is there a way I can manually load the drivers needed for the cd drive to work? If not, is it possible to connect the laptop to my pc and access the hard drive from there? Please any help getting these files out would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! Thanks again everyone!

Update: Tried connecting via router... Router identifies notebook as connected but when I open my network connections on the PC its not listed. I tried mapping the drive but just get a 'path not found' error, at the same time the 0xc0000006 error pops up on the notebook.

Friend had to get a new hard drive installed, and Gateway doesn't include recovery disc with their notebooks when purchased, nor do they keep them on file after 3 years. Sucky customer support practice!

Anyway, I need to find a Vista recovery disc for Model W3501. Can anyone help? The sticker and i.d.# for the Vista Home Premium operating system is on the back of the computer. Will Microsoft help with this?

every time I run easeus data recovery wizard professional or 7-zip with a large file my notebook shut down; I hear the fan spin fast and the temperature growing.
The shut down come after some minutes.
I wonder what is the reason.

I have tried everything after "auto recovery" continues to come up...I have been able to run a diagostic and it returnswith failure "hard drive 1"any ideas? someone suggested I take the computer apart and see if something is loose. I have had it for 2 years only use e-mail and xcel....not much use...thanks!

My notebook internal fan isn't spinning at high speed even while gaming.It seems it is running at a constant speed all the time.When I bought it,the fan speed used to vary time to time.Also facing lag issues while gaming.I think I am facing the issue after upgrading to windows 10. My BIOS is up to date to the latest version.(F43)Also using HP coolsense 2.2.Although there is no coolsense for windows 10 in hp support & driver website for my product.I am using the coolsense software given for windows 8.1 Can it be a BIOS issue?What sould I do?Is there any method to diagnose the fan?

I have an Acer Aspire 6920

And it has been through a lot, I mean tons and tons of reformatting new OS every other week and I have messed with just about everything on the system...

Recently I have noticed that my fan will run at 100% or 75% all the time and will never fully slow down even when my CPU usage is pretty much 0.

I have tried many programs on Windows and Linux to try and control the speed manually, but none of them seem to be able to get any readings for the fans and therefore are useless. I have checked all the internal temperatures and they are fine though.

I have tried changing the fan speed in my BIOS but see absolutely no option to do anything like that at all (seems that my BIOS is extremely limited)

Does anyone have any ideas to help me out?

You proably just need to emable TV out in Windows. By defualt its disabled so as soon as Windows loads the TV single goes off. Go to Control Panel -> Display -> Settings and then click Advanced and find the settings for the TV out.

You can check the FAQ's here for troubleshooting ideas.

Try removing the battery and booting using only AC power. Or using batter only and see if the symptoms change. Try removing and reseating the RAM and removing/reseating the HDD (hard disk drive).

Aside from that, there isn't anything the average person can do.

As for your data, ensure you get the new laptop before you return the broken one. You can remove the HDD and connect it to another PC using a USB adapter and likely retrieve all of your files.

I get a message that Windows failed.

It instructs me to insert the windows installation disc, restart, and run "repair your computer".  However, I did not receive an installation disc, only a utilities disk (which does not boot)
What do I do now?

A:Inspiron M5030 recovery boot issue. Recovery disk does full restore and starts Win7, which operates fine. But on restart, windows will not boot.

Hi guys, here's the scenario. I have a customer who's power supply isn't charging anymore. She has a Gateway MP6954 Notebook. She bought a universal power supply, a targus, but it only charges when its held at a very uncomfortable angle. She and I believe her problem might be the jack. It's been kicked a few times. My question is this. Do i need a new Mobo to get that thing back up and running? What are my options? Thanks in advance.

Well, if you are handy with a soldering iron, your client can purchase the jack (usually found on Ebay for around $15) and you can charge him/her for the labor involved in soldering it back onto the board. Other than that, a new motherboard would be the only option and he/she would be better off purchasing a new laptop instead of purchasing a new motherboard and paying you to replace it.

It is worth mentioning that I have seen a few laptops where the power pin is separate from the board. In which case, all you would need to do is just replace the pin. You might want to look first, though

A client of mine has a Hewlett Packard ze2000 which is DOA.

the AC Adpater has been tested and the Laptop worked perfect till the battery died, i have done a factory power reset and this hasnt helped, if anyone has any ideas it would be a great help...

I have an Avaratec 6220 notebook computer and it's always worked fairly well up until recently. The LCD inverter went bad and so I had to wait a couple weeks to get one in. Finally, last night, it came and I was super excited about using my notebook again. However, it's always had overheating problems so I had bought a cooling mat for it and always used that. However, last night I plugged the cooling mat into the USB after I had booted up the computer. Everything was fine after I changed the LCD inverter, but when I plugged the cooling mat into the USB port the computer shut off and hasn't turned back on since. Anyone out there have any ideas on what could have went wrong and what needs to be fixed?

What a bummer though, I was excited it was finally fixed.

I've encountered a problem recently with my hP notebook laptop it will turn on you can hear it and the screen will load but it will be almost blank but with the mouse cursor which I can move with no problem Some times it will load with a screen saying preparing automatic repair then goes back to the grey screen I've tried resetting HP notebook issue internal it by holding the power button and everything but that didn't seem to work And I'm not exactly sure what model I have considering I can't even get into my laptop If anyone has any suggestions it would help so much This laptop isn't old either it's only about years old Also I've noticed that the keyboard is getting loose when I HP notebook internal issue type I can see it pop in and out so I feel like maybe something isn't connected I have so many pictures memories on this laptop and I have no way of transferring the files since I can't even get to them so I really need help thanks in HP notebook internal issue advance

This one has dogged me relentlessly HP Pavilion G notebook with Windows System works flawlessly on the software side the hardware however- The notebook recognizes the adapter about of the time If the battery is fully charged the adapter will usually be recognized but if the battery is low it seems not to Sometimes if I leave the adapter plugged in for an extended period of time like overnight and come back the power jack light will be on and working If I plug in the adapter and remove the battery it will switch over seamlessly but if I replace Notebook/battery issue the battery it won t recognize it Trying to boot without the battery works about of the time Generally I get blinks of the light which suggests a RAM issue according to HP s website But I ve replaced the RAM several times to no effect I ve swapped chargers to no effect I ve replaced the jack in the notebook to no effect I m considering a battery replacement but it charges fine and lasts about three hours so far WHEN the charger is recognized Am I missing something nbsp

Hey all My problem Notebook Issue Sound Odd is My new notebook stopped producing sounds unless I put it into sleep mode and wake it which is odd Laptop microphone works while line-out had the same problem I've not been really looking into the problem until yesterday since this notebook is not for entertainment yet This is what I have done to troubleshoot the problem Checked device manager and sound property settings Reinstall driver with newer driver from realtek Odd Notebook Sound Issue com Checked event viewer No sound related issue Kept getting WMI errors which I think are unrelated to the current issue Disabled all startup items restarted audio services etc Reinstalled OS several times with recovery disks and standalone vista installed sound driver first and still had no sound I originally thought this could be a hardware-related issue yet the sound works perfectly after awaking the system from the sleep I also remember that after my first system recovery sound was working as soon as windows was installed If you guys have any suggestion please fire at well System spec Asus F V-A Windows Vista Business

I have a gateway mx6958 notebook that is having an issue. It will not boot at all. last week it froze up with two strange lines on the screen and I proceeded to hold down the power button to restart. Now all it does is power on and the HDD light comes on for a couple seconds and then nothing. It will stayed powered on and get warm but nothing else. If I stick a cd in the drive it will start to read and like thr HD it will just stop. What could be the issue? Please help a poor student with no money.

In March I posted about a notebook computer that when powered on, it immediately shuts back off within about two seconds, before anything even comes up on the screen. A few people suggested it was probably overheating, which I figured to be unlikely so I never bothered reapplying thermal compound.

I was recently given the notebook to sell on eBay as a laptop in need of repair. I had some extra time on my hands so I decided to take it apart, removed the old thermal compound, and applied some new Arctic Silver to both the CPU and GPU. I put it back together, hit the power button, and the same power issue still persists.

Does anyone have any other ideas? ...or should I just go ahead and sell it as a broken notebook?
Btw, the notebook is an HP Pavilion dv7-3060us.
Also, the battery clearly does not charge while the notebook is plugged in.

BootMGR inconcenient It would always give the NTLDR is missing presse CTRL ALT DEL to restart So I thought that in order to bypass this problem I could try Notebook BootMGR is Missing issue. installing Vista on it from my desktop So as you can see in my thread my desktop ended up having problems as well So now I put the hard drive back in the notebook and tried to start to see if Vista was installed It Notebook BootMGR is Missing issue. didn't go the problem was almost the same instead of NTLDR now it's BootMGR I've searched a bit on google and most of the pages tell me to insert Vista DVD and try System Recovery But nothing happens when I press the system recovery key it will completely ignore my command And it also completely ignores to boot from a CD DVD even if I organize BIOS so that the Optical Drive is first in the Boot Order Any ideas

I am still having a shutdown issue with Windows and my HP Notebook Is there no formal fix forthcoming from HP or Windows for this Most of the troubleshooting threads about this are from late fall early and I am wondering if people are still having this issue I have tried all the non-invasive suggestions turning off Fast Start Up etc but they have not helped My shutdown problem started within the past few months even though I upgraded to Windows last fall I am wondering who I need to contact for help -- HP or Microsoft nbsp Basically the computer won't shut down It goes into sleep or hibernation mode or some such and never actually 10 Issue 15 Notebook Windows HP Shutdown turns off I have to force shut down by holding the power button to get it to turn off This only happens when the computer has Windows 10 Shutdown Issue HP 15 Notebook been on and running for a while or Windows 10 Shutdown Issue HP 15 Notebook if it isn't restarted for any reason Basically I turn it on use it for a few hours and when I go to shut down it doesn't nbsp Please help

Sadly, my HP ENVY m6-1350sf Notebook PC that I purchased in April 2014 with Best Buy needs the right hinge I believe needs replacing and now the casing on the screen is starting to pull apart. Obviously I'm way beyond the warranty but I am willing to pay HP to fix my poor laptop whom has travelled all around the world with me since it was brand new. I don't trust Geek Squad to fix it locally - they ruined my Lenovo in 2012 when the casing started coming apart by super gluing it back together. Please help ...

Hi, I've the laptop which is high end config. Say 750GB hard disk,Wind 8.1,8GB RAM etc. It was not coming up one fine day, when I use the power button to switch it on. 1.Removed the battery and try to use the direct power supply and went in vain.2. Inserted the battery and tried, After 5 continuous try, it was coming up.3. After my work, shut down the laptop.4.The very next day, same probelm occured when I switch it on.5. I tried the above options but this time no luck.  Let me know what would be the problem /solutions if you are facing something like this.

My Toshiba Satellite 1900-303 notebook shuts itself down after a few minutes of running and then won't start up again for another few minutes, and the fan is much quieter than usual. There is no fan setting in the bios menu, and I have set the cooling method in the Toshiba Power Management tool to maximum performance (at the opposite end of the scale to minimum noise.)

Can anyone suggest why this problem is occuring and how to solve it??

Lenovo B490 takes very very  long to connect it with wifi router. It do connect but after 4 to 5 hours. Will you please assist me to solve this issue. It is just recently new purchase. When my zbook is connected to the thunderbold dock with the cover closed, i press the powerbutton on the dock.The zbook starts and displays windows on my connected flatscreens...however my connected mouse and keyboard are not working. The only way is, to start the notebook first and then connect the thunderbold dock...then everything works fine.But as u can understand, i like to keep my notebook closed... I followed some treads about problems with de thunderbold dock...updated bios, firmware thunderbold and drivers. I did al this but still not working. When i start by pressing the powerbutton on the dock, i can clearly see my mouse and keyboard lighting-up. So at first there is power. But during the boot sequence of the zbook i can see the lights on my mouse turning off...

Hello ,

Ive installed a fresh copy of win 10 on this laptop , but the problem is that graphic driver installed by windows makes a delay when I run the laptop , after the win logo , it stuck for about 30 sec on a black screen , then enter the logon screen of the windows .. Ive tried to use the driver given here :

My G72B27Cl notebook has a problem to recharge the battery. At beginning, I thought it was the battery issue - too old to be recharged. After installed a new battery, the power run off fast from the battery and there was no sign to indicate the battery being recharged as usually. When the battery was detached and the computer totally dead even with the power unit on. Can this issue be fixed or I have to give up the comptor? Thanks for any suggestions.

Hi guys n gals!

I've been having some issues sorting out my wireless, and I think it's time to bring it from networking to hardware forums!

My network adapter is showing as "Unknown" in device manager instead of a network adapter, since uninstalling it and trying to install both the Gateway drivers, and also the Intel drivers, it is showing as having a yellow exclamation mark.

Although I can connect to the internet wirelessly, I really need to connect through Windows as Blueyonder have provided me with a rubbish connection manager. Problem being Windows is denying I have a network adapter to connect wirelessly!

Please help!!

Hi all just need a little help from you smarter people.

I have lots of devices on my wireless all work fine until this Hp notebook starts it seems to kick everything else off the network. So now called the death machine by all the family. Is this just a setting on the notebook that causes this? It happens on all networks that it joins to and stops as soon as the computer goes back into sleep.

Any help would be most appreciated

Likely you have an IP address conflict - - two machines with the same address.
This will cause problems with everything attached to that same router (wifi or wired).

Make sure ALL devices do not use manual settings but rather use automatic DHCP for both IP and DNS

I've gone to the drivers for my computer to download the newest version of BIOS for my computer.  When I download the files to a USB, the instruction manual indicated .exe file for install does not download. 
 
I'm stuck at this point in trying to find a way to give my computer the latest BIOS update.

I have an unusual problem with an hp 15-r015dx Notebook.  It's running a fresh install of Windows 10 64 bit.  I've run all the driver installation routines provided by HP Support.  Here's the issue: When WiFi is turned on, certain keys on the built in keyboard don't work.  Specifically, the spacebar, backspace, tab, and enter do not work.  Nothing happens when they are pressed. When WiFi is turned off, all the keys seem to function normaly. If a USB keyboard is plugged in then all the keys function properly from on the external keyboard, with the WiFi on or off. I've searched all over the internet for alternative WiFi and keyboard drivers, to no avail.  I've searched many forums for a similar issue/resolution to no avail.   Has anyone else experienced this problem and found a solution?  Thank you in advance for your help.

I have been having the SAME exact issue that you are having.  In fact I bought two of these machines and they both had the same exact issue with the touchpad.   I still have one of these machines but the other was returned. My device is also an HP Envy 15t-q300, also originally installed with Windows 8.1.  I installed Windows on this machine from a clean ISO install. Currently I have Synaptics driver 19.0.19.1 (Driver Date: 8/5/2015).  This provides full functionality to the touch pad and has been stable.  The annoying part however is that Windows Update likes to update this driver.  Once that happens the touchpad will typically work until the machines goes into it's first sleep cycle, and then upon next resume the touchpad shows as disabled and there is no way to enable it.  That is when I must perform the driver roll back and things work for a while again. I have downloaded the latest drvier from synptics and the same issue occur as they do with the driver from Windows Update.  I would really like to see a resolution to this issue as it's really quite irritating.

Hello, I'm having the same problem and it says  Stereo Mix (IDT High Definition Audio Codec, Currently Unavailable). I even called HP and their Tech support couldn't fix the issue! we did install the drivers and everything enev I performed a factory reseta! No success! The whol thing happened after I upgreated windows to win 10 from win 7! even after I put the laptop back to win 7 stil no audio input and out puts and codecs in device manager!
 
did you find the sulotion? If you did please let me know.

Hello This is my first post here as this is my first issue with this 7,... Pavillion issue! (windows HP dv6 notebook audio recording computer My microphones won't pick up any sound- this computer has two different ones an integrated one and an outer one and yet neither work Troubleshooting only picks up whether they're enabled or not and I've tried recording after enabling them and disabling them restarting etc I've checked with Beats Audio and they're turned on there as well and the drivers say they are up to date Yet nothing is working HP Pavillion dv6 notebook audio recording issue! Hello katrapezo.  I understand you're having some trouble recording audio. Have you tried recording in another application such as Sound Recorder?  I'd also like you to remove your audio drivers and allow Windows to reinstall them.  Here are the steps.Click Start, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.Right click on your sound card and select "Uninstall."Reboot your computer.Verify whether the problem persists.Also, what is your notebook's product number?  This document can show you where it is located.Have a wonderful day.

Hello all!

New to the forum so kindly excuse any noob-ish behaviour.

The issue is this:
Sony notebook (model PCG-9R6M), running Win XP. Recently formatted hard drive and re-installed Windows. Now I've been issued with a generic display driver and it's not performing up to the standard it was previously.

I need to find out how to identify my graphics driver (preferably without trying to open up my laptop)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi, The Clickpad settings of my touchpad have been resetting and it is very frustrating having to set it up after each reboot. I have the latest driver: 19.2.4.0 Rev.A http://support.hp.com/gb-en/drivers/selfservice/HP-ENVY-17-n000-Notebook-PC/7771351/model/8429318 I have tried the previous version but the problem still persists. And now for some reason, my right click area is not working and I have to rely on double tapping to right click. Disabling two finger click does not activate the one finger right click area either.  Any help would be really appreciated. I'm very annoyed and disappointed with this HP laptop I have attached my system info below: HP ENVY Notebook - 17-n062na  EDIT: Forgot to mention that I have tried to change the registry option on the Delete User Setting option from 1 to 0 but this resets to 1 again.

Hi Team, I have bought my laptop HP- Pavilion Notebook - 14-ab167us (ENERGY STAR) beofre 4 months.  I use it for my official purposes. The part of my work is connect my pc to conference room pcs to display in LCD screen. But from last 1 month, when I am connecting via HDMI1 port, the screen flicks in an interval. Its very weird for my work. I checked with other frinds laptop and their laptop was running fine. This concludes that there is no issue with the conference room PC. Could you please help me with the issue if any driver issue then please suggest me ? Otherwise please guide me how I can change my pc. My laptop was recently upgraded to Windows 10 and now I can't print anything. I get an error message that reads,"Windows cannot print due to the current printer setup."  I have uninstalled and reinstalled several times and even purchased a new printer. Still no printing. I'm assuming that some file somewhere has been corrupted, but not sure how to find it or fix it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The situation: Expired Win10 Indsider upgrade installation, no longer booting (winload.exe / 0x0000605)

Attempted solution: Reinstalling Win7 from DVD

Problem: Win10 ignores the boot sequence, always boots from HDD. Changed boot sequence to select DVD ROM and tried from the boot menu during system start. After loading the DVD a while, it always boots to Win10 repair screen. (No secure boot options found in BIOS, maybe hidden?)

Win10 is driving me nuts, as I can't reinstall Win7 anymore. Any ideas please?

Having shutdown problem with Lenovo T420 Notebook. Lenovo T420 default come with OEM Windows 7 Pro and we upgrade it to windows 7 Ent After upgrade, join domain, install bitlocker and perform windows update. Normally user sometime won't shutdown their
notebook on 2-3days because they using it on production environment. when try to shutdown windows 7 after 2-3days, it can shutdown windows 7 and LCD screen blank but the notebook power indicator light still on. I need to press the power button for few second
to power off the notebook. Any solution to solve? Called to Lenovo they request me to just get the patch from Microsoft, Lenovo support did not give me what is the patch i need to install. Any one having this experience? Already do the fresh installation of
the windows but the problem still remain on many unit of our T420 Notebook

Have you tried to update the BIOS yet?  If not, that would be a good place to start.  You can also try pulling the battery out while having the laptop plugged in and see if you get the same results.  If so please let us know.

This error pops out saying it couldn't find restore.log then this pops out - error 2 c:\minint\system32\restore.log missing - when trying to recovery my XP. Is there anyway to recover that file or something? I really need to recover because my computer is having lots of serious problems.
Please Help!

I have an external USB hard drive which I store my music on.

Today it hasn;t found the files on I have tried it on 2 PC's with the same problem.

I have clicked on properties on it says the right amount of memory is full but I can't access any files or folders.

Is there a way of retrieving my data?

Did you check the Hidden Files and Folder Under Folder Options.
If you feel you have lost it, try Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File Recovery - Home to recover deleted files.

Hello,I recently had my hard drive replaced and opted to install the system recovery software myself.  I ordered the USB from HP and attempted to install it yesterday morning.  When I go into my boot options, the USB is recognized.  When I attempt to boot using the USB, my system stops at a blue screen recovery manager page.  It has been stuck on this for nearly 18 hours without moving.  The USB memory stick provided by HP doesn't light up and I am concerned it is damaged.  Any suggestions?  Thank you!

I'm a computer tech trying to fix a user's issue, but I have come to a cross roads and cannot complete the fix. Basically I have an HP system where the hard drive is failing or will fail soon based on SMART test. The user wanted this fixed, so we got a new hard drive and I installed it. We also got the recovery dvd's from HP. When I installed the drive and booted into the recovery media it reports an error "Reducer Application Close [Info No HDD]". This is true for either the failed/failing drive in the system or the brand new hard drive. The self test on the new drive passes just fine. I just can't seem to figure out the solution to install this operating system and get passed the No HDD when the computer self test sees it but not the recovery media.

Any ideas/ suggestions for me?

did you try the original harddrive in another computer to see if it was bad? sounds more like bad cable, port or controller issue.

Hello guys i am trying to restore my pc after a major crash I have an hp pavilion media center desktop i originally got from circuit city Model m x My problem is i ended up formatting my hard disk that came with the computer due to frustration Later called hp and ordered my recovery disks now i have tried recovering the computer upteen times without complete success There are things that stay running like the blue hp do not turn off your pc during this operation Then it appeared to of finished recovery Hp issue so i thought it closed everything and then left a blank screen so i hit Hp recovery issue cntrl alt dlt and no programs were running so i said restart the pc and i had an end program message show up c hp bin commands exe pop up so i waited for like min to see if it was enough time then canceled it and rebooted Then i had an error bessage pop up on reboot Error xc d dwwin exe application error Stating it fails to initialize So i removed the supplemental cd and rebooted again Now just sitting in the blue screen mode Any help will be greately appreciated If you have any suggestions besides a hammer please let me know Thank you brad nbsp
