I have just changed the motherboard and processor on my second computer and when trying to boot up it starts but shuts down after a very short time. I have put in a 500watt atx power supply to replace the 300watt that was in the computer originally but it is still shutting down. Any ideas please. The motherboard is Asus A7S8X-MX and the Processor is AMD Sempron 2300+.
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I have a BIOSTAR mother board with 200MHZ AMD K6 in it now.
What I was wondering is if I could put an AMD K6 450MGZ in there?
Go to their web site with the make and model of the motherboard. All the docs are on their site. It's probably a Socket 7 board so there aren't too many upgrade options for that.
this is the first time i use this forum so plz help me
No, they use differant sockets, pentium 3 uses Slot1 and Socket370, pentium 4 uses Socket 423, 478, and 775.
ok question is: I have a Compaq Presario tower with a 266mhz Intel P-II processor and factor Board. I am looking to speed things up to at least 800mhz and was wondering what is the better processor and board combo for the money?
and what price range am I looking at? was hoping to keep it under 300 bucks but want a faster comp too so if you have any info, I would love the help.
A word of warning, if you plan on using the compaq and just change the motherboard and processor it may not fit. Compaq uses proprietary everything. I maybe wrong but keep it in mind. If it where me, I would buy a new case with power supply, get the motherboard and cpu, and use the rest of the components from the compaq.
You can buy a half decent case and power supply for less than a hundred.
You can check compaq's site and see if you can get any dimension's on your current case but more than likely it is a proprietary design for them. Even if the motherboard will physically fit inside the case the i/o's probably won't line up(meaning the usb/paralell port/mouse/keyboard/ etc connectors)

That is an AM3 socket CPU which means it should be compatible with the Phenom II series CPU's. I looked up the board and it should still support up to a 95 watt CPU so any Phenom II X4 CPU with a 95 watt TDP would work on it.
I just purchased a new biostar P4m80-m4 motherboard and an intel celeron D325 2.53g socket478 256k processor. Biostars's manual and website indicate that this board supports this processor. However when I booted up the machine I got an error message to this effect: warning cpu has been changed or cpu ratio failed. I shut down the machine and when I tried to reboot I got nothing. The power supply does not even start. I have verified that the power supply has not failed. Anyone have any ideas what is going on?
Clear the CMOS and try again.
just installed a new motherboard and processor and now the hard drives not booting it appears in the bios but its not loading up any ideas would be much appreciated.
The motherboard is a ASUS P5LD2
I have windows xp sp2 on 80gb harddisk , mother board mercury make, intel processor now this mercury mother borad what i have donot support ddr2 RAM, i had moved harddisk to intel motherboard box.
i am able to detect harddisk and windows apologies to start safe , last good menu and start normally and command prompt appears, i tried all options but fail to start windows xp.
MY IDEA IS AFTER LOGGING INTO WINDOWS , LOAD INTEL MOTHER BOARD DRIVERS.
Pl. find me solution to loginto windows and resume work.
you cant use the same xp on another motherboard.
I've just installed a new mother board for an IBM netvista model 8311 63U
On startup it post and beeps twice and shows a message on 0167 no processor BIOS update.
If i ignore ...the system boots up to winxp home fine.
Using existing hard drive and away we go.
Concerns, on start up the fans (CPU and Case) start.. but then stop after the beeps. (They don't seem to start.. looking for a power shut off or something)...Sometimes the fans seem to kick in on their own much later
any direction appreciated
Looks like I needed to do a Bios update.
Followed instructions, downloaded a new Bios update, created an update diskette, rebooted and followed displayed instructions.
Appears to have solve my problem.
Did it again... solved it myself ....posting for others who may have similar problems.

I was wondering if anyone has any tips on where to get parts to fix/replace a mother board for not too much money? I was informed yesterday that my mother board was shot on my year old gateway laptop. My husband is pretty good with computers and has built our desktops that we've had but he's currently deployed so I have to wait until he returns to fix or attempt to fix my laptop. I live in CT but am more than willing to order parts online. Thank you.
PLZ REPLY TO THIS ASAP
ok i finally decided to ditch my old 478 socket mother board and of course im gonna toss my cpu and my ram too..i dont know much about mother boards or their specs

New Guy here is in need of locating an older Latitude CPX Mother Board. I realize this is a tall order..because its old, but thought I would check. I was permenetly injured a few years ago (seriously) and am trying to get 3 kids into and through school. I have this Latitude..CPX yea its 6 years old, but I have nothing in it. IS it possible to locate a Mother Board. The Keyboard area of the mother board is out, i was told. I bought a new keyboard... only to find its likely the mother board. The minute I download the keyboard drivers... the keys work properly. Then, when I restart it.... boom... the keys are all screwed up. I hit the N key and a 6 appears??? Stuff like that. Anyway, any leads or suggestions, please let me know. I'm a real rookie at computers. Thanks,
It sounds like you need to remap your keyboard. Go the following Microsoft webpage:
and download the Server 2003 tools software for free (good for XP too). Run the "remapkey.exe" tool to reprogram your keyboard--provided you're running Windows XP, of course.
Hope this helps! Good luck!
I have a Compaq Presario CQ5210f with a M2N68-LA (Narra6) motherboard and I also have a old Compaq Presario SR1010NX with a MS-6577 (Giovani, Giovani2) mother board and it seems like the second mother board is better than the first. I would like to know which one is better because I have both computer towers but only use the CQ5210f. I am planning on putting in a new graphics card soon and I cant afford a whole new computer or motherboard right now so I have to pick between these to.

No contest the second one. The first is an ancient (in computer terms) Pentium 4/DDR/AGP based board, whereas the first is a much more recent AMD AM3/DDR3/PCI-E board that the Compaq bios allowing can up to probably the Phenom II x4 965, which will eat that old P4 for breakfast (would eat for lunch and dinner too).http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/160234-mother-board-better.html
I want to unplug everything from the existing mother board, remove it, and slide in a new mother board, reconnect everything, boot from the Win XP CD, do a repair and take off running without having to re-install all the application programs.
Will this work, or do I have do do a completely new install of XP and reinstall all the applications?
Hi my motherboard has died and i was wondering if it is possible to transfer my hdd to my new mb thank you

This is the firt time I have used a forum so I hope I am doing this correctly. I am still new with computers and I installed my first new motherboard today. Every thing went good but I hooked the on off switch wires incorrectly. I think I got it on two + posts. Needless to say I did let some smoke out of the switch box. I have since corrected this but now the computer will not boot up. Did I fry the new motherboard? Any help I can get would greatly be appriciated.

So I just bought a new mother board for my dell studio 1458 laptop and it was a direct replacement except the graphics card is different. I put everything back together, and went to boot. The screen stayed a dark black green flashed a couple times and it beeped at me a few time. When it did come up, the screen was really dark, and it came up as trying to fix windows from not booting. Also during this time, the CPU fan was screaming. What's going on here? Did I miss a step?
Sounds like something might not be seated all the way...worth double checking.http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/274456-help-new-mother-board.html

I have a pentium III system with ASUS CULS2 motherboard and it's running on xp pro. I'm wondering how much hard drive capacity it can keep up with. I tried it with up to 230 GB and it worked and in a while i'm going up to 320GB and wonder whether the mother board will support it. And also i'm wondering how to update the BIOS in case if I have to do that. Should I have to backup the old BIOS before it and where can find the new version? I'm really looking for your help.
Should work fine. You'll have to partition the drive.
Here i have an P-III mother board but in that i does not have on board speaker and also if try to connect external speaker there is no connector for connect that ex. speaker. So how to i check the RAM slots in that board is workin or not.
Kindly help me.

Have an E Machine PC it is not booting up, so, I open up the computer. I saw the CPU fan was not running and the processor was hot. I went out purchase used CPU Celeron, the computer is doing the same thing and not booting up. Do you think the CPU and the mother board is bad. The power supply is good, the fan in power supply is working. I also used a power supply tester.
Was your old CPU a Celeron as well? Same speed?
You may want use the Clear CMOS jumper to clear the BIOS settings or you can pull out the CMOS battery for a few minutes.
Try reseating the RAM and video card as well. Or try a known good piece of RAM and a good video card. You can disconnect all the drives and remove any unneccessary PCI cards like a modem.
I have a defective computer with a busted cpu (Athlon, 'forgot the speed). I like to replace it with Athlon XP2000 or higher. My mother board is ECS K7VZA rev. 1.0. Will the Athlon XP2000 or higher work on my mobo. Help please.

Your MoBo uses an amibios, you can enter setup by tapping either Del, F1 or F2 keys on POST or during boot logo.
i have a dell dem 8100 and it has a planar mobo it is a 5e692 i need to know if it is an atx or what it is i am going to buy a new case and need to know please help me out i am new to this stuff
It should be an ATX form factor. I have an 8300 and it's a standard ATX mobo. The only thing you need to be careful of is that there isn't anything proprietary like the front panel connections or power supply connections. Sometimes they use things that are not standard.
hello my main board is dead finish finito OK now i wont to bay new mother board can i bay any mother board or it has Board Mother to be a specific one or as same as Mother Board the old I rely do not know the maker of my mother board all i know is that it has Pentium in it When i go to bay new mother board what info do i hawe to bring with me about my computer or can i just bring my old mother board with me and say to the computer guy at the store give me the Mother Board same or closest to Can i use old Pentium and put in to new mother board or do i have to bay new chip Can use same memory sticks from my old mother board an use it in my new mother board which it might not be the same model PS What would be the price of the mother boards i realy do not need anything expensive nbsp
Well, all u need is a "p4" mobo, becuase all have the same procesor socket. U need 2 mind out whether u have ddr dual ddr or sdram. The easiest thing is, as u said 2 take the mobo 2 the comp guy, and ask him about momory.
which specification of a mother board will show that it has a 20 pin or 24 pin power socket
Converters are available for 20-to-24 and 24-to-20.
Hi, i need to know how much RAM my mother board can take, it has 2 slots.. but i was thinkking i would get 2 x 1 GB stickas of ram.. i was wondering if it would take that much..
Supports up to 2 GB DDR 400/333/266 Modules via (2) 184-pin DIMM slots.Click to expand...
I think thats your mobo there.. just double check by going to the link i gave..
Make sure you have matched pairs of ram to ensure max compatibility..
my processor is 2400+ but no new board it is showing it 1800+
Try clearing the cmos, your mobo manual will tell you how to do it.

How can i tell if my motherboard is PCI-e x16. I know its PCI-e but no idea what the x16 is or where i can find out. Its a Gigabyte GA-81915PMD and im looking to buy a geforce 8600 GT video card, will this be compatable?
All help apreciated.
bahh, no english sites with that motherboard for some reason...
Actually, can't find any information about that board at all, you sure you copied it right?
You can always open up the case, and see if there's physically a PCIe x16 slot there or not. Some pics of the PCIex16 and how to differentiate it and the AGPx8 slot here.
How can I find out what mother board I have?
You can download sisoftsandra from http://www.tweakfiles.com It will identify some motherboards or else the hard way. Look at it and find the manufacturers make and model or the fcc number. The fcc number is generally located right around the dimm slots.
or you can try ctbios, it will read the bios rom's and report what is there. http://www.windrivers.com/identity/mboard/biosid.htm
I am wanting to get a new mother board, to use with the AMD XP 1700 or greater processor. I am wanting to sue RDRam. However all I see is DDRAM boards. Is DD and RD Ram the same thing??? If a mother board supports DDRam will it also support RDRam???
Is there any reomendation for a mother board that will use RDRam and the AMD chip???
Currently, there are no motherboards or chipsets that support RDRAM with AMD processors. It could be a possiblity in the future.
RDRAM and DDR RAM are not at all the same thing. They are two different types of memory. None of the memory types are interchangeable. A particular memory slot can only accept one type of memory. Some motherboards support two different types of memory, but they have separate slots for each type, and you can only use memory sticks of one type. You cannot use both types at one time.
DX48BT2 is the board i'm looking at getting and wonder if i should go with ddr2 or ddr3 Ram how much of a difference is it and is there other types of ram that would to a good job ..wanting it for ultimate gaming
DDR3 comes with high clocks but also with price and high latency. So, high quality DDR2 would(COULD in some occasions) still outdo DDR3. To a point, latencies can determine the performance more than clocks.

hello every one .I am hopeing you might be able to help me .I have a 14 month old computer what decided to stop working what i mean is it just said my mouse and keybord could not be loaded and it seemed to be stuck on a black screen before my windows xp, also i noticed the clock at the bottom was losing time .a few days before hand any way i turned to a shop and they said i needed a new mother board as the old one had lost its drivers and no new ones could be loaded . They have fitted a new mother board but now it seems my instalation discs what the original computer supplier supplied do not work so i cannot reformat my hard drive . please leave an easy to under stand note here if you can help me as i am not a bright person when it comes to this thankyou
You can use your Windows op system to reformat your hard drive, but then you would need to reinstall the operating system and you stated you do not have the disk.
What exactly are you trying to do? Why do you feel you need to reformat the drive?
ok like the subject said i need one about in that range. im building a computer as u can tell right now i have (i should of gotten the mother board as one of the first things ) a 512mb sdram card a radeon 9000 pro 128 agp graphics card a 48x12x48 burner a 52x cd romdrive a 350 watt antec power supply and a antec case that 8.1" (W) x 20.6" (H) x 18.6" (D) and i plan on having a pentium 4 proccesser at 2.4 ghz and a 40 gig hard drive so if u could tell me where i could get a motherboard that would suit that computer please tell me where i can get it!!
My son s computer was running a little slow Then when he went to turn it on it would boot up but would let him board????? my Is It mother past the start up screen Kept asking for password I took it to my computer guy he checked said he couldn t find anything wrong He wiped it out and reinstalled He said he did this two times Is It my mother board????? Sure sounds fishy to me. If you can get it back maybe someone on the forum can assisst you to get it up and going.
One problem that has me perplexed . When a customers motherboard goes down , it means reformatting and re-installing XP. Of course all my customer info is gone. If you try to boot up With the new motherboard XP will not load. It launches a critical error and says the boot sector has a virus. I know that XP has this built in to prevent it from being installed on several different computers . This anti-piracy is based upon motherboards bios.
I will not build a computer with pirated software but when the legal owner of the PC and the software needs his computer fixed he should not have to lose all his info. This is when I miss 98 , ME. Under those most computers it was replace motherboard and after several reboots you were all ready to go with all your data intact.
has anybody come up with a work around for this ?
What kind of computer are we talking about? According to MS, if you get an OEM motherboard from the manufacturer, with SLP (System-Locked Preinstall) in the BIOS, that's all you need. They don't mention any re-install. I wanted to update my mother board drivers. There seems to be a few that need updating. My question is, that is it kinda tricky to do these updates? Can you mess things up if you don't do it correctly? My mother board is a Gigabyte GA-81945P-G. Is it REALLY necessary to update these drivers, even if my system is running good? Thanks for any ideas on this.
I would only use the CD that came with the motherboard to install the drivers. If everything is running ok I would not upgrade the drivers unnecessarily. This used to be a school of thought, but isn't the case anymore. If it works don't fix it. I never choose to randomly update my graphics or auto drivers any more. As long as they are working I leave them alone. Updating the drivers can sometimes result in negative results and cause you to roll back the driver to the previous one.
Hi: I found your form surfing the web. There is a lot of information here. I have a problem hope to gain from the experience many of you have. My daughter has a Dell C600 laptop. Her power cord melted into the socket in the computer. I took it to a repair guy and he cut the socket off and tried to get the rest out with a pair of neddle nose pliers. The result was not successful. He then informed me that if he had to take the machine apart, it would cost more than the computer is worth. My questions are: could the melting of the power cord while the computer was on have hurt the computer. I would hate to pay for such a replacement of that socket to have a dead computer. The second question is: how much should one pay for such a repair? Thanks in advance for your time and advice.
Not sure how that would have happened. But I'd say you have at least a fair chance that the computer is still ok, and only the power supply is screwed. But then again if the cord melted, something seriously wrong happened and your motherboard might be fried too.
Maybe ask the shop if they will sell you a powersupply for a dell system? They might have a few laying around. That way you can just swap the power supply out yourself (easy job) and see if the computer will turn on.
There is really nothing the shop can do to fix it if the motherboard fried during the meltdown. If there is critical data on the hard drive you can take it out, and get an adapter to have it work in your desktop PC, either internally or externally through USB 2.
I would like to take a HD from a PC that needs a new Mother board replaced and put it into a computer that works. Can I do that? I have the HD in a usb case for now so that I can save drivers to it but, where from the good PC are the drivers?
Last night I tried Board Mother Replacement to replace the mother board on my Dell Inspiron e laptop I bought the replacement part Mother Board Replacement from an Ebay store and it is still under warranty days After taking apart my entire laptop and putting the whole thing back together--a job that took my friend and I three hours--we plugged it in for the moment of truth The battery light came on so far so Mother Board Replacement good Then we hit the power button and nothing happened Well almost nothing The machine appeared to turn on All three lights on the the bottom of the LCD went on but that s it The fan didn t start the monitor didn t start The hard drive light was on but didn t appear to be reading at all i e no blinking or noise I m quite perplexed Everything appeared to go back together perfectly with the possible exception of the diskette drive cable clip which we weren t exactly sure whether to put back in over under or through the disk drive data cable We eventually put it through For instructions and pictures of the process check out link http support dell com support edocs systems pblan removing htm Everything else seemed to go back together seemlessly We were very careful with screws and put all the right sizes back into their correct places What could be causing this Have I received a defective part Are there any other explanations I suppose a possible explanation is that the processor and or video board are not quite connected correctly but they seemed to fit perfectly and snap down firmly when we put it back together Please help nbsp

just how good in a modern motherboard's quality as far as sound go. Im trying to deside if I should bother buying a sound card for my upcoming comp upgrade. would a $40 sound card be better then a $150 motherboards sound.

Onboard sound, as with onboard video, is inferior to a good card. If you don't want any bells or whistles, and don't care about high quality sound, then it should suffice. However, for as you say, $40, you can pick up a Audigy which will give you a worlds difference on sound from onboard.
This time there were alot of swear words for my computer. After first thinking the problem was a virus ( with my simple backgroud in computers ) We need to reevaluate. The other day I was going to sit down to remedy the problem as instructed. Guess what?...... the f_____g thing wouldn't even turn on. Only two things turned on the fan and one of the cd drives. Oh, and the monitor was in sleep. Is this my mother board? If so is it easy to replace? And how do I kwow what to replace MS-6191 with? Can I upgrade to a better board?

That info should be available from the mobo makers website. or from intels website once you find what chipset your mobo is based on.
dear friends, first of all happy new year to all.
i want to know the specifications and names of different types of slots in mother board, from the beginning to this date.
And what computer course are you doing, that requires this (plus the other similar question posted in the forum)?
Have you tried Google for this information, or do you just want people here to do the reseach for you?
The information you seek can easily be found on Google, for all such matters.
am using windows 7 x64.
i had BSOD problem and found out the problem is mother boards ram slots and one of my ram is also malfunctioning.
After replacing with a new different mother board i am getting BSOD in startup.
i thought windows 7 will automatically accept the new chipset. Is there are any ways to prevent from reinstalling windows again ?
Note : since the system is getting BSOD in the startup i couldn't get the dump file.

I`m having trouble upgrading my mobo.I have an older p4 1.40 ghz standard type cpu.The original mobo is a ecs model925 v1.0 with fsb @400mhz Iwant to upgrade my video but this board only handles 4x agp.I have tried a pc chips p4 fsb800 model m981g and an abit v17 pt880 and both did the same thing-they powered up but did nothing else,no video,no dos not even a code beeb. With the abit i even upgraded to a 400w power supply.Right now I`m not sure but I believe i have a 300w supply installed. I guess my question is can I get a mobo-cpu combo, and if I do do i have to reinstall my hdd to this board. It is a hitachi deskstar 7k80 80gig 7200rpm.The vid card i have-want to use is an xfx nvidia gforce 5200 fx agp-8x ,any suggestions are welcome.
i am putting a new motherboard and processor in my system will i have to reinstall win xp or will it pick up the hardware from the old board?
I have a Gateway machine and in the past few weeks the on board video card started acting Fryed? Board Mother up It would either give me the video driver stopped Mother Board Fryed? working or just flash a static screen and reboot I replaced the video card and the video problems stopped however my internet connection started going out for periods of about seconds at a time kept getting disconnected from an online game I replaced everything up to the NIC and had the ISP run a check on the line This left the NIC as the only probable problem When I went to replace the NIC I don t think I had the card all the way in due and rebooted the machine and it did not find the new hardware I then made sure the NIC was installed correctly and went to turn the machine back on and nothing it was dead The green light on the mother board is still on and I did replace the PSU and still have the same problem I m guessing with the other on board components going out it is the mother board but I just wanted another opinion before replacing it Thanks nbsp
When you turn your PC does it make any beeping sounds.
i have an asus p5a mother board with win 98se and 2 USB ports and I am trying to install a hp5150 printer. My printer is USB. I go to device manager and there is no USB drivers there. Can someone tell me how to install USB drivers for this mother board so I can get my printer working.
As you can see from my system spec I am currently running a old sock A mo/bo and cpu, my win-7 32bit O/S is installed and runs ok (a bit slow but stable)
However, I have just treated myself to some new parts which are, Asus M4A785TD-V EVO Socket AM3 mo/bo, AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2 GHz Socket AM3 CPU and Kingston 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 1333MHz HyperX Memory Kit CL7 1.7V Ram.
Once these new parts are installed and I connect my current hard drive with my current O/S installed will it boot into windows or will it not like all the hardware changes ?
It's possible that it will boot into Windows and install the necessary drivers and such. I would not trust it myself and would opt for a new installation instead.http://www.sevenforums.com/general-discussion/54684-upgrading-mother-board-cpu-ram.html

Welcome to TechSpot
This won't work, the new nVidia mobo uses completely different drivers from the previous Via one. These Via-drivers are currently part of XP, and they dont work with your new mobo.
You have 2 options:
1) Buy another harddisk, make it the Master and change the old disk to Slave. Install XP from scratch with all new mobo-drivers, install other programs. Copy personal data from old HD to new HD. Format old HD and use as storage. Works guaranteed and is the cleanest solution.
2) Put the old mobo back in, make backups of personal data, then go into Device Manager, and uninstall all motherboard-specific drivers and hardware.
Shut down XP. Swap mobos again. Boot on the new mobo. XP will install default mobo-drivers. Then install the CD that came with the new mobo.
This MIGHT work, but not necessarily. NOT advisable as there will be old drivers and mess floating around.
I have a 701 mhz processor amd. Can I upgrade my processor to something faster in a az11 mother board?
Motherboard specs: http://www.fic.com.tw/product/motherboard/1stmainboard_detail.aspx?type=legacy&model_id=2
Compatibility test: http://www.fic.com.tw/support/motherboard/document.aspx?model_id=2
Looks like a 1.1Ghz Athlon on the 100Mhz FSb (200Mhz effective bus) It wouldn't be much of an upgrade.
st question I have an older Dell that has worked well as a second pc in my garage A few years ago I upgraded the p cpu with a p via power leap and their adapter All has been well Has G rdram Win XP home I believe I cooked the mother board a couple of weeks ago by having it contained in a unvented cabinet I found ordered and installed the same mother board Installation went well All was identical Upon boot into the Bios I see it only recognizes the cpu as a mother board swap I reset the Bios and it still only recognized it as a p Could this be because of an out dated bios nd question Upon normal boot up the windows logo would come up but all would freeze mother board swap and go black screen Is it possible I mother board swap will have to reformat and reload the OS because of the duplicate mother board replacement Thanks for your help guys nbsp
You may need to update the BIOS, however before you update you should check the BIOS string to determine if the board you bought is a standard Intel board, or an Intel proprietary Dell board.
If you flash with an incorrect BIOS you've got big problems.
I have Win7 Home Premium. I need to replace the motherboard.
Will I have to go thru Microsoft to re-register my OS? I initially used the Win7 32 bit upgrade version. Thanks for any advise.

Since it is a retail upgrade version of home premium then the below tut will be needed to ensure successful activation
Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version
If your windows still does not activate upon re-installation the follow this tut

I am getting ready to swap a motherboard into an old case, someone told me once that sometimes the motherboard doesn't fit into the case correctly, is this true? Before I do anything I need to know this so it doesn't haunt me later on.
give the information and specs on the board and the case. what you said was pretty useless.
Hi im new here, im about to give up on my computer. It always freezes and its very unstable, opening software like photoshop would be just useless.
My friend in a local computer store told me its not my XP thats defective but my mother board. I have to change it to an ASUS instead of the cheaper brand I got to ensure stability. Any advice on this?
What browser are you using? IE or firefox?http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/9332/xp-changing-my-mother-board/
it mite seem like a stupied question but i just found this old mother board from one of my old comps and i cant find out what kind it is ther all these numbers like it says ISN: (then a really long number) then S/N (then a reallly long number) then B/N (with a short number) would any of those help me find out what it is?
Check the writing printed on the motherboard circuit areas, usually there is a model name somewhere. (I just struck a PC Chips motherboard that didn't though, had to download Everest Home but that only helps with an installed motherboard).
Otherwise, google the reallly long numbers and see what you get.
i there i did have a asus a8n-e which has gone back to asus for rma

So, I replaced the motherboard on my desktop computer. Everything worked fine. The computer is a Acer PC (am3641-ed7200a). I replaced the motherboard with this motherboard http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=5019768&CatId=4658
The thing is that the computer used to be really really silent, but now the fans are supper loud, any idea why that might be?
So, my girlfriend fried her old processer and just recieved a new one. We got everything installed and working into her case, everything works, except when we try too boot windows (XP pro), we get this error.
"A problem has been detected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.
If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow whese steps:
Check for viruses on your computer. Remove and newly installed hard drives or hard drive controllers. Check your hard drive to make sure it is properly configured and terminated. Run CHKDSK /F to check for hard drive corruption, and than restart your computer.

where can i find a diagram for an fic k8mc51glf mother board i tried the fic web site but could not find one
Hello and welcome to Techspot.
I can`t find that model on the fic website either. Are you sure you`ve got the correct model number?
Is the mobo currently in use? If it is, the free Everest or SIW programmes may be able to identify it.
I would like to know if there is any motheboards that can support:
4 ATI Radeon HD5870 in Crossfire
Atleast 12gb Ram high speed (preferably up to 128gb of ram support)
Core i7-975 Extreme Edition
My mother board is beeping (not always continously) when i re-boot, hold down the reset button, and during normal use.
Put a new fan etc in as i thought that it may be a heat problem, but it hasnt solved the situation.
Can anyone help please.
Describe the beeps... as in low/high tone short/long etc...
