I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Can I install windows7 to my HP/Compaq CQ40-323AX?
depends on the hardware spec of your system.
Hi I want to instal one SSD disk on my computer. Do anyone now if it is Sata 3 port on this computer ? If it isn`t can I install Sata 3 port or do I have to chang motheboard ! Regards KOB32
Hi: Run this free hardware analyzer that I have zipped up and attached below. Run the file, close the summary window and on the left side of the window, click to expand the Drives section. Then click to expand the sata/atapi drives section. Click on your hard drive name listed there. The first line will be the Drive Controller spec. It will report the hard drive type running at a certain speed. For example Serial ATA 6 Gb/s @ 6 Gb/s. If your notebook only has a SATA II port, it might report Serial ATA 6 Gb/s @ 3 Gb/s, or Serial ATA 3 Gb/s @ 3 Gb/s.

[/B]I have had the notebook for five years; yesterday the following message:
NTLDR is missing
Press ctrl + alt + del to restart
When the user does the instruction, the boot starts and the message repeats.
I really do not want to do a reinstall of the operating system; if someone has away to reinstall just the boot tracks.
 Is this a virues?
Is this the work of a hacker?
Has there been an MS-XP failure?

I am considering buying this laptop at "Office Depot" today. In your expert opinion, guys, is this a good laptop for basic needs? I just need it for a small business situation. I have Office 2003 software to load on it. A techy friend of mine said I may want more speed on the processor but for $949 w/ rebates I think it's a lot of bang for the buck! Please click on the site below and it should take you to their website with specs on it. Thanks in advance for your input!
I have tried twice to upgrade my HP Pavillion DV4 notebook to a Samsung 840 Solid State Drive and the two times it only shows a "J" while trying to boot. The first time I used the Migrate OS to SSD option in Minitool Partition Wizard. The second time I used the copy disk option, with the same result. Has any1 been successful in upgrading to a SSD? if so, which application was used? TIA. HP Support Assistant reports that there is a software update available to download. Click yellow triangle, get to products, shows a software download available, but does not specify what the download is.
Click on Message / update. Four segment square icon starts rotating through the segments. Runs and runs and runs, now more than 2 hours. Nothing downloads.
This is the third time today I've tried to download the supposed software update. Same result each time. Nothing downloads.
Same result each time.

Hello. I have a HP Pavillion 15 Notebook PC product number: J1X37EA#AB9 with Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-4510U CPU @ 2.00GHz 2.60GHz, RAM: 12,0 GB, Windows 10 64-bits and in what comes to graphics i have Intel(R) HD Graphics 4400 and a NVidia GeForce 840M. I believe my intel graphic card is integrated in the board but the Nvidia one can be upgraded. Am I wrong or can I really upgrade my graphics card?
Hi, Unfortunately the Nvidia chip is integrated and not an upgradeable component - this is the case for most consumer class notebooks. Regards, DP-Khttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Can-I-upgrade-my-graphic-card-in-my-HP-Pavillion-15-Notebook/td-p/5843097
Hello,I was recently given a pavillion dv9821ea laptop which was in bad shape after being infected with a virus. I eventually had to replace the hard drive and at the same time I upgraded the operating system to windows 7 PRO 64bit. I was unable to save nothing from the origonal hard drive, no drivers, HP software etc and since I installed Windows 7, the laptop seems to have several problems including not downloading Windows updates. I connect it to the HP assistant, but this recognises the laptop and only gives me the choice of Windows Vista as the operating system for which to support drivers etc. I wonder if you could help me by letting me know if there is anywhere I can download Windows 7 pro 64bit drivers for this laptop? my wife and I are both disabled and it would make a great difference to me if I could have full use of this laptop. Regards. Gerald
Hi, Gerald: HP did not support that model for W7, and you should be able to use the Vista drivers from the dv9821ea support page except the BIOS and firmware files. Additionally, you can read this helpful dv9000 W7 upgrade guide for some tips on getting W7 to work just fine on that model. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Windows-7-Upgrade-Guide-for-dv60...http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Drivers-for-Pavillion-dv9821ea-entertainment-notebook/td-p/5594190

I will leave it for a week and then try and turn it on and it will work fine for a few days and then go back to having a black screen. I have changed the ram and that didnt solve anything, so i am looking for some advice. can anyone help. its is weird that it works sometimes and then goes out again. Model # pavillion g7-1167dx

Hello katrapezo. I understand you're having some trouble recording audio. Have you tried recording in another application such as Sound Recorder? I'd also like you to remove your audio drivers and allow Windows to reinstall them. Here are the steps.Click Start, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.Expand the "Sound, video, and game controllers" section.Right click on your sound card and select "Uninstall."Reboot your computer.Verify whether the problem persists. Also, what is your notebook's product number? This document can show you where it is located.Have a wonderful day.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Audio/HP-Pavillion-dv6-notebook-audio-recording-issue-windows-7/td-p/2737617

Sounds like it might be time for a reinstall to refresh the OS and overcome any lingering infection. Follow these same steps for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7 particularly when it comes to drivers and Updates.
Otherwise work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 including the hardware tests.
Hello, I'm having the same problem and it says Stereo Mix (IDT High Definition Audio Codec, Currently Unavailable). I even called HP and their Tech support couldn't fix the issue! we did install the drivers and everything enev I performed a factory reseta! No success! The whol thing happened after I upgreated windows to win 10 from win 7! even after I put the laptop back to win 7 stil no audio input and out puts and codecs in device manager!

hp pavillion laptop 15-p067ca model, purchased year ago, came with windows 8.1, was not updated to windows 10. seems to have a bug: on start up it welcomes me as a user "vladimir" asks for password and then hangs up forever with the white screen and unresponsive. Password I'm sure is right, because if I type different password, machine comes back with "Incorrect password" message. What do you think is a problem and how to go back to factory settings? I have not made a recovery disc. Any comp supposedly have a recovery partition, and Recovery Manager but how can I do anything if Window does not come up?

Extremely frustrated I've looked and tried to find a solution to no avail When the notebook boots up it gets to the login screen I wouldn't be able to do anything at that point but I can log in because I have a fingerprint scanner from there I'm dead in the water The only way to shut down is to hold down the power button While the computer is in bootup I have touchpad keyboard function I can escape to boot options BIOS repair etc and have normal functionality while there but not in safe mode I have ran SFC with commands several times chkdsk with commands several times nothing changes SFC says it found problems but was not able to fix all of them and keyboard Notebook and on Pavillion HP touchpad 3225dx dv6 Frozen the last chkdsk found nothing wrong Here are the events leading up to had disk errors and bad sectors in old hard drive could not repair cloned old hard drive to new hard drive there were errors but the new hard drive booted and worked for the most part correctly in the process of trying to fix missing setup files for applications and other miscellaneous small issues I ran troubleshooting updates chkdsk sfc etc removed various applications and added a few nothing worked I installed Revo uninstaller to remove Kaspersky Internet Security as it is THE MOST stubborn application to remove I've ever experienced The reason I mention that is because I went through my computer trying to find the leftover files even after Revo because Kaspersky was still running after re-installing it and uninstalling it again There were some files in System that had kaspersky attached to it's description I stopped them from running and deleted them They were close to the kb files and after researching which files Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook to remove I remember in the end of the post it said it wouldn't delete Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook a certain file beacause you wouldn't have keyboard functionality I made sure I didn't but I can't help Frozen touchpad and keyboard on HP Pavillion dv6 3225dx Notebook to think now that out of the files I deleted some of them kernel I may have deleted the mouse and keyboard files in error I tried a System Restore of the most recent point prior to the issue and it did not work I think now that I should have tried it again at an earlier point but didn't and I did that from the repair module obviously since I couldn't do it anywhere else I have tried since to do another but the restore points have disappeared The last time I had a working touchpad keyboard in Windows I ran sfc scannow offbootdir d offwindir d windows at boot in the command prompt I got the same message that it found errors but did not fix them all Then I ran chkdsk f r from boot at the command prompt When I returned to my computer after a couple hours I rebooted and no longer had a touchpad or keyboard I am up in arms and extremely frustratd as I feel I have tried absolutely everything to get them to work again I hope that the only option I have left is to format and clean install I do not have a full back up and can't get one fully executed at this point Please help Thanks in advance to any suggestion and assistance that you may be able to provide it's much appreciated The following link is to the support page of my Notebook http h www hp com ewfrf wc product product amp lc en amp cc us amp dlc en amp lang en amp tmp track link
If you have (and should have) a USB keyboard and mouse connect them and see if they will work.
Since your file system was already corrupted you cloned the bad files to the new drive.
If the USB devices work you should do a Repair Install.
If that doesn't work do this: Using System Recovery, Factory Reset and Minimized Image Recovery Options HP Pavilion dv6-3225dx Entertainment Notebook PC | HP? Support
From this tut:
Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7
On newer models HP Recovery may offer a Minimized OS Recovery option when booting from F11, which retains only the OS, Recovery Manager, HP Support Asst, and HP Wireless LAN. This is as close to a clean reinstall as you can get without doing one yourself.
● If you clean reinstall only to C and leave all other partitions intact, F11 Recovery key should still work later if you need it.
● You can also Extract HP 3rd Party Software from RecovCD.
● Problems with volume control lighting and HP Quick Launch buttons have been dealt with here where you can also get further support.

Several weeks ago I bought the new HP Pavillion dv9574ea notebook and the HEADPHONE SOCKETS do not work - there are two. Only the speakers work. Even when I put a working set of headphones which are the right size, I cannot hear anything through the hearphones. The normal loud speakers however keep working, although they should switch off when the headphones are plugged in.
Please see the screenshot of the drivers active (in system 32 folder) and other details about the headphone socket.
Thank you for any help.

New here and so I hope that I am posting in the correct place My new notebook an M -MX was in the warranty depot as we thought it had a dvd burning problem however that was not the case it was the media Anyway before it was sent into the toshiba warranty depot the level tech phone support said to get the computer to be like it was when I unboxed it days earlier new and old with now notebook ghost problems?? notebook Ghosted this was last month And so to my frustration all of my programs were removed however before doing this the software techie at the office Ghosted it to my Western Digital Storage Unit and then sent it off to the Warranty Depot While it was in the shop I used my yr old toshiba satellite which I am now typing on at this moment I was finally able to get the software tech from the office to reGhost my new toshiba new notebook Ghosted with old notebook ghost and now problems?? M on this past Saturday and left it with him for a couple of hrs and then returned to pick it up as there was not much in the way of programs on it and so it wouldn t take long to Ghost the Images back Well in my Western Digital Storage unit are Ghosts of this year old satellite that I am presently using After the techie new notebook Ghosted with old notebook ghost and now problems?? got my Restore Disk installed and tried to reGhost the image onto the New M it crashed He was using the wrong Ghost he new notebook Ghosted with old notebook ghost and now problems?? was using the one that was from this unit I was not happy especially after he claimed that he now had it Ghosted with the proper Image and I tried it out and it was very sloooooow to Boot He said it was my Norton I keep a log and had brought it with me and showed him how long the Boots took before it was sent off to the Warranty Depot with all the few programs that I had installed on it He had been doing other work and coming back to my unit while it was Ghosting and when it was finished I also asked him to plug in my gig SanDisk flashdrive and he went into My Computer and clicked on the drive and it simply hung there with the Timer showing Needless to say I am not happy and am wondering if the fact that he Ghosted the wrong image from my year old Satellite on it could have done any damage He said he would call me this AM and hasn t so I left a message with him I used my USB SanDisk before and there were no problems now he is trying to tell me that this drive has a peculiar install program that can cause problems I googled for it and found nothing I talked to the computer retailer a small outlet that I frequent and they indicated that it is simply plug and play Why the tech mentioned a problematic install program is beyond me as all i was trying to do was read the contents Is there a possibility that this notebook has been damaged by trying to Ghost this satellite to it He did do a full disc system restore the second time he did the Ghost Imaging however the computer is acting SlOOOOOOOOw to boot the SanDisk simply hangs there with the timer showing I would appreciate any comments as I am frustrated as to what is going on here I mean I would assume a techie would label the Ghost image with a name so that he knew which computer it belongs to Thankyou for your time nbsp
Something you might want to try (it's a pita) is a repair of windows - this may fix some of the slowness issues you're seeing. The install program he's talking about is probably the U3 component of many larger USB pen drives. I think it's on most of Sandisk's newer large drives. A repair of windows might also take care of this. I seriously doubt that putting the wrong image on the machine and then putting another image on could do any damage to the machine itself - the folks here at my job do it all the time.
Anyone here have any HP notebook or let alone any notebook at all that when you go to put it to sleep if hangs for a while then goes to sleep but comes back out? any known fixes?
I have an HP Notebook!
Are you running Vista on it? I have never had it come back out of sleep..but I did have it hang when going into sleep..
I now have Windows 7 on it and I really want to say that it was Vista that was making it hang when I would put it to sleep..Because when I put it to sleep under Windows 7 it does it in about 4 seconds, and when I resume it comes on in 4 seconds.. VERY FAST..
Have you always had this issue when first you got your PC?
The first thing I would try is to check Device Manger and check you network adapters..to make make sure they are not set to "wake the computer"To do that click on the Start button, and search for Device Manger
Look for you network adapters, Under the network adapters and right-click on the adapter.(If you have more than one adapter repeat steps 2 and 3)
Select Properties and find the tab Power Management and make sure that the check-box for "Allow device to wake Computer" is UNCHECKED
Hope this Helps..and Happy Holidays..
My laptop is a hp pavillion dv For the past months when I close the lid the system will not come out of the sleep mode This with 2000 problems dv pavillion hp is happening problems with hp pavillion dv 2000 of problems with hp pavillion dv 2000 the time but there are occasions it does not Also it takes several times of starting up and shutting down to get it to boot which always results in an abnormal shut down screen appearing when the screen finally shows signs of life Other wierd things I have noticed include if I shut it down and plug it in to charge it will power on but not actually start up most of the time it has started with the lid closed thought that was a little freaky to hear windows start up with the lid closed and noone near it Shortly after the booting problems started my wireless network adapter stopped working At this point it will occasionally like once a week out of nowhere start working for no more than a day I realize more information and specs may be needed to receive accurate assistance like bios or temp readings I just have no clue how to get or where to find em nbsphttps://forums.techguy.org/threads/problems-with-hp-pavillion-dv-2000.872620/
I had to install a new hard drive on HP pavillion dv2500 notebook. The new hard drive is a WD Scorpio Blue-SATA-320GB. Put in new hard drive and went to install windows xp by cd-rom. It says windows does not recognize a hard drive. the boot options were checked and the cd-rom boot is first. Also when the computer boots up it says the NTLRD is missing press ctrl+alt+del to restart. Can anyone help?
Hello & Welcome to Tech Guy Forum.
The NTLDR missing message can be a generic term, such as "boot disk not found". Depends upon the computer manufacturer's preferences.
What troubleshooting steps have you performed?
What happens if you put the old HDD back into the computer?
Have you run a HDD diag?
This one? Data Lifeguard?
If your HDD came with a diag disk, run it. If not, download the Lifeguard diag for CD, create a bootable disk & run it.
Do you have a UBCD, www.ucb4win.com ?
Do you have an XP Operating System CD?
If provided by HP, did you create a system recovery CD or set of disks?
Do you know how to make a bootable CD from an. ".iso" file?
The more information you provide, the more likely will success be achieved.

I have Windows Vista on an HP Pavillion a6228x PC. I have three pop up messages and Im not sure what to do about them. First one is HP My Display has stopped working. The second is a C:\Program1\my~1\bar\1bin\m3plugin\.dll, The specified module could not be found. The third is Solution Center will not load. Thanks for any help.
I have a HP Pavillion Laptop with Vista OS. Until recently no problems but one day the computer would not boot. Then I unplugged for a few minutes (5 minutes) and it rebooted fine. I ran the norton 360 ver 2.0 and found a virus which was quarintined. The computer continues to be intermitint. It attempts to access the hard drive, and the lights flash but it never shows on the display. Shut it off for 10-15 minutes and Vista boots. I can access the internet, any program I desire, but if it goes to sleep or turned off, its back to the same problem. "Any Ideas" Registry? F2 Boot program change? HELP. sprintercoach11
Physical problem, probably PSU. Is this problem caused while being plugged in to AC adapter, on battery power, or both?http://www.techsupportforum.com/forums/f217/hp-pavillion-booting-problems-328428.html
this is my friend's laptop. he says this problem came out of nowhere (i.e., he didn't drop it, expose it to extreme heat or
cold, etc.). basically, numerous red pixels appear where the display should otherwise be black. for example, when booting
the computer, the black background behind the "windows xp" logo is almost completely red.
obviously, i can't upload a picture to illustate the problem, as it is only evident on the pavillion's monitor. i've tried
adjusting the color and gamma settings and re-installing the display drivers with no luck. i fear these may all be dead
pixels, but i'd like to know for sure before giving him the verdict.
his computer is running windows xp home.
It does indeed sound like either a fault in the panel, or given the sudden large number of "stuck" red pixels a fault in the driver electronics.
Hi all, Can somebody please aid some help my way at all?
I am running Windows 8.1 which i purchased and downloaded over wifi so all legit.
Since installing it i have had problems when starting my laptop or when my laptop goes to sleep.
When i turn on my Pavillion dv6 the Blue window shows but no circular dots and after about 10 secs my screen goes black and stays that way. I have waited nearly 2 hours just incase it was updating in the past but it does this everytime. If i restart i.e force close the computer as that's all i can do as there isn't any response from said comp and reboot it does exactly the same but then starts after about 1 minute. In this time the mouse is switching on and off. Also crashes if the comp goes to sleep too.
Any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance folks.
So how did you do the installation? Did you attempt a clean install or just upgrade your existing OS to 8.1? If a clean install, did you keep the existing partition structure or did you wipe the hard drive clean? If you just upgraded, did you chaeck for the latest drivers from the manufacturer's website? Also, what was your previous OS? Win 7 or 8? The reason I mentioned 7 is because I assume you now have a legitimate key for 8.1; whereas, many of us, that did the upgrade, do not have that 8.1 key.
I'm trying to fix a friends laptop its a 32bit Vista HP Pavillion DV9500 laptop, and the built in webcam doesnt seem to be working.
I've been searching the internet for ages and can't to seem much help, apart from the following:
Testing in QuickPlay, which I have and dont get an option to view webcam.
Update drivers, cant seem to find any drivers, although can't seem to find any hardware or software associated with the webcam on the laptop. (this might be the problem)
Set up in Windows Live Messenger
Set up in Yahoo
Set up in Skype
None of the above work. Has anyone else had similar problems with this laptop, or does anyone know where I can get some software I can use to get it working?

The driver should be the latest one for the adapter from HP's web site. What adapter (brand and model) is it?
What do you mean the WLAN disappears? Do you mean the wireless adapter disappears from Device Manager? I don't understand all the reinstalls.
By the way, I have found HP's email support to be pretty good.
I have an HP Pavillion DV8000 Lap Top using Windows XP Pro Service pack 3. The sound car or driver is Conexant AMC Audio.
While playing some music last night from Pandora Internet Radio, the sound sounded like a streaming issue. Now all of my sounds including notifications ie: mail receipt, errors etc...
I went back to HP and downloaded/installed the driver for this machine but it didn't help.
Does anyone have an ideas?
All of your sounds what? If I'm reading that right, you may be missing a word in there somewhere?
Are you receiving no sound at all? Are they muffled?
What do you mean by a streaming issue? Did it start skipping in the middle of songs, or would it stop for a bit and restart?
Dear All,i was asked to open up a thread here to,and the IT guy will soon post all logs as intsructed.Thread link.

A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the Watch Topic Button, select Immediate Notification, and click on Proceed. I have an HP Pavillion G72 which had a cracked screen and so I replaced the screen like I did with my other laptops. The original LED screen has a code of LP173WD1, it was replaced by a LTN173KT01-DO1. The retailer has shown that these replacements are compatible with each other and my friend had no problems with his. After I replaced mine, I experienced green lines, pink bars and somehow a double screen on my Pavillion. I've tried updating my drivers and BIOS as well. Could anyone direct me to further troubleshooting steps before I decide to return the new screen?
Doesn't look like a driver issue.......is it the same in Safe Mode?
Also try a external monitor just to be sure.
Hi. I have a HP Pavillion G7 1083nr with a problem with it's hard drive. Before it was replaced I recived a error message ' No Bootable Device - Insert boot disc and press any key. After I replaced the hard drive as recommeded I recived this error message 'The System Recovery Media Does Not Support This Computer. You are not able to restore this computer with this Media' How do I fix this ? , Can I fix this ? I purshred the recovery discs per its exact specs. HELP!! The OS was Windows 7 originally, upgraded to Windows 10.
Hi, If the machine has been previously upgraded to 10, a hardware profile ( Digital Entitlement ) will have been recorded by the activation servers. As long as the previous installation of Windows 10 had activated Ok after the upgrade from Windows 7, you can just create your own installation media and perform a clean installation of Windows 10 as detailed in the guide on the following link. Note: At the activation screen, select 'I don't have a Product key' - Windows will activate automatically once the installation has completed. http://www.howtogeek.com/224342/how-to-clean-install-windows-10/ Regards, DP-Khttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Operating-Systems-and-Recovery/G7-Pavillion-1083nr-recovery-problems/td-p/5782702
I have a four-year-old HP Pavillion laptop. The whole desktop moves all over the screen when I move the cursor, up, down, left and right. Any ideas?
Help! I've got a problem with my laptop keyboard. The touchpad works fine but every time I try using the keyboard, everything freezes. Even the volume control buttons on the side of the laptop won't work. Right now the keyboards are disabled, saying that they've been disabled since the drivers may be corrupt or missing. I've been using the on-screen keyboard, but it's so hard to type documents. I hope you can give me advice on how to resolve this. Thanks much!
BTW, my laptop's model is ze4908us (i mixed 8 & 0 on the title) ==sorry!
Hi rhaiven29, please first confirm that all your System Drivers are up to date
You can do this by going here and clicking on "Start Detection" button http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic100655.html
I just installed win xp pro 32bit on a pavillion a1000n desktop pc, and now the display isn't working correctly. The color resolution won't go higher than 4bit? and I can't adjust display more than 620 x 480. For some reason the video driver isn't working.
Is it an internal graphics chip or a card?
I have a card labelled nothing but 'Elephant'. I plugged it in with XP and it had exactly the same visual issue as you seem to be having.
Hello I have a HP Pavillion x i in laptop I am having problems HP problems access Pavillion wifi point with the wifi staying connected and when the laptop is connected to wifi the internet speeds are slow The speeds are slow as in I cannot stream videos on HP Pavillion wifi access point problems youtube without constant pausing and even downloading something as simple as google chrome takes much longer than it is supposed to In my house there are plenty of other devices that are connected including my old laptop which has no problems downloading streaming and iphones and an ipad All of the other devices except my new HP laptop has no problem streaming and downloading The laptop is extremely new less than a week old I have tried updating the network driver resetting the network driver and disconnecting then reconnecting the wifi yet the problem keeps occuring I do have MacAfee so I guess that could pose a problem but I am unsure The adapter I use is a Qualcomm Atheros QCA with internet provided by COMCAST It could be an adapter problem but because of the other devices working fine I do not think that the problem is from the adapter Also the OS is Windows Thank you for your time and help

As of late my internet would be very very slow. At first it was just facebook.com, then after a while it was all of the websites that I visited. After a while, my internet browser (Chrome) would give me an error message saying that it was unable to connect to the website. I would just click reload a few times and then the site would load. Now, no website will load regardless, however, I can easily hold conversations via AIM. Thus, I know it is connecting to the internet. This problem happened once before, so I did a system restore and everything was working fine. Now, I tired doing a system restore and the problem in still there. I do not know what to do. Any suggestions?
I just bought an Hp Pavillion a6567c, it has a raid ic97 controller on the motherboard. It is a Asus IPIBL-LB. I just connected two Western Digital WD2502ABYS HARD DRIVES. I already reset or flashed the bios by moving the pins. I have also already removed the battery from the motherboard. When i turn on the pc, i get no screen. THe monitor goes into sleep mode. Is there anything i can do so that i may install the os and get on with creating a raid 1?

Hi I have an HP Pavillion dv cl dv series with Vista Home and I m having problems getting the battery to charge First off I HP problems battery/charging Pavillion DV6000 should probably say that there was a power outage due to rain and lightning last night when the laptop was in hibernate and the problem first started this morning when I booted it back up probably not a coincidence My HP warranty is expired so I can t turn to them I m currently running off AC power and if I were to unplug the cord even for a second the computer would lose power and shut down I tried once The battery is plugged in but there is literally no power absolutely The blue light around the AC adapter works fine and when the battery is plugged in the charging light on the front is lit up as if it is charging When I take out the battery the charging light goes out then turns on when I plug the battery back in Also when I plug the battery back in the battery sign in the taskbar indicates that it is charging but it stops after maybe seconds It will also periodically say in the taskbar that it is charged but it will go back to after a few seconds I m not sure why Things I ve tried Shut down computer remove HP Pavillion DV6000 battery/charging problems AC and battery for several minutes plug both back in boot up computer Didn t work Downloaded HP s quot Battery Check quot software It says that it is charged and under quot Health quot it says quot Replace quot Not good Looked in BIOS for anything related to HP Pavillion DV6000 battery/charging problems batteries Nothing there that I could find Under quot Device Manager quot I uninstalled quot HP Pavillion DV6000 battery/charging problems Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Battery quot then had it detect new devices and it was reinstalled Didn t help Dug out another battery I own I got the newer battery along with the motherboard while it was still under warranty even though it was purely a motherboard issue so the older battery should at least work The same thing happens with the other battery even after repeating steps - and this battery was not plugged in during the power outage The only difference is that the older battery has a lower storage capacity according to HP s Battery Check software which makes sense because it s a few years older My first theory was that the power outage wrecked the battery but since the other battery doesn t work either I don t think that s the case At this point I m assuming that there is some problem getting AC power to the battery but then why does the computer recognize the battery from detecting hardware changes and the lights respond to the presence of a battery I m stumped and turning to you guys as a last resort Please please help because there s no way that I m getting this old laptop fixed just to be able to use battery power I can live with just AC until I get a new laptop nbsp
Im in a spot of bother, ive just removed vista and installed xp, problem is i cant seem to get the right drivers and HP support were all but useless, only supporting machines with its pre-installed software ie.VISTA
the wireless assistant keep saying thats its disabled, but when i turn the switch on & off it does nothing at all.
HP pointed me to a bios upgrade but that just said to me that its not for my notebook pc, so no help there
I did find a similar thread but they had intel proc. in them this one is an AMD.
I cant even connect to the 'net with the cord from the modem let alone wireless ...
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I have a CompUSA PC AmeriPro PII and I m having problems with a DVD-Rom that use to work but recently stopped After hours of looking at this thing I think I have narrowed down the problem I am fortunate I think to have of Problems Notebook DVD these systems with the same setup so I am able to compare one system to the other By doing this I have found Windows on one Notebook DVD Problems system does not have the secondary IDE controller installed while the other does I know this is why I can t see the Notebook DVD Problems drive in Windows but why wouldn t I be able to see it in dos I also compared all Bios settings and ensured that they were the same including the Bios version While in the Bios I noticed that secondary master and slave were both set to auto I assuming that since the other is set the same way and works that the computer automatically recognizes the drive type But I also tried to set the secondary master to CDROM thinking that I would force it find a CDROM and my problems would be over But of coarse no luck Another thought would be that the drive was bad so I installed another one and still no luck I m dreading the thought that the controller is bad but would like someone to help determine that being true or false Any ideas nbsp
What happens if you take the bad drive and put it on the working computer, does it work or fail
I no nothing about notebooks, never had one, but I would suspect a bad connection somewhere. If windows was recognizing the drive it would reinstall the secondary ide controller on reboot.
My HP Pavillion Notebook is only 2 years old. Have been getting a sad face with error message and laptop shuts down and restarts. Doesn't save anything in word document, pdf or excel. Started making weird noises in class. My 2 year extended warranty on notebook expired 2 weeks ago. Not sure if this is hard drive problems or what? Best Buy wants over $ 200 to do a diagnostic on hard drive. With extended warranty and this amount - I could purchase a new laptop. Only use it for school work - taking notes, etc. Computer was cleaned out in Feb. 2016 with viruses, etc. and updated. Please help me figure out what is wrong and least amount to fix. I am a struggling student. Thank you.
Well struggle to please give us the model number of the laptop. Please. $200 to test the hard drive? And people wonder why I constantly criticize Geek Squad. There are free built in hardware diagnostics we can walk you though but OH we need the model number to provide you specific instructions.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Notebook-Problems/td-p/5761942
Just bought a new Toshiba Notebook which was working fine until yesterday. Now, I cannot get on the Internet with the wireless connection, programs won't pop up, etc.
Can somebody help?
Toshiba has a notebook maximizer that will help to reestablish your connection. If the wireless is "built in" , has it been switched? You could also check your wireless device driver.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/28133/new-notebook-problems/
I'm looking to upgrade my Macbook's RAM with 2 x 2GB OCZ "Vista" sticks. I'm a bit hesitant to purchase them given how inexpensive they are (compared to the offerings from Crucial, Kingston, etc.).
Is OCZ infamous for poor quality/reliability? If so, then which manufacturer would you recommend?
RE: HP Pavilion Notebook ze5170 Windows XP
(1) My laptop (with AC plugged in) will totally shut off on its own, no warning.
(2) Long before this started happening, the screen started going black, usually when the screen is moved backward or forward.
(3) The Restart feature no longer works; I have to Turn Off the computer and then turn it on manually.
Help with any three of these would be appreciated, although #1 is primary.
Hi and welcome
(1) Could be a number of issues, but more than likely overheating. A bad hard drive should FREEZE the computer, not shut it down. Other possibility would be a lose AC connector on the laptop which means it would be “without power” if the battery is also discharged. Another possibility would be a bad motherboard, which could shutdown the PC but would more than likely FREEZE it also.
(2) Bad cable in the LCD display; possibly loose, broken, or caught in the hinges.
(3) More than likely something software related. I would fix problem 1 & 2 before going into that too much.
My network card slot in my old compaq m300 notebook has been damaged. Is this part replaceable? The network card got pushed in too far and broke the contact end off the card slot. Cn I buy the slot, disassemble, and replace to get the notebook back up on my wireless network??
Why are notebooks so difficult problems Notebook to work on I am currently working on a Toshiba -S Notebook problems Celeron running sort of XP home There are some major problems with the Windows system file When you try to boot it up it comes says that Windows was not shut down properly Choose between Safe Mode Safe Mode with networking Safe Mode with Command prompt Last Known Configuration Start Windows normally No matter which one you try it comes back with the same error verbatum Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt WINDOWS SYSTEM CONFIG SYSTEM You can attempt to repair this file by starting Windows Setup using the original Setup CD-ROM Select r at the first screen to repair I changed the boot sequence from BIOS to read CD before HD put in a bootable CD and it says the only way to repair it is basically to re-install the OS I don t really have a problem with doing that however because the owner does not have a rescue CD I used one from a different computer I am waiting for permission from the owner to reinstall the OS but until then I was wondering a few things I was under the impression that rescue CDs do not have the OS on them They basically just point the computer to a hidden partition on the HD to reinstall If that is the case is there a way that i can hook up this laptop to another computer via a router so that the working computer can at least copy the information off the laptop s HD for backup purposes Would I be able to purchase a full version of XP home and use that to repair On all of the computers that I have built well all of them except for one I purchase the full version of XP and I give really sell as it is included with the price it to my client with the computer If I was to purchase a full version then I should be able to use the license code that is on the sticker placed on the computer right In that case I would not really be losing out because I could still use the license code for my next client I am under the impression that the files are missing due to viruses In this case it may just be better to just wipe it clean I just wanted some options for my client Thanks for your opinions and suggestions
Would I be able to purchase a full version of XP home and use that to repair? On all of the computers that I have built (well, all of them except for one), I purchase the full version of XP, and I give (really sell as it is included with the price) it to my client with the computer. If I was to purchase a full version, then I should be able to use the license code that is on the sticker placed on the computer, right? As long as you are reinstalling the same version of XP as was on the machine (Home vs Pro) then yes, you can do that. After installing the OS, change the COA number to the number licensed to the laptop. Procedure here.http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/4362/notebook-problems/
Hi,I have faced a problem a period ago, but i didn't have time to find someting about it. My USB ports are not working and I have tried nearly everything to solve this issue. I have updated drivers different time, trying to unplug them from the system, but nothing worked.Today I was realy fed up and I tried to reboot the system and to get somehow to BIOS. I found out HP PC Hardware diagnostics UEFI ver. 22.214.171.124 instead.I have started USB Port check, but it was failed.GK742M-761897-MFPWXF-8D0603You can see the code of failure above.Same thing for each USB.Can somebody advice me what to do?Help will be very appreciated.Thank's in advance!Regards,Bogdanhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/notebook-usb-problems/td-p/5815930
Thanks for dropping by as you will see from my questions I don t know much about computers I have questions concerning my notebook computer and I would appreciate anyone on Need my problems? notebook help urgent s help on my questions Thanks in Need urgent help on my notebook problems? advance I have a fujitzu lifebook c notebook herz pentium GB mbram - I recently have windows installed and it is running very slow could I speed it up by upgrading the memory from to - What is the minimum system requirement for operationg windows - Since the windows is running so slow I want to reinstall win but the message I am getting is that I need to Need urgent help on my notebook problems? get out of windows and run install from DOS But how to you get to DOS without getting into windows -Since I am so desperate I am even considering deleting the whole harddrive and reinstall win that way How do you format the harddrive and would windows have system drivers for Fujizu included I have lost the system driver CD please help nbsp
Yes, an increase in memory will make win2k run both smoother and speed-up performance. If you want to re-install win98, you should reformat and reload win98 from the cd. If you need help with the reformat, post back and I will try to help you through it. I may be off line for awhile I am having problems with a new motherboard and processor that I installed last night.
Whenever I use the wordpad or notebook and even while typing on here the words don't show up until the last word is there.I noticed on wordpad that the curser would move then two letters would pop up at one time. This is making typing real slow. I first noticed the problem on yahoo messenger, very slow typing. But then I used the wordpad program and noticed it there too. I deleted instant messenger and reloaded the newest one.And the problem seemed to be gone . Then it was back. I have ran virus detection and found no viruses. So this seems like a windows problem. I'm running win98 2nd edition on a NEC GT 200 ,450mhz.
Assuming your virus defs were up to date, an intermittent fault could indicate a driver problem or a keyboard failure.
Have you tried swapping out the keyboard for another from a friend/colleague?
To check a driver fault, you could delete the keyboard entry in Device Manager and then reboot so Windows re-finds it and installs the driver again.
Just my odd thoughts...
I have a Gateway Notebook.
It's almost 1 year old.
I have 4 USB Ports. Up until yesterday they all worked.
I tried to install ATI Wonder TV Tuner Card.
It didn't recognize the USB Port. I've had a logitech wireless mouse plugged in
for several months. Now it doesn't recognize it.
I tried plugging it into all the ports and the notebook acts like nothing was
I have an Acer Aspire Notebook I bought two years ago. I had this problem once, under warranty, which was fixed by Acer. Now it has happened again and I don't know what to do...
When I turn it on, the screen may stay black, it may go through the 'check program', it may start displaying a screen saver, or...
like it usually does...
the computer will go to the login screen, but the touchpad or keyboard will be completely unresponsive. I can't move the mouse, I can't type my password in, I can't do ANYTHING....
SO... What's going on with it?? Is there something I can do?? This is my only computer, so please help...

2 year old Acer laptop out of warranty and a repeat mis-performer.
Check the cooling vents are CLEAN! I mean REALLY CLEAN! Suck the crud out with a vaccuum cleaner.
Contact Acer, ask them what they did (you'll obviously have the references).
The computer is an HP Pavilion ze us Athlon XP MB RAM Integrated ATI Graphics M Windows XP SP There are a number of problems Start up problems Sometimes when the system is turned on the hard drive will not spin the fans and monitor will not turn on but the LEDs on the keyboard are activated It often takes several attempts to get the system to actually boot to windows Random crashes - sometimes the system will last for days but usually it will crash seemingly randomly within a few hours Often it will end up in the state described in Input failure - The mouse will begin to jump across the screen when the touchpad is used the keyboard will function and HP notebook (crashes problems more) incorrectly press and get a for example and all other buttons volume will be non-functional with the exception of power Some other information The cd drive is broken I HP notebook problems (crashes and more) am uncertain as to whether this is a problem with the drive or something else It spins up at boot but is nerver detected There is no floppy drive either so running memory tests may prove difficult This computer has been used for parts ever since this problem appeared a few years ago As such the hard drive has been replaced as has the cd drive with another perhaps nonfunctional drive The battery also does not hold a charge for much longer than minutes Has anyone encountered anything like this before Any help would be much appreciated Thanks nbsp
Just trashed one the same model for the symptoms of problem 1, which were permanent and not intermittent.
Have another here with the intermittent problems in #1, the owner did the sensible thing and bought a new one.
There is nothing that I could determine here by thorough testing including disassembly, seems like a motherboard issue. That means its uneconomic for a laptop of that age, in my view.
I have a HP15-G023ne notebook which is just two years old. The PC will not run off of the battery, only on average power. When plugged in it shows as 'not charging' and power light flashes.. but when I run battery check in HP assist it passes the test and says battery is fine. what could cause this???http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Notebook-power-problems/td-p/5839935

I've got an HP dv5000 notebook with some weird HD problems I've never seen before and maybe someone can offer me a suggestion.. It will boot to the XP boot menu where you can choose safe mode, normal etc. When I choose safe it will start loading the drivers and at some point quickly flash a BSOD and reboot. OK So I thought boot up an XP boot disk and try a repair or chkdsk. Well when I do that XP setup tells me that no hard drives exist. Bios has a built in hard drive diagnostic utility and that does nothing and craps out. At this point I'm ready to trash the HD but I'm still wondering why does it partially boot??
99 percent of the time, I would say your hard drive is defective... probably the first four sectors have peeled.
It is not really "partially booting" in the way that you imagine, but is rather part of HP's system for handling the boot process. The BSOD is your clue.
Do not mess with it further, if you have valuable data on the drive, as it is perhaps still possible to rescue data while jumpered as a slave. But I doubt the drive will ever work again. The more you mess with it, the greater your risk of recovering valuable data.
I have a Sony Viao model PCG-FRV notebook and recently had an incident when water fell out of a large mug notebook with problems drivers and spilled on the computer It ceased working for about a notebook problems with drivers month altogether Then when it finally worked after almost giving in to sending it to a shop It would run with a lot of problems and the startup time was incredibly long I figured it had driver software problems so i picked up a copy of win xp pro and reinstalled windows it worked great with the exception of a loss of speed the integrated video adapter refuses to play any games and the DVD drive reads only as a cd drive I can understand that there is a connection to the water damage in this insance but there must be some thing i can do to restore what i can without sending it in i visited the manufacturer of the dvd drive qsi and they claim to have a driver thats perfect but when i downloaded it it did notebook problems with drivers nothing I need some sujestions on what i might need to do Working drivers and any hardware solutions would be ahuge help Thanks -Rick nbsp
Hello! Welcome to TechSpot!
I have a customer with a dell laptop that did the samething.
Most laptops are not that hard to take a part.
I had her pull the battery and any panels on the bottom, then
pull the top keyboard panel. Using compressed air to blow water/liquid
out as best as possible. Then leave it to dry naturally, 1 1/2wks.
Her system survived.
In your case, since you've given your laptop suffecient time to dry out.
I would have you disasemble the same way (as far down as you can).
Pull the ram, video, dvd, hdd, cpu etc. if you can.
Get some contact cleaner and canned air, comes in an aerosol can.
You'll want to use them simultainiously to clean and dry all surfaces and contacts.
This can and does work, however on a dificulty scale of 1 to 10,
10=hardest, this is an 8 1/2.
The fall back failure is any short outs your system got at the time of spill,
that may have damaged some thing. Water is not the greatest conductor
but it can short circut things.
wave new notebook display problems hp to your boards via search i rarely have any problems that i cant fix but this one has me stumped i had just installed a hp notebook display problems fresh quot HDD to a HP pavillion zt notebook everything is working perfectly with one major exception hp notebook display problems I will be browsing hp notebook display problems either the internet or windows explorer and my display will go black as if i push on the peg that automatically shuts off the display the peg that shuts off the display if the notebook is closed shut when it goes out i simply hit that peg and the display will come back on sometimes either that or the notebook will go into standby mode and even sometimes when i try to bring the notebook out of standby mode it will restart i m stumped i have just recently re-installed the display dirver quot S Savage ProDDR quot for the tenth time and upon reading almost everywhere i have re-installed the factory driver settings as well i know that it s not a power setting cause i ve eliminated that possibility by adjusting the power settings so it won t happen so far after about min of re-installing all of the drivers the display hasn t shut off but just in case my fix didnt happen it would be good to get some feedback on how to fix it and i would love to know why this happened in the first place for future reference thanks for any help mike grinthumb WinXP Pro SP intel pentium GHz MB Ram nbsp
the s3 graphics you have are integrated into the motherboard and this means you dont have a video card, which will cause a lack of performance. your display settings might have been higher than the maximum for your screen. refresh rate, resolution, etc might have worked for a bit thne shut down. this stuff im telling you might not be right, so i hope one of the veterans replies to this.
I have a Toshiba - Satellite A100-(PSAA5A). It is capable of taking 2 sticks of RAM 1G each. Though when I put 1G of RAM in each slot the PC will crash. Each stick of RAM appears to be good cause used alone in either slot, works fine. Even a 1G and a 512 will work together. But as soon as I put 1G in each slot it crashes.
Both sticks of RAM are Kingston 1G PC2 - 5300 CL5 200 - Pin SODIMM
Any reason why this is doing this?
I have an 18-month old P4 1.8MHz notebook and i used to get 2.5 hours max with it. Now, I am lucky to get 40 minutes max. I have always been concious of charging it only when prompted if i ever unplug it. However, I do keep it plugged in majority of the time. Is my battery dying? I want to recondition it myslef to save money. Any ideas on where or how to start?
Surprisingly, I'm having the same problem on my 1 year old Toshiba. It gets a huge amount of on wall use, and I have a laptop cooler running on the USB port. It must be something about my battery, but I can't afford to buy a new one. The loss of battery life corresponds to my laptop install of Red Hat 9.

a). I am getting the foll. error when I tryto login to a website. This problem has started since Monday and I had no problems earlier. Others in my company also login to the same site and they dont have this error msg popping up.
This server could not verify that you are authorized to access the document you requested. Either you supplied the wrong credentials (e.g. bad password), or your browser does not understand how to supply the credentials required.
b). Whenever I use dial-up to access the net, my Compaq Presario 2596us freezes for about 10 minutes or so and then becomes ok. During these 10 mins. i have a toshiba a100 notebook, 2 GB ram, 1.6 GHZ, Windows Vista
and whenever i try to make the laptop go to sleep, like pressing the power button or closing the lid, it freezes.
i don't know what is wrong.
i searched for viruses, did registry check and disc checked and everything says that it is ok, but it still freezes.
can someone help me with this?
Dell XPS 140.
Netgear wireless router.
Signal Strength - Excellent
We cannot connect to the net. We get the tool bar and google appears to try to load and that it. The XPS can connect if we use the ethernet cable straight to the modem.
We didn't have any problem until my son loaned the XPS to his mom for a week or so. When we got it back we couldn't get it to connect. Asking my ex what she did would be a waste of time.
A laptop belonging to someone else has no problem connecting to the net at our house.
What you got?
DSL or Cable?
If either? Unplug the Modem and turn off the Router?
If you don't have a Router then just unplug the Modem and wait a minute. Then plug in back the power. You might have to reboot the PC connected to the Modem?
If you have the Modem and Router unplug the modem then the router and wait a minute or two. Then plugin the power for Modem then for the Router. Wait for it to connect.
Your WAN (wide area network (internet) is down that's your problem since you LAN is up (local area network)
