Preferred Solution: System Error - Event Category (102) - Event ID 1003 Windows OS

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

are these errors occurring out of the blue or do they happen when you run certain things? did you recently install new drivers or updates? posting the full specs of your machine and which operating system would also be helpful.

Not enough information at this point to help. The error is 0xD1 and they are usually caused by faulty drivers but they also can be caused by faulty or mismatched RAM.

Please give us your hardware system specs including make and model of your motherboard, the make, type and amount of RAM you have installed, video card, etc.

Tell us what antivirus software, etc., you are running along with Operating System.

Lastly, when do these BSODs occur, i.e., randomnly, gaming, watching videos, etc.?

I have a nF4 mainboard and I suspect that the nv ATA or LAN drivers could cause this, but I would like to have more than my suspicions

Go to C:/Windows/Minidumps, zip up a few minidumps and attach them to this thread and then we can try and pinpoint the problem.

A:XP SP3 System Error Category (102) Event ID 1003 Code 1000007f

As per auhma.org: 0x0000007F: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

One of three types of problems occurred in kernel-mode: (1) Hardware failures. (2) Software problems. (3) A bound trap (i.e., a condition that the kernel is not allowed to have or intercept). Hardware failures are the most common cause and, of these, memory hardware failures are the most common.

So, 0x7F errors can be due to several things and corrupted memory is the most common. You will need to run MemTest on your RAM www.memtest.org Any errors and you have RAM that needs to be replaced.

How much RAM do you currently have, i.e., sticks? Since Memtest takes a long time and you are with time constraints try this: Take out one stick of RAM and see if that brings stability. If not switch out your RAM sticks.

* When you say you have errors with the minidumps what do you mean? You can zip up to 5 together in compressed format and attach to your posting.

* I strongly suggest you back up all of your hard work just in case.

Hi,

I used a USB memory stick a few days ago, since using that, my laptop is blue screening.
The error reported is "Event 1003, category 102".

I'd like some help if possible please on how I can fix this issue.

I've completed some research and have uploaded the Minidump file which should help.
The file extension was originally "*.dmp", but I had to rename the extension to "*.txt" to allow it to be uploaded.

Thanks guys, appreciate your support.

The minimum Passes for Memtest is 7 and the more the better. 0x8E errors are almost always caused by hardware and is a very strong indicator of corrupted memory.

0x4E: PFN_LIST_CORRUPT is possibly the single strongest indicator of corrupted memory though there may be other reasons.

* Rerun memtest over night and check it in the morning. One other thing you can check through the BIOS is to see if the motherboard has set the RAM voltage to the manufacture's specs.

*** Attach the five most recent minidumps. Don't zip each one individually. Put them in one Zip file.

How to find and post your Minidump Files:

My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.

It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.

It has been cleaned of all viruses and spyware. I've used spybot, ad-aware, microsoft antispyware, and numerous virus software.

Hi DTracey,

One minidump is insufficient to find out the culprit. Attach 5 to 6 minidumps here. The prelimary finding is faulty memory. Run memtest to stress test the ram.

A:System Error - Event ID 1003

First, we here at TechSpot strongly recommend all XP users to update to SP 3. Microsoft no longer supports SP2 and from a security point it is essential.

Second, both errors are 0xD1 which are usually caused by faulty drivers. In both files they cite the driver iaStor.sys as the cause of your issues.

This iastor.sys driver is the Intel matrix storage manager driver file; once windows loads it's always running anyways if you have a HDD controller that needs it.

It is a necessary file as it blocks windows from starting up when damaged

It is used to control the SATA disks, usually for raid systems but still used in normal single disk setups as well. It should NOT be removed.

* Update your chipset drivers from your PC build manufacture. Make sure you get your model correct.

My computer reboots itself every time it is powered up . Not absolutely predictable when it will do this. It will usually do it itself within 10 minutes of being booted if left alone. It will do it sooner if someone tries using the computer immediately after booting up. Never does it a second time. I cannot recall this commencing with installing any particular hardware or program. Here is the description:

Error code 1000007e, parameter1 c0000005, parameter2 804fcc49, parameter3 f7a53c94, parameter4 f7a53990.

Event Error #1003, Source: System error, Description: Error code: 1000007e

Error code: 1000007e - From a newsgroup post: "Turns out it was an errant file from the Sonic MyDVD program that I never use. I found this out because whenever it would crash to the blue screen, it mentioned the file tfsnpool.sys. I did a search for that file, checked the properties and found it was put there by Sonic and had something to do with the drive letter. So I renamed the files, which was probably taking a big chance, deleted everything Sonic related and all is well"Click to expand...

Source: EventID.net

Another cause can be the program called Easy file & folder protector. fdcbnt.sys is the culprit. If you have this, try uninstalling the program and see if that resolved the problem.

So with the information given, these are two possibilities.

Hello,

My machine here at work started recently going through a frequent reboot cycle (maybe once an hour) and also constantly getting an Error Report of "The system as recovered from a serious error". Sometimes, I can click "Don't Send" and 2 seconds later it pops back up. I have run Chkdsk to recover any disk errors (and there were some) but this hasn't resolved the issue.

I was wondering if I could get some help reading the memory dumps? I'm trying to figure out how to interpret these, but so far have not found much. Attached are some of the most recent dumps.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:Help with XP Memory Dump Files (System Error Cat 102 Event ID 1003)

All five minidumps report error 0x00000035: NO_MORE_IRP_STACK_LOCATIONS
In theory, this is a driver or other software issue, which encounters a stack problem. In practice, it has historically pointed to a driver problem and also occurs when RAM itself is flawed.

All five point to the same Symantec driver symevent.sys as the cause of your issues.

* This driver appears here a lot and we have lost count of the number of people that have had issues with Symantec/Norton. Your options are the following:

1. Update Symantec

2. Uninstall and reinstall.

3. Completely uninstall and go with much better solutions. If you decide to go this route be aware that Symantec/Norton are notoriously known for leaving remanants of itself behind and causing issues with a system. It is such a problem that Symantec had to create a special Removal Toll for each and every version they have. It is to be used after you do a normal uninstall.

* Also, I strongly suggest for security sake to update to Service Pack 3.

A:System Error: Cat:(102) Event: 1003 - Blue Screen Error frequently.

At first sight this could be the result of a windows update messing with a driver, or possibly a recent driver update. Have you tried going back on a recent driver update or possible a system restore to see if this cures it? The trouble with intermittent BSDs like this is that it can take an age to check!

A:winxp show Blue Screen and Restart (event id 1003 system error)

It looks to be a hardware problem. Have you added any new hardware lately, e.g. RAM? Any overclocking?

You've also got a Norton file left over. You need to make sure all remnants of Norton are removed.

Good day to all.

I hope this is right place for this thread. I recently opened event viewer and found this error:

The description for Event ID 1003 from source ISCT Agent cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

The following information was included with the event:

CAgentState:oPeriodicSuspendResume ****Error in initialize NetDetect, status = 0x2
the message resource is present but the message is not found in the string/message table

Any and all help is appreciated as I am scratching my head trying to figure this out. Thanks in advance.

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

3 minidumps crash at vsdatant.sys. This is your Zonealarm firewall. It is known to cause problems on some systems/configurations. They have a bugcheck of C2.

Try updating Zonealarm. if that doesn`t help. Uninstall Zonealarm, and try a different firewall programme, such as the Kerio firewall from HERE

3 minidumps crash at ntkrnlmp.exe. This is a NT Kernel & System file. They have a bugcheck of 50.

It could be that Zonealarm is the cause of all your crashes, so deal with that first, and test your system.

If after doing that you still get BSOD`s, go HERE and follow the instructions.

0x000000C2: BAD_POOL_CALLER

A kernel-mode process or driver incorrectly attempted to perform memory operations. Typically, a faulty driver or buggy software causes this.

0x00000050: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

Requested data was not in memory. An invalid system memory address was referenced. Defective memory (including main memory, L2 RAM cache, video RAM) or incompatible software (including remote control and antivirus software) might cause this Stop message, as may other hardware problems (e.g., incorrect SCSI termination or a flawed PCI card).

Its happens randomly.whether im listening to music or trying to complete my project using high-end software such as MATLAB or Pro Engineer wildire 4

I saw in one of your other threads that you were able to read minidumps and give a solution.

heres my last 5 minidumps.

can someone please help me.. im so used to having this problem .that i have forgotten what it is like to sit back leisurely and enjoy the pleasure of having a good pc.

A:I been having event error 1003 for three years now

One minidump cited 0xD1 error which are caused by a faulty driver or buggy software. In this one ALCXWDM.SYS was cited which is a driver for Realtec AC'97 audio.

Another 0xD1 is A3AB.sys which is a driver for D-Link wireless network adapter.

A third minidump cited error 0xC2: BAD_POOL_CALLER which means that a kernel-mode process or driver incorrectly attempted to perform memory operations. Typically, a faulty driver or buggy software causes this.

The problem here is it cited the Windows core driver ntoskrnl.exe which isn't much help in analysis.

Your two remaining errors were both 0xA which are caused by IRQ level conflicts. Faulty drivers can be the cause but these errors also point to possible hardware issues. Again, ntoskrnl.exe was cited but also Orb.exe was liusted in the processes.

I suggest the following:

1. Go to your motherboard manufacturer's website, find your particular motherboard and update to the latest drivers offered. This should include your Realtek drivers and possibly your D-Link as well if it came packaged with your motherboard. If not then go to D-Link and update your wireless drivers.

2. Determine whether or not Orb.exe is legitimate or not. There is a malware out there called ORB.EXE and there is a legitimate Orb.exe from Orb Network, Inc. If the latter, update or re-install.

3. Run Chkdsk.

Hi All,

I would like to seek your help in resolving the issue on one of our laptops here. It is running on Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit SP1. Our current problem with this laptop is that when a windows security credential screen pops up, system then hangs. It only
happens with Microsoft related applications (Microsoft Outlook 2013, Lync 2013, and Internet explorer). Same problem happens using a different user profile. For the Internet Explorer, when user opens any site that requires a windows security credential popup
screen, the internet explorer would stop responding once the security screen pops up. Same goes with MS Outlook and Lync when the security credential screen pops up due to the switch of network connectivity. Once the logon screen pops up, the application hangs.
Event ID is 1002. We don't experience this problem in terms of browser issue when we use the Chrome. Hope to hear from all of you soon.
Thanks

Sudden shut downs without warning will most often turn out to be defective power supply or motherboard related, temps will usually cause the motherboard speaker to beep(providing you have on hooked to the motherboard) before shutting down.

That said the 87c is too hot for that CPU> https://community.amd.com/thread/171115 what cooler are you using?

AODDriver2.sys Tue Feb 11 0652 2014 is a AMD overdrive driver that's part of AMD fuel located here> C:\Program Files\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Fuel\amd64\AODDriver2.sys see if you can remove the AMD fuel program it's been a problem on quite a few systems but I've never heard of shutting the system down.

The last 3 dumps are all different that usually points to hardware as the cause if all your sticks pass memtest86+,you get the CPU temp down and removing AMD overdrive does not help then we'll have to try running driver verifier.

I keep getting random restarts for no reason, so after trying to troubleshoot the issue myself I have finally decided to post here for some help/suggestions. The error from the event log details: The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly. Sorry for the delay in responding.  I've been working on this for 3 days but my babysitting interfered with it (I've got my grandson for a week!) Your UEFI/BIOS (version FC) dates from 2013.  Please check at the manufacturer's website to see if there are any UEFI/BIOS updates available for your system.  If you are able to install the update through Windows (without booting from an external drive), then go ahead and update it.  WARNING - if the computer might shut down during this procedure, please don't do it, as this may physically damage the computer and prevent it from booting.Only 699 mB of available RAM.  Please updgrade your RAM (if the system is capable).  While waiting to upgrade the RAM, please only run one program at a time in order to maintain system performance. Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver, although I have seen both dtsoftbus01.sys and dtscsibus.sys blamed on several occasions). Please un-install the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration):  New link (15 Aug 2012):  http://www.duplexsecure.com/downloads (pick the appropriate version for your system and select "Un-install" when you run it).Alternate link:  http://www.disc-tools.com/download/sptdManual procedure here:  http://daemonpro-help.com/en/problems_and_solutions/registry_and_sptd_problems.html AMD OverDrive (AODDriver2.sys) is either a stand-alone application, or a component of the AMD VISION Engine Control Center.  This driver is known to cause BSOD's on some Windows systems.NOTE:  these symptoms were from the previous release of OverDrive.  The new release uses the same driver name, but is dated from 4 November 2013.Please un-install all AMD/ATI video stuff from Control Panel...Programs...Un-install a programThen, download (but DO NOT install) a fresh copy of the ATI drivers from http://www.amd.com (in the upper right corner of the page)Use this procedure to install the DRIVER ONLY:  http://www.sysnative.com/forums/showthread.php/668-ATI-video-cards-DRIVER-ONLY-installation-procedureIf the device (AODDriver or AODDriver4.01) remains a problem, open Device Manager, select the "View" item. Then select "Show hidden devices" and scroll down to the Non-Plug and Play Drivers section.Locate the AODDriver entry, right click on it and select "Un-install".  Reboot for changes to take affect.Sometimes the driver remains and continues to cause BSOD's.  If this is the case for you, post back and we'll give further instructions for safely removing it.If overclocking, please stop. Remove the overclock and return the system to stock/standard values while we're troubleshooting. Once the system is stable again, feel free to resume the overclocking.Out of 13 memory dumps there were 7 different BSOD  (aka STOP or BugCheck) error codes.  The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things (the list is not in any sort of order):- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)- overclocking/overheating - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.- dirt/dust/hair/fur/crud inside the case.  Blow out the case/vents with canned air (DO NOT use an air compressor or vacuum as they can cause damage to the system)- missing Windows Updates- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers), older systems, or even pirated systems- low-level driver problems- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from http://www.carrona.org/initdiag.html or http://www.carrona.org/hwdiag.... In the absence of anyone who knows what they are doing yours truely is trying to overcome a problem with seemingly random restarts on my server PC Sometimes the server restarts at midday but also at other times The problem started on Sept a few hours after the installation of an upgrade to the quot Symantec Client Security quot small business pack ver this contains license of Symantec Antivisus plus copy of Semantic Service Center v This made me very suspicious of the upgrade and I have had since had exhaustive support from them up to the point of them exhausting all the possible problems and pointing me back to Microsoft So far I have been in contact with Symantec and Dell the server PC and done everything they have advised - all to no effect Breifly the list of tasks performed is as follows - Remove and Reinstall all Symantec software Update virus definition files amp run anti virus scan on the whole PC Server 1003 2003 repeated - Windows Event restarts ID on from safe mode no viruses found Change the timing of the AV automatic updates from daily to weekly Now happens on Sunday Download and run the Dell Event ID 1003 on Windows Server 2003 - repeated restarts -bit Diagnostic utility V - all tests pass OK this includes the memory test which I see in several other threads by the way Install microsoft exchange server SP as advised by Microsoft article This needed the hotfix Also installed SP which needed the removal of Exchange intelligent message filter program Downloaded a patch from Symantec to overcome problem with automatic updates Event ID 1003 on Windows Server 2003 - repeated restarts not working properly Read all the threads and searched for the same thing all over the web This looked like Event ID 1003 on Windows Server 2003 - repeated restarts a promising and friendly site so I thought I d register and see if you could spot the problem I ve zipped and attached the most recent minidumps as this seems to be a key bit of information Attached a screen dump from the Event Viewer which shows nearly all the crash dates being coincident with this one event id system error Please note that the log says ish for a lot of the error messages but it was actually ish - maybe the daylight saving adustment is factored in Also just for completeness here is a summary of the Server PC - Dell PowerEdge Intel Pentium GHz GB RAM Disk Maxstor SATA drive RAID array Running Microsoft Windows Server for Small Business Server and Symantec Client Security This is used as a file server and email server All suggestions welcome Many thanks Jim Biddle nbsp

A:Event ID 1003 on Windows Server 2003 - repeated restarts

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

Ah Symantec strikes again.

Both your minidumps crash at SYMEVENT.SYS. This is the Symantec Event Library.

This is a known issue on some systems/configurations.

Contact Symantec for more info.

If you can`t fix this problem, maybe you should try a different security product.

Regards Howard

I'm hoping someone can help me here.

I have, what I thought was, a reliable Dell Precision M4300 laptop. But I'm starting to get BSOD's with Event ID 1003 (Windows stop).

Here's the content of the event log. Also attached are the minidump's for the 3 times the BSOD happened.

Can anyone tell me what driver is causing it? Or tell me how to find out?

Thank you!

Hi,

The crashes are consistent and I believe that it is device driver error. Zip 2 to 3 minidumps to a zip file and attach it here. Techspot has an upper limit of 100K per attachment. I will study the dump and find out the culprit.

You can find the minidumps at the folder c:\windows\minidumps

If your machine is otherwise working O.K. at least you can still operate. Check the exact times of these errors and see if you put the puzzle together. It has to be stemming from the same cause (most likely). Eventually you will narrow it down. Any new software lately? Does it occur only at bootup?

Hi maituikas

MS has a big write up of a very similar issue to yours here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/897079

I'd say this would be step 1 to do.

Now wouldn't be good if I got it on the first reply to you Here's hoping :grinthumb

I read the five most recently dated minidumps and all are the same error code 0x0000007F: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP
One of three types of problems occurred in kernel-mode: (1) Hardware failures. (2) Software problems. (3) A bound trap (i.e., a condition that the kernel is not allowed to have or intercept). Hardware failures are the most common and, of these, memory hardware failures are the most common.

Your issue is with your Avira security software.

One file cited the Avira firewall TDI driver avfwot.sys as the cause of your system crashes.

The remaining four all cited the Avira Packet filtering kernel driver avfwim.sys which belongs to their product Antivir Workstation as the cause of your system crashes.

You could try the following:

1. Uninstall and reinstall your Avira softwware.

2. Update all things Avira.

3. Contact Avira and let them know of your crashes, that your minidumps were read, and give them the drivers specifically cited as the cause. I believe they also have an active community.

* Also, in the future please use the Zip option provided here. It will be easier for all of us. Thanks.

Depends on what options the manufacturer of your motherboard offers.

Step 6 here says you can: Universal abit > Motherboard, Digital Speakers, iDome, AirPace, Multimedia
Check to make sure that this is for your mobo: Universal abit > Motherboard, Digital Speakers, iDome, AirPace, Multimedia

Be very, very careful with flashing the BIOS. It is very unforgiving - one mistake can fry your motherboard.

Good luck!

0x8E errors are almost always caused by hardware and are strong indicators of corrupted memory. Run memtest on your system.

See the link below and follow the instructions. There is a newer version than what is listed but either one should work. If you need to see what the Memtest screen looks like go to reply #21. The third screen is the Memtest screen.

Step1 - Let it run for a LONG time. The rule is a minimum of 7 Passes; the more Passes after 7 so much the better. The only exception is if you start getting errors before 7 Passes then you can skip to Step 2.

There are 8 individual tests per Pass. Many people will start this test before going to bed and check it the next day.

If you have errors you have corrupted memory and it needs to be replaced.

Step 2 ? Because of errors you need to run this test per stick of RAM. Take out one and run the test. Then take that one out and put the other in and run the test. If you start getting errors before 7 Passes you know that stick is corrupted and you don?t need to run the test any further on that stick.

System:
Windows XP Pro SP2
AMD Athlon XP 1800 (1.53 GHz)
512 of ram

My system sometimes restarts and I got this in the event viewer:
Event ID: 1003, Category: 102, Source: System Error
Error code 100000d1, parameter1 00000000, parameter2 00000002, parameter3 00000001, parameter4 f3afec04.
The BSoD error is about "DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL"

I tried to find a solution by reading all the posts that deal with event ID 1003 and HTTP.sys but nobody has the "HTTP!UlIsLowNPPCondition+55" that I've seen in the minidump files...
I've already run a 10 passess Memtest86+ test and there's no RAM error...

So I am appealing to the forum to see if anybody could help/save me.

A:Random restarts - event id 1003

All logs (except 1) go to HTTP.sys
Usually you are also given Error logs in Start > Run > c:\windows\system32\logfiles httperr logs?
You might need to check that out

Also one Minidump went to klif.sys (Kaspersky) But the file mentioned was: NotMyfault.exe (Driver Bug test program)

Since you are trying to "test" your drivers, I would highly recommend you update to SP3 as a better option

I have been getting many event codes 1003 and 1015. About 10 per day lately. They disrupt my current program and sometimes even cause a reboot. 1003 says it was not able to renew the address. I don't have an explanation for 1015. How can I prevent this from happening?

A:Event ID:1003 - Computer Crash

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

3 minidumps crash with memory corruption, two have a bugcheck of 7F, one has a bugcheck of D1.

1 minidump crashes at tdi.sys. It has a bugcheck of D1.

I believe your problem is caused by either faulty ram or a faulty/underpowered psu.

0x0000007F: UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP

One of three types of problems occurred in kernel-mode: (1) Hardware failures. (2) Software problems. (3) A bound trap (i.e., a condition that the kernel is not allowed to have or intercept). Hardware failures are the most common cause (many dozen KB articles exist for this error referencing specific hardware failures) and, of these, memory hardware failures are the most common.

0x000000D1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

The system attempted to access pageable memory using a kernel process IRQL that was too high. The most typical cause is a bad device driver (one that uses improper addresses). It can also be caused faulty or mismatched RAM, or a damaged pagefile.

Go HERE and follow the instructions for testing your ram.

"The description for Event ID 1003 from source ISCT Agent cannot be found.

"

I get this almost everyday and it usually follows my computer freezing which I have to hard restart to fix.
I've tried installing new drivers for it but that didn't work. I assume I had the wrong version OR I installed incorrectly. I'd appreciate if some one could help me with this and walk me step by step to insure I do this the right way <3

I have a user that has been getting daily blue screens for the past couple of weeks. I did hardware and memory scans and found nothing. The event information that I could find points to some sort of driver problem but not sure what that could be. I have included the last 2 minidump files to see if anyone can point me in the right direction to solving this.

A:Daily BSOD on XP PC - Event ID: 1003

Your issue is with your Symantic security software. particuarly the driver symevent.sys. We have lost count of how often this driver/software has shown up here over the years. Try the following...

1. Update.

2. Uninstall, reinstall, and then update.

Hi onya81 and welcome

Does it freeze when you boot in safe mode (F8) with networking? If it doesn't chances are it is just a driver that needs to be re-installed.

Please check this for further instructions. USB Driver - General Fix for Problems

System event not recording anything. It is empty, says "date is invalid(13)".

I have some flaky things going on like unexplained CPU spikes causing slowdowns and mouse drag. Also have video problems screen going blank then recovery.

I have reloaded video drivers to no avail. No system lockups or BSODs. I need to see system event log to debug. Other event logs OK. I am proficient on PC and have searched for event log problem. The Event Log service is running. Thanks.

It also creates a mini dump file every time this happens. I checked the folder C:\Windows\Minidump and it loks like it been creating 6 to 8 dump files a month from this same issue. I donloaded Windebug to tyr and read the minidump files but it keeps telling me my sybol path is not correct an it wont debug the dump file.

Memory exception but we need to examine the DMP files to find out why.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP
We could also use some system information, which you can get easily by running msinfo32.
To do that go to start>run>type msinfo32>enter

When it is finished running go to file>save>name it and upload to us here.
You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Recently replaced HD as it has bad sectors. Installed back up Samsung HD and ran full tests after initial Windows 7 install. So a nice clean install on a healthy drive. After running Windows Update and then SlimDrivers I started getting BSOD. Ran MemTest and no errors and ran a couple of graphic card tests through Hirens Boot CD. Again no errors. PC is clean and according to SpeedFan is not over heating. Everything is the same as it was before the HD failure. Well obviously it's not, but I've done nothing different.

The first few BSOD's stopped after removing a USB Flash Drive. Now Dropbox (which I've used extensively on many PC's and Laptops) has started to crash. Again checked drive and all seems fine.

So latest BSOD as title says is BSOD Event ID 41 - Category 63.

So what do I do next.......?

Hi! I have been having an issue with my computer crashing during gaming sessions or just watching videos. This issue does not occur when simply viewing the web. The issue appears in Event Viewer as Kernel-Power Event ID: 41 Task 63 and states the computer did not shut down properly. I tried looking through many forums on different sites, but I can't find a solution. The reboots began when I got the PC back in July 2014 and thinking the issue was the graphics card and power supply, I had them both replaced. The issue continued even after they were replaced and I really can't figure this out. I would really like to know what is wrong with my computer so I hope someone can help me fix this!

My specs are:

Hey Gang,

Recently I began encountering a BSOD problem with Windows XP. Basically the system will start up, and then the BSOD will occur within 30 seconds of Windows starting, forcing a reset. The error looks something like "driver irql not less or equal" and has event ID 1003.

Error code 100000d1, parameter1 0000002a, parameter2 00000006, parameter3 00000000, parameter4 ba6fcafb.

I have included links to a couple of the minidumps produced after the error. Is there anyone out there that can read them and help me identify the culprit? Thanks in advance

Hello,
My server Win2003 OS randomly restarts (1-2 times a day)
I get following error message in Event Viewer:

Source: System Error
Category: (102)
Event ID: 1003

Error code 00000050, parameter1 a2f517fc, parameter2 00000001, parameter3 f61b4fe9, parameter4 00000000.

Can't find any issues with configuration, and i suspect that the reason is a hardware (possibly RAM)

Since i do not know how to read the minidumps - maybe some kind soul will help me figure out the culprit.

Hi,

One of the minidumps has code memory which is the symptom of faulty memory. It coulbd be caused by faulty ram or PSU.

The culprit is faulty memory. You can run memtest to stress the ram. If memtest reports the ram is faulty, ram is bad. However Memtest is not a perfect tool to test the memory as some faulty ram can pass memtest.

Suggestion
1. Check the temperature of the CPU and make sure that it is not overheat (ie temperature < 60C)
Make sure that the CPU fan works properly
2. Reseat the memory stick to another memory slot. Reseat video card as well.
3. Downclock the ram. Check to default setting if you video card is overclocked.
4. Clean the dust inside the computer case
5. Make sure that the ram is compatible to the motherboard
6. Check the bios setting about memory timing and make sure that it is on
For example : DIMM1 and DIMM2 do not have the same timing.
DIMM1: Corsair CMX512-3200C2 512 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM (2.5-3-3-8 @ 200 MHz) (2.0-3-3-7 @ 166 MHz)
DIMM2: Corsair CMX512-3200C2 512 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM (3.0-3-3-8 @ 200 MHz)
DIMM3: Corsair CMX512-3200C2 512 MB PC3200 DDR SDRAM (3.0-3-3-8 @ 200 MHz)
7. Make sure that your PSU have adequate power to drive all the hardware including USB devices
8. Run chkdsk /r at command prompt

If it still crashes, diagnostic which memory stick is faulty
1. Take out one memory stick. If windows does not crash, the removed memory stick is faulty.
2. If you have only one memory stick, replace the ram

Hi,

I have an XP Pro SP-2 desktop that I removed from a domain, now in Event Viewer, Security, Category, has (4), (2), not descriptions.

How can I change this back up a description like "Logon/Logoff" instead of (4)?

Thanks

Every time I boot my laptop I get error message Event ID 11 in Event Viewer. The details are:

Custom dynamic link libraries are being loaded for every application. The system administrator should review the list of libraries to ensure they are related to trusted applications.

This is listed under AppInit_DLLs in the registry and the dll being loaded is nvinitx.dll, from what I can find out this has to do with the optimus function on my laptop and having it loaded is okay. I just want to get rid of the error message being logged everytime I boot.

A:Event Viewer Error Message Event ID11 - How do I get rid of this to?

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get rid of this error message in Event Viewer?

Every time I boot my laptop I get error message Event ID 10 in Event Viewer. The details are:

Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor"AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage > 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected.

I do believe that the error message is nothing to be concerned about from what I have read when I googled it, but nothing I read tells you how to get rid of it. Does anone know how I can get rid of this so it does not show up in event viewer everytime I boot?

Hope it helps with your problem.

Event ID 10 is logged in the Application log after you install Service Pack 1 for Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2

If there is an Event Viewer category that records each time I reset my CMOS settings in my BIOS setup as I log in, I don't know what to call it. Perhaps it makes no sense to look for it as a Windows event since it happens before the operating system is loaded.

I'm troubleshooting and I'd like to know the system clock time for a reset I may have done on 5/21/14. I have a digital photo of a reset screen with a BIOS time reading of 16:35:18. I'd like to know if I ran one more reset in the previous 5 minutes. Is there a system record of this somewhere?

thanks,

baumgrenze

You are correct... there will not be a BIOS reset entry in the OS logs.

Look around in the BIOS interface for BIOS logs.

Kernel-Power Event ID:41 indicates to abnormal shutdown ... it may be caused by various reasons. If you post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions, it may give us some more hint about what actually is going on there.

Here are the 2 DMP files from the 2 BSOD's you have had.

The first one BugCheck A The error that generates this bug check usually occurs after the installation of a faulty device driver, system service, or BIOS.

The Second One Bugcheck 0x50 Bug check 0x50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM).

As Both of these can be caused by Drivers i would like you to try this before we try anything else:

   Information
Driver Verifier runs in the background, "testing" drivers for bugs. If it finds one, a Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) will result; the corresponding dump file will hopefully show the faulty driver.

Your Anti-Virus is known for causing Blue screen of death issues on Windows 7.
I recommend you change your Anti-Virus and see if the problem still persists.

Hello.

Everytime I play a demanding game, like Dark Souls 3, I have a shutdown and this error in the event log

Quote:

This never happened before and never had drastic changes in the system to make this happen right now.

The games I play runs well, so it's not performance issue, but I think it can be a power source problem and would like to be clear about it.

I appreciate any help.

Hi packman888,

Your crash dumps are not showing any finite probable cause.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors.
How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest for at least 8 passes, preferably overnight.

If memtest comes free from errors, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers.
Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Description of observations and symptoms:
As evident in the attached information, the system crashes at apparently random instances without any particular software or user trigger. This system stays on 24/7 without any sleep mode atm (initially it was enabled and I turned it off to see if bsods are related to it or not). According to my observation, this bsod happens mainly after a long period of user-inactivity, while some windows and applications such as various browsers and chat clients are left open. the very last one (ref'd in title) seems different than the other ones in its bugcheck info. I tried to launch Skype and it kept giving me an error asking to find solution online or close the porgram. Tried that over maybe 2 minutes for a few times with same results and bam, hard disk activity went up, and BSOD!

Now, mind you, this has happened similarly a few times before, and each time, swapping around the HDD & SDD connections on the mobo (within the provided 4 SATA6gb/s ports) seems to fix the problem. But, If i just restart from bsod without swapping those sataIII connections, the system will not recognize a boot device while it does recognize one of the disks.

I have not sadly been able to document my own work around of port swaps as each time this happened I was in a rush and did not have time to record all of that and just wanted to get it back to work. i know thats my mistake.

So, I have no suspect. No real clue as to what could be causing this and have exhausted google results without success. this keeps happening at random intervals and It is causing grave anxiety for me for loss of various important data (yeah, i game on this pc, no OC, yet i also have a whole bunch of my work and personal data on it as well, its not "just" a gaming pc at all).

all drivers and firmwares on this computer are up to date as of august 2011. system was purchased brand new in aug 2011 and I verified the driver updates after deploying windows.

Also, on one of these prior bsod instances, it happened immediately after I attempted to set the pagefile location to the hdd to open up 15gb on the ssd (which never even happened as it crashed on that click in the related settings window) I believe that was the 2nd bsod, not sure.

Any and all help is appreciated. I have also attached a few screen shots and posted a brief youtube video of what I consider weird and unwarranted constant activity of HDD LED on the case. now, I have never owned an SSD before and am not sure if it relates to that or not. But I'm sure as hell with indexing off and minimal apps running, this very diciplined blinking is not okay for a hard drive. I can't even tell if this LED is related to the hdd or the ssd. nonetheless ssd is boot device and when it does work, it works flawlessly and super fast.

NOTE: I attempted to do this whole post after the last bsod prior to the one ref'd in the sbj line above, but I could not complete it and eventually i let it slide. Thus I have included a folder which I believe was created by the forum-provided tool as well along with the named folder and html file for the latest instance. maybe it helps. maybe it wont. dont hate me for it (:

I've got like a two-months old Windows system and 138 Ntfs (Ntfs) log event System event in error I've been trying to keep an eye on the event logs to see if there's any error events I need to try to get fixed Today I spotted the first one that really Ntfs (Ntfs) error event 138 in System event log concerns me In the System events log there's an Error type event with id number from source quot Ntfs Ntfs quot Unfortunately my Windows is not English language so I'm not really sure about what the error message would exactly be in English but I'd translate it something like this from the original Finnish quot Events resource manager encountered a serious error in target C It was shut down The data contains the error code quot I googled around and I think I found the English version of that event or at least something that sounds suspiciously the same and it is this quot The transaction resource manager at C encountered a fatal error and was shut down The data contains the error code quot Immediately after this error event there's a warning event from the same source of quot Ntfs Ntfs quot and that event probably says this quot The transaction resource manager on volume C encountered an error during recovery The resource manager will continue recovery quot These events appear to have happened during one of those many times the system is idle for a few minutes and starts doing some quot maintenance quot on its own in the background There's only one each of these error warnings in the log so far I checked with a filter and there haven't been other errors like these ever on this system My question What is this error event and should I be concerned it means my hard drive has decided to start falling apart It's a new drive WD Black and I haven't spotted any other signs of failure yet If I open the C drive's properties in Explorer and use the error-checking tool thing it runs quickly and says there are no errors on the drive I'd appreciate any help Hardware problems are scary Dealing with software I can mostly manage but when things physically break it's a little much for me

A:Ntfs (Ntfs) error event 138 in System event log

Update:

What better way to spend my time than fixing unwanted computer trouble, no?

I downloaded Western Digital's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic for Windows and ran a Quick Test on the drive in question, it passed just fine. I'll try running an extended test later when I have more time.

Meanwhile, I also ran sfc /scannow, which I've done before on this system without issues, but what do you know, this time it came back with "Windows Resource Protection found corrupt files but was unable to fix some of them". I love how these problems can just come out of nowhere. But I like it even better that if I hadn't peeked around in the event log, I wouldn't know anything about this. Windows reminds me every day with a nice popup if I haven't yet downloaded the latest Windows Defender definitions from Windows Update, but when something like this happens, I have to go digging through event logs and command prompts to find out there's a problem. Augh.

So, I of course checked the CBS.log file that the sfc command's result referenced. And of course, it's enormous, with like a million lines of text. It'll take me a good while to make any sense of it, but even a quick glance reveals a lot of stuff like this:

2015-08-24 22:43:54, Info CSI 000000f3 [DIRSD OWNER WARNING] Directory [ml:520{260},l:92{46}]"\??\C:\Windows\Help\Windows\ContentStore\en-US" is not owned but specifies SDDL in component Microsoft-Windows-Assistance-CollectionFiles-Help.Resources, pA = PROCESSOR_ARCHITECTURE_AMD64 (9), Culture = [l:10{5}]"en-US", VersionScope = 1 nonSxS, PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:31bf3856ad364e35}, Type neutral, TypeName neutral, PublicKey neutral

Do I understand any of that? Of course not.
Then, this stuff caught my eye near the end of the enormous log:
