BSOD message: partmgr.sys

Q: BSOD message: partmgr.sys

Hello,

I have a Dell Inspiron 8600 laptop. At the moment, I have no OS running, as I am trying to reformat my computer. In doing so, I received the BSOD message: partmgr.sys - Address F87C04AB base at F87BE000.

Do I need a new hard drive?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What Windows CD version are you using to boot with and did you set the CD as the first boot device? I could be wrong but maybe you aren't booting correctly.

A:Partmgr.sys Error

have you tried starting in safe mode, press f8 as computer starts up.

partmgr.sys is a windows file that affects partitions so if it is corrupted your computer may not be able to read the boot partition.

When you tried to reinstall windows from cd, did it boot to cd or continue on to the windows screen. If it did not boot with the disk, then go into system bios and change boot order to have cd drive ahead of hard drive.

Hello I am having a few problems mostly about not being able to start up my desktop Gateway PC part of this has been going on for awhile which I overcame but the other day we had a brownout and my pc went off and will not start up again Okay it is in safe mode and we did some troubleshooting I tried restarting the computer by setting it for an earlier date when it was functioning but that failed to screen other and blue problems... Can't say partmgr.sys Startup help eventually got to the blue screen that says that it is probably the partmgr sys file causing the problem which there is not way to get to to remove or is there a way to fix or remove this The only disk I seem to have is a restore DVD Will that work and will I not lose anything from my hd Not sure what to do here A while back I could not remove trademanager software which is like a voice client Can't Startup blue screen say partmgr.sys and other problems... from my computer It would not uninstall so I emailed to China and was told to reinstall the software so that the program would be there Can't Startup blue screen say partmgr.sys and other problems... to uninstall it through weeks of writing back and forth I still cannot get trademanager out of my computer and it was affecting my startup so I disabled it and was able to start up okay from safemode for several months Is there a way to get it out of my computer for good I Can't Startup blue screen say partmgr.sys and other problems... was going to do a system restore several months ago and tried to back up my hd prior to that but evidentally the computer will not read the CDs I have in order to copy the info onto them I would appreciate any information regarding getting my computer restarted we have computers in the house and it is my main pc Lastly my pc laptop mic does not work and it is a Dell inspiron I have tested it and it does not pass a mic test or record anything I do receive audio however from CDs and computer sounds I suspect I need to reinstall the audio driver but do not know how to do that It has never worked even from the time it was brand new and of course I have a bunch of audios I need to make Can someone tell me how to fix this Another thing is that the volume control has only sections showing up wave SW synth volume control and CD player and I now there should be more sections that is another reason I suspect it needs a new driver Thanks again for any help you can offer Rachel

A:Can't Startup blue screen say partmgr.sys and other problems...

Hi Rachel, welcome to TSF..

by brownout, do you mean power cut or something similar? If so, there is a chance your hard drive has become damaged. I would advise downloading the manafacturer's diagnostic utility so you can test the integrity of the drive. You should be able to download a iso/image file which you can burn to cd and then boot your computer from the disc.

In answer to your question about the restore disc, that may fix the problem is the partition table has been corrupt but you'd also lose all the data you have on the drive...it will in effect, restore it back to day 1.

Removing trademanager shouldn't be a huge problem once we get your system working again...we'll cross that bridge later

We regards to the mic issue, it's probably set to mute in the volume control...and it's usually hiding so you have to go into File -> Properties and ensure it is selected in there. Can't remember if that is the exact steps as i'm using Vista at the mo but have a dig around and if you can't find it, i'll give more precise instructions later but I don't think it's a missing driver issue at this stage as the new hardware wizard would usually pop up.

Hope that helps

A:boot critical partmgr.sys windows not working please help

You can make a repair disc on another Windows 7 computer with 32 or 64 bit version matching the one you're working on.  Go to Start -> Control Panel -> Backup and restore -> Create system repair disc.  Insert a blank CD-R and it will make it.  Then take the repair disc, boot from it, and do the repair.
I assumed Windows 7 for this since you didn't say.

Good luck.

A:PartMgr and PCIIde entries w/ yellow exclamation marks in Device Mgr

Update: someone on another board suggested that at least with the PCIIde entry it maybe had something to do with my system's chipset and said to try downloading the Intel chipset software utility that will update drivers.
I went ahead and downloaded & installed the Intel Chipset software utility for my Intel 845G chipset- before I did I created a System Restore point. From what I gather the utility will update drivers that need it. After restarting the system I checked Device Mgr. and the entry PCIIde that had had a yellow exclamation mark was completely gone from the Non-plug and play drivers sub-heading. The entry PartMgr is just like before with a yellow exclamation mark and Code 24.

Okay I don't know exactly what that means about the PCIIde entry disappearing! Whether that's good or bad or what? Obviously the PartMgr is still there so I'm still left with questions. Any thoughts about this? Thanks.
I reverted the system back to its previous state with System Restore to undo the changes.

So no BSOD is appearing? There is no crash dump recorded, too. That makes it sense that you are not having a BSOD issue, but random shutdown. Which may be caused by anything and everything.

First make it sure that there is no problem with the power connection and power chords.

Next make it sure that the PSU is working properly.

Next, monitor the temperature. Publish a Speccy snapshot after a couple of hours of normal usage: Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs .

If all is OK upto this point, the next thing to do is a complete dismantle, dusting and re-seating the computer.

Do upto this point. Report back the situation. If nothing is changed then more steps will be needed.

Terminating thread due to a stack overflow problem. A VxD, possibly recently installed, has consumed too much stack space. Increase the setting of 'MinSPs' in SYSTEM. INI or remove recently installed VxD's. There are currently 5 SPs allocated.

What happened here and how do you fix it?

Thanks!

Hi. I just recieved a BSoD, and it's the second one I got that looks like this I believe.

It has no message like at the top like BSoD's tend to have.

I run windows 7 ultimate x64.

Please help me out so I can solve this!
PS! I believe my previous BSoD's are also in the Windows_NT6_BSOD_jcgriff2 But you can only check the most recent one to help me solve my problem. Thank you!
Appreciate everything!
Thanks in advance.

A:BSoD with no message, please help!

Hi Nikkoelite. I have looked at your four dumps. Each shows a different bugcheck code which usually means a hardware/hardware related problem. All four dumps indicate memory corruption.

Your version of Eset is a known cause of BSOD's on some Win 7 systems. I recommend that you uninstall Eset completely using this removal tool: Tool. Once you know your system is stable you can try Eset again; but install the latest version. It seems to run well with Win 7. In the meantime, download and install Microsoft Security Essentials until you get your system stable.

Outdated drivers can and do cause conflicts, memory corruption and BSOD's. I find the following outdated drivers loaded on your system. One is quite obsolete; it is an XP driver. Update these drivers through the links provided or uninstall the software they are associated with.

Quote:
gdrv.sys Thu Mar 12 23:22:29 2009 - Gigabyte Easy Saver - mobo power utility driver. GIGABYTE - Support & Downloads - Downloads - Motherboard. Uninstall EasySaver.

GVTDrv64.sys 2006-09-05 - GVTDrv64, Gigabyte EasyTune6 driver (known issues w/Win7). http://www.gigabyte.us/Support/Mothe...lity_List.aspx. Uninstall EasyTune.

Rt64win7.sys Thu Feb 26 04:04:13 2009 - Realtek RTL8168D/8111D Family PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet NIC. Realtek.

I also found another driver as an unloaded module. I could not determine the date for this driver: AODDriver.sys - AMD Overdrive; also in EasyTune6 for Gigabyte motherboard. Drivers & Support | GAME.AMD.COM. I suspect it is part of EasyTune.

Uninstall Eset, EasyTune, and EasySaver. Update the Realtek driver. Reboot and see if your system is more stable. Please post back and let us know. If you get another BSOD, upload it and we will go from there.

I have an HP G50 laptop and when I turn on my computer it stays and freezes in a complete solid blue screen with no message. For a nano second, there is only a black box message saying ''svg.dll'' and that's it. I tried the ''Disable Automatic Restart on System Failure'' to see the message but it doesn't work. I also tried Safe Mode but it also doesn't work. Can someone help me, please?????

So to sum up, got the random restarting about a month ago. Noticed 2 fans were not working, so replaced them (case and heatsink). Still got the restarts. I got pretty much every BSOD message possible, so had no clue how to pin it down (tcip.sys, memory mismatch, irq not equal..., page in nonpaged, win32k.sys, etc). Ran memtest86 once (3 rounds), no probs. Ran it again (3 rounds), found an error. Ran it again at a later time, (one round) found 775,786 errors and came back later to see my screen black. It rebooted ok. Is it safe to say my ram is dead and needs to be replaced? All drivers updated on everything. Custom built pc (about 5 years old) Running 32 bit xp sp3, geforce 7600 gt, AMD dual core 2.something Gh.
I have all my info written, just not w/ me at the moment. Thanks for your responses.

A:Every BSOD message under the sun....

Yes, you are certainly experiencing a major hardware issue here. Whether it's the RAM itself or some other component I'm not sure. You will have to start doing hardware swapping at the moment.

The CPU fan not working in the past may have allowed the CPU's health to degenerate and now it is actually starting to die off altogether, so do keep that in mind as a possibility.

Hello and Welcome to SF !

Seems like the dumps are pointing to System file. But we have to run some test to conform see what's happening. Follow this article Hardware Diagnostic | Captain Debugger

Uninstall Symatec / Norton completely and use the Removal Tool and clear the left over files. Then install Microsoft Security Essentials as a replacement.

Download Malwarebytes and reboot in Safe Mode and run a complete scan.

Hi wgriffin1962.

Your BSODs are USB related.

For updating Intel IHCI, update the BIOS and Chipset:
Intel? Chipset Device Software
BIOS Update [CR94510J.86A ]
You need to update the VIA EHCI, too.

Which Keyboard/Mouse you are using? It appears that some problems are with them, too.

Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :
Download and execute Driverview
View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
Edit > Select all
File > Save Selected Items
In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
Zip the .txt file and upload it.
Let us know the results.

A:BSOD Error Message

I think you need to find and borrow an XP bootable CD matching your existing operating system to do the following I found at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/297185/en-us concerning your disk problems - read the page b4 you do anything and if you feel it's out of your comfort zone, take it to somebody qualified in your area of the world.

If this is the case, restart the computer to the Recovery Console, and then use the chkdsk /r command to repair the volume. After you repair the volume, check your hardware to isolate the cause of the file system damage.

To do this, follow these steps: 1. Start your computer by using the Windows startup disks, or with the Windows installation disk if your computer can start from the CD drive.
2. When the Welcome to Setup screen appears, press R to select the repair option.
3. If you have a dual-boot or multiple-boot computer, select the Windows installation that you want to access from the Recovery Console.
4. Type the administrator password when you are prompted to do this.

Note If no administrator password exists, press ENTER.
5. At the command prompt, on the drive where Windows is installed, type chkdsk /r, and then press ENTER.
6. At the command prompt, type exit, and then press ENTER to restart your computer.
If this procedure does not work, repeat it and use the fixboot command in step 5 instead of the chkdsk /r command.

Hello dear de-buggers.

I just encountered a Blue Screen without any message.

I got chocked of course, and then I smelt the smell of something burning. I got scared as hell and started to approach my computer and sniffin it.
I then screamed "MOM, ARE YOU MAKING POPCORNS?!", and she replied "Yes, Do you want some?" and then I got reliefed so nothing has burnt! (meaningless information btw hehe).

Anyways, would you please help me discover what happened?
Ive uploaded everything necessary.

I just got myself a new SSD, In which I installed clean Windows and Drivers for GPU, so they're not old.

Thanks in advance!

Windows 7 Ultimate x64

A:BSoD Without Message! Help appreciated.

So, was the popcorn burnt? I don't like burnt popcorn!

The perfmon report shows that your USB controllers don't have drivers installed:

Quote:
Error
Symptom:[IMG]res://wdc.dll/error.gif[/IMG]
Device drivers are not installed.Cause:A driver has not been installed for this device preventing it from working properly.Details:The device driver for Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controller has not been installed. This device will not be available until the correct device driver is installed.Resolution:1. Try installing the drivers using Windows Update.
2. Install the drivers that are on the installation media that came with the device.
3. Check with the manufacturer for an updated driver.Related:Explanation of Error Codes Generated by Device Manager

Please visit the PC Manufacturer's website to get drivers. You're looking for the chipset drivers in addition to any USB drivers that might be offered.

Here's the link: GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3 - GA-870A-UD3 (rev. 2.0)
Choose your OS in the dropdown box, then download the chipset and USB drivers and install them.

Go to the PC Manufacturer's website and update all of your drivers
Then visit Windows Update and get all available Windows Updates
Then get Service Pack 1 (it should be listed under Important Updates)
Then get any further available Windows Updates.

The one memory dump doesn't reveal much. Don't use any disk/system cleaners (they delete any memory dumps - which we need). Try the above steps and post back if the BSOD's continue.

I came home to find my laptop feeling warmer than normal when I picked it up. I get the Blue Screen of Death with no error message. I have unplugged it, taken the battery out, etc. It is completely cool, and will not come back up. The computer is only 1 year old. They had to install a new hard drive in it while it was still under warranty, but warranty is expired now. I am computer illiterate. Can someone help me, please? Thanks very much!!

Heya folks. It's been over 3 years since I've come here last. I'm back with my hat in hand in need of help.
I came home Sunday after a long, generally crappy day @ the cube farm (new plantation), went to fire up my relief valve for a couple hours of mindless villain bashing on CoH. all was good for a moment...logged on fine, program start menu came up. I walked away for a minute and when I came back - BSOD.
The general stop message came up - Windows has encountered an problem...etc, etc. The code was as follows:

0X0000007E (0X0000005, 0X8052ABCC, OXF7AAD0D4, 0XF7AACDD0)

I managed to boot up in safe mode and executed a system restore, rolling back to 8/24/07 - no joy. I'm hoping to get some guidance here....anyone?

Greetings:

Over the past couple of weeks I started receiving the captioned on a frequent basis. I have attached the files per the BSOD Posting Instructions page and would appreciate someone taking the time to review the files and see if they can give me any idea as to the issue. Since this issue started, I have installed no new hardware.

If I can provide any additional information please let me know.

Your other dump does not provide a specific reason, its just blaming windows files.
(Which is not a true cause)So uninstall McAfee (Its' known as a cause to bsods)
and see if stability returns. If not, we'll do more troubleshooting.

Thanks

You can also reinstall your graphics drivers:

Thanks to FredeGail for the instruction.

Different culprits pointed towards your NVIDIA Graphics Driver. Driver Sweeper will ensure that you'd have a clean install at the end of the procedure, and by that no leftover files that'd bork the system.

NVIDIA
Make your way to Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers and download the latest driver for your card, save it to your desktop for instance
Uninstall the Graphic driver you currently have and all its extensions (do not reboot yet)
Download Driver Sweeper
Get to safe mode (without network) and search for Driver Sweeper in your START
Select all the NVIDIAcomponents and analyse them
Clean them, head into Windows without internet and install the driver you've downloaded previously

Then run a video stress with furmark:

A:BSOD Error Message....Help please

It is basically telling you that the driver USBOHCI.sys is causing the error. If that driver is for the external modem, then you should try to get newer drivers from the manufacturer for that modem. You can search on MS's site for a description of the BSOD stop codes, but it will tell you what the screen already has. The full memory.dmp file would help MS determine the exact error, but that would cost for a Premier Support call. There is a utility in the support tools called dumpchk.exe that will create a readable(?) output of the dump. I use the -e -v switches with that utility and redirect to a .txt file. It provides more than I can decipher, but it does verify the file responsible for the crash.

Hope this helps!

A:What does this BSOD error message mean?

Usually it means you have a hardware or driver conflict. In your case, if you know it is your modem, see if there is a driver update for it.

Then once its up an running again it will restart again....then other times it works fine. I notice that everytime I log on my McAfee antivirus will have been disabled and I'll have to go thru and enable everything again.

Please help! On start up, I keep getting the BSOD with an error message that I just cannot seem to find any information on, let alone the troubleshoot. The error message is as follows:

*** STOP: 0X0000001E (0XFFFFFFFFC0000006, 0XFFFFFA800041F3BB0, 0X0000000000000000, 0X00000000FFFA1000)

I've disabled it from shutting down after crash, that's the only way I was able to see it. I've tried restarting in safe mode; no success. I cannot move past this screen at all (I've been forced to send this from my phone!)

I have the Windows reboot disk, I cannot even start from the disc.

My system is a Dell Inspiron, 64 bit Windows 7

A:BSOD Error message I've never seen

A few suggestions:Run a Repair Install three separate time. It should fix your current version and Windows 7 but preserve your data, programs, user accounts etc.

Run an sfc/scannow command in command prompt at boot. If errors are found, run it twice more with each scan followed by a reboot.
SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot

Run a Repair Install. It should fix your current version and Windows 7 but preserve your data, programs, user accounts etc.

A:BSOD Message. Need help to determine why. Thanks.

Ok, when a blue screen of death or kernel panic accures it means that there might be a hardware problem. Simetimes it's because of a recent hardware change. Most BSOD are happening because of CPU overheating( you might take a look over the temperatures in hw monitor ). What I suggest to do is check event viwer and look for the error message you encounter and try google it

I have been getting BSOD and a message when i restart the computer saying: "The file may be corrupt. The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum."

I am able to reboot after removing the RAM and replacing it so I was guessing it might be a memory issue. I posted the zipped file.

Windows 7, installed after Windows vista about a year ago. Downloaded it from Microsoft so Full Retail. Hardware is roughly 3 and a half years old.

I read the instructions on what to post when asking for help with blue screen but unfortunately my computer doesnt stay normal long enough for me to run all that stuff. I have attached pictures of the different blue screen errors i get.Like i said computer starts and i get to put in my password and maybe works for 5 mins and i get kicked off and blue screen comes on.

I have a Dell Latitude D630 running Vista Business its about 3years old and when i first got the blue screen i opted for re installing my OS using my recovery disc so the laptop is basically back to how it came.

I have heard different solutions but i dont know what to go for do i need to replace my MemoryRam or my hard drive.

A:Different Error Message BSOD

STOP 0x0000001A: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT Usual causes: Device driver, memory, kernel
<H4>STOP 0x000000C2: BAD_POOL_CALLERUsual causes: Device driver, ?Memory

Without those reports, there is very little that I can do. That being said, I was able to see C2 and 1A, if you have others let me know. Your eyes are probably better than mine.

In any event what we have indicates memory or driver. I think its memory, since you used the recovery DVD and still have the problem.

I cant give you a memory test or any other test since your computer will not allow it.

See how it runs in safe mode, maybe we can work from there.

My machine hasn't been shutting down properly. It's been attempting to shutdown but ends up displaying a BSOD dump that seems to be related to USB drivers and then it restarts.

I noticed in another thread that seeing the minidump information might be helpful in finding the problem, so I've attached a zip file that I hope will help.

Computer info:
Dell Inspiron 570
Windows 7 Home Premium (SP-1)
3.00 GHz Processor

64-bit System

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks....

A:BSOD with BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER message

Hi cadd2813.

In this situation, only crash dumps are not sufficient. Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions. Al least upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.
Also, upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :
Download and execute Driverview
View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
Edit > Select all
File > Save Selected Items
In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
Zip the .txt file and upload it.
These will help us to go deeper that the "probably caused by: usbhub.sys" pointed by the crash dumps.

Hi...

Ive run in to a problem , 2 times now over 4 days I have had this blue screen

driver_corrupted_mmpool is the error followed by a Stop Code, I have searched the net and I beleive its a corrupt driver. google leads me to a program called verifier.exe . but to be honest I have no idea what Im trying to do...

My System :-

AMD 64 4600 x2 "Socket 939" this was new today.
2 x XFX 7800 GTX Extreme
2 Gigs of OCZ Platinum DDR 400
Asus A8N SLI Premium..
Windows XP home

If I dont solve the issue then I can only assume Formatting will..

Any ideas Ladies / Gents ?
Oh I forgot , Ive added this to the Registr "ProtectNonPagedPool Dword 1"

A:BSOD message . driver_corrupted_mmpool

I would suggest going to Control Panel and checking all of the devices and look for an open one (Has a minus sign to the left) and then reinstall the driver for this one or any other ones especially if this is from a new hardware device you just installed.

64bit Windows, original installation, OEM, age of machine < 1 year, have not reinstalled the OS. I've been having frequent BSOD problems lately. I've already tried updating my graphics card driver, BIOS, running chkdsk multiple times, running a virusscan and malware scan, and memtest. Chkdsk usually finds and fixes some corrupt values/clusters after a crash, but it does not stop the problem from reoccurring. The BSOD message mentions a "kernel_inpage_error", and the most recent crash named the ntfs.sys file.

A:Frequent BSOD with 0x0000007A message

It is possible your problems are a result of:
Code:
Start Menu\Programs\AVG PC Tuneup 2011 Public:Start Menu\Programs\AVG PC Tuneup 2011 Public
which would require a clean install of Windows 7 after backing up important data.

Many of us on the forums actually do not recommend automated optimization tools for Windows 7. Windows 7 does a much better job of handling its own optimization than its predecessors did. We especially do not recommend registry cleaning as an "optimization" step because automated registry cleaning causes more harm to the registry than it actually repairs.

In the future, if you need help optimizing Windows 7, please post a thread in Performance & Maintenance - Windows 7 Forums or follow the tutorial enclosed in that forum to Optimize Windows 7.
We can check for other causes of your crashes first, but keep in mind that you may need to do a fresh install to resolve your problems.

You've already done some of the steps, but if you have not done them as they are listed below, please do them again. For instance, if you did not run Memtest86+ for seven passes or more, please run Memtest86+ for seven passes or more.

Your crashes primarily indicate hard disk problems. This could mean hard disk corruption, bad sectors, a failing hard disk, Windows files or registry corruption, viruses, or memory problems. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Run Disk Check with both boxes checked for all HDDs and with Automatically fix file system errors checked for all SSDs. Post back your logs for the checks after finding them using Check Disk (chkdsk) - Read Event Viewer Log (you may need to search for wininit instead of chkdsk).
For any drives that do not give the message:
Windows has checked the file system and found no problems
run disk check again as above. In other words, if it says:
Windows has made corrections to the file system
after running the disk check, run the disk check again.

Run the short and long tests with SeaTools.SeaTools for Windows

SeaTools for DOS
Check Windows for corruption. Run SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker up to three times to fix all errors with a restart in between each. Post back if it continues to show errors after a fourth run or if the first run comes back with no integrity violations. Use OPTION THREE of SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker to provide us with the sfcdetails.txt file if errors occur.

Download and install Malwarebytes, update it, do not start the free trial, and then run a full scan. Also run a full scan with your antivirus software installed on your system. If you do not have antivirus software installed, see the Good and Free system security combination. for better security steps and scanning tools. Make sure to update the security software before running the full scan.

Run the boot version of Memtest86+ paying close attention to Parts 2 and 3 of the tutorial. Also, in case Memtest86+ misses anything and comes up with no errors, run the extended version of the Windows Memory Diagnostics Tool for at least five passes. These you may want to run overnight since they take a long time to complete (run them an hour before bed each of the next two nights and check before going to sleep that they are still running).

Before you proceed with the following, answer these two questions: Are you still under warranty? Does your warranty allow you to open up the machine to check hardware? If you are unsure of the answers to these questions, contact your system manufacturer. WARNING: The steps that follow can void your warranty!!!

For Part 3: If You Have Errors: If you swap any memory components, follow these steps for ESD safety:Shut down and turn off your computer.
Unplug all power supplies to the computer (AC Power then battery for laptops, AC power for desktops)
Hold down the power button for 30 seconds to close the circuit and ensure all power drains from components.

My computer's been crashing every couple days since about December (based on the dump file dates). Yeah, I've kind of been ignoring it for way too long. I haven't seen the BSOD message every time, but when I have it's always been 'USB_BUGCODE_DRIVER'. The specific errors have varied a bit - the most recent two were 0xDEADDEAD and 0x000000FE.

My computer does generally seem to have some trouble staying connected to things plugged in via USB (mostly my phone and a USB mouse), but some of the BSOD episodes have occurred when nothing was plugged in as well. Any help would be much appreciated.

ETA: Driverview and MSINFO32 files attached.

A:BSOD every few days, message USB_BUGCODE_DRIVER

Hi Agmine.

Upload the list of all the third party drivers Using NirSoft DriverView :
Download and execute Driverview
View > Hide Microsoft Drivers
Edit > Select all
File > Save Selected Items
In the Save dialog, Set the path to desktop, Put "Driverview" in the name field, and save.
Zip the .txt file and upload it.
Also upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
We need to see these two files.

Hello everyone I am newly registered on SevenForums but have used the website over the years to help with various BSOD NOT with OR EQUAL' LESS message 'IRQL issues This is the first time I haven't been able to fix an issue by reading through the forums however hence my first thread and I hope that you can help me out My computer has recently been experiencing BSOD usually within a couple of minutes of booting up and in other cases locking up BSOD with message 'IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL' As it was approaching years since I built my system I thought I could possibly fix the problem by formatting and reinstalling windows I did this yesterday successfully and applied all windows updates and applicable drivers etc Upon BSOD with message 'IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL' turning on my PC today however I have experienced a BSOD akin to those before the format as follows quot IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL quot I am aware that the issue most BSOD with message 'IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL' likely lies with a driver but I am unsure of how to pinpoint the driver in question or diagnose the issue further As advised I have used DM Logger and uploaded the Debug zip created using that application and I hope that will be enough information for someone to help me remedy this frustrating issue Many thanks in advance

A:BSOD with message 'IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL'

You need to update the network driver. It is too old, and so causing BSOD.

Download and install Win7 and Server 2008 R2 Auto Installation Program (the third item of the list) from http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

Let us know the result.

We purchased a refurbished computer from Dell 10 months ago. (bad move?) We've been getting seemingly random BSOD errors every few days. Can't single out any one program the seems to cause the crash.

Did a complete fresh windows install a while back, and ran all the Dell diagnostic and memory tests including mem test 86 with no errors. Not sure if this would be a clue or not, but it seems after the machine reboots from a crash, at times, there has been an Adobe update message on the screen.

We would certainly appreciate if someone would be kind enough to help us diagnose this perplexing problem.

A:BSOD - Different error message each instance!

Hi gyeager.

How long you ran the memtest? It needs to run for at least 8 passes to get a satisfactory result; and there is a possibility of memory corruption.

Upload your MSINFO32.nfo file, as the attached one is not working.
In the mean time, update intel management engine, Wireless network, and scan the system for possible virus infection with the following programs.
Anti-rootkit utility TDSSKiller
Windows Defender Offline
The intention of these two scans are to search for BIOS rootkit which remains even after a clean installation.

What is the adobe update? Flash player or anything else? If you update it, the message will not occur anymore I guess.

Let us know the results.

Basic config : MB Asus P5Q3 ? SATA3 disks ? 4GB RAM

Have been running dual boot Windows XP-SP3 and Windows 7 - 32bits for years on this system I built from scratch.

A few days ago, I got a 7B message in a BSOD when booting under XP. Tried several times. Same result with Safe Mode and ?Last good configuration?.

On the other hand, no problem at all with Windows 7. Runs like a charm.

Ran antivirus. Found nothing. BurnIn Test shows nothing wrong.

Used the XP Installation CD (with F6 option for the ICH10 drivers). Installation goes on and when it gets to the end of the loading of files, it displays a BSOD with the 0xc000000e.

Fell back on a cloned system disk, 2 months old: same result with the 7B message in a BSOD.

Any idea on what could be wrong?

A:odd 7B message with BSOD on dual boot

7b is a inaccessible boot device error, did you by chance change the sata controller mode from AHCI to IDE or from IDE to AHCI in the bios?

Is the XP install and the Win 7 install on the same disk or 2 different ones?

I just built a new computer but used the video card with my old system and received BSOD often,

When I get home from work or in the morning I notice that the computer needs me to log in, and then see the message that the system recovered.

I have installed the OS brand new after a week of this. Installing only the drivers for chipset, lan and video.

I did purchase the graphics card open box from newegg.

I would really appreciate some deciphering of these BSOD codes. I uploaded the complete zip file

Thanks in advance.

A:BSOD happens over night. get the message when I wake up.

There are multiple different bugchecks during the week, pointing to various things including memory corruption.

Test your RAM modules for possible errors. How to Test and Diagnose RAM Issues with Memtest86+
Run memtest86+ for at least 8 consecutive passes.

If it start showing errors/red lines, stop testing. A single error is enough to determine that something is going bad there.

If it does not show any error, enable Driver Verifier to monitor the drivers. Driver Verifier - Enable and Disable
Run Driver Verifier for 24 hours or the occurrence of the next crash, whichever is earlier.

   Information
Why Driver Verifier:
It puts a stress on the drivers, ans so it makes the unstable drivers crash. Hopefully the driver that crashes is recorded in the memory dump.

How Can we know that DV is enabled:
It will make the system bit of slow, laggy.

   Warning
Before enabling DV, make it sure that you have earlier System restore points made in your computer. You can check it easily by using CCleaner looking at Tools > System Restore.

If there is no points, make a System Restore Point manually before enabling DV.

   Tip

If you fail to get on the Desktop because of DV, Boot into Advanced Boot Options > Safe mode. Disable DV there. Now boot normally again, and try following the instruction of enabling DV again.
If you cannot boot in Safe mode too, do a System Restore to a point you made earlier.

Let us know the results, with the subsequent crash dumps, if any.

Hi I am a Windows user who is NOT techie When I cold-boot the computer not resume or anything like that sometimes not all the time the startup is interrupted with this blue screen I just message BSOD with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL startup on learned in trying to research this that it's ominously called quot The Blue Screen of Death quot yuck After it takes a dump giggling I am referred to two choices I can either launch start up repair or start normally I always try to start normally and it will maybe of the time start normally The other of the time the BSOD appears and I have to witness this dump and then I get my two choices Once or twice when I have launched start-up repair I have been successful Other times I get that nasty message that it didn't work Then I have to resort to system restore which only works some of the time Eventually after about an hour of going back and forth and begging encouraging the computer to start up I don't know how helpful my begging and encouraging BSOD on startup with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL message are but it really hasn't BSOD on startup with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL message hurt so I keep doing it the computer will indeed start normally and I never have to have the problem again until I reboot the machine Then I'm about just a guess on my part likely to have a recurrence of the problem Can anyone tell me step-by-step 'cause I'm good at following detailed instructions how I can troubleshoot and resolve this issue What additional information do you need if any I can't thank you enough for being here and being willing to help me get through this If I had the I'd just bring the computer to someone and tell 'em to fix it But I'm not in that position right at this moment and it's my work computer So thanks again With kindest regards and deepest gratitude Marji

A:BSOD on startup with IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL message

Hey Marji and welcome

First you may wan't to follow this guide http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...d-problem.html

When you get a blue screen, windows creates a file which can tell you the cause of the problem, so if you could follow that guide and upload the file that would be great

My PC is a standard Dell XPS 435T as shipped 5 years ago (July 2009).  I installed the Sapphire R9 270 GPU a few weeks ago.  Since then (but never before) I have been getting a BSoD error message: PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA error.

I looked at this link:

http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff559023(v=vs.85).aspx

Cause
Bug check 0x50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM).
Another common cause is the installation of a faulty system service.
Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS volume.

What should I do next?

Hello-- I do not currently have an infected PC but am wondering for future reference if there is a way to save the error message I see on the BSOD. Last time I had a problem with it the error message would display for a few seconds and then the system would shutdown not giving me enough time to read the message. Is there a way to save the message before the system shutsdown?? Any help you could provide would be much appreciated. Thanks.

A:Saving BSOD Error Message

Hello. There are two ways. One is simply disable automatic restart on system failure or using the event viewer. Using the event viewer is a bit more complicated however.Usasma created a tutorial on disabling automatic restart on system failure over hereI would use thie method below and refrain from using the registry method unless you have any problems. If that is the case, you should post back letting us know. This is easier and safer:InstructionsClick 'Start'Click on 'Run'Type in "sysdm.cpl" (without the quotes) and press Enter Click on the 'Advanced' tabClick on the 'Startup and Recovery' Settings buttonUncheck 'Automatically restart', then click on OK Click on OK to exit the System applet, then close the Control Panel.Reboot for the changes to take effectNOTE: There is an option to do this when your system reboots into menu that allows you to choose Safe Mode (if you have SP2 installed) - just scroll down the list and you'll see it.Here is how to use the event viewer to find the error code: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/40108/how-to-use-event-viewer/This forum is for more if you are infected, so I'll let a MOD know to move it to the Windows XP forum. If you have a BSOD or problem you should post it over there Hope that helps With Regards,Extremeboy

Windows XP Pro WITHOUT SP1
Dell Dimension PIII 933
512 Ram

Frequently when I restart my system before Windows can load completely I get the BSOD with the following message.

Stop: 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0xEBF51FA5, 0F8981B00, 0xF8981800)

npdriver.sys - Address EBF51FA5 Base at EBF4C000, Datestamp 3C582745

Usually this occurs multiple times before XP loads successfully and I have not been able to identify any differences between the times it loads successfully and the times it doesn't.

Any ideas?

I've been experiencing BSOD many times each day on my HP Pavilion dv6 laptop. No new hardware has been installed, it has everything it came with.

I am using BlueScreenView to track the errors. I'll post what I think you may want, but please tell me what information I also need to provide and how to access.

A:BSOD error message for Windows 7 64-bit

Please follow the instructions carefully as we can't help you without the information.
Try this info for posting the memory dumps:

Quote:

Upload Dump Files:
Please go to C:\Windows\Minidump and zip up the contents of the folder. Then upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.
Left click on the first minidump file.
Hold down the "Shift" key and left click on the last minidump file.
Right click on the blue highlighted area and select "Send to"
Select "Compressed (zipped) folder" and note where the folder is saved.
Upload that .zip file with your next post.

If you have issues with "Access Denied" errors, try copying the files to your desktop and zipping them up from there. If it still won't let you zip them up, post back for further advice.

If you don't have anything in that folder, please check in C:\Windows for a file named MEMORY.DMP. If you find it, zip it up and upload it to a free file hosting service . I recommend Windows Live SkyDrive - http://skydrive.live.com or another free, file-hosting service. Then post the link to it in your topic so that we can download it.

Then, follow the directions here to set your system for Minidumps (much smaller than the MEMORY.DMP file): http://www.carrona.org/setmini.html

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.
To ensure minidumps are enabled:

* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

A:Did not See BSOD, but received a Recover PC Message Instead.

I saw the thread about this error, but this Laptop has been in the same place for a while without issue and saw the two anti-virus program collision but again this has been running this way for a while so would like further investigation since it happened twice yesterday, but I only saw it once, most likely after the first recover succeeded, but the second would not.

I checked things and rebooted anyway and the system came up without issue and continued printing jobs from a few days ago so I am wondering if that is when this started and not today. I have been getting a port missing error for the printer but it prints anyway, but this occurs on two different computers Laptop and Desktop, so don't think so.

I also rarely reboot anything as I have too much open to save all of my work and keep track of what I am working on, but this has rarely been an issue and it rebooted on its own twice today.

Hopefully there is something you find that is not one of the items mentioned above.

Thanks,

John

Every time I run a SystemSuite system (SYS1) diagnostic, I get a BSOD, with the error message:

"DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_THAN_EQUAL ...Dump of Physical Memory...."

Then the system reboots OK.

(Just recently upgraded the motherboard)

Just what does this mean?

Hiya, I restarted my pc after updating windows 7 today and was greeted with a message about Windows recovering from a BSOD, unexpected shutdown according to the message. Clicking on the find solution button didn't do anything, the message disappeared is all. I'm not sure if this is part of an ongoing problem with occasional very slow startups or what. I've looked over the event log but been able to make sense of it.
I'm uploading the dump files in the hope that they are of some help to finding the cause(s).

I'd appreciate it if there's any help that anyone can offer, thanks

I built a computer 6 months ago. I have recently been getting the BSoD. Ive gotten it 3 times. Once 3 weeks ago and twice today. I just got it and now it wont boot. It wont even go to BIOS. Tomorrow I am going to open it up and look at hardware. It was the IRQL_IS_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL message. I have heard this is generally a driver problem but I have not updated drivers for a while and if it is it should still go to BIOS since it is windows related. Only thing I can think of is maybe an auto update and a hardware flash? All help on this situation is highly appreciated. Thank you.

A:BSoD IRQL Error message.

P.S I couldnt get more info about the crash because it dumped files in 3 seconds and shutdown.
If you need specs I can give.
Any other questions you have please ask and I will do my best to figure it out.

Hi

I have a HP Compaq 6510b laptop with Windows XP Professional.  I have started getting the dreaded BSOD immediately as Windows starts up, with the error message mentioned above.  Also the following error message further down the screen:-

** STOP 0x00000005 (0x83D52020, 0x86FC43E0, 0x00000001, 0x83AFA020)

Initially the laptop would only flash the BSOD up for a second or two then restart, until I turned off the auto restart on failure.

I've trawled though this forum and done lots of Google searches but cannot seem to find the answer.  I'm aware this can be some sort of hardware related problem however I have not downloaded/installed any new hardware or software in the last few weeks.  I recently changed from McAfee to Norton security but that was several weeks ago.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Alex

Hi

Can you boot the laptop to safe mode ? .  If yes, please follow the below instructions.

1 ) Open C:\Windows\Minidump folder and look if there are any files with .dmp extension. Either copy all of them or zip the "Minidump" folder and upload it to a free file sharing site. For example http://www.mediafire.com/

Analyzing those files are necessary to get a basic idea about what is wrong with the system.

2 ) Download MinitoolBox from  http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/minitoolbox/

Run the tool and select only the following items.

-List last 10 event viewer errors

     -List installed programs

     -List minidumps

-List users, partition and memory size.

Click GO and  post the details in next reply.

A:[SOLVED] BSOD and stop message

You will get this error often times with bad ram. I would run memtest
free download, do a google for it. You should run it with one stick
at a time of ram, if you have more than one stick. If it were I that
would be the first thing to elimanate or prove its a ram issue.

This is not from my current system, but another system. If the submission must be made from the system that created the minidump, please let me know.

This dump is from a Win 7 Pro (OEM and only O/S), HP Desktop, 64 bit system. It randomly occurs and probably on average of every 3 days.

I have attached the last minidump file..

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Daemon Tools (and Alcohol % software) are known to cause BSOD's on Win7 systems (mostly due to the sptd.sys driver).
Please uninstall the program, then use the following free tool to ensure that the troublesome sptd.sys driver is removed from your system (pick the 32 or 64 bit system depending on your system's configuration): DuplexSecure - FAQ

The BSOD blames Texas Instruments USB 3.0 Host Drivers - please:
- download a fresh copy of the drivers from the PC Manufacturer's website
- uninstall the current drivers from the system
- install the fresh copy
- monitor for further BSOD's

Acronis dates from 2007. Older versions (such as this) are known to cause BSOD's on Win7 systems. Please uninstall it immediately.

Your Diagnostic Interface x64 Driver for a USB modem dates from 2007. If this is a wireless USB device, Win7 doesn't like them - especially with older drivers and it will BSOD in a hearbeat! Here's my rant on these devices:

Quote:
I do not recommend using wireless USB devices. Especially in Win7 systems.
These wireless USB devices have many issues with Win7 - and using Vista drivers with them is almost sure to cause a BSOD.
Should you want to keep using these devices, be sure to have Win7 drivers - DO NOT use Vista drivers!!!
An installable wireless PCI/PCIe card that's plugged into your motherboard is much more robust, reliable, and powerful.

Regardless of what the device is, the driver dates from 2007 and MUST BE UPDATED
If not updated, then it must be uninstalled and the device physically removed from the system.

Love to help but no dmps included in upload try this method
If you wish to have others assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder. The procedure:

* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.

this thread is not about the virus I'm just explaining something that may be related to my issue Recently I've been taking steps to try and rid myself of a virus that closes Internet Explorer when there are any links on the page relating to any big-name antivirus antimalware programs not to mention everytime my expired McAfee popup thing came up reminding me to renew it would immediately close it and when I tried to uninstall it so as to replace it with a different service it would continuously close the window I'm just throwing that out stop Cannot boot message - BSOD XP there I'm fairly sure it's not related to my current problem but I thought the information might be useful Aforementioned problem has no detrimental effect Cannot boot XP - BSOD stop message on anything I do other than the annoyance of bein unable to uninstall mcafee McAfee was no longer active and not able to be uninstalled so i installed Comodo without uninstalling again emphasizing that McAfee was no longer active with firewalls virus protection or scanning etc That Cannot boot XP - BSOD stop message said Cannot boot XP - BSOD stop message on to my current problem which is XP Support related On Monday I was playing a game when my computer suddenly crashed with a bluescreen error I have friends that get bluescreen errors from time to time while playing and they come right back no problem at all and therefore I can't honetly say that I read what all it said It was a bluescreen and I had to manually shut down my computer After that every single time I try to boot my computer I get another bluescreen It mentions making sure I have adequate disk space primary drive had gigs out of free slave had approx free and make sure my bios is up to date to ensure compatibility It then shows me the stop error STOP x E xC x DE xF BD C x I've tried booting normally - I get this error I've tried booting with last good config settings - I get the same error I've tried booting in safe mode - I get this same error I've tried booting with a bootable XP floppy disk - it tells me that hal dll is missing or corrupted possibly due to hal dll not being on the disk no idea Floppy was properly formatted and had boot ini ntldr and NTDETECT COM on it from a fully functioning Windows XP computer I made the floppy by following instructions given on one of Microsoft's Support pages I've tried booting with the setup disk - I get the same error in all modes I've tried repairing with the setup disk - it tells me that it does not detect any hard drives installed on the computer The strange part about this s that the bios system setup detects all drives just fine I've tried removing my slave drive and booting this also did not work slave has no OS installed on it I tried removing slave then chaning back and forth between combination mode and Raid autodetect AHCI mode Combination mode caused a more instantaneous crash rather than having the XP screen loading for a bit and then bluescreening The stop message was also different I think I can't recall the entire message but it began with x if I remember right I once had a problem in the past with bluescreens that was remedied by switching to and from combination mode - unfortunately it didn't work this time I switched back to Raid autodetect AHCI and it still bluescreened Also note that I was not using RAID with my drives - they were not set up to THe second drive had two games installed on for playing and that was it Mostly just a storage thing I've also in the BIOS System setup tried turing the drives off and on also no result from this I've tried swapping to different sata cables to make sure the cables were functioning also no change Does anyone recognize this problem or have any suggestions that could help I'm trying to keep information on the drive intact - as I have a rather large music collection as well as several documents of importance that I'd like to recover Unfortunately a bit strapped for cash and handing it over to Geek Squad and simp... A:Cannot boot XP - BSOD stop message

When attempting to boot in safe mode, the file it stops at before bluescreening is agpCPQ.sys

When I log into the IE it freezes on the first click-on, and then goes back to the desk top. I am able to use Google Chrome to get around o.k., but I don't have the normal "file", "view" "tools". etc.

A:Re: XP Randomly Freezes with no Error Message or BSOD

Not sure if this route will work in XP but from Start type temp then click on Change temporary Internet file settings - this will give you the same window as you would get via Tools etc. then under the Advanced tab click on Reset and you can select how much you want it to reset by.

Hi,

I am getting NSOD with this error code 0x1000007e . It always gives message of Netio.sys in BSOD screen. All my drivers are latest. My Adguard software and eagle.get downloader are also up to date. I have received BSOD even when Adguard was off.

I get BSOD regularly and randomly, particularly while browsing on Chrome browser. I was getting the same BSOD in the stable version of Windows 10 also.

Thanks and regards for help.
