Preferred Solution: ECS reportedly set to exit consumer motherboard market

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Wow didn't even know these guys were still around I've not touched and ECS board since the athlon 64 days and even then I wouldn't buy one lol.

Not saying they were terrible but I've never been a budget system builder so their products have never appealed to me.

Cisco Source Code Reportedly StolenWhile it is extremely difficult for crackers and hackers to read and find vulnerabilities in source code, this concern should be noted and the Cisco IOS system should be kept up to date for the best levels of protection. Cisco Source Code Reportedly Stolen http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,1759,1593870,00.aspThe FBI confirmed Tuesday that it is working with Cisco Systems Inc. to investigate the possible theft of source code for Cisco's main networking device operating system. According to a Russian security Web site, criminal hackers broke into Cisco Systems' corporate network last week and stole 800MB of source code for IOS 12.3 and 12.3t (an early deployment version of the operating system containing features not found in the vanilla 12.3 version). In addition, a 2.5MB sample of what is supposedly IOS code was released on an Internet Relay Chat channel as proof of the alleged theft.

A:Intel reportedly releasing just two socketed Broadwell CPUs

It often makes you wonder why push Broadwell now, when Haswell has a lot of traction and it's a few months to Skylake. They also included some BGA in the mix for other devices, but pushing a desktop chip seems a bit odd. Given the few months in between them and people unlikely, to drop Haswell unless for lower power systems.

All in all it's negligible power savings, we'd need to obviously see how the integrated graphics fair. It might be a solution for some people, but obviously not everyone is going to see it as a huge importance. It's kinda amusing to me because, I'm looking to replace my mobo / CPU right now. I'd likely sit and wait for Skylake, simply because I'd only be wanting to buy one upgrade. Upgrading is a low priority right now anyways, so there's less inclination to spend right away.

there is a simple fix
turn off browser integration so a PDF ONLY opens in Adobe reader not in the browser
if using older versions of Adobe, then under settings you can switch off browser integration. in Reader X or XI, you have to disable the browser plugin , not uncheck a box in adobe settings
on all versions of IE/& FF & chrome, you can disable the pdf plug in

Thanks in advance for your advice...

I am building a PC and I have decided to buy a OEM Q6600 processor. Being it is OEM it will not come with a CPU Fan or Heatsink. I have always bought retail versions of CPU's. I know this time I will have to go with an after market CPU fan and heatsink.

I was hoping someone would give me some advice on which product would do for my situation. I was looking at the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler. I think it fits my needs.

I also have a question about Thermal paste? Do I need it? Or does it already come with all aftermarket CPU Fans/Heatsinks?

Does anyone know if the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler comes with Thermal Paste? Would it be a good idea to use more even if the Heatsink already has the paste applied?

Thanks for the help.

A:So how is the CPU market looking?

I am sure many will have their opinions on this, but me personally it has to be Intel, on a budget of $500 for just the CPU and motherboard you should be able to get the latest high performance Intel i7 4770K and a decent Asus motherboard. IMO it is the best you can get for your money and will out perform the AMD.

I'm looking for something that can run games like WoW and CS:S with no problem. Also would be nice if it could do basic editing software (e.g. Photoshop, Fireworks, Dreamweaver)

Yah... I've already browsed around Newegg and Tigerdirect but I'm indecisive.

EDIT: It would be NICE if it could run a small 8 man counter strike server, not required though. XD

A:I'm on the market for a new Laptop

A few basic things you want to make sure your laptop has before choosing. Yes i was a salesrep and no i did not like it XD. I did however learn what is needed and what is just overdoing it. At the very least you will want 1GB of ram as vista requires this just to run that is if and when you want to make the transition to that OS. Always check the graphics card as you know all games such as WOW have minimal requirements and with all the awesome spells you will want something decent to render those graphics i would suggest something in the upper 5000s with media accelerator as it comes in handy. Ofcourse it is all based on personal opinion and i would aslo consider style XD hps are usually Nice to look at as well as use.

Hello everyone,

It's been a long time since I've been able to do any PC gaming. I've had a Gateway laptop for the past 2 years, and it has been great other than the fact that its graphics card is not good enough to play pretty much any new game (the problem has to do with the dreaded DirectX 9.0c which from searching some forums I've found that this issue has plagued gamers everywhere). Anyway, could anybody recommend a good, reliable, ready-made PC that I can purchase that has the right specs to play the top games? I'm into FPS and RTS games just so you know what I'm looking for. This article makes it sound like the software market isn't that great. What are your opinions on the feasibility of marketing your own software and how it should be done? I ask because eventually I am going to make a decision on what career path I should take...what do you guys think? I know that software development will never be obsolete, but the problem of freeware is still there.

A:Software Market

Developing new computer applications isn't really a career. It's an entrepreneurial career path. You're starting your own business. Do you have great ideas for new applications that don't already exist? Or maybe you have ideas on how to improve applications that already exist? Or you could develop custom applications based on a customer's needs by doing something in Visual Basic, C#, or Java.

The real opportunity right now is with mobile applications. Developing for the iPhone and iPad and Android phones and tablets. Have you considered this? It would still be entrepreneurial unless you got a job with an established software development company. You'd have to keep your own books and buy your own health insurance and things like that. It's a huge risk, but it can have great rewards if you're successful.

You might want to go for a private company only if you are a gamer. Get at least 1 GB of memory, but we recommend 2 GB or more. We like the computers that have Seagate drives, as reliability of Western Digital, Maxtor, and Hitachi have dropped dramatically. We also like drives from Samsung, Fujitsu, and Toshiba.
Spend a lot of time shopping for the graphics card, and the network interface, as they can be trouble.
Printers are one of the greatest mysteries nowadays... failure rates have gone sky high... Laser printers are much more reliable than photo printers, but the photo quality is less good. We suggest you do not buy the printer online, but rather from a store in your area which has techs very familiar with their printer line... and which ones fail early. Do not buy a new model... get something tried and true known to last... to avoid the early failures of many Canon, Lexmark, Dell, and HP Officejets...
We like the Konica Minolta, Fujica, Samsung, and Brother... and some of the HP printers... but we do not trust any printer that is a multifunction unit with a scanner... the problem with these units is the ink availability.
In our area and in Tucson, Office Max seems the best choice for printers as they have solid experience.
We service a great many computers, and believe you can be happy with HP, Dell, or Gateway, as long as you do not get a low priced budget or home model. We cannot recommend Sony, eMachines, Compaq, Alienware, Systemax...
It is perhaps too early to report on VISTA. If it were my decision, I would wait three to six months to learn what problems have come with the VISTA releases.

Since the demise of my x850pro, I need a new card on a budget.

I'm looking at either getting another x850pro or a 6800Gt. Are they about the same in terms of performance?

A:In the market for a new card

Do you have PCI*E or AGP?
If you have AGP, a X850XT would be better, and if you have PCI-E, a X1800 or a 7800 would be better, but I'm afraid they're a little expensive.
How much can you afford?

I'm looking to buy an MP3 player but i'm not sure what to look for. I like the ipods but I read you can't add memory to them. The Zune looks neat but I haven't heard much about it and the reviews I did read were mixed. I need something durable with a sharp look. There are so many out there now that I don't know which one would be best for me...

A:What is the best MP3 player on the market??

they all have their ups and downs
first consideration is do you want a flash or drive based one? A flash drive won't hold as much but they tolerate more josteling around than a drive based one will
second is price, iPods are nice but overpriced for what you get as is the zune (which also makes life hard with its DRM usage).

If I were in the market today (I'm currently a happy Nano owner) I'd be researching Creative products (like the Zen) or SanDisc products like the Sansa

edit --- just noticed sharp look is a criteria for you? may I ask why considering it will spend most of it's life unseen hidden away in a pocket

a hand full of questions about after market i7.

first, if my CPU is currently reading within 5-10 deg of the case temp, is it realistic to expect a CPU cooler to improve the temp or should I focus on case fans. currently reading 40C idle up to ~85C @ full load. In my mind this is high considering it has auto-throttle @ 90C and is only rated for 100C.

second, any suggestions on air cooling if I upgrade the CPU cooler? I've heard decent things about the noctua NH-U12P, but can't decide.

A:There are too many back-up programs on the Market

Hello Chris,

I like the built-in Windows Backup and System Image features. I have found it to be reliable, but others have had issues with it not be reliable at time. Personally, if you do not modify or mess with the backup, then it should be fine.

Macrium Reflect is another great free 3rd party program for backups.

Hiyas

I've got a friend who's having a bit of trouble. He's recently purchased the GeCube X1300 AGP graphics adapter. Being the avid gamer he is, he's looking to keep the card nice and cool so he's searching for an aftermarket cooler. The trouble comes in with the PCIX converter chip on the back. It's raised more so than the rest of the components on the back so we doubt the standard coolers will work on it. The exact model is this GC-RX1300GA2-D3 if anyone wants to have a look and see if they can suggest any coolers he might want to look at.

Thanks for any help you can provide in advance.

A:In the market for new camera or camcorder

Any of the brand name digital cameras are all pretty good.
Olympus is one of the best but Sony and Fuji also make great cams.
Just make sure you have one with a high OPTICAL zoom - up to 10X - and ignore the sales pitch on digital zoom that is close to useless.
Look for about 6 megapixels as a minimum.
Check it has a macro zoom capability and always use the highest resolution possible but remember this will give you seriously big picture file sizes - possibly over 1 Megabyte!
Trial and error sort of stuff.
Most of the decent cams also have video capability of up to 10 minutes of movie making.
Pick up a couple of high capacity flash storage cards as well.

Generally, bad power supply or overheating CPU or hard disc has bad sector or computer has virus infected and sometimes bad RAM causes this problem.

What should you try,
Make sure your computer is getting enough air in it. Try to restart computer in safe mode and disable to Automatic Restart in the system properties. I don't know it will give you to enough time to do it. If it is so we can see BSOD error code understand where is the problem at.
Or try to restart in safe mode and go to Command Prompt than type chkdsk /r, this command will fix bad sector on disk if it has.

Hi Guys,
I got a problem here... I'm doing a marketing assignment and the topic I chose was gaming consoles. I'm just wondering where I can find information on the target market of the 3 main ones: PS2, GC, and XBOX. Also, what do YOU think the target market (age, sex) is for these 3?

A:Target Market for consoles

It might be an interesting agle to look at the game titles as well as the console itself. It is well known that Nintendo has always favoured the younger crowd by releasing less violence oriented games, and Sony has tried to cater to all by releasing some kid friendly and some uberviolent stuff. Seems mostly violent stuff. I don't play XBox but it seems to me they cater to a more adult market, with many sports titles and the always favorite FPS games.

It looks like I need a new mobo to replace my DFI nf4 Lanparty Ultra-D. I run an opty 165 with a pretty hefty OC (about 2.7ghz from 1.8) so I'm hoping to find something that can OC reasonably well. Need it to have PCI-E as well. I've been scouring the net for the last couple hours and it doesn't seem like there are many 939 boards on the market any more. Some older sockets still have more products available... what a sad fate 939 suffered. Right now I'm leaning towards the Biostar NF4 Ultra-A9A. Can't find much info about it though (positive or negative). I'm steering away from the Foxcon on newegg after reading the many bad reviews of it.

Any suggestions?

A:In your opinion, what's the best anti-virus on the market ?

Hi tarheel ladybug,

These forums are littered with the answers to this popular question.

The answer isn't straightforward because even the best antiviruses and antispyware programs are absolutely useless when a new, fast-spreading infection appears.

What you should look for is an auto-updating antivirus and preferably a free one. Free does not mean useless it just means it does what it says and nothing else. Recommended here are Avast and Antivir.

Auto-updating means that the most up to date signatures (this means that the virus is in the database and can be removed) are automatically added to your product.

None of this means nothing unless you also regularly scan your PC. Once a week is a good average.

The antispywares that are the most updated and powerful and recommended here are Superantispyware and Spyblaster. These are free and good programs and also they don't require you to know anything about viruses.

I would provide you with a link to more info but I get the feeling you just want others recommendations so I will just say that I use Avast and Superantispyware and leave it to the BC crowd to add to this...

Companies like "The Radicati Group, Inc", a technology market research firm, provide reports on this kind of information at several thousand dollars each licensed copy. I did find one small site that comments on it's noted browser usage over a short period of time. http://meyerweb.com/eric/thoughts/2004/12/...hare-dont-care/ Note the author's comment about share's being relative.... Hopefully, another here might steer you to another source of information. Good luck in your search.

The titles says it all; what is the best premium security suite in the market right now? By premium, I mean the most complete version of the antivirus program offered by a particular company, such as Kaspersky Pure, Norton 360 and Bitdefender Total Security. I am thinking of getting one for my computer, so doing a little research to gather feedback shouldn't do much harm.[/size]

Get kaspersky fallowed by malwarebytes. Malwarebytes has a free version also so you wouldn't have to buy it.

A:In The Market For A New Laptop - Opinions Needed

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

I tried the link you posted, but it appears to be a dead 'un.

However, from the information you've posted, you'll have no problem doing what you suggest with the computer you have your eye on.

All I would say is, either buy direct from the manufacturer or a reputable reseller as I'd hate to see you getting caught out on Amazon or eBay. Also, pay particular attention to warranty periods and if you're offered the chance to buy a recovery disc with the machine, please do so.

Hello tech adapter Wireless confusing, help! needs market guys Yeah I m stuck trying to choose a couple of wireless adapters for my home network Up untill recently I have had little cause for concern when it comes to home networking I only had a desktop pc and a BT home hub which had to go wireless about year ago when I got BT vision Wireless adapter market confusing, needs help! and the Hub had to be parked beside my t v forcing me to connect to the internet via a wireless connection to my hub BT were helpfull enough about it though they gave me a free adapter for my DT to make it wireless and give or take a few issues with antivirus stopping the connection a few times I have had years of painless wireless connectivity a half decent and reliable internet connection However a couple of months ago I bought a laptop and thought it would be great to network my pc and laptop so i could transfer and copy a few files so can you imagine my dissmay when I tried to copy a large movie file and the progress box reports a MB per second transfer rate and estimated time left not today killroy since I m copying most of my music collection and or films to watch while I m working the long night shift and I dont have years to spare waiting for it i hooked up my ethernet cable and completed the task in fraction of the time anyway by the by i didnt need to go into so much detail but at the time a little investigation into wireless networking led me to a litlle info about the thing and thats how I found out that my DT adapter is b g and my laptop is b g but that n might make a little difference to my network speeds but whether it would be enough to replace all my hardware or not would not be something I d be planning on anytime soon that was untill recently though after I phoned BT to get a MAC code and negotiated a more prefferable price package signing up for a new month contract they unexpectadly sent me a new hub HUB and then I bought an xbox GB Well the HUB has n and the xbox is also built in wireless n so all I need now is hardware for my PC and my laptop to upgrade to n easiest way is to plug in USB wireless adapters right well maybe if choosing an adapter was as easy as it sounded first off not all adapters with an N in their name are actually n they range from to some are draft some are draft some claim Mbps others Mbps To me draft sounds like not quite complete therefore compatability issues could be expected so how many drafts are there and how much should I be prepared to spend on a wireless adapter and how much improvement can I actually expect to see on my network is there any settings in windows that need to be tweeked to get better speeds alsoo any recomendations for adapters available in th UK GBP would be greatly accepted thanks for listening Keith FYI current systems Laptop Dell Inspiron bit windows Intel core I integrated graphics Dell wireless pcie b g DeskTop PC Packard Bell bit windows AMD phenom Nvidia GT graphics BT voyager b g Networking with BT Homehub nbsp

A:Wireless adapter market confusing, needs help!

There is no significant difference between draft 2 and the final 802.11n. Draft 1 can be problematic, and I would advise not touching it.

150 Mbps is maximum nominal speed using one channel; 300 Mbps is dual channel. TrendNet is claiming a 450 Mbps router (since there is no other product claiming more than 300 Mbps I don't know what good the router would be).

In the following I'm assuming that the computers and network are doing little else and that there is no wireless interference.

If you used one computer connected to the router by ethernet and the other by 802.11g Wi-Fi you can get 2.5 or a little more MBps data transfers for a large file. With operating system overhead don't expect that for a bunch of smaller files though.

Same setup with dual channel 'n' would probably give you about 8 MBps. Both computers using dual-channel 'n' probably 3 to 4 MBps.

Lumia 950 was never available through Microsoft India Online store. It was there on few portals such as Flipkart & Amazon until last month, but all off a sudden this has disappeared from those sites as well.
Few retail stores were also hosting this phone but they are not in stock since last 6 months with them
With news of this phone getting withdrawn, I doubt if I can purchase this phone in India now & seems that I am left with no option but to continue with my old Lumia 620.

I know that a few more GeForce 8000 series graphics cards were recently released. Does anyone know where I can find more information on future cards from both ATI and nVidia for this summer. I know that price cuts are often planned ahead of time also, such as recent price cuts for AMD processors as well as Intel's E4300 processor.

I am looking for any information, either regarding product releases or price cuts, as I am planning to build a new system. Thanks for reading and posting.

A:video card market for this summer

Hi,

ATI will soon be releaseing thier first DX10 offering next month (May 07). Take a look at this chart and scroll dwn to the R600 Series section, those will be the new ATI cards coming out.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_ATI_Graphics_Processing_Units

Nvidia just released thier 8600 and 8500 cards to add to their DX10 GeForce 8 Series.. also, supposedly in the next few months (summer maybe?) Nvidia will be releaseing thier 8900 series cards. Here is a listing of all of Nvidia Series Cards, the newer ones are under the GeForce 8 Series section.

Hello everyone,
Just installed a fresh copy of windows 8.1 Pro, and i am quite thankfull and i like it a lot. Faster, smoother more practical. However, i just made a new account (microsoft) and i installed this one app. I did not like it very much so i unistalled. However, when i log in at my market and browse to my apps, under the Apps installed in device Sotxxxxx it shows that very app there, saying at the bottom "Not installed". What can i do? This app is also shown under Apps not installed in this device. I was thinking about deleting the current account, as i use diffirent e-mail provider and create it again with same username. Is this possible? Any help and i would be gratefull.

A:Windows 8.1 Market, an app was unistalled but still shown.

Hello sotostzam, and welcome to Eight Forums.

That would be the Your Apps feature in the Store that lists all apps that you have ever installed from the Store. It's suppose to help make it easier to reinstall apps that you have installed before by making them easier to find say after having to do a clean install of Windows.

However, there currently isn't an option available to remove unwanted listed apps in Your Apps. The only way would be to close that Microsoft account, and create a new one with a new email address to start completely over.

I have a 3200 AMD Athlon HP computer that has a relatively cheap integrated graphics card and when I put in my GeForce 6600 GT it disables the onboard card. I was wondering if there was any way to override the disable so I could use both cards and set up a dual monitor desktop.

A:Working with integrated graphics AND after market

You can't do that. If you want dual monitors, you will need a card that has 2 ports. The only way to use 2 cards at the same time as one is when you have them in sli (nvidia cards), or crossfire (ati cards), and they need to be the same models.

Try going into setting and making the account you are using into a local account then attaching it to your hotmail account again. This may solve the issue. I was having an issue like that so I tried it and it sorted it out for me.

Hi

I am running windows 7 professional 64 bit. I have tried a variety of viruses / mail-ware removal tools and wasted the last 24 hours trying to get rid of this virus. I have removed all unnecessary settings in Chrome, the only browser I use, and run scan after scan all to no avail. Does anyone have any idea how to get rid of this?

A:Removing monster market ware

Hello mdp3157.
This has  been reported for several years, and it is "forced" Junkware / Advertising.
Personally, this has been another reason why I have never thought of using Chrome at all.

Lets try a few remover tools on it first -

Please download Rkill (courtesy of BleepingComputer.com) to your desktop.
There are 2 different versions. If one of them won't run then download and try to run the other one.
You only need to get one of these to run, not all of them.
You may get warnings from your antivirus about this tool, ignore them or shutdown your antivirus.
See How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus
rKill.exe: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/10/iExplore.exe (renamed rKill.exe): http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/rkill/dl/11/
* Double-click on the Rkill desktop icon to run the tool.
* A black DOS box will briefly flash and then disappear. This is normal and indicates the tool ran successfully.
* If not, delete the file, then download and use the one provided in Link 2.
* Do not reboot until instructed.
* If the tool does not run from any of the links provided, please let me know.
If normal mode still doesn't work, run the tool from safe mode.
When the scan is done Notepad will open with rKill log.
Post it in your next reply.
NOTE. rKill.txt log will also be present on your desktop.

Please download AdwCleaner by Xplode to your desktop.
* Close all open programs and internet browsers.
* Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
* Click on Scan. (Only Once)
* Check the listed items and untick any you do not want removed.
* Click on Clean (Only Once) and confirm with OK if asked
* NOTE : Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
* Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
* You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S0].txt as well.

Please download Junkware Removal Tool by thisisu to your desktopShut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message.

Download Security Check by Screen317 from HERE
* Save it to your Desktop.
* Double-click SecurityCheck.exe
* Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box.
* A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.Note: If a security program requests permission to access the Internet, allow it to do so.

Please post AdwCleaner log
Jrt log
Security Check log
in your next reply and a report on the computer problems.

Make sure any active Antivirus has been enabled NOW -

Thank You -

I've been asked to do a multiple monitor setup at work with around 10 monitors. Buying high end graphics cards isn't an option though, so it would have to be in an inexpensive method. Multiple computers isn't a problem, if something like that is possible. Windows 7 would be the ideal OS, but if it's not possible on there XP or even linux would be ok.

Anyone know of a way to do this? If so, your input would be great.

A:Multi Screen Setup (without after market gpu)

Moved to peripherals board.

You don't need to spend money on high end graphics cards...a couple of cheap low end cards will do as long as you're just doing basic tasks on them.
