I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

1 Welcome to Tech Support Guy
2 re your disclaimer - no need for any apologies, but your post is a little difficult to read, we would have been better with separation of the main points by paragraph spacing. However I think I have the situation
3. Lets start with the basic possible causes.
4. I do not know that monitor but the jack for the speakers is connected to the audio from HDMI input is it the 3.5mm just in case there is another jack socket
5. Please see screenshot and check levels
as if volume is right down there will of course be no sound
6. I cannot understand why the headphones are shown as the Realtek speakers they are I thought usually shown as second ouptut

A:Gigabyte HDMI output to Yamaha receiver - no sound output

As you have a separate video card, its capabilities should determine how the video works, not the motherboard. The video is routed to the video card.

If you had some type of integrated Video on the motherboard then the motherboard's specs would apply. For example, I have an Intel i7 3770 CPU and this model has built in Intel HD4000 video which is routed to motherboard video connectors and thus the motherboard would determine how the video is distributed. However, I'm using a separate video card and thus that determines how video is distributed.

It was that Windows XP search dog. When you ctrl + f to open the search side bar in a window there is an animated dog that seems innocuous. Every 15 minutes or so it will scratch itself and make that noise twice. As long as that search side bar is open, minimized or not, that noise will persist.

I am getting a laptop. Right now I am deciding between regular "High Definition Audio 2.0" and a "ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi Laptop Sound Card with Wireless Receiver Bundle". The latter is 134 dollars more. Would the latter make the output of sound better on external speakers. Say if you're a DJ, and you use the laptop, would the sound coming out of the speakers at those high volumes be much better if you have the better soundcard? Or does it not have any effect on the output sounds? Thanks!

A:How can I get sound output from sound card when streaming video?

Hello green,

You get sound from your microphone? I don't think I am understanding. Sound should come from your sound card. You plug the speakers into the back of the computer and into the sound card (green jack). The mic receives sound. My mic is USB so it doesn't use any jack other than the USB port, but if you use the sound card, it goes into the purple jack

Do you have the audio driver installed? This should be right: http://support.acer.com/product/defa...x?modelId=2192

A:No sound on start-up, Win8 needs time to output sound

For start up sound go to personalize>sounds>at bottom of box place a check for "Play Windows Startup sound. With a laptop you probably are using realtek HD sound driver... you could look in task manager and see if it is turned on at startup, also in event viewer>windows logs>system and look at the time when you booted and see if there are any audio errors.

Usually when any piece of audio electronics has that irritating buzzing sound with faint music in background a physical ground is missing or a leak to ground has occurred.
You may have developed a problem in your audio card or with external connections.
Make sure all you physical connections to the card are good.
You may also want to remove the card from you PC and clean all the contacts on the card and reinsert.
After all above is tried you may want to remove the audio card from device manager and reinstall all your drivers.
If reinstalling and cleaning all contacts does not solve the problem you may have a defective card.

A:Pc No Sound Output

The speaker inside the case is used to emit the POST beep to let you know the computer hardware has passed the test and can boot. It does not play sounds from Windows or your audio. The Green plug is the Speaker out for your computer.
Boot into Setup (Bios) and make sure the onboard Audio is Enabled. At bootup you should get the new hardware wizard. You may need to download the driver from the Motherboard manufacturer If you don't know the model # of the motherboard then download Speccy and it will tell you the info you need.

Hi,

I'm a college student with a desktop computer. Whenever I come home, I leave my speakers at school.

I used to have Windows Vista. When I'd come home, I could listen to music without headphones or speakers. In other words, sound would come from my sound card.

I now have Windows 7, which will only play sound when I have headphones or speakers. How can I enable Windows to let sound play from my sound card when I don't have any other means of output?

A:Sound Output

Normally, desktops do not have speakers. If yours does, it's not the usual configuration on a desktop. Best to checkwith HP to see what you need to do, as you may need some special HP audio software to get it to work.

I've worked on several HP desktops and none of them had internal speakers.

I have a TV that is already hooked up to my PC screens output and a 5.1 surround sound receiver/system downstairs that I wish I could hook my computers normal sound output up to with the single s/pdif cord. I want to use it to watch non-dvd movies (avi, vcd).

I recently bought a Hercules Game Theatre XP and Ive come to find out that you can't really output the PCs normal wave out to the S/PDIF because an ac3 stream would have to be created. Is there anyway to create this stream and output it via the power-dvd s/pdif filter?? This could possibly be implemented in zoomplayer as it supports sound re-routing and what not.

If anyone knows any software work around of how to output PC wave to ac3 stream OR any hardware card that DOES do this....please lemme know!

thanks in advance

If you right click on your sound icon in the tray icon area (bottom right hand side) and click Playback devices, what devices can you see in there.

I'm assuming of course you're using Win7/8.

If you've reinstalled the drivers without error as you said, you should have some working devices in there...

Cheers.

Going by the DevID in that screen shot it is the Dell version of the Live 5.1, which doesn't work with the regular Live drivers. For that card (at least on XP) you need the one here,

Creative Worldwide Support > Sound Blaster Live! 5.1 Digital (Dell)

Click on the Driver link to show them all and the one you want is,

What kind of sound output does a "normal" laptop usually have?

Do they have like 5.1 or 7.1? or just a standard stereo hole.

What kind of speakers can you plug in? Regular computer speakers?
Or does it plug into the headphone hole, if it has one?

I've just done a clean install of windows 7 x64 onto a new hd, all drivers are installed including the sound driver but I get no sound output to the speakers.

The soundscard is an onboard Realtek ALC662 HD Audio codec, I've tried the Microsoft driver as well as downloaded the latest Realtek and Gigabyte Azalia drivers. They all install fine but produce no output.
I have also tried installing an old Creative Audigy2 PCI card, this also installs fine but produces no output.

I had previously had Windows XP installed on this hardware and sound worked fine. I have also plugged the speakers into an adjacent system and they work fine. Plugging my old HD back in and booting XP the sound works fine.

It looks like a Windows7 issue, anyone have any ideas on what to try next?

A:Windows 7 x64 - No sound output

Some realtek sound drivers are known to be unreliable. You may have to try mutiple different sets of drivers until you find one that works for you. One of the best ways to do this is to go to your OEM website and download their drivers. If you built the computer yourself, just go to the Realtek website.

Hi all, New to this forum so apologies if this has already been raised. Recently upgraded from xp to win7. Have since updated to latest realtek drive. I can't get sound output to a Sony MD via front jack which used to work before the os upgrade. Even if I plug in a headphone I get no sound other than from the speakers. Speaker sounds are great as before. With the front panel sockets pink (mic) green (headphone) I used to be able to plug into either and realtek would automatically select the right source. Spkr config is stereo, No sound fx or room correction and default format is CD.
Any ideas anyone?

Still no sound on any of them. Now I noticed the cd/dvd drive isn't picked up in my computer but it does open and spin a disk as if its pre loading the cd.

Sound is very intermittent when booting up the machine 9/10 it doesn't work.

Any idea's?

Thanks in advance

If there are, install them, restart the PC and then reinstall the Acer sound drivers (not the sound chip vendor sound drivers) and see if that helps. I had an Acer 7720 model and I tried the generic RealTek (the sound chip on the 7720) and they did not work correctly. I installed the Acer supplied drivers and no more sound problems.

Also in Vista/Win 7 make sure your "speakers" are set as the default "Playback" device in the Control Panel/Hardware and Sound and finally the Sound Panel. I don't remember how that is setup in XP (remember this is a Windows 7 forum, not a Windows XP forum).

Is it possible to take the sound from my laptop without is passing though my laptops DAC (Digital to Analauge converter) and feed the sound into the DAC on my Cyrus CD player 6XP (2010 Edition) and then onto my amplifier, so I can experenice the higher quality from the CD players DAC rather than my computers.

Short answer ... probably not.

However, there are some high quality dacs on the market that will connect to your computer by USB or Firewire and deliver mind blowing good sound... There's a lot of them and at a very wide range of prices, so do some google searches....

But do let me caution you... unless you have exceptionally good audio gear the audible improvements are likely to be lost to plastic speaker boxes, weak power supplies and poorly designed sub-woofers....

DAC vs Soundcard on high end gear such as McIntosh Audio... "WOW"
DAC vs Soundcard on $199 home theater in a box... "Why did I waste my money".

A:Onboard Sound Output gone very low

Welcome to Bleepingcomputer.

If you feel your on-board sound chip is failing, you can always purchase a decent add in sound card and turn off the on-board.

I can see your volume controls are all maxed out, I should advise you that certain software such as Windows Media Player has its own built in volume control.

You should make sure you have adjusted those controls as well as your on-board chips volume properties.

Bruce.

Greetings, all.

My thanks in advance for reading through my post. Your help with this issue is very much appreciated.

Here's my problem:
I have one computer, and two places that I want the sound to come from; the input on the back of my PC Tower, and the input on the back of one of my PC monitors. My computer recognises the multiple inputs available, but it seems to only allow me to select one output source instead of two. Can I make my computer produce its sound through two inputs instead of just one? If so, how?

I look forward to reading your answers. Many thanks.

Is it possible to change the output device of a sound playing on my computer?

Like, can I let iTunes play on my USB headphones while sound in Firefox plays on my non-USB speakers?

The only program that I know that has this built in functionally is Skype and other Voip programs. For example, I can listen to music on my speakers while talking on Skype using my headphones.

Is there any 3rd party software I can use to "force" certain programs to output to certain devices?

Hi. I have recently purchased a Samson G-Track (GM1U) USB Microphone. I have installed it and hooked it up to my computer in order to record vocal tracks and make podcasts. However, whenever I hook it up, my regular speakers stop functioning (Likewise, when I remove it, the regular speakers work again).

I'd like to know if there is a way to have my speakers and Microphone work at the same time. Any help would be much appreciated. : ]

(Just for note, my speakers are SB Audigy LS, which is a product of Creative Technologies Ltd., in the case that this is needed in order to find a solution)

The only thing I suggest is to plug the mic in before your computer turns on.
Basically it's just taking precedence over your sound

Like this one....!

Is the output of a standalone sound card sufficient to power a set of very efficient home stereo speakers in a small room for background music?....not real loud cuz it's next to a bedroom....

.....Or should the output be fed into the aux/input of a stereo amp/receiver to power the speakers?

I want to listen to my mp3s with my existing stereo speakers.....

Hi folks.

I really cannot seem to be able to work this one out...

When I'm playing music or audio that I've recorded etc, I get a bits of static here and there.
I have on board sound card, a Delta audiophile card and an external USB sound card and it seems to do it on all of them and I've tried 2 different sets of speakers and headphones. Odd thing is, it will record files without any static at all. I tried some recorded samples on a Mac today, and they were fine.

Any suggestions?

I'd be really grateful, thanks!

EDIT - Sorry, I forgot to say: The operating system is irrelevant and so is drivers. The same happens on Windows 7, Windows Xp, Debian Linux, Ubuntu, Fedora and an old version of Knoppix

Hi. i was just wondering if it was possible to have more than one set of speakers play audio at the same time. For instance i have a set of speakers, but also have some on my monitor, i can only use one set by changing the settings in the audio properties i.e to desktop speakers. Also when you plug headphones or them speakers which go into portable cd players the sound mutes from the primary speakers and only plays on the set of speakers you plug in. Hope ive not confused anyone here. Just thought there might of been a setting allowing you to use more than one audio output at once.
Thanks.

There is no simple solution, such as a setting, to your problem. One solution is to buy a small stereo preamp to plug into the computer, then branch from the preamp output to speakers that have built-in power amps.

Hello,

This may seem like a vary basic question as it is, but it's kinda annoying and I really don't have a solution.

I have two really nice speakers, but the way my computer is set up, any way I try my left speaker ends up on the right side of my room and my right speaker ends up on the left side, and it impossible for me to switch it.

So I would like to know if there is an adapter, or maybe even a software which will reverse the sound coming out of each speaker?

Thanks.

I have my laptop Dell Studio connected to Hitachi HDTV input, the problem is that the TV displays picture (although not in full recommended resolution, not sure why either), but the sound is not coming out from the TV speakers. I have attached a picture of the audio device manager page to show you how is configured right now.

Hey all,

I have a problem with the HDMI output on my laptop. I've tried to research the problem and for the most part the answer is to set the default playback device to the HDMI output. I do this, and even when I click the 'Test' button, the bell rings through the speakers of the TV, along with other system noises like error popups. However, when I try to watch movies or listen to music there is no sound from the TV. I can even be playing a song, press the 'Test' button, and it rings just fine.... but no music. It's making me and I need some help!

Hi, does anyone know what could be causing this problem on my dads computer. He's running a 64bit windows 7. Every now and then , only for a second maybe a few more the sound will distort and sound kinda tinny. It happens every half hour or so in an irregular pattern.

Hi all.

I am using Nvidia HDA as my sound system with my screens, recently the new patch (March 1st) for windows solved my screens from blacking out, however, when I switch on, the sound changes to the other screen. (Seems to be once every day)

I have found a workaround which is keep everything enabled and it should set itself to default.

Still annoying however, I disable everything else that I am not using, to prevent conflicts.

This issue is hard to explain, maybe there is a term for it, I'm not sure. When listening to mp3s through my computer (with headphones) running vista, for some reason the computer tries to make up for loud parts by making the overall volume softer. It sounds really irritating listening to the volume vary every time there is a loud part to the song.

This problem seems not to happen on my XP installation, just Vista (dual-booted comp).

It's called "Volume Leveling." As far as I know, thats not a Vista feature. Does your soundcard have its own software that could be enabling it?

Do you have two separate jacks labeled center and subwoofer or a single jack labeled "center/subwoofer?

If it is a single jack, it probably has two outputs, one for the front center audio and the other for the subwoofer audio.

I would first look for updated sound drivers and try them. If the drivers were specifically for XP that can be a problem due to Vista/Win 7 handling some audio functions differently. Look for a Win 7 or at a minimum Vista sound drivers.

Since my jackstick port is kind of broken, and only work sometimes, im getting tired of using it. I know that my speakers doesn't work for some reason (computer speakers) so i decided today to buy a USB headset, which also happens not to work.

I've tried to look up the driver updates, but the only avaible driver it should be updated. Also i've tried to manually switch over to he USB headset as a output, but i simply doesnt register the input as a soundoutput, i think. I've had the speaker problem since the forced update of windows 10, and i spoke to my friend about it (who also happens to have the same PC as i do) who also shares the problem of not working speakers.

It seems like my computer is not registering my headset at all, as you can see in these pictures: Imgur: The most awesome images on the Internet

Hi guys,

Problem - Installed Win 7 Pro x32 this week, and i want to output sound on my monitor and tv at the same time. I have a monitor hooked up via VGA and a TV via HDMI on the same graphics card.

At present only way to change sound output is using the playback devices control to switch when needed which is a pain i must say. Had this working on vista but cant remember how. (fluke i think)

Any help appreciated! cheers

A:output sound at the same time on 2 displays

You should be able to disable a monitor's audio via the buttons on your monitor.
VGA does not have an audio signal, HDMI does.

So i get vista all installed on my new machine and all the drivers and whatnot and everything is working great except the audio I output not Rear seem does work to (sound) have speakers and my motherboard supports sound with the realtek software drivers So Rear output does not seem to work (sound) I plug everything in one by one and watch the popups on screen that ask me which device I connected As I plug the three plugs in the center subwoofer comes up right front speakers comes up ok and so does the rear So the software says everything is working fine but I get no output to the rear channels The colors are as follows and the jacks match the plugs Orange - Center Subwoofer Black - Rear L R Green - Front L R The speakers work fine if I plug the back channel into the front on the PC they play The jack on its own is fine if I plug the front channel green plug into the BACK black jack on the PC and set it to quot front speakers quot on the popup that I get the sound plays fine However I play a few games that will use the surround channels and they worked on my old PC just fine But now I seemingly get no rear output I am wondering if it is a driver issue or a codec issue or anything of that sort because I dont enjoy not hearing the guy sneaking up behind me to stab me in the back xD nbsp

I have an IR RC Helicopter that is controlled by IR transmitter that plugs into the audio out jack of my mobile phone (which runs an app that produces the audio signal, that the transmitter converts).

I've recorded the audio out of the app via the line-in on my computer. I get a nice signal that I can decode into the component information used to control the helicopter.

My problem is that when I playback the signal (via the transmitter, attached to my comps headphone jack) the helicopter won't respond.

I tried re-recording the audio of my computer by looping the headphone jack out back into the line-in (not sure if this is a good idea in terms of feedback). I can then record the signal output, which is similar to the source one but fairly distorted. Does windows 7 equalize sound output or something funny, and if so can I turn this off??

Cheers!

A:Does windows 7 equalize sound output?

Try the line out jack on your PC rather than the headphone jack. That may make a difference as the headphone output is compensated on most computers, where the line out is not.

I am astonished by how primitive the Windows sound system is The setup An HDMI cable connects a Radeon problems sound output HDMI HD to my Samsung TV I use the TV for both video and audio output Windows seems to detect whether the output device supports audio and how many audio channels it has HDMI sound output problems The problem is it does that in a very unwise way If I turn my TV on and then start Windows things work fine Now HDMI sound output problems if I start Windows and THEN turn my TV on I get no audio The only quot fix quot is to logoff and login again so that it re-checks the TV now turned on and sees it supports stereo audio output Even worse if I turn my TV on start Windows and for some reason turn the TV off the sound gets disabled as well I have never seen a problem like this surface from the order of turning things on Sometimes I like to plug my PC into my Blu-Ray Home Theater The wiring is very similar HDMI cable from the Radeon into a Sony BDV-E Home Theater It supports audio My card supports up to channels output through HDMI and I have tested two different HDMI cables However added to the previously specified audio problems for some reason Windows thinks the output source the home theater has only two channels so all I get is STEREO I have tried updating drivers even downloading different drivers searching for some hacks that could solve it at all I found a thread once of a guy who had the exact same problem and got it to work on Linux with some fancy console code Given this is primary an OS issue the solution would be to force Windows to output all the channels uninterruptedly Any Windows experts or hackers could give me a lift on this Thanks

A:HDMI sound output problems

So I have this headset plugged in almost always when I'm my computer and I run games/ventrilo/iTunes/Windows media player/IE.... alot of programs.

To the point: I want to be able to make it so only ventrilo's output sound goes to headset, everything else is to my regular speakers/headphones.

Ventrilo = Headset
iTunes = Speakers/Headphones
WMP = Speakers/Headphones
IE = Speakers/Headphones
Games = Speakers/Headphones
Realplayer = Speakers/Headphones

If it matters: I'm using Realtek's high definition sound drivers.

Hello everyone,
I have a bit of a problem here. My AMD HDMI Output Audio Device is not working even though its set on default on playback devices and the computer and monitor sound is on. Was wondering whats wrong here.
My apologies if there were similar threads about this, as I just made an account and didn't get to check them up. Although I did search google and there were few cases with people that were using NVIDIA, since I'm not using it I would like to know how to solve this. I'll keep in touch and add additional info if needed. Thanks in advance.

I have laptop model HP 8530w. I got video as plug & play. But sound doesn't work until I restart. I have to keep HDMI cable connected while restarting. As soon as it works without any change right after the restart. In control panel there is audio manger indie speaker, headphone, digital audio(S/PDIF). If I change to speaker as default it works fine in laptop speaker. But same way if I set digital audio it doesn't work. It only works after restart. Also as soon as laptop goes to sleeping mode (hibernate), I have to restart to get the sound output by HDMI cable to HD tv.

Onboard Sound: ALC 888s
external DAC/amp: Fiio E17
Connection: ALC 888s out----Optical digital cable-----Fiio e17 SPDIF in
I do not get sound when I set Realtek Digital Output (Optical) as my playback device. I tested the cable and fiio e17 on my PS3 and it works fine. I tried on windows 8.1 and windows 7 and it has the same result. I notice that when i connect or disconnect the cable, Realtek does not say anything.

I have the latest sound drivers and i made sure the sound format was stereo and not surround.

EDIT: fixed. I opened up my computer and i switched to another spdif header. Maybe it was defective or it was loose.

I've been having a rather irritating problem with my NVIDIA graphics card. Ever since I installed the card, it has been outputting sound through the card instead of through my onboard audio. Since I do not want to purchase an HDMI to DVI cable to play sound through my monitor, I was wondering how to redirect the audio to play through my motherboard so I can hear sound again. I have tried resetting BIOS settings, reinstalling all drivers for sound card, motherboard, and gpu, and I have poked around 100's of forums, and tried everything. I'm even considering buying a different brand of card because this stupid thing has created so many problems.

A:Can't get sound to work through hdmi output through my tv!

I do this with my TV too

The first place I would look is to make sure that Windows detected the HDMI display properly.

Look in Device manager with the TV connected and turned on.
Click the Windows Orb (used to be the START button in XP)
Type
Device Manager
and you should see a link to click for it.

In the Device Manager window see if there is anything under
Other Devices
or if any items have a question mark or exclamation mark on them.

If you see anything like that let us know what it is and someone can tell you what to do next.(it depends on what exactly you see)

Also what kind of video card are you plugging the HDMI into? I use an ATI card.

A:Tecra 8100 - no sound output except from mic!

Hello

That?s a good questions and I never heard about such an issue...

I think at fist you should start to update the sound driver of your notebook. Therefore you can look on the Toshiba website for an update:
http://eu.computers.toshiba-europe.com => Support & Downloads => Download Drivers

Before you install the newest version, you should remove the old version first and restart the notebook.

Maybe a reinstallation of Windows with the Toshiba recovery disk could be also useful and in worst case it?s a hardware malfunction and you have to exchange the mainboard. :(

Hope this is the right forum for this problem. . .
I'm running Windows XP (SP2) and for somethime now I can't get sound from any of my media output. When I boot into Windows I hear the familiar opening flourish that Windows uses as it's default opening and again, when I bring my system down I hear the short closing sound that Windows broadcasts. But no sounds from any media, or even the Windows installed sound files.
I've done the obvious - checked to make sure I'm not on MUTE; tried it with just headphones attached with the same result.....
My guess is that some other program/application is stepping on the sound function.
I'm totally stumped and I'm hoping you folks have some ideas as to what the culprit is.
Thanks!!!
