I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Good day,

I was wondering what's the best setting/s for my bios using this board asus m3n78-vm, had it for a year and
only now that i'm asking.

i'm interested about the ecc setting also, everything's set to default, except sata mode to ahci

everything's working fine btw.

i have winxp pro, 4 gig memory, gts 250 palit video card, creative audigy 2 value sound card.
several sata drives.and samsung burner.

A:asus motherboard m3n78-vm proper bios settings

Usually the bios has two sets of defaults. One if failsafe and one is performance. I choose the performance one, but your best bet to find the best is by trial and error.

I noticed that this computer that I had bought was slowing down even though I have a decent graphics card. I am guessing it is the Processor because I had cleared everything off the computer. The processor is a AMD Athlon X2 64 Dual core. If anyone could help me than thank you!

OK, so I just built a new PC with an ASUS M3N78 PRO motherboard. I installed Windows 7 and almost everything works except for the sound. I have Logitech X-540 Surround Sound speakers hooked up and I installed a RealTec audio driver for Vista x64, which did nothing. Any ideas about how to get this working?

A:Asus M3N78 audio driver

ASUS and their horrible drivers. The best suggestion I can make for now is to uninstall the drivers for now from the Device Manager. Allow W7 to install its drivers via Windows Update.

Not much of a solution but *many* people have issues with their audio cards and ASUS boards, it's not just a W7 issue.

I am using onboard graphics with my Asus M3n78 Pro and I have gone to almost every site I could think of to look for drivers and tried to use them (The sound is by Realtek) but there is one problem, Windows is not even recognizing that I have onboard sound on my motherboard. I have no clue what to do, never had any problems like this, does anyone know what I have to do?

Important edit, I am running 64 bit and I had sound when I installed windows but for some reason it just stopped recognizing it. I have unpluged all of my fans and other stuff so It cant be a power issue.

Hi, I just installed Windows 8. I installed display drivers, motherboard drivers, realtek drivers (sound), but in the device manager there's still coprocessor without drivers. I didn't update Win, maybe that's the problem?
Thanx in advance

A:Coprocessor driver ASUS M3N78-EM

Your mobo doesn't support Win 8. The missing driver is a Nvidia driver. I can't find a Win8 version. You can try downloading and installing the latest Win 7 (WHQL) chipset driver package (Beta 15.49) for your mobo here: M3N78-EM - Motherboards - ASUS

I'm building a new pc with a Asus M3N78-EM mb and AMD Phenom 9600.
I tried installing Windows 7 Ultimate (Bld 7000) 64 bit and was getting the BSOD around the point of expanding files during the install. I tried a couple times, same results. I then updated to the latest bios for the mb and tried installing again. The install goes much further, during the part of "completing install" i get the BSOD. I tried 3 more times, everytime BSOD around the same part of the install. Can someone tell me if this is a mb bios issue, a bad cpu issue or a windows 7 64-bit issue? I tried installing Windows 7 beta 32-bit, and this installed successfully on the first try. This is nothing fancy with my new system, 4 gb (1066) GSkill memory, all default bios settings, sata hd's (non raid).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

A:ASUS motherboard help

It could be a motherboard problem. If it has told you that it failed both a VGA test and a RAM test, you can assume that it is not those components at fault. Do you have another motherboard to test in it?

You might also try testing the power supply, but I doubt that is the culprit.

Lastly, welcome to TechSpot!

Hi, I happened to have an old motherboard lying around, so I decided to make a computer out of it. The problem that arose was that I attached a 12v molex connector to two wires with another connector which leads to these pins that usually you would attach the case power and HDD Light and Power Light. When I did this I booted up and the board would not start. I know I did something wrong, that I fed it 12v, and possibly might have fired it. Any clue to how I could get it running again???

A:is there a better motherboard than asus?

It's all a matter of opinion, there is no "better" motherboard. One company's board has several great features and other less great features, missing features etc that other companys board might make up for but yet have it's own flaws also.

You just have to figure out which board has the features that you need and can take advantage of for, also considering the price, compatibility, etc.

Have you chosen the computer case you are going to use yet?

For a home media PC, the one defining factor is available "space". (meaning how large of a computer case are you going to use?)

A smaller case may limit you a Micro ATX or smaller MB, low-profile video/audio card or integrated video/audio, low profile CPU heatsink/fan, etc. A smaller case will also mean a lower power PSU which may also limit your choice of other parts.

hey guys, i just re-installed Windows XP SP3 on this machine running the A8N-E and i can't find the LAN driver or the general drivers anywhere. i came across this: http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us but it doesn't have the full drivers or anything for the LAN to work.

i know there are sites out there that have the drivers, but these seem dodgy or illegimate with viruses. are there decent sites out there?

thanks

I have a mesh pc withe above motherboard and running windows xp home. the pc crashed with a blue screen telling me it had shut down to prevent damage to my pc. i concluded that my problem was my hard drive so I bought a new one. while removing the old one I inadvertently pulled soma wires off the pins at the bottom rh side of the some next to the pc speaker connection. I have a green/white wire, the green is marked with a + and the white a - these are separate connectors. I cannot see where these should be connected. the other are two wires on one connector.orange and white, blue/white, and two grey wires. some have names where they should go but should they be connected horizontally or vertical.
Any help would be appreciated

Hopeing someone can help
Built my first box with above motherboard and found supplied cd not compatible with vista business 32bit. Searched ASUS website. Found that they have a listing for Vista. Dowloaded and installed. Everything working except for "device driver not installed" for simple PCI controller. Searched for more drivers but can't find one. Anyone else had same problem or can anyone suggest a solution. When I try to update the driver, vista cannot find a driver on the web, installation cd, or the folder that I have downloaded the new software too!!

My original Asus P5ND2-SLI Deluxe doesn't work anymore so I have to replace it. From the beginning I always had issues with the POST and would have to restart from the back of the computer. I'm looking for another MOBO that supports Intel Pentium 4 EE. Looking at other ASUS motherboards I read the same issues with booting. I'm obviously not alone with the previous problems. Does anyone have any other suggestions for good boards that are just solid and consistent? There seems to be a decent ABIT one. I guess I don't want to spend $200 or more on something that's going to give me the same problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I think the Asus boards arent completely solid until you buy p5n32 or better, if you pay 100 or so for a board of course not as good quality is put into it. I have the p5n32 sli premium. Its a champ.

Greetings,

My almost 3 year old Asus X52 F3SV Notebook suddenly froze and shut itself down today. It will not boot past the 'Asus' logo screen. The furthest it got was 'loading windows', but quickly rebooted once that screen showed up.
It has been running quite hot lately, but i cleaned the fan out last weekend, and it had been running without problem since then.
I'm running Windows Vista Premium, with no other real problems until now, with up to date windows updates and regular Spybot and anti-virus scans.
There were random multicoloured lines running through the Asus screen on the first reboot after freezing. Could it be my graphics card? (Nvidia 8600m). I did not hear any crackling/popping sounds, so I really hope it's not dead yet.
I've looked around these forums, but couldn't find a similar problem/solution.

Thank you.

A:Asus x52 F3SV notebook not booting past Asus screen

Try running Bios defaults

This settings area can be called:
Bios Setup
CMOS Settings
System Setup
even just Setup
You can enter it by pressing the keyboard key that is displayed on your screen when first turning on your computer
Its sometimes:
A Fn Button like F1, or F2, or F10 or some other Fn key
DEL key
(whatever the computer states on screen when you first turn on your computer)
Once in Bios Setup, locate Setup Defaults (sometimes called Optimized Defaults)
Apply it, then Save and Exit Bios Settings (which is usually F10, but it will tell you in the Bios Settings screen)

If that doesn't help try reming and re-seating your Ram cards (even your hard drive)
You can download your Manual to find the locations of these components, but they are usually located under the laptop, under the covers

If it is your Video card (onboard) then that was be a big concern
You may need to locate the disassemble guide online, then blow out all internal dust

It may also require a CheckDisk scan
You can read HERE on how to do that outside Windows

Thanks!

Try using Sysinternals Autoruns.
It lists a lot more than msconfig.

You can download the Sysinternals Suite, or just the Autoruns utility.

Hi.
Not sure I understand how you could perform a factory reset if you don't have the recovery partition available. You should have gotten an error that the ASUS Recovery Partition could not be found.

You would need to get to a working computer and download either the Media Creation Tool for W10, or the current ISO from MSTechBench. You can use RUFUS to create a bootable flash drive, and then install W10 that way.

You might also want to check the health of your hard drive, to make sure it's not failing.

Hope that helps!

Even in this motherboard, it should detect the sound card regardless of what sound source is set as default and then allow me to install it and set it as default (without messing about with the BIOS)?
Maybe my sound card has died when moving it from the last computer - Static death.....................

Followup: I was able to fix it and thought I'd post this info since it might help others who might have the same problem. After reading through dozens of pages here and in the ASUS forums, I discovered that one of my default BIOS setting mysteriously ended up in a non-default state. For some reason, the RAID option for Silicon Image was set to RAID. That's fine for those how actually want to setup RAID but I didn't plan to use RAID at the time. After making the change to the BIOS, I had to install Windows XP again to get everything registered correctly. Once Windows was up and running, I avoided the motherboard chipset install CD all together by using only the newest versions of all the motherboard drivers directly from the ASUS website. Problem solved!

Hello I have in my possession an Asus X CA laptop which was running Windows before it failed to boot The machine cycled through the automatic repair failed and then using Unable recovery X550CA DVDs Asus restore Asus to did nothing The advanced bootup options were useless including chkdsk sfc and the usual suspects The recovery partition was apparently missing atleast I couldn't use it but doing a diskpart confirmed it was there so I suspect the upgrade broke the link to it I tried the quot refresh your PC quot Unable to restore Asus X550CA using Asus recovery DVDs option but this told me the drive was locked and disabling secure boot via the BIOS did nothing thought it would at first In addition the reset your PC option wanted recovery media which I didn't Unable to restore Asus X550CA using Asus recovery DVDs have at the time I ordered the official Asus recovery DVDs as the laptop did not have media created when it was new hit F and went to the quot reset your PC' option but it told me the recovery media wasn't valid Odd given it's official Asus media from Mentor Media for that specific machine From the legacy BIOS I booted from the DVD it loaded the Asus specific Windows recovery options from the disk and I get as far as quot Start rebuild Windows system process quot with quot processing quot underneath and the machine does no more I've also tried UEFI booting from the DVD drive and get the same as above Any suggestions welcome please Regards

A:Unable to restore Asus X550CA using Asus recovery DVDs

Is the ASUS recovery media Windows 8.0 or 8.1? It may be because the recovery disks are 8.0 and it's a conflict because your now running 8.1. The 8.0 to 8.1 upgrade does break the factory recover feature on some laptops. ASUS for sure I think. I have a K75DE, that shipped with Windows 8.0. I clean installed with Windows 8.1 from here, Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help. It reads and uses my 8.0 OEM embedded code and activates online automatically. no muss no fuss. That tool will create a bootable USB thumb drive that will work with UEFI for you. If you need any more info just ask and i'll see if I can help. I don't know why your getting the "Start rebuild Windows system process" message and the lock up? It may be because the partition structure has changed on the Drive. I created a Recovery drive, then swapped in an SSD and it would not work on the SSD. It kept saying required partition missing. That's why I bailed and did a clean install. I was leaning in that direction anyway.

EDIT: If I don't get back to you tonight don't panic. I have company coming and may not get back online until tomorrow morning. Have to go now.

Well I am having some weird problems with my Asus Motherboard. It is a A7N8X-X

Running Amd athalon 2500+ Chip.

I have replaced basically everything.

I have new Memory, Hard Drive, Power Supply, PCI Cards, AGP Graphics Card.

The only things I have not replaced have been the CPU and the actual MB. So is there a program that will do a very thorough testing of the CPU and MB to tell me if there are any problems?

It is doing random reboots, and lockups. I thought it was everything I replaced already, but no luck. I have reinstalled XP several times.

Have run many spyware, adware, virus checkers with no results showing anything.

Any programs like that?

You will need a bios flash to get the latest supported processors.

I put together a new system with an Asus Z87-c Core i5 processor and new DDR3 memory. I used the hard drives and DVD drive from an old system (motherboard had died on that computer). The C drive has XP installed and was working fine in that old system.
As soon as xp starts to load I get a bsod with the following:
Stop : 0x0000007e ( 0xc0000005, 0xf75fe0bf , 0xf789e208 , 0xf789df08 )
pci.sys - address F75FE0BF base at F75F7000, Datestamp 3b7d855c

I get the same result if I try to reinstall XP from the CD

Other forums seem to say this must be a hardware problem, BUT I can load and run a version of linux perfectly ok.

I need Windows to use mapping software I use, I'm thinking I should get Win 7 to replace the old XP, do you think that will load and work ok?

Thanks!

A:XP won't load on new Asus Z87-c motherboard

I can tell you that if you take a hard drive out of one computer with Windows on it and then try to put that into a different computer, it will not work.

I found this thread here: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...f78da208/08bac46d-55b5-472b-8bad-c0dc227359a8

Based on the error code, it seems that there could be a problem with the RAM. Step number 4 in the answer provides a link to Memtest to download and run on the computer. You should have a built in Memory test that you can access at boot from the advanced boot options screen. You will have to use an f key to get there. The f key differs, so you will have to try them and find out which one it is.

If it is a problem with the RAM, take it out and then put it back in, making sure it is fully seated.

I don't know exactly what settings you are referring to, but ASUS has one thing that is different than all other brands. If you need to get into Safe Mode. Most brands are F8, but with ASUS you need to boot and hit F5 and it brings you to a menu and then you hit F8 which goes to Safe Mode. You need to remember that because it is very hard to find on Google or other Search Engines.

I just got a Asus K8V SE Deluxe motherboard that I'm using with the recommended Kingmax 512 MB memory and an Athlon 64+ 3000+ processor. I can start it up if I reset the CMOS, but after that and adjusting settings in the BIOS it just goes black screen and shuts off shortly afterwards.

It says something about the VCore voltage being wrong. I really have no clue what I'm doing and am looking for the appropriate settings for the BIOS on this computer. Any help would be appreciated.

A:ASUS P5K motherboard for Win7

Okay...you also want to install Windows Vista? You will need a Windows Vista installation DVD and applicable product key for activation to cover that

Alright...I looked at ASUS and no downloads were found for Windows 7 and your P5k...but this doesn't mean the end

If you are running Windows 7 x86 (32-bit)...install the Vista drivers (they normally work) here: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

If you are running Windows 7 x64 (64-bit)...install the Vista drivers (they normally work) here: ASUSTeK Computer Inc.

EDIT: Just saw that those two links go to the same place...click on one and choose either Vista x86 or Vista x64

I was really bored the other night, started looking at Asus' Z77 offerings (again), and realized what a hassle it was to click on all those web pages to compare specs and features, seeing as they currently sell 17 different Z77 sku's, so I came up with this quick reference guide.

Here's my problem, I can't get on the internet. Simple fix I thought, WRONG.
For some reason my IP is coming up at 192.254.157._ (w/ a subnet of 255.255.0.0)

Yet my router is set for scheme: 192.168.1._ (subnet: 255.255.255.0)

What would be causing this. My Motherboard is an ASUS a8n-sli deluxe, I may have flashed to bios w/ a beta they were doing, is there any way to roll it back??
As well as programs are constantly hanging and I am forced to do a hard reboot to get my system back up.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, Im new here but I was needing some information regarding motherboard drivers from asus. I recently reloaded my computer and then relised i didnt have asus drivers for me computer on a disc, so I need to find which ones I need. My question is how do I find out which motherboard I have? Will Everreal detect the Motherboard even if I dont have the drivers installed on my computer. Also, If it does wil it just detect a motherboard or will it actually tell me which one it is? I dont see how it could without drivers on the computer but maybe you could clarify better for me.

A:Asus Motherboard drivers

The mother ID is embossed on the motherboard. Go to the ASUS site, and post that ID for the motherboard. Then you will be given access to a site where you can download the Chipset, and other drivers ASUS lists.

I have the above motherboard. I have been using a video card which is three years old and thought I would try out the integrated video before my video card died. I switched it in the Bios and switched the monitor cable and it started fine on integrated video. The only thing is that the first screen where I can enter Bios does not show, so I am unable to enter the Bios. I tried hitting the delete button on the blank screen but nothing happens. I was able to shut down the PC and switch back to the video card, so I am OK. Does anyone have any idea why the first screen doesn't show on integrated? Thanks,

My new mobo and its accompanying DVD were working fine with one exception; 2 older cd's (on IDE cable and connector) from my previous computer; which held my dearest programs, were now non- existant. The ASUS cd hinted that another boot program might be the answer. Having been away from computers for 10 years I stupidly embarked on this quest. The result: no boot. Can anyone suggest a cure or a cd (preferably not ASUS), or anything which will help me?
Thank you !

A:mx4000 on asus Motherboard?

Your mobo has an AGPx4 slot and will accomodate that new card without any problems.
That card is AGPx8/x4/x2 compatible, so no problems.
Check if there is a jumper on the mobo, or a setting in the BIOS, to switch off the onboard graphics. Some mobos switch it off automatically when you insert an AGP card.
Before you put the card in, uninstall the current graphics drivers and load the most basic, windows-own VGA drivers. Then switch off and do the swap.

A:Asus P5K-E / WiFi-AP motherboard

Solid base: Yes. That is a very nice motherboard.

Trouble with assembly: No. Everything you've chosen so far is 100% compatible.

Dual-core better: Not necessarily. There aren't many applications that take advantage of all 4 cores, so if you can find a better price on a dual-core, you might want to consider it. Otherwise the quad-core is a good choice.

Powerbox: The item you're referring to is called a power supply, or PSU for short. The 'rails' refer to the amount of power capable of being distributed at each voltage type used by the computer.

Here's a good example of a nice PSU at a respectable price that is more than powerful enough for most needs:

Hello all,
I had Nt installed and used the upgrade option to win2k. All my devices worked in NT, but now I am in the final stretch of installing 2000 pro server and I keeps on freezing halfway through the hardware detection part.

I removed all devices except CDROM, gen. floppy, and geforce 256 ddr video and Asus K7M board.

i couldn't find K7M under win2k device compatibility, but it worked fine in NT.

Do you think this is a compatibility issue?

ps. I have win98 installed on the last partition and it is working fine, so I don't think it's hardware.

Until then,

I have this board with an amd ATHLON 11 X3 455 . 8gb ddr3 ram .I thought it was kinda sluggish , so I tried to take advantage of 1 of its features ie. unlock the cores in the CPU . You hold down key 4 on boot up .However it booted up and on completing the boot up it showed that the cores were unlocked(a window came up saying so) a few seconds later and BSOD . I rebooted a couple of timed still the same so I reversed the procedure and is now ok . however I'd like to be able to do what I set out to do . Any advice ?

My Asus MB (M4A89GTD PRO/USB3) is about 5 years old. I have successfully upgraded from Win 7 Pro to Win 10. However, running on Win 10 my PC frequently locks up and has to be re-booted. As a result I down-graded to Win 7 and now all is ok. ASUS does not include this board in the list of Win 10 compatible boards but they state that it might achieve compatibility in the future.
I would like to avoid purchasing a new board and removing/replacing my existing board. If there is no way to make my existing board work with Win 10 could you suggest a good replacement AMD board - I am not a gamer.
Any one got a good suggestion.

A:ASUS Motherboard compatibility

Next time you upgrade to Windows 10, try also updating the chipset and graphics drivers directly from AMD. This should fix the freezing problems.

Hey everyone,
I need to determine what my motherboard is ASAP. I'll give you everything I know about it, but I've been searching the web and haven't been able to find anything...

ASUS Brand, it came in a HP Pavilion
Pentium 4 (Not sure what slot)
4 DDR RAM Slots
1 PCI-E x16 Slot
3 PCI Slots
Orange/Yellow in colour.
RAM Slots are Blue, Red, Blue, Red

The reason I need to know is I have no idea how to configure my System Panel Connectors, as I am trying to fit the board into a new case.

Thank you in advance for your help,

A:Asus A8N SLI Deluxe Motherboard

All right so you are going with the 939! If you really want THE best processor, go either AMD 64 fx57 or 4800 x2. They will both cost you about a $1000.
If you want to stay around the $350 mark, the 90nm 64 3700 is a good choice.
As far as Hard drives go, reccomend a 7200 rpm 8mb cache SATA, if you go Seagate you can even get native command queing! Two of these in a raid 0,1 and you have a OS that runs like you put it on a 20,000 rpm hard drive.(not quite but it is damn fast and safe.)
I would say go for Pro if you won't upgrade to Longhorn, home if you will upgrade. If you want to be safe and don't mind everything not running perfectly everytime. Go SUSE or Redhat Linux.
RAM, don't go generic. PNY, Kingston are good, I can't remember if this board supportd dual channel or not, but if it does make sure you buy in pairs to get the best performance.
Scatter brained approach to helping, sorry but I hope I helped

Reusing old CPU on ASUS A8N-VM Motherboard

I have an ASUS A8N-VM Motherboard that I want to install on a new computer with an old
an old AMD Athlon XP 2800+. I also bought an AMD 3000+ Socket 939. So I have a few questions.

Can I use the 2800+ instead and return the 3000+? Can I buy a socket 939 adapter if I need it for the 2800+. is the 2800+ an AMD64 also? If I reuse the 2800+ how would I wipe off the old thermal paste to apply the new one? Would the Vantec thermal paste I have left over work fine? Are there any guides on installing old CPUs I can use as a reference?

Thanks
