Preferred Solution: compatible laptop screens

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Solved: blue screens black screens green screens

The issues sound a bit like a hardware failure, the blue STOP screen could be hardware or software.

The Black screen sounds like the PC has died, but the power supply continues to run. This could well be hardware.

Both issues could be something like overheating of the CPU (are all fans running, is the CPU fan dust clogged - shouldnt be if it's "new")?

If it's "new" and under warranty, take it back.

It would have helped to know if it was a desktop or laptop though.

A:white screens, black screens, blue screens... out of nowhere!

OK, I have read you last thread and sounds like you made some progress.

Lets see the details of the Blue Screen, follow this guide to attach it to your next post.

First locate your minidump files, they are usually found by clicking on your C: drive, in Windows Explorer, then click on Windows to view the contents. If your operating system is installed under a different drive letter then look there. They should be stored under a file called minidump. The files will have a .dmp extension.
Zip up at least 6 of the most recent files into one zip folder and save on your desktop (if there are less then just zip up what you have).
NOTE To zip up a file in Windows (all versions). Right-click the file or folder, click on Send To, and then click Compressed (zipped) Folder and save it to your desktop.
Open Windows Explorer, click on Desktop in the left column so you can see the zip file. In the left column click on C: > Windows > Minidump and then drag & drop any additional .dmp files into the zip folder.

• Below the Message Box click on Go Advanced. Then scroll down until you see a button, Manage Attachments. Click on that and a new window opens.
• Click on the Browse button, find the zip folder you made earlier and doubleclick on it.
• Now click on the Upload button. When done, click on the Close this window button at the bottom of the page.
• Enter your message-text in the message box, then click on Submit Message/Reply.Click to expand...

Just re-posting the link for your last thread as you didn't post it correctly: http://forums.techguy.org/hardware/1013195-extremely-loud-fan-crazy-temperature.html

hi,

i'd like to add a screen to my laptop and use 2 of them as if it was one.
I tried but with the functions all i got was to have one screen doing the exact things the other screen was doing....
so how can i set 2 screens as a unique?
also, they are different screens, different brands, so i noticed that with the settings of one, the other one wasnt working properly.... how can i standardize them?

thank you!

I have an older laptop.. it's a Lenovo ThinkPad T41 2379.

I want to put a new HDD in it... since it only has a 40G and I have filled it up.

It's the kind that sits on a little platform thing and slides out when you unscrew the screw. There is NO cable, SATA, ribbon or otherwise. It just looks like an IDE connection that you plug the HDD directly into.

If I were shopping in a store I could find this by looking at it, but I have no idea what it's called and want to order one from newegg.com.

Can anyone tell me what it's called "technically", or provide a newegg link?

Boy I am just not laptop hardware savvy. lol

Thanks in advance.

A:Need Compatible HDD for Laptop

It would be an IDE laptop drive.
There is probably an adapter on the IDE connection of the drive
to adapt it to the laptop.
The adapter will need to be removed and installed on the new drive.
You dont want to get a drive that is larger than your hardware can handle.
If it can do 40GB,it will probably handle a 120GB drive.
There should be screws in the side of the hard drive carrier you remove
to remove the drive from the carrier.

My old laptop had WinXp and it wasnt working so i sent it in for repair:
they told me it would cost to much for them to repair so my warranty got me a new laptop:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage....=1213046768588

problem is that it has vista, I would personally like to "upgrade" to windows Xp Pro
or
Xp Pro x64 bit edition

I was wondering with the specs if everything was winXP compatible

A:New laptop- is it XP compatible?

XP is compatible with anything that runs Vista. Vista is a lot more demanding, the part that wouldn't be compatible is the drivers. I have a toshiba laptop that came with Vista, and I do want XP on it, but my problem, ther is no driver on XP for the wireless card. So I either give up the wireless card, figure out how to make a driver for it (probably will never happen), or hope they eventually come up with one. The only reason that my driver wouldn't work is that the wireless card is se up differently then most I think so there isn't a driver for it except through Toshiba and they don't support XP for this laptop since I last checked, not too long ago.

The best way to check this is to go to the companies support site and see if the drivers for everything work with XP.

I did just check the website and it doesn't seem like they support XP either, so it can be a hit or miss then. You can try setting up XP as a dual boot (like I did) to test it. You can also call them or write to them and ask them, they may have a better answer than I do. I never used an Asus product before so I don't know too much about them.

XP Pro will be easier than XP 64 since a 64 bit OS has less drivers avalibale (just not as commonly used yet).

i am buying a laptop and an wonder what is the best screen for quality and crispness can you tell me the rang of best screens and what to look for in a screen for example samsung has SuperBright 300 nit Anti-reflective HD (1366 x 768) LED

A:laptop screens quality help

The screen size depends on the usage of your computer. If you want to use for browsing, MSOffice etc. then a 14" or 15" screen is sufficient. If you watch lots of movies then better go for a screen larger than 17" with 16:9 aspect ratio.

The Screen quality depends on your budget. If you have good budget, go for full HD (1080i) resolution screens with LED backlit. The latest LED backlit screens provide brighter images with low power consumption. Otherwise you can go for a (720p) screen for low cost. It is better to get a matt finish screens which are antireflective rather than glossy finish.

Hey guys!

This time I'm on a friend's Pavilon G series laptop.
Lately, whenever we put it to sleep mode and want to wake it up, it usually goes into a blue screen.

This time however, I was just playing world of tanks with my stunning 7 fps [I hate laptops. SO.MUCH.], when it decided to blue screen on me.

I have absolutely no idea what's causing it and why the sleep mode shenanigans started ,but you good gentlemen might.
I've attached the blue-screen minidump from 15 minutes ago so you smarter ones had something to go on.

Basic information : Windows 7 [Windows 7 basic mode, not aero].
4 GB of RAM
Phenom II N660 Dual-core processor, 3.00 Ghz

http://www.sendspace.com/file/2if03r <=== The minidump file, around 343 KB.

It installed fine, booted for the first time, i was tired so i shut it down and went to bed.

The next morning i turned it on it looked like it was booting fine but then it went straight to start up repair, the start up repair went for about 30 minutes and said no solution could be found. I tried a couple more times, every time the start up repair would take longer to say the same thing, until it simply started blue screening shortly after "Starting Windows".

So i decided to try reinstalling over the top, i put the installation disk in started the setup it loaded files and said "Starting Windows" shortly after it blue screened.

So now i had no clue what was happening, i managed to get into start up repair somehow, don't remember, and got into command prompt, from there i formatted the partition deleting all files on the disk. I then tried to boot to check if the format was successful and it said no bootmgr etc was found, so i determined the hard-drive was now clean.

So i put the installation disk in and booted from it, same thing loaded files, "Starting Windows", blue screen. I have no clue what is going on here and would appreciate any help, i am beginning to think it is a hardware error og some sort.

BTW it is windows 7 build 7068.

I had a similar problem with my Acer laptop with 7068, which seems to have been solved with 7077. If you don't want to download 7077, you might try a fresh burn and install of the 7068 DVD and see if that does the trick. Also, builds 7048 and 7057 behaved well with the Acer. Good luck!

I just picked up a DELL Latitude D610 with a cracked screen (14.1 XGA). Before I purchase a replacement screen is there any way to adapt the screen from my dead DELL Inspiron 4000? The Part Description printouts are as follows:

Latitude D610
Part# J5596
LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY, 14.1 XGA, STANDARD PANEL WORK GROUP B, AU (the rest is cut off the page and now I can't get back into the service tag page )

Inspiron 4000
Part #9C394
Module, Liquid Crystal Display, W/BASE, IBM, EXTENDED GRAPHICS ARRAY, 14K

If this can't happen, where can I find a list of compatible screens? I'm just looking for inexpensive replacement, don't mind buying a used screen.

Thanks!

Not even an issue. SATA3 will clock back to SATA 2 if needed but your laptop is SATA 3. Best consumer SSD is Samsung 850 Evo but others make very good ones, too. SanDisk, Kingston, etc.

I am a bit confused about my ENVY dv6 7300 Quad Edition. In the maintanence manual, it says that it does not support SSDs over 160GB. If this is true, then why? I want to upgrade to an SSD, but I will need more space than a measly 160GB. That doesn't even seem to be big enough for the entire OS.

A:Is my laptop compatible with SSDs?

Hi, You don't need 160GB for any OS on personal computer. One of my laptop has 120GB SanDisk SSD. I use it for Windows 7 Ultimate, Office Plus 2010, Adobe CS5 suite, Nero 10 suite and few other programs and still have 24GB free. Anyway, back to your question: You can use SSD greater (capacity) 160GB. The sweet spot now is 1TB. Regards.

A:Compatible Printer for Laptop?

Kodak has an ad for the "kodak esp 5" which brags on low TCO (Total Cost of Ownership), ie; cheaper inks
This is an All-in-One printer + Copier device and if I had NOT already purchased the
Canon mp470 (pixma fine) which I love, I would go with the Kodak

Hi a new problem this time that I'm desperately hoping somebody could help me with as this is infact not my machine Background HP Pavilion laptop zd running XP proffessional service pack Intel r Pentium R CPU GHz Ghz GB of RAM I appreciate that this laptop is old but its HP after Black booting laptop screens an antique in a way and also much beloved of the friend that I'm borrowing it from so any possible Black screens after booting HP laptop suggestions are warmly welcomed The most likely cause is a virus as I turned off the firewall settings earlier this evening as a sort of experiment it really was the most stupid thing I've ever done I turned the firewall back on after about minutes and around an hour later the whole screen went a rather vivid purple the sound caught in a loop and then the screen went black and unresponsive although the backlighting was still visible Next I held down the power button to turn off the laptop and it automatically began to boot up again The HP logo appeared as expected the Windows XP loading screen followed and then some crazy light show in the right hand corner followed by a black screen Since then I have turned off and restarted the computer a few times minus the quot lightshow quot this time with just a plain black screen no cursor and I can't launch task manager either as other threads have suggested My first thought was to try last good configuration however this led to exactly the same process as before HP intel logo - gt Windows loading - gt black unresponsive screen Next I pressed F whilst booting to get into safety mode Saftey mode boots perfectly on the laptop which is what has left me optimistic enough to look for help From saftey mode I attempted to system restore choosing a save from weeks ago which I know to be perfectly fine I allowed it to complete itself and it all seemed fine the laptop said it was finished and restarted Unfortunately it made no difference whatsoever Its still HP intel - gt Windows loading - gt Black screen I am going to try other save points although I don't really see that that can be the reason that the system restore didn't work The problems with the display the quot lightshow quot seem to have completely stopped and as I believe a virus to be the problem I don't think that the screen is part of the problem at the moment Please could you suggest any steps to take I do not have any discs associated with the laptop and would prefer that this was a very very last resort as that would mean admitting my mistake to my friend and asking him to work it out for me with the disc if indeed this is even a possibility Thankyou so much for reading and any advice or tips or even hunches would be lovely to hear

Hi, Is my HP G62 320 AMD 64bit laptop compatible with 64bit virtualization?  Because I'm running Linux Mint 17.3 XFCE 64bit and Virtual Box, I also enabled SVM from bios.  Other people are telling me I have to enable other options in bios that do not seem to exist in my bios.  I have a 64bit Windows 8 install disc, but Virtual Box is insisting on booting as 32bit and of course Windows 64 is rejecting 32 boot.  My bios seems to be very limited in options.  Or is there a setting in either Mint or Virtual Box that has to be enabled or disabled? I want to install Windows 8 64 into Linux Mint 17.3 XFCE 64, as virtual.

DIANAKD Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I wish I had good news for you -- but I don't ... While Microsoft tells you that there is no risk in the Win10 Upgrade, because they let you believe that you can always revert back to your original OS and setup within 30 days, the ugly fact of the matter is that the Win10 GoBack function has proven to be unreliable -- and when it fails, it can leave machines in a corrupted state -- which doesn't always happen, but it does happen often enough to be a problem and you won't get any warning in advance that it is going to trash your PC!If that is not bad enough, the Win10 Upgrade is know, in some cases, to corrupt the Recovery partition stored there by the OEM that built the original machine. This pretty much guarantees that no HP Recovery is going to work: http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Desktop-Video-Display-and-Touch/HP-Recovery-Manager-Blocked-After-Windo... At this point, the ONLY way to restore her prior OS is through something known as HP Recovery Media. HP Recovery Media is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks. You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded. You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/driversOnce there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Update". If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click the "+" symbol to expand that entry and click on Order Media for details.Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.htmlNOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while! If you have trouble finding a phone number, then try: 1 (800) 474-6836If HP no longer provides Recovery Media for your model, a couple of other sites you can check are: http://www.computersurgeons.com/ and http://www.restoredisks.com/Good Luck

Hey. Firstly, apologies if this is a noob question but any guidance will be helpful.

Basically, i have a LCD monitor connected through HDMI to my laptop and both screens are working at the moment as duplicates.

What i am after is the screens to coincide and for me to be able to drag a window from my laptop to monitor, or vice versa.

When i have the 'extend desktop on 1 and 2' setting selected my laptop works as normal but the monitor screen only shows the wallpaper of my laptop and nothing else.

Is there anything i can do from here to be able to use both screens together or am i simply stabbing in the dark?

Thanks in advance,

Topcat9H.

Hi all,

Purchased a Lenovo G580 yesterday with Windows 8 on and before I give up hope and return this computer I was looking for some advice.

Yesterday throughout the day I was getting blue screens and having to restart the computer - to do with ntoskrnl.exe, igdkmd64.sys, CLFS.SYS, WppRecorder.sys, dxgkrnl.sys. I was advised to check my drivers so I updated what I could find and the Intel website updated a number of drivers.

Now I am not experiencing these blue screens but if I leave the laptop say ten minutes unattended the screen freezes and becomes very pixelated and I have to restart.

Is this likely to be a hardware fault or could there still be some technical tricks I could yet try? I could easily return the laptop but didn't want to uninstall everything and get another if there's something I can yet do.

SYSTEM_THREAD_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED_M (1000007e)
This is a very common bugcheck. Usually the exception address pinpoints
the driver/function that caused the problem. Always note this address
as well as the link date of the driver/image that contains this address.
Some common problems are exception code 0x80000003. This means a hard
coded breakpoint or assertion was hit, but this system was booted
/NODEBUG. This is not supposed to happen as developers should never have
hardcoded breakpoints in retail code, but ...
If this happens, make sure a debugger gets connected, and the
system is booted /DEBUG. This will let us see why this breakpoint is
happening.
Arguments:
Arg1: c000001d, The exception code that was not handled
Arg2: 8ece98e0, The address that the exception occurred at
Arg3: 8ad67c3c, Exception Record Address

When I start my Acer Aspire 5920G, it displays 6 small screens.

- appears in BIOS mode, in Safe Mode, boot in Windows 7 DVD
- removed the Nvidia graphics card, and it became worst, white screen.
- last time I did is watching a internet video and noticed some flickering and sound delays.
- already used repair my computer in Win 7 DVD boot, but the problem persist.

Will post a snapshot of the screen. I still need to figure out to post the picture from my iPad.

A:Multiple Screens displayed when laptop starts

Hello Tormentor15, welcome to SF!

Is the info on those 6 screens correct? Iow, are they 6 replicas of what your normal screen would be?
Take out the 8600 AND check your RAM. Assume you have either 3x1GB or 2GB+1GB? In the latter case, take out the 1 GB.

Start in Safemode if possible and run SFC:
Run a system file check to verify and repair your system files.
To do this type cmd in search, then right click to run as administrator, then
SFC /SCANNOW

Read here for more information SFC /SCANNOW Command - System File Checker

I was watching youtube videos when suddenly laptop flashed between 3 screens one of which was the desktop.
Then "isharpsoft" virus screen comes on.
It just keeps running and I can do nothing.
I think it is a virus and I cannot get it to boot from cdrom.

My laptop has a WXGA TFT Super-Bright screen, and I'm wondering what the best way to clean it is? It's similar to glass in that it shows up finger-prints and all sorts of other marks, and I was not sure what the best material or fluid might be to clean it?

Also, my desktop computer has a standard flat-screen monitor. What's the best method to clean that?

Another blue screen problem - just installed Windows 7 on my 1 month old laptop last week. Now I'm getting random bluescreens every other day. I know the common cause of these would probably be bad RAM but the laptop ran perfectly fine with Windows Vista for a month with no bluescreens at all.

UNEXPECTED_KERNEL_MODE_TRAP (7f)
This means a trap occurred in kernel mode, and it's a trap of a kind
that the kernel isn't allowed to have/catch (bound trap) or that
is always instant death (double fault). The first number in the
bugcheck params is the number of the trap (8 = double fault, etc)
Consult an Intel x86 family manual to learn more about what these
traps are. Here is a *portion* of those codes:
If kv shows a taskGate
use .tss on the part before the colon, then kv.
Else if kv shows a trapframe
use .trap on that value
Else
.trap on the appropriate frame will show where the trap was taken
(on x86, this will be the ebp that goes with the procedure KiTrap)
Endif
kb will then show the corrected stack.

That's not a stupid question at all. I don't know all that much about the configuration of laptop screens, but I think as long as they plug into the motherboard it should be fine. This is basically just a guess, though.

If you go over what was installed there might be a bios limitation for large drive support.
Basicly it might not see the full drive

2. What determines whether a drive -- say a Hitachi XXX-XXX -- will be compatible? (I realize size is one factor - it has to be the 9.5mm x 2.5in like mine is; and, of course voltage) But what else must I look at?

I'm troubleshooting a laptop for a friend that can't find his charger for a Aspire 5560. I thought I had a spare charger but I don't have a compatible charger that fits this model. My first question is, where can I find a compatible charger that fits this model and charges at 19.5V? Is there an all in one of interchangeable power pack I can purchase?  My second question is, can I power the battery another way? thanks!

My laptop is having an issue wherein it lags for 10-15 minutes on the shutdown screen before coming up with a BSOD. In addition, the network adapter will work for a short time before disconnecting and saying that there are no connections to be found. If the computer restarts, I can troubleshoot issues with the adapter, and it will work for a short time before disconnecting again. I don't know if the two are related, but it's been extremely frustrating. Any help is appreciated, thanks!

I've just received a new laptop in the last few days, however I'm encountering BSODs at random intervals. The laptop was a custom build by PCSpecialist, I've contacted their support, but as I'm not sure where the issue might lie I thought I'd post here.

When the laptop first booted it blue screened, however this hasn't recurred, Neverwinter always blue screens during start up, and then it's happened once while using Spotify and once while sorting out a second monitor (although this has worked fine since).

I ran Prime95 for a while with no issues, on both high-CPU and high-memory torture tests. However the Heaven benchmark blue screened during loading.

I've attached the information grabbed by the SF Diagnostics Tool. Let me know if there's anything else I can provide, thanks!

This occurs especially during games, my native resolution is 1366x768 but whenever I choose a
lower resolution than that in games, the size of the game on the screen becomes smaller than my
laptop's display/screen (15.6"). Why does this happen? Is it a laptop issue only? My older laptop had the same problem.
Is there a way to fix this?

PS: I have the latest graphics drivers.

Thx in advance!

A:Lower resolutions make smaller screens on my laptop

Ok, solved!! The solution was simple, all I had to do was go into my Intel graphics settings and set it to scale Full Screen instead of 16:9. Now all my games are in full screen regardless of their resolutions.

Hi all,

I have just purchased a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ140E from a friend which had vista on it. I was initially just going to do a system wipe for him and give it back from him to sell, then he told me he was only looking to get a hundered out of it >> MINE.

This laptop will replace my netbook with the annoyingly slow hyperthreaded 1.6. Only problem is they don't supply Windows 7 drivers, only Vista.. and only 32-bit. I have attached a full specification sheet from Piriform's Speccy, and a device manager screenshot with what I don't think Windows 7 will pick up automatically expanded.

A:Help finding compatible drivers for laptop with only vista supplied

If you still have Vista on it, run the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor

The Win7 installer is mostly driver-complete, with newer arriving quickly via optional Windows Updates. Enable hardware driver auto-updating to assure this: Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware

Any drivers then missing in Device manager can be found on the Support Downloads webpage for computer model - Vista drivers will work ok - or for the Device itself.

You qualify for Upgrade version with Vista OEM, but I'd wipe the HD to get the cleanest possible install: SSD / HDD : Optimize for Windows Reinstallation

If you install to wiped HD, the installer will issue a 100mb System Reserved boot partition which conveniently places the Repair Console (normally only on the DVD or Repair CD) on the F8 Advanced Boot Tools menu. So I would choose Custom Install and then Drive Options to partition as you wish and format: Clean Install Windows 7

Leave the Product key blank during install if you wipe the HD, then afterwards do the quick registry workaround given in this tutorial to allow activation with upgrade version key: Clean Install with a Upgrade Windows 7 Version

Install updates and then programs slowly over time to gauge performance after each. Don't let any programs write themselves into msconfig>Startup as they slow startup, become freeloaders on your RAM/CPU and can spy on you. I only allow AV and gadgets. Startup Programs - Change

Use a lightweight free AV like MS Security Essentials which works perfectly with Windows 7 Firewall. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/

When it is finished, clean and order the HD perfectly using state-of-the-art free CCleaner then Auslogics Disk Defragger monthly.
CCleaner - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET Download.com
http://download.cnet.com/Auslogics-D...-10567503.html

Then save a Windows 7 Backup image externally so you never have to reinstall again, just reimage the HD or replacement using DVD or Repair CD. Backup Complete Computer - Create an Image Backup

MY mother has a Dell Laptop with Windows Vista. After the computer being on a bit the fan starts making this horrible sound and sometimes the she gets the blue screen and causes the computer to restart. Anyone ever seen or heard of this?

A:Dell laptop makes horrible noise then blue screens

Hmm, interesting.

Does the laptop appear to be getting hotter and hotter as you use it? Are you sure that the fan is actually spinning/the cause of the sound.

Sounds to me like the fan could be faulty. I've also had large clumps of dust (Large enough to stop the fan spinning) caught in the fanblades, meaning I had to disassemble the laptop to resolve the issue.

You could try giving the fan/air filter a blow out with compressed air and see what happens/if it improves. Also make sure that the fan is actually spinning to start with.

What does the noise sound like also?

win7- 64bit on Sony VPCEE31FX Vaio a couple years old.
using external Dell monitor successfully for a couple years.
Starting today, I get blackouts, about 2 seconds duration, maybe 2 per hour, and each time I get a Desktop Windows Manager alert in the Task Bar.
When I click View Problem Details, I get event: APPCRASH and Application Name: DWM.exe.

I did some searching and found a suggestion to run a SFC scan to check for any corrupted files. I did and it found no difficulties.

Today I also had two Blue-Screens come up. The messages stay up maybe 15 seconds, so I couldn't copy much. First one suggested running Memory Check, which I would do if I could find it. I searched my computer and found no Memory Check. I ran Windows Memory Diagnostic Tool and found no memory errors.

The second one said System Service Exception.

Not sure what to try next...........

For the last few weeks I have been unable to put my computer to sleep for transport or other general reasons When I do it appears to be fine but when I open it up and tell it to wake up then it either comes on and blue screens straight away or it comes on as though it's going to work fine but there is a spike in CPU usage according to the desktop gadget and then in the next few minutes it either freezes laptop. Blue waking only when appearing Unknown issue; Screens or blue screens If I shut the computer down instead of putting it to sleep then it is fine booting up however when it tries to automatically restart if it Unknown issue; Blue Screens appearing only when waking laptop. has been put on sleep then it sometimes fails to start and Unknown issue; Blue Screens appearing only when waking laptop. suggests launching start-up repair If I select start normally then it usually is ok but if I turn the computer off for a few seconds and then try to boot it as normal then it is always ok Once the computer is running it never shows any signs of a problem and can run for an entire day without issue There are no speed issues and there are no programs which don't work If it is relevant so far these blue screens have had at least different titles including 'INTERRUPT EXCEPTION NOT HANDLED' 'BAD POOL HEADING' and 'IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL' I can't remember the others right now Basically I was just wondering if this is an issue I should be worried about getting worse because right now I can deal with shutting the computer down every night until I can get a new machine in October but if it's going to get worse then I want to be prepared or fix it preemptively

A:Unknown issue; Blue Screens appearing only when waking laptop.

FYI:
My system is 2 years old in August.
It had its hard-drive replaced about a year ago.
The OS was originally installed on the laptop, I assume (obviously) that it was reinstalled when the new HDD was put in so the installation is ~ 1 year old.

My girlfriend s mom s laptop was having this problem with the resolution of her screen It would boot to the win XP login screen with the normal x resolution but then once you got past the login screen screens, blue LAPTOP safe Screen DELL mode nothing, shows LCD it would flicker and switch to x LCD Screen shows nothing, safe mode blue screens, DELL LAPTOP I looked in display settings and saw that there were two display setups One LCD Screen shows nothing, safe mode blue screens, DELL LAPTOP was Default monitor on Intel integrated graphics and the other was Plug and Play monitor on Intel integrated graphics The Default monitor one was the one which was set to x the P amp P monitor was defaulting to x So what I did was probably stupidly uninstalled both monitors and both display adapters intel integrated graphics was listed twice in device manager once with LCD Screen shows nothing, safe mode blue screens, DELL LAPTOP - at the end and the other had - and rebooted The windows XP load up screen displayed the one with the moving progress bar and then the screen would go blank I tried connecting a monitor to the VGA out port and the monitor had the same screen as the LCD screen I know it s not frozen though because if I hit the up arrow and then enter it logs in and makes the login noise and then if I hit the power button it turns itself off with the turn off noise When I try to go to safe mode it gives a blue screen and before I even have a chance to see what it says all I see is a flash of blue it reboots itself I can t disable that setting because I can t get into windows What can I do I thought that by uninstalling all the video drivers windows would install a default video driver or just reinstall the video drivers it had from the get-go Thanks for ANY and ALL replies nbsp

Hi Matti23,

Welcome to Seven forums.

It could be an issue with an update or software installed by you recently. Perform a system restore:

System Restore

Also, Press Windows +P together and you should be able to find duplicate option there. Let us know if you select duplicate then what happens.

Keep us posted with the results so we can advise you further.

I had a better card in the PC and was running the AMD catalyst drivers.
I took that card out and put in the x1300.

Several times noticed some weird effects.
Then today I powered down cause it was pink, and it refused to turn on the screen.
So I let it sit and it is working again.

I did not uninstall catalyst AMD drivers, is that a problem? the x1300 is not a supported video card.

If it is a problem, then are the AMD drivers destroying the card? (terminating the old technology to make you get new technology)

Hi there .. It is more than likely the Card you Installed is faulty .. When you Installed that Card Windows would try to find a Driver for it .. Its a pretty old Card i know there are some Vista Drivers available for it .. Not sure about 64 Bit Drivers though ..

Hi, I am running Windows 7 on my Acer Aspire 5741 laptop. I have dual monitors running. One of them is going through the VGA output of my laptop and the other is going through a USB to VGA adapter. Neither of my monitors are HDMI ready, unfortunately. This has worked for a couple of years but in the USB to VGA monitor, there is now a black square around my cursor that is really annoying. I am guessing it must be some setting that I accidentally changed or that my cat changed by running across my keyboard.Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

See http://www.techtalkz.com/windows-7/516137-how-change-mouse-settings-windows-7-a.html and try restoring your mouse pointer back to what you want.

Check the system Properties \ Startup and Recovery. Is the wright debug info set to Small Memory dump or Kernel Memory dump. You need it set to Small Memory dump to have a minidump log file in C:\Windows\minidump It would be best to have that file to see whats going on.

How did you calculate PSU power? Seems a bit low...?

Could you please upload as instructed here even though you don't have dumps?

I recently have been getting blue shutdown screens on my laptop. I will give you plenty of information about my computer. I put all the information about the Blue screen dump files and my System Information file in an attachment. I hope this helps. I recently found out you could save the System Information file as a text and also as an .exe. This should help diagnose the problem! This is how it happens, I will be using my computer and then the computer will become very slow and unresponsive. It is not completely unresponsive but it will be so slow that I cannot use it, then after about 3 minutes of this slow unresponsiveness the blue screen will show up and say driver power state failure and shutdown. I recently formatted the computer because it had been doing this before so I restored it back to factory defaults about one month ago.

Where can I get (and how can I install) bootskins and logon screens for Windows 7....

Preferably an official (or official looking) FBI or CIA or NCIS or one of those other cool Agencies......

and just any cool or decent boot screen that isnt officially a boring windows boot screen (Like the glowing balls of color that swirl around and then form the Windows Flag...)

Any help, comments, suggestions, insults, compliments, advice, anything at all, is welcome.

A:Boot screens and logon screens....

What boot screen are you talking about? Where I work we have no "Agency" specific boot screen. It is just the default Windows Logon/Boot Screen. If you one of those ones you see in the movies, then you are out of luck.

To activate the dual screens I have to hold down the window Icon and then press (p) to bring up window Icon allowing me to these extend, which allows me to use each monitor separately. How do I set it where the "extend" option is the default every time I open up my computer.

A:I have dual screens how do I get Windows 10 to accept dual screens (extend) as default

There doesn't seem to be an option built-in for this.. Would be a great feature for MS to implement in a next update tho

Does anyone have a new laptop that uses the 'glossy' Brightview technology? It is common with HP and Toshiba models that I have seen lately.

My concern is that the screen would be very reflective or mirror-like, and you would get distracting reflections from lights, windows, and see yourself in the screen.

Any experience with this in the group?
