Sound Card Did Not Work. Maybe Motherboard?

Q: Sound Card Did Not Work. Maybe Motherboard?

Hello My sound chip on my board was blew for no reason bad thing only being a month old bored and I am not waiting days to rma it and for me to get it back anyway I managed to pick up a old sound card not sure on the model Motherboard? Work. Not Maybe Did Sound Card that worked fine for three days then stopped outputing audio so I bought a sound card intex cmi that did not have the bit wndows dirvers and everytime I turned the computer off the machine would not detect the card I then I have to press the reset button or turn the system a few times to get the card to be recognized again and I could not also find the drivers for the OS Sound Card Did Not Work. Maybe Motherboard? I checked at the back of the cards box and it says bit pci bus master What does the mean could that be that the card was not compatible for the stystem or could it be the motherboard I tried a nvidia video card in the Sound Card Did Not Work. Maybe Motherboard? PCI-E slot and the card works fine with no faults The sound card was using the PCI slot and I tried every PCI slot My Motherboard asrock fm a x extreme Thanks nbsp

Preferred Solution: Sound Card Did Not Work. Maybe Motherboard?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Sound Card Did Not Work. Maybe Motherboard?

I tested in a very old card from 2001 or 2004 something like that and it appears there's power going through the card so that's the plus.
Maybe it's because I'm using old crap and the sound card model is old?

Well it's pretty much what the subject says. I was thinking about buying a new soundcard for my computer but my motherboard already has a soundcard built into it. Would there be a way for me to add a new soundcard?

A:new sound card but old sound card built into motherboard

yes of course, all you have to do is disable the mobo sc from the BIOS and install the new one. if you have any software that was installed for the mobo sc just uninstall it and make sure u remove it from the device manager.

motherboard is MK8T89-000LC
Sound Card is SBLive! (WDM) Audio Device
OS is Windows 7
After I installed Windows 7, the soundcard I was using couldnt be used. I dont wish to buy a new sound card if i dont have to, so I am wondering if I could get my onboard sound to work. can someone help me out? thanks.

A:motherboard sound not working, sound card not recognize, help please

It sounds as though the driver for the sound card doesnt work on windows 7. Also I think that the driver for the motherboard audio will most likely not work either. It is hard to find drivers for windows 7 because hardly any one is using it yet. Have a look for your sound card drivers and see if they are ok to be used on windows 7.

Hey I am thinking about buying a video card. I want to play games like Doom 3, Quake, and other high end games. First of all, will this video card be able to handle games like Doom 3.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1929950&Tab=0&NoMapp=0

Second of all, I want to make sure the PCI Express will be able to work with my motherboard, here's the motherboard I use, I know it's not the best, but if it works with PCI Express, I am fine.
http://www.qdigrp.com/qdisite/eng/products/S4FX.htm

That's the motherboard I use, and was wondering if it would work with the card I want above. If it doesn't would it be too much to ask if someone can find me a good video card which will handle games like FEAR and Doom 3 that are under $200.00? Thanks in advance.

A:Will this card work with motherboard.

No you need an Agp8X card not a pci-express card.

The problem might just be the new board, it may not support the sound card, or maybe it really isn't plugged in all the way.

Happened to me with my Firewire card took me forever to put the dump thing in I keep pushin and pushin, but not to hard because you'll break the card and you don't want to do that.

so just keep pushin slowly it may look like it is in but it probably really isn't

I hope creative can help you with your problem.

Or ot may be the new processor/ board combination, why didn't you just get the Atholon 64 instead of the Septeron 64.

I don't think many cards are compatible with that

I'm currently looking at a computer, considering purchasing it.
It has an ASUS A8N32-SLI Deluxe Socket 939 NVIDIA nForce SPP 100 ATX AMD motherboard, and also, according to the builder, a Sapphire Radeon X1900XTX 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 VIVO PCI Express x16 video card.

Now, I've also been told that the Radeon video card couldn't work in the motherboard with an nVidia chipset.

So, I'd kind of like to know, can the aforementioned video card work with the aforementioned motherboard?

A:Graphics Card on my Motherboard - will it work?

It won't interfere with the RAM slots.

The components on a PCI-E card mount on the side that's away from the CPU. The 7950 is a dual slot card, so you'd cover the PCI-E X1 slot that's nearest the X16 slot.

Two questions:

What kind of power supply do you have? You'd need at least 500W, with two 6 pin PCI-E auxiliary power connectors.

Can your case handle a card that is 275 mm (10.8") long? The card is longer than the width of your micro-ATX motherboard.

Occasionally when loading up my notebook I am not able to listen to sound from videos, menu sounds etc. This happens about 1/50 boot-ups. My old computer was much the same. This is bearable, but I have recently started using Ventrilo, the voice chat software, and randomly when using it I lose my sound (that is, all computer sounds). That it has this widespread effect is why I believe it to be the fault of the sound card, instead of the Vent software.

I have reinstalled and attempted to update the drivers to the sound card (see my spec list for the make).

Has anyone encountered this problem, and has it been a hardware or software problem? More importantly, how can I fix it?

Thanks

Sound Fix

I went to Radio Shack and picked up an adapter which converts 1/4 single (male) stereo into left/right channel outputs (female), then you can use regular stereo patch chord to the back of the amp. Now I have seperate volume control for both front and rear. It cost me about 10 bucks.

I purchased the Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 Channels 24-bit 96KHz PCI Interface Sound Card, a cheap, $30 card, and was expecting some improvement over my computer's integrated motherboard audio (Dell XPS 420), but I can't really tell the difference between the two. Is it possible for the card not to sound any better than my computer's integrated audio? I'm using the Logitech Z523 2.1 speaker system.

I'm trying to fix my roommates pc and I can't get her sound card drivers installed right.

Creative Labs
Model #: SB0-100
In the driver prop's it's listed as: Creative SB Live! Series(WDM)

It tried downloading the drivers at Creative Labs, but I haven't had any luck. I tried a couple of different driver installs and nothing seems to work. I actually wasn't able to get her pc rebooted after I installed one of them. So I had to reboot with the XP cd in order to get rid of that driver. Now I'm back to no drivers. What can I do here to make sure I'm installing the right driver?

The Sound card will not work because it say there are no more IRQ and I have to get rid of my USB, Printer, or video card, and I need all these. What can I do to get more IRQ or free up IRQ to get everything working?

A:IRQ-Sound Card Won't work

Strange need some info

Go to start/run/type msinfo32 and press enter. Go to the left hand pane, select hardware environment, click on it, select irq's. You should see a listing of your irq assignments in the right hand pane in a few seconds. Now go to the edit menu, choose select all, back to edit menu, select copy, then immediately post the irq list back into this thread.

I really am wondering if you have pnp os selected in the bios of if irq sharing is enabled.

Hi everyone,

I am trying to help a friend out at work by fitting him a new sound card for his PC. The problem is that after I have installed the sound card and drivers I still get no sound through the card but the motherboard sound still works OK.

I'm really stuck to be honest because the sound card shows up in both the device manager and Everest as working fine.

The only thing I can think of is that I might need to disable the onboard sound much like a video card but I don't know how.
Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hi there. I just bought a new pc from Dell. I opted out of buying the SB sound card they had as an option and now I am sorta regretting that. I loaded RC 7100 as soon as I got the machine and after going through this forum I am sorta left with the impression that SB cards don't work with Win 7. Is that really the case?

I was looking at an "Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Sound Card" but if it will just cause me grief it's not worth it. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I can get and not pull my hair out trying to get it to work? The main game I play sounds sorta mediocre with the on-board sound.

Thanks

A:Sound Card? Do any Actually Work?

Any Creative SB card from the Audigy 4 line up through the X-Fi models will work on both the 32bit and 64bit 7. The latest Creative audio console launcher as well as drivers are for W7/Vista for Audigy 4 line.

You simply select the version of Windows and the particular update you are after once you have the SB model series chosen from the page seen at Creative Worldwide Support > Sound Blaster

For the XtremeGamer model used here the manual selector is seen at the bottom of the support page at Creative Worldwide Support > X-Fi XtremeGamer

The entire X-Fi series line up sees 7 support.

One day, the sound suddenly cut out. Since then, it hasn't worked. I had the same dilemma before, but then miraculously, the sound came back. The sound stayed for quite a while, a few months, then it went out again about 2 days ago. Since then, it hasn't worked.

I plugged my speakers into my phone and it worked. So the problem cannot be the speakers. I looked in my Device Manager and I can't find the driver. I tried installing the sound driver, but it tells me this:

"Setup is unable to detect a supported product on your system. Please ensure that your product is properly installed before running this Setup program."

So, my computer isn't detecting the sound card. My sound card is Sound Blaster Live! 24-bit

Btw, I'm running Windows XP

Anyone have any ideas or clues?

A:Headphones only work in USB sound card

I occasionally use a USB sound card (in my case, to get an optical output) on my computer, running XP. Whenever I connect the USB sound card the onboard audio is cut off. I can toggle back and forth between the two outputs using the Control Panel, but it doesn't give me the option to use both outputs simultaneously. I think this is normal operation.

It sounds like you want to run one audio stream to the USB card and a second audio stream to the onboard audio. I don't know if there is any way to force the computer to use two different active audio outputs.

If anyone knows of a way to do this I'd like to know, too.

It may solve the problem, but first, what is the issue (and history) of the sound card you have now? I have recently invested in a new PCI sound card to enable 5.1 surround sound. One problem, after restarting my PC after installing the drivers my onboard Ethernet adapter no longer works. In device manager it has an orange warning triangle on and on the task bar a red 'x'. When I look at the properties it says (Error Code 10)

Please help! I don't want to have to send it back!

Hi all,

I just bought an old Toshiba A210 laptop and I'm dealing with a couple of (minor) problems. As the title says, I've tried every conceivable control, I can't get any sound from the speakers. No hissing sound, nothing, completely silent. Headphones work fine though.

I checked device manager and drivers, it's a Realtek driver, I went to Toshiba and saw that I have the latest driver for Win 7.

Any ideas what kind of problem this is? hardware probably?

This laptop had Win 7 Ultimate installed over Vista.

I probably need to try some nice USB speakers anyway though

Thanks!

Considering its a used laptop, it wouldn't surprise me that one of the reasons it was being sold is the speaker problem.

I can't hear a proper dolby surround with my headphones. I think the reason for this is that the dolby settings of my Asus Xonar Essence STX sound card and Windows 7 are not "synchronized". I just watched a Gears Of War 2 walkthrough video, and weapon fire, explosions and talking, that came from the sides, back or far away, were very low or not audible at all.

OS: Windows 7 32-bit

How can I set this correctly?

TIA

A:Dolby surround of my sound card doesn't work properly

Well; you should be able to hopefully adjust that in the audio properties/settings by right clicking the speaker icon and selecting the sound card and if it is surround like you say; then there should be settings somewhere in there to adjust that. Also, if your sound card came with software like mine did; you might be able to adjust the settings using that as well. I cant say for certain 100% what settings etc. because i dont have the same sound card as you do. Hope this helps ya some. If not, post back and we can go from there.

Hello I m pretty much lost here A while ago I reinstalled windows XP on my parents PC On my next visit they told me there is no sound I checked to see through dxdiag that it does not detect any sound card So I thought I perhaps forgot the sound drivers It has integrated audio chipset and I didn t know exactly which audio drivers to install Tried a bunch some didn t even install and others installed but no sound still audio, drivers sound doesn't No no detect work, card Then I uninstalled audio drivers and just tried to do a windows update That No audio, no drivers work, doesn't detect sound card redirected me to a bunch of sound drivers No audio, no drivers work, doesn't detect sound card tried the newest one - same no sound still And dxdiag still says that there is no sound card After a while I found the driver CD for the motherboard Installed the sound drivers from there and STILL no sound So No audio, no drivers work, doesn't detect sound card I m pretty much stumped Maybe the the hardware is failing The motherboard is relatively new about a year old Any ideas Much appreciated Vlad nbsp

I recently got the Logitech Z-640, and everything seems to work fine, my only question of curiosity is the fact that when something makes a noise, hence, music or windows, you can only hear it from the center, and front left and right speakers, and sub, whereas if you play a dvd of course it is 5.1, and thats the only time i get full use of my speakers.
How do you make ALL the speakers play at the one time?
Help much appreciated

A:How does 5.1 surround work? Logitech Z-640 + Generic sound card- Ectiva

Well the reason only those channels work is becuase most mp3s and music are formated for stereo (2 channels you can press the matrix button on your speakers to have a virtual surrond three speakers playing) and not 5.1. The only time you hear from all five speakers is if the medium you are listening to is either dolby digital or formated for 5.1. THis also depends on the sound card becuase i switched from a audigy sound card to the audigy 2 zs and now i can play all my mp3s in five channels whereas before i could only hear mp3s and music from four speakers and subs, i would have to press the matrix button for the center. ps. i have the same speakers. hoipe this helps...

I'm involved in selecting a new video graphics card for a custom computer I have that has an HP motherboard with one PCI express x16 slot. On looking at various 512Mb boards I see that some of them are PCI express 2.0 x16 instead. Is the 2.0, whatever that distinction is, compatible with and usable with my motherboard/computer, or does the slot and/or other hardware features have to be different to utilize this 2.0 version?

Hello I have a really weird thing going on I have a asus PG D motherboard I m not sure if it s the pro or the normal version but when I compare the pictures of the two motherboards on the Asus website with what mine looks like it looks like a P GD Pro motherboard So when I click on the downloads part of the page dedicated to that motherboard I look for the sound drivers for the onboard sound and the latest ones are very old like But the name of the drivers is Realtek ALC Audio Driver V beta for Windows have do, upgrade motherboard, if don't Can't sound I onboard sound I with Asus a bit XP So to find the latest Can't upgrade onboard sound with a Asus motherboard, if I do, I don't have sound I go on the Realtek website and find the latest drivers for the ALC I uninstall the old ones version and install the new ones version Reboot And then I have no sound When I try to read a audio file it makes the program crash etc So it s really weird since Realtek just says that not getting the drivers from the manufacturer will only cause me to loose the special tools and gadgets from the manufacturer Asus here but that s not a problem I just want to upgrade the drivers Either it s Asus that messed up or I m not getting the correct ones from the website Another weird thing is that inside Everest a program to get infos on my PC and what s in it it says my sound card is a quot Intel FB ICH - High Definition Audio Controller B- quot Also if I look the audio drivers on the asus website for the P GD motherboard the normal not the quot Pro quot version it givres the same name for the audio chipset quot ALC quot so it wouldn t really matter I guess Also i m french so please excuse my english Also being french I tried a website that is quite reliable but in french that scans your PC to see what you have and tells you what drivers you need and where to get them I tried that for the onboard sound and I get the same result no sound If anyone can help that would be great nbsp

A:Can't upgrade onboard sound with a Asus motherboard, if I do, I don't have sound

Just use the ASUS ones, its very unlikely that there have been any updates for years.

A:NO SOUND! The curse of integrated sound in my **** motherboard.

Do you have to enable audio in the BIOS? Check to make sure.

You might have to flash your BIOS.

Why did you feel you had to install SP3? What I mean is, if you've gone this long without it, can you get by without it in the future?

Try to remove SP3. Failing that, maybe you should consider buying a sound card.

My first post so please be patient with me. My PC is a Dell Dimension 8200, (vintage 2002) Pentium 4, 512 cache, 2GB memory, 120GB HD.

I upgraded my OS from Win XP Pro to Win 7 Ultimate in Nov 2010 and my soundcard completely stopped working as being incompatible with Win 7. There are no updating drivers as it is old technology according to the manufacturer (Voyetra Turtle Beach Santa Cruz DSP). Went downtown and bought a replacement and when I tried to install it I found that the connectors didn?t match. The salesman said that Dell uses proprietary connectors therefore I must use a Dell card. Dell doesn?t have any for my outdated system.

So my question is: Will a USB soundcard, (such as the Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Pro or equal) actually solve my problem, i.e., do everything a regular soundcard does? It just sounds too good to be true!

Many thanks for any assistance you can provide.

A:USB sound card replacement for regular sound card?

Did you motherboard come with on-board audio and you added the Turtle Beach sound card or did that sound card come with the PC. Your PC can use a PCI card, not a PCI-express card.

The title pretty much says it all. I'm honestly at the end of my rope. Device manager replies all is well, yet sound stopped working overnight.

It isn't muted,I'm not that oblivious.

I own Advanced System Care Pro ( and consequently, Driver Booster ) so I have already all of my drivers up to date, as well as any other problems I might have had.

Used a bunch of other scanners to figure out the problem to no avail. Plugging some headphones in also doesn't cut it, so it made me think that perhaps the hardware was actually fine and some software conflict was the cause of the problem. I have no freaking clue anymore, should I just get mad and yell at my computer for an hour or so to relieve stress now??

A:Laptop audio refuses to work, all devices work properly, sound isn't muted. Help?

First we need to know the EXACT make and model number of the laptop in question. Secondly the only place you should be looking for drivers for you laptop is the laptop manufacturers support website. Driver scanners really are not helpful.

Sound in windows has been giving me a hard time lately I had to restore my registry manually via the Windows Recovery Console recently because Windows incorrectly Sound work sound and but related correctly, installed features drivers kept thinking it was in safe mode thus preventing a repair installation from continuing So after restoring the registry from an earlier part of the day when the issue wasn't a problem Windows started up fine and everything was working as it once did Except for sound The volume controls icon does not show in the taskbar I've gone into Control Panel - gt Sounds and Devices and checked Sound drivers installed correctly, but sound and related features work incorrectly the box that is supposed to place the controls Sound drivers installed correctly, but sound and related features work incorrectly in the taskbar but to no avail Still doesn't show up I know that this is usually caused by incorrectly installed sound drivers but they are installed fine and do not appear in an errored state in the device manager I've also reinstalled the sound drivers from my motherboard's drivers disc multiple times with no change Oddly enough any sounds that are supposed Sound drivers installed correctly, but sound and related features work incorrectly to be played by Windows do not play If I open a file in Windows Media Player or in a game the sound plays perfectly fine On top of that I'm also getting trouble with recording sounds Not just with a microphone but even from they stereo mix channel In Sounds and Audio Devices Properties looking at the Voice tab the default device for Voice Playback is blank I set it to Realtek HD Audio Output but when I press apply it resets to blank When I set it to the Realtek Output and go to the 'test hardware' button I can hear my own voice in the microphone just fine When I open Windows Sound Recorder the record button is gray and can not be pressed Other sounds which are supposed to record sounds also say that an invalid device is specified undoubtedly because the device is blank and will not change Any assistance with this infinitely annoying problem will be greatly appreciated
