I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Do you have any display at all?

If not, then it's probably certain that the beep code is correct; that your video chip needs butter (because it's toast).

Does it have a video card installed? If so, pull it, and see if you can get display through the native video output. If it is without a video card, go to a local shop, and see if they have on old one, compatible with your system, that you can use to test with. If it tests good, you probably need to buy a video card...

If your computer is disconnected, you can probably get away without any grounding strap. Nothing in life is guaranteed tho'.

Hi I have a computer in my house that need's help. It was running ok except for the fact that it would sometimes restart a few time's before I could get logged into an account and going online I had to use internet explorer no add on's other then that it turned on a ran rather smoothly. But after running windows update which had 68 updates it no longer starts. When trying to start it it doesn't show anything on the screen the tower just makes a beeping noise and then the fan starts running really loud it beeps like 4, or 5 times and then nothing but fan running really loudly can be heard with the light flashing. It's a dell not sure what model. I can put up any of the logs since it wont work whatsoever any help would be appreciated thanks guys !

I do know that dell computers have beep codes to help you figure out the problem. i had only one dell tower beep and it had a bad ram could be bad ram or a failing fan because the computer needs cleaned out of dust and dirt.

My computer starts out making an occasional beep (different tones) then it eventually makes a sound like a British police car. It takes about two hours for it to reach the police car stage. The sound comes from the tower, not the speakers.

If I quit out of everythig I am doing it will stop. If I go back it starts again.

I use CA's e-Trust anti virus, Spybot Search and Destroy and AVG free anti-spam.

Nothing locks up.

I am a nave at computers, ergo the name Knothead.

I would greatly appreciate help stopping this annoyance.

A:My Computer Makes Beeping Noises

What you are experiencing is probably not software related, but rather hardware related. In order to interpret the beep pattern you are receiving we need to know exactly what version of BIOS your computer has. Probably the easiest way to do this is to download and install the Belarc Advisor by clicking HERE. Run it, and it will produce a report. Look for the version of BIOS on your computer. I just ran it on mine and it looks like this:In my case my BIOS manufacturer and version is:Pheonix/Award Technologies, LTD 6.0 PG 3/08/2004If you can get us this info, then we can help interpret the beeps.

Hi there,
I have an Asus G50VT-X1 running Win 7 Ultimate. All parts are standard.

Whenever I plug a laser mouse, wired or non-wired, into my computer, it makes a beeiping noise during its operation. mice do NOT make the noises, the noise comes from the speakers, built in or lineout.

Im not going to go over the noises it makes, because I dont know how to describe all of them, but they are akin to the "mosquito" sounds, but louder, and at easier to hear frequencies. I dont know if this is a hardware or software problem ( all usb ports are affected the same ), but its extremely annoying to be listening to music, web browsing, or playing an awesome game with this continual buzzing/beeping noise. Please help?

BTW - it does this whether or not im using a clean install of win 7.

SMKWL Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!Beeping sounds are produced during something known as Power On Self Test (POST) and indicate that something serious is wrong with the hardware!  Most likely, something you can not easily fix.You should not be having problems with a PC this new. While this PC is still under warranty, you should contact HP Customer Support directly to have them put you in touch with HP Technical Support to see what they can do about diagnosing and repairing your machine remotely.I did this recently and the HP Tech was able to remotely access my PC from the Internet and do the needed repairs. If HP can not fix it, then you should be able to insist on a replacement -- at no charge! If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!Good Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------If my posts helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol to say thanks. If my posts solved your problem please click "Accept As Solution".========================================================================

Recently i bought a graphics card second hand off the internet. When i inserted it into the computer, it would not start, and makes a long continuous beeping noise, there are no intervals in between. It started fine when I took the card out. Does this indicate that the card is faulty and that i should ask for a refund?

A:computer wont start long beeping noise

hello & welcome to TSF ,

there are steps to installing a video card

you may need to do a memory/ram upgrade

you may need to do a psu (power supply unit) upgrade

you may need to do adjustments to the bios

you have to uninstall your old divers

so what i would do is go to the video card section of this forum and inquire of the proper things that you need to do

they are more skilled in this matter

It seems that my computer is working fine but occasionally, my tower is making beeping noises. It sometimes occurs out of no where but it seems that it occurs everytime i place a certain game into the cdrom. Im not sure but i think the beeping noise is coming from the CDrom itself. i tried putting in another cd rom and trying to run the same exact game and it still makes the noise. Its really annoying because the sound is actually coming out of the tower and you cant get it to go off unless you close your computer and reopen. any help please?

Hello. Within the last day or so my computer has been making wierd beeping noises from the computer speaker every 2 minutes or so. I have a program called WeatherBug, and when it's activated and a warning is issued it does that same tone in 5 beep bursts. The funny thing is that I don't have weather bug running when this happens. And when I start WeatherBug and it makes these noises, there are no warnings.

Please post back with any ideas.

Having built a new computer for myself, I decided to give my old one to my sister.

The problem is that it completely stopped working.

Every now and then, when I started up my computer, the screen would remain black and the computer would make this long *BEEEEEEEEEEP* noise over and over again. Usually, holding down the power button and restarting the computer would work. But for some reason, this no longer works.

Could someone tell me what is the significance of the sound?

Have you tried updating or reinstalling the Sound driver? Run all Important and Optional Updates after enabling Automatically get recommended drivers and updates for your hardware (Step 3). If that doesn't help import the latest Sound driver from the PC's Support Downloads webpage for your exact model.

The problem may be with the inferior Factory Pre-installed Win7 with all of the bloatware and duplicate utiltiies which have better versions built into Win7. These throttle Win7 from its native performance and causes issues.

That's why most tech enthusiasts will not run such an install but instead Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7. Everything is provided in the blue link tutorial.

At the minimum I'd Clean Up Factory Bloatware.

If this doesn't resolve performance problems, work through these Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7.

I installed 7 about 2 weeks ago and I love it, cept now every so often my computer makes this intermittent buzzing sound (not from the speakers from the actual computer). Is my hard disk dying? it sounds like it's coming from the front of the case (it's either the hard drive or the fan)

A:Computer makes random buzzing noises

Check to see if anything on the case is loose and buzzing. I had an intermittent buzzing on a Dell desktop that drove me crazy until I finally found a plastic bezel on the front was slightly loose and causing the buzz.

Otherwise open the case and with the PC powered on maybe you can figure out where the noise is coming from.

A:Computer makes clicking noises and screen is blue

I would take the side off the computer, turn it on, and see if you can isolate where the noise is coming from.

It is usually one of two things:
1. bad fan somewhere or a fan with a stray wire hitting it - move wire or replace fan
2. bad harddrive - this would be the worse scenario - hope you've been making regular backups of your important files to CD/DVD or external HDD.

If it is the HDD, then you will need to replace it and reinstall Windows and all other applications. Depending on the current condition, it may be very difficult to access or recover any files from it.

You may want to take it to a local repair shop to have it diagnosed.

Go to search type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers
Download and run malwarebytes, a full scan after you update
Run antivirus scan
Check memory with memtest86
Make sure that you are not over heating.
Try in safe mode; report back if it works properly.
Try a clean boot
Make sure PSU is working properly
If overclocking, restore to original
Test hard drive at company website.

Check back and I will get you some links that you can use for the above

Me Bad!
Almost forgot. Type event viewer, in search (by start button) and look for errors that may show the cause of the problem.
Go into event viewer and look for critical errors relating to the problem

You want to look for critical errors (they have red in the left column ).
When you find them you want to look for critical errors that say app hang, app crash, or anything that relates to the problem.

This seems like a lot, but go slow, ask questiions and you will be up and running.

In your case, also, go to device manager and look for yellow markers by the sound card and make sure its driver is up to date

I recently made the mistake of installing software which contained a tages driver onto my computer, the driver is not compatible with windows 7. When I turn my computer on, sometimes it will make a beeping sound repeatedly, however sometimes it will turn on as normal, and will have no further problems. I have managed to uninstall the driver, but am still having problems turning the computer on. There doesn't seem to be any particular reason for why the computer will sometimes turn on, and otherwise just make the beeping sound repeatedly. Does anyone have any advice?

A:Computer makes beeping sound when turned on

The beeping is coming from your PC performing a POST(power on self test).
Different patterns of beeps mean different things so next time it does it try to count the number and length of the beeps.
You can check out and hopefully show you what is going on.
You could also check your restore points and try restoring to a date prior to that software being installed

I would check the CPU cooler to make sure you haven't moved a lead into the fans path. When you say you cleaned it with compressed air, did you stop the fan from spinning as you did it, or did you allow it to speed up as the air blasted it?

If you've allowed it to spin up whilst being blasted with air its possible you've let it go too fast and caused wear to the bearings of the fan, hence the louder noise.

When cleaning moving components (fans for example) using blasts of compressed air, it is essential to provide a means of stopping them from moving. For example, using the end of something like a screwdriver against the side of the blade will stop it from spinning. Spinning up fans faster than their designed specifications can cause premature wear to them.

With the side panel off, fire up the computer (do not touch any of the hardware with it running), and see if you can locate where the noise is coming from inside the case. It could be one of the fans, or it could be the CPU cooler fan. Also, have a good look around all of the moving parts and make sure that all wiring is away from fans -- including the GPU (graphics card) if one is fitted.

This has began today. I turned on the computer and one of the CD drives flash and makes a beeping noise, and that's it. The screen remains blank and nothing happens for the flashing light and beeping noise.

Can a faulty CD drive cause this? It has also been quite hot here... melted circuitry?

My computer is XP Pro BTW, and has two other drives (two DVD drives).

Just built a new pc last week. Reinstalled windows this past weekend due to the computer freezing and locking up. The PC will be running fine and then all the sudden it starts to get extremely laggy and then the mouse cursor freezes, no keyboard shortcuts work and task manager won't open on [ctrl+alt+delete]. I am not getting any visible error messages or a BSOD. The PC build was trouble free, board posted on first try and installed windows with no hiccups. The only way to fix the issue is hard reboot, but it's only a temporarily fix as the problem happens randomly. Followed instructions and uploaded the SevenForums Diagnostics Tool Dump Files. Any help would be much appreciated.

My computer keeps freezing at random. Before and during the freeze the computer makes a beeping noise (not through the speakers).
it seems like its a software problem seeing how i could hear my friend on skype while the computer was frozen.
Ive got a recording of the beeping sound but its very faint so you might have to turn your volume up.

Hi HavardW,

Welcome to the 8forums.

You say it might be a software problem, lets find out using a clean boot.
Please open taskmanager and msconfig (windows logo + r > msconfig > enter)
In taskmanager
go to the tab startupdisable everything.
In msconfig
go to the tab services, check 'Hide Microsoft services'disable every other service, click apply, click ok and reboot if asked

If the problem does not occur in a clean boot, enable in taskmanager 1 item and in msconfig 1 service.
Keep doing this until you find the culprit.

i think there may also be a suspicious program called Pev.exe aswell===========Hello While we understand your frustration at having to wait, please note that Bleeping Computer deals with several hundred requests for assistance such as yours on a daily basis. As a result, our backlog is quite large as are other comparable sites that help others with malware issues. Although our HJT Team members work on hundreds of requests each day, they are all volunteers who work logs when they can and are able to do so. No one is paid by Bleeping Computer for their assistance to our members.Further, our malware removal staff is comprised of team members with various levels of skill and expertise to deal with thousands of malware variants, some more complex than others. Although we try to take DDS/HJT logs in order (starting with the oldest), it is often the skill level of the particular helper and sometimes the operating system that dictates which logs get selected first. Some infections are more complicated than others and require a higher skill level to remove. Without that skill level attempted removal could result in disastrous results. In other instances, the helper may not be familiar with the operating system that you are using, since they use another. In either case, neither of us want someone to assist you who is not familiar with your issue and attempt to fix it.We ask that once you have posted your log and are waiting, please DO NOT "bump" your thread or make further replies until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. The reason we ask this or do not respond to your requests is because that would remove you from the active queue that Techs and Staff have access to. The malware staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response, there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. That is why I have made an edit to your last post, instead of a reply. Please do not multiple post here, as that only pushes you further down the queue and causes confusion to the staff. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible.Thank you for understanding.Orange Blossom ~ forum moderator

But recently taking out the video card hasn't been working. Last night i took out the card and hooked the monitor up to the onboard video slot. It worked fine. and so i figured the videocard had went bad in it. But this morning I got up and went to turn on the computer and the same clicking noise with no monitor signal. The clicking noise is very fast, and you can tell the computer isnt booting up. Anyone have any suggestions? Bad powersupply?

I'm pretty sure its a virus making my computer sound weird it sounds like a woodpecker inside. i ran avg found nothing on both profiles i have to log on to my computer. i also ran malwarebytes on both profiles i found i virus on a profile that dosent really get used to often. i also deleted avg and downloaded it again and this time it came with a I.D. scanner thing that said it found 4 threats. i think there is still something some where otherwise it wouldnt be making that noise. what should i do?

A:computer makes weird noise on start up

It sounds like a woodpecker? To me that would indecate that something (a wire, most likely) is getting too close to a fan somewhere inside the case. Open the case (or have your local computer guru do it for you) and start up the computer. Try to find where the sound is coming from. Then turn off the computer and move whatever is causing the sound away from whichever fan it's impinging on.

So I turn my computer off one day only to find it wont start the next day. I open the case up and see the led is on. I flip the switch on the power supply off then on and quickly press the power button. My computer starts but the following time I shut down the computer it again wont start and now the led is blinking. I've never had any issues like this before, any help would be appreciated.

I don't routinely use many usb devices, only my mouse and keyboard and every now and then my ipod. I figure the issue is likely either the power supply or the motherboard. The ps is almost two years old while the motherboard is only about three months old.

A:Computer wont start, power supply wont start, blinking led

It sounds to me like your PSU is the problem, get a hold of another and plug it to your computer and see if that will make it start, if it doesn't it might be BOTH your motherboard and PSU. A bad PSU will burn a motherboard.

HI, not sure if Ive posted this in the right forum but here goes:

I moved to another country about half a year ago and my computer was shipped there. Im pretty sure the handlers threw it around like they do with everything else despite it being labelled fragile. After arrival, I haven't touched the computer ever since I received it and now Ive decided to use it again. However, after setting it up, the computer juist wont boot up. The screen stays black while the CPU continuously emit this beeping noise. I"ve googled a bit regarding possible explanations of this issue and it appears that this may be a hardware problem with the motherboard and/or PSU? Just wanted to confirm this, and how I can go about fixing it before having to get someone to take a look at it?

Alright, I have a Gateway G7-450 in the shop that is making some stange noises but besides that the only things that are working are the fans and the lights. It sounds like the CD-ROM is trying to work but it stopps after a few seconds.

It makes beeping noises when I turn it on but I can't find any information as to what it means. The beeping noises are two short beeps right after one another and a long one followed by another short beep 8 seconds later.

I have swapped out the hard drive (as well as unplugged it) and swapped out the Power Supply to no avail. The Gateway site is not helping me at all. Any advice?

A:Not sure what the beeping noises mean?

These beeps (or beep code) can be useful in troubleshooting problems prior to the initialization of your computer's video system. The number of beeps is dependent on your computer's particular BIOS and is unfortunately not standardized across manufacturers. If you can match your beep code to your particular BIOS and version, you can accurately diagnose problems with your CPU, RAM, motherboard, video board, or drive controller.

Your system's beep codes should be in the written documentation for your motherboard, or obtainable from the manufacturer's web site.

The following is an example of beep codes from American Megatrends:

1s (short) System RAM refresh failure
2s Memory parity error
3s Base 64-kbytes memory failure
4s System timer failure
5s CPU failure
6s Keyboard controller Gate A20 failure
7s Virtual mode exception error
8s Display memory read/write error
9s ROM BIOS checksum error
10s CMOS shutdown register read/write error
11s Cache memory error
1l (long) - 3s Memory test failure (non fatal)
1l - 8s Display test failure (non fatal)

Your system documentation or the manufacturer's web site may include recommended solutions to these error codes. For example, from American Megatrends:

For 1-, 2-, and 3-beep errors try reseating the system's memory modules. If that fails, it is possible that 1 or more memory modules are bad.
For a 6-beep error, try substituting a different keyboard, or reseating the keyboard controller chip.
For an 8-beep error, try reseating your video card or a different video card (if your system has a separate video card).
For 4-, 5-, 7-, 9-, and 10-beep errors, it is likely that you will need to have your motherboard repaired or replaced.

my computer wont boot and still it wont display.
i already changed a video card and stil it wont.
it have no beep at all and it will not display.

what should i do?

A:guys my computer wont start and wont have a display

does it beep any. if not this will indicate more major problems. (unless you dont have beep speaker installed) a mother board is programed with a set of beep to play if there is a problem like such as three beeps if the ram is not working, 1 long beep if the vid card is not working etc etc. I DO NOT KNOW WHAT YOUR BEEPs WILL BE. if you are not getting these then you need to find out why. see if you have a speaker inside your case. if you do and all of your fans spin but still no action from you pc then you may have a larger problem such as mother board or processor.

There were also beeping noises coming from my laptop as I did that. I'd posted earlier on this forum about a fear that my laptop had been infected, especially since until very recently I had been a frequent visitor of certain porn sites such as youporn and pornhub, as well as a few videos on youtube. I was wondering if any of you could be able to help. I was wondering if there was only one way of formatting the laptop, or if there was a special method of formatting that is required for seriously infected laptops. Please help.

My first bit of advice would be to run Windows Defender Offline. This is NOT Windows Defender but instead a program created by Microsoft to scan your computer for viruses/malware before windows boots. Windows Defender Offline

If that scan comes up clean, follow the steps outlined in this tutorial: Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot

Hope this helps

There are three possibilities here, all related to your memory.

1) You have forgotten to fit your memory back in.
2) Your memory isn't properly seated in its slot(s)
3) You have killed your memory because of not following antistatic procedures.

I'm suspecting it is either 2 or 3.

Hello, I just found this forum via google and thought you might be able to help.

My hard drive tipped over today and shut off. When I turned it back on I hear 2 tones of beeping noises. I opened it up and nothing was out of place so I recorded this video so you could hear the sounds.

You might have to turn the volume up a bit:

It does this for about 30 seconds and then stops. My computer fails to recognize the hard drive so I am concerned about retrieving the data on it. The external hard drive is buslink brand but the actual hard drive inside is western digital 160gb.

Does anyone have any ideas of what this is? How to fix it? Or whether or not the data might be salvegable?

Thanks for any advice you might have.

i really have no idea, i believe its a problem with the actual start up button instead of the computer itself, ive pried the thing open, seeing the generator is on, everythings in place and there are lights on, showing there is power. any ideas?

When ever i play music my sound will crackle every once in a while. When i try to play some games the crackle will be constant. I put in a new sound card think that it was my onboard sound card causing the problem but it was not. I have all the volume controls set to 50% and it still does it. It does not matter what volume they are set at it still does it. If anyone knows what this could be please help me.

A:Sound Makes Funny Noises

So tell us something about the new sound card you put in and what speakers your are using.

Disconnect your current speakers and use headphones (as a test) does the crackle continue?

Ok my ipod has a fulll battery but when ever i try to turn it on the little apple sign comes on screen and then i can hear a wierd sound coming from the ipod if i put my ear to it. So my Question is whats the sound for and how can i get my ipod back to normal? I cant listen to my music.

A:My ipod Makes wierd noises what are they?

Can you be more specific as to the sound you are hearing?

Also, try a different set of head phones before anything. Occasionally, my IPod headphones put out low volume until I untangle the headphones. If that doesn't correct the problem, you might have a bad jack on your IPod.

Ive had my laptop for about a year and a half now and jus today when i played a dvd, it makes this loud noise when i watch them but goes away when i stop... whats wrong with it???

A:laptop makes noises when playing dvd

What kind of "loud noise"? If it's the sound of the disk spinning, you may have live with it. Does it do it with all DVD's? Maybe you have one that's out of balance.

I have a USB mouse with a roller ball. Recently when I move it over its mouse pad it makes a creaking sound which is very disconcerting.

I cleaned its roller and wheels with a dry cloth but it didn't make any difference.

Anyone have any tips for me?

A:Mouse makes creaking noises

A new mouse. Preferably an optical one.

Its probably something jammed in the sensor wheels, that are driven off the wheels that run on the ball. Or the bearings for those axles are stuffed.

I have a DELL XPS laptop that makes beeping sounds and the screen is still black after I pressed the power button.
It makes 5 beeping sounds per interval and goes on until it shuts itself down. What should I do and who should I contact to help me fix my laptop?

A:My Laptop Makes Beep sound when I press power button and it wont Start

Hi AhLong
Thanks for writing to us.
5 beeps usually means CMOS failure, now it could be the battery failure or the motherboard failure. If your system is under warranty we can get it repaired or else you can check with a local Dell authorized repair center and get it checked.
You can try another CMOS battery if available.
Do provide us your system tag#, email address and name via private message.

I have an Asus laptop about 4 months-old and out of the sudden, the CD-Rom driver started to make a noise when I reboot, when windows loads into desktop and sometimes after about 3 minutes within windows loads completely. That's 3 noises everytime I reboot!

The BD-Rom driver also makes a noise the exact moment I open certain programmes such as windows disk desfragmentation or even when I open Counter-Strike.

The noise sounds exactly as if I inserted a disk in the driver, its not a weird sound or anything like that.

This is very strange which is why I would like to solve this and get your feedback as to why this noise started happening in the first place.

A:CD/DVD-ROM makes weird noises when opening certain programmes.

Is there by chance a disk in the drive? A driver is a piece of software, I assume you mean motor.

I was watching a video, so I decided to put my lenovo yoga 2 pro on stand mode; however, it froze my screen on the video and it started making weird glitchy noises along with the sound of the video. It was fine when I was watching it on laptop mode. Is there any way to solve this problem?

My laptop is now making 'scratching' and whirling noises. The scratching noise sounds like someting slightly out of balance. It doesn't happen all the time, but when it does it will continue for hours.

Nothing appears to be wrong with the operation of the pc.

My questions are:
1. Does this sound like a disc frive about to give up? (I have backed everything up just in case).
2. If I do have to replace a disc, what can I replace it with? Can I get a larger dic, or 2 larger discs?

Some technical details.

1. I do not run in RAID mode
2. I have [email protected] HDDs
3. G20 Model: PQG20A-008002
4. I run XP

A:Re: Qosmio G20 makes 'scratching' and whirling noises

Noises like that usually come from the Cooling Fan, the HDD(s), or the DVD Drive.

If you put your ear to the notebook, can you identify the location of the noise?

If it is the HDD, you can buy a new drive but you might be limited to 120GB max.

Dell Vostro 1500
Windows XP SP3
Anti-virus: Norton 360

I have a situation that is very annoying on my laptop. At random times, a icon at the bottom right (near time) would pop up "FFA". When it pops that up, it makes an audio through the speaker like a car revving an engine or monkey noises. I tried doing a search but couldn't find the solution. I have the Norton 360 which didn't even find the virus / malware / etc.. Nor is it preventing it from going off.

I tried doing a search for a solution on google and stumbled upon this website. I did a combofix search that I read on this website.

I also have a combofix log. Let me know if you need that information. I can post it here if moderators let me.

Let me know, thanks! I will be checking this thread daily so I will reply to replies a.s.a.p.!

A:Laptop makes car audio noises through speakers

Hello and Welcome.

We want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link I'll give you below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and a

Having problems with spyware and pop-ups? First Steps

link at the top of each page.

A Reminder....

As seen in Post #2 of our sticky topic 'NEW INSTRUCTIONS Read this Before Posting For Malware Removal Help'

Why we don't ask you to run ComboFix from the onset

As stated by the author of ComboFix:

ComboFix is a very powerful tool which when improperly used may render your machine to a doorstop.

We first need to verify if there's any rootkits present and how they could affect our tools. DDS & GMER are preliminary scans. We use their logs to map our strategy for attack.

With these logs we can determine the infections present & decide whether to deploy ComboFix

Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here:

After running through all the steps, you shall have a proper set of logs. Please post them in a new topic, as this one shall be closed.

If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply.

Please note that the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help forum is extremely busy, and it may take a while to receive a reply.

I purchased my pacific digital dvd drive about a year ago. It has always caused me nothing but problems. It skips when watching movies, and sometimes freezes the whole computer, and it wont read some of my dvd disks now. it has always been like this. do i need to get a new dvd drive (I'm on the brink!) or am i missing some driver that will tell it to stop stuttering and making funny noises (and i mean really wierd, not normal disk-reading noise)
Any help here would be awesome, and thank you
also any recomended site would be great if you know of any to help me.

A:Pacific Digital CD-DVD ROM makes funny Noises

Have you tried cleaning the drive with a lens cleaner? But if it's always made these noises, not played cds/dvds, I'd say it's bad and needs replacing. Of course sometimes even cds or dvds that are scratched, or dirty/fingerprints on the cd/dvds, then they won't play either. Reality check.......get a new drive. I've seen LiteOn drives on newegg for $19.99.

my computer doesnt seem to work for some weird reason. the tower powers on but the hard drive doesnt spin or make any noise. all i hear are the fans working. i have two identical dell dimensions 2400 and was trying clean them out because of all the dust that formed on the inside. i one apart completely (removing motherboard, connections, memory, and psu) and for the other just removed the cables from their spots. i used a hair dryer to blow all the dust away and when i finished and reconnected all the wires and everything, both computers wont start up. it is completely non responsive. i tried using alternate psu and different monitors but no luck. please help me get atleast one to start working!

A:Computer wont start up

Did you put all the cables back in the right spots? And when you use a hair dryer, make sure the heat is off..

Well i took out my gfx card and cleaned it and put it back, by cleaning the dust not with anything wet, just blew some of the dust on it and put it back in, i think correctly.

Then i took off my fan and heatsink above the cpu and removed the cpu and added some thermal paste and put the cpu back in correctly, i think, and then put the cpu and heatsink back on.

I plug evreything back in and when i click the power button my screen and power button go orange, the fan starts spinning, quite fast, but my computer doesnt start after a while the fan turns off and so does the computer!

Whats happend!!

Yesterday my friend downloaded this blackberry desktop manger into my computer so she can fix her phone, it ended up not working and i forgot to deleted the blackberry desktop. I'm not saying it was the thing that caused the problem however i only go on 4 different website 6 at the most. Then yesterday night i try turning it on it took a few minutes then the black screen still stayed there and it turned off. I got mad and tried it again then this pop up thing saying cannot access log in came on. Today i tried going on my computer again and it started to start up normaly then the 'cannot access log in' came on again, i tried for a second time and it would start up then shut down, and on my third try it wont turn on at all.
The computer is not dead

A:Computer wont start up, it did twice and this pop up came up

Need a little more info about the computer:

Brand: (Toshiba?)
Model: ?
Type: Desktop or laptop?
OS: ?
Age: ?

When you say 'on my third try it wont turn on at all' are there any fans or lights on? Or it has lights and fans but a black screen?
