Can't install correct drivers on XP

Q: Can't install correct drivers on XP

I had to reinstall XP, I believe my soundcard is SigmaTel STAC9750/51 so I downloaded the right drivers but when I try to install I get a message saying "Device object not found". It's very frustrating and I really hope someone can help! Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

ok i have a acer aspire 7720-6155 notebook that originally had vista home premium factory installed on it and it came with no oem disk or battery

long story short vista died of the plague so i installed xp pro sp3 and updates but not specific ones

some of my hardware is not working...that hardware would be built in webcam, soundcard no sound no headphone sound and built in wireless is not working.

right now i got it running my wireless usb adapter, it says it is wireless connection 3

I don't know what drivers to download from acer or if they will work on xp

iv never had xp on a computer that didn't have it pre-installed so im in a learning curve right now

I apologize if this has already been discussed, I've just recently joined the forum. My main hard drive recently failed. I got a new one, reinstalled windows and got my graphics card and everything else installed, along with drivers. I cannot seem to get my system to get my audio back up and running. I have an XPS 420 running Vista Home Premium 64 with HDA 7.1 channel audio. I know I need RealTek but every time i try to install it, it doesn't "take" and just recognizes it as "High Definition Audio Device". Also, I had an IDT Control Center that came along with it. The drivers on my disc didn't seem to work, the only luck I've had is a Sigmatel codec but it doesn't appear to have everything that everything back to the way it was after the install. Any help would be insanely appreciated.

I looked through installation guides for the recommended installation order for correct Install clean the in Installing after order drivers drivers after a clean Windows installation from Installing drivers in the correct order after clean Install Windows disc I also spoke to Tech Support but keep getting conflicting advice so I thought I would try posting here The question I have is regarding the Intel Chipset drivers I know that they must be installed first before any other drivers The confusion I have is regarding the Intel AMT HECI drivers Intel Management Engine Interface which are also listed as Chipset drivers Previous Support Technicians have always said that the Intel AMT HECI drivers installation order is not important so can be installed anytime They always say Intel Chipset software must be done first though On Dells site there is a driver order installation guide which shows HECI drivers way down on the installation order too The other day I was speaking to a guy over the phone on tech support who told me that you should install the Intel Chipset software then the HECI drivers next The reason I ask is I did a clean Windows installation only last week I installed the Intel Chipset software first and I have installed other drivers including Graphics and Wireless Network drivers My HECI drivers were installed later Will this cause me problems or will it be OK Any advice would be appreciated Thanks very much in advance

A:Installing drivers in the correct order after clean Install

There is no order for installing drivers, unless specified, for instance, when you're downloading a driver, you might find a notification that says, "pls install driver xxxxxx before this one".
The reason that it is common to install the main chipset first, is so as to get proper access to peripherals like USB ports, wifi cards, etc, but it truly makes no difference which order you do them.

Could the fact that it isn't recognized by my PC be do to a lack of power from my psu? I have a raidmax 530w psu and min for the card is 400 so I figured I was okay... There is no place on the card to hook a cable from the psu to. It gets all its power straight from the MB... I dunno if that info will help any

Hi,

Is you PC a DELL & have you installed the operating system that from a DELL recovery disk? If you have & your system is not a DELL, your system is not legal!

You will need the corect recovery disks from the manufacturer.

If it is legal, use the recovery disks or to continue from where you are now: -

Download the drivers on a differrent PC, burn to CD/ DVD & install.

Hi there,

I changed video cards and when I updated my drivers for my current card (via CD) my audio drivers were lost. Now I can't hear any audio through my monitor speakers. I then went to the Compaq website, found the original drivers, but when trying to install them there is a pop-up that says I need the Microsoft Bus Driver.

And even before the installation begins it says I must have the Microsoft Universal Audio Architecture (UAA) High Definition Bus Driver before I can install the Realtek High Definition Audio Drivers. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to where to find them? I am a bit hesitant in doing it myself because I have installed incorrectly in the past. Thanks.

Hi, I have question. I have installed Windows 8.1 on second PC and it already had installed lot of drivers. But most of these drivers are from Microsoft and from year 2006 i think. For example, when I have actually installed by default "High Definition Audio" (Windows provided driver), it is Realtek High Definition audio but driver is outdated. Then I downloaded from Realtek webpage driver, and what should I do now?

1. Is better to uninstall this old driver inside device manager and then open downloaded setup.exe then reboot

OR

2. When I just open setup.exe to install driver?

Which method is correct?

//EDIT

I also want to ask about one thing, when I was installing Windows. When I created new partition with full size of HDD, it has maximum size. But when I format that partition it has like 0.3gb less.

A:Which way is correct, when updating drivers

I just install the newer manufacturer supplied drivers over the existing Windows default driver. It hasn't caused me any issues that I know of. The default drivers will likely just automatically reinstall anyway after a reboot etc.
You'll lose some space to the file system when you format the drive.

Before installing the standalone driver I get usb bus connection as yellow triangle error 29 I think and with the USB driver (tried multiple different sources and sites) I get USB 3.0 extensible driver with yellow triangle and error code 10
I have searched the ven and dev codes for the correct drivers but nothing seems to work
Any help is greatly appreciated thank you

It don't seem like this is correct keyboard drivers on my laptop. Is there something missing because the Esc, Enter, some of the F#, Fn, some of the letters and windows key just quit working one day. I've tried acer support and basically they just want money. Tried windows tips, uninstall and reboot and even did a complete reinstall of os. still dont work. On screen keyboard works fine, but annoying to use.

A:Is this correct keyboard drivers

That looks like the correct drivers. The problem is the keyboard. Replace the keyboard. I had to do that on an Acer laptop a couple of years ago. Not too big of a job.

Hello, I've often had this problem in the past where I will format my hard-drive or custom-build a new computer, only to find out months later, that one or more of my device drivers are not up-to-date or compatible with their current driver software...

When starting from scratch, what's the best way to ensure all your device drivers are updated/compatible? Like, for example, how do you personally ensure all your device drivers are up-to-date and compatible when starting anew? Go to the manufacturer's website for every driver? Or what? Are there any software tools out there that can help in this process?

Just curious, because I've always just kind of methodically and tediously gone to every manufacturer's website but I always seem to end up down the road with driver conflict problems...

Any advice here would be useful.

A:How do I make sure all of my drivers are correct/up-to-date?

The best option as you have already surmised is to go to the manufacturers websites.
Commonly there aren't a great deal of driver updates to check, but the ones that should be updated, especially if you are planning on migrating to Windows 7 are:

Motherboard manufacturer for:
Chipset driver, LAN driver, audio driver (if onboard), video driver (if onboard).

Video card driver (if discrete/seperate):
nVidia : from manufacturer preferably if GeForce 7xxx series or earlier, or direct from nVidia if unavailable, or 8xxx series or later.
ATI Radeon: Direct from ATI

Soundcard (if discrete/seperate) from manufacturer, also peripherals (printers, camera's, (some) keyboards and mice, scanners, copiers etc.)

To minimize driver conflicts I would only download one driver per component and use the correct procedure for updating drivers (i.e. close down all other applications before installing).

BEFORE updating drivers I would strongly recommend that you create a System Restore point and check for the drivers functionality, and repeat the process for each driver.

If you are unsure then please post back with your system information.

I would not recommend any all-in-one driver solutions at all.

I heard about Everest Ultimate from a friend and I love it.

It tells me everything about my computer, the name of the hardware, and much more.
After looking up my hardware, i google search the latest drivers using the information from Everest.

Is anybody familiar with this program? How accurate is the information it provides?
Is there a better way?

I've looked up drivers in the past and there were so many options to choose from sometimes, i didn't even know where to begin to look to figure it out.

Any feedback or tips would be appreciated.

I don't know, seems like most of the info is already available with device manager and system properties. However, for a similar program to Everest Ultimate, I prefer Belarc Advisor which is easier to read and free (no 30 day trial).

In vista i used to go into safe mode , add remove nvidia drivers and reboot into normal mode it would install the standard vga drivers. However with windows 7 when you reboot into normal mode it installs these wddm(?) drivers and reboots.

Have the old nvidia drivers been uninstalled? and can i just install any previous beta's or new betas over the top?

EDIT : Just installed over the top of the default windows 7 nvidia drivers on uninstalled reboot, seems to work fine so i'll see how it goes!.

A:Correct way to uninstall nvidia drivers?

You can have 2 option:

- Download the newest driver for your nVIDIA card, use the Un-install feature of the soft to remove the current driver then re-install.

- Use a clearly uninstall program, I suggest to use Your Uninstaller Pro 2008. You can find this software at 9down.com.

I have use these way for my nVIDIA 8600M GT and also my Ati Radeon Mobility 3670, both working well. Hope it good for you too.

Go to the Support Downloads webpage for your model to download the ethernet or LAN driver to stick or CD, install as Admin on the PC.

Then go directly to Windows Updates to do all of your Important and Optional Updates which should deliver any newer drivers.

If any drivers are missing after all Updates are done, import them also from the Support Downloads webpage for the PC or Device model.

All of this is in Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7.

HP publishes updates to Pavilion Desktop software and drivers. If no updates are available, you already have the latest software and drivers from HP on your system.
HP Pavilion systems with Windows XP do not come with recovery CDs. Use the following steps to restore a software application or driver in Windows XP:
Click Start, All Programs, HP Tools, and then Application Recovery.
In the Recovery window, select either Drivers or Applications as desired and click Next.
Select the software driver or application that is to be reinstalled and click Next.
The driver or application will automatically be installed. Some programs will take longer to install than others.

You may also obtain updated software and drivers from the manufacturer of the specific software or hardware, or by using Windows Update .
Since you have installed a new HD and, I assume an OS, you will have lost HP Tools and Application recovery. Try windows update

toshikijima, you helped me last year with a problem I was having with finding the correct drivers for windows 7 ethernet controllers on a p4s800d-x motherboard. I am having the same exact problem again and I need to find the correct drivers. Here are my hardware ID`s for both ethernet controllers. The first controller is PCI\VEN_1039&DEV_0900&SUBSYS_80A71043 And the second is PCI\VEN_1317&DEV_0985&SUBSYS_05701317 I will appreciate anyone`s help with my problem...Thanks

A:I need to find the correct ethernet controller drivers.

for VEN_1039 try here - it's a Silicon Integrated Systems [SiS] chip (there's an old thread on these forums about it too).
for VEN_1317 try here - it's a SMC EZ Card 10/100

If nothing else, use a search engine - google, bing, ... for those two device id's.
VEN_1039&DEV_0900&SUBSYS_80A71043 and VEN_1317&DEV_0985&SUBSYS_05701317

Hi:

Have you already upgraded to Win10 or are you planning ahead?

If you have not already upgraded, then have you verified via Dell or via the Windows 10 Compatibility Checker that this system will run Win10 OK?

Get Windows 10 app - Check Compatibility Report for Windows 10

(Some older systems have trouble upgrading. This is true more for laptops than for desktops like the XPS 8100.)

In any event, the Dell Drivers and Downloads page will give you all the latest drivers for the system, at least for the innards that are still original (if not for the new SSD) -- you just enter your service tag or express service code, and it will look up your system for all the relevant drivers:

Also is there a easy way to be sure all Windows essential stuff is installed? Like net framework, other runtimes, and etc

Do you mean BEFORE or AFTER the upgrade to Win10??

Other, more expert forum folks will undoubtedly have additional advice, including links to the many excellent tutorials to assist with the upgrade.

I'm preparing to buy an SSD for my HPE-570t One of the steps that one of the acronis Videos says to do, download all of your drivers from your computer manufacter's website. HP lists 17 "Original Drivers" for my model. My question is: of those 17 which are specific to my 570t? And should I be downloading the original drivers, from when I bought this computer? As an aside, I did have to upgrade the Nvidia driver for my GT440 , (from NVidia's site,) to get the "Nvidia Inspector" (a 3rd paty program,)  to work. OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit Here's a video explaining the process. I hope that enlightens those who may need more information... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIl2L0OjZks Thanks in advance, Chef_D

When you change the settings, before you click ok (I think) you should see a change in the little preview window'
Do you see that change?

PS you should also see a little dialog box that says do you want to save (keep?) these changes. If you don't say yes it defaults back to old settings.

Hi j.j.blann,
Dell Latitude D630 has not been tested for Windows 7 operating system. However you can use the Windows vista operating system driver and install it on compatibility mode.
Any DVD drive on the Windows has a native driver from the operating system. please follow the instructions in the link below to fix the issue with the DVD drive.
 http://dell.to/1bhPslf
If the Fixit tool does not fix the issue then please perform the manual steps under Resolution 3: Manually fix corrupted registry entries in the link.
In addition, I would like to know the ‘Hardware ID’ any hardware with exclamation mark or unknown device.. Please follow the steps mentioned below to find the ‘Hardware ID’ in device manager.

Open Device manager.
Right click on the ‘Unknown device’ and select ‘Properties’.
Click on ‘Details’ tab.

A:Correct SATA Drivers for hard disk controller?

1. What kind of motherboard do you have? You'll have to go to their site and get the SATA/RAID drivers for your board.
2. 32 or 64 bit? 32 bit will only recognize up to 3.0 or 3.5 GB of RAM.

can we see an xirrus screen shot
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Run Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector
Download and install
If you cannot access the internet with this PC, then you will need to copy the program across to the faulty PC
Save the file to a USB flash drive or other removable media. Plug it into the working computer with internet access and copy the file and install the program.
You will now need to take a screen shot and copy that back to the working PC and attach the screen shot in a reply on the forum here.

http://www.xirrus.com/Products/Wi-Fi-Inspector.aspx
Direct link to the program is here http://info.xirrus.com/Wi-FiInspectorConfirmation.html

{If the above link does not work heres another link http://www.pcworld.com/downloads/file_download/fid,77196-order,4/download.html}

Then run and install the program - on a wireless enabled PC/Laptop
if you get an error - You need will need to have NET Framework installed for the WiFi Inspector to function.
On windows 8 - (i do not have windows 8) but, it would appear that, When you first try to run, you may get a message that .net framework is needed, and included in that message is a link to download/install.

Run the program

A user guide is available here http://www.xirrus.com/cdn/pdf/Xirrus-Wi-Fi-inspectorguide-1-2-1-RevB-6.aspx

post a screen shot of the program running.
if there are a lot of networks showing can you click on "networks" top lefthand area - so we can see all the network information.

post which SSID name is yours, its located in the list, under network "Adapter Name" (1st column)
Note:
For a reliable (or robust as the Xirrus user guide says) wireless connection you need a signal of about -70 dBm or better. "A desirable signal level for a robust Wi-Fi connection will be green".
note: the signal level is a negative number, so for example -88 is worst and -40 is better

To post a screen shot of the active window.
Windows 8
you can use the snipping tool > Open Snipping Tool (From the Windows 8 Start Screen, type "snip" and press enter.
>Press the Esc. key.

Hi;

I have a late 2008 unibody MacBook Pro running OSC 10.5.8. When I first got it I setup a dual boot with Win XP using Bootcamp.

The problem I have is that the Ethernet NIC port has stopped working and has a yellow exclamation in SYSTEM (its fine in OSX). I have uninstalled it but cannot install the drivers as I do not know what to install.

In SYSTEM HARDWARE it was listed as nForce but I do not know which version of nForce chipset is used in the MacBok Pro. Someone has mentioned upgrading Bootcamp but I do not know which version I currently have and it has also been suggested to simply re-use the drivers from the original install CD, I have them but cannot see where to get the drivers from.

Any help would be great.

Follow the installation directions that come with it.
But fans are usually Case Fans.Theres holes to screw them to.
One again : Read your motherboard manual. pci slots are for devices like

The bracket for the two ssd's is easy enough or the use of Velcro
But the cables I'm not at all sure of for the psu which is built into the tinny psu
The motherboard I'm not sure if a splitter exists to use the same cable or would it connect directly to the motherboard and split from there ?
Thanks for any direct links to my needs Newegg/ Amazon.. Amazon is where I saw the dbl bracket for the ssd's,

A:Install 2 ssd's on a system without the correct cables :(

Mike, the power splitter is no problem. Those are easy to come by. The problem is a splitter for the data cable. I have never seen one and don't know if you would want to use one. You would be running 2 SSDs from one port and performance would suffer a lot, I'm sure.

This is what you need for the power splitter StarTech PYO2SATA 6" SATA Power Y Splitter Cable - Newegg.com

Could you use something like this on your motherboard? Just an example StarTech Model PEXSATA22I PCI Express to SATA Card Add-On Card - Newegg.com

A:Is this a correct way to do a clean install of Windows 7?

This is the correct way, but I would suggest at step #11 going to the Device Manager and viewing the devices. You only need to update drivers that are missing (eg) have a yellow flag next to them, or are not listed (eg) USB 3.0 driver, WIFI driver. Unless you are having a problem with that device or a BSOD, there is no reason to update the driver in most cases, but it doesn't hurt to do so. Also, you don't have to disable Automatic Updates before installing drivers, in many cases, Windows update will have a newer driver then the one you have saved.
Then you would want to install Java, Adobe Flashplayer, Shockwave, and Reader unless you have Acrobat.

A:Whats the Correct way to install windows

Step 0) Download latest drivers for everything to USB drive
Step 1) Make sure your Windows 10 installation media has the newest version of the Windows 10 install
(Friend of mine screwed this us recently. Turns out new Nvidia drivers won't even install on an unpatched original version of Windows 10!)
2) Install Windows 10 while network cable is unplugged. Because F Microsoft trying to use a Live account for setup. Also sometimes Windows Udate manages to install old drivers for shit before you can install the new drivers.
3) Install all drivers, reboot as requested. Use the following order: Chipset, IME, USB/Thunderbolt, audio, GPU, webcams, whatever
4) Connect to Internet and run Windows Update

Hi Guys,

I fell from grace when my computer got a really bad virus and had Win7 re-installed, and hastily. Problem was, I didn't check the credentials of the guys wj?ho installed it, and it turns out it's a pirated copy.

I really want to rectify this, as I don't ever inrtend to install Win8 or 10, and want to keep Win 7 Professional probably for ever. I'm down with the system, like it, love it and it suits me fine, the only bug-bear is that it's not correct or proper.

Wanting to rectify this, having bought a legit package of Win7 Professional, can I just install it on top of the one I have and get to keep all the files? Of does it need to start with a clean install?
Regards

A:How can I install correct version of Win7 over a copy?

Let's have a look at what you've got at present - it will affect any advice we give...

Please followthis tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/234159-windows-genuine-activation-issue-posting-instructions.html

Ignore errors produced when clicking on theCopy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup filesfor some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to yourresponse.

Please also statethe Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one)on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOTquote the Key on the sticker!

Hi, I have recently purchased Windows 8 Pro Upgrade and for Christmas I will be getting my first SSD.

I want to do a clean install of 8.1 via USB, is this possible with the Windows 8 Pro Upgrade key? I have read through numerous tutorials and think I've got it right but just want some to clarify this will work.

Download the 8.1 ISO
Use the generic key to run the installer
Setup the PC
Open PC Settings
Change Product Key enter Win 8 Pro (upgrade) key and activate

Do I then need to do the reg edit and command prompt changes?
Regedit - HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/Software/Microsoft/Windows/CurrentVersion/Setup/OOBE
Command prompt - slmgr /rearm

Do I have this right or am I missing something?

Thanks

I upgraded to dual-core in laptop over a week ago and while it shows 2 processors in Device Manager and I do see benefits from dual-core my sidebar gadget shows both cores at work and i can set which core runs processes in Task Manager but ive been told I may have to change the HAL...

ive checked in Devmgmt and it says ACPI 86x Based-PC (in Vista) theres no mention of Multiprocessor PC ... I dunno if this is right or not..

Task manager shows both cores

what do I do???
THANKS

A:Dual Core upgrade: do i need to re-install VISTA for correct HAL?

Who is what is telling you to change the HAL, the HAL for a Windows based PC just comes down to basically motherboard drivers.

From the sounds of it, nothing is wrong, or broken so could you elaborate please.

Thank you paulb100

windows xp pro failed to install correctly. How do I reformat new hard drive so I can start over?

A:Windows XP Pro failed to install correct how do I reformat new hard drive

Whenever you reinstall XP you get the opportunity to reformat the harddrive.
This may be of help http://tweakhound.com/xp/installxp/installXP1.htm
On the 4th blue screenshot when presented with your harddrive (partition) press "D" to delete the current partition, the harddrive then becomes "unpartitioned space" then press "C" to create the new partition- specify a partition size, or the whole drive, then highlight the 3rd option (as in the screenshot) "Format the partition using the NTFS file system"- depending on the Harddrive size it might take a while. Once it's finished you're formatted and you continue the install.

Hello, thanks for taking time to look at my post.

I'm planning to build a gaming PC that will allow me to run some of the newer titles, nothing fancy.
First off, how much ram do I really need? Will 8GB be okay or should I consider 16GB?
Also, how much will the speed affect my performance? What speed should I get? (keeping in mind I'm working on a budget)

Again, thanks for looking at my post and thanks in advance for any help you can give.

A:Correct amount and type of ram to install in a mid range gaming build

8gb will be more than enough for gaming. Dont buy just one 8gb stick, get 2 4gb ones, as you basically double you bandwidth with dual channel memory.
Speed and games doesnt make a huge amount of difference, 1333mhz or 1600mhz will be fine in a gaming rig.
Just make sure you set the correct speed in the bios as with most mobos ive encountered they run all dimms at 1066mhz default, regardless of the speed.

A:What's the BEST way to install video drivers , new Direct X,and remove older drivers?

This method works best for me. First off, I use Norton Ghost 2003 to make an image of my Windows drive. When I make this image, I have already installed WinXP SP1 plus all the latest Windows updates I can get. Also, I have already installed useful and necessary programs like Norton Antivirus 2002, ZoneAlarm Firewall, NoAds, Analog X Cookiewall. I make sure that I don't have any videocard drivers installed. As for Direct X, it's the default one installed when you first install WinXP.

Now that I have the image, I go on and try installing new Direct X versions or new videocard drivers. If something goes wrong and messes up my system or I'm not happy with the performance of the new drivers or Direct X, I use Norton Ghost 2003 to restore my image. By restoring the image, I have everything back--WinXP SP1 + all updates, programs I've installed, etc. The process only takes about 4 minutes compared to reinstalling Windows + all the programs manually (3-5 hours).

With the image backed up to that original point, I try alternative drivers or Direct X files until I find a setting I like.

This is the way I test new Detonator drivers and Direct X files. It's fool-proof and makes me more bold in trying out new stuff.

If you need more background on the benefits of Ghost 2003 and its usage, check out this guide at Radified.com:

http://ghost.radified.com/

Hope that helped.

BTW, if you remember the date that you installed Direct X9.0, you might be able to go back to your 8.1 setting by restoring your system to that point using System Restore found under Start Menu and System Accessories.

I recently tried to install a wireless network at work due to tech guys playing games after being hired. SO i install on PC, it locks up and crashes, causing me 2 days of headaches tracking down and installing/repairing windows. I get it going and the tech guys come and install the wireless cards around office.
Then they get to this PC, and does same thing did with me locks up but doesnt crash for them. Its a custom built PC by the way, they play with it a good hour and a half,
then say that I have to deal with it and suggested I first reinstall windows with the PCI reciever thing in, and then try and track down drivers for the mobo.

Anyone ever had an issue like this?its running XP Pro,

A:Drivers wont install, tech guy says MOBO drivers bad

Can you get it going any way at all - preferably in Safe Mode? If it fires up, hit Fuinction 8 and select the option to disable automatic restart on system failure. That should leave a blue screen error message on for long enough to read it. If you can go all the way to Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking, see what the Event Viewer has to say in Control Panel>Administrative Tools.

First. Do not connect the usb device.

Install the drivers for the device, and only connect the device when either prompted to do so, or after the installation is complete.

By checking Device Manager I saw that all USB devices had the yellow exclamation mark on them. Snapshot:

HI, I just installed windows 2000 professional onto my computer. Everything works fine except that the resolution is really grainy. On some web sites I cannot even make out what the words are. I found out that when I go into my monitor settings in display properties I am unable to install the drivers for my monitor. Does anybody know a way in which I can get around this.

A:monitor drivers unable to install on fresh windows 2000 install

Are you really referring to the monitor drivers or the Dispay Adapter drivers? The symptoms you describe sound like the latter issue.

Monitor drivers are no big deal to install, and even if you don't, Windows should use compatible plug and play drivers. Still it's a good idea to install them -- but you get them from the Monitor vendor site. You get the Display Adapter drivers from the Display Adaptor vendor's site.

What Display Adapter model do you have? And are they properly installed?

To install a Monitor driver, you download and unzip the .inf file from the Vendor. Then you select "update driver" and browse to the location of the file you unzipped. Once installed your Monitor should be recognized by model number.

A:Unable to Auto Install/Re-Install Generic Device Drivers

I'm having very much the same issue with a friends Dell w/o ps/2 ports. He removed ALL of his USB devices and is stuck at the new hardware wizard with no functioning mouse or KB.

It sounds like you managed to get yours going. could you explain to me (in simple terms) how you managed it?

Anyone run into this problem?
Existing install of XP - added a Seagate SATA drive - XP comes up and sees the new hardware (Raid controller) - and asks for drivers. I point it to the correct drivers (tried several different versions) - and it seems to start going along ok - and then comes up with the following message:
Cannot Install this Hardware. An error occured during the installation of the device. The system cannot find the file specified.

The strange thing is - is even though the Raid controller is in a state of ... hanging there with an exclamation mark on it in device manager - the system then comes up and sees the actual drive. But if I click on the raid controller in device manager - it says it is not working properly and cannot tell me what drivers are running it.....

Any help would be appreciated!!!

I purchased a Toshiba Satellite C50 loaded with windows 8 but want to revert to windows 7.

I have downloaded the necessary drivers and have mounted the .exe files onto a USB pen for installation.

Before I proceed to wipe windows 8 I'd like to know - if I install 7, will my trackpad stop functioning?

If so, how do I install the relevant drivers from the USB pen?

Thanks, John

A:Clean install of windows 7 - how to install drivers from USB memory stick?

99.9% sure that W7 will identify the trackpad and install it. You just run the exe's using file explorer or Start >Run then browse. You may decide to leave the laptop as the W7 install left it but you should check Device Manager to ensure there are no unrecognised devices

Hello everyone this network install boot-up after XP sp3 problem Windows and install Hi! drivers is my first time here Hopefully someone can shed some light on this problem as it has made everything grind to a halt My main computer just died so I figured I'd take my old computer which was never hooked up to the internet in order to always keep it clean as a baby's rear end and use it to run either diagnostics and or data recovery software on my malfunctioning C drive from my dead computer The Hi! Windows XP boot-up problem after sp3 install and network drivers install old computer had XP pro sp on it with a P processor and an Intel board The first obstacle was getting it online Simply plugging in the networking cable did nothing After endless amounts of reading it seems that because they computer was never meant to be online the networking or LAN drivers were never installed After many tries and much confusion I finally had someone find them online for me put the drivers on a thumbdrive and after a few attempts I was able to get this old girl connected But I must say for those who don't really know what they are doing very well the procedure for setting up the network connections was anything but easy The automated system for doing it failed every time No reason way So I finally managed to do it manually somehow To be honest I don't even remember now When you attempt to do something for hours in a row trying every possible solution it's easy to forget specifics Anyway I got hooked into the internet The next step was upgrading to SP which I had already placed on the desktop of the computer years ago That seemed to go well In addition to the LAN drivers I also had a bios update The person who got those for me knows far more than I do so I simply clicked on the exe for the bios update without questioning it which I assume was the latest version made for this old motherboard the Intel D PBZ After it was started it said to wait at least minutes An hour later the screen was still black Something was clearly wrong After more exhaustive trail and error it seems the bios update changed what I guess is called the Boot order I think So I figured out how to get into the bios I'd already been warned to NEVER change anything there without advice from an experienced individual Sure enough the st boot device was set to a floppy drive which the computer doesn't have Not knowing which of the three hard drives the OS was on I simply kept changing the boot order and on the second try Windows booted up All was well Or so I thought I started the long process of putting Firefox on it and making small changes All of this was for no reason other than gearing up for the upcoming data recovery attempt on the dead C drive from my other system I started browsing all of the many programs available for this purpose and R-Studio was decided upon Again all seemed well I had not yet even got the point of downloading the R-Studio recovery software yet when something horrible happened Sorry for taking so long to get to the point but I am always afraid I'll leave something important out which will help you guys advise me At this point I had to restart the computer for some reason Can't remember why After seeming like it was going to restart as usual it was taking to that black screen which asks you if you want to boot up in safe mode safe mode with networking normal mode or the last known good configuration Huh Why on earth did that happen I hoped it was just a minor glitch and it would be resolved after the restart So I selected Start Normally if that's what the terms were and it didn't work it just brought me back to the same black screen asking which mode I wanted to boot up into This time I selected Safe Mode Same thing right back to the black mode selection screen So I tried Normal again and it didn't work of course But I did notice something which might be important During the first few seconds while it was attempting to boot into Windows normally I... A:Cannot install driver / drivers missing on new install win7 ultimate

Hello and welcome Amazing I am not a fan of the Windows feature mate and always go for the manufacturers site for drivers
These are what you need I think http://h20565.www2.hp.com/portal/sit...tte.cachetoken

Now if you cannot connect to the net you might need to get them onto stick on another machine and install from the stick.

Hi all I'm working on a re-install of all components following a complete corruption of the boot Win7x64, Won't Drivers clean Install Audio - IDT install sector on my drive which could not be fixed with repairs The last time I installed everything fresh I had no issues Between then and now there have been no hardware changes on my system but now I am having issues installing the IDT Codecs I keep getting an error along the following lines Quote ExitError Error Device Object not present restart the system and run setup again Running under compatibility mode IDT Audio Drivers Won't Install - Win7x64, clean install and running drivers from both the motherboard CD and the manufacturer website both have the same effect The CD when booted says quot This OS not support quot and only contains -bit vista codecs ECS' website download indicates the IDT drivers as being compatible with Win IDT Audio Drivers Won't Install - Win7x64, clean install Both do not work It is almost as if the hardware quot disappeared quot despite the fact that I was using the drivers quite successfully till just days ago when the boot sector went kaput Windows has installed its own default set which do nothing to power the mm jacks which I use with my speakers but instead put sound through the HDMI which is useless because I use a dedicated graphics card I have tried uninstalling this codec and re-installing IDT to no effect Windows replaces IDT Audio Drivers Won't Install - Win7x64, clean install with its own default codec I have referenced this thread here but offered solutions do not seem to work for me Intel IDT Audio Driver will not install Looking for any guidance seeing as how ECS is not forthcoming with any help

A:IDT Audio Drivers Won't Install - Win7x64, clean install

Do you actually have the newer IDT audio chip or an older SigmaTel audio chip. In most cases the newer IDT drivers will not work with the older SigmaTel chips.

If the drivers are Vista compatible and the correct IDT or Sigmatel (32 and/or 64) they should work in Win 7.

When you reinstalled did you install any motherboard chipset drivers? Generally, on a reinstall if the chipset drivers are not installed then some device drivers and especially sound drivers will not install.

I am having a very similar problem to this topic: http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/t/591853/windows-10-browsing-and-apps-not-all-working-like-it-should/?p=3828789 In summary after updates have installed and everything looks good random drivers start installing - Intel Grapics / Network / wifi / device manager has all these new hardware installs when I look back in device manager, a rouge Skype.exe and one drive.exe install by themselves and hyper v modules appear to be added.
However it is occurring on all my hardware and Mac. IPv6 installs by itself and also creates a IPv6 tunnel on my router which I have tried to disable however it keeps reactivating. My ADSL service also looks compromised but my isp insists that I'm not even though I'm on router number 4 - this has been occurring for 3 months- I'm rebuilding every couple of days and it's driving me crazy!!! Plese help!

Can drivers usually be installed on top of existing drivers When reading Over Drivers Drivers? Existing Install the excellent Tutorial on Driver Installations at bleepingcomputer I noticed it did not seem to say that uninstalling drivers usually needed to be done before updating them However I read the following quote Install Drivers Over Existing Drivers? today that that seemed to contradict my understanding quot Before installing any new Install Drivers Over Existing Drivers? drivers make sure to go to Add or Remove Programs under the Control Panel and uninstall any previous drivers for your device then reboot Windows and install the new version quot Quoted from The Tweaking XP Guide at must download http www tweakguides com TGTC Install Drivers Over Existing Drivers? html Now I must be missing something because it also seems that most drivers are not listed in Add Remove Programs either I would like to update most of my drivers so I just wanted to get a feeling for what was the general rule of course I will TRY to see what specific update sites say Thanks everyone - yardcat

A:Install Drivers Over Existing Drivers?

Hi Yardcat,

For myself, unless the update specifically says that I need to uninstall the previous driver, I just allow the update to install over it.

I have never had any problems with doing it this way.
Hope that helps.

I recently performed a driver update on this computer using Driver Genius then I had to format and install a new drive on to which I've been trying to install XP

I can't connect to the Net although I have one 1394 connection installed.

Any ideas most welcome. In fact my first born may be available....

Hello I am getting ready to do a clean install of windows 7 on my PC. What would I need before I do the clean install and what is the proper order to install drivers. Also where would I get the drivers from? Should I let Windows pick the drivers or get them off my manufactures website?

Here Are My Computer Specs:

A:Doing Clean Install, Order To Install Drivers?

Visit the support page for your motherboard and download the chipset driver and LAN driver. Install those following the install and then run all rounds of Windows updates until no more are offered.

I just bought a GB SSD and I installed Windows Pro on it I was going to clone my drive but the SSD to USB cable I ordered was from China and won't arrive for more than a month I did not see that when I ordered it The install took but it didn't pick the USB ports wireless or ethernet up Normally I would go to the HP wireless, on Install without or USB, SD, drivers fresh install 7 LAN site download the drivers and call it a day This time however I simultaneously cannot access the internet my USB drive or my micro SD i e I have no way short of buying and burning a DVD to transfer the drivers to the drive I tried the generic USB drivers provided with windows but it still wouldn't read the drive Is there a generic driver for WIFI SD or USB bundled with windows that will work in cases like this I am a programmer and consider myself to be a modestly advanced user i e registry solutions and system hacks are fine Thanks in advance

A:Install drivers on fresh 7 install without USB, SD, wireless, or LAN

Are those USB 3 ports (blue ones)?

Try Linux Mint MATE (if asked for choose TRY and not INSTALL!) or Windows 7 Repair Disk (command prompt) to copy paste to SSD.

Hello Mp5shooter

There are lots of drivers on that Dell Resource CD which you need to install.

See this help from Dell. It tells you which order to install them.
Installing the video driver will probably fix your problem
