Acer Aspire 5552 charging/battery issue

Q: Acer Aspire 5552 charging/battery issue

Hello......
My Nephews laptops battery ran low and required charging. When the charger is plugged into the laptop the orange 'charging' light illuminates for approximately 6 seconds then, goes out for a further 6. This repeats continuously whilst the battery remains flat and the machine will not power up.
I have checked the output from the charger which is constant although I have no means, at present , of ascertaining the actual output values.
If there is anyone with any hints or clues I should be most grateful' Thanks.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

So the laptop will not turn on at all? Does it act the same if you remove the battery? If not the the adapter may be faulty, the DC jack in the laptop may have broken, or there's a motherboard failure in the laptop.

Testing with a known good and compatible power adapter would be the next step.

How old is the laptop, is it still under warranty?

I just bought a new battery for my Acer aspire 5570 from ebay. Its only charges for 20 minutes and windows power management detects it as a Unknown battery, and my Acer power management software says the battery is at 0% and does not go into sleep mode anymore.

Is this a battery problem or a software problem ... my old acer battery is at 50% capacity in about a year now and i really hope this problem is solvable or ill be permanently tethered to a outlet ....

HALP PLEASE

I have just gotten this thing. I decided to update the drivers since it seems that they are all at least 6 months old. The Acer updater says that there aren't any updates for it, but I browsed the net and techspot driver site and found a few. Namely realtek HD Audio driver. Found some BIOS updates as well. However I can't find the chipset update and I am not really sure about the rest being correct.
I am not used to laptops and don't want to install the wrong drivers and ruin it all.
So my question is: "where do You look for the drivers?" Can you share some links?
The support page on Acer's website has no chipset updates at all.

A:Who has Acer Aspire 5552?

I would personally stick to the Acer supported drivers, unless there is a specific reason you need to look elsewhere, like for example, something not working as it should.

Looks like the inverter has gone but try pressing the Fn key plus all the top row F keys one at a time, it's possible the brightness was reduced by that sort of key combo.

Hey guys, I'm pretty much a noob at this.
Long story short... My acer aspire 5552 will not stay on. When I turn it on I have to press on a certain area if not multiple areas. Before I had opened it and cleaned out the fan it use to overheat like crazy it used to hit about 90 degrees I'm wondering if that has ruined something?

Please help!
Thanks in advance

A:Acer Aspire 5552 won't stay on

First of all. Why do you have to hit certain area or for that matter. Multiple areas. It may still be running to hot. Or something was damage when you put in back togather. If it is running to hot . It may need new thermal pads.

I recently purchased an Acer Aspire 5552 laptop. It has been working perfectly until I installed Windows 7 updates then it started acting up. I decided to use the recovery disks to roll it back to factory settings. That has seemed to correct the problem except that, between the welcome screen and the actual desktop, I get a black screen with 8 blue dots in the upper left hand of the screen. Have never had them before the recovery. They don`t seem to be causing a problem as the laptop just continues on and works fine. Has anyone ever seen this before? Just a little concerned. Thanks for any help.

That is what those messages are basically telling you. It hasn't found a hard drive

Remove and reseat the hard drive and see if they go away.

You may be able to boot from a CD or USB and test the hard drive if it is recognised.

My Acer aspire 5552 notebook shut itself down without warning and now it won't boot up. I am getting a blue power light and for a few secs the fan runs then seems to run very slow and I hear the CD drive trying to start but then it stops and I just have a black screen. I've been searching the internet the last few days for a solution but not found one yet . Here's what I have tried .....

* I removed battery and power cord and pressed power button for 30secs.

* I pressed Fn & ESC added power cord then pressed power button. The fan ran faster but still nothing only black screen.

* I've tried updating bios but won't even read the USB stick.

* Tried HDMI cable with TV still nothing.

* tested CMOS battery that's OK.

Are there any other suggestions please or is it unfixable

Many thanks

Hi,

I am having trouble with the mouse and text size on a new acer aspire 5552 7803 laptop. Sometimes when I am tpying the text suddenly gets huge. At first I thought I was hitting the ctrl button by mistake but I am not. It is possible to make the text larger or smaller by using the arrow on the mouse, but this happens when I don't take my finger off the mouse immediately after I hit a key while typing. It is driving me mad. Does anyone have a solution ?

Thank you very much.

A:text size problems with acer aspire 5552 7803

Hi siobhanmacmahon and welcome to TSF.

Have you tried turning off the touch pad, so that just the mouse is in control and that there are no conflicts with it. Sometimes you may accidently brush over the pad with a sleeve or the cable etc and cause an issue. I think that pressing Fn + F7 together will turn it off and pressing Fn + F7 again will turn it on.

See if that helps.

I have an Acer Aspire V5-473P laptop. Originally it was Windows 8 then upgraded to Windows 10. Couple of days ago the hard-drive suddenly died. We put in another hard drive and did a clean installation of windows 10. Now it works fine, except that battery shows as plugged in, not charging. So it can only run with adapter and can't use battery at all. We tried reset the battery (use the reset battery pinhole and disconnect/reconnect battery). Also tried delete the battery's driver. After reboot the driver installed by itself. But neither of these methods work. Any suggestion on how to fix it? Thanks!

I have an Aspire ES1-512-P8NA laptop.  When it is connected to an external power supply, the battery meter has recently started indicating that it is plugged in but not charging.  The amount of charge seems to be stuck at 95%.  I've read a number of articles and posts suggesting fixes which involve removing and then replacing the battery, but this model does not allow that - the battery appears not to be accessible from the exterior of the computer.  Is there any other way of tackling this problem?

I've got a fairly new Acer Aspire V15 (I think I've had it a month). It is no longer charging at all. A few days ago it seemed the charger connection may have been loose - it was charging intermittently - I could wiggle it and find a spot where it would charge. Today it seems that there is no longer a connection when I plug in the charger. I read somewhere to take out the battery to see if the laptop would run solely on the charger, but it doesn't look like the battery can be taken out. Anyone have any recommendations for me?  Thanks!

hey guys, i am really desperate right now and i need some quick help.

a few days ago i ordered a laptop which arrived on friday and then i started to set it up with windows 10 and some software.

i immediately realized that the laptop is not charging.

in the windows taskbar, when i click on the battery logo, it says "0%, not charging"

i know that there is some threshold that the laptop only starts to charge when it's below a set value, normalle ~50%.

but the laptop is not charging at all, it's stuck at 0% and when i plug out the charging cable it turns off.

i also checked the battery with a program to see if it's broken, but the wear value is only at 2%, so that should be fine.

any help is appreciated!

First off seeing as it's a new laptop, can you not simply return it and get a replacement?

Second, as for the battery its either a bad battery or bad charger.

A:Acer V7-582PG / Battery charging while at full sta...

Hi, Every battery in any notebook has an integrated controller which does not allow charging after a specific voltage has been reached  (this is what you see as 100%). If it would not be like this and you will still charge it it would overcharge and eventually heat up and blow up. Most systems have in place the fact that the battery will charge to 100% and then it will not be charged till it will not reach again 95%. So you can see that the battery is at 98% and not charging. In some other notebooks (not acer) there are special settings which allow you how much you should charge the battery (eg maximum charge to be 70%). The point is that lithium batteries will wear even if you use it just plugged in because the optimal storage of a lithium battery is not at 100% charge. Also heat from the computer itself will cause the battery to wear.

Wonder if anyone's seen something like this... I just got a new battery for my Acer TravelMate 230, and it seems to be having a wee issue: the battery meter sits at 0% while it's plugged in, until after a couple hours it jumps to 75%, and won't go beyond there. If I unplug the power, it'll run for a good half hour with the meter at 75%, after which it drops to 0% again, although the laptop continues to run for a good hour-and-a-half or more.

The retailer suggested giving it three full charge/discharge cycles... it's on the third charge cycle now, and still sitting at 0% after almost an hour on AC. This doesn't seem right at all. This is the first time I've actually had to buy a new battery for a laptop - is this common?

A:Acer laptop battery charging problem?

I betcha' this is a calibration issue...

I can't find where I read it, just the other day, but I'm sure someone here is familiar with the process.

There's also a possibility that it's a counterfeit battery, even coming from a retailer...

Good Day! For 2 days now, I'm having a problem when it comes to charging my laptop. I'm not sure if the problem is the battery or the ac adaptor, itself. But I think, it's the ac adaptor. Because I have to disconnect and connect again the socket(you can take it off) in my ac adaptor for a couple of times before it start charging continously. I get the same problem everytime I charged my laptop and there is an orange blinking happening when you know it's not yet charging. So I might be correct that the problem is my ac adaptor? How much do you think is the cost of a new ac adaptor?  Thanks!

I can't turn my laptop with just the AC adaptor on however if the battery is put in,it boots it up fine. The light on the AC adaptor is on green (not blinking but still). What is the fault of this problem,is it the AC or is it the battery?

A:Acer Aspire 5633 laptop charging problem

Is the battery charging when on AC power?
if not either faulty power brick /cable or bad power jack / voltage supply board on laptop.

I have bought an ACER iconia w4 821 windows 8.1 tablet. I wasn't using it for about a month but it was kept fully charged. But today when I try to start it by pressing ths ON button, it wasn't starting. When I plugged it into charging and tried to ON again, it worked. But the problem is the battery is showing 100% full, but when I plugged it out of charge it turns OFF and doesn't start until I plug it into charging again and press the ON button. I have tried several times but same result. Exactly whaere is the problem? How will I solve this? Thanks in advance.

Hi there,
I've been having a strange issue with the battery/charging of my Acer Aspire 5742 laptop.
A couple of weeks ago, the laptop suddenly stopped charging. At this point I replaced the charger, and still it wasn't working, I then replaced the battery too. I found that both the charging cable and the battery had stopped functioning.(I.e. Would not work unless both new items were in use).

It then worked fine for the past 2 weeks, until yesterday. It wouldn't charge, but when I tried it this morning it charged once but now it won't work again.... I'm very confused.
If you need me to turn my laptop on to check things it currently has about 2 hours battery before it drains.

Any ideas?

This one has had me confused for some time I am nearly certain at this point that it is the motherboard that will need to be replaced but I wanted to see if there was anybody here that has dealt with this issue that may offer a little insight on the situation Specs HP Pavillion DV - dx GB RAM GB HDD GHz Intel Core Duo Processor Windows x I started having several issues with this machine on boot so I upgraded the BIOS OS and RAM This resolved most of the issues but now we come to the part of the story that has me stumped The machine is having an unusual charging issue If I were to remove AC power from the unit while the battery is plugged in I will not be able to charge the battery again until I completely power the unit off remove the battery plug the AC adapter in and replace the battery The exception to this rule is if I power the unit completely off or hibernate it and remove the AC I will be able to plug it back in anytime before I power that unit back on and it will function normally I have since replaced both the AC adapter and the battery but the issue persists I have checked all of the advanced power options in the control panel I have not altered the registry in any way as of yet because I believe this is a hardware issue If anybody has any insight into this issue let me know I would very much like to know at least what is causing it to justify buying a new mobo or any more parts for the machine Thanks Don nbsp

My question is do I need to replace the AC adapter ? or there is some problem with my charging jack / bios etc.

I own a Toshiba Satellite P running Windows XP SP I m in a funny situation regarding my battery battery charging that I ve never heard about I recently purchased a new battery because my old one wasn t holding a charge The battery WILL charge but only when the laptop is powered off or in standby When the power cord is inserted the instant I power on the charge light turns off I ve checked the power while in Windows and it reads quot AC power discharging quot instead of quot charging quot On very rare occasions the charge light on the laptop will remain on for a while after I turned off the computer but will eventually go out I ve tried playing with the amount of plug I insert into the laptop but it makes no difference I m suspecting it s a hardware problem with the actual port inside the laptop like maybe it s loose But that doesn t explain IMO why it only charges when the power is off Or is it likely to be the power cord itself I d love to hear what you pros think Thanks in advance nbsp

I have a probook 4540s. I recently bought an aftermarket battery as my OEM battery was completely dead. But the problem with it is that, the battery only charges when the laptop is off. But while connected to outlet and on the battery does not take any charge. The laptop starts with only adapter or battery just fine. I checked by reducing processing power to see whether the battery takes any charge but nothing happens. It neither charges nor discharge. I used batteryBar software to see charging rate. Its flat zero all the time when the laptop is on. What can I do to overcome this issue.

hi there,

I have a Acer Aspire E1 570 laptop that I use for college, the laptop is less then 8 months old. For some reason recently it starting going dead at 40% battery charge remaining. I ran a powercfg -energy from the command prompt and it said that my batterys designed charge is 37000 and last full charge untill the battery read it was fully charged is 36526. If some one would happen to know why this is happening that would be great, as i use the laptop on the battery all the time while i'm at school. I was thinking maybe just refresh the PC from the recovery i made using the provided software with the computer. I'm unsure if that would correct the issue. As well as i haven't found anything on google for this issue on my laptop.

Thanks

I would contact Acer, since the laptop is still within the warranty period. There are programs out there that can "fix" errors like this. Most likely you just have a bad battery pack in your laptop.

Hi,

I've found a number of threads with similar issues, but none of the solutions worked for me, so here it goes:
I have an L500-1GE, which is about 6 years old, but hasn't been used much.
Since yesterday, it won't charge when plugged in, and when I pull the plug, it immediately shuts down (everything goes black suddenly), although it shows the battery to have about 25% power.

I have just installed the newest bios (2.10) from Toshiba's official site, but I don't know if this has anything to do with the aforementioned issue.

Should I just buy a new battery, or is there something to try before that?
Thanks!

What to say; the coffe has been spilled on the notebook and any fluid is not really good for a internal parts especially for the motherboard.

I have no idea what part has been damaged exactly due to the spilled coffee but it looks like an motherboard part is affected. Maybe the power supply electronic is faulty?

I think the notebook needs an check? and don?t ask any pseudo amateur technicians because such guys just talk about possible issues.

The unit needs to be checked by an professional technician (Toshiba authorized service partner in your country) who has some special tools and diagnosis software.

I recently got a new Hp Omen 17-w033dx from Best Buy. I have noticed when the computer is idle it uses the battery instead of the charger, even though it's plugged in. When I get on the laptop the next day, usually it's shut itself down due to the battery being drained. It will only start charging the battery again if I unplug the charger and plug it back in, after this the charging resumes. Today the battery is currently at 55% and says (Plugged in, not charging) as I have not unplugged the charger and plugged it back in yet today as I wanted to see if it would begin charging on its own, which it isn't. I have to do this every day. Help would be appreciated!

Its because HP sucks and is c*As  usual HP always has to offer you faulty products just like me I recieved a all in one which had hardware issues and usb problems the reasons it isnt charging:HP is cheap so you know what to expect the ports on my PC dont work properly just like  yours this is normal being a HP user so your Laptops plug is either not fitting in because HP was to lazy to make a proper fit in the charging port ORbecause your laptop is a power sucking junk and the port is either faulty like everything else they make. HP wont help you because you did'nt buy it from their website dont waste your time just refund it FAST and custom build a laptop with your own choices or custom build a pc I prefer PC since it can handle morego to Techsource's youtube channel he reviews products and custom builds epic PC's and shows a benchmark test for them trust me you got ripped off my HP Techsource even builds GAMING Pc's for only $350 up to $6000  here heres a link to his youtube channel dont waste your time like I said HP wont help you due to the fact you got it from best buy so instead check his channel out and refund you laptop and build a PC from techsource's channel HERE: Techsource:https://m.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLTW2MN17j-L2iftY8hrTSW1GJRZNvy3vb Custom build a PC or laptop from this website (The VAT is pretty expensive though but better than owning your dumb HP):http://www.pcspecialist.co.uk remember Refund this junk or suffer all these years!!!

Hi,
My laptop is a Satellite M70-165 PSM70E. I'm using Windows XP Home. I recently bought a new battery and it is impossible to charge it above 50%. I updated BIOS to 1.70 (for non Windows Vista users) and I still have the problems aforementioned. I tried to dischage it completely and charge it again, several times, with no luck.

Is there any solution?

One more question. There is no "EC version" in BIOS, only "BIOS version 1.70". I hoped there will be some battery calibration or power management after BIOS update, but there is no "Power Management" menu in BIOS.

Is that correct?

> recently bought a new battery and it is impossible to charge it above 50%

In my opinion the new battery is not OK.
You should definitely check another new battery? maybe you bought an already used battery???

>One more question. There is no "EC version" in BIOS, only "BIOS version 1.70".
On the Toshiba EU driver page you can find one BIOS update.
I assume such update contain the EC update too.

A:How to remove battery from acer aspire e15 e5-575t...

You don't need to take out the battery as there's a built in mechanism to turn off charging once the battery fully charged, if you insist on removing the battery, you need to take off the back cover and removing the battery similar to the model in the link below. You need to remove the service hatch( for HDD and RAM) first for your model.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZHJhiwxsWWMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXNKOkdrEhI

Hello,

I have an ACER Aspire 3680 laptop. About 1 year ago, I purchased an OEM battery (compatible based on number match) to replace the manufacturer's battery that had stopped charging. I installed the battery, plugged in the AC adapter and turned on the computer. Once fully booted, the battery icon said "Battery not found". The laptop works as long as it's plugged in to the AC adapter, but powers off immediately if the adapter is removed.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware issue or a software issue. My thought is that it might be solved by updating a driver, but it could also be that the hardware that converts the AC to charge the batter is defunct.

I appreciate all suggestions!

A:Acer Aspire 5534 battery won't charge

First check that the laptop works on mains power by removing the battery and having the a/c adapter plugged in.

if the laptop works on mains power okay, you need a new battery.

There are 10.8V, 4400mAh / 48Wh parameters on original battery and I want to replace with battery having 11.1V, 4400mAh / 49Wh parameters. Will I have any issues with new battery? Hello, how much is duration expectancy before battery must be recharged for this model? I know it depends of what are you working, but my battery is empty after little more than one hour of usual work (internet browsing, no multimedia). I am on balanced power profile and not on full performance. Nothing working in a background. I even installed SSD. This was the case with the first battery when I bought my device five years ago and today I bought new battery with even more capacity and the short time of usage still remains.

Do you have screen brightness set to 100%? The screen is the biggest drain on the battery.Try calibrating the new battery so it can get a sense of run time.http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/11574/~/how-do-i-calibrate-my-battery%3FIf you upgraded to Windows 8, you will have to go through settings to get to Safe mode.Keep it plugged in until you start Safe mode.http://www.digitalcitizen.life/5-ways-boot-safe-mode-windows-8-windows-81

Clearly something wrong with the battery on my Acer Aspire 7740 laptop. Preloaded with Windows 7, 64-bit o.s. [would love to get rid of that]. Battery, which is always fully powered, allows only 1 1/2 to 2 hrs use off power. Transformer is functioning, connection to laptop is good. I have a lousy battery, right? This product is under warranty, was purchased about 4 months ago.
Lots of problems. Have attempted to work with Acer support, but the communication is not only difficult, but virtually useless. Most of the time they can't understand the problem.

Good Morning everyone.

I recentally bought an acer aspire 5000 laptop on craigslist to replace my macbook that was stolen from the coffee shop... looked for another macbook but couldn't find any reasonably priced so decided to give windows 7 a try. it has windows 7 professional installed. 1.8 amd turion 64 processor and 2 gb ram. it needed a battery so i got a new one thru amazon. installed the new battery, charged it until indicator turned green. my question is is 2 2 hours and 10 minutes reasonable battery life or do i need to calibrate the battery monitor? new battery has been installed for almost 2 weeks. my macbook got almost 4 hours on a charge...

A:Battery life on Acer Aspire 5000

That is normal if you are have power settings to high performance on battery. if you have power settings to power saver mode, then it is a little short of life.

I am looking for a replacement battery for my ACER Aspire 3634WLMi laptop and have noticed one available in Australia which is listed as a replacement for the Aspire 3630 and wondered if anyone could advise if this would be a suitable replacement for me.

Part number for the existing battery is:
Sanyo 4UR18650Y-QC219 Rating 14.8v at 2000mAh.

The replacement however is quoted at 11.10V at 6600mAh.

Anyone have any idea if the voltage difference will cause any problems?

How long does the battery take to charge?
How long does the battery last before having to recharge? (Just say for general purpose)
I just bought one and i forgot to ask. I couldn't find it anywhere in the User manual.

A:Battery For A Acer Aspire 3000 Notebook

i found that the user manual is on the notebook, they must be cheap as they don't seem to print them out these days. Anyway i found that it takes about 3.5 hours to charge if that is right or not and lasts about 3 hours before recharging if that's right.

A:Acer Aspire-951822 (Battery Trouble)

Yup, that's it. So the battery is internal, but I'd like to go over a power reset just to make sure.

It will be a bit tricky, but hit the battery pin hole reset with a paperclip or something similiar. You should feel a pretty definitive recession when you push on it. If you can, hold the power button for 10-30 seconds and then try.

If that fails, I'd recommend contacting your local service team as I can't think of any other troubelshooting and I suspect that the battery has failed.

To help you understand, what type and size of the battery is required for your laptop, you can check it by removing the battery from the back side of the laptop.- To do this, first of all please make sure you turned off the laptop and the power connections.- Now turn the laptop to the back side and pulled the clips to remove battery, which is the only removable part from the outerside.- Now you can check the specification of the battery and find it online on the manufacturers website.- Your battery is of 4400 mAh Capacity, 6-cell.- Ac adapter input is AC 120/230 V (50/60 Hz). Hope this will help you.
