I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: touch screen not 'touching'! win xp

you won't get multi-touch to work, but here's a solution for "regular" touch i found on amazon.com:

“The kind folks at Viewsonic have carefully concealed the fact that, as shipped, the touch-screen function of this model does not work under Windows XP.

Yes, if you read the user guide, it says "connect the USB cable to your Windows 7 system," but that's the ONLY indication that this much-ballyhooed touchscreen monitor is a touchscreen ONLY if you have W7.

In fact, if you e-mail them, they will say that no XP driver is available.

HOWEVER, the touchscreen "guts" of the monitor identify themselves as a "Taction" touchscreen, which is actually made by Quanta. The HP L2105tm touchscreen monitor is based on the same hardware, and the HP driver (http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=382087&prodSeriesId=4031739&prodNameId=4031753&swEnvOID=228&swLang=13&mode=2&taskId=135&swItem=vc-78373-1) will work with it.

It's a nice monitor, at a good price, but it loses 3 stars because (a) it doesn't come with an XP driver, and (b) Viewsonic incorrectly says that none is available.

This is the kind of baloney that drives me crazy. Shame, shame, shame.”

My screen has developed two spots that activate without touching and the mouse moves to one of those spots.  One is at the very top of the screen and the other is about 2 inches below the first.  At times I can see the cursor jump between the two spots.  Using the touch pad I move the cursor back and shortly after I do the screen will move it back.  Wiping the screen with a cloth wil sometimes stop the movement but after 20 to 30 min it will come back.  I have rebooted the system and it will still do it.  It is always teh same 2 spots on the screen.

I just reformatted my pc. After I installed all drivers, I realized that I also needed to install the driver for my NEC MultiSync LCD1560V+ Touch Screen Monitor. So I went to NEC's website and installed the driver. This driver is not an exe. file. Instead, it's a zip. file that contains 3 system files (see attached).

I am thinking I might have installed this driver incorrectly. I just clicked the Cat file and installed the certificate.

Right now, I can my monitor to view but the touching function is not working, forcing me to use a mouse for control. Can anyone Help me fix this problem?? thank you!

Ever since I bought this Pavilion for my daughter (less than a year ago) she has experienced problems with it. The touchscreen appears to have a will of its own. A:Lenovo S210 Touch broken LCD and Touch screen

Hi Magnutus, welcome to the forums.

Please check if you Lenovo S210 is on warranty under with this tool.
After that you can open a ticket with Lenovo for the screen to be fixed, if it is not under warranty it will have a cost.

If you are the guys that like to fix it yourself (and it is not under warranty) I can recommend you to check the support site for your model, read the Hardware Maintenance Manual (on the documents area) and check how the machine is organized on the inside. On the parts lookup page you can find the parts number so you can find a replacements for the component that is giving you issues.

I hope this links helps you.

Yesterday I was on my laptop and before I shut it down it went into what looked like a different mode. I booted it up this morning and it is still in this mode. It looks like touch screen mode but I do not have a touch screen.  The icons on the task bar are spaced out and there is a back button on the task bar too which is not normally there. When i right click against the task bar, one of the buttons says "Show touch keyboard button".  All of my files are spead out as if to have room for touching if I had a touch screen but I do not. I am finding this very annoying because I cannot get onto my desktop properly and is not in the right mode. Please help!

Check the Touch funtionality in OKR environment.
Turn off the computer and Turn it back on and right away start tapping F2.
Select Recovery. Once in the Recovery screen Test the touchscreen by touching any of the option if it will respond.

If the touchscreen works in OKR Environment, I suggest you perform a One key recovery (expect dataloss).

If the touchscreen still did not work in OKR Environment, I suggest you call Lenovo Technical Team for assistance.

Hello @JeffJadoo, Thank you for visiting the HP Forums! The Forums are a great place where you can find solutions for your issues, with help from the community! I understand that you are having an issue with the Touch Screen, and wanted to assist you! Did the notebook originally ship with Windows 10?  How did you go about formatting the notebook, and installing Windows 7?  You may be able to use the Recovery Manager to restore the drivers, however, based on how you installed Windows, the Recovery Partition may already be removed.  You can also try reviewing the following document, to see if the information helps: HP Notebook PCs - Touch Screen Issues (Windows 8) Please post back with the results.  It is possible that the Touch Screen may not be supported for Windows 7 on that particular notebook. Please let me know if this information helps you resolve the issue by marking this post as "Accept as Solution", this will help others easily find the information they may be looking for.  Also, clicking the Thumbs up below is a great way to say thanks! Have a great day!

Is it possible?I've read that whether screen you are changing, its working depends on the quantity of pins on the Video signal connector.

Hey all, I woke up this morning and started using my computer to find that there were white spots on my computer screen that I had not previously noticed. I have had the computer for two years and haven't had any similar issues. There does not appear to be anything wrong with the pixels, as the color changes appropriately - it's just brighter. Furthermore, the bright spots on the screen heat up much more than the rest of the screen, which remains cool. I also noticed that, though this may be a separate issue, the touch screen isn't responding. Here is an image (it's much more noticeable on a white background): http://imgur.com/09sYisg   Any help is much appreciated!

I have an Inspiron 13 7000 series.  Bought it in 2015. Now it appears I have something called ghost touching.  My computer acts like it is possessed. what do I do? .

A:Ghost touching

Hi GHOST TOUCHING,
What is the exact system model? When did the issue start? What is the OS installed on the system? Please write a detailed description of the issue and any troubleshooting that you have possibly tried.
When you mean ghost touching, do you mean the cursor moves around by itself? If yes, and if you have a touchscreen system, then disable the touch in device manager and check if the issue is resolved - see this link - http://bit.ly/1VtNPdq
Update the BIOS - http://dell.to/1n3X2po - enter the service tag and click on drivers and downloads and update the BIOS.
On the same site above, check if there is an LCD firmware available, if yes, then update the same and restart the system and check.
Keep us updated.

Hello folks- my hotmail address (via sympatico.ca) resisted the verification/registration link...tried copy/paste to browser and got #10120 error code. For 4/5 months been having to restore this Vista home premium Cortisol Edition (PresarioF700/750ca Lap) sometimes twice a week...lately a bit better with windows updates *but* still . behaves "somewhat" like I may have the Windows Recovery Virus. About 4 months ago the user input behaved strange..changed username...locked me out, then old username/password got it to work again. I have basic Webroot A/V and Windows security essentials running. I'm interested in Combofix- but cautious as I don't have skills to manipulate and work with files/ file paths. It also seems to have a 'redirect' issue. Going back to try the registration/verification link at hotmail again- thanks

I put my XPS 1820 to sleep and just by touching anywhere on the screen it wakes up.
Given how big the screen is, it is too easy to wake the computer from sleep. Is it possible to disable wake by touch and only wake by pressing the power button?
Thanks.

A:XPS 18 waking up by touching

I have narrowed down the problem to one thing: once bluetooth is disabled (AC7260) the touchscreen no longer wakes the computer from sleep. As you can imagine it took me a while to figure out. The bundled keyboard and mouse still works without bluetooth.

I've just upgraded my mobo and CPU. However, with my old system it was possible to start up my computer with just the touch of a key on the keyboard (Meaning I didn't have to scrabble around under my desk to press the power button). With my new system this doesn't work. So my question is...is this to do with some windows XP setting that I'm not aware of ?

My old Mobo and CPU went to a friend...and his computer won't start from the touch of a key either. Of course, his windows OP is different, as mine was off a restore disk...so I'm thinking that it may be possible that the restore disk had this setting (If indeed it is a setting) activated on install.

Any thoughts would be welcome.
Kind regards..mel

Although I?m not using Windows 7 OS yet, what it has to offer & all that I?ve seen, it's pretty impressive. I'm in the process of deciding whether to go with the upgrade W7 or purchase a new Laptop/Notebook? One concern or complain I must state. I understand that Windows 7 comes with touch screen capabilities, but ONLY works with a human touch? Being physically disabled & cannot use my hands at all I type by using a head-pointer with an eraser for a tip. Yes, I?m not going to be dishonest here, I?m using an aftermarket touch screen with Vista, but I?m leery on how (or if) I can still use it with W7? I don?t know how, but I would just love to get in contact with a MS Developer to express my views. Am I correct in assuming that the touch screen option requires a human finger touch?

A:Touch screen in W7?

W7 isn't limited to touchscreens that only respond to finger operation but to touchscreens whose controllers identify them as HID touch devices, a relatively new category. W7, like its predecessors, recognizes HID mouse devices, which most touchscreens have been until recently. Treating a touchscreen as a mouse has never delivered the best user experience, as it precludes right-click-on-hold, calibration, edge acceleration, and many other valuable facilities. Consequently, vendor-specific drivers, which do provide these facilities, have been used. W7 accepts most of these drivers. In the WDM driver stack, these are lower-level drivers. To the OS, the device still appears to be mouse. Therefore, none of the new touchscreen-specific features of W7 will be available.

The reason that you might have heard that only finger operation is supported is that W7 recognizes as touch devices only those that identify themselves as HID-touch. Of these, only the ones that generate touch-specific events allow you to use gestures and multi-touch. The two technologies most likely to support these are capacitive, which requires finger activation, and wire-matrix digitizer, which requires an electronic pen. W7 can still use other touchscreens, including old ones, but the new capabilities will not be available.

I'm planning to buy a new laptop but will never be using the touch screen. Will I lose any functionality in Win10 by just using a mouse and keyboard with a touch-screen laptop? Do touch screen models use a different version of Win10?

BTW, I know I can buy a non-touch screen model and may do that, but we're looking for a large screen and non-touch choices are limited.

A:Not using touch screen

There's no problem with that, any icons or tiles are clickable with mouse, just like everywhere else. For touch screen devices there is "Tablet mode" and can be turned off to behave same as any other desktop/laptop. If device doesn't have touch screen, Tablet mode is disabled by default.

Tablet Mode - Turn On or Off in Windows 10

There's no special version of Windows for such cases except for Windows phones.

My touch screen stopped working under Windows 8. I tried every step I could find on these forums - disabling the touch screen driver, restarting, updating the driver - with one exception; under Component Tests in my HP Diagnostics UEFI, there is no Touch Screen component listed. It is there under Device Manager etc., but cannot be found in the UEFI. I updated the computer to Windows 10 and the problem remained. I restored the computer to its factory settings and the problem has remained. There is no damage to the computer, which is still quite new, and which works perfectly in every other respect. Previously, the touch screen might stop working and a restart would solve the problem, but it has not worked at all for some time now. Any suggestions?

Looking into using a touch screen monitor. I use Windows 7 Home Premium and I understand that Windows Touch is available on the version.

If I would get the monitor, do I need to find drivers or are they include with Win 7?

Is anyone using a touch screen monitor now?

Looking at Windows 8, I have been playing with the Consumer Preview copy and it looks like a touch screen would be useful with Win 8 if a person would decide to upgrade to that.

Thanks

A:Touch screen anyone using

Hello Jack, welcome to Sevenforums!

Touchscreen is useful, and fun. It is by no means neccessary, however. Windows has a standard driver, but for a touchscreen, you will want to look up the driver on the monitor's manufacturer's website. There are 2 different drivers - 64 and 32 bit. Make sure you get the right one according to your system.

If I were to use touchscreen, it would be because of application(s) that require it, or are easier to use because of it.

this problem is with ALL windows. where ever the curser/pointer rests if it is on any thing. it makes it do what ever pointer rests on, like if I'm looking around a web page/ site and my pointer just goes over ( with out stopping on
it, just brushes over the box ) the  drop down will open and it will open covering what I wanted to look at so I have to move the pointer OFF the object and left click the mouse on an open spot where there are no objects to select.
this problem s on XP/VISTA/7/8/AND 10

Hello.

When I plug in an external HDD (WD 1TB HDD), it appears to have a lot of activity.
I go to Task Manager->Resource Monitor, and I see that WUDFHOST.exe is accessing almost every file in the HDD.

The only AntiVirus Program I have is Windows Defender, and I have already specified the program to not scan my HDD.

Is this activity anything I should worry about?
Can anyone explain exactly what WUDFHOST.exe is?

By the way, I have confirmed that WUDFHOST.exe is part of Windows\System32, so it's not a virus.
It's just kind of disturbing.

Thanks!

A:WUDFHOST.exe Touching my Files

From what I'm able to find out...it's accessing the drivers on your system , it's a 'container' for system and hardware drivers , it checks the validity of them and is part of the system for driver updates , people have reported a lot of activity and/or ram use if they have outdated drivers for peripherals etc.

I want to reinstall Windows 7 on my machine but I can't have Windows 7 messing with my MBR. If Windows 7 wipes out my MBR I'm going to be reinstalling Fedora 14 also and that is going to ruin my day. Can this be done?

I am using a wireless keyboard (second one as I thought the first one was faulty). Suddenly, and with no warning my screen starts to develop a continuous row of capital P's and the only way to stop it is to unplug the remote keyboard dongle and revert to using my laptop keyboard. Any suggestions?

A:Continous PPPP's without me touching anything

Welcome to Seven Forums Lisak.
Try another USB port. If it has software (drivers) reinstall it. Pry the "P" key off and see if there is any dirt under it.

I have an Intel I7 Desktop with a 30in screen.

I wish to run Win8, and have the touch screen capability. Is there, say, a glide pad type touch screen that I can buy to input touch gestures? Maybe 8" or even better, use an app on an iPad?

I need to keep my large screen for a few reasons, one of which is that I am disabled, and my sight is failing, so I am seeking an addon glide pad type solution.

Doug

A:Alternate Win 8 Touch Screen

do you mean like a trackpad/touchpad?

like this?

or this?
These are the Lenovo Wireless Windows 8 TouchPad K5923 and the Logitech T650, respectively. They'll give you the standard swipe gestures as well as provide additional gestures. However, the experience is not quite the same as a true touchscreen. They are, at the heart, trackpads that recognize multitouch.

If anyone is thinking of buying an HP Envy all in one touch screen computer then DON'T do it I bought one less than months ago The touchscreen failed and rendered the whole computer inoperable It took several hours on the phone to get them to agree to take it in for repair After three weeks they claimed to have repaired it and sent it back They changed all the settings and locked them so I could not put the settings back to how they were I don't like one all Envy touch HP screen in working on a black screen with white writing It took another couple of hours on the phone to get them to fix it Now less than two months later the exact same problem with the touchscreen has arisen again It has taken two days to get them to agree to take it back in for repair They cannot collect it until next Thursday It will take another two weeks after that before it's repaired and returned to me I am really really disappointed with this machine and warranty service especially so as it was very expensive

So today i woke up to find my laptop has a lovely greeny-bluish vertical line through the screen. It comes and it goes when i move the screen so its probably something that can be repaired, right? (Thats question 1 over with).

I have always wanted a touch screen laptop but unfortunately the price was out of my league when looking for a laptop. Now i have a 15.4inch laptop which is fine (apart from the screen problem above^) and i was wondering if i could purchase a new screen which has touch screen capabilities. I really don't know where to look for answer so i thought i'd ask here.

Question One: Could be a prob with the pixels, or the cords are playing up :S

Question Two: You could either get a new laptop with the touch screen, or you could get another screen and plug it into the vga port.

Our product is using HP RP2 as touch screen terminal. After entering the application, if we click around a lot about the scrolling bar or the arrows, the scrolling will go opposite of the touch, but if we insert a input mouse, the cursor will be working fine, so I think it's because of the one of the touchings doesn't get released and make the scrolling bar not be touched at the right place. Can someone help me identify and solve this issue? Thanks

The touchscreen on my HP Envy All-in-one started to go crazy with phantom touches being detected shooting up and down the right half of the screen nbsp I have to disable the HID-compliant touch screen in device manager in order fault Screen Touch to be able to do any work on it nbsp Initially I simply unplugged every device shut down and nbsp disconnected the power then left for a few minutes and restarted This did not help I downloaded all of the latest updates for windows and then all of the latest graphics and firmware drivers But no change In case it was caused by an update I did a system recovery and returned windows to default but this has not helped either I ran the UEFI System Diagnostics on start up and performed the Touch screen tests - it seems that i was able Touch Screen fault to complete the test on the left side of the screen but the right did Touch Screen fault not respond with frequent phantom touches nbsp I was unable to complete the test nbsp Additionally for some time now the screen flashes on and off especially when it seems to be running hot nbsp This happened regardless of whether 'Problem Reports and Solution Control Panel' nbsp and 'Windows Error Report Service' are disabled nbsp This is the second HP Envy All-in-one I've had in just over months and the first was replaced due to very similiar issues with a faulty screen nbsp It seems like this one's screen has gone now too so it was either a faulty batch or the HP Envy All-in-one has a fundamental fault

Hello well last year one of the head phones in my pocket with my ipod smashed into my LCD screen when I fell which made two greay dots and me being a tech nerd knew its a busted LCD which I cannot fix so I lived with it well over the summer while I was not using it one dot is has dissapeard and the other larger one has moved about 2.5 centemeters up so my question is, is there a way to accellerate this process so the the other one goes away as well?

I have a Dell SX2210T touch screen monitor that worked with my Dell computer and then with a replacement computer running Windows 8 & 8.1. Then along came Windows 10 and my monitor has no touch capability. Even the monitor driver/s have disappeared. Device Manager lists no touchscreen device. I tried to get a driver from the Dell site, but this proved to be a no, no as I just went round in circles and never got a driver.

Does any one know how I can resolve this annoying problem? I don't have any software to reinstall from . OR... do I just forget touch screen ability?

Regards,
Alistair

Hello,

I use  Lenovo S510p Ideapad that I've had for around four months.

I recently today, I installed some Windows updates. (I didn't upgrade to Windows 8.1 though.)

When I rebooted my touch screen had stopped working and I can not find out how to get it to work again. My drivers are all up-to-date and I have not done anything to damage the touch screen function.

What can I do about this?
