Preferred Solution: Computer Freeze/Crash. Weak processor? Because case fan is unplugged? PLEASE help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Ran the dumps from the last 7 days, they are both Verifier enabled and not Verifier enabled naming different processes, this usually means hardware but not always.

Network Magic is pretty old and no longer on the market, Uninstall the program and see if that helps.>

Hello

I bought a new pc recently (q6600) which just had onboard graphics and a 450W psu. I bought a nvidia 9800gt and a new 600W psu as I thought that would be needed. Now I am getting crashes, mainly whilst playing games. When I say crash, I mean the screen freezes, it doesn't go black, but it's also slightly warped the picture. I thought this might be either the cpu or gfx card overheating, but it's also happened when there was little strain on either, and the cpu temp was only 39. This didn't happen before I installed the psu and gfx card, but then I wasn't really playing games before that as it only had onboard graphics.

Anyone have any ideas/suggestions?

A:Computer freeze/crash

Hi rubix1415 Welcome to Techspot!!

When your screen freezes as you say how do you use the PC again? do you need to reboot or can you ctrl+alt+delete and then end the process?

Have you installed the drivers with the graphics card? I'm guessing you would have with it picking up the picture but when you installed the drivers were there any problems?

Can i just ask as well what games you are playing? this could be important as some have had problems with some graphics card WOW in particular.

Finally how are you measuring the CPU temp? are you doing this through BIOS or 3rd party app

Thanks

Lately, when I play games for about 15-30 minutes, my screen shuts off and my computer freezes. Occasionally the sound will loop or it will keep playing sounds with no response.

This has only been happening the past few days and I can't figure it out.

Can anyone help me?

A:Display Crash and Computer Freeze

I'd say either overheating of the GPU, or a DirectX issue since sound is affected as well. Try reinstalling DirectX. Did you look in the Event Log for anything suspicious?

Hello dg281, and   to the Virus/Trojan/Spyware/Malware Removal forum.

I am oneof4, and I am here to help you!

I ask that you refrain from running tools other than those I suggest to you while I am cleaning up your computer. The reason for this is so I know what is going on with the machine at any time. Some programs can interfere with others and hamper the recovery process.

Please perform all steps in the order received and do not proceed if you need clarification.

Please copy and paste all logs into your post unless directed otherwise. Please do not re-run any programs I suggest. If you encounter problems please stop and tell me about it. I recently upgraded from Windows 98 SE to Windows XP Home Edition SP2.

I never had any problem with windows 98 but ever since i upgraded, when i right click on the desktop the computer will freeze. I will wait 20-30 seconds then the taskbar and desktop icons will disappear and then reappear and i can use the computer as normal.

The same problem also occurs when clicking the "File" button in an explorer window (e.g. My Documents)

Instead of waiting 20-30 seconds i can end drwtsn32.exe from the process list and then everything will disappear and reappear.

I will be greatful for any help.

Thanks in advanced.

EDIT: If its any help, the problem still occurs when running in safe mode.

So for a bit now perhaps a week my computer has been acting weird I haven't made any big changes or at all I think lately and don't know what's causing it So what happends I'll be / freeze click files or computer crash right to Browser open / Unable doing stuff on my browser Chrome but I also tried Firefox and the problem persisted and sometimes when I do something open a new tab Browser crash / Unable to right click or open files / computer freeze drag out a new tab click settings start typing the browser crashes Sometimes I can tell the problem is happening before the browser crashes because my right click won't work on my desktop and I'm unable to open files It has happened that I wait for a bit and then everything seems to work normally again but almost every time it happens I have to reboot my computer Sometimes when the problem happends and I reopon chrome it crashes again instantly Sometimes it stays up until I press Browser crash / Unable to right click or open files / computer freeze something Browser crash / Unable to right click or open files / computer freeze or start typing It used to crash much more frequently but I did a restore keep files and thought it was fixed Obviously it turned out to not be fixed but it's much much less frequent now

These are the errors I found. They're in swedish so I'll have to translate some, so if it doesn't look exactly like it would in English that's why.

Hey guys here is what im working with to let you know right from the start :
MOBO = ABIT IP35
CPU = Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775
RAM = G.SKILL 4GB(2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400)
Video Card = 8800GTS
PSU = 600W Ultra X-Finity

Well I hooked everything up wired correctly and what not i go to push the power button on case and nothing happens at all, no fans start nothing. Led light on mobo is lit , i thought is was PSU i swapped a working 680W in and same thing happens. Question is, is the cpu doa, or is the power button wire faulty on the case? I tested everything else on friends computer except cpu, he has same set up as me and his computer boots up.

A:Bad Processor or Case wiring

to test if it is the case ... use a screw driver but be very careful an touch the two pins on the mobo that the power switch is to be connected to ... make sure an confirm that u are usin the power on pins.... an remember be very careful this will simulate the power switch of the case

A:need help picking out motherboard and/or processor for my df-85 case

It sounds like the mobo that you have is a micro ATX board, so yes you can upgrade to a full ATX mobo and fit it within that case.

Unless you plan to do 3 or more high end video cards, you really won't need a 1000W PSU. Just buy a high quality 750W-850W unit and that will easily handle your 2 cards as well as the hard drives that you mentioned.

As far as CPU's go, Intel is what I recommend to everybody. AMD is simply playing catchup. I'd recommend a core i5 as the sweet spot and has been for some time. The K versions of the chips can be overclocked as they are unlocked. A Core i7 is a stronger CPU than the i5, but could just be considered overkill in most tasks.

I have a Dell Optiplex GX270. When I press the power button, the power button light turns amber, I hear some fans spinning, and the CD drive spinning. However, it never gets to the boot screen (or any screen). If I open the case and press the power button, however, the power button turns green and the computer works fine (loads all the way up and functions like normal). If I close the case after it has started, it continues to run fine. I'm guessing / hoping it's not the mother board or power supply that has directly gone bad... but maybe there is a connection or something? that changes from when it's closed to when it's open. I've heard of something like... the motherboard is shorting out by touching the case... but I'm not really sure where to look for that / how. Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!

Hello,

I just recently transfered my whole computer into a new case, after hooking everything up (including two new led fans), the computer ran for about 5-10 minutes and then froze with no apps running. I rechecked my connections and they were in the right spot but it did it again. I'm thinking that the 350w PSU I have just isn't cutting it, but I can't be sure. If anyone could help I'd really appreciate it.

A:new case transfer/comp freeze up

350 watts is too weak for today's systems, however, this would cause other errors such as random shutdowns, spontaneous reboots, and frequent blue screens of death, not system freezes.

first thing you should do is remove your RAM chips and blow out any dust from the RAM slots using compressed air, then carefully reseat the RAM chips, see if this fixes it.

when you transferred your system, did you clean your components?

hi all ,

i have a desktop

i changed my broken case to a new case like

i removed the HDD and the motherboard and the CD-rom ..etc and installed them to a new case

but when i press the switch button it works normally , and the screen display normally and there are no beeps , but after like 20 second my computer turns off automatically ! ,

what may cause this issue ?

A:i replaced all of my computer components from my broken case to other case

could be overheating CPU. Did you apply fresh Thermal paste to the HSF after reinstalling the motherboard? Is it tight and secure? Did you blow out all the dirt, dust and debris from the fans' fins?

This problem is not malware-related. I have AVG and have barely used internet on it.

This computer was my grandmothers and she only used it for writing, a few games and minimal internet browsing. I have, well inherited it now and began updating. it is maybe 6 or 7 years old. Now, some time ago i added 1gb ram and this improved performance somewhat, but for example when i scroll in firefox it lags. During startup the CPU is working at 100%, which it never does on the other computer. Just having firefox active without doing anything in particular takes 40%. For hardware specifics see my signature, computer 2. This problem started after i finished upgrading to SP3 and installed AVG. Can i be 100% that this is related to a weak CPU?

My internet really doesn't perform all that well.

The performance is so weak that if I upload a video on Youtube, I can't surf the net while it's uploading because seems like the machine can only focus all of it's energy on 1 thing at a time.

Obviously, this is really an annoying issue that needs to be fixed. Is my computer missing Ram or something, or should I up my internet speed. I am currently using Internet ADSL high speed 10 from Electronic Box.

While I long for the day when I no longer experience the effects of buggy software there s something rewarding about solving my own troubleshooting cases In the process I often come up with new techniques to add to my bag Crash IE Case Random the of The of tricks and to share The Case of the Random IE Crash with you in my Case of the Unexplained presentations and blog posts The other day I successfully closed an especially interesting case that opened when Internet Explorer IE crashed as I was reading a web page Whenever I experience a crash whether it s the system or an application I always take a look at it There s no guarantee but many times after spending just a few minutes I find clues that point at an add-on as the cause and ultimately a fix or workaround In most cases when it s an application crash the faulty process is obvious and I simply launch Windbg from the free Debugging Tools for Windows package that comes with the Windows SDK and Windows DDK attach it to the process and start investigating More

I keep getting this ALOT lately and it restores the browsing tabs. I believe it is Flash related since everytime it happens to me Flash related content is present on the page I am viewing, as a matter of fact 100% of the time Flash content is present.

My HP Pavilion dv7-6113cl will not turn on unless it is plugged into the wall.  The battery is attached to the computer correctly.  My computer tells me that it is charging while it is plugged into the wall.  It tells me that it is at 82% capacity right now.  However, when I take the plug out of the wall or attempt to turn on the computer when it is not plugged in, my computer turns off or will not turn on at all.  I ran the battery diagnostic and it told me that the battery was functioning correctly but that the battery was weak.   It was working correctly a couple of weeks ago.  Could you please let me know why this may be happening?  Thank you.

I know Windows has all sorts of automated bells and whistles that do something interesting but not necessarily beneficial.
What are some of the things you can do to it to max out the performance, such that frees up resources like CPU, MEM, HD, etc.

My Dell Dimension 8400 Windows XP (512MB RAM) has been making a low humming noise non-stop for about 3 days now. I just went through the malware/virus removal processes and the system is working relatively efficient but this humming noise is rather irritating. Sounds like the system is just struggling.

Any thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

My Windows 7 is getting freezed and also, giving blue screen memory dump errors sometimes, whenever I use M-audio Oxygen 61 with FL studio and sometimes, even during the run of FL studio 10 or Cubase... mine is 32 bit and with 4 GB... The processor is Intel and I use Yamaha external audio interface...Do you think it is the problem with the processor.. Also it happens when I browse..it happens intermittently..What is the reason?

A:Windows 7 - 32 bit, Intel Processor, with FL studio freeze problem

Hello shanvimal.

We do need the DMP file as it contains the only record of the sequence of events leading up to the crash, what drivers were loaded, and what was responsible.

If you are overclocking STOP.

You may be able to get the DMP files without crashing by booting into safe mode (F8) with networking.

To enable us to assist you with your computer's BSOD symptoms, upload the contents of your "\Windows\Minidump" folder.

The procedure:

Quote:
* Copy the contents of \Windows\Minidump to another (temporary) location somewhere on your machine.
* Zip up the copy.
* Attach the ZIP archive to your post using the "paperclip" (file attachments) button.
*If the files are too large please upload them to a file sharing service like "Rapidshare" and put a link to them in your reply.

To ensure minidumps are enabled:

Quote:
* Go to Start, in the Search Box type: sysdm.cpl, press Enter.
* Under the Advanced tab, click on the Startup and Recovery Settings... button.
* Ensure that Automatically restart is unchecked.
* Under the Write Debugging Information header select Small memory dump (256 kB) in the dropdown box (the 256kb varies).
* Ensure that the Small Dump Directory is listed as %systemroot%\Minidump.
* OK your way out.
* Reboot if changes have been made.

Connections? What happens if you slightly wiggle the video card or RAM while the computer is on?

I had problems with my Slot 1 P2 : it was the processor, RAM AND every cards... (Cheap mobos suck, but your MSI should be OK) Oh, and I was almost forgetting, the ATX connector too...

Event ID 11 is a HD controller error. First step is to run chkdsk and if you dont have your data backed up now would be a good time

A- CHKDSK /R /F:

Run CHKDSK /R /F from an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt.

Do this for each hard drive on your system.

When it tells you it can't do it right now - and asks you if you'd like to do it at the next reboot - answer Y (for Yes) and press Enter.

Then reboot and let the test run.

It may take a while for it to run, but keep an occasional eye on it to see if it generates any errors.

See "CHKDSK LogFile" below in order to check the results of the test.
B- Elevated Command Prompt:

Go to Start and type in "cmd.exe" (without the quotes)

At the top of the Search Box, right click on Cmd.exe and select "Run as administrator"
C-CHKDSK LogFile:

Go to Start and type in "eventvwr.msc" (without the quotes) and press Enter

Expand the Windows logs heading, then select the Application log file entry.

Double click on the Source column header.

Scroll down the list until you find the Chkdsk entry (wininit for Win7) (winlogon for XP).

Copy/paste the results into your next post.

So I upgraded my motherboard and processor as well as my video card.
Here is all the new stuff i put in:
Intel DP35DPM Socket 775 Motherboard
Intel Core2 Duo E4500 2.2Ghz Socket 775 CPU
Corsair TWINX 2048MB PC6400 DDR2 800MHz E.P.P.
NVIDIA GeForce 8600GT 512MB PCI-E x16 Video Card w/DVI/TV

So I load windows and it crashes right when XP loads up. (Right after the scroll bar screen)
I can safely boot in safe mode, I did that and installed the drivers.
I'm not that computer savvy so I could use a little help, my friend recommends reinstalling XP but I don't have a cd and would prefer not too.

I believe the error message is 0x0000004F.

I can double check and get back, but please let me know what I should do.

A:New Board + Processor cause XP to crash while loading

If you didn't re-install windows fresh after you got the new parts, that is the cause of your error message.

If you have windows installed on a hard-drive already and you change out computer parts such as motherboard, you will need to perform windows repair in order to get the computer running. If you don't have any important data on the hard-drive then I recommend you do a full format of your hard-drive and install windows fresh since you got new parts.

Overall, you will need to perform windows repair to get the computer going again.

Everytime I run a processor intensive application (Video Compression, Running Market Simulations, etc.) After five to ten minutes my machine crashes.

If I run the same applications with shorter jobs it completes and the machine doesn't crash.

This is a hard crash where everything just blanks out.

I haven't made any hardware changes to the system and this issue is a new issue.

I ran all my avg anti-virus, ad-aware, and advanced system care and everything is running fine.

I am stumped.

DEP can cause crashes. It normally should be on for max protections, but some apps may need exceptions. if you look in event viewr (type eventvwr in search) a DEP crash will say event ID 1000 source 100 and give the app data.

Take a look let us know what you see and tell us what hardware you have

My PC freezes, restarts, crashes, hangs and sometimes BSOD. Based on my observation, it happens quite randomly. I can play games but sometimes it just freezes. When it freezes sometimes it produces a loud weird static sound.Sometimes it just freezes a few minutes after startup. And it also froze in BIOS while I was checking what's wrong. What could be the cause of this? PSU maybe?

i memtested all 3 of my RAMs and theyre all good at 4 passes.

specs:
ECS mobo
450w psu
gtx 560
4gbram

These crashes have several causes that all relate to hardware. Use these to find out what that means and how to try and fix it. http://www.sevenforums.com/crash-loc...-what-try.html

The freezes doesn't just happen sometimes when I'm playing games it occurs even when I'm just browsing the internet, chatting, even it froze at the log in screen when windows start up.

Currently I'm using Windows Professional x64 bit. This problem also occurred on my last windows 7, which was Windows 7 Ultimate x64 bit. Both on the same computer. I'll post up my specs in a bit. Thanks :]

My Dell Dimension I know it's old but not much I can do about it has been crashing more and more regularly and no matter what I try Crash, freeze, BSOD I Crash, freeze, BSOD can't get a bead on what the problem is The crashes are becoming more frequent and recently it's begun freezing at random forcing me to manually restart it I've run every scan I can think of Malware Bytes Super Anti-spyware RegCure Pro CCleaner I'm limited on the information I've gleaned from each crash as the blue screen doesn't often tell me much of anything and half the times doesn't stay up long enough to really study it One of the few times I managed to get my phone out fast enough to take a picture it mentioned some kind of issue with the file fwpklcnt sys I believe that's the correct spelling it's hard to tell as I took the picture so fast it's kind of blurry Checking that brought me to an old thread on this board where someone offered talked about debugging the minidump files Every time I try to install Windows' debugging program the computer ends up crashing before it finishes so I never make any headway so I was wondering how do I figure out what's going on

As to RegCure Pro and CCleaner, I do not recommend 3rd party optimization software, especially if it includes registry cleaning. Such software can lead to Windows being unable to boot, damaged restore points, a damaged file system, damaged Windows files, damaged program files, corrupted registry and program installations, and eventually leads to the need to clean install Windows to fix the damage caused by the 3rd party "optimization" algorithms. I would recommend that you remove the software and avoi... Read more

I recently installed a new motherboard everything went fine it was the same as the old one but i used the old one to build a spare pc that only needed a mobo and used Freeze/Crash Inexplicable the new one in my pc However windows now randomly as far as i can Inexplicable Freeze/Crash tell for the most part crashes By crash i mean the entire computer freezes the light on my keyboard and mouse go off for a second and i cant do anything without doing a hard reboot This happens even if my computer idles from boot till crash The crash happens within about to minutes only once has it happened much sooner Inexplicable Freeze/Crash I have noticed that i can make the computer do one of these freezes almost immediately if i restore a game from a backup with steam This only makes the problem happen sooner but it Inexplicable Freeze/Crash isn't the cause of it as it happens even without steam running or any other programs that i have start up I have updated all drivers on the computer and even updated the bios since this started happening but there was no change Tomorrow I intend to run a linux live CD and leave that on for awhile to see if it crashes as well The fact that steam restores cause it to crash started to make me think it was the hard drive however i was able to execute the restore perfectly fine under safemode with networking I am currently running on safemode for awhile to see if it happens still Nothing else has changed on my system so I am not sure why the software would start acting up after replacing the motherboard with the same model Does anyone have any ideas on ways to test what is causing this in a way that i have something to fix or any ideas on what could be the problem hdd memory While i would obviously like to avoid reformatting and re-installing windows it is not a massive problem for me but i would love to avoid that I have built many computers and generally can converse rather well on the topic of software and hardware so feel free to ask any questions if you need more information or anything I greatly appreciate your help in advance

Hi, so today I unplugged my computer while it was still running by accident. Now it wont start at all, no lights, no fans, nothing. I am concerned that it may be a problem with my power supply (maybe fried it or something). And no its not a problem with the cord (I tried a different one), its not a problem with the power switch (the one that you switch to either circle or line) because I tried it both ways. However recently my computers power button stopped working so my brother hooked up an old keyboard to my computer so to start it I will press a key on that keyboard and it will start up my computer, so I have to keyboards one to start the computer up and one to type. So in summary im not really sure what the problem is but im 90% sure it has something to do with either my "power keyboard" of my Power Supply so yeah. Any help will be apreciated

I am having this issue and have been searching online for days with no solution, so hoping someone here can help..
I have a dell laptop that suddenly started getting this message about network cable is unplugged, when it in fact isn't.. I cannot run ipconfig, i get an error that says it's not allowed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the drivers. The light on the network port is on, and I've tried several known working cables with no luck. I even went so far as to buy a dlink ethernet adapter that plugs into the laptop slot (pcm I think it's called) and this network card has the same issue, however works perfectly in another machine. I have tried winsock repairs I found online, but having no luck anywhere.
Any suggestions? Any further questions? Thanks!

John

A:Network cable unplugged error, but it's not unplugged

If it is not unplugged, you have a damaged socket, damaged cable, or damaged or defective ethernet card.
What error flags to you have in the Device Manager?
What is your Dell model and how old is it?
Using a strong light and a magnifying glass, look for bent or twisted wire in the ethernet socket., or just plain ol dirt, dust, hair, and fiber.
Still, a bad cable is most user's most likely problem. Do't forget that the other end of the connection can give you the same error message.

Hi,
Recently started experiencing BSOD's on my Dell Studio XPS w/Win Pro 7/64 bit, 12gb RAM. I used to have a problem w/the PC freezing & only way to fix was to turn it off w/power button to reset. No useful dump files were generated. I reinstalled my OS which helped for a while but then the PC started freezing again and now I'm experiencing true BSODs that display a message re creating a dump file. I've attached the output from the SF Diag. tool. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

EDIT;Sorry all, I noticed after posting that the diagnostic tool had not finished when I thought it did, I'm uploading the updated .zip file, thanks.

The goal is to test all the RAM sticks and all the motherboard slots.

Check your motherboard manual to ensure the RAM sticks are in the recommended motherboard slots. Some motherboards have very specific slots required for the number of RAM sticks installed.

If you get errors, stop the test and continue with the next step.

1. Remove all but one stick of RAM from your computer (this will be RAM stick #1), and run Memtest86 again, for 7 passes.*Be sure to note the RAM stick, use a piece of tape with a number, and note the motherboard slot.
If this stick passes the test then go to step #3.

2. If RAM stick #1 has errors, repeat the test with RAM stick #2 in the same motherboard slot.*If RAM stick #2 passes, this indicates that RAM stick #1 may be bad. If you want to be absolutely sure, re-test RAM stick #1 in another known good slot.

A:Windows 7 crash/freeze during login

If you are able to start the system in Safe Mode, then, it seems to me you have a problem with Auto Run at Start Up of some software you have installed on your machine.
You can try to disable in Safe Mode everything that starts automatically (I mean the software which you installed, not the system elements . Do not forget to clean the registry as well.

Hope my answer was of any help.

There was only the one minidump collected. Where have all the earlier ones got to?Let's collect some more information: I'll have a look at it and help you try to resolve the problem. Please follow the instructions: BSOD Posting Instructions: Windows 7 - Vista(Note: When you run BSOD_Windows7_Vista_v2.64_jcgriff2_.exe, it will also run autoruns.exe ... and both need to be in the same location!)... with one exception in the following line:"4. Zip up the entire output folder + PERFMON and attach the zip file to your next post."The BC forums will allow a total attachment size of only 512 kb (and what you need to attach will exceed this limit). Please upload the zip file to a file sharing website of your choice and and post a link to it in this thread so that we can access your uploaded zip file. Hi I have been using my SN G for about months now and i havent had many issues with it After the various bios update i assumed the heat issues would be fixed When playing games Counter strike source at the moments full settings the fan seems to start spinning at full speed I expect this to be normal but on the slight occasion XP after crash/freeze boot wont my computer would freeze I put this down to the computer over heating and its a fail safe to stop the hardware from getting damaged Am i right with this assumption because a press of the reset button and the computer reboots fine I XP wont boot after crash/freeze haven't really researched this to see XP wont boot after crash/freeze if anyone else is having the same problem As this is quite frustrating as sometimes i am doing well then the computer freezes To combat this i downloaded speedfan to try and see if that would help control the fan better than the bios This didnt seem to to take control of the fan or maybe i just didnt realise as i wasnt really pushing the system I then downloaded SISoftware Sandra to try and benchmark my system and see if there were and memory issues that caused the cpu to work extra harder than it needed to Midway through the bench scan of my system it froze and i couldn't do anything The fan was running low so i assumed it wasnt over heating I decided to reset the system when it happened Upon reboot the system couldnt load windows xp only operating system My XP cd seems to have eluded me so i have tried various boot disks so that i can try and fix the MBR but these have been unsuccessful I have used the xp setup boot disks to try and use the recovery console but it doesnt show any operating system just the c prompt I have tried fdisk on DOS but that shows no partition information I have also tried ntfsreader to try and read data from the drive but this shows no data I really hope that my drive has not been wiped and if so how would this have happened I have a SATA hard drive installed on the system I am thinking that maybe the system cant recognise the drive properly because it needs the driver file again Am i right in thinking this Would i need to load the SATA drivers again or wouldn't that matter as i loaded it already when i first installed windows I know this is a long post but please can someone help as i am out of ideas I hope someone can come up with something before i get another copy of windows xp pro free from my Uni I have loads of data that i really want to keep Please help

A:Games freeze/crash after 10 mins or less

Sounds like u have some type of clocking issue or temp problem...

First use CPUz, check out all setings,
then use HW monitor, to check CPU temp, and MOBO temps, and voltages.
3.) use GPUz to check out your video card settings...
4.) run a MEM test in dos, to see if u have any falty ram...
5.) check all bios settings... something could be configured wrong.

well, thats all i'v got... hope this helps

A:Various Browser Windows Crash / Freeze

Nevermind - I've gotten it taken care of. Don't think anyone was planning on responding anyway

In case anyone's wondering it was actually a problem with my mouse driver. Reinstalled that and everything is good to go. Evidently it wasn't anything to do with Java, but whenever I opened a window that didn't have keyboard prompts it was stuck open.

Hi everyone,

#1:
I am having trouble when I am trying to upload/download to any specific place.

The screen will freeze when I try to browse to a specific folder to either choose a file to upload or a place to download a file.

"Internet explorer has stopped working"

This will freeze IE.

#2:
One of the USB slots on my computer will crash my computer when I try to plug a device into it...shut the whole computer off automatically.

I am on HP Dv2700 running Vista...

I appreciate any help!
Any Ideas?

A:Upload-Browsing Crash/Freeze

Lets deal with problem #2 first.

The crash is repeatable no matter what device you plug in? Even when the other USB slots are empty?

Hi anyone,

I have got a problem with my Portege A200 for a crash on HDD for freeze. Also I have been to toshiba recovery product on it and too replace a new hard drive then it is still freeze when I turn on and run. Therefore it is always random of freeze for fresh new window XP and also sentive on network when plug network then it is freeze or crash itself.

Any idea to troubleshoot it?

Thanks
Jonathan

A:Portege A200 - Freeze or crash itself

Hi Jonathan,

If this still happens after using Toshiba recovery disk, it seems to be a hardware malfunction or something else because the recovery disk can restore factory settings.

Maybe your notebook is overheating so you clean it with compressed air spray. This could blow out the dust from the cooling ventilators. Furthermore it?s not necessary to disassemble the notebook.
Check this!!!

Hello all! This is my 1st post in the forums but it comes under bad circumstances.

Ever since I installed Sims 3(and since removed) for my daughter on my PC it has been crashing a lot. Sometimes I'll go to the CPU and that little box saying "windows is recovering from an unexpected shutdown"

Other times I'll be playing a game that I never had problems with before and the screen will turn black with lots of colour lines in it plus a buzzing sound. Then the cpu crashes.

I have checked all my drivers and I believe they are all up to date. I'm tapped out of knowledge at this point and I am not sure where to look next.

Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Random freeze/crash/BSOD's Please Help

Welcome to Seven Forums.

This crash doesn't have specific causes listed.

The dump file show a bug check value 0X3b, this is usually a graphic's driver, other possibilities are antivirus/antispyware/security programs, RAM, Hard drive, loose cables.

Let's start with installing a new ATI Graphics driver
1. First un-install the old driver, Download and install Driver Sweeper from:
Guru3D - Driver Sweeper
2. Uninstall 'ATI Catalyst Install Manager' from Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features
Go to Control Panel, View by: Small or Large icons in Device manager. In Device manager select Display Adapters.

3. In Display Adapters right-click on your device and select uninstall. Tick the box that says 'Delete the driver software for this device'

4. Re-Boot into Safe Mode and run Driver Sweeper, to ensure complete removal of items, Run Driver Sweeper as administrator. Right-click Driver Sweeper > properties > Compatibility tab tick 'Run this program as Administrator'.

5. In Driver Sweeper select the ATI- Display only and then Analyse:

6. Now select Clean to remove all ATI software:

7. Re-boot normally and install the newest ATI official drivers.

Then stress test your graphics card, Video Card - Stress Test with Furmark
Your temps shouldn't go over 90?C.

If you still get crashes, re-install the graphics drivers without Catalyst Control Center.

Hi my story starts off with me upgrading my graphics card and I bought an HD At the time I put it in hoping my generic W PSU would work and hey presto it didn t the screen froze on doing anything graphically intensive I accepted the fact that I would put it in my next PC which wasn t going to be a slim one so I would not be restricted hardware-wise so I stored it in an antistatic bag in my drawer After a few months I went about building Startup Freeze/Crash HD4670 my own average rig just for multimedia purposes and probably some gaming too but nothing too extravagant Since I had an extremely low budget I stuck with my old motherboard HD4670 Startup Freeze/Crash which restricted my best CPU to be the Pentium D Ghz which is what I have now GB DDR RAM the last GB is coming in the post tomorrow my HD and a new PSU The PSU I bought was an X-Power rated at W with A on the V rail but the catch was that it has rails which is worse from what I ve read When I booted up my pc with the HD and the PSU the same thing happened a few months ago except it was HD4670 Startup Freeze/Crash even worse instead of freezing when HD4670 Startup Freeze/Crash I opened a program it would do it on startup I put this down to the fact that the PSU was multirailed and that previously I had a Pentium D Ghz I think I then got another NEW psu rated at W It s an Alpine Silent Power Supply Single Railed with A on the V Surely this would power an HD right considering I have seen others run it with much lower tiered PSU s Well it still freezes at startup which really annoyed me and it also begs the question is it still a PSU problem I ve tried reinstalling deleting drivers for the HD but it still freezes on startup It doesn t freeze when I boot in safe-mode or with a diagnostic startup The Battlefield Beta has started and I really wanna try it out but I m armed with nothing but a measly that s been overclocked to hell and back any help is much appreciated nbsp

A:HD4670 Startup Freeze/Crash

My guess is that the video card is defective or not compatible with your motherboard. You may have to get either a new video card or a new motherboard.

Also, for god's stop buying low quality power supplies. Both the X-power and Alpine brands are bottom of the barrel manufacturer's that make really poor quality units.

Hello This is my first post here but i ve known about this great site for a while it has saved my hide many times Unfortunately for my newest problem I can t seem to find an exact solution in other threads I ll cut right to the chase A while ago one morning i started my computer as usual only to find it can t boot because of an error with sound loop, crash Freeze, hal dll I reinstalled my windows and after this incident whenever I enter a game my PC freezes sound loops and after a while I get a Freeze, sound loop, crash bsod and it restarts I can only play world of warcraft at the minimum settings and in windowed mode and even like this i still get some crashes from time to time If I try to enter other games I get a crash right after the loading screen so I can t even adjust video settings Lately it has gotten worse sometimes when I try to start my PC it will run for a few seconds then restart I read that this might be because of the PSU or the video card but I need to know which one i have to replace because i m on a tight budget Now I will admit that I have poked around my PC after this problem removed the PSU cleaned the dust from everywhere but as far as I know I connected everything as it was System specs PC is about years old first time I have problems with it System Manufacturer INTEL System Model DP SG BIOS BIOS Date Ver Processor Intel R Core TM Duo CPU E GHz CPUs GHz Memory MB RAM Corsair Available OS Memory MB RAM Page File MB used MB available Windows Dir C Windows DirectX Version DirectX Display Devices --------------- Card name NVIDIA GeForce GT Manufacturer NVIDIA Chip type GeForce GT DAC type Integrated RAMDAC Device Key Enum PCI VEN DE amp DEV amp SUBSYS B amp REV A Display Memory MB Dedicated Memory MB Shared Memory MB All of my drivers are updated nbsp

Ok we have had the computer in question for about or four years now however starting approximately a year ago it started to do this weird thing where randomly the entire computer will completely freeze if there is any sound playing at the time of the freeze the sound loops repetitively and this will continue until the computer is reset I tried to see if there was any specific cause for it doing this but i can only say that it happens more often during more intense programs Eg I-Tunes video games more demanding browsers freeze\crash please help Weird intermittent like Chrome and Opera but it will crash on occasion while doing nothing or running less intense programs like Internet explorer or paint I have done numerous checks for viruses adware malware and nothing Weird intermittent freeze\crash please help comes up that ultimately fixes the problem when it is removed I have done several scans for registry errors and still nothing fixes the problem at one point i even used the windows boot disc to delete the registry and restore it back to default which as you can guess did not fix the problem and mainly just left me with a huge headache I have reset the Bios and that doesn t work i found something relatively similar to the problem i was having which would suggest that my RAM Weird intermittent freeze\crash please help is bad so i ran memtest but after passes it came up with nothing I used the vacuum cleaner to clean out the whole case and still no results On occasion however very rarely a blue screen of death will pop up and reset the computer and usually when that happens the motherboard gets all angry beeby but i don t know the exact beeb code because that hasn t happened to me in a while Any help would be much appreciated Weird intermittent freeze\crash please help By the way my system specs are Dell E Xp Media Center edition SP Video card at Radeon X GB RAM CPU intel Core Ghz if i left anything out just ask nbsp

A:Solved: Screen Freeze and Crash

No Preaching about laptops being so Prescious. Just a reminder that with the exception of a few, Laptops are not designed as Gaming Machines, and that they run at a higher temp normally than most Desktops. When you start gaming you start running into higher temps that can damage and kill things like the Video Adapter, the Motherboard and the CPU.

Using Compressed air to blow the dust out of the vent slots can help lower temperatures.

I frequently leave my laptop running over night while it is plugged in and it does not suffer. If the system were overheating though it probably would have caused problems.

My windows xp system freezes randomly while running Eveonline. My primary problem is that the computer makes no logs for me to find the cause. The computer never BSODs or recovers and i have to manually power it off, there are no errors in any section of event viewer and no logs in the minidump folder. Can you suggest anything i can use to get some kind of report on what is causing the freezing or steps i can take to investigate it.

Any help you can offer would be most appreciated.

Hi Any search on the internet or this forum didn't give any clear solutions so I'll post folder / freeze Document crash my problem here I'm using a Dell Dimension XP SP Media Center Edition Pentium D CPU Ghz GB RAM GB harddrive When I open the quot My documents quot folder through the start menu the folder comes up but it freezes after sec Here comes the weird thing When I instead choose to access the very same folder but this time through quot My computer quot gt quot Documents Niklas quot lt - that'll be my name it doesn't freeze I was like quot Oh well I can live with it since I can access the folder other ways quot But when I changed the icon view setting it was quot right Document folder crash / freeze click quot gt quot View quot gt quot Icons quot to quot Thumbnails quot instead it crashed just like the other folder I therefore accessed the quot My documents quot folder and changed the icon view from quot Thumbnails quot to quot Icons quot in less than sec before it would freeze But after I successfulled changed the icon view it didn't freeze anymore if I changed it back to quot Thumbnails quot it crashed like usual So I would say it's a clear connection Document folder crash / freeze with the icon view and the problem This has happened before though one time When I was uploading some videos from my camera in to a folder the folder froze in just the same way everytime I tried to access it I had to delete the videos through the document search engine to fix the problem But now I have no idea what Document folder crash / freeze causes the problem I add and delete files frequently from the quot My documents quot folder and I haven't done anything unusual with the folder during the time before the problem occured Any suggestions how I can fix it Thanks in advance Best regards Niklas Note I'm a computer novice so don't be too harsh

A:Document folder crash / freeze

There is a corrupt thumbnail in the folder causing the problem. See if you can find a hidden file called thumbs.db in the folder and delete it. Windows will recreate it and hopefully it will not be corrupt and it will solve your problem.
