Temporary freezing when playing video games, any ideas?

Q: Temporary freezing when playing video games, any ideas?

Recently I am noticing that I get temporary freezing when playing video games such as Left4Dead 2 and MW2. This freezing only happens about every 20-30 min and I can easily fix it by ctrl+alt+del then going back into the game. I checked the temp of my GPU and its only at 36 C. Cpu is low as well. What could be causing this? All my specs of my computer are listed under my system. Thanks in advance for your help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello Ryan, i recently discovered the same problem, but i found out that its dx problem, that is it windows 7, i looked up on microsoft website and downloaded directx 11 installed it and it was fixed. i dont know what it could be for you but i think try that first.
Oh i had forgotten, there is a missing file in win7 dx, call d3d_xx70.dll i can't remember it well thats why i used xx.

Cheers

What is your agp Accelerated Graphics Port set to? If it is set higher than the game you are playing it could cause this. Say it is runing at x8 you could try changing the AGP speed in BIOS to x4 (save settings before exiting BIOS)

So the backstory I played Days to Die last weekend and had an odd freeze where everything locked up and the monitor suddenly looked like this http i imgur com C c BGS jpg I figured maybe it was an issue of graphics video playing while freezing and BSOD games card drivers needing to be updated so the next day I went ahead and updated my drivers Later that day Days to Die crashed again the same way Then later World of Warcraft did At that point I figured something must be pretty wrong as I'd been playing WoW on and off for weeks and never had any problems I tried dusting out the case worrying that it was a heat issue Eventually during one of the restarts freezes I got to the point where the tower would boot up but the monitor stayed in Power Saver mode After flashing the BIOS and removing the graphics card I was able to get back into Windows I figured maybe my graphics card was on its way out but it couldn't hurt to format the SSD I keep Windows on and start clean before I put a new card in So I did that but held off on putting the card in right away as it took forever to get all the Windows Updates handled and eventually I ended up installing Windows as there were so many problems with Windows Fast forward to now where I still haven't installed a new graphics card as when I tried to test my system out by running some games Rocket League which completely freezes up on the title screen BSOD and freezing while playing video games Beseige which plays fine but within - minutes causes a BSOD of System Service Exception it didn't end well So now I'm here hoping someone can help get my system back to gaming like it was built for instead of this shallow empty existence So far the steps I've taken are Dusted out the case components Removed the suspected issue dead or dying graphics card Formatted the SSD to get a clean Windows install Ran passes of MemTest with errors DESKTOP-E DMEOE-Fri zip

Hi. Thank you for your time and expertise
For a while now I've had mostly BSOD 0x00000124 appearing on my screen when watching online videos(except YouTube) or whenever I played PC games on maximum video settings.
I decided to re-install Windows, assuming that software is the problem. Though after that not only did the BSOD stay, but also my computer started freezing randomly(on start-up, while installing updates, browsing the internet).
Also I installed Zorin OS 6. After a few minutes of browsing the internet(using Chrome) it also froze.
I tried running MemTest86+(using a CD) but after about 10 min. the computer screen shuts down on its own.
What should I do?

It doesn't happen often but sometimes it freezes for a second while loading a certain game which works fine on another day and gives BSOD. Sometimes it happens after I've loaded the game and am in the moment of playing. My hardware is more than enough for the games I run and I even run them on low-mid even though I can manage high settings. The games I usually run are CS:GO, League of Legends and Modern Warfare 3 [rarely play; received 1 BSOD while loading it]

I've uploaded my dump files.

Thank you.

So I recently opened my CPU because it was lagging and I thought maybe a little clean up might do the trick. So I softly brushed the drivers inside the CPU to get some dust off. However, when I turned on my PC, it seems that whenever I watch videos or play games, a loud crackling sound comes out from my speakers. I don't know what is causing this.

I have tried disabling my drivers (sound and display) but to no avail. However, if I mute the volume on my sound driver, the sound disappears. Which lead me to the conclusion that it might be a conflict of sound and display.

Since the problem only occured when I opened my CPU and cleaned it, it might also be a wiring problem or something.

Can someone help me on this?

I posted earlier about my pc freezing while playing AOC, and no replies really fixed the problem. this is what it was doing. it would randomly freeze during game play and repeat the last sound made basically a clicking noise. Well I finally found something that i think might have fixed it. i simply muted the sound. And it hasnt froze since. So now can anyone tell me from that what the problem is, so i can turn the sound back on..also this has been a problem since i bought the computer, and also took it back and got a new one that did the excact same thing. so i figured it couldnt posibly be a hardware problem. my other post has the specs for the comp.....THX for any help

Hello, im having problem with system freezes while playing games. (League of legends atm).

No BSOD appears, the system just freezes, sometimes with sound repeating. This happens at least once a day.

Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 x64
Intel Core2 Extreme Q6850 @ 3.00 GHz
Nvidia GeForce GTX 580
6 GB RAM

A:Freezing while playing games.

perfmon shows your nForce networking controller as being disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?

FYI - you had at least 2 BSOD's (the memory dumps were uploaded with the reports that you submitted). They occurred on 29 and 30 July. It appears that the one from 30 July was a Driver Verifier enabled bug check - what settings did you use for Driver Verifier?

Both memory dumps are Driver Verifier enabled. Please turn off Driver Verifier (it's supposed to cause BSOD's) by selecting "Delete existing settings" in the program, clicking on Finish, and rebooting the system.

Although the networking device is disabled, the drivers are loaded and are from 2008. I'd suggest enabling the device and updating the drivers. Looking at the systeminfo results, it may be that there are 2 nForce networking devices on the mobo - and only one is disabled.

Send-loop.exe (email Marketing software) is causing errors. Not much else is evident. Have you checked for video card overheating?

Maybe there is an issue with your power supply.

Run this

While running this

Let them go for 1 hour and see what you get. It will render your PC pretty much useless so set it and step back and watch.

Hello I am new to the forums here and I m not very tech savvy so please bear with me I encountered a problem about a week ago The problem was that my computer kept freezing whenever I played any kind of game such as WoT When I opened up the application games keeps freezing when playing Computer in around the first seconds my computer would freeze prior to opening the game application What the screen would look like is a very pshychodelic screen of a little distorted colors of red and blue along with the colors of the screen Computer keeps freezing when playing games During that freeze my mouse wouldn t move as well as ctrl-alt-dlt so I would have to turn it off by holding on to the start button I turn on my computer again and there would be a bunch of small green vertical dots in the loading screen like something from the matrix but not that many dots I hit f to start my computer has a lot of problems and I go to the screen where it asks me if I would like to go to safe mode or normal mode On that screen the screen is more of a checkered red and black with different random patterns I go to normal mode and enter the loading screen where my windows moving icon starts up On that screen there are a bunch of vertical green lines on the screen The computer however does not load up in that stage and either freezes in a black screen slumber or just restarts Now this would happen to my computer now It was quite different a month ago I think around a month or ago my computer was doing fine and handled games quite well But one day while I was playing my game the computer screen froze and had this psychodelic colors and weird sounds on the screen I did a hard reset and instead of all the weird colors on the boot up screen it worked fined and I just continued my game However I noticed that this problem was reaccurring and grew worse as the days went on Now I m in a situtation where I cant even turn on my computer if I open a game program sometimes my computer would freeze crash instantly when I start windows with no application running Now if I get to the weird colors stage the only way I can start my computer is by clicking windows repair and doing a system restore to a time of working conditions To fix this problem I have done a variety of things First I downloaded a registry fixing program and detected and fixed my registry I thought that did the trick but the next day the same problem persisted I have done a virus scan with MSE microsoft security essentials and another anti virus program with finding nothing I updated a bunch of drivers to see if my drivers were courrupted or something and still my problem persisted I thought it was the driver that was the problem becuase in one of my freezes my computer regained control and the pop up below said there was some problem failure with a nvidia driver cant recall specifically so I updated to the most recent nvidia driver which didnt work so I re-downloaded the original driver and that didnt work either So I dont think the driver is the problem as well Then I thought it might be a heat problem so I opened up my computer and clean off all the dust out of the fans and computers My computer has a total of fans in the computer and directly attached to the nvidia graphics card So even after the cleaning my problems still persisted So my other suspects of the problem is that its a virus the graphics card is toasted the CPU is toasted or something else I really think that my graphics card is dead because the second I run a heavy D application such as games the computer freezes When im running a light application such as this google chrome or just surfing the web it rarely freezes I am also highly suspicious it might be because of a weird program in my computer that always secretly is on when i turn on my computer Its called form and I have no idea what it does so I found out what proccess application it comes from and it comes from a program called Genius exe I went to this Genius exe in the files... Well to start things off I got my computer custom built at cyberpower despite reading some pretty negative reviews about them Fresh out of the box the computer began freezing within mins of playing any game I sent it back and they replaced the CPU and that seemed to do the trick It s now been over a year later and the freezing has begun again I was playing World of Warships earlier today when games? freezing playing while Computer all of sudden my computer froze and I had to do a hard reboot Computer freezing while playing games? However windows was not starting up My monitor kept losing video Even running in safe mode it eventually lost video or froze within mins I tried rebooting about times with no luck and sometimes when it crashed it looked like the bios screen was coming up as it said Gigabyte on the top of the screen but then it would lose video So I initially thought either my motherboard or cpu were fried I waited about an hour to try to start it up again and this time it worked The idle temps were normal and everything seemed fine Then I waited a little bit and tried to play world of warships again mins in I checked the CPU temp and it was close to C but about mins later another freeze I didn t get a chance to look at the temp However this time it rebooted fine and did not crash or lose video like before Now here I am trying to find any help on the internet The year warranty is up so i m on my own Here are my specs CPU- AMD FX- ghz GPU- AMD R x GB HIS ICQ Edition OS- Win bit Coolant- Asetek LX MM watercooler Motherboard- Gigabyte GA- FX-UD SLI Crossover DDR SATA AM PS- Azza W Plus Let me know if you need any other specs I can also take a picture of what it looks like inside if that helps at all Also i m not a big computer wiz so please be as simple as possible if that makes any sense Thanks nbsp

A:Computer freezing while playing games?

Hi and welcome to TSG.

Based purely on your explanation so far, the first thing I would be looking at is the Graphics Card (GPU) and cabling, not the motherboard or CPU. You say your CPU was at 60C, what are you using to check that? 60C isn't that bad if it is under load. What are the temps for the GPU like?

Firstly, I assume nothing is overclocked?
Is Windows fully patched and up to date?
Are all your drivers fully patched and up to date?

Some simple first line checks:
1) Double check all your cables and connectors from the PC to monitor are connected properly and securely. Remove and reinsert as necessary.

Your PSU doesn't appear to be a particularly good one, a very quick Google gets me info on an 850w model which only comes with a 2 year warranty, not a good sign. A good quality unit will have a minimum of 5 years warranty and the PSU is an area you really shouldn't go cheap on especially in a gaming machine. Unfortunately a lot of builds to do cheap to bring costs down.

Please download and install Speccy (its free). Run the program then following the instructions below (think they are right) to publish a report to the web, this will give us a lot of information about your system.

1.In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
2.In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
3.Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Hello! As the title says whenever I'm playing a game it'll randomly freeze for a couple seconds and buzz/loop the current sound through my speakers. Sometimes it won't recover and I'll have to shut off my computer manually. Sometimes after a long freeze it will say Display driver crashed but recovered, I've tried updating my drivers multiple times but nothing. I'm honestly not that computer savy, I've cleaned my computer multiple times and clean started it. Works for a bit but then right back at it. It could be that my graphics card isn't strong enough for the games I play? Doubtful but I'm not sure, especially since I turn down all the graphics. It usually only occurs if I'm playing a game and have a tab open or something. Also did a computer info scan that I'll attach. Thank you for your time! Truly do appreciate any help you guys can give me.

Your issue seems to be caused by a delayed TDR and the resetting of the Graphics Driver and hence you get a black screen for a moment. Could you please follow the registry tweak (Opened by pressing Windows Key + R and then typing in "regedit") :-

Navigate to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ GraphicsDrivers]

Then create a a REG_DWORD file called TdrDelay and set the value to 60

ex. "TdrDelay"=dword:00000060 (60 seconds)

Then navigate to

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\ GraphicsDrivers\DCI]

and Create a Value called

"Timeout"=dword:00000060

Let me know how it goes ^_^.

Hey TSG I have a problem with my computer when playing games In some of the newer higher demanding games mainly Mass Effect Sims Modern Warfare and occasionally Team Fortress my computer freezes the monitor goes black and shows no input the sound loops everything is unresponsive This occurs for about seconds straight until it either restarts itself or I have to press the reset button Possible causes I heard from a number of other threads that it could be from over heating I ve monitored my temperatures while ingame and the only real problem was that Core was about degree C Also sometimes this freezing happens after minutes of turning on the PC and playing a game in the morning Also from another thread I read it could be from a low performance PSU which then I relised I had the computer s default one But I bought a new PSU which should be more than capable of handling this This is a personal theory of mine but I have two wall sockets running my PC system and other devices But for each of these two plugs I have a power board plugged in to allow more devices to run such as my printer and speakers My computer shares the wallsocket with my monitor speakers and internet power plug while the other powerboard powers my printer homephone and Crashing/Freezing Games while playing wireless mouse Maybe there isn t enough power getting to the computer My friend suggested to update my BIOS which Crashing/Freezing while playing Games is apparently extremely outdated He says that the problem may be clocking and that a BIOS flash should fix it I would prefer to do this as a last resort as any problems could cause a severe rebooting issues A general cleanout of dust in the system might help The case a Cooler Master does have quite a few open spaces in the casing Again another solution I would prefer as a last resort is the case of faulty RAM that I would need to reposition them manually I haven t reformatted for a REALLY long time and it might be causing errors I really don t want to loose all my stuff though I ve updated my ATI Catalyst and gfx driver but I haven t updated my sound card driver Possible cause System Specs Time of this report Machine name S Operating System Windows XP Home Edition Build Service Pack xpsp sp gdr - Language English Regional Setting English System Manufacturer Gigabyte Technology Co Ltd System Model EP -UD BIOS Award Modular BIOS v PG Processor Intel R Core TM Quad CPU Q GHz CPUs Memory MB RAM Page File MB used MB available Windows Dir C WINDOWS DirectX Version DirectX c DX Setup Parameters Not found DxDiag Version bit Unicode Card name ATI Radeon HD Series Manufacturer ATI Technologies Inc Chip type ATI Radeon Graphics Processor x DAC type Internal DAC MHz Device Key Enum PCI VEN amp DEV amp SUBSYS amp REV Display Memory MB Current Mode x bit Hz Monitor Plug and Play Monitor Monitor Max Res Driver Name ati dvag dll Driver Version English DDI Version or higher Driver Attributes Final Retail Driver Date Size bytes WHQL Logo d n a WHQL Date Stamp n a VDD n a Mini VDD ati mtag sys Mini VDD Date bytes Device Identifier D B EE -D - CF- C - C A C CB Vendor ID x Device ID x SubSys ID x Revision ID x Revision ID x Video Accel ModeMPEG C ModeMPEG D Registry OK DDraw Status Enabled D D Status Enabled AGP Status Enabled DDraw Test Result Not run D D Test Result Not run D D Test Result Not run D D Test Result Not run Description Realtek HD Audio output Default Sound Playback Yes Default Voice Playback Yes Hardware ID HDAUDIO FUNC amp VEN EC amp DEV amp SUBSYS A amp REV Manufacturer ID Product ID Type WDM Driver Name RtkHDAud sys Driver Version English Driver Attributes Final Retail WHQL Logo d n a Date and Size bytes Other Files Driver Provider Realtek Semiconductor Corp HW Accel Level Basic Cap Flags x Registry OK Sound Test Result Not run I can provide information if requested Thanks in advance Andrew nbsp

my computer gets bluescreen randomly when playing. it happens in almost every game, even games like TES: oblivion crashes. many games like GTAsan andreas just freezes and stays that way for infinte time or until I shut down the computer. the computer can handle games like skyrim without lagging at all. but instead this happens. I think it be my computer overheating or something.

any help for me?

A:BSOD and freezing while playing games

Here is a simple test to determine if it is indeed a heat issue. Open your side panel and remove it. Place a small fan and on low setting have it blow into your system. Now play the games that cause your issue. What are the results?

Also, if there is dust build up then clean the dust out using a can of condensed air. Spray the air in burst no closer than 6 inches. DO NOT TURN THE CAN OVER. Keep it upright. Clean your cpu and especially your video card fan.

I have a custom pc with a zotac nforce 620i motherboard, nvidia geforce 9500gt 512 mb graphics card, 2 gigs of ram, and dual Intel Pentium E2180 processors at 2GHz each. I have updated all drivers, maxed out the fan on the graphics card, checked for cpu usage and ram space and everything has worked out. I dont know if there is anymore information needed for someone to help me, but if there is just let me know and i'll try to get it. I would really appreciate any help with this problem. ive just bought my computer brand new its had a few problems so far but easy enough to fix but now that its actually up and running when i try to play games my computer just freezes i think its overheating but when i used my hardware monitor spftware i got with my AMD Atholon 64 +3000 and it says my MB usually about 28 C and my CPU is between 25-28 C when i play games it just freezes after about 5 or 10 minutes sometimes i even get about half an hour but i minimized it and checked the hardware monitor and it said my CPU rose to only 31-35 C and my MB rose to 30 C what could be the problem all the fans work perfectly i have a Fan in my Powersupply on on rear panel and on on front panel and on on my CPU and graphics card.

Could anyway help me please?

You could try testing your memory. Sometimes bad memory can cause issues.
Here's a memory testing program.
http://hcidesign.com/memtest/

Also, an underpowered/cheaply made power supply can also cause problems. Do you know what psu you have (brand/model/specs)?

I do not know what exactly causes it but after playing certain games the screen remains black without a mouse cursor and the only solution at first appeared to be to reboot the system So this truly seemed to be a black screen of death Sadly there is no log file for this despite a critical error message in the Event viewer stating that the OS was restarted unexpectedly which comes as little surprise considering I had to reboot the PC manually to get the screen back Sadly there are no entries of the explorer exe crashing or freezing itself so I'm absolutely in the dark (PC): freezing crashing Explorer.exe keeps while playing Win 10 / Pro games. regarding what causes it I had similar issues under Windows where the explorer exe the executable for the file explorer was to blame as well As a matter of Win 10 Pro (PC): Explorer.exe keeps crashing / freezing while playing games. fact this is a reason why I switched to Windows as I had hoped it would solve the issue after I had scanned the system files while still using Win and having been informed that some system files were corrupted Sadly switching to Windows did not fix this I even did a clean install after first upgrading i e formatting the hard drive and then installing the OS so at least at that point there can't have been any corrupted system files there and I've also done a scan in the meantime which came up with no file integrity issues I have meanwhile discovered that manually disconnecting the display from the graphics card and then re-attaching it gives me the mouse cursor back which in turn enables me to re-enable explorer exe which is indeed the culprit here - as I had suspected As this is no classical BSOD I have sadly no memory dump file to provide additional information I have an i K and a MSI GTX Twin Frozr with GB Ram and GB RAM To the best of my knowledge I have updated drivers for all peripherals What strikes me as odd is that it doesn't happen for every game and sometimes the mouse cursor will vanish ingame preceding the blackout the game continues to run I just don't have a mouse cursor anymore and when I exit the game the screen is black Also I found it pretty much shocking when a tech support guy from microsoft today suggested that I should ask the community as they - and I am quoting now - did not have enough experience with Windows yet I really find this shocking coming from a tech support guy working for the very company who developed this masterpiece So here I am hoping that one of you might have an idea The only quot solution quot he could offer was to send me an outdated link from for one of the beta builds that did not even contain a viable download link So here I am hoping that one of ya might have an idea If you need additional information I might actually be able to provide as I said there is no memory dump as the PC doesn't technically quot crash quot please do let me know The explorer exe simply quot freezes up quot

A:My computer is freezing randomly. But only when I'm playing games.

Freezing under games is most likely due to the increased load put on your processor. If your system is overclocked (fairly likely if it is custom-built) then voltages/settings in the bios need to be appropriately adjusted within safe limits to maintain the overclock. If it is not overclocked than the problem could be due to overheating as a result of inadequate cooling. At the very least get the dust bunnies off the inside of your PC and fan filters. Try temporarily running the games with the computer side panel removed, if this helps then inadequate internal airflow is most probably the culprit. These suggestions are oversimplifications but should get you started.

Okay at first I thought this was an overheating problem now I m convinced it s the motherboard This was mentioned in the thread about spontaneous rebooting but I figured it warranted its own thread My computer XP ASUS A A board has a habit of freezing up with the sound looping after a while of playing games it used to do it whenever i was doing anything that generates much heat like watching videos playing games or - mobo Freezing playing games issue?? when even burning CDs The CPU was in the high s C when this was happening I went out and bought some thermal paste and the CPU temp dropped by C Problem solved right Nope Now when I m playing a game GTA specifically the same thing happens Freezing when playing games - mobo issue?? It happens only when I have the side of the case on so it s a couple degrees hotter than with it off - up to C or so which is well under what the computer idled at before I put the thermal paste on The CPU s now sitting at C So can anyone verify that this is a motherboard issue Thanks nbsp

A:Freezing when playing games - mobo issue??

Try running Hot CPU Tester & if that doesn't give you any problems try a memtest ( if this version of memtest doesn't work for you, try the old one -> LINK ).

Even though you do not suspect and over heating issue. Clean out all air vents with a can of air. Also go to the manufacture of the laptop Dell go to Support/Drivers locate the model number studio 1558 Make sure you select Windows 7 64bit. Download any updated video drivers available, install them then reboot. Also try temporarly disabling your anti virus while playing games also end tasking any unneeded tasks or programs while playing. These can use up RAM which can also slow down your game and Windows.
Also go to Start type in Msconfig click the Startup tap and uncheck non essential Microsoft items also do not uncheck any anti virus items. Click ok, then reboot.

A lot of startup and running programs in the back ground can slow down your system. Do a disk cleanup. Also try defraging your hard drive.

Try these let us know.

After 1 year of using integrated GC from my i5 4570 i decided to buy extrernal GPU. I did it 3 days ago, I bought R9 270. And i have some problems with random freezes when playing games. Only hard reset solving problem. There is no problems in deskop, i dont have BSOD too, so i do know where to check the logs of this event, only freezing in games. Thoese works fine (good fps), temps are ok, doesnt metter where game is instaled, in my HDD or SSD... I dont think thats colud be AC either. Its Deus G1 500W. Everything is cool until this random freezers. Its very annoying. Please give me some adviece.

And i have the up to date drivers for GPU, Catalys 14.6. ;/

A:Random freezing only when playing games, no BSOD

Patriota2 first of all, don't worry about the language, I thought you did very well. In your post you said you bought an external R9 270, did you mean an Internal? Also, you would not have any problem on the Desktop as the card is not under any strain at all. Is it only one game you are having problems with, or all games?

Please follow these instructions and post the results in your next post. Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions also

So, my computer freezes when I am playing games, not all of them.
For example in NFS MW, Ice Age 2, Ice Age 3 after 1 minute of playing the screen freezes, I hear the sound skipping then I have to restart, sometimes freezes in menu. In FIFA 09, Extreme Trucker 2 it doesn't freeze, I have the latest driver for my video card, my video card is a Sapphire HD 2600 Pro 512 MB, BUS 128, AGP.
I ran Fur Mark for 6 minutes, the temperatures were 58-61 (not passed this value), i've seen no artifacts, so I guess the video card is not broken.
GPU's temp in idle is 38-40.
GPU's software info:

Hey all,

First, this is my first post on this forum, I found this forum when looking for a solution on my problems with the laptop.

The laptop is a Dell xps L10701X (nearly one year old)
The specs are:

CPU = i7
GPU= nvidea 445M (3gb, non shared ram)
HDD = 2x 500gb
Ram = 12 gb DDR3 1333
OS = windows 7 64 bit ultimate (clean install just 2 hours ago)

2 out of 3 times i boot, the computer just freezes on booting, always happens during the windows logo.
When it boots it just takes a game or a video to totally freeze the notebook, the screen turns black when that happens.

Yesterday I have someone from Dell to replace my mainboard, but that didn't fix the problem.

Any help would be greatly apriciated.

Jory

Can someone tell me how to fix this thing?

First thing you have to do is update your profile and tell us about your computer.

Second thing is to be sure you have all the latest drivers in your computer. Do you have the newest bios for your motherboard? Motherboard drivers? Video card drivers?

A:[HELP]Computer keep freezing while watching videos and playing games.

Can you see the POST screen / BIOS prior to loading Windows? Or is there no signal at all?

If you can see POST / BIOS but lose signal as Windows loads - then that's interesting, as the recovery/safe mode uses the generic VGA driver.

The fact that the PC kept freezing coupled with the loss of signal suggests that either the card, or power supply may be faulty.

So I recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 7 , 10 was for free so why not. It was okay for weeks and i went on a holiday for 3 weeks. When i came back and plugged my PC back in it started to crash to BSOD or it just totally shuts off and restarts. I am also having these freezing problems which force me to manually turn off my PC ( which i know isn't the best for the PC) . Most of the time the crashing happens when Im playing games like Fallout 4,Dead by Daylight. I didn't notice any problems when being in a program like Photoshop CC . I tried programs that find system problems , scanned my hard disk and Ram too , no problems there , tried changing my power supply if its getting enough power . No fixes.

This probably goes without saying since you didn't mention it, but are all your drivers are updated? Nonupdated sound card or integrated sound drivers can cause all sorts of glitches from my experiences. I believe I had this sort of problem a few years back and it ended up having to do with Dirxct X 8 or 9.

A couple of days ago my pc started to behave weird or sound freezing watching videos and playing Buzz games when It would turn off when I'm playing games But the weird thing is that the blue light on my pc would not go off only my monitor would But I could hear that the tower was making no noise at all I thought it would be overheating so I oponed my case and cleaned it it was really dusty After I cleaned it it worked fine again but the next day I got a weird buzz and at the Buzz sound and freezing when playing games or watching videos same time Buzz sound and freezing when playing games or watching videos my game stutters freezes This happens every few seconds and then stops for maybe minutes and then repeats it self by stuttering freezing for like minutes again It's really annoying but I can't rule out overheating because I downloaded HwMonitor and it said that my Geforce GT gets to like degrees while playing games I cleaned it but I just can't get it to lower I know the graphics card isn't good but I can't upgrade due to the size of my case If anybody knows how I can fix my problem please comment

A:Buzz sound and freezing when playing games or watching videos

Hi, Welcome to Seven forums.

If it's a constant buzzing sound or a ticking sound I would go with something like a wire brushing against a fan, or possibly a dead hard drive which makes like a grinding squealing noise. It could also be the CPU fan, if it's a really cheap fan and the blade is spun while the fan is not on the motor can burn out. This will usually either stop the fan from moving at all or it will still spin a little and make a grinding hum.

All of these aren't good, like if you were to keep watching YouTube, freeze, reboot, YouTube, freeze, whatever part that isn't liking this WILL die completely eventually. If it's the hard drive, your files may be at stake, or if it's the CPU fan you may need a whole new computer, so this is why I'm letting you know. So I would stop watching videos if you don't have to.

First, update the drivers for your graphic card. Download the latest drivers for the card and Driver sweeper. Uninstall the old drivers, run driver sweeper. It will clean the leftovers of the old driver. Install the latest driver.

Keep the case open and see if the temps goes down. Are you saying 104 C? if yes, you might fry the card.

Ever since I delivered it to him, it's been either freezing (often with popping from his headphones) indefinitely or producing BSODs. These can be as often as a couple of times a day.

Generally the crashes occur when he is gaming or watching Youtube videos, but sometimes they also occur upon restarting the computer immediately after a crash.

Since we both have little time on our hands, it's become a game of trying to troubleshoot the computer remotely, thus far with limited success. I've tried replacing the memory as I thought this might have been the issue, but that didn't help.

Several of these were related to your Macaffee.

I would remove and replace with Microsot Security essentials at least to test.
ALSO, AND IMPORTANT

Please remove any CD visualization programs such as Daemon Tools and Alcohol 120%.

They use a driver, found in your dmp, called sptd.sys, that is notorious for causing BSODs.

Use this SPTD uninstaller DuplexSecure - Downloads DuplexSecure - FAQ

when you're done you can use this Freeware MagicISO Virtual CD/DVD-ROM(MagicDisc) in its place.

I have a big problem with Windows XP SP2. My whole computer freezes during playing a video file. Especially when I'm working with some other programs (such as I.E. , mIRC, Opera, Word, eDonkey....). Computer freezes sometimes after few minutes, sometimes after one hour, sometimes after few hours, sometimes immediately.... there's no exact period. I've tried to reinstall ffdshow codecs, tried various video players (Windows media player, BSPlayer, Radlight....). All other programs and everything in my computer is working perfectly (I've installed new system few weeks ago).
Any suggestion? - I don't want to reinstall everything only for one thing, especially because I think that it won't resolve my problems, because I have this problem right from the start.

My system:
P4 2.8 GHz
ASUS P4P500
1024 MB RAM
ATI RADEON 9600pro 256 MB RAM
Windows XP SP2

OK people I found the problem

"The big ?"

"Why does my computer freeze and makes a ugly sound how can I fix it"

This is how------- use a program to update your video driver (driver genie) windows update gives you a bad update that makes your video card error out and freezes your pc.

or you can roll back your driver to the last known working driver

do this and your problem is well lets say R.I.P.---lol

this will work for Windows 7 and vista NOT sure about XP

Whenever I am playing PC games (eg. Sims, Tycoon games) I notice that my video is jumpy, or it pauses as if it is buffering. I have more than enough memory (1GB) in my system. Windows XP Pro. My hard drive is a 180GBB which was recently defraged. My CPU is a 2.6 Celeron. My video right now is an Intel integrated adapter. I also noticed that my CPU usage is at 100% when the game is active. My question is if this is a CPU or a Video problem? I am thinking of purchasing an 128MB AGP Video Card. Another thing is that the game is running from the CD-ROM. Any suggestions.
P.S. I have my system setup for Best Performance.

A:Video is jumpy when playing PC games

I wouldn't think you would need a fancy card for those kind of games, do you have an option of loading the game onto the hhd?? if so try that, but hey, I'm always up for a new video card.

So I believe this problem started for me on Sunday. I had posted another problem in another thread and had thought this problem had been fixed for good. but sadly not. For some strange reason whenever I play this game called (League of Legends) my computer will crash and give me the BSOD! It does not happen automatically and not even all the time. When we had first thought this problem to be solved it allowed me to play 3 games before it crashed. Then it crashed when I attempted to load a youtube video. Right now it is allowing me to view youtube videos fine.
I am not sure exactly what the problem is. Here are the .dmp files.

Hello,

So recently I've been suffering from various BSODs / comp crashes when playing video games (usually with Path of Exile and Skyrim) and this morning after such crash, when rebooting I got the "Driver trying to corrupt the system has been caught" bsod. Due to driver verifier I know that its one of my drivers, but I have no idea how to isolate that particular driver, so that is what I am asking help for.

I've attached the diagnostic tool archive as instructed in the other thread.
So please, can one of you help me with fixing my system?

Thank you for your time
Cheers, Shadowthread

Many of us on the forums actually do not recommend automated optimization tools for Windows 7. Windows 7 does a much better job of handling its own optimization than its predecessors did. We especially do not recommend registry cleaning as an "optimization" step because automated registry cleaning causes more harm to the registry than it actually repairs.

In the future, if you need help optimizing Windows 7, please post a thread in Performance & Maintenance - Windows 7 Forums or follow the tutorial enclosed in that forum to Optimize Windows 7.

Frequently, you can determine the cause of the KERNEL_DATA_INPAGE_ERROR bug check from the error status (Parameter 2). Some common status codes include the following:0xC000009A, or STATUS_INSUFFICIENT_RESOURCES, indicates a lack of nonpaged pool resources.

0xC000009C, or STATUS_DEVICE_DATA_ERROR, typically indicates bad blocks (sectors) on the hard disk.

0xC000009D, or STATUS_DEVICE_NOT_CONNECTED, indicates defective or loose cabling, termination, or that the controller does not see the hard disk.

0xC000016A, or STATUS_DISK_OPERATION_FAILED, indicates bad blocks (sectors) on the hard disk.

0xC0000185, or STATUS_IO_DEVICE_ERROR, indicates improper termination or defective cabling on SCSI devices or that two devices are trying to use the same IRQ.

These status codes are the most common ones that have specific causes. For more information about other possible status codes that can be returned, see the Ntstatus.h file in the Microsoft Windows Driver Kit (WDK).

Another common cause of this error message is defective hardware or failing RAM.

A virus infection can also cause this bug check.

Resolution

Resolving a bad block problem: An I/O status code of 0xC000009C or 0xC000016A typically indicates that the data could not be read from the disk because of a bad block (sector). If you can restart the computer after the error, Autochk runs automatically and attempts to map the bad sector to prevent it from being used anymore.

If Autochk does not scan the hard disk for errors, you can manually start the disk scanner. Run Chkdsk /f /r on the system partition. You must restart the computer before the disk scan begins. If you cannot start the computer because of the error, use the Recovery Console and run Chkdsk /r.

Warning If your system partition is formatted with the FAT file system, the long file names that the Windows operating system uses might be damaged if you use Scandisk or another MS-DOS-based hard disk tool to verify the integrity of your hard disk from MS-DOS. Always use the version of Chkdsk that matches your version of Windows.

Resolving a defective hardware problem: If the I/O status is C0000185 and the paging file is on an SCSI disk, check the disk cabling and SCSI termination for problems.

Resolving a failing RAM problem: Run the hardware diagnostics that the system manufacturer supplies, especially the memory scanner. For more information about these procedures, see the owner's manual for your computer.

Check that all the adapter cards in the computer are properly seated. Use an ink eraser or an electrical contact treatment, available at electronics supply stores, to ensure adapter card contacts are clean.

Check the System Log in Event Viewer for additional error messages that might help identify the device that is causing the error. You can also disable memory caching of the BIOS ... Read more

Hi, I've recently been playing a lot of Path of Exiles.  Just recently I have had a problem with bluescreens.

The stop error code is: Stop: 0xA0000001

It only happens when I play Path of Exiles and my friend and I discovered a connection between my Avria anti-virus software trying to update and my computer going into a bluescreen while playing PoE.

Because of this, we uninstalled Avira and I have yet to have a bluescreen, we also ran Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and nothing came up.

My friend thinks there might be a potential virus or malware on my computer that causes my computer to crash when Avira tries to alert me.

Hello,

How are the temps and voltage readings? If the PC is currently overclocked please reset back to defaults for testing purposes

Boot into the BIOS and post the temp and voltage readings. Usually Under Hardware Monitor,PC Health Status, or similar.

Once you have this info Install HWMonitor and take a screenshot of the program at idle and under load.

The one attached dump seem to indicate a problem with the processor that could be caused by heat or voltaage, or a bad CPU.

Hello and welcome flaccorice mate you need to use this to read the dump files
WinDBG - Install and Configure for BSOD Analysis
and I am assuming you can read them of course. I have just started doing this and it is no easy task

Also yes mate it is a very good idea to upload the specs on your machine so we can see what we are working with ie no good replacing the tyres on a car unless one know what size they need to be

System Info - See Your System Specs

Now it would again be a good idea to upload the dump files anyway as many hands make light work.

I don't want to make this long and confusing, but here is my problm. I used to be able to play any games on my computer. However, recently, I've been getting errors like make sure you have directx 8.1 or higher installed, well i know i do. I was able to play command and conquer Generals before, now when I play it gives me this error. Could something be wrong with my video card?? Could it be the Ram in my video card by any chance?? if so, how could I clean that up??

please feel free to email me about this also......

Hello, recently I've been experiencing some problems. I get the BSOD while playing video games. At first, it only happened with Simpsons HIT&RUN (pretty old game), other games worked fine. Yesterday, bsod started appearing while I was playing Tomb Raider after about 3 hours of gameplay. Now, it happens every time I start the game, after about 10-20 minutes.
I attached the dmp file, thanks in advance!

A:Problems with playing video or games

Here are a couple of things I would try.

1.Update your network adapter drivers (Let me know if you need help doing so)
2.Check and make sure that the file you are trying to play is a. Not corrupted b. Compatible with that player

Also, have you always had problems with these games are is this a new problem

So I've been having bsod problems for the past month or so and they seem to always happen when I'm playing games, mainly Ark:Survival evolved and Overwatch. It doesn't happen after a few minutes or anything but after a long gaming session like 5-8 hours it would bsod. Here is my dm log.

I've built a custom computer almost a year ago and have been having problems with games playing while BSOD video most it eversince At first random crashes and BSOD were bearable and i didn't make much of them months ago it finally became unbearable and i wasn't able to play of my video games They all crashed after minutes if the computer didn't reboot because of a BSOD first There were a couple of times where these didn't happen at all and because of this inconsistency i was unable to reproduce this problem when i brought my pc to a computer engineer Even if they saw what the problem was no one could tell BSOD while playing most video games me what caused it Needless to say i have formatted my hard drives and did multiple clean installs since and before then to no avail A month ago with one of my friends we thought we solved the problem after we disabled my motherboard's wi-fi go option and none of the stress tests came back with a BSOD they didn't last mins before But after a week the same problem came back and i have been trying to deal with it eversince To be more brief -Video Games crash to desktop most times -Every or crash where i'm playing video games is replaced by a BSOD instead -It has given me BSODs a couple of times when i'm not playing a video game but it's very very rare What i have tried -Complete clean installs on multiple different internal HDDs -Different versions of Windows and even Windows -Cooling down the system to the point that i'm now using fans -I have rolled my LAN and GPU drivers back and did clean installs on them I'm sorry if i've given too much information or if i have given too little but this really has bothered me to the point that i've thought about selling each part individually and building a new custom PC I hope you come up with a solution that finally solves this irritating problem that could potentially ruin my life Edit After reviewing the zip file i've attached i've realized that it only includes a couple of dump files this i suspect is because i've used ccleaner earlier today Most earlier dump files consisted of quot DRIVER IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL quot and quot nvlddmkm sys quot and i realize that the ones i've attached do not So there you go

Anyone able to help finding and solving the issue?

A:BSOD when playing video games

Recommendations:Crashes point to a hardware fault. Do the following hardware testing:

Quote:

NOTE:If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

Run FurMark to test the display card for artifacts and temperature issues.

Run Display card memory tests to check the display card for memory problems.

Run all Basic tests with SeaTools: S.M.A.R.T. Check, Short Drive Self Test, Drive Information, Short Generic, and Long Generic. Run the tests for all HDDs.SeaTools for Windows

SeaTools for DOS
Run Memtest86+ for at least 7-10 passes. It may take up to 22 passes to find problems. Make sure to run it once after the system has been on for a few hours and is warm, and then also run it again when the system has been off for a few hours and is cold.

Run Prime95 to test your CPU, RAM modules, and general hardware.

I also recommend you update/replace/remove the following drivers:

AODDriver2.sys Tue Mar 6 01:39:27 2012 (4F55CD3F)
AMD Overdrive; also in EasyTune6 for Gigabyte motherboard [br] Known BSOD issues in Win7
http://www.carrona.org/drivers/driver.php?id=AODDriver2.sys

To update drivers, make sure to download the drivers from the manufacturer and not using 3rd party programs. Your drivers should be found from your motherboard support site (ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, etc.) or your vendor support site (Dell, HP, Toshiba, Sony, etc.) first. If you have devices you bought yourself, the drivers for those devices need to be downloaded from the manufacturer support site for those devices. If you need help, let us know.

To remove drivers, do so by uninstalling the device or software associated with the driver. Devices can be uninstalled through device manager, and then the device itself should be physically removed from the system if possible.

3rd Party Drivers: The following is for information purposes only. My recommendations were given above. The drivers that follow belong to software or devices that were not developed by Microsoft. Any drivers in red should be updated/replaced/removed. You can find links to the driver information and where to update the drivers in the section after the code box:

Hello. I just registered.
My PC keeps freezing while I watch a movie or listen to music. It acts like in this video:

I plugged it into a new wall socket, and cleaned it from dust, updated Windows 10 to version 1511, and I even moved the ram memory in different slots, but the buzz still happens for a millisecond. I haven't experienced this in games afaik though.

Can anyone please help me? It is getting annoying. Before Windows 10, I had Windows 8.1, but I upgraded. This happened with Windows 8.1 as well.

Please someone help me. Many thanks.

So, since I have formatted my comp and installed Vista, i've been getting large spikes of lag when viewing videos or playing videogames. So, I decided to start watching my resource meter whenever this started happening.

After watching the resource monitor for quite a while, I noticed that the lag spike was caused by heavy disk activity from C:\Users\MyName\Local\Temp\fla45C.tmp

I've ran Kapersky antivirus and Trend Micro's Housecall, neither found any malware, viruses, or trojans. So what could this be? What is the purpose of fla45C.tmp?

I would really like help in stopping this issue ASAP. Thanks in advance.

Randomly, when I am playing a video game on my computer, generally ones with higher quality graphics, my computer will freeze or the monitor will go into a sleep-like state, even though it is set not to do so. When it freezes it will usually, after 20 secs or so, goto the desktop and have an error about VPU Recover and something with an error report. When the monitor goes into a sleeplike state I have to restart my computer.

My system specs are
AMD Athlon 64 3200+
512 MB RAM
ATi Radeon 9600 Pro

I am using WinXP Pro.

Anyone have any clue whats going on and how to fix it? Thanks!

As the title says I have this problem where when I play a video game mostly any video game for some time It might Games after Video playing screen Black be to a short minute to a long hour my computer Black screen after playing Video Games freezes and I get a black screen When I push restart the black screen Black screen after playing Video Games is still there so I have to push on quot Shut down quot I think Black screen after playing Video Games this is called a hard reset I've been searching for help about this issue but it is completely futile I've tried this thread in this same forum Random Black screens and freezing with nVIDIA GTX I'll have to say the story about this I've never had this problem before until I got this new now kind of old year old computer The old computer had an old motherboard that I don't even know which it was but I'm sure it was ASUS' too It also had an Intel Q The rest were the same as today such as the Nvidia GTX Also I have a different Power Box the old one had w and this one has w or w not sure if I need to be sure just tell The first time I experienced this problem was on a video game Yes this only happens on video games I can't recall which video game it was first probably quot Heroes of Might amp Magic V quot or quot The Elder Scrolls Oblivion quot Since then I thought it was my videocard's problem mostly the driver I tried using different drivers doing clean er installs and so on then I thought I fixed it but I realized I didn't Right now this problem is kind of quot low quot but it happens on my favourite games It happens on Warcraft III and its expansion The Frozen Throne as well as Age of Mythology For those that know it and to be A LOT more specific WC got the screen first when I saw the cinematic for Arthas talking about how he didn't visit that Elven city for a long time since he was a boy Afterwards doing something with Nvidia config I somehow fixed the black screen problem but I know I didn't For the Frozen Throne while playing Rexxar's campaign I get the black screen at very random intervals For Age of Mythology it crashed at that part where Ajax gets attacked by Trojan cavalry right when I saved him and started building the base Then it kept getting black screens out of nowhere I had quot Hardware Sound Acceleration quot on I disabled it but I'm not too sure if that fixed it or not Actually it didn't at all Now I have a theory that perhaps all these black screens are because of my faulty sound card but I don't think I have a sound card probably just the Motherboard one It is Realtek's As I said before on that other thread I tried removing Realtek too but no results at all On another note I also have that quot Nvidia Driver stopped responding and has successfully recovered quot problem crash luckily this problem has stopped By the way I'd rather have this problem than the Black Screen one I'm sure you'd know why if you ever suffered both Not saying that I wish I had both problems So here I am struggling to fix this problem already I'll do anything to fix it but I am also hoping I won't get any MORE problems If more information is needed I will provide it Are there any more ideas for this P S I put this thread on quot General discussion quot because I am unsure which problem it is either driver's graphics card hardware sound card device and so on

A:Black screen after playing Video Games

i would check the the temperatures of the GPU with msi afterburner and see what it idles at and see what it loads at when gaming your card might over heating or it might just be failing. also you might want to reseat your RAM and GPU and in your bios disable onboard audio to see if it fixes your issue. Check your even logs in windows and see if any odd errors come up. Finally use speccy > Speccy - Download and publish your report by going to file/publish snapshot like below then link us to your snapshot so we can see if anything looks odd.

Hello all and thank you in advance for anything you can do to help me. I've been working on my laptop for a few weeks now because I've been dealing with a lot of BSOD's lately. I've had my laptop for just over a year and this last month has taken a turn for the worse. For the first 6months I had the laptop there were one or two BSOD's I experienced, but they were very infrequent. Over the last month I've been using my laptop more and I've had many blue screens while watching videos, playing games, and just using the internet. I'm a pretty light user and don't have a lot of stuff installed. I've gone through the basics and run memtest, scanned for viruses, etc. I'm just not sure what more I should do now.
Sorry for the long post and thank you very much in advance!

I usually am Playing League of Legends or World of Warcraft (not so much this game it does it) but on League of Legends... out of nowhere my game will drop from 30-40 FPS down to 7 FPS in an instant and then restarting the client does not work, and the rest of my PC starts to lag as well.. I have to do a soft reset on the computer and it works fine.

Any suggestions?

Hi, everyone. Just when I thought my BSOD issues from last year were solved, they've seemed to pop up again. This time, I'm mainly experiencing issues with "IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL" and ntoskrnl.exe. I'm hoping that it's a software error like a driver rather than a hardware one. These BSODs mainly occur after a lengthy amount of time streaming videos and playing computer games.

I'll be sure to stress test my CPU, RAM, and GPU soon. For now, attached are my SF Diagnostic files. Thank you in advance.

A:BSOD After Video Streaming and Playing Games

Normally with these dumps I would say a system driver is using wrong pointers but because it's so consistent I think otherwise.

Code:
BugCheck A, {3, 2, 0, fffff800032d7785}
Given that the address being referenced was 3 it's pretty clear that it's invalid memory, I believe the first accessible address which is used for user mode at boot is 0x10000 although I might be slightly off with that one.

Again another IP misalignment...

Code:
BugCheck D1, {1, 2, 0, fffff88001887e85}
Again an invalid memory address was referenced.

Code:
BugCheck 9C, {0, fffff88002f6db70, 0, 0}

Code:
2: kd> !mca fffff88002f6db70
Machine Check feature not present
CP F/M/S Manufacturer MHz PRCB Signature MSR 8B Signature Features
2 6,58,9 GenuineIntel 3400 0000001200000000 21193ffe
On X64 systems to use the !mca command I believe I need to acquire private HAL symbols which I'm struggling to find at this moment in time if they're available to the public.

A machine check exception from my experience is quite rare as it's not common for one to be called if its bad RAM.
Nevertheless I think its best we test RAM first.

   Information
Download it here:

Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool

Which one should I download?

You have two options to choose from, you can either download the ISO version then burn it do a CD and boot it from there.
The other option is downloading the auto installer for USB sticks, you then boot from that USB stick.
Be warned though, it will format your USB then install the files needed to make it bootable so any files left over will be wiped off.

So how does it work?

It works by writing a series of test patterns to most memory addresses over 9 tests, it then reads the data back to compare it for errors.

The default pass does 9 different tests varying in access patterns and test data. A tenth pass is optional from the menu which writes all the memory in zeroes then sleeps for 90 minutes and compares it to see if any address have changed, this takes 3 hours per pass each time.

My memtest86 isn't booting! What should I do?

This can be caused by a number of different reasons, common ones include your BIOS not setting using the correct settings, you might want to change your boot priority order.
Other causes include your motherboard not supporting bootable USB sticks in which case you'll need to use a CD (or floppy drive).

Any other issues you might want to look here:

FAQ : please read before posting
If bad RAM isn't found then I suggest you remove these programs as I've seen uncountable cases where these have caused BSODs.

Code:
Start Menu\Programs\ASUS\AI Suite II Public:Start Menu\Programs\ASUS\AI Suite II Public
Start Menu\Programs\DAEMON Tools Pro Public:Start Menu\Programs\DAEMON Tools Pro Public
AI Suite is bloatware that can even set improper BIOS timings, try removing the CMOS battery then placing it back in which might be the cause of the problem.
Daemon Tools causing BSODs by using a bad driver that likes to misbehave in random ways, mainly using bad pointers and accessing memory it shouldn't.
