I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

I'm having problems with my the graphics card on my laptop. It's an APU and I have picture and videos problems. Whenever I watch movies or look at pictures I see most things fuzzy, (if that makes any sense). I tried to watch a DVD and the video quality was unbearable. The most unbelievable thing is it affects picture quality. I can't do anything without poor quality pictures or videos. I have tried installing new drivers and all sorts of things. Is it me or is it my laptop?

My Laptop Specs:

AMD A6 Quad Core APU 1.5Ghz
AMD Radeon HD 6520G
6GB DDR3 Memory 1066Mhz
Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit

As you supply no technical information, it's hard to guess.

Is the laptop display running at its native resolution?

My video that I made looks great when i watch it on my computer, but when i upload it to FaceBook or Youtube, it looks reall blurry. I've tried about 8 different formats like MPEG AVI MP4 XVID and others but every time the video is blurry and all formats (regardless if it is supposed to make video look nicer than other formats) look EXACTLY THE SAME. What should I do and what am I doing wrong?

A:Solved: Youtube Video Quality

Your doing nothing wrong. It's been "compressed" to make it faster to download for streamed playing online.
That compression reduces the quality.

In the interest of balancing memory used in a file and a relatively good video output (family vacation, etc.) what are good choices? I'm using Any Video Converter and really like it and I have choices as to what to convert my .mpeg files too. Good choices seem to include
.xvid
.wmv2
.wmv1
and a few others.
I can also then put converted files into Windows Movie Maker for some editing.

The first two, after conversion ran acceptably in VLC and WMPlayer

Hi,

I'm just wondering if buying a better video card for the PC will improve the quality of the picture on my plasma??

I'm not sure if it is a Hi-Def plasma but the quality just looks poor when the image is being sent from the PC.

The quality is quite good when a DVD is being played.

Any help would be great. Thanks in advance.

A:Video Quality

Hello FredRock,

Here is the deal with the video. Video is only going to play as good as the source file. You're equipment is pretty nice, but if the video itself is of poor quality then your playback will be of poor quality as well.

Let me give you a simple example.

Lets say you have a video, the resolution is set to 720dpi. This is a really High quality video, SHD quality. Will be play beautifully on your monitor. Will take up a lot of disk space though, around 8gb for a movie (compression and other variable not widthstanding). Same video, at 320 dpi. This is a lot lower quality, will look blocky or grainy, take up about 1gb for the same movie.

I hope this helps explain it. There truely is so much with video it is dizzying, divx decoders, and drivers, and compression methods and players makes me wanna vomit from time to time just thinking about.

I hope this helps.

A:video quality i

It sounds like a codec issue the way you describe it. There are a number of tools that allow you to view/remove or analyse the codecs on the system. I can't recommend one off hand but maybe another member can. Have you installed any codec packs on the system before the issue started? Do you have any codec packs installed on your system at all? Most codec packs tend to mess up systems even the so called "lite ones." It's best to simply install the codecs you need instead of a codec pack.

One that does seem to be better then the rest is the K-Lite Codec Pack. It does have tools to remove bad/corrupted codecs on your system. It's worth a try if someone else doesn't have a better sugestion.

Tape is probably better because when it's captured onto pc the files are avi (best quality), whereas vcd files are usually mpeg 2 (compressed quality). Plus working on avi in editing is a lot quicker than mpeg.

A:Poor video quality

Are you loading high quality videos?
If that's the case you most likely have the wrong codecs installed.
Check out www.matroska.org. Or install the VLC player, it's a player for almost any OS in existence, I believe, complete with the essential codecs (including Matroska, I think).

The easiest thing to try first would be VLC media player portable from this page:
VideoLAN - Download official VLC media player for Windows

It comes with its own codecs. If that doesn't give a clearer picture then you should post some details about the video, codec used, player etc..

How do you improve the video quality of a song without compromising its audio

A:Video Quality of songs

What exactly are you referring to? "Songs" are audio, and thus have no video.

In any case, you can't increase the quality of a file. The best quality will be on the original or master. Once a copy is made at lower quality, that's the best it will ever be. You can't get back the quality that was discarded.

Make a new copy from the source.

Hi, I hope you guys can help me out.

When I play any form of video, be it from files, online streams or IPTV, the playback is suffering from a variety of symptoms. Any video playing keeps stopping & starting, suffers from a grainy/white interference and the resolution is quite poor. Interestingly, these problems have only transpired when the memory was upgraded to 2GB of RAM and had AutoCAD installed on it.

The new RAM seems to be running accordingly and believe I've correctly updated the Video Adapter & IPTV hardware drivers and updated all media players. The laptops fan is also noticeably louder.

Where can I go from here?

When you say "video call," do you mean both the audio and video quality? The components you've touched on are probably all fine, working as they should and doing their best for your programs to be top notch fast and capable. These components, however, can only do so much-- the main things you should look at are your speakers/audio card, microphone, and webcam.

DVI, component, or s-video

let's assume i am using a tv that's 1080p so the screen resolution isn't an issue.

A:highest quality video??

Could be DVI or component, depending on how the TV handles DVI.

Hard to explain, but some TV's don't handle DVI correctly (ie, some reconvert the DVI internally), but if it works, that's the best way to go.

Is there a noticeable difference between a movie encoded on DVD at 8000kb/sec and a lower level such as 5900kb/sec?

The maximum quality level makes it much bigger, which would require a double layer disc so in order to make it fit on 4.7gb it would have to be reduced in bit rate. So I'm wondering if you can really tell the difference. What's the lowest level at which it does become noticeable degraded?

I like the lightscribe discs; I wish they came in double layer.

Hi,

I have just set up skype yesterday.

I connected with a friend with skype to skype. I have an old Logitech Quickcam pro 4000 and she has a new Lifecam HD 5000. The problem is, she says she can see me clearly with good quality but the video I am seeing of her is verry blurry.
I have another friend who I connected to as well and I can see the video of them is much bigger and clearer than the other friends one.

I want to know what exactly is the problem of why I can't see friend 1's video clearly? Her video cam is clearly better than mine so I wouldn't think its the webcam's problem. The only thing I can think of is maybe her upload speed is slower than mine? But even if it's slower, I should still get good image quality just a lot less FPS right?

Hope i make sense....

Hi.
I have win7 ultimate and direct x 11.
My video is very blury. On xp was much better but i still wasnt satisfied.I hoped here will be better but it isnt. Im also having klite installed.
Can you suggest me what to do to make it watchable?

A:video quality problem

The easiest thing to try first would be VLC media player portable from this page:
VideoLAN - Download official VLC media player for Windows

It comes with its own codecs. If that doesn't give a clearer picture then you should post some details about the video, codec used, player etc..

Also you will find more readers heavy into video on this forum

A:Improving video quality

No amount of "wrangling" is going to change a frog into a prince despite the fairy tales. Something you got over an IM is probably quite bad to start with and its going to stay that way. If you knew you had a high quality video and it was playing poorly then you could look into better players and codecs for that file but I don't think that's the case here is it?

The only way to improve it is go back to the original video, which hopefully is high quality and make a better copy of it (clone the prince and forget the frog altogether).

Hello all,

I am new to the site and I appologise if this is not in the correct topic.

I am having the following problem for a while now.
Does not matter what video or in what format I watch the picture quality is far from perfect, looks very grainy and black is not black.
Also sometimes the movie freezes for a few seconds and then continues.
But my main issue is with the grainy part.
I have tried many players already and all is the same.
I have not change hardware recently, only change is my OS from XP to Win7.
And I had the same issue with XP as well.

Below you can find a screenshot from a compressed HD movie.
You can find all my PC details in attached dxdiag file.

Should you need anymore information please ask and I will try and provide.

Hope you can help.
Many thanks in advanced.

Regards,
ttebayo

Are you starting with a high quality source? And what is high quality in your opinion? I think you need to be a bit more concrete in your question to get accurate help. There is plenty of software out there than can encode to mpeg2 at adjustable bitrates or even vc-1.

Hi Folks,

This is a new concept for me. I want to have my computer in another room. It will be about 15 - 20 feet away.

Does anyone know anything about KVM Extenders for keyboard, mouse and monitor and more importantly if it will cause my image quality to suffer ???

I will be playing games with my system. My other option is to use high quality VGA monitor and USB mouse / keyboard extenders.

I wasn't sure which option will give me the best video image and signal strength ??

A:KVM Switch Extender and video quality ???

I have a KVM with 25' cables, works fine. You shouldn't have any problems.

I don't think you'd have any problems with extender cables either. It may be cheaper to buy a KVM that includes the cables rather than buy the extender cables..

Hi,

just installed Vista x64 on our HTPC, installed drivers and some more. Thought I'd test some video now to see things will work fine later on when we planned for a movie.

IT LOOKS HORRIBLE!

First I thought it was a poor quality on the movie, but everything I tested seems crap. Pixly, squares, overall crap, looks like 320x200 VGA game or something :s

I've tested with PowerDVD, VLC and MCE. All are crap.

I've tested different resolutions, but basically am using same settings as I had in XP before. So is there something about Vista I'm unaware of?

Running on a 42" Pioneer Plasma, hooked up through DVI -> HDMI (HD2600XT).

Desktop image and all that looks just fine btw, running 1280x720.

Please help!

A:Crap quality video in Vista x64?

It could well be a codec issue. What type of video file were you trying to play or were there numerous different types. You might not have the correctones installed

Fdd show could be worth a try. It's free.
http://www.free-codecs.com/download/FFDShow.htm

It inlcudes some great post processing features which can be used to fine tune your videos.

It will decode all sorts of widely used video/audio codecs.

Otherwise which drivers do you have loaded for your gpu? Check for updates.

Also theres a laod of settings in the catalyst control centre that you could try that might effect your video display image.

Hi,

Absolute novice here in the multimedia platfrom so I need some advice with my now painfully obvious mistakes!

I recently captured some old 8mm camcorder tape and burned to dvd (1st attempt). It seems that in the first few weeks of owning a camcorder, I recorded footage with an 'animation' feature switched on.

The result is a sometimes fuzzy/wavey type of output which I was wondering if I could clean up/sharpen the file after capture, if so, what software could I use?

Also, the audio is slightly out of sync but the instructions of the capture decive I used (Tevion DVD MAKER) says the DVD settings are predifined and must not be changed.

I just wondered if I should try and change the frame rate-maybe toggle between NTSC and PAL system settings?

Thanks in advance for any assistance

1080P is the HD standard at this point. There will post likely be a 4K option in the future, but Youtube is still struggling to add 3D support, so dont expect it any time soon. But with HTML5 finalized as of yesterday, youtube will begin to roll it out within the next year I am guessing

Hello

I noticed that after editing my .wmv file in moviemaker (either trimming or combining) the video quality decreases alot, and if a choose a higher quality from the 'save to computer' option the result is very large file but still not much difference in the video image.

Can some body recommend me a software (video editor compatible with multiple formats) which ONLY trims (sometime combine also) the unwanted footage without interfering with the video specs.

This happens regardless of what player I use to view them (You Tube, iTunes, Media Player). If I play a professional video in You Tube it is OK.

All other types of video are fine and all other sound output is fine.

If I transfer the same video to my HTC phone the sound quality is normal.

Hi friends:

I have an HP dv5-1002nr laptop. Seven days ago, I upgraded from Windows Vista Home Premium to Windows 7. I updated all drivers, per the HP support site, and all seems to be working really good.

The only issue is when viewing downloaded or other videos that are in on my pc (no problem with online viewing or DVDs). The videos are fuzzy/with blocks, pixelated. This is especially true the bigger I make the viewing screen. Aweful.

I have done much googling, and tweaking. I've used a number of video players. Many seem to have the problem, but I've been able to get no solution.

Please help. This is really a major issue for me.

Thanks,
Hiram

Hi, guys. I'm looking for some explanations. My main question is how to improve the quality of flv video file.

Can I use flv converter 7 for that? I saw several options there:
- video window (that can vary from 400x300 to 768x576 pixels);
- video bitrate (that vary from 96 to 1200 Kbps);
- video frame rate (that vary from 8 to 30 fps).
How to use these options to make a quality of the flv video better? For example, is the quality of the video better if the video is 768x576 pixel than if it is 400x300 pixels? Is the quality of the video better if video bitrate is 1200 Kbps than if it is 96 Kpbs? Is it better if frame rate is 30 than if it is 8 fps?

Thank you for your explanations and your time.

Hi , Im experiencing problems when transfering video from my Sony Handycam (DV) to my PC , or perhaps its better to say that the problem is with the quality of the video once burned. Whilst if connecting the camera to the TV gives great results on playback , I have found the picture quality is grainy if the video has been captured/encoded/burnt to DVD. I have used Sonys software , Nero and Roxio all with disappointing results. My PC has XP , and Im using the firewire cable that I was forced to buy as Sony didnt provide one.

I have hp EliteBook 8470p i5-3320m , 8GB ram , Intel HD 4000 graphic card. A:Video and Graphics Quality Problem

There are two types of motherboard for that model. One has only UMA or integrated video and one has switchable discrete video. If your BIOS and device manager is not showing an AMD Radeon video card then you have just the Intel HD4000 series integrated video.  The HD4000 should have no problem with full HD full screen MP4 playback assuming you have the right drivers and video codecs installed. You say that some full HD videos play OK and others not? What video player are you using? Is there any common feature to the ones that play OK and those that do not? To answer, no you cannot change video memory allocation. That is done automatically and there is no adjustment. Plenty of video memory is available so that is not the problem. No there is no way to upgrade the video chip without also changing out the motherboard, which would be very costly. 16 gigs of RAM would not alter the video performance.

It is better if you re-install in safe mode.

After video taping I notice that my videos seem to look like the video is dripping or to be streaking at the bottom of the video image if that makes any sense.

The lens is clean and clear, I use good lighting.

The camera is almost 2 years old and just recently started doing this on
new or old tapes. I have tried using the mini tape cleaners in it to clean it and there is no difference unless there is some special one that should be used?

The camera is a Samsung digital camcorder, SCD70 ntsc, mini DV.

Help.

Have you cleaned the heads of your camera since your purchased it----Usually the kind of degradation you are describing is caused by dirty or clogged heads---

Is there any possible way to make DVD plays in VLC Media with better video quality like PowerDVD? It'd better be free better not be complicated (I'm not an advanced computer user).

A:Video Quality In Vlc Media Player

Don't see why not. When you put in your DVD go to "My Computer" then click the DVD icon then open with... choose VLC Player. I haven't tested this because when I play DVD's I usually play them with Windows Media Player.

-EDIT-

Also, a video quality relies on many things.. Graphics Card, RAM (<-- I think), Codecs (<-- MAIN ONE). So I think if you look around the net for some video codecs they should play your videos better. For me I like K-lite media codec pack, or something around that name I forgot. =P

I temporarily upped my broadband dsl to the 500kbs package (normally I have 256kbs and get around 217kbs). I wanted to see if it would improve streaming video like episodes online, video clips on foodnetwork.com, etc. It doesn't seem to be having much effect.

I have a pretty new computer running Vista - 1.60ghz processor and 2gb ram. Speedtest ran gave me 459kbps download and 188 kbps upload.

Even sites like hulu.com keep buffering and tidaltv.com tells me I don't have enough bandwidth?

Is there some 3rd party app I could use to do this or am I goiong to have to either shell out another 20/month for the highest they offer or just read a book?

I can't really justify paying $70 a month for internet - the lowest package is 44/month for 256 and I don't have any other options out here - ther than satellite.

Thanks.

I got a Creative Zen PMC. I know it's last year's technology, but I got it for a good price. It's capable of storing WMV at 800kps, 320*240 resolution. The sample video that came with it looked really nice, but the videos I usually convert for it tend to be rather pixellated and boxy in dark areas. Not sure what the right term is... they have "artifacts", I guess. They only look like this on the PMC, not on the computer. Is there anything I can do?? Currently I use M2PMCEncoderZX, which is a very nice program. Still... I feel like video quality could be better. Any suggestions?

Also, what does "video buffer size" mean?

Here's the url for the free program:

Well I have this awesome high quality trailer from Hellgate London and its in avi format I want to set it as my desktop background im using Vista but I have to change it from avi to either mpg or wmv So my first question is whether I can get a better quality conversion from avi to mpg or wmv Size isn t important I have plenty of space The original avi file is mb Second what converter should I use I want to do this with as little quality loss as possible I m not sure but I think the avi trailer is in HD and it would be an excellent background I ve googled but the first thing i ve tried was PRISM video converter and it did the conversion in under a minute and its terrible The movie looks like it went from x resolution to x resolution and audio is horrendous I was just wondering if you guys know of any quality converters before I try any other garbage I downloaded randomly from the internet

A:I Need A High Quality Video Converter

Hi J-son.I use WinAVI Video Converter on XP and it does a great job with virtually no loss in quality. It is not free however ($30.00).There is a trial version with "limitations" though I don't know what those limitations are. Could be file size, output quality or burner (which I don't use anyway) limitations. Doesn't say vista compatable either but can't hurt to try.

Hi,

I am using a Radeon 4850 with a Samsung LN32A650 HDTV @ 1920 x 1080 @ 60Hz. Wind 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I have used both HDMI and VGA to connect using 9.1 CCC drivers as well as 8.9 CCC

VGA has excellent quality but does not work with 9.1 drivers

HDMI using both sets of drivers have text which has color fringing and in general, much inferior quality.

Can anybody point me to a solution for this.

I have tried the following:

Different HDMI cables
Different HDTV - Pioneer Elite 60"

I do not think this is a purely Windows 7 issue but I am hoping somebody may have a solution.

Thanks

A quick Google came up with people reporting same problems with samsung TVs. Are you connecting directly to the TV using HDMI? I have a different TV and card using latest Cats but I pass-through a Yamaha HTR6230B do you have a HDMI capable receiver you could pass-through?

I will test by connecting straight to TV and check the image quality...

Hello,

I am having some problems while viewing video over the internet and also when using SKYPE (a particularly frustrating problem since we are living overseas).

I originally suspected some sort of spyware / malware and posted this request to the relevant section of the forum (my first reply is more descriptive than the original post). However, a reply from Ried (who reviewed my Hijackthis log) has my system being clean. Ried suggested I try this section of the forum.

This problem has not always been there - the PC worked fine for a year or two before things started to slow.

Grateful for any help.

Checking my audio quality levels, I noticed my default setting was 24bit 48000hz (studio quality.) Is that a setting I should continue using?

The only sound output device i'm using are only a pair of Skullcandy ear phones, in-regards to that i'm assuming such a level isn't needed for playback.

So can anyone recommend me a level I should use that will be the most appropriate for my earphones?

Please respond as soon as possible.

Thank you in advance.

A:The audio quality I need for video and game playback.

That's very dificult to say, it depends on to many factors. From how sensitive your ears are to how detailed sound in games is. It could be different in different games. Best thing is to keep lowering until it's unsatisfactory for you. I don't think it matters a lot to game's performance, if that's what concerns you. Those settings for sound are all "up to", if something is recorded in low format, no settings in reproduction are going to make it better.

Hi,
I have been having a very annoying problem and I don't know how to fix it. Im trying to record YouTube videos but the quality of the videos are soo bad that i don't even want to post them. The wierd thing is that the raw footage looks PERFECT in windows media player, but the quality downgrades when the clip is added to camtasia and sony vegas, and then the clip looks even worse when uploaded to YouTube. I'm a noob at these kinds of things (as you could tell), and I have no clue how to fix this. I've been trying for a month with no avail. Help with be much appreciated!!!

Hello,

We've all seen the low quality youtube videos and the high quality youtube videos.

Does anyone know how the best (clearest, high quality, nice clear sound) youtube videos are produced?

Whats the best lossless/lossy compression formats for creating a hands down great video,

what kind of camera is needed and what are the software requirements.

Im hoping to figure out what i'll need to make it happen (as affordably possible)

Thanks

I have been looking for a High Quality Media Player to watch my AMV's. So far my search has been fruitless, so I have decided once again to ask you guys about the software you prefer. Any players suggested need to be able to read .avi, .wma, .mpeg, .mpg, Xvid and DivX

I currently have WinAmp (plays every file type that I know of but sluggish and jumpy) and WindowsMediaPlayer10 (*cough*sucks*cough*)

*edit* I am also having codec issues. Anyone know a dependible codec package for XP?

A:High Quality Video Media Player

Hi,

You might try Media Player Classic, Zoomplayer, or BSPlayer. All can be found on Google. Each will play .avi, .wma, .mpeg, .mpg, Xvid and DivX. Each has its own features and all are free. I prefer the Media Player Classic.

As far as codec packages, I would stay away from packaged codecs and download only what is necessary--DivX521XP2K, XviD-1.02-29082004-- although the package ffdshow may have all you will need.

I have a video card that supports HDMI, VGA, as well DVI outputs and am running it to my 1080/120hz TV. GT 440 - Newegg

What I am wondering is if there is a significant difference in picture quality amongst these three outputs, assuming max resolution is not an issue. Below are a few scenarios in which I was wondering about as well...

If you were to run a VGA cable with a DVI adapter the quality would still be that of the VGA cable correct?

Is there a reason that VGA seems to fit resolutions onto my screen better than HDMI?

Being a 1080p television would all of these connection types be able to run 1080p or just some?

A:Video out to TV related question. Quality and compatibility

yes, no yes

Running a VGA cable with DVI adapters wont give any significant difference in performance and you probably couldnt tell.

A "VGA" cable should support the same range of resolutions. i use " " because VGA isnt VGA as VGA's limit is 640x480 16bit. we are talking 1987 tech :P
modern VGA comes in XGA (1366x768), XGA+ (1440x900), SXGA+ (1680x1050), UXGA (1920x1200)and QXGA (2560x1600).
Your GPU has D-Sub which i think is around 2040x1500 as a limit (might be slightly out)

And yeah all connections will run fine presuming your tv has them all lol my tv is LED and doesnt have space for anything other than HDMI lol.
