Roxio Media Shuts Down

Q: Roxio Media Shuts Down

I was using Need4Vidio and after burning a handfull of .mpg files one day the burning tool would shut down and give an error message "DVD builder has encountered a problem and needs to close" followed by a message "DrWatson Postmortem Debugger has encountered a problem and needs to close". Scince then I bought Roxio Easy Media Creator 7 and burning worked great untill today and now I get right up to the point of selecting a file to burn (which are mpeg2video .mpg files) but it doesn't show up on my screen and then the same 2 error messages show up. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing but that didn't work. I'm running Windows XP.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello everyone,

This happened couple days ago when my laptop started to act like crazy.. It used to freeze but two days ago it shuts down when I'm in the middle of doing something like Photoshop.. It even shut down while posting this thread once..
I thought it'd be a problem with the windows so I installed a fresh one but yet the problem is not solved..
And after some search on internet I came up with some apps like HDD and CPUID Monitor and here's a snapshot of the scan, and I wish someone of TECHSPOT family would help, that'll be so much appreciated..

Thank you.

In a strange turn of events, Nvidia elected to use Epic Games' media event (instead of its own last night) at the Game Developers Conference to reveal its newest flagship graphics card, the Titan X.

A:Nvidia crashes Epic Games' media event, announces Titan X graphics card

Soo... What are the chances of a 6GB "980Ti" variant? A bit like the 780Ti was to the Titan Black?
Because it would be better for games and a hell of a lot cheaper

If the rumor mill is to be believed, the price is going to be $1,349, Most people who buy this for gaming will have no use of the double precision floating point prowess of the card, and the few that would probably should have spent a couple hundred extra bucks to get a proper Quadro!

I burn a fair amount of DVR disks with games, movies, and personal files. The drive works just fine. I can play DVDs and it reads other disk. However, I have one disk that just isn't reading at all. I ran the Windows Fix it says the media is not readable. When I insert the disk it is loading in the My Computer screen, and then makes a load funny sound and just doesn't read the disk. When it finishes, the drive ejects when you click on it and says to insert a disk. I looked at ISObuster and it also picks up nothing. I'm not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure the disk was readable at one time. The disk doesn't appear to have any scratches, cracks, etc. Is there anything I can do to get the disk to be readable and work again? It has unreplaceable personal items. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Are you able to run Memtest for any length of period? Search for YUMI Multiboot. Download that, install it to a spare USB stick. Download memtest from yumi program. Boot off of stick and run memtest.

If not get a new motherboard/cpu off ebay.

Hi, not great with computers and had a look around at various forums and can't find a solution to my problem.

Essentially, whilst I can view the wireless network connections available, I cannot connect to the wireless connection I want to although all other computers at home can connect.

I think the issue is that I have no IP address on this computer (using Windows XP that has just been reinstalled). The result of ipconfig/release is:
No operation can be performed on Wireless Network Connection 2 while it has its media disconnected.

Sorry if further information is required, will provide whatever is needed. Thanks for any help!

A:Wireless Connection Media Disconnected (Windows XP)

First disconnect any wired connection and THEN attempt the wifi.
Something called DHCP is responsible to give the PC an IP address and also the DNS addresses (regardless of wired or wireless).

Hi,

my acer laptop 7520 shuts itself down after booting for few seconds.
It has Vista but dont think its a software / virus issue. As I got into BIOS / booting menu, it did not stay there. it shuts itself down.

I removed CD rom from laptop but had same result. It has two 1GB rams, I removed them one at a time but had same result. I then removed Harddisk and tried to make it boot from USB, but had same result. It was shutting down after 10 - 30 seconds. I see the Fan running when ever I start the laptop. Fan is very clean. no dust, dont think its a heating problem then.

please can some one advise what could be issue.
thanks.

I ran it on full battery but had same result. Then I removed battery and connected the power cable into laptop, same result. it shuts down after few seconds.

Sounds as though its over heating. You might try taking a can of air and blowing the vents out. If this has not helped. You may need to take it to a repair shop. and have the thermal pads replaced.

I've been working on computers for quite some time, but this has me completely perplexed. Just purchased a new case (NZXT Guardian), new EVGA 650TI vid card, 4 gigs of Corsair PC 6400 (Dual Channel), have two hard drives (500 gig Seagate w/Vista loaded/350 gig WD Caviar w/XP loaded), new 750 watt Corsair gaming psu, new Asus M2N32 SLI Deluxe board (wireless edition) and two new DVD-R/DVD-RW drives (HP drives) and AMD Athlon 6000 cpu. When I hit the start button, everything fires up for about 5-6 secs, and the system shuts off. I've tested the psu and it's fine. The memory works in another computer, and so do the h/d's and optical drives. I keep thinking there's something wrong with the board or chip. I've torn this build down and rebuilt so many times in the past three days my heads spinning. Thought I'd get some fresh perspective on this thing.

A:Works for 5-6 secs. then shuts off

Disconnect all drives, graphic card, and all but one memory module to see, if the system has the same symptoms. If the system seems to have the same symptoms, you can rule out those components as being a possible culprit.

The 750W PSU is a bit much for a 650Ti. I take it you were giving head-room for possible future SLI with larger graphics cards.

Hello. I have a self built computer. I play a game called War Thunder. I have a Radeon 2900 HD 4 gigs of RAM. A dual core processor at 2.66 Ghz. When I play my War Thunder game I will get in a flight and a half at the most, then the system shuts down and reboots. I have run a stress test and eveything but nothing shows up as a problem. Any ideas why this is happening?

Update: I ran OCCT stress test again but this time I ran it in fullscreen mode. As soon as the test starts in full screen mode the computer shuts down and restarts. I am guessing now that my PSU is going bad.

More likely the cooling system is insufficient and it's getting over heated. Run Eventvwr.msc and under system events, look at the events being created.

Afternoon Ladies & Gents!

I've spent a few hours on researching this topic. I can't seem to find what I'd need.

Currently I'm looking for a solution. I have about 50 franchised offices. We've played a TV in each of them. Is it possible to put a device in each office and have a "Server" type device to push content over a VPN to them? Also naturally display this on the TVs.

Any comments or points in a direction would be much, much, appreciated.

This will be my first computer build, so I am pretty much lost on where to start even. I want to build a PC that is set up for some mild gaming, I'm not talking about running huge games just something like garry's mod. I also want it to be something I can use for music and movies, something that I can hook up to surround sound and will have good sound and something that isnt going to be sluggish while I'm using it. I feel like it would be pretty simple, and I also have a custom built computer that my motherboard just went out on (I did not build it) so I will be able to use some parts from that. A:Networking: Media Sharing option turns off

Which version of Windows do you have? Make sure services for media share are enabled.
You might have to

press start key + r at the same time then type: services.msc

Computer Browser (started/manual)

DHCP Client (started/auto)
DNS Client (started/auto)

Function Discovery Resource Publication (started/auto)

start/auto/enable Homegroup Listener
start/auto/enable Homegroup Provider

Network Connections (started/manual)
Network List Service (started/manual)

Peer Name Resolution Protocol (started/manual)
Peer Networking Grouping (started/manual)
Peer Networking Identity Manager (started/manual)

SSDP Discovery (started/manual)

Also check on your system for software that is disabling sharing just our right like cleaners all-in-one does it because in theory suppose to reduce over head.

What Manufacturer and Model is the HDD? Also, on Windows 7, I believe the max partition size a computer can recognize is 1TB, so a suggestions is using Disk Management, seperate it into separate partitions of 750 gb or so, then just link them in a RAID configuration. This will allow Windows 7 to recognize it as a single drive, but will also allowed you to use the full 3TB of space.

Hello all.
My sister in laws Acer aspire 5750z-4885 was recently sat on and the screen is cracked. I was going to replace it for her but before I order a new screen I was wondering if it is even just the screen and not something else that I cannot repair. The laptop since getting the screen cracked will shut off after powering up in about 4-7 seconds or so I haven't used a stop watch lol.
I am wondering if perhaps there is a short or some other dmg caused by the screen being cracked that will not be remedied by replacing it. I have limited experience with cracked lappy screens. Thank you all so much for any and all replies I love this board and it has helped me many times in the past.

A:Acer aspire 5750z-4885 shuts off after 4 to 7 seconds

Yes, the cracked LCD screen can be the cause of the shutdown. Replacing the LCD panel is not that difficult for someone experienced, but for you it might be too much. You have to disassemble the top cover without breaking the plastic. The video cable might not be included with the new panel, so you would have to use the old cable. The cable connection to the panel is very delicate...

Hi,

I've had a problem with my speakers for a while. They will just stop working if I skip forward a few songs on iTunes. They also stop working when I skip forward in time in a song in iTunes, or when I skip forward in time on youtube videos.

Disabling and enabling the speakers in playback devices usually fixes this problem. Restarting my computer always fixes the problem.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

A:Virgin Media Super Hub and XP

Let's start with a wired connection and get that to be stable+reliable - - the wifi will then just fall into place.

WIRE a connection and disable the WiFi device

now get a command prompt and enter IPCONFIG /ALL >myTCP.txt

followup on this thread and attach the myTCP.txt file or copy/paste its content.

A:Laptop randomly shuts off

Wow, after spilling milk all the way through it I would consider myself fortunate that it still runs. To me it sounds like it is overheating. Laptops generally collect dust inside as they age and eventually develop cooling issues. I'm sure all the milk doesn't help. Have you tried opening it up and dusting it off with a can of compressed air?

I'm looking for a service that will 're-stream' a broadcast from a low-bandwidth server so that many more people can access it.

I figured I would use something like Windows Media Encoder 9 for the initial low-bandwidth server to a service with high-bandwidth so hundreds or thousands can access it.

Specifically, I am trying to rebroadcast an actual radio station onto the web. They have very slow connection or I'd point everyone directly.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I have a 6 year old Dell Dimension 4600 and an Acer AL2002w monitor that as of yesterday worked ok. Yesterday the monitor started flashing slow and would speed up than go black and not come back on. The monitor is working and is still powered on and I get a message that says "No DVI signal check VGA cable". If I power the computer off and than back on it works ok again for about 5 minutes and than starts flashing and goes black again.

Thanks,

A:Monitor flashes than shuts off

I would test the old monitor by borrowing/replacing it with a known working monitor. If the borrowed monitor did the same thing you'd have a good idea it was the video card. If it didn't then I'd guess the monitor was having power supply issues.

If you don't have a replacement monitor handy then I'd move the monitor to a known working computer and see if it did the same thing there. If it worked with the new computer then you'd know it was your video card. If it didn't work with the new computer then I'd guess that the monitors power supply was failing.

When I remove my memory cards from the USB device, the computer shuts down in an orderly manner, as if I'd selected Shut Down from the start menu! It does not happen every time, but it is a pissoff when I'm working on something to have the computer shut itself down just because I removed a device. Also, it doesn't happen every single time.

I've looked around for answers on this and haven't gotten anything other than a mention to update my usb drivers, but i cant seem to find an individual usb driver package at all.

What can I do about this? It's too much.

A:Computer shuts down when I remove USB device!

I assume those memory cards appear in Windows as removable media (with drive letters assigned?)

Use the Safely Remove Hardware icon in your notification tray to notify Windows to stop all I/O to those "logical drives" (the memory cards) before you remove them

The other day my PSU stopped working. I took a PSU from another computer and hooked it up and it worked fine, it just didn't fit inside my case. So I called a friend who had extra PSUs. He brought them down and we hooked them up. None of them seemed to work. When I hooked the PSU that didn't fit into the case back up, this time it didn't work. I looked on line and found a way to test the PSUs to make sure they were working by attaching a 18ga wire into the green and black 20 pin. Then I tested each component separately. The PSU stay on until I got to the ATX12V 4-pin power connector. That's when it shut off. Does this mean the motherboard is now fried? Help me please.

Did you try running "fixmbr" or "fixboot" from the repair console? Here's a M$ support page on that: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/927392

Are you saying that updating from Windows Update trashed the install?

Or, the BIOS in most new boards comes set to run as IDE. Have you tried setting the HDD to "AHCH". (I think that would be called directly, "SATA" in an AMD based board).

Plan "B" always involves trying to boot from a Linux CD to attempt to access and copy your data files, before a drastic measure like zeroing out the drive

I recently reformatted my os because of a virus. Now DVD's won't fill up the screen when I go into the full screen mode. There is a bar at the top and bottom of the screen. It also does it when streaming video from the internet in full screen mode.

A:Windows Media Player 11 won't play fullscreen

I understand that you recently killed off your hard drive and re-installed an O.S. But after the O.S. installation was complete, did we make sure that all the required video drivers were installed as well? Also seeing that you posted that this is about Windows Media Player, did you also go to a couple web sites and snooped around for some (codec) packages? Also you might want to go into Windows video setting, via the (display) or (display icon) in your (control panel) and see what your video settings are and maybe make the required adjustments.

Just a thought..................good luck in your quest for the answer!

A:Choppy audio and video with VLC media player

This is almost certainly because of missing codecs to playback your files.
The correct ones were probably installed and worked before you formatted the pc, but they were deleted in the format.
There are several packs of codecs you can try to solve this, but one I have used with good results is at;
http://www.mediacodec.org/download/

also this one, but note it is 147MB to download;

Common causes for this would be overheating or PSU failure.

Download and install this to keep an eye on your CPU temperature. Set it to display the temps in the task bar. If the temps are going over 80C you should check the fan is OK and that the heatsink is clean, also replace the thermal paste on the CPU.

A:SCSI for a media setup?

What are you actually asking for help with?

I don't see the point in 4 296MB hard disks - You might as well bin them! They might sound good, but anything that old, with that capacity is going to be slower than a brand new SATA2/3 hard disk. The speed of new disks will come from the bandwidth of the interface, which will be severely reduced on anything as old as the 296MB hard disk.

A mechanical hard disk with 7,200RPM spindle speed in a homeserver is more than adequate alongside gigabit ethernet at running HD with bandwidth to spare. 10K disks, or SSDs are totally unneeded, and would be pointless in your case anyway, as your external hard disks are going to be throttled by the USB connections they're connecting to the computer with, not the speed of the network (assuming gigabit).

A 1TB hard disk sits around 30-40 these days (probably the same money in Dollars), so no need to be looking elsewhere at faster stuff.

It appears that during a storm, my tower was damaged, affected, whatever. The tower will not turn on. However, the green light on the back below the electrical plug flashes when plugged up. I have tried making sure that the on off swich is making contact, and I plan to unplug all the electrical plugs that could have been affected and then seeing if it works, and plugging them back in one by one to see if one of them were damaged. I have been told that there is a fuse that could have been blown but I cannot find a mention of one nor placement of one on the mother board. Is there a fuse?

I have also made sure that the surge protector has been reset, the outlet is fine, etc.

Hello,
I am using a Sony Vaio loaded with Windows 7 to try to connect, via my home wireless, to an Iomega home server. My other old laptop (running XP) just shows the Iomega as a normal file server, with folders and all my documents etc. Unfortunately the Vaio is only showing the Iomega as a 'Media Device' (in the network and sharing center).. and because of this, it will only open windows media player when I try to access it. How can I stop the server from showing up as a media device?
As a start (and after reading another forum post), I disabled the media streaming service within windows media player network sharing service.. but this hasn't worked.

Thanks..

hp media center m1000 steady blinking light when plugged in. will not go on. anyone know what this means?

A:HP Media Center m1000 steady blinking light when plugged in

Sounds like a fault with the battery to me.

Have you tried removing the battery completely, and then running it off of the mains lead only?

EDIT: I see google lists this as a PC, so the above doesn't apply.

Usually on a PC the blinking light is an indication that the computer is in sleep mode. If it won't power up, try removing the power cable, and then hit the power button (to discharge electrics) and then reconnect, and try powering it up then.

today, i bought a new hard drive cause my first one is fulled, after putting it in, the computer wont boot up anymore (well, the fan, and case light went on for less than a second) notthing appeared on the screen or anything. no beep either.

here is what i got:
i7 920
asus p6t
g.skill 6gb
first hard drive : western digital black 640GB
new one: WD green 1.5TB
PSU: crosair 750W
GTX260

i think the 750W is more than enough for everything listed above, and it worked fine before i opened up my computer.

any help would be appreciated, and sorry for bad English,
if more information is needed, please let me know.

A:Computer booted up for 1 second, then shuts down

Some thoughts.

First off, Im no expert...

Just curious, although I doubt it would effect your problem... are you sure your jumpers are set correctly on the back of your Hdrives?

Also, I looked at photo'a of your motherboard and could not tell, but do you have a reboot or "MemOK" button on your motherboard? It would be in the upper right most likely. If you do, press and hold it down for 3 seconds then let go, your computer should boot properly.

Try checking your ram cards... I had issues a few years back where my computer wouldn't start up, someone told me my ram was bad, but fortunately I learned from someone else that your ram can build up gunk on the plugs over time, he said to take the cards out, and take a regular pencil eraser to them and gently rub the metallic part of the plug, be careful not to touch the actual chip... make sure the eraser is clean, you can do that by rubbing it on your pants... you should should see dark blackish stuff coming off. Plug them back in nice and snug and try it.

If none of the above work, check your video card, make sure everything is connected. You should also try taking the new Hdrive out and see if the computer starts up then. You might even try that first.

Im no expert as I said, but its worth a shot. I wish you luck. :grinthumb

Hi all,

I'm interested in setting up a media server in my house where I can access pictures, music and video from devices throughout my house wirelessly. I have an old pc that I'd like to use. I also might be able to obtain an HP Proliant ML350 for this. That machine has I believe six HD bays so I'm going to try to get that one. Either way, I'm looking for a good overview of what I'm going to need to do to accomplish this. Does anyone know of a good link or perhaps you've done it yourself and can help. I have a Linksys E3000 that has a USB port that you can plug a media storage device into but I'm wondering if a server or PC can be plugged into a USB drive.

Anyway, any help is appreciated.

Thanks

ok... well... this is a weird issue... my boss had this computer that had a bad power supply and wouldent put out video... before he asked for my help he removed the cmos battery... so... being his case is worthless... i had to remove the motherboard to replace it... after i got the new PSU installed and booted it up i had video but it sais i need to set the system time and date... but when i hit delete it wont go into setup... the keyboards good... CTRL+ALT+DEL works to reboot the machine... but after 15 seconds it sais it will shut off and it does... idk what it is... and i cant get into the bios.... i've tried clearing the cmos with the jumper but other than that i'm at a loss... btw this pc is a 6 month old custom build with an ASUS M4A78 PRO mainboard

A:Asus M4A78 Pro BIOS won't open... shuts off after 15 seconds

well... just because i think the bios needs to be reset... i'm just takeing the cmos battery out for 15 minutes... the jumper i cleared said CLRTC and it said jumpers 2+3 to clear and 1+2 normal... and i just figured since it was the only 3 pin configuration on the board that was it... that and its relatively close to the cmos battery... but idk... this is turning out to be a nightmare...

A:Windows XP Media Center won´t recognize reinstalled slave HDD

The computer was turned off when you removed the power cable yeah? Or was it running?

If all you have done is remove the power cable there should be no reason for it to stop working. The fact it has, suggests to me that you've either removed it with the computer powered up, or removed something else (like maybe the data lead isn't connected correctly).

The SATA data cable will work regardless of what port its plugged into. I've regularly moved mine around for whatever reason while working on the inside of my computer and its never been an issue.

I have an Hauppauge 1600 video tuner installed on an Intel 55HC motherboard, running Win 7-64. The 1600 tuner has an analog (TV) nipple and a Hi Def. (ATSC) nipple. The problem is that I'd like to be able to channel surf both spectra on a Charter cable connection like I can on a Samsung Hi-Def tuner. That is, I can only install the cables analog stations when I have the cable connected to the analog cable connection, and when I reconnect the cable to the ATSC nipple, I can only scan and find the hi-def cable channels. Is this a limitation of the tuner card, the media center software, or what?

I have just installed the above Graphics card into my custom made system, whenever I ty to play a game, the computer shuts down as if someone has pulled the plug, I have a 500W powersupply in it so wouldnt think it was that.

can anyone help me with this issue? should the power supply have a supplimental powersupply direct to the card or am i overlooking something simple?

thanks for your help

The card should only have a supplemental power connection if it has a connector for it. I don't think it does.

A:Computer shuts down in 3-4 seconds

which graphics card are you using and can you boot into Safe Mode? if so, uninstall your graphics drivers and then reinstall them. it's sounding like the graphics card or the drivers are to blame, which is a fairly common problem. Windows may not be booting because there is a problem with the driver and therefore needs to be reverted or updated. the card could also be overheating in which case you may need to let it cool off before trying to boot windows again.

I bought a new Dell laptop less than a year ago. Last night, it was just running while I was doing homework. I kept it open just to check a score of a game, so I wasn't using it. Then randomly, it shut off by itself. I turned it back on, got some error, then it shut down again. After a short amount of time, I was able to turn it back on and use it for a bit, then it shut down again. Overheating issue? What's the deal? Why would a computer overheat this soon? I'm just an average computer user. I don't use it for games or anything.

Any thoughts and advice appreciated.

A:New computer shuts down by itself

In my experience this is usually caused by overheating. Do you hear the fan running? Do you hear the fan get really loud at times?

Just as an experiment, lift the laptop so it's getting really good airflow and the vents are clear and see how long it's able to run.

Test with a different router... The Trend Micro is famous for doing this after about a year of use.

When intermittent failures start, the replacement of your Wireless or wired router is the best fix to keep you from jumping through too many hoops.

A:Acer Aspire hard drive failed... recovery media no longer available?

You can't legally used your Desktop's recovery media on your laptop (also because usually manufacturer's build such medium for a particular piece of hardware, with all drivers etc. pre-installed).

I think you can either choose to run Ubuntu or you can get one of those cheap OEM windows media from e.g. newegg. However, one draw back of this is, I believe you can't get any help from Microsoft directly, if you ever need it.

I bought a Genius Sound Maker Value 5.1 sound card with the CMI8738 chip. I acquired it only to be able to connect my old joysticks to the gameport because my motherboard doesn't have one.

I had XP x64, but I installed the 32-bit version (Professional SP3) after finding out that x64 didn't support the gameport.

I managed to set up the gameport and it's being recognized as 'Standard Game Port'. At first it had an IRQ conflict with the COM1 port, but I changed the COM1's configuration and fixed it.

But every joystick I plug in shows up as 'Not connected' even though they work fine on other computers.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the gameport and sound card drivers multiple times. What am I doing wrong?

I've had my ASUS G50V for about a year now, and I recently spilled a gracious amount of water right into the keyboard.

Any suggestions to what could possibly be the issue? Or is it un-fixable?

Any answers, helpful or not, would be amazing.

If the computer was out of warranty i would suggest adding a pci fan and mount it right above your video card. I would also update video drivers and make sure the inside of the computer is dust fee. If the computer is sitting on a carpet put it up on something to get it off the carpet for better airflow.

Hi
I have just purchased a WD mini media player to play my movies on my HD TV.
I have a WD My Book 2T Hard drive and all my movies are AVI.
After setting it all up i have picture but no sound on any movie.
What am i doing wrong or what can i do to fix the problem?
thanks

A:No sound with WD mini media player

There are two WD's the WDTV and the WDTV Live. The Live version of the box can convert DTS sound on the fly but since your using avi that shouldn't be the problem. You have two ways to get the video and sound to your set. One is the HDMI and you need to have the high speed cord to get the best quality (10,000gb/s I believe). The others are Composite (yellow) and component (red/green/blue) for video and then you have to use the (Red/White) audio to get the sound into your TV. There is another option and thats HDMI to DVI and since DVI is just video (like a monitor) you have to use the (Red/White) stereo connectors to get audio to the tv.

It will also boot up again, but it says there is a boot disk error, and it won't find my hard drive until I swap the sata port. I thought it was a heat issue, I do have fans to cool it. I thought it might be my graphics card, so I purchased a new one (which I wanted to do), I even changed my power supply to a bigger wattage. I am tempted of getting a motherboard which I don't want to do it's my last resort. Is it a virus or malware? Or do I have to replace the motherboard? Or is it something else?

I understand how to access the recovery partition in vista, and windows 7. However I have stumbled across a compaq laptop and a gateway laptop that I had attempted to put windows 7 on and get them functioning and sold. But as it turns out, there were'nt win7 drivers for the audio on one, and no win7 graphics driver available on the other. Having no discs for either of these presents a problem with getting them back to the original setup. There is a seperate partition in each laptop, one that says "presario_RP" and the other "Gateway_RP". I assume the RP is recovery partition, but I have no clue how to access and start either of these. Anyone know?

After a while it slowly started performing poorly. At first it couldn't write an audio cd properly and after a while it couldn't read most of the dvds. I tried unistalling drivers and rebooting. System restored the drivers but it didn't work. I ran microsoft fix it center, didn't do the trick either. Are there any suggestions. I 'd appreciate any help.
Thanx in advance

Using a 550watt Antec Neo HE550, system built 5 years ago and PC will shut down at random times, although when it does start to just turn off, it will do it sometimes over and over and other times I can run the machine all day with no problems, I believe it is the PSU but not sure.

OS Linux Ubuntu

A:Is my PSU going bad? PC shuts down randomly

If I need to get another one, which one - I don't want to spend over 40-50 dollars, I know it is cheap range but with all this KVM stuff, it is getting expensive. Like I said, 5 year old, was the best you could buy at the time and the machine runs good but I wanna do a whole new system soon so this is just to keep it going.

I have a Toshiba satellite M65-S821, 9 moths ago I added an extra 1GB of DDR RAM, 2 month later the laptop started to turn off when using software like Corel draw or photoshot with big files, but that was not something regular. In the last month this problem was growing and now my computer turns off after max 3 minutes.

I have removed the DDR and swithced places with the original one (all the possible combinations) with and without the new RAM , Only with the new RAM etc.

I have succeded to format the main HDD partition and tried to flash the BIOS with a update but I cannot finish this operation because the laptop turns off after max 3 min.

Did annyone had the same problem?

Thanks , in advance.

A:My Toshiba Satellite shuts down after few minutes?

Is the laptop overheating? Have you tried removing the battery and running only off the AC adapter? Does the laptop still shut off? This may be caused by a failing motherboard

A:Computer shuts down when playing games, please help.

It probably is your psu. It likely doesn't have enough 12v amperage, as many of the thermaltake 480w versions only have 18a, and for sli, you should have at least 26a.
A nice ocz, seasonic, enermax or antec 500w psu(sli ready) should be a good fix.

Hi,

I have been using a Eminent Network Media Tank with a built-in WD 1TB hard drive that is FAT32 for some time now. As I have some new content I want to add to it I connected it to my notebook. I installed the drivers from the Eminent CD to make windows recognize the drive (a program called IFS drives was installed into the configuration screen). In the my computer screen I can now see the drive with the disk letter I appointed to it (Z) but when I try to open the drive windows says: "Dirve Z is not formatted, do you want to format the drive now?". Evidently I don't want to format the drive, I just want to access it and add new data. Does anyone know why windows says this and (more importantly) how I can achieve my goal without formatting?

Thanks in advance!

You left out a couple pieces of information... the power supply specs and what the actual noise sounds like
