Microsoft Lifecam storage location - setting?

Q: Microsoft Lifecam storage location - setting?

I am running a Microsoft Lifecam in a Dell Zino with Windows 7 Home Professional. The lifecam is supposed to store its videos and such in User>Pictures>Lifecam. Instead, this one stores them in Username>Food and Cooking>Pictures>Lifecam. I have no idea why it dug up that Food folder, but I would like to change the default storage. I have searched for a way but have not found it.

It's not a fatal problem... just annoying. Thanks for help.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently purchased a microsoft lifecam 3000 so that I can video chat with my friends.

However, one problem is that the sound does not work when I try to use it on AIM. The sound works on other applications such as facebook, etc, but the sound does not work on AIM or meebo.

If anyone can help, that will be great.

Aim version: 6.8.12.4

Thanks

Why doesn't my microsoft lifecam work with windows 7? Is there a simple way to fix this problem?

A:Windows 7/Microsoft Lifecam

We would need the model number to tell you a reason to why it is not working, and if there is a fix.. If there is no supported driver for windows7, you may need to attempt to use a Windows Vista driver and run it in compatibility mode.

If these options are not possible, you may have to purchase a new one.

Please reply back with the model of the webcam.

Hi Everyone,

I know there are several other threads on this topic already but I have a unique problem. I can install LifeCam software fine sometimes but the driver never installs for the camera. The few times I get the LifeCam installed, it always just showed up as no camera connected. When I try to use Device Manager to "Update driver software", no matter what I try, the last screen always say, "Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device." Then several lines down it says, " The extended attributes are inconsistent." Has anyone else discovered this problem? I would really appreciate your help! Thanks!

Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000, incompatible with Windows 7 RC build, and yet it worked fine with build 7000? This is perplexing. Anybody with a solution?

A:Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000

Try going into the system settings and update the driver and be sure to let it search online. Initially there was no updated driver but there is now a new one that it will update and make it work correctly again.

Recently, after random computer crashes ( blue screen or not) and after reboot, the found new hardware utility starts. It finds "new hardware"the Lifecam but when I try to install it again I can't find the drivers.
I have to uninstalll the drivers and then reinstall the camera drivers through the downloaded utility.
I don't understand why the camera congfiguration is disappearing each time and worst I can't find the location of the lifecam drivers. Where are they and why is this happening?
I'd appreciate any help.

Hi whitepanda!
As you can see it's a driver problem, first of all go to Device Manager (right click Computer icon, select Mange, select Device Manager) and check for ! mark (yellow color) if it's there click on it and remove driver, and try to install the driver again, is it just driver or the whole application?

Microsoft Lifecam 5000 Problem - I have read a lot of posts on the microsoft website when I googled the problem and I tried most of it. Nothing worked.

I have reinstalled drivers, software, tried different usb slots, RR computer countless times.

Basically - the computer knows that its connected and can see it - but then it wont work. For example - skype recognises that its a LifeCam 5000 and the light on the cam turns on for a bit, but no picture. It has worked before on Skype but now it won't for some reason.

The LifeCam software says that there is no webcam connected to the computer, which is also weird if skype can see that it is connected. So I am stuck.

Anyone have any idea's please!!

Cheers

I've used this camera on a different computer, and it has worked perfect for hours at a time. I've removed software, re-installed many times.
everytime i use this camera with Skype on my computer it will lose sound on the other end (mine always works fine) and they complain of static, or it will crash my computer. 9/10 times i use Skype there will be small horizontal lines across the screen.... just before it starts to lose the connection. No Skype help menus are able to fix this problem.

Please help...

What OS are you running?
Which of the steps in the KB article the error message referred you to have you tried?

Most likely just need to download an updated driver from the download center, the link is in Step 2 under Method 1.

I am running MicroSoft Windows XP, Service Pack 3, using Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac, Build 7.0.15107, on a MacBook (2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, OS X 10.6.8). I have a Microsoft LifeCam HD 6000 connected through a USB hub that I use for Skype. Since I upgraded Parallels Desktop the other day, the webcam is no longer recognized by the computer. I know I could fix the problem by disconnecting and reconnecting the camera. But this is a remote computer which I control with LogMeIn, and that is not an option. Is there any way I can 'trick' the computer (Windows or Mac OS) into thinking I have done that? If you have any ideas or need more info, please be as specific as you can. I don't know much about computers. Thank you.

A:[SOLVED] Microsoft Lifecam HD 6000 not seen

Does the Hub have it's own power adapter? (this would increase the power provided by the USB port to the devices plugged into the hub) When you use a USB hub, it diminishes the power from the USB port. Devices that require more power like HDD's Cameras etc as a opposed to keyboards or mice, may not get recognized by the computer. Unless the Hub is self powered.
The solution is to plug the USB device directly into the computer.
You can go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager are there any devices with yellow flags? Or under Universal Serial Bus Controllers is there an Unknown Device? If so, right click it and Uninstall it. Now right click any device and choose Scan For Hardware Changes, this should recognize the device and reinstall it. If it comes back with a yellow flag or as an Unknown Device, then it needs to be plugged into the computer directly and not through a hub.

A:un-installing microsoft lifecam vx-3000

Maybe I should not post this for fear it will get you into trouble; but, here goes anyway. First off, I have done this little procedure, myself, many times with success; but, this information, misused, can destroy an OS.

The problem with the developer-furnished uninstalls is that they are almost always incomplete so I find myself frequently editing the Windows Registry (in this case, deleting lines) to get rid of annoying remnants like the one you describe.

First, I would create a complete drive image of the partition containing my operating system. Then, I would start Regedit and do a search for every line containing "lifecam" (sans quotes). I would delete every line I found containing that text string and every line I accidentally found as a result of that search that is related to lifecam.

There you have it. If you try this, please do the imaging part first so you don't wind up with just four toes.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate - 64bit version.
My video camera is Microsfot VX-7000.
My Lifecam software is Windows 7 64bit compatible, release 3.0

My Lifecam software installed without problems but when I double-click on the LifeCam software, I get an BLANK screen with a message that states "no camera connected".

However, when I run/use Skype (latest version 4.1.0.179), the camera works without problems, which confirms that the camera is OKAY.

I have checked Microsoft Support and found article KB933311 titled "No camera connected" error message, and the video preview is blank when you start the LifeCam software: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933311

but none of those issues effect me, nor did it solve anything.

So, what is happening? Any ideas?

Hi Guys, I'm new in here. I like this forum and that was the only forum I found many solution to my problem.

The problem is simples but I don't know if is simple to resolve.

I've download the last Driver for Microsoft LifeCam 3.0 and installed. Because I know that the 3.0 version is compatible with Windows 7 x86 and x64.

No problem, the driver was installed with success but when I start the "Microsoft Life Cam" software I receive the message:

"Initialization error..."

And the weird is normal in "Device Manager":

I've just tested my Webcam in other PC running Windows 7 Ultimate x86 and work perfectly.

I guess the problem is happennig because I'm running a x64 version.

Well, somebody have any suggestion?

Thanks a lot.

Matiello

A:Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 / Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Well, I'd test that x64 hypothesis if I could on another computer. It doesn't really sound right to me.

Another thing could be there was a hiccup in installing the drivers and you need to reinstall them. Uninstall the old driver completely and reinstall them.

There could be a potential hardware compatibility issue somewhere down the line.

Another thing you could do if you have the time is make a spare partition and install the x86 version on it and try the camera there and see if you still have issues, if so, then that makes it lean towards a hardware incompatibility issue.

A:Microsoft LifeCam Cinema not installing correctly

I tried to install this again. Uninstalled, reinstalled and again it installed but still do not have the proper EXE icon. When I clik on the Cinema life cam icon in the control "devices and printers," and the software pops up but when i clik on the start Lifecam button, an error pops up saying that it cannot find "lifecam.exe"/ Checking in the correct program directory there is no "lifecam.exe." There are two exe's, with same Lifecam icon, but neither of them start the program. lifecamd2.exe and lifetray.exe

Mystified. Tried a couple web cam apps and neither have any functionalty and the image is very poor and dark.

Having another bite at this of libraries location storage Moving after failing miserably first time around I think I may have been confused about the distinction between special folders and libraries in Windows In fact I may still be I'm finding this very difficult to get my head around What I would like to do is change the storage location of the files I save in the documents pictures music and video libraries I think this may be a different thing to moving the actual location of the library folder itself Which I do not want to do But I may still be hopelessly confused To reiterate I want to store my own files on a separate partition to the operating system by saving them in the libraries folders but changing the actual storage location of those library folders to D Files or some such rather then the default of C users username In XP I just used to right click My Documents and change location to D and viola that's where XP Moving storage location of libraries stored all of my files when I saved them to My Documents Simple I am still having trouble with this on Windows and somehow managed to move a load of system folders or the shortcuts to those folders - not sure which to my desktop I have restored the defaults by using system restore Whilst am dual booting this separating operating system and my own files been a boon in that I can access all my files whether I am running XP main system or Windows I think this may not have been possible if I had all my files stored on the C drive with the XP system as these folders seem to be locked when dual booting to Windows I hope this makes some sort of sense to someone Thanks in advance

A:Moving storage location of libraries

ok, luckily this is simple...

right click on the My Music folder in the c:\users\*user name* folder - you should see a location tab >> move >> anywhere you like

repeat with other folders...

it's a bit of a hairy job trying to move the whole user folder - a lot easier just to move the individual music/videos/pictures subfolders etc

also be aware that in xp, 'my documents' contained the other folders - in 7, documents is a separate folder.

hope this helps!

I am preparing my system for SSD migration, my hdd is getting very grindy and slow even simply browsing, eg. moving to different parts of a youtube video pauses for a second with hdd activity.

So I moved the IE temp folder to a ram disk I made (this also save some writes on my new ssd when I migrate) and I thought great job done as IE snappy.

However I also see my cookies in that folder which will be gone when I reboot, not good. I have some permanent cookies which stop me needing to login to sites again and again.

So it seems I either need to keep IE temp files on permanent storage, or be willing to lose my cookies whenever I reboot.

Can the cookies be put in a seperate folder away from the temp cache files?

A:IE8 download location setting?

I use IE9, but IE8 may be the same in that respect:

Make sure the 'Menu bar' is visible.

Click "Tools >> View downloads"

In the Downloads window, click "Options" (bottom left).

Browse to the location you wish it use for downloads.

Click "Select Folder"

Click "OK".

Beware if you use a cleanup tool like "Ccleaner" though because that includes an option to "Delete Last Download Location" so make sure you leave that option deselected.

I have a friend who is asking me for some help with her computer. It's a fairly basic issue but I'm afraid I don't know the answer so I thought I'd try here.

Some of her programs are saving to OneDrive, otherwise known as The Cloud. She strongly prefers to save to her own computer. I'm not sure which program(s) are doing the saving; I think she might have said that Excel was one of them but I could be wrong and there may be others.

Is there any setting in Windows 10 that would effectively tell *all* programs to save to the hard drive by default? (That should be a *reversible* option, of course, in case she ever changes her mind.) Or even a setting to not show OneDrive as one of the options?

This depends on your RAID array and it's capabilities. I was able to do it with my RAID cards (Highpoint) - but you'll have to check the documentation/FAQ's for your RAID controller.

FWIW - I switched RAID controllers when I installed the 7 RTM - and lost everything off my RAID 5 array (luckily I thought this might happen, so I backed everything up).

Somehow, I have managed to change my system font from a proportional font (Tahoma, I believe) to a fixed-width font (Courier New, I believe). By system font, I mean the font you see for system messages; in the windows that comes up when you hit ctrl-alt-del; or when you log in (the font in which both username and text on the logon window is displayed). I'm sure I did this messing with something in the registry (which I usually can do without incident, but not this time). Does anyone know where the font settings are that control the text of which I speak? This font setting is NOT affected by anything you do in "Display Properties". Thanks

Running Windows 8.1

I have neither a real or virtual XBox account, but every time I start Minesweeper it wants me to log into one. I'm tired of that and the slow load time of the game. I want to remove the program from my machine. When I trace it down - from the name in properties - it looks as if it consists of two shortcuts and no .exe file:

AppZvpebfbsgZvafjrrce_8jrxo3q8oojr and
AppZvpebfbsgFbvygnverPbyrpgvba_8jrxo3q8oojr (I think I typed those correctly, couldn't cut & paste)

in C:\Users\Name\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned\StartMen

Is removing those two shortcuts enough to remove the program files from my machine? I assume that it has files on the computer since the Details tab of properties says it is available offline.

Thanks

The proper way is to uninstall it. This is likely an App from the Microsoft Store so it should be on your Start screen and you can uninstall it by right clicking on it.

I created a Storage pool with the following setup. Three 3TB drives with parity all in an external enclosure with eSata and USB 2/3 ports. It was connected via USB when created and had production data loaded and tested without any issues.
After a few days of use I decided to see what happened when I tried to access it via the eSata port. No luck, due to a driver on the eSata card issue with Win 8. So I powered all back down and plugged back in via USB. At this point the Storage pool went
into the state as per the screenshot below. Any suggestions to either fix the issue and/or retrieve the data that is in the volume?

Ok here is a weird issue. Microsoft reader was working, then after a reboot of the computer it wasn't working. I ran sfc /scannow it fixed corruption issues, I rebooted the computer and still Microsoft reader did not work. I ran the sfc /scannow again, and
it passed. So I ran Get-AppXPackage -Name Microsoft.Reader and it shows the InstallLocation is blank. I went to the WindowsApps directory and the program is there. Doing the Add-AppXPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppxManifest.xml"
fails because it cannot find reader on the C root directory. So how can this be fixed?

A:Help setting up Microsoft Word

You have given confusing details.
You said "25 lines of text on a full page (plus room for an extra line - page number) at the top"
Then you said "A 1 inch margin around the page"
Then "need to place my title 5 inches down the printed page"

Where are the 25 lines? above, below or in the midst of the title?
Is the 26th line (where you want your page count) somewhere in the 1" margin?
And you said you want a 1" margin around the page... is that on all 4 margins, and are you thinking that margins are only on the left and right?

As for getting 25 lines on a page, that is a simple matter of increasing the line height (in points) to a number where you get exactly the number of lines you need on a page. The font size will affect the line height, but just find a comfortable font and font size, and then adjust the line height to get what you want.

The title and page number are typically placed in the Header or the Footer of the page, but from your description, I an not sure what you want. You can have Word automatically number the pages, and even include the total page count, and even have the name of the file automatically entered.

As for the other details, it really would be easier to create the page and format for you, than to try and go through the many steps needed for you to do it.

I am sure that many people here would be glad to do so, for you, and even a few may want to attempt to teach you, but I would rather just create it for you, if you'd just clarify the conflicts in my mind.

I'll place an attempt here, and you can look it over. I believe you may be asking for a 5", or thereabouts, header. But I am not really sure.

Does anyone have any idea on how to set a password at microsoft excel. Suppose a document contains information that can be viewed by anyone, but should be modified only by a limited number of users. In this case, the author requires a password to modify. A user who does not know the password can view the document and make changes, but cannot save these changes to the document. However, you can get around this type of protection by using the "Save As" command and saving the document under another name. The password to modify will be reset in the newly-saved document.

Appreciate if anyone have an idea on how to set that as my boss ask me to set a password for some of the document in my office.
