Preferred Solution: MP4 Encoding

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Don't know of any but you might try either of these sites :

http://www.mpegx.com (Audio and Video.)

http://www.audiotools.co.uk

Both offer a wide range of Free and Share utilities within these fields.

I was looking for a wireless speaker to place in the lobby in a phone shop so that people who buy phones there can test wireless audio streaming.

I did my some research but it seems most speakers lag and have poor audio quality. I almost gave up on this project when I found out that auld good creative labs came up with something that might just work for my client. Has anyone use this or any other wireless speaker with apt-X encoding? Are they as good as the product specs claim?

A:Wireless speakers with apt-X encoding - any good?

the thing i hate about bluetooth speakers are they require pairing, which is a hassle if you are playing with multiple phones. sound quality is acceptable for me though, there will be some resolution loss but it's fine since i don't expect them much.

Ok i am looking for a good budget video encoding processor. AMD or Intel. And i need some suggestions. My price is max somewhere around 220$ give or take.
I do alot of video encoding and i need a processor that can get the job done fast.

Any suggestions would be great! thanks for your help!

Oh and one other thing.....Will a AM2 or AM2+ CPU cooler work on a AM3 CPU or vice versa?

A:Good Video Encoding Processor

The Phenom II X4 940 is the best choice IMO.

And yes, I think AM2\AM2+ coolers will work on an AM3 CPU. Not sure, but since the slots are physically identical (aside from having a different number of pins), any AM2 cooler should work.

I just bought a new Flash Drive, and i found a problem. I copy and paste all my files from my old usb. When i try to open the word documents that i saved, it opens and then it says That the file need converting (encoding), but after i encode it, it just come out blocky not letters. Why is this happening? When i try to open it in my other USB it works...

HELP
Thanks

A:Flash Drive - Word Documents become corrupted need encoding!

Did you remove the new USB drive properly after copying the files? Using the "safely remove hardware" feature? If you unplug the drive while copying files or somethimes even when the copy dialog has closed, you will corrupt data.

Are you using the same computer for opening the files from your old and the new USB drive?

Hey I think I might have talked about encoding problems Audio masse en this problem before But Audio encoding problems en masse it is needed anew I can t convert my WAVs into ANYTHING At the basic level I try to use Winamp s disk writer I set the options and go This is actually the only thing that works However the resulting MP is either playing to fast or to Audio encoding problems en masse slow It doesn t encode right or something Audio encoding problems en masse So next I try to use LAME in Audacity exports bit files no matter what options I set If not a bit file it throws an error instead Next I try to download an encoding program found this one called quot BonkEnc quot which is freeware and looked pretty nice It supports after install OGG MP FAAC and FLAC NONE work not even it s native WAV or BONK encode Either I get an obscure error a tiny file that doesn t even squeek when played or it goes quot through quot the process but creates no file and gives no error None of it s methods encoded my WAV I also download the stand-alone FLAC encoder no beans I don t understand why no program is able to encode my WAVs it s really upsettings For reference my source file is a WAV created with bit rate kbps bit mono kHz PCM I guess the logical question is is there something wrong with the original bitrates or quality preventing converters from working right Should I change bit rate or kHz I do want to record at high quality obviously So I don t want to lower the quality of my WAVs to much Any ideas Thanks nbsp

I have a 6800go in my laptop, and I'd like to know what steps to take to ensure that hardware mpeg encoding is in action...I'm using TMPGEnc...according to nVidia's site, the Go series 6 does support hardware mpeg encoding...etc.. in fact everything that the desktop series supports, so I'd like to get the best out of it if possible.
thanks for reading.

A:How To Enable Hardware MPEG Encoding on 6800Go

It doesn't make any difference if all of your hardware devices supported one thing or another, if software doesn't take advantage of it.

I think only nVIDIA's own applications like ForceWare Multimedia Application use such features. But even that says it's not available yet.

My PC keeps rebooting when I do video encoding, watch movies and etc. I am using a P4 3.2 800FSB CPU and I have recently installed the Thermal Take Silent Tower CPU cooler. I am using two 80mm 21db Fans in the front and back of the case and Corsair TWINX DDR3200 dual channel memory and my CPU temp is around 40 - 50.

Can someone please give me some advice on how I can stop the PC from rebooting and why it keeps rebooting during encoding and using certain applications/softwares. Can someone also tell me what the CPU tempreture should be normally for a 3.2 and should the TT Silent Tower CPU cooler make A difference on the tempreture and performance.

A:PC reboots when encoding or watching movies

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

It sounds to me that you have some sort of driver problem, possibly graphics card.

First thing to do is make sure that you have all the latest drivers.

In order to know why you system is rebooting, right click my computer and select properties, then the advanced tab then under startup and recovery click settings, and uncheck the box that says automatically restart.

Also set the write debugging information to none.

Now instead of your system rebooting, you should receive an error message telling you why the system has crashed.

Pay particular attention to any drivers identified in the stop message.

Regards Howard

Hey guys,
Well I've begun video encoding and heavy use of my new TDK 8x DVD+-RW Drive...however I am finding out quickly, even with 768mb of DDR my 1800+ is slow as anything when it comes to video encoding, especially when its an hour and a half of basketball games..It takes many many hours to encode..So if you could all help me in choosing a new mobo and processor, I'd really appreciate it

I've heard P4's are better for video encoding...so AMD or Intel, I'm not biased...

I'd like to stay sub $300 if possible:grinthumb

Current Specs:
Athlon XP 1800+
K7S5A Mobo
786mb PC2700(running at PC2100 speeds)
100GB WD SE HDD
Ati AIW Radeon 9600
SB Audigy Gamer
400w Antec PSU
TDK 8x DVD-+RW
XP Home

A:New Processor for Video encoding....

I personally prefer the AMD 64 platform, however according to Anandtech, the P4's got the encoding crown.

And according to Pricewatch.com, to stay under your $300 limit would probably stick you with a P4 3.2 800mhz and any supporting mobo thats around $115, like the ASUS P4P800

Hey guys,

I've been shopping around for a decent video editing program that I can use in OSX as a one-stop-shop to merge & encode multiple clips recorded with Fraps. I've tried several different applications, but, most of the time, either the product is too expensive (>$100) or doesn't support the .avi extension on OSX. Ideally, I'm looking for something under $50 that will enable me to merge around 16 raw .avi clips into a single encoded video about 4 to 5 hours in length. Over the past month I've been using iSkysoft's Video Converter for Mac and Deluxe Media Converter trials. They work well enough, but they have a tendency to hang/crash on me following large tasks, so I've decided to hold off on purchasing a licence for a little while and, instead, tap you guys for a little information first.

Thanks for the help!

Have you tried View->Encoding->Auto-Select?

If you don't have such an option then install it. It is a tick box in IE installer I think.

I have some AVI Xvid videos that I'm trying to assemble into a DVD. But the finalized video doesn't work properly. The video feed is missing.

I'm using version 6.0c.
Everything seems to work during the "Preview" part of the program. Then I used the Create ISO image option so I can test it before burning. It seems to load fine at first on PowerDVD, but if I select a video to play - I only get the audio. The entire screen remains blank. I then tried a DVD image disc I made months ago with the same program - it seems to run just fine.

Does anyone have a clue to what can be causing all this?
I?ve also tried re-installing Sonic MyDVD entirely.

I've had a similar problem. When I inserted a CD with "copy control technology", it insisted I updated some softwar on the OS in order to play the CD.

I just loaded up DBPowerAmp & ripped it. The songs play fine (no skipping, etc.).

I taped both of my sisters' graduating ceremonies in the last 2 months and I still have a previous vacation to encode as well. All from a Sony MiniDV Camera, what's the best software I can use to get the BEST resolution & quality? I know codecs are probably required as well.

I'm not worried how much the software will cost either, miniDV tapes seems to be expensive around here, I rather pay enough for an encoding software and be able to re-use the tapes.

I was using Windows Movie Maker before that came with Windows and damn, that's horrible stuff.

A:Need a good encoding program ^^

Do you want to just encode the video, or do you want to make transitions, effects, etc.?

VirtualDub is a free and great utility for the first variant, but I don't know if it supports DV format (guess not). Didn't you get some software with your camera?

Edit: VirtualDub does support capturing video from camera's so you can use it. For the codec, I suggest xVid (just configure it well)

Hello!
A friend's pc was infected by a Encrypting Virus.
He formated the system disc and made a new Win7 install as he noticed it.
Then he saw that all the JPG, DOC, XLS, PDF, AVI, ZIP, MP4,... files had a new change date and they won't open any more!
The extern hard disc was plugged in and so the copies are encoded too!

With the Anti-CryptorBit Tool some JPG's are restored a bit but no one complete.

I have found some originals which are not encoded (jpg and mp4) for compareing but I can't load them up cause the files are larger then 512kb.

Can anyone help me?

Hello All:
The titles of a couple of my files (in a USB key) have been altered by the system. These titles are now not readable (I can't open them) because they are full of special characters, as well as very long. I am also not able to copy them to another location or change the names.
I am using Windows 10 and most of these files are Outlook pst or ost files. Is there any way I could modify the names in Windows 10?

I hate Windows feature that enforces installing localized software - e.g. I live in Poland so if I set my location as "Poland" many apps will be installed with Polish interface, which I don't want to.

Therefore I've installed my OS in en-US version and left US as my location. Now it's all nice in terms of apps interface, as it's always English. Most programs cause no problems with one exception - Notepad...

Whenever I open a txt file with Polish national characters, I see "bushes" instead of them. I tried to open them as UFT-8 encoded, but it hasn't helped. I've changed Notepad default font into CE encoding - no effect.

I tend to believe the default Notepad encoding is set to westerns somewhere, but I can't figure where to look for the appropriate setting - can anyone advise me on how to change it, so txt files displayed correctly?

I have two 900GB 15k RPM 2.5" drives in raid zero in my system. Using PERC 600 hardware controller. I use the system constantly for encoding and wondering if I need to switch to SSD for the hard drives. On my system when looking at the disk stats for the encoding process, there is always a response time of 52 or higher. Sometimes goes up to 100+. I've heard anything over 20 is bad. From a disk queue length perspective those drives (D: drive) sit around 0 - .20 during encoding. Thoughts? Is it working OK? Is there something I can do to boost performance? Note the CPU's (24 cores) are running about 53 percent utilization.

Thanks.

A while back I upgraded my computer and only recently discovered that I've got problems with encoding in x format and it's variants in ALL methods of video conversion Attempting my is broken computer h264 across completely entire Encoding to convert ANY format to a h -encoded format results in whatever program I'm using for conversion crashing or halting conversion after just a few seconds be it Any Video Converter Handbrake or VLC Media Player's convert save feature However conversion is slightly possible as if a video is converted quickly e g by lowering the output's resolution then the video can play normally however it has very heavy artefacts While I can use Sony Vegas to simply import a video and then render it in a format that uses h264 Encoding is completely broken across my entire computer a h codec without it crashing the end result still has heavy artefacts I know the problem isn't to do with my files or any kind of media player as I have I have h -encoded videos that I've downloaded and saved before I upgraded and they play perfectly fine without any artefacting or problems I'm using both Windows and Windows both on separate SSDs and the exact same problem persists across both OS's I've also tried fully updating both of them to no avail however it did fix a small AVI problem Win had with Vegas The problem is unlikely to do with any additional codec packs I may have stupidly installed in the past as the problem persisted even when I did a clean install of Windows and attempted conversion the problem was exactly the same The only thing I've really noticed is that my CPU fans spin faster when it tries to convert and then go back to normal when it fails I'm using an old Cooler Master Hyper TX Evo with an additional Arctic F attached Even though it's not a great fan it still works fine for gaming I've also attached an example of what happens when I quot successfully quot convert a video into h It's just a snippet of old Dark Souls footage I was using for sound effects a long time ago Specs Asus Maximus VIII Hero Motherboard Corsair gb DDR Mhz RAM Intel i - k CPU has not yet been OC'd MSI Gtx ti Corsair RM i PSU Windows Windows And for the record I'm looking for a solution not an alternative Thanks

Hey guys!

This is my first post and I really need help for my desktop.

My goal is to do some Crysis live commentary and the computer keeps randomly crashing when playing the game (or any other game) and consistently crashing when encoding the video (crashed with 2 different programs).

System info:

Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1
Microsoft Security Essential
CPU: Phenom II X4 955
RAM: F3-12800CL9D-8GBXL
PSU: OCZ500SXS2
GPU: 2 x AX5770 1GBD5-H (Crossfire)

Symptoms:

- Randomly BSOD or Hangs when playing Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Starcraft 2
- Consistently BSOD or Hangs when encoding videos with PowerDirector 10 and Adobe Premiere 10

Tests or thing I've tried:

- Prime95: 1 error (not pro enough to understand the rest)
- AMD Overdrive: crashing sometimes on stability test
- Temperatures of CPU and GPU are ok.
- Tried using single GPU, nothing changed.

Thank you very much for your pro support guys!

I've recently started having a problem whenever I try to encode or convert video files. Any file that ends up being over about 30mb in size while being encoded will cause my computer to throw up the BSOD. When I get back onto my desktop I'm told that the problem is with the nforce SATA drivers and that I should download the newest drivers. Thing is, I've done that. I've done some searching around and found that this isn't an uncommon problem, but haven't found any sort of answer that helps me out. I would appreciate any suggestion from anyone. I leave it to you and your vast computer knowledge.

I have a game that I purchased online a few years ago and Installed it on my PC. The PC crashed and when I went to re-install it, it wouldn't let me because the download ID was different. I've tried to get a hold of the original company and they sold out and the new owner can't help me. I still have the email that they sent me that gives me the ID and registration number. I beleive that the download ID is a binary entry in the registry. Could anyone help me figure out if I can take my ID and push it to the registry?

There is disable, track 1, track 2 options.

track 1 just has music, track 2 has music and person's

When I make a DVD of it and play it on DVD player
it always play on track 1 which just has music.

I am using DVD Flick program to make the DVD video,

Is there a way to make/encode the dvd with audio so I just plays

Because as it turns out now. There is just music on the video when it plays

I am suddenly finding it takes longer to encode files to dvd video files with DVD flick.
It use to be 4 hours to encode now it about 6 hours or up to 9 hours. Using video file of
similar size like avi files, time duration and quality.

I delete a lot of large video files after I done with them.

Is this a fragmentation problem ?

Should I defrag my hard drive ?

Will that help in making the files encode faster ?

I close off all other programs that are usually running, but still slow.

Any other hints what I could to improve my encode speed ?

Sometimes it just stays at 4 percent and doesn't progress any further in progress bar
when using DVD Flick. Could it be a bad file sometimes ?

Thanks.

Hi all!

Thanks for the info in my past questions. It's been one computer problem after another lately it seems, both at work and at home.

My snag is this: Outlook

When I want to create a "new message" to send, it always defaults to "Chinese Simplified (GB2312)."
Also, when I go to switch identities, outlook disappears.

Any clues on why this is happening? I just downloaded an add-on to Outlook yesterday. It is an add-on from PayPal. But it was working okay after the download. It just started acting up today. Maybe I'll remove the add-on and see if that's the problem.

Thanks

Could you be more specific about what "issue" occurs with microsoft products.

This encoding refers to data text that is converted to numerical characters that the computer can understand. Its a very technical issue but if you need to know more about it, there is a great amount of literature on the subject. Go to a search engine such as Google or Ask and type in your query.

Hi all,
it's a very annoying problem, i hope somebody could help.
I do video encoding for a long time, this means for me capture video from my camcorder in DV format, edit and compress with DivX. Last step usualy is performed in VirtualDub.
Now the problem: the Select video compression dialog is empty (just the uncompressed line is there). I have all codecs installed, and it's worked some days before. It happened once and I did not find any solutuion but reinstall Windows, now the same again (in SP1 this time).
So, the codecs are installed (I can watch movies) but the encoder apps can't see any. What could be done - repetead reinstalls not an option.
This never happened on any other Windows.
Thanks.

Try your web browser :)

These files are typically written in XML, which Microsoft Office has a hard time interpreting. Your web browser should be able to interpret the XML files correctly. If your web browser won't for whatever reason, you can try Notepad if you don't mind the markup.

Hello,

I'm having encoding problems with IE7. I used to be able to view korean websites by going to view>>encoding>>korean. But now, I can't view any korean websites. The text comes out in jibberish and nothing changes when I try to encode it to korean. Actually, the encoding always stays at western european and I can't encode it to any other languages. however, I am able to view any other asian websites (chinese, japanese, etc.) and the text comes out just fine in the appropriate language.

One more thing to help with the troubleshooting, I uninstalled something a couple of days ago that may have caused this problem. But I'm pretty sure I uninstalled a useless thing, but I could be wrong.

PLEASE HELP!! I would hate to have to install the korean version of the IE7. I like the English version, i just need the korean language to work properly!!

I get an annoying Message:

This page contains both secure and nonsecure Items.

Do you want to display the nonsecure Items?

After some Testing I found out, that this error comes only up, if I set the encoding to UTF-8 in the Site:
<meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html;charset= UTF-8">

Unfortunatelly I have to use UTF-8 encoding in line with my resource bundles from the JSP.

Does anyone know what I shall do to get rid of the PopUp. (except using an other browser )

Thanks in advance.

A:Content Encoding Error

Problem Solved. I'm explaining the solution below.

While trying to find out any similar characteristics between the two systems that showed the error, I thought about their antivirus program. The two affected PCs were using AVG Free while the one that was OK is not (this one uses NOD32). So I opened system restore and noticed that the last update AVG did to both PCs was the same day the problems started appearing (AVG makes a system restore point in most -if not all- online updates). So I reverted the system to an earlier system restore point than the suspicious updates, and guess what. Everything was back to normal. I could access all web pages, without errors or any kind of difficulties. So I uninstalled AVG before it tries to make the update again, and installed NOD32 on both PCs. It's been only a few hours that they've been fixed, but both PCs seem to be perfectly fine, so I will post again only in case I get the same symptoms once more in the following days, meaning that this was not the solution. Otherwise, this is it.

It seems I opened the thread and found a solution in a matter of hours, but I still thought I'd explain the situation in case someone else searches for this particular problem, because when I did there were very few references and even fewer solutions out there.

I've recently started using Opera instead of IE at the recommendation of a friend, and I'm mostly happy that I changed.

Thing is, now that I'm using it, the text on the boards I frequent don't always look right.

It's mainly apostrophes and ellipses that are the problem, and as the main forum I use is a role-playing one, a lot of "I'm" type words are used and it's annoying that this keeps happening. Changing the encoding doesn't seem to work either.

What's happening?

In a slightly non-related question... text enclosed in the glow tags doesn't glow on Opera (or Firefox apparantly) either, why is this? The boards run vBulletin Version 3.0.3 if that makes a difference.

A:Opera encoding?

I don't think I'm understanding what your initial problem is. Can you take a screen shot and post it here? I primarily use Opera and haven't had any issues with the text.

As far as the Glow feature, that only seems to work within IE. I have a feeling it's a Microsoft only HTML feature and not part of any web standard, although I've never checked to see if that's what the case is.

Is there anything I can do to make web pages easier to read? I'm on Vista Home Premium.

A:Character Encoding

What do you mean by easier to read? Do you have eyesight problems? Is your computer's display fuzzy? You will have to provide more information before we can attempt to assist you.

You can zoom in on webpages or change your computer's display resolution, but until I know exactly what your problem is, I cannot give relevant advice.

This sounds like it might be a malware infection.

Have you run any scans lately?

Did you download BackUp4All from a reputable source?

I have tried all the encoding options but it just won't work.

Then when I change it back to english encoding (default), I found a "untitle.html" attachment at the bottom , so I downloaded it and open locally, it works :

Hello and welcome to the forums! My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. I am very sorry for the delay in responding, but as you can see we are at the moment being flooded with logs which, when paired with the never-ending shortage of helpers, resulted in the delayed responding to your thread.I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed. If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forums.
Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.
If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan on your computer. The one thing that you should always do, is to make sure sure that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date!
Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.
I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. From this point, we're in this together ;)
Because of this, you must reply within three days failure to reply will result in the topic being closed!
Please do not PM me directly for help. If you have any questions, post them in this topic.
Lastly, I am no magician. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system.
Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. A:Content Encoding Error

This situation nows seems to be worsening - if the two are related.

Am now getting 2 errors on every boot, just as Windows finishes loading.

1.) Error Loading - C:\Windows\pmqrsve.dll
2.) Error Loading - C:\Windows\oyugesagabi.dll

And on most recent boot straight after these I got a bluescreen error causing me to have to restart the machine - technical reference was Stop: 0x0000007E (OXC0000005, OX8a911922, OXBA5037BO, OXBA5034AC)

NO idea if this is all connected but problems do seem to be worsening - are there any logs i should run and post elsewhere? Am rather hesitant to start installing and running lots of software I don't really know how to use (HiJack this etc) without some guidance.

Thannks
Steve

I am using Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 3.

I noticed this issue in Firefox 3.6.8.

When I search Google, I am redirected to other advertising websites. Or I am taken to a Firefox error page which says "Content Encoding Error."

I have tried Google searches in Safari and I don't get any problems.

I have seen other posts about this topic on this forum, and I am hoping that someone can help me get rid of it as well. I understand it to be Malware, from what I have read. I am currently scanning my computer with Malwarebytes and AVG, though I had read that they rarely are able to pick up on the malware that causes this. For this reason, I am preemptively seeking help here.

Thanks in advance!

edit: sorry, I realize now this should be in the Malware section of the forum! I am not sure how to move it.

Well I now deleted AVCare with Windows Defender but I still got some more problems...

I need to remove this Google Redirections.
I click any result and it takes me to a random site.
for the Content Encoding Error its on FireFox and hasn't happened to me before as the same with the Google Problem.

It shows.

Content Encoding Error

The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.

* Please contact the website owners to inform them of this problem.
Also there is something that keeps showing the iexplore.exe which is Internet Explorer without it showing the Window. It is probably why im hearing random stuff like advertisements and site clicks. Like when you go to another site it does a *click* noise.

Getting an Error : Content Encoding Error . This Happens on my yahoo home page and many other Sites. Fix?

A:Getting an Error : Content Encoding Error ?

Try this (assuming you're using Firefox right?)

1) In the address bar type “about:config” (but without the inverted commas)
2) Tell it that you will be careful, Promise!!
3) In the filter type encoding
4) There should be one option reading “network.http.accept-encoding”
5) Click in the value column and type “true” (again without the inverted commas)

Better now?

This is an example from a book I've read, but I don't understand how it works.

A web admin may attempt to block SQL injections by  blocking input containing the apostrophe character.

However, an input containing double encoding may be able to defeat the filter.

eg : %2527

Why is this so ? The book stated that %2527 will become %27 after decoding it. What's the process behind it ?

Guidance is appreciated.

I'm trying to get as much music as possible onto my MP3 player.
That said, I have a question out of curiosity. I don't mind encoding media in mono-channel, but I am wondering if bitrate can be cut in half?
Basically the question is: does mono @ 64kbps = same quality as stereo @ 128kbps?

A:Question about Media Encoding

No.Personally, I think encoding music to 64 bps, much less mono, is a waste of time.In doing so, you will miss out on a lot of the intricate bits of the music.64 bps mono is fine for speech, or non-music radio, as there is a small range of tones in speech, but not for music. You just loose too much of the sound quality.Music has multi levels of sound, and tones, that need to have a wider range to capture all the detail. It's like listening to the same song on an AM station, compared to an FM station.AM sounds like they're singing in a bucket. What are you using to encode your music?Have you tried encoding the same song at 64 bps mono, and 128 bps stereo, then listening to the difference? If not, try it.If you have a half decent system, you should notice definite difference between the two, in sound quality.I suggest, at a minimum, 128 bps stereo. That's roughly equivelant to CD quality. But, all of this is irrelevant. It depends on what you consider acceptable.

My friend needs holiday card labels printed. Her Excel spreadsheet is a simple, no-password, 2003 Excel spreadsheet with under 200 names.

Problem? MailMerge asks "Select the encoding that makes your document readable." Apparently, MailMerge sees lots of open boxes instead of letters.

What's up? I've never run into this question before. Is the spreadsheet corrupted? And can I fix it, whatever "it" is?

Thanks... she's getting a little crazed at the thought of handwriting dozens of envelopes! I don't blame her a bit...

A:"Select the encoding that makes your document readable."

Hi mysticprin, welcome to TSG.

There are several reasons why Word could be prompting her for the encoding. The first thing I'd try is to copy the data into another spreadsheet, save it, and try again. If the original spreadsheet is corrupted, that may help. If that doesn't work, my speculation is that there's a stray random character that's choking Word. Try deleting all of the information except the header and the first line of data (keeping all of the original information in the original document, of course) and try again. If it works, add back the lines in groups of 10 or whatever works until you find the place that's causing the error.

Hope that helps.

Hi there,

I need to read an old e-mail but it is impossible to do so via Yahoo Mail or Microsoft Word.

The text is written in Greek and I suspect that it has been intentionally encrypted as I was able to read it when it was sent but now I can't

I changed the encryption to Greek and Unicode but nothing happened

Thanks in advance

The document is in 97-2003 word format and Ive tried opening it on different PCs and even MS Word 2003 and MS Word XP but no luck.
I remember that Ive come across such files in the past(and I am sure most of u have too) but whenever I clicked OK the document would open. I guess this word file/document uses some other encoding. Please help me open this file. Will any other software work? any other solution...

I am currently having a problem entering Arabic names and numbers into my contact database on Salesforce. I have tried to solve it using Salesforce's suggestions but have not succeeded. Their suggestions included:

Unicode 8 and 16: Although I had originally used 16bit and the problem remained.

Any other suggestions still end up with an issue regarding unicode. However, I have tried using both 8 and 16 and nothing works. Thus far, Salesforce have not been helpful so I would greatly appreciate any help here.

Hi my name is Larry. I've been trying to burn some videos on to DVDs using pinnacle but lately its not been working too great. when in the process of encoding the video it gets to end of last video and stops and does not start the burn process some times it only gets half way through the last video before stopping. Sometimes when this happens I close the program and open it up again and it starts burning to the DVD without trying encode the video again It .only burns the part of video it got done so if it did not get to the end of the video before stopping it waists the Blank DVD. Sometimes opening and closing the program does not even help. What should I do?

A:pinnacle studio 11 freezes encoding video

See if you can just make the image and save to disk, without burning it to DVD.
I have 14 so the setting may differ but when you go to make the movie and click on, or already have it on disc, click on settings... and under burn options choose Create disc content but don't burn. Also right next to that if you have a media type option, set it from Video_TS folder to ISO file.

Then see if the project will finish encoding. You won't get a DVD right away but you can then tell if the problem is with the encoding/production or if its with the burning process.

If you get a successful ISO image then you can install ImgBurn or use another image burning program if you already have one to burn the ISO image to the DVD.

Both 11 and 12 had some problems when it came to burning DVDs directly, I think it was 12 that needed an update or the audio didn't come through.

That should give you a better idea of at least where the problem lies and allow you to stop making coasters.

Also make sure there is plenty of room on the hard drive wherever the file is being saved to.

Hello friends!

I want to add two movies in one DVD. Both the movies that I want to add are already in DVD format, i.e. in .vob format. The problem is that when I use Nero Recode to add both these movies and a simple menu alongwith, it again encodes the whole movie, which is something I dont want. Is there a way by which no re-encoding is done and the movies are just added up, something what happen in DVD Shrink.

Thank you.

When I am looking at your site some of the gifs have an X (no picture). When I go to" View-

How do I make it stay on "Western".

A:Solved: windows 98 character encoding switches

Hiya and welcome

First off, lets see if clearing the Temp internet files help. Sometime they can cause all sorts of problems, the main one being the X instead of a picture.

Go to Control Panel | Internet Options. General tab. Under Delete Files, also remove offline content.
Advanced tab, scroll down to Security. Tick Empty tempory internet files..., Apply and OK.

Now, does it still happen? Also, is it just with this site, or does it happen on any other site? For instance, can you see this gif:

Windows media player converts tracks to .wma format, not mp3, unless you've paid for the extra plug in.
CDEX is a free programme that will save your cd's to mp3, and whilst ripping them, you can access an online database to tag the music correctly.

If you have Norton Protected Recycle Bin enabled, you will probably find it there. Finally, it may be temporarly saved by the XP System Restore.
