Preferred Solution: Need A Good Download Program

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm looking for a website downloading program that specifically downloads certain files like JPEG's or mpeg's. I tried a few programs from download.com, but they were useless went all over the webpage looking for all kinds of files of the jpg type.

I am specifically looking for a program that will download all jpg's from ONE PAGE. That means only the link that I give it, I don't want the program to go from one page then go to another page that the one page linked to and download those pictures also.

A:what's a good program to download files off websites?

Many of the programs you mention allow you to set the search depth, set it to 0 or 1, and it'll be restricted to the page you're on.

I am having problems finding a good download manager. I tried internet download manager and it is awful. I see a lot of people on the internet recommending this problem, but it is constantly crashing my computer. My computer runs completely fine without the problem working.

Does anyone know of any good download managers?

A:What is a good download manager?

Depending on your browser choice my opinion is to stay clear of them. Is it because you feel you might get more speed or are you having drop outs that you cannot resume ?

I'd like to get a good download manager program to be used primarily for music only. I don't need alot of fancy bells and whistles, just something so that I can line up 50-100 songs and walk away from the computer until they are finished. I've been downloading 2 songs at a time and that is beginning to get old.

A free download manager would be best, provided that it doesn't come with adware, spyware, or any other unpleasant surprises.

Any helpful suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks.

are you looking for the amount in Hours or Bytes? There are quite a few internet counters out there that record the hours, minutes and seconds you have ben online. Google "online timer" and you will find a ton of these

However if you want to find a program to recoard how many bytes your computer receves in a week, I have never heard of one. May I ask why you need to keep track of it and I may be able to suggest differnt ways to go about retreving that kind of information without added programs

Hi guys.

I'm looking for a good download manager that would integrate seamlessly with Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 64 Bit.

When I was on XP I never required a download manager as I used Firefox and loved it. However, I haven't somehow felt too comfortable using it on Windows 7. Neither am I big fan of Chrome.

Hope you guys could suggest some alternatives. Else I'll have to look back at FireFox it seems.

Thanks.

A:Good download manager or alternatives

Why aren't you comfortable using Firefox on Windows 64-bit (btw is that Vista or Windows 7) ? It might not (yet) be a 64-bit binary application but that doesn't stop from working very well in a 64-bit environment.

My internet is very slow, and cuts out alot. So I want a program I can download anything with, and pause and restart a download at any point. Similar to bitcomet or free download manager. I am not going to use bitcomet as I've been told its illegal and free download manager is to confusing. Is their any program that can download all file types - wmv and mpeg most importantly that can pause them?

I was wondering if such a program exists and if so, can someone recommend one? I'm looking to clean up some files on my registry. Is that safe? I've already used some programs like Spybot, Ad-aware, Norton and Trojan Remover. But, it seems I still have somewhat of a lot of programs still running in my registry which could possibly be slowing my computer. Any recommendations?

A:Looking for a good program

Hi Chadwick0211,

Registry cleaners are not recommended. When you say there appear to be programs running in your computer and slowing it down, how do you know this? What programs have highlighted them?

The reason I ask is that programs that run in the registry are either necessary system files, optional programs which you have installed or malicious files which have sneaked in. You can damage the registry very easily if you don't know what you are doing.

There are safer things to do with the second group, like stopping them running on startup, and experts here can help you with the last group. We just need to know a bit more about them.

Hi everybody Im kinda new here so dont be to hard on me I have an older Dell pc that I am running with windows Over the years all Is a one good program? for there it has gotten a bit slower and Im sure a little clogged up I went through my programs and discovered that over the years I have collected several programs all related to maintaining the pc What I would like to do is uninstall ALL of them and do a fresh install of ONE program that does it all Is there a program that does it all Is there a good one for all program? Currently I have installed System Mechanic Professional Kaspersky Internet Security SUPER AntiSpyware Spyware blaster Smart Defrag I also must admit I really dont have any problems with spyware or anything else Like I said a little slower than it used to be But that is to be expected I know that there is a new System Mechanic out I was thinking about upgrading to that and uninstalling everything else Good idea or not

A:Is there a good one for all program?

No. I used System Mechanic several years ago. It's not worth the money. Some of the things it does can be done better by free programs and stuff like a registry cleaner you shouldn't use anyway. It's not an anti virus. It has an anti spyware but it isn't very good. And it doesn't have a firewall. Chances are pretty good that Kaspersky is what is slowing down your computer because like most anti virus programs, it's running in the background and all anti virus programs slow down your computer to some degree. You have to sacrifice some speed to get that protection because you'll get infected if you don't have it. With the exception of Spyware Blaster, none of that other stuff including System Mechanic runs in the background so they're not slowing down your computer. Ditching all your security programs just because your computer is a little slow is throwing out the baby with the bath water.

So I have been looking at some of the application in CCleaner and I noticed that it has a feature where it can turn off programs so I was wondering what programs I could turn off. Please look at the following pictures to see each categories from start up, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Context Menu. So I just want to know what program are safe to switch off so I can slightly increase my performance since my computer lags a lot. Also one last question is, is it bad to have both Adobe Reader X and Adobe Acrobat 7 Pro on your laptop?

A:What program are good to have on?

From the browser's settings menu or options, look for the add-ons section to disable or tweak some or remove them completely. Do you have a particular issue with your computer? Ccleaner is mainly use for clearing your temp. files and could also be helpful in removing programs, no other. If you want to disable startup programs which are not needed during booting, you can try MS autoruns or startup lite by Malwarebytes.

Does anybody know a good and trustworthy website to download the latest drivers of a device (other than the manufacturer's website). The driver of the device i'm looking for isn't on the manufacturer's website and Windows Update sometimes doesn't update all the hardware to the latest.

A:good and trustworty website to download drivers

softpedia.com often has device drivers. When you say it's not on the manufacturers website, do you mean Acer's website, or the device manufacturers website? For example, if you are looking for your Radeon video card driver, Acer may not have the newest version available, or might not have 7 version at all. But ATI's website will have it, if it exist.

I'm looking to do some computer art and need a good program. I'm specifically interested in creating small graphics, such as for avvies, buttons on forums, symbols, and other things.

Recommendations?

Paid programs are fine, but freeware is always preferable, as long as its decent. =)

A:Good Graphics Program

Well Paint.NET is ok.

GIMP is also free, has a windows version and quite powerful though somewhat obtuse at times. May be "too much".

Photoshop elements is relatively cheap for an amazingly full featured paint program. (90% of Photoshop at 10%of the price)

Then there is Photoshop. Expensive to start to be sure, but once your in you can update as often or inoften as you want (almost) for a resonable price.

Fore more pure art Painter (now owned by Corell) is really really nice and not horribly expensive.

Has anyone seen a good mp3 joining program? As an audiobook lover, I frequently get a lot of small mp3s that I would prefer to join up into chapter size chunks. I have a couple of programs that allow me to do this as a cut-and-paste process, but that is too fallible to human error. In other words, I screw that up too often, getting parts in the wrong order or leaving them out all together. I would love a program that would just allow me to select the files to be joined by filename order, and then join them up. Thanks for your help if you know of such a prog.

I just downloaded AVG 8.0 because I have heard people talk about how good AVG is. I told my mom to replace her Norton with AVG because I heard Norton takes over your computer, however her computer guy told her that AVG is bad and to keep Norton.

Well since I have downloaded AVG, I feel as though it has taken over my computer. It runs slower now, my outlook 2002 continually crashes. I had CA Suite I got free when I had roadrunner...for some reason I had in my head the CA Suite wasn't that good.

Now I'm totally frustrated with AVG. I just want good virus protection and anti spam. I don't need firewall because it seems to mess with my internet provider.

What's a good program?

Thanks for your help.

A:Solved: Good program

I used to use AVG, but ditched it a while back (can't remember why but there must have been a good reason).
Now use Avast Free version, which has given me no problems at all.

So I have been using Comodo Internet Security, but I think it has been causing some problems with the OS. It made everything run slow. either it was the firewall, or nvidia drivers... I reinstalled Windows 7 Pro x64 (formatted hd and did clean install), and everything is snappy and fast like it was in the beginning. The thing that I am having trouble with, is that with the RC, I used Comodo, and had the Nvidia drivers and all that, and it never was slow like this was before the reinstall. I don't think I could have messed anything up in the system files, because I never did anyhting to them.

Bottom line, I'm looking for a good, free firewall. Let me know what you guys think!

i've got a nifty little cd player that play's mp3 discs. it doesn't support playlists, but it does allow you to play albums that have been sorted into seperate folders and allows you to jump from album to album.

i've always used nero to burn the mp3 cds because it lets you add mp3 folders to the burn list. however, i've recently lost the program due to a computer crash and misplacement of the cd.

so now i'm screwed. do any of you know of a freeware program that allows you to burn mp3's with folders to a disc? thanks so much. plus, if you try to do it with windows it won't be readable by my cd player. thanks!

A:Looking for a good sales program

Any of the speadsheets 1-2-3, Excel or Quattro Pro will easily do the jobs you describe if you do not want a full accounting program. The learning curve is not steep for the spreadsheets, but you need some accounting background to take full advantage of Quickbooks and the learniing curve can be steep..

Ok, I'm sure this has been exhausted to death, at least somewhere, but I couldn't find it ... so, what's a really good, and non-annoying program to burn data, music, and copy CDs/DVDs? I used to have Nero v6.0, but every 6 months, it tells me that I need to repurchase my license, and I know I could rip it off somewhere, or get a keygen, but I'd rather have something legal, and preferably free, although it doesn't really matter at this point, as long as it's very good, especially at the copying (and controlling aspects, like the burn speed, ect...) thanks guys.

A:Good Burning Program?

Nero works good for me, and I've never received anything from Nero about the license.

I know there are some free programs out there, but don't recall what they are.

With XP I've been using Outlook Express and I seriously miss it. Now I have Live Mail but I'm not very happy with it. For several reasons I have to keep the old mails and it got very slow when I imported them.

I've tried Thunderbird but can't make it work with my accounts. I'm not stupid, but if a simple thing like setting up multiple accounts just doesn't work whatever I do, then this program is not for me.

I also tried Outlook 2003 but I don't like the fact that it puts all the mails into one big file. When the .pst file reached a size of 1GB it got very slow.

Any other suggestions?

Not sure if this is the right location to ask, I am looking to find what is the best software to use to remove a program from your system for good. Like when you download a trial version of a program but then decide not to purchase and you go to uninstall program, I know that there is still information on your computer about that program.
What I am asking is if you go to RegEdit and then to software and delete will that remove it from your computer for good or do I need a registry cleaner program to do this.

A:Removing a program for good.

Hi

If you remove it using the uninstaller (Add/Remove Programs) that should be sufficient.

You could however run a system search for it's name and delete all the folders related to it under C:\WINDOWS\Documents and Settings\<userlogin>\ and C:\Program Files\. That will give you what is remaining.

More can be found in the registry, under Software, they are the remnant keys, but will do no harm if just left there - they are merely even a few bytes and your software will still be uninstalled.

I'm running Win2000 pro on an AMD thunderbird 1000 mgz chip on a PcChips motherboard with 240 sdram. It seems to run fine then boom, it shuts off and reboots out of nowhere!!

I have never had this happen before. My fans are working, everything seems to be in order. When it reboots it goes through the start up process.

Sometimes it starts and sometimes it tries to reboot over and over without going into the windows screen until I just have to shut it down and give it a minute to compose itself.

So I need a good diagnostic program so that I can check all the hardware to make sure everything is up to snuff. Any ideas? Thanks so much for the help.

I know there are programs to backup your hard drive. I intend to use a BartPE boot CD to enter my system and back up my 300GB hard drive.

But, I'm wondering is there any kind of backup software that would let me reinstall to my computer any program/file I have backed up to my 3TB external hard drive by pointing and clicking/selecting?

Rather than have to install everything I have put on the system by disc with the discs again? That sounds like a real hassle and I would rather avoid it.

A:Know a good backup program

Then clone your C: drive to your external. You can make a Drive Image Backup file to the external, then if the C: drive fails, you can restore your image clone and it will be just like the day you cloned the image. If one of your drives is a Western Digital, you can use the free Acronis for WD drives.

[email protected] Disk Image. Windows & Servers Backup Software. Win XP, 7, 2003, 2008, Vista.

Once you've made the bootable CD you have a choice of running the software in either Windows or from the CD which runs it in WinPE.

I've got a laptop that is hooked up to my home network over wireless that I'm trying to backup. Here is what I'm looking for. I have an external USB HD I use to backup (manually) and transfer large files/programs. I am looking for a program that I can run that will transfer files and directories I select off my local hard drive to my USB drive. I do not want to sync the files. I just want the files to transfer and if the file is there, it is overwritten and if not, it is just copied. I've searched around a little... haven't found exactly what I am looking for. I thought about writing my own program to do the aforementioned task, but it would be slicker to just DL a program that does this already. Anyone have any suggestions?
