This seems liek a useful app, but i've never heard of it.. so i thought i would come over here and see if it is legit.
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
I was updating my graphics card drivers for my graphic card PNY GEFORCE GTX 660 and went to device manager, I used ?automatically search for new driver? and a dialog box appeared "Windows has determined that the driver is up to date".
Yet, I went to Nvidia website and did a driver update. I checked again Device manager for my display adapter and the new driver was TWO MONTHS NEWER.
I wonder why that happens.
I have an i5 4570 and I would like some more cpu power for when im gaming.
Should I invest in an unlocked i5 and just overclock it to save some money? My current i5 never goes above 40c under load.
Or should I go for an i7 and overclock it instead?
What GPU do you have because an i5 K series is very powerful, and if you have a weak GPU, spend the money there. But if your GPU is already powerful, get the i5 K and a nice CPU cooler (Hyper 212 Evo, Hydro series by corsair, Noctua, etc.). Then you can overclock it to about 4.2-4.5(4.7 at most). 4.2/4.3 is a safe bet for the Hyper 212 if you decide on that. 4.5 is good with a watercooler. Just google your cooler and cpu models and see what people recommend as a stable OC.
Ok, I decided I am going to buy a GTX 750 Ti. I am just not sure what version to get.
Should I go for MSI,ASUS,EVGA....I donīt know. So I was hoping some of you guys can recommend a brand.
Thanks in advance.
In all honesty they all have the same limitations and because of the low power draw the temps are not much different between them.
My favorite for the 750ti is the Asus because I like the Asus cooler better. I normally prefer MSI or EVGA if they release a classified or lightning version but beyond that Asus is the better choice IMO.
I'm a newbie to this stuff, sorry guys! (If any of this makes sense, BRILLIANT!)
I know it's an PCI-E x16 as it says that by the port itself. But what .0 version is it?
example: PCI-E 1.0 x16, PCI-E 2.0 x16 etc.
I need to know this information quite soon as I'm planning on buying the Nvidia GTS 450 (if It is compatible, other wise feel free to recommend some compatible cards.
The Card: http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gts-450/specifications
The Port: http:[email protected]/8524755663/in/photostream/
Any reply will be greatly appreciated.
I wouldn't worry about it too much, only the newer GPUs will take full advantage of the bandwidth of a PCI-E x16 2.0/3.0 slot. That being said, if you have a PCI-E x16 slot, you can put any PCI-E x16 GPU in it, unless you're spending upwards of $300+ on a GPU. (GTX 660Ti or a better card) I would shoot for a motherboard with at least a PCI-E x16 2.0 slot.
Would you mind providing the type of motherboard you're using?
I'd like the wireless version of this mouse, but my experience with wireless mice is that they are not as responsive and accurate as a wired mouse. Is that still true and is it true for this mouse? That's if anyone has used both versions.
I'll just go for the wired mouse to be on the safe side probably.
Wireless mice are just as or even more responsive now than wired mice are

I just got my box of googies to start a new build but i am trying to get a HDMI cable for the GT430.
In the description for the card it says its a type 'C' but all i can see on the cable side of things are types like 1.3b or V1.4 ?
So i have selected this cable...
Xenta Gold Plated V1.4 HDMI
Would it be ok to use with this graphics card ?
Thanks for any info offered
Yeah, if can plug in the standard TV type HDMI cable to your video card, you're golden.
The "1.3 or 1.4" issue, (or perhaps hype), pertains to data throughput, and not the physical connection configuration, so even type 1.3 will suffice for 1080p.
The 2 Gigabyte boards I have with IGP, take the standard HDMI cable, same as you would use to hook up a Blu-Ray or DVD player to your TV.
I recently just built my first pc with a Asus Sabertooth x58 motherboard. When I checked the Bios it was version 0702; however, I cannot find that version anywhere on the web. Not even Asus's website. Any idea why that is? Also should I upgrade to their new BIOS v0802?
Should you upgrade? If you aren't having any problems with the BIOS now, I would not bother. You may if you wish but there is some risk involved.

I have heard that radeon 4670 is equivalent to geforce 9600GSO/8800GS.
But here in my country gfx cards are too expensive. Only the choice for me is to buy msi r4670-2d1g which is a 1gb version or Geforce GT240 512mb ddr3 so i want to know that is there any difference between 4670 1gb and GT240 512mb ddr3 , if there is, then which one is faster and by how much!!!
though 1gb has lower mem. clk. but does that make it slower than gt240 .The other available options are geforce 9800gt, radeon 4850, radeon 4890....etc. but these card need a bulky psu which my system lags.
so i am in need of an advice that which one is faster between these two:MSI radeon 4670 1gb or geforce gt240(which is 512mb ddr3)
BTW i have Samsung T220 22" monitor.
THnx in advance.
Overall the GeForce 9600 GSO is a little bit faster than the Radeon 4670, but not by much. So its all about your personal choice & price difference between the two in your part of the woods.

What problem do you have with your graphics card?
Unless absolutely necessary, it isn't generally recommended to update the BIOS.

Well I need to know if I have the up-to-date drivers and where I could update them.
go to the manufacturer's website, and find your model's driver - usually in support>drivers
i wana know what is the best version because right now i have the latest version but my pc restarts with those games with big sizes
What operating system are you using?
Did you have a driver set that was working before the update? (If so restore back to it for now)
I have used this network adapter for over a year now, I had to do a system restore last night do to a really bad virus I reinstalled everything beautifully but when I tried to connect to the network and I get an error saying that the access point can reach the router but not the internet. I have tried disabling the firewalls and reinstalling the software, I have also tried restoring the default setting in the router but still no luck! If any buddy as any idea what else I could try to get it working again please feel free to lead a hand! Thanks in advanced!!!

I recently flashed the BIOS on my P5N32-E SLI from 1404 to 1601, and when it was done, the board would no longer successfully POST with both of my 8800GTS 512s plugged in. Every time it POSTed it would fail either upon listing the CPU speed, or while searching for HDDs and optical drives. Problem disappeared when I removed my second 8800GTS. I wondered if maybe my power supply (460 watt Enermax, 33A +12V) was starting to fail, because it is a little low on juice to power an SLI system.
But it powered it just fine for about 4 months.
So that led me to believe that this BIOS flash has somehow caused the board to not want to POST anymore when both cards are plugged in. So I'm wondering if it's possible to flash my BIOS back to an older version, one that actually allows SLI to work.
EDIT: Fixed, see post 10.
IF you updated your Bios you might need to also go into it and re-enable SLI.
Check it out!
I would like to buy a good keyboard that would be for everything, gaming, photoshop, typing, multimedia (basic - volume, forward/backward,stop, play).

you can still play dx9 games with dx10.
Thanks to everyone that takes the time to read this. I want to replace my OEM MSI MS-6577 mobo that came with my HP for another version of the MSI MS-6577 mobo but the new one would have an AGPx4 slot and the current one only has PCI slots. I read that replacing the motherboard on OEM systems with Windows XP like mine has, will cause big problems unless it for the exact same make and model motherboard. In my situation, it is the exact same make and model but a different version of the mobo that would have an additional AGP slot. Would this give me BSOD or would the swap go smoothly? I am also hoping not to have to reinstall Windows XP without having to go buy a copy as I read you can't do that off recovery discs with OEM Windows XP builds. Thank you everyone again.:grinthumb
The problem would be with Microsoft
I believe you could put a different version of motherboard on there, heck, you could put an entirely different make of motherboard if you wanted as long as it fits the case's form factor. Simply, the screw holes on the motherboard have to align with the holes on the case.
The trouble you will run into is with Microsoft. Your copy of XP is associated with the serial number, model, and make of your present motherboard, and it's recorded in Microsoft's database. That's what happens when you activate a Microsoft product. The operating system or software will get your motherboard's information and record it. Now here comes the problem...
If you put in a new motherboard, the operating system on your hard drive is going to look up your previous motherboard's information when it boots up. If it sees a new motherboard, it will say, "I'm not associated with you, so I must not be licensed with you!" and it will tell you to contact Microsoft or buy a new copy of Windows.
What you have to do then is call Microsoft and ask them if you can associate your copy of Windows with a new motherboard. They will want to know why. Usually, they will only do that if your motherboard failed, exploded, or somehow became destroyed so you had to replace it. I don't know about motherboard upgrades. To Microsoft, each and every motherboard is a separate computer, and you are only licensed for one computer.
So, what I would do if I were you is to call Microsoft and ask them if you can move your license to a new motherboard before you do anything else.
okey, so this sucks: I bought a used iPAQ 3850 on eBay, description fine, price even better. When I got it, however, the screen was not lighting up, even though it was displaying just fine and I noticed the wrong ROM version (4.00 for WM2003 instead of 3.00 for the 3850).
I tried a rollback with a rom update utility from compaq, which I used on previous 3850s and it worked just fine, however, due to the fact that 4.00 is the wrong ROM v. for this machine, the utility won't permit me to reset it. It also seems there is no hard way to do this. Every attempt has failed. Now my suspicion is, that the backlight problem is related to the ROM v. ?? Any confirmation or idea to this thought?
If anybody ever had this problem and/or has a slight idea for a solution, I'd be happy to try it, THANKS!
kingair_six,AFAIK these pda's comes with some type inverter, i mean that the screen has lamp which "eats" 24v voltage... sorry i don't remember exactly if this model has transreflective screen, if so, then my suggestion was mistake. anyway the backlight is independable from rom version. if bootloader works fine, then you'll see the welcome screen with compaq logo
HI im recently bought a radeon hd pro agp version card and i cant get any of my games to work or the letest drivers available. The version 8.1 says cant find hardware or software compatible with driver when installing. The only driver that installs and works is the one it came with and the one from the daimondmm website but none of my games will work properly open Gl is not supported in counterstrike 1.6 and direct 3d doesnt work in counterstrike source. I even tried battle field.PLease help me i dont want to have to buy another video card this one cost me 130 $ .
AGP is turned on in system bios/cmos (this is in the computer's boot menu, usually DEL or F2 to enter)
Is the original video driver (onboard) full working (all drivers installed) I've noticed that the new video cards sometimes fault (no card detected) if the onboard aren't fully installed.
You may need to go to Device Manager (Control Panel-System-Hardware) and remove the video card(s) and install the Onboard then AGP video card after restart.
(Note: have your drivers available to install)
This is really bothering me...
Someone I know said it might have something to do with bandwidth or something...
They look exactly the same to me. Could it be that the 512MB version comes with Company of Heroes ? Opposing Fronts? You don't get it with the 1GB card.
I am running Windows CE Version 5 on a mobile device and need to find out the firmware version.
Also where do i download and check for the latest firmware
What device do you have? You could go to www.ppcgeeks.com. Great forum for mobile devices with the latest Firmware/Software/OS.....
Hi. Is there anyone that knows how to roll back the Bios? I have an HP Pavilion dv9500 laptop I sent in to HP to have the HD re-imaged. I believe that they flashed the bios on me because the version that I have now is newer than when I purchased the computer.
Is it possible to rollback the bios? I am having problems with Help and Support displaying the correct information since I got my laptop back. HP stated that they repaired and upgraded the laptop. I just want it back to the way it was. I just purchased this is July, and the bios version is for August 28th (according to their website).
If anyone can help me I would sincerely appreciate it. I do not want to cause damage, so I would like some instruction.
Thanks for anyone that can help me out.
The only recommendation I can make is that you take it back to HP. If it doesn't work properly you have a right to get them to fix it. For free!
I am hoping that you guys know how to check the USB version/speed in the computer once the cables are connected. It's a problem for me because I want the best quality when transferring data, and I own so man cables like 10 of them. I have different length cables, too, does that affect speed?
So my main question is how do I know if my USB cable is 2.0 or 1.1?
if you have a USB 1.1, when you plug in a device like a flash drive windows will tell you is is slow and will run faster.
If you have a late model computer, rest assured, your USB ports are 2.0
Cable length really doesn't make a difference until you're more than 5 feet in length. At that point you want a POWERED usb hub.
if you go into windows control panel under device manager it will say enhanced USB for 2.0
soz if this is in the wrong spot.
I hav a nokia 6111 with bluetooth version 2.0.. i think.
I am going 2 buy a bluetooth dongle from ebay. and i was wondering if the version of the dongle needs to be 2.0 or higher?
The bluetooth dongle does not state wat version it is. And i dont want 2 buy this if it wont work. This item is also new. so does that give a good indication on wat version of bluetooth it will support?
any help will b greatly appretiated.. Thanx
what exactly are you buying?
afaik 2.0 is backwards compatible at least it is with my phone...
A warning these questions are far below most of what I have seen ATI Problems version) Installation Radeon (PCI 9250 on here I recently bought Radeon i uninstalled my old voodoo i know and hooked it into my first PCI slot I then following ATI s instructions hooked everything back up including the monitor to the new video card The screen ended up blank and the monitor obviously was ATI Radeon 9250 (PCI version) Installation Problems not recognized I hooked the monitor up to the ATI Radeon 9250 (PCI version) Installation Problems built-in motherboard graphics chip and the screen came up and told me to install the drivers new hardware found yadda yadda Had problems with that installation not sure why although when i check the device manager it says the card is functioning properly Not sure what to do next when i hooked it up there was a bundle of cords with a plastic clip on the end told you i suck whcih was plugged into the voodoo chip but there is no place to put it on the new chip I don t know if that s the power source ATI Radeon 9250 (PCI version) Installation Problems or what or if I need new cords or a new motherboard or just some good advice any help would be greatly appreciated Thanks - Super Super novice BKreezy nbsp
i dont tihnk that this will help you much but,
i have the radeon 9250 pro card as well, only in APG (or is it AGP??) anyway, i had NO trouble with installation, just make sure you have used the supplied CD to install the nessesary and corfect drivers.
I was looking at This mobo from EVGA and noticed tiger had the New T1 version for $20 more.
Does anyone know what the difference between these mobos is and is it worth paying the $20 extra for whatever the new T1 version is? They also have things listed like the A1 version.
Usually those slight upgrades fix or repair some flaw or device driver... also you can often learn more by a Google search or just reading the specs at EVGA on each.
These slight upgrades are usually important enough to pay the extra 20 bucks.
I just paid a **** load of money for Studio Version 10 and can download but i cant see anything after that. How do I check to see what version of video card that i have? It requires directX9. i am using a Dell GX260. All other requirments are met and video is the only thing that I can think of. HELP....
Just type your laptop name into google you'll find the specs on there somewhere. Also what is the exact error that comes. up
Ive downloaded directX 9.0c and all that i see on my desktop ar books which i extracted with win.rar so there into folders now what do i do??? On Steam(For Counter Strike: Source) it says my graphics card is versoin 220.127.116.1120
Any help wud be grately apreasheated
the books are the unextracted files. you need to go into the folder that you extracted the files into. once you're in that folder there should be a "setup" icon, click that and it should start the installation.
otherwise try this one ,it is a .exe version (not a .rar version), it should install itself once clicked on.
i got the oem version because it was a strait swap the jumpers are the same as the old cd-rw that was in the tower but nero wont even use the drive that i have it came with no disks etc so i was wondering if ne1 knew of ne free software that is avaliable to get this drive running. any suggestions will ber greatly appreciated

There are numerous freeware alternatives. like DeepBurner, CD Burner XP Pro, Burn4Free, SilentNightMicro Burner, Etc.
I downloaded new version 84.21 about forceware ,but when I finished the installing, restart computer and I can't acess into OS.It's only a black screen ,after that is blue screen, and finally computer restart again?????I checked the list of VGA card and it supports my Graphic card!!Geforce 6600!!!! please help me!!thanks very much!!!!!
I suppose the first step is to get your system back to a working state. Or have you already?
Can you boot up in safe mode? If you can, do a system rollback.
If your card works on the previous nvidia driver, and not on the newest, then I'd stay with the older version. Sometimes new drivers have bugs. Happens.
I want to update my BIOS to the latest version but its soo complicated.
The Asus Update tool is the most disfunctional piece of crap i've ever come across and i've been to the Asus site and downloaded the updates ut dont know how to work them.
I havent got a clue how to do it.
Anyway, i've also had trouble determining my currrent BIOS version.
In my BIOS, it says...
Build Date: 08/03/04
It also says at the bottom...
V02.54 (C) Copyright 1985 - 2003, American Megatrends, Inc.
And in dxdiag window, it says...
Now for f*ck sake, what the bloody hell is that all about???
Anyway, could someone link me to the files I need to update my BIOS to the latest version and how?
Thanks in advance :slurp:

not an answer but after this you'll feel better
I followed the complicated steps.
I'm pretty sure I had the right .rom file, And I'm pretty sure I did everything correctly.
Too bad that the system doesn't start at all...Oh the fans turn on. but screen stays blank.
Now I'm wondering is there anything more I can do...or should I just toss that mobo to trash...
Do-It-Yourself. Yay! :unch:
I have an old Tyan Tomcat IV dual processor board that I would like to flash to a newer BIOS. I have the BIOS file, but the manufacturer's website doesn't specify which Award Flash utility to use for this board. There are at least three.
The question: WILL ANY AWARD FLASH UTILITY WORK FOR FLASHING AN AWARD 4.51PG BIOS?
If the flash utility isn't the correct one, will it damage the BIOS in anyway, or just halt?
Well, my friend had a 6800 GT from leadtek. He was playing Path of Neo and all of a sudden it crashed on him. He thought it was just another random restart. It turns out that when he went to push the power button again, theres no bios screen and the screen seems to go into standby. We plugged another video card into his mother board and it worked fine. The card is now mine and he gave me this one. It does the same thing on my motherboard. Is it just a 340$ rock now? Specs:
Mainboard is a K8T800-8237 Socket 754
Processer is 3000+ 64 bit
Current drivers: latest forceware 81.??
Any useful information you might have please throw at my way thank you.
Sounds like a dead card. It should still be under warranty though.
Hey guys I have no idea how this thing works so I hope I get help and soon but, I have been having probs with my winmx. I for no apparent reason cannot connect. I think it has somehting to do with the song library but Im not sure if anyone could help me pleaz write back asap thanks-
here are the specs of my machine.
I have windows XP SP2, AMD K7 processor, Nvidia Geforce FX5200 with 128MB ram, 512MB ram with 219.29MB free, 224GB HD, DirectX 9.0c.
One of the games I am trying to run is "Requiem, Avenging angel" from 3DO.
I have played games on PC now for the last 10 years plus. I still have a lot of my older games which I used to run on my old machine running Win 98b with the older DirectX versions. I would like to be able to keep playing them, but games which use DirectX versions older than 7 cannot detect DX 9.
I have heard of some software which tells (lies to) the software that the version is what it wants. If this software exists or if there is any other workaround I would be very interested in any help at all with this issue.
A good while back I built my father a system using an Asus A V X It was recently thwacked by a lightning strike so I m going to replace it I originally bought and used some of the A V X features Firewire RAID etc but version slightly of dead same with capable mobo A7V8X: the replacing less he doesn t need any of that The only thing I can find available quickly is the A V X-X which is the same board but does NOT have RAID or firewire The whole point of using the same mobo is to make it software compatible -- no reinstall necessary If I replace the A V X with an A V X-X I m hoping that the only Bad Things that will happen is windows complaining that the firewire port and the SATA RAID controller have gone quot missing quot and that s all -- which is no problem for me Does anyone know if this is actually what will happen Thanks much nbsp
Boards are essentially the same.
If I replace the A7V8X with an A7V8X-X, I'm *hoping* that the only Bad Things that will happen is windows complaining that the firewire port and the SATA RAID controller have gone "missing" and that's all -- which is no problem for me.Click to expand...
I just parted ways with my own A7V8X after years of reliable use. Good board. I didn't have the SATA or RAID though.
Assuming you are running XP, and weren't using the RAID controller, you should have no problem swaping out boards. When XP doesn't find the controllers, it will simply remove the devices from the Device Manager.
If however you *were* using the RAID to run two drives in parallel (stripe-0) to speed things up, you'll have to connect those drives to another RAID to accesses them or else you loose everything.
But since you say you weren't using them, you're fine (I've changed MB's completely with the same C: drive and XP just configured everything automatically.
Trouble Installing Diamond Stealth S60 Radeon 7000 Video Card PCI Version
I am trying to install this Video card in my PCI slot. I have e-machine W2686 with AM37 MB, with an on board S3Graphics ProSavageDDR. When I install the card, my screen goes black. When I remove the card all works well. After reading some posts, it appears I might need to disable the current card, but can't find that in the BIOS. Any help is appreaciated.
Welcome to Techspot!
You are correct you will absolutely have to disable the on board video in your bios.
Keep in mind E machines are hard to upgrade because they limit the amount of variables in the proprietary bios they write to their machines.
If you know how to get to the Bios setup screens you will be looking for anything that refers to the 'on board graphics/video' and disable it !
You may have to go to Emachines web site and search for the technical instructions that refer to your model , that should tell you what choises you have.
Well I've just trash my sucky graphic card NVIDIA MX420 and then get an All-in-wonder 9800Pro 128MB (which I thought is uber) but... its performance is bad.
I know so far there is 2 version of the VPU Radeon 9800. And 128-bit version is not good... someone said its just like a 9800SE...
So is there anyway to check what version is my graphic card? I've used the tool offered on the ATI tech support page but its just say that "128MB DDR / SDRAM" didn't give any more details 128-bit or 256-bit memory.
Thanks in advance!
Rivatuner or Powerstrip. Both will also overclock the card. Ive found Rivatuner to be more stable.
How do you find out what version of the VIA 4in1 drivers are
currently installed on a PC??
The Microsoft driver / file version numbers seem to have no relationship
with the VIA driver version numbers.... so how can you tell?
I know ... the obvious answer is just install the latest
ones and be done with it. BUT it doesn?t answer the question
one simple is is to use start> find> files VIA & see if your Via folder has a # ie: Via4.36

I have someone who is using PKZIP Version 2.50 on three different computers that launches the following command line within a batch file.
PKZIP -P -n+ MONDATA.ZIP DATA\*.*
Now it works fine on two computers but on the other it starts but falls out of the command when it hits a file that has a long file name. Now if I remove the -n+ it works but then some of the filenames or truncated.
I've copied the same batch file over from a working PC and it does the same. The only difference I could find between the PC'S was the Unicode was down as "English (United States)" rather than "English (United Kingdom)" and Install files for East Asian languages was ticked. I've set these to be the same and still no joy.
Any suggestions please
I'm currently writing my bachelor thesis in information systems. I'll be researching illegal trade on the dark web, the case study being the Silk Road online drug market on the TOR-network.
Because of the nature of the site, it often goes up and down. I would therefore like to make an offline version of the site, stored on my local hard drive for backup.
I've used software like ScrapBook and HTTRack, but they just won't take .onion-sites!
(I'm using the TOR Bundle for browsing the TOR network and my OS is Windows 7.)
Hmm; IMO, you just don't need to replicate a site to do this research and this approach would be unethical.
If you need a few webpages, access them via the browser and perform a SAVE PAGE AS and use TEXT Files option to avoid all the scripts and graphics.
You might get a programmer to do some work with PHP using the cURL feature and that's opening the barn door for you.

My laptop came installed with MS Office 2007 trial. I tried to activate and convert to the full version, so when I clicked on "Purchase key online" it opens up a browser window, but it stays blank and nothing happens after that.
Anyone else experience this problem? how do I purchase the key then if the site isn't working...
Hmm instead of going to their site to purchase just an activation code; I'd prefer to go to a store and buy the whole package (whichever you may want profession/standard etc. etc.) with media and all the stuff. But then its just me.
I have no problem with IE7. I cant get firefox to work. Web pages wont load. The settings between IE7 and firefox are the same at no proxy. I have a wireless connection without using a direct service provider. Tried uninstalling firefox and reinstalling it no luck. I notice problems with other software like housecall too. The messege I get with housecall is it says I not connected to the internet when I am. I'm using windows security xp for protection right now. What am I forgetting?

Recently I went into ADD/REMOVE Programs and I noticed that I had the following listed seperately:
Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 Service Pack 2 185MB
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.0 Service Pack 2 179MB
Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 28.05MB
I am wondering if I could not at least remove 2.0 Service Pack 2 185MB
3.5 would appear to be a supplement to 3.0 so I assume I would have to leave those two alone.
Can anyone advise me on this? I am trying to conserve space on my C drive.
You are not allowed to do that because the newer versions depend on certain older versions already installed--in the case of this program. When I was unistalling all of them I had to uninstall from newest to oldest. I tried to uninstall .NET Framework 2.0 first, but the unistaller said that other programs require this to be on the computer, thus unistallation cannot be completed. I am also quite sure that all three were installed at the same time and if this is true, then this is another indication that newer versions require certain previous versions.
one that recognizes more than 8 gb ram
What??? Am I missing something? What exactly is it that you're asking?
I just installed the latest version of Firefox 3.5. On using I got message stating that it is not compatible with Norton IPS . There does not seem to be any add on available to resolve this so I would like to know how to get the older version of Firefox - preferrably without losing all my bookmarks.
I will try to look around for the solution, but my brain is a little soggy at the moment & the panic prompted me to post here first !
Panic over !!! I engaged what little brain I have & searched the Mozilla support forums. Older versions of firefox available from the link below :-
I'm still using Firefox v3.0.11.
From Norton Community:
Firefox 3.5 was finally made available today. We have a couple defects that we had to wait for the release version before we could fix. We're going to make a couple changes and test with the final release of Firefox 3.5 to ensure the compatibility issues we discovered were indeed corrected.
There should be another update on this later on today with additional status on Firefox 3.5 compatibility.

Been trying to fix this for months...going mad.....technical genius help please
OS Version: 6.0.6002.2.2.0.768.2, doens't really tell me much.
You appear to have a hardware problem... but tracking it down is frustrating, because it could be anywhere... CPU not seated fully, some other component not installed properly... defective install... Probalby too many things to guess about here.
Suggest you do a Gurgle search for Blue Screen errors, then make yourself a list of possibilities, then check them off as you go...
I would start by checking your memory install, then remove and re-seat everything else, then consider hard drive or hard drive connection, re-installing operating system... power supply, memory module
Any component or any connection, can cause the problem... so preparing a big checklist will be helpful
If you can find a way to photograph the Blue Screen error message so you can find a way to read it all, the message itself will usually tell you where the problem is... but if you are not accustomed to reading technical junk, the photos of the error message may enable somebody else to help you.
Best way is to talk a tech-smart friend into looking it over with you.
I'm trying to install the latest version of Superantispyware. However, when I try to install it, it says there is an older version and would I like to uninstall it.
I click 'yes' but then there is some gobbledegook which says that I can't.
I've search for it but there is no trace of this old version.
How do I find it and overcome this problem?
This happened to me and this is what I did that worked. Before you try any of this, make a restore point first. Then, run regedit, do a search for the word SuperAntispyware, delete everything it finds that has that word in it. When that is finished, open Windows Explorer, go to the C drive and click on Programs. Check to see if there is still a folder there that says SuperAntiSpyware. If there is, delete it. Then run msconfig, click on startup. Look for SuperAntiSpyware, clear the checkmark, click Apply, then click on OK. Now, reboot and try it again. If it still doesn't work, go back and look for more entries in your registry. HTH
When I double click on internet explorer to go on line. It starts to show that it is connecting then it just freezes up and my laptop starts to make an awful clicking sound.
It looks like it's trying to find a site for Symantec.
I can't connect at all.
if you use a modem to dial up over a phone line this sounds like the internal modem either has a fault or cannot get a dial tone from your line. If a dial-up (not ADSL/DSL/cable)
First: try the laptop on another phone line
Second: check you are dialling the correct number
Third: Dial the number from your standard phone and listen to confirm it is connecting to another modem. If you are not sure what the noises should sound like, ask your telco for a demo (in some countries they don't do this and as you have not said where you are from.....)
As the title reads I"m having issues updating my java. After uninstalling all versions of java that I found on my system - after running the JavaRA to remove all hidden files I'm still getting the same error message which reads
" error 1714. The older version of Java 7 Update 9 cannot be removed."
Contact your technical support group.
The wizard was interrupted before Java 7 Update 9 could be completely installed. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again.
Click"ok" to exit the wizard.
I appreciate whatever help is available.
I had a similiar situation some months ago, it fixed its self the next time java had an update. Be patient, it could work for you.

Hi! In short, I have this problem. I upgraded Windows 7 to Windows 8 on my old hard disk, but now I bought a new shiny SSD and I want to do a fresh clean install there, because I have some problems that I think I can only resolve with a fresh installation. I thought it was simple, but... how do I do it? I don't have any ISO, because I did the installation with the program that Microsoft made me download (Upgrade assistant or something like that).

I have QBASIC ver 4.5, on my PC.
My son, 7th grade, is starting out in writing BASIC programs.
Can some one suggest what interpreter/compiler would be best ?
QBasic is the best beginner-level compiler IMO. I have used QBasic and GWBasic, and I find QBasic a lot better. Other great ones that have mouse support as well as MIDI support include JustBasic, PureBasic and FreeBasic.
Every time I try to open my Excite email, it quits and the session has
to be restarted or restored.
Also, the same thing happens when trying to open many PDF documents
It's really getting annoying!!
I'm ready to go back to the previous version which was largely
trouble free and did everything I wanted it to.
Anything to do to make the new version work as well as the previous one?

Looks like a bad .iso file or a bad burn. There should be some checksums for that iso somewhere you can check your file against and verify that it has been downloaded correctly.
I tried to google this, I came up with: a ton of crap about beta versions of Vista, a post on cnet saying yes, a post on cdrinfo saying no, and a download on afterdawn listing Vista in the OS list. So basically, inconclusive.
I can install it and find out, but I am always reluctant to install stuff like that because I'm not convinced that uninstalling it removes everything.
Installing Nero 7 is an option I'd like to avoid because I bought Nero 6 and would like to keep using it. If it comes to buying Nero 7 I may just skip that alltogether and use Vista's built in capability, and hope that something like CDBurnerXP Pro works with Vista.
Nero 6 OEM Bundle version does not, if I remember right. I've only built one Vista system so far, and that was nearly two months ago. I'm pretty sure I remember it getting a critical error on startup though, and my Nero 6 coaster disc would verify that. I don't know how different Nero 6 retail is from the OEM bundle, though.
In fact OpenOffice is the only program I managed to get to work with no hiccups.
Personally I really enjoyed Vista's built in burning features, I guess to each his own.
Hey I have a person's backup of Netscape mail but the new Netscape doesn't seem to come with a POP3 client, just a web mail access thing.
I don't know what version the customer was using, but I need "some" version of Netscape that I can hook her profile and mail into so she can access it.
What was the last version of Netscape that included a POP3 client? Or am I barking up the wrong tree?
PS, in case it helps, the original profile, which was in XP, was in a dir like "c:\documents and settings\user\Application Data\Mozilla\Netscape\Profiles\name\subname\user\mail"
Or something funky like that.
Alright I got it. It was Netscape 7.2. Basically the last version before the new version 8.
It can be downloaded from the main Netscape download area under Archived programs or something like that. It includes the POP3 client and through some searching I found where to put the files and now the mail is back.
I recently wiped all of my three hard drives clean including my OS harddrive by formatting them I did this through the Windows Vista Home Premium Upgrade disk and then I proceeded to do a clean installation of Windows Vista with the disk With my current OS disk the only option I have is to do a clean install because I m not upgrading my OS from a previous OS The problem I am having is that I cannot activate my Windows copy Version Upgrade Windows Issue Vista which I have days to do because of the fact that the Vista OS disk I have is ONLY for UPGRADES I don t have any Windows XP copy to install so there is no way I can upgrade back to Vista To summarize this I need some way to downgrade my OS so I can Windows Vista Upgrade Version Issue then upgrade to Vista through the Upgrade disk which is currently my ONLY OS disk If anyone has any suggestions or solutions they would be greatly appreciated nbsp
Joe, you're out of luck! You need to re-install Windows XP and then run your Windows Vista upgrade. If you still have a product key for Windows XP, you're OK, an independent computer will loan or give a copy of that version of Windows XP. It's illegal for them to give you a copy with purchasing a product key but they can without a product key.
BTW, why are you upgrading to Vista? I'd advise against it unless you actually need Vista for something. I also don't like Windows upgrade installations. Too much hassle when something goes wrong.
I have a dell xps m1710 with vista. I recently installed kubuntu 7.10 to learn how to use linux. Now, I cannot boot into vista at all, and the only way I can run kubuntu is from the cd. I think i may have not partioned correctly(possibly to one of my externals) but I don't know how to tell. I tried fdisk, and this is what I get:
[email protected]:~$ fdisk
Usage: fdisk [-l] [-b SSZ] [-u] device
E.g.: fdisk /dev/hda (for the first IDE disk)
or: fdisk /dev/sdc (for the third SCSI disk)
or: fdisk /dev/eda (for the first PS/2 ESDI drive)
or: fdisk /dev/rd/c0d0 or: fdisk /dev/ida/c0d0 (for RAID devices)
Can anyone help? I know next to nothing about linux, and it's kind of hard to learn if it isn't working right
the new drives use a dell restore thing, it consists of 3 partitions, 1 with tools 1 with the OS and 1 with ghost and a backup of the OS.
As you installed Unubtu you screwed the parttion table up however all isnt lost see this webpage
your going to need to read it fully and it does work if you have any questions read the site through, it does take some understanding but it will get you working again

I am currently in the process of resurecting several old machines to give away to needy families. Rather than be responsible for an O$ bootleg, I intend to put a free version of Linux on these machines. These machines are total dinosaurs, mostly in the neighborhood of PII 300 MHz. I just wanna give these families a basic word processor and a way to the internet. So the question is, which version of Linux is the simplest, not necessarily the best?
Hmm...Well i would have to say an older version of Red Hat on that slow beast.
Although, im sure there might be a more user friendly Linux that can run better - im just not aware of one right now.
I am actually using Windows Vista Home Premium and I would like to dualboot Ubuntu Linux 8.04 Desktop Version to it but I don't know how to do it. Can someone help me for that
Also I would like to know what can be done on Linux that is same to windows. As example playing games etc...
Thanks in advance for any help
Whenever I have installed Ubuntu, it has given me the option of if I would like to partition a disk and do an installation. I have never done it that way. Instead, I have a separate disk that I put Ubuntu on. The installation CD would show the two disks and ask which one I wanted to install on. I always had a smaller disk for Ubuntu, so identifying which one was easy. Ubuntu would do the rest, but it does make Ubuntu the default disk, and you will choose which disk you want to boot into using Linux's GRUB. You can, if you want, go into menu.lst and choose which operating system it will boot into after how many seconds have elapsed.
Ubuntu's programs can do everything the everyday user could hope to do: word processing, spreadsheets, image editing, slide shows, playing music and movies. There are games available for Linux, but not as exciting and graphically rich as those available for Windows. If you're a gamer, you won't like Linux. But for everything else, it will be a fun ride. GIMP is as close to Photoshop as you could wish, Inkscape does a nice job of doing tasks that Illustrator can do. For making brochures, books, and other published items, Scribus is a little tricky but it works well. You can record your voice or musical instruments into Audacity and make wave or OGG files. You can import Photoshop files into GIMP, Illustrator files into Inkscape (after you download some filters), and any file made in Microsoft Office. Linux is quite versatile.
I m trying to load IMT on this lovely Dell I m working with today and what you normally have to do is load first and then because it s one of those deals where one only works with the other Now is version it? insists Previous Program installed...but where I have just Program insists Previous version installed...but where is it? reloaded the machine The HD was wiped gone dead when I put XP on it but when I attempt to load so I can Program insists Previous version installed...but where is it? load it tells me that a previous version has already been installed and that I need to delete that version to load So I searched the program files the registry and then the entire Hard Drive to come up with nothing Where else can I look or what else can I do to get this program loaded because it s a mandatory program that he has to have Here s a thought We ve been having lots of problem with this XP installation on our network Could it possibly be that a lot of these programs are having problems loading becuase we have a fairly large network and we use XP Home Edition rather than Professional I ve just heard that Home isn t as Network friendly nbsp
What is IMT?
I've been using WinZip 11.1 successfully for ages, and yesterday, downloaded the free update to 11.2. Since then, I get this error message:-
"required file winzip.chm was not found in same folder as WinZip"and I can't use WinZip now....
Grateful for any advice.
i did a quick google search on winzip.chm
you can download that specific file from here: http://dodownload.filefront.com/746...667e0999a67e0802bf180809fe1c7c1855d56ccb5ea69
If you cut and paste that file into your C:/program files/winzip directory it should work.
If not, i'd recommend reinstalling the whole thing.
I've sent away for the new version of Ubuntu 8.04, not the Beta version, the complete new version. Will I encounter any problems inserting the CD to update my present Ubuntu 7.10 version and not affect my updates and present additional programs already installed? I get the feeling that when I install the CD, it will start up like a new install and format everything or am I incorrect on that assumption?
As always with an upgrade like that, do a complete backup first!
I am looking to install linux onto an old P2 333 machine, just to get familiar with it and whatnot. I am looking at various distributions of linux: Red Hat, Mandrake, SuSE, and others.
What would you consider to be the BEST distribution for an intermediate/advanced PC user? I want to use it to program in c++, possibly make a web server and ftp server, and various other tasks. This is moreso to "test drive" linux for the first time. I am vaguely familiar with UNIX.
Also, are device drivers compatible with any version of linux? I mean, with a driver for a GeForce 4 ti4600 for redhat also work on Mandrake and SuSe?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
I would choose the distro that best supports your hardware.
HEY everyone. Im downloading mandriva but wich do i need.

Recently, I have tried to play (and install) games and i can play for a while (5-15ish minutes)But then the screen screws up and the colours turn into horizontal lines followed by a bluescreen. When the computer restarts I get this :
OS Version: 6.0.6001.2.1.0.768.3
Locale ID: 2057
Additional information about the problem:
OS Version: 6_0_6001
Service Pack: 1_0
Files that help describe the problem:
I originaly thought the problem could be due to overheating (hot weather) because it was a heatwave when i started to get this, but even on a cool day i still get this issue.
0x8E errors are almost always caused by hardware and the horizontal lines sounds like artifacting which means either your video card is overheating or it is dying.
How to find and post your Minidump Files:
My Computer > C Drive > Windows Folder > Minidump Folder > Minidump Files.
It is these files that we need (not the folder). Attach to your next post the five most recent dumps. Notice the Manage Attachments button at the bottom when you go to post the next time. You can Zip up to five files per Zip; if you only have one or two you don?t need to zip them, just attach as is. Please do us a favor and don?t Zip each one individually.
My XP system was delivered with MSN Messenger 4.x. I have recently upgraded to Messenger 7.5 which seems to work fine as long as I activate it. If another contact activates it then the old 4.x version pops up and remains in the system tray. Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs shows only MSN Messenger 7.5.
Thanks for any advice.
Take a look HERE. It might help.
OptOut (final version)
Does anyone have a copy of the final version of OptOut (before it was discontinued)? (Fully functional freeware copy) ? I know about, love and use Ad-Aware. I would like a copy of OptOut also though. Can someone e-mail it to me?

I have 5 copies of windows XP Pro Full edition, but I need to do an "In Place Upgrade". Why, if the Full version costs more than the upgrade version, won't it let me do an upgrade? Is there anyway to bypass this goofiness and use my full version to do an upgrade from win98?
If I use an upgrade cd, it won't accept my full version product key. Even after upgrading with upgrade cd. I can't insert the full version product key with Magical Jellybean Key finder.
Can someone explain the rational of why the more expensive product does less than the cheaper version?
Does anybody know how to either:
1) force the full version product key after an upgrade install
2) do an upgrade with a full version disc?
I've got 5 full versions of XP pro that are worthless to me at the moment.
If you are upgrading to WinXP from Win98, then you are likely to suffer many problems and have an unstable system. If I were you, I'd reformat and do a clean install of WinXP, otherwise you may regret it at some point down the line. I'm not saying it isn't possible, but I've yet to see an upgrade from win98 to winxp that was without problems. Even if you later update all the drivers you will still find that some things won't work as expected and you may get various errors when installing some software further down the line. Do a clean install and follow this by updating to sp2 as soon as you can.
We have and old computer with MS works which has alot of documents that we wish to convert to MS word. Should we use a program to convert these files?

Not worth it to DIY. For $24.95 you get a converter to do it for you:
