Windows 7 cannot detect the built-in webcam on my Asus laptop

Q: Windows 7 cannot detect the built-in webcam on my Asus laptop

Okay so for the past several hours I ve gone through the throes of attempting to get my Asus laptop s built-in webcam to work I took a on laptop cannot Windows 7 webcam the built-in Asus detect my look at Device Manager and had found two items titled quot Base System Device quot or something to that effect I don t quite remember and I thought that one of them would be the webcam Well after searching for the mystery items Hardware ID on Google I had Windows 7 cannot detect the built-in webcam on my Asus laptop discovered that these devices were in fact not the webcam Then I had used the quot Add a Device quot option under Devices and Printers in the Control Panel to try and find the webcam After letting it churn for ten minutes it appeared that Windows wasn t even searching anymore and I was staring at a blank window for nothing The only clue I have about the situation is after running DriverEasy it listed quot USB M UVC WebCam quot as a needed update but it also said quot unplugged quot beside the selection and was highlighted in red After attempting to download and install the driver the program had given me some Packard-Bell webcam driver that is most definitely not correct Packard-Bell still exists This had all started however when I made a clean install of Windows I had just spent the last two days scouring the web digging up my lost drivers and programs that had come with the laptop Everything s been successful save for this one element My webcam is lost somewhere in my laptop I just can t get to it If anyone has any ideas as to what s happened and yes I know it s a possibility the wiring is shot and how to fix the issue please give me any tips that you can I ve done everything possible in my power including trying to find the drivers but you obviously can t install drivers for devices that Windows doesn t even detect Oh before I forget my laptop model is Asus x v B if that helps in any way nbsp

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Was this laptop purchased with Windows 7 as the OS that was installed on it ? Or did it come with Windows Vista and you just wiped it out and put Windows 7 on yourself??

Hi Guys,
Win7 (32bit) cannot find my webcam after an update. Devce manager shows it as an unidentified device. msinfo32 shows following problems:
NAVEX15 ROOT\LEGACY_NAVEX15\0000 This device is not present, is not working properly, or does not have all its drivers installed.
Unknown Device USB\VID_0000&PID_0000\5&1C78ACB5&0&5 43

This issue started with skype not being able to detect the webcam (says being used by another program)-previously uninstalling skyp and reinstalling an older version worked. not this time
Also tried reinstalling drivers from ASUS (maybe i am not using the correct one??)

my computer model is ASUS F50SV
Any help is appreciated. Need my webcam to keep in touch with my family.

Hey,

I'm really stuck and need some help!

Ages ago I loaded on windows 7 to my Packard Bell dot m-a and ever since I have not been able to use my webcam, it says that it cannot be detected.

I have tried to download the drivers from the Packard Bell website but when they load it says something along the lines of 'cannot find camera'.

I have looked through drivers but nothing is there to show a webcam or showing any problems - I never had a problem before I upgraded to Windows 7.

Any help or anything else to try would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

A:Asus Built In Webcam Is SLOW

Hello and welcome, ryanm123 .

A webcam of only 1.3 megapixels is already going to be dragging, and ontop of that you probably have lots of processes running, along with services . This could be "normal" .

I have a 0.3 megapixel camera on my laptop, actually, on both, and they work great, even with processes and services, I think I even pulled it off with Photoshop CS3 running .

What software are you using to record your work in ? Try VirtualDub, it's literally the best video editing software, except Adobe After Effects, for sure .

VirtualDub: http://www.google.com/url?q=http://w...LR4oplVPwpB6VQ

Also, what software are you using to playback your work in? If it's the same software you use to record in, I'd seriously recommend trying to playback in another media player .

I have an Asus Laptop with a built in camera.

When on skype/facebook chat I can hear the other person and the box in the top corner with myself in it, but I cannot see the other person. This is to many people, not just one so I know the issue must lie within my laptop.

When I click on >programs>lifeframe it comes up with the message " Multi Language Files are corrupted. Please re-install Life Frame 3"

but how do I do this?

Hello For the last week and a half the built in display on the Windows HP Pavilion dv i laptop which I purchased a few months ago will not display anything but a black screen There is power to the screen which stays illuminated and Display Built Detect in Laptop Cannot flashes during the correct transition times between the hp screen the bios wait and the windows start screen but there is no interface or video whatsoever I can get the video to display on an external monitor using VGA once the Windows login screen pops up but that means I can t use my laptop as a laptop or see to access the BIOS It is possible this is a problem with the CMOS preventing the laptop from recognizing the screen also on one boot the date was defaulted back into January of and I have ordered a new CMOS Laptop Cannot Detect Built in Display battery to see if that is the issue However there is enough going on to convince me that might not fix the problem due to a software issue There was one prior reboot since the Laptop Cannot Detect Built in Display problem started where the screen worked but on the next boot it was broken again In the device manager the computer only sees two Generic PNP monitors one of which is the display that does not respond instead of their proper handles In the display options I get the external monitor a HANNS-G labled properly and then the option for a VGA output monitor which I can turn on but it does not change the laptop s display The other issue is that I have the HANNS-G monitor plugged in via VGA so it makes no sense that the computer would see another VGA output when that output is already being used for the only monitor it has recognized I have tried system restore to before the issue occurred defaulting to the last windows update a few days before the problem occurred That changed nothing I tried startup repair which tried to do a system restore and then crashed I reinstalled the display drivers and BIOS flash with new versions more than once That did nothing I reinstalled the drivers again and this time the ATI driver crashed and burned when it tried to install and I had to turn off the computer after it froze It says the driver is installed correctly when I go to reinstall but now in the computer properties it does not list my video card and I cannot activate the Catalyst Control Center which allows the driver to use the card This computer has a quirky switchable graphics setup where I can save power by switching between the Radeon and an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator that runs off the processor Usually you can just click into the menu to switch the graphics the screen will flash off this crashes any playing video and makes your desktop background disappear indefinitely and the other graphics setup will run Right now it is stuck on intel For some reason I suspect that this wonky setup is somehow responsible for my screen issue but right now I am pretty lost Also just to clarify when I got the computer I reinstalled windows with a clean copy to get rid of the bloatware The reinstall went fine and it has worked well until now I activated the Administrator account and changed that to my name I ve been using that account since then even though it was not the original account my name I installed Windows with I have had two Trojans which were blocked by my antivirus programs I have kept up to date with drivers windows updates anti virus updates and other maintenance like defragmenting the drive I am a pretty heavy computer user and regularly use many different programs at the same time but I know how to use my computer carefully Thanks in advance to anyone who can help with my problem I also did a HijackThis log if that is helpful Logfile of Trend Micro HijackThis v Scan saved at PM on Platform Windows WinNT MSIE Internet Explorer v Boot mode Normal Running processes C Program Files Avast AvastSvc exe C Program Files x Common Files Apple Mobile Device Support AppleMobileDeviceService exe C Program Files x Bonjour mDN... I just got a second hand MSI CR600, everything works fine except for the webcam. It's not even detected by the computer. The computers original operating system was windows vista, but the fellow installed windows 7 on it, if it helps.

I just tried finding the webcam drivers from MSI website but it only says this "This device uses the native driver bundled in operating system." and no download file for that specific application.

A:Built-in Laptop Webcam not discovered

Presumably the previous owner wasn't bothered about the webcam being unusable.

Have a look in Device Manager (Start >> Control Panel >> Device Manager)
If you see an error symbol under "Imaging Devices", it means there is a problem (missing or corrupt driver).
Turn on Automatic Updates in Control Panel and see if Microsoft downloads a driver for it.
If there are no error symbols in the "Imaging Devices" category, and no mention of a camera or webcam, it means the webcam is faulty so Windows isn't able to detect it. Unfortunately they are not repairable unless you are an laptop electronics expert.

Often you will have a pop out menu for the camera -

try moving the mouse to the top of screen, see if a menu pops out
try moving the mouse to the left of screen, see if a menu pops out
try moving the mouse to the right of screen, see if a menu pops out

Otherwise there will be an application in programs for the web cam

whats the exact model of the laptop

One of the F keys in conjunction with the FN key at the top of the keyboard may also switch the webcam on/off

Can you see a camera symbol on any of the keys

if you hold the FN key down does a menu pop out from the top of the screen

Hello. I am new to this forum so i dont know if I've posted in the correct section.

Anyway, I have a Advent 9517 Laptop computer which has a built in 1.3mp webcam. When i first got the laptop the cam worked normal. Then after abit. something conflicted with it and the Imageing devices disappeared out of Device manager and the cam stopped working.
I have tried re installing Vista to no avail.

I have read around the net, and people are suggesting to press fn + f10 at the same time, but this also does not work.

I hope someone could help me resolve this issue.

My built in webcam just stopped working all of a sudden. I can't get it to work with Cyberlink YouCam or any other website that uses the webcam. I have a Sony Vaio model number VGN-CR120E. When I go to Device Manager and look under imaging devices, there's Sony Visual Communication Camera VGP-VCC6. There is no little exclamation mark next to it. It is enabled, and I already right clicked on it and clicked the update driver software. It told me that it does not need to be updated. I am stumped. The green light doesn't turn on, either.

What should I do?

Hi all,

About 6 months ago my inbuilt webcam on my ASUS M51SE just stopped working! I have searched and searched the net as to why but there are so many conflicting reasons.
I even wrote to ASUS support and they sent me an e-mail with a driver page to download but when I try it just doesn't work!
The webcam also does not show up in device manager...anywhere! so I can't even try to add harware.
When I run Liteframe for example (I'm running Windows Vista Home Premium SP1) it just says 'no camera device detected'.
Can anyone tell me, in VERY plain english as I'm quite a novice, what I can do to fix this? Any help would be appreciated...

A:ASUS M51SE Laptop Webcam

If the built in webcam is not detected under the device manager, it is possible that the connection or the webcam itself is damage and you will need to send it for repair. You will not be able to install the driver if the device is not being detected by the computer that it is plug in or installed.

Try to contact ASUS again and inform them that the webcam is not detected in the device manager.

A:Built in webcam drivers in Windows 2000

Hi wumply,

Win 2000 does have built in webcam drivers, but not for all kinds of webcam in the world. So the best solution is to find drivers in the web, you just know the name, the number or manufacture of webcam, that's all. Just typing the name of webcam + driver, and you will have it.

Are Lenovo built-in webcams working with the Win 10 1607 update? My T440s webcam no longer works after the 1607 update to Windows 10. There is plenty in the news about that Windows update breaking USB-attached webcams, but I'm unsure if that is the cause of my problem. It shows up as "Intgrated Camera" in the Device Manager, but the Camera app and Skype both just show a grey screen with a diagonal line though a camera icon in place of the actual camera image. The green light comes on when I try to use the camera - but no image makes it to the software. Thanks.

You need to get with HP and download drivers and software for your web cam, IF, they support this device on Windows 7.

I have a Lenovo G500s Touch computer that I bought at Best Buy in March. I noticed not long after I got it that my camera wasn't working with Skype. Not wanting to put DAYS into trying to figure it out, I waited until about a month ago to research what the problem was. (It is still under warranty) So this is about my 5th day spending most of the day trying to figure it out... nothing is working.

I have 8.1 and it can't even FIND my camera. HELP, Please.

Check Device Manager, to see if the camera is even showing in there with the driver installed. If it does not, go to Lenovo's Support site and download the correct driver for your device for the onboard camera.

A:Laptop built-in webcam showing as "USB 2.0 camera" and not working anymore

1. What's the make and exact model of your computer?
2. What version of Windows is running on the computer?
3. Have you gone to the computer provider's support site and looked for a hardware specific web cam driver?
4. The current name "USB 2.0 cam" sounds like it might be using the Windows generic driver. Open Device Manager, right click the cam->Properties then Driver tab. Who is the Driver Provider? (if it says Microsoft, that's the generic cam driver)

Hi

When chatting in skype my webcam turn on and off all the time (the indicator light turns off and on in unison with the video). Also the quality is poor. There is a lot of lag when watching myself (and also on the computer receiving the video). Seems like it's a 1 fps or something. I've checked and the driver is up to date, and I've reinstalled the virtual webcam thingy.

A:Built computer won't detect monitor.

The little black line flashing is to do with it not being able to boot in to windows.

You could try downlading Vista 32bit recovery cd, if your still running vista 32bit.

http://digiex.net/downloads/download-center-2-0/applications/956-windows-vista-32-bit-x86-recovery-disc.html

You will need to burn the file, you download, to a cd and boot from it.
With the new motherboard etc.

Try turning it on with just one RAM stick in motherboard, sometimes you have to set the RAM setting manually in bios and the voltage might not be high enougth for two sticks, or how ever many you have.

You can find out the setting by going to RAM manufacturers website.

The graphics card should go in the X16 slot, Should be a black one on your motherboard with a white latch at one end.

What some people do is put there computer together outside of the case, to rule out any shorting out etc from inside case.

If your confident doing this be sure to do this in a static free environment.

Make sure you have plugged in the 4 pin CPU power plug in to the motherboard (top right)

Did you try reseting the cmos on the new computer aswell, with motherboard battery/jumper.

Check the CPU heatsink is properly attached and check cpu temp in bios if you can.

Hey guys, so here's the thing... My webcam doesn't really work when I use ooVoo or Skype... for example, I have just downloaded ooVoo and I was told to check my webcam availability and all that, so when I tested my webcam, it didn't work. I viewed the "devices and printers" section, and clicked on my webcam icon and looked at its properties and checked its device status and it said "This device is working properly". I thought the problem was ooVoo but then I used Skype and Facebook webcam and still my webcam didn't work. I'm a total noob, so I hope you guys can help me out here. I'm using Windows 7.

And sorry for my English, it's not my first language. Thanks in advance.

It could definately be a problem. But try searching for new hardware and see if anything registers. might be a driver issue.
Also try going into control panel > system > device manager > and see if you have any yellow Question marks that might be a wrongly installed webcam or media device...

Try re-installing the webcam driver from the laptop maker's website.
However, If it's an external webcam, download the driver from the webcam maker's website.

If that doesn't work, the webcam itself could be faulty.

How you test your notebook built-in Webcam using the resources of Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bits OS?

A:Built-in Webcam Problems

Welcome to Seven forums vik1919.
In Control Panel open Devices and Printers, it should list your webcam. Right-click the icon, then Trouble Shoot and follow the prompts to test it for problems.

There may be an entry specific to the webcam in Control Panel too, it should have its own software.

http://uk.computers.toshiba-europe.c...jsp?service=UK is what i searched to get the driver you wanted but i'm wondering if its the same that you probably downloaded. although this is the european site, you can select the australian version.
I hope this is the latest one compared to what you have got already and works for you.

Microsoft LifeCam HD-5001

Microphone doesn't work at all. Depending on the installation, Device Manager says either that there are no drivers installed, or that I already have the latest driver.

Have tried firmware update, the USELESS Windows 7 Troubleshooter, and reinstalling drivers. Still no audio, and sometimes no video, saying "There is No Camera Connected to this Computer"

Had the exact same problem with Logitech C600. Any ideas?

Hello everybody For some time now almost a year I have been without a webcam And now Not Built-In and Mic Webcam Working as of last night I am beginning to have issues with my microphone Both of these components are built into my SONY VAOI VGN-AW and had worked great since the purchase Although I know an easy fix would be to go buy a new mic and or webcam I would rather be able to fix the hardware currently on my computer My main concern is the microphone Last night while on Skype with friends my microphone cut out making the device recognition sound as if I unplugged a USB drive from my laptop It stayed off for some time and then suddenly came back playing the recognition sound again as if I had just plugged it back in Now as I said the mic is built in and so clearly this is a hardware issue and I m wondering what I can do about it I am willing to open up my laptop and I Built-In Mic and Webcam Not Working have in the past after the warranty had already ended but I only know enough about the actual inside components of a Built-In Mic and Webcam Not Working computer to take out my RAM and clean my fans and heat sink I wouldn t know where to begin in order to find the microphone or the webcam One thing to note is that when the microphone goes out SOMETIMES if I lightly tap my laptop it has a chance to come back on But likewise I notice that the movement is also likely a cause to it going off So is this a matter of something simple being quot loose quot Does something just need to be reconnected Tightened Or is this beyond me and what I can do at home Will I need to take my laptop to a shop or settle for a new external mic This laptop has been amazing to me over the years and I d like to see it live for a few more with all my components still functioning so any and all help would be appreciated

A:Built-in Webcam Troubles

If the webcam device (or unknown device signified by a ?) is not listed at all in Device Manager. that usually means the actual device itself may be faulty, in which case you can overcome the problem by buying an external webcam.

If you think it's just a software or driver issue and not hardware, you may want to try re-installing the webcam driver first too see if that fixes it. Go here and click Downloads: http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp

You'll need to look on the underside of the laptop for the exact model number as there were over a dozen different models in the A500 series.

Have a look in Device Manager at Control Panel >> Device Manager.
If there's an error symbol against an "Imaging Device" or "Camera" or something along those lines it will be the camera driver you probably need to re-install.

The correct drivers for your Vaio VPCEA33FX are here:

Did you ensure the driver was the 64-bit version?

If it definitely was the correct driver, it's possible the actaul webcam has failed. A driver won't install if the related device has failed to the point where the system (and therefore the driver) can no longer detect it.

ok so code 43 is always generated when there is a hardware or software issue( which you have already try to install) usually by doing a cold shutdown of your computer or taking the battery out for some few seconds does correct it but if all that is not fixing it try disabling the device in control panel or you can roll back to the previous driver and allow windows to scan for hardware changes.one question did you do any changes to the computer before this started happening?
