I made a Google notebook to keep the minutes of a meeting my business partners and I held last weekend. I made them all collaborators on the notebook so they could all make any changes or annotations they felt necessary. However, when they go to access this notebook they are prompted for a password.
There is nowhere (at least that I can find) to even choose to password protect the notebook let alone change the password. I'm pretty confused as to what password the notebook could be. The only thing I can think of is that it's asking for the password to my gmail account, which I don't really want to be handing out. Any ideas on this one gang?
I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.
I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.
You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)
new notebook, set it up and worked great, is asking for a password at startup, one I entered is wrong apparently and won't let me change it...frustrated as this is a brand new system, am lost herekind regardscloe1
Probably the best way is to start over-do a System Recovery to wipe everything out and start fresh. See the very last entry on the page -"Recovery when Windows does not start correctly".http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04758961http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Password-wrong-to-access-notebook-laptop/td-p/5655711

Bill_Ving Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about wireless networking poor performance and wanted to help. My immediate guess is that you might have mixed-mode networking going on. This happens when you have two different PCs networking in two different modes -- one using "G", the other using "N". The wireless router (or access point) can optimize performance for either mode, but not for both. So, the "G" mode drags down the performance of the "N" mode PC, but even worse, with the router set for mixed modes, it performs more slowly than with either PC connected by itself. Here are some other troubleshooting steps you can try: HP PCs - Troubleshooting Wireless Network and Internet (Windows 8) | HP® Customer SupportGood Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------Please click "Accept As Solution" on the post that solves your issue to help others find the solution. Please click the Thumbs-Up symbol on the left of the Reply button to say thanks fopr my help.========================================================================http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Wireless-and-Networking/ENVY-Notebook-m7-k111dx-w-intel-7260-notebook-sucks-down/td-p/5591130

My own notebook (Asus EEE PC S101), running Windows XP service pack 3) was twice redirected to an unknown website when I wanted to visit the Guardian newspaper website. I was using IE version 8. Then the notebook froze. When this happened, I had to switch it off without using Cleanup, which I have used safely for a long time. When I had switched it on again, I used Firefox to go to the Techsupport Forum. I followed the instructions to download dds.scr and began running it. Then the notebook froze again. It still tells me "Two logs shall be created on your desktop" Now the cursor does not move any more either. I write this from another notebook, but I cannot create a logfile,m as everything is frozen on my own notebook. Help, please,

We've got a desktop hooked into a linksys B router, and a notebook that accesses the internet wirelessly thru that router. lately we havent been able to get a decent connection with the notebook, and if we've gotten any at all, it gets dropped soon. is the desktop getting the majority of the bandwidth, which is eliminating the notebook from getting enough? if so, is there anyway to limit the amount that the desktop is getting?
What changed from when it was working to now?
New here and so I hope that I am posting in the correct place My new notebook an M -MX was in the warranty depot as we thought it had a dvd burning problem however that was not the case it was the media Anyway before it was sent into the toshiba warranty depot the level tech phone support said to get the computer to be like it was when I unboxed it days earlier new and old with now notebook ghost problems?? notebook Ghosted this was last month And so to my frustration all of my programs were removed however before doing this the software techie at the office Ghosted it to my Western Digital Storage Unit and then sent it off to the Warranty Depot While it was in the shop I used my yr old toshiba satellite which I am now typing on at this moment I was finally able to get the software tech from the office to reGhost my new toshiba new notebook Ghosted with old notebook ghost and now problems?? M on this past Saturday and left it with him for a couple of hrs and then returned to pick it up as there was not much in the way of programs on it and so it wouldn t take long to Ghost the Images back Well in my Western Digital Storage unit are Ghosts of this year old satellite that I am presently using After the techie new notebook Ghosted with old notebook ghost and now problems?? got my Restore Disk installed and tried to reGhost the image onto the New M it crashed He was using the wrong Ghost he new notebook Ghosted with old notebook ghost and now problems?? was using the one that was from this unit I was not happy especially after he claimed that he now had it Ghosted with the proper Image and I tried it out and it was very sloooooow to Boot He said it was my Norton I keep a log and had brought it with me and showed him how long the Boots took before it was sent off to the Warranty Depot with all the few programs that I had installed on it He had been doing other work and coming back to my unit while it was Ghosting and when it was finished I also asked him to plug in my gig SanDisk flashdrive and he went into My Computer and clicked on the drive and it simply hung there with the Timer showing Needless to say I am not happy and am wondering if the fact that he Ghosted the wrong image from my year old Satellite on it could have done any damage He said he would call me this AM and hasn t so I left a message with him I used my USB SanDisk before and there were no problems now he is trying to tell me that this drive has a peculiar install program that can cause problems I googled for it and found nothing I talked to the computer retailer a small outlet that I frequent and they indicated that it is simply plug and play Why the tech mentioned a problematic install program is beyond me as all i was trying to do was read the contents Is there a possibility that this notebook has been damaged by trying to Ghost this satellite to it He did do a full disc system restore the second time he did the Ghost Imaging however the computer is acting SlOOOOOOOOw to boot the SanDisk simply hangs there with the timer showing I would appreciate any comments as I am frustrated as to what is going on here I mean I would assume a techie would label the Ghost image with a name so that he knew which computer it belongs to Thankyou for your time nbsp
Something you might want to try (it's a pita) is a repair of windows - this may fix some of the slowness issues you're seeing. The install program he's talking about is probably the U3 component of many larger USB pen drives. I think it's on most of Sandisk's newer large drives. A repair of windows might also take care of this. I seriously doubt that putting the wrong image on the machine and then putting another image on could do any damage to the machine itself - the folks here at my job do it all the time.
My wife has a two-year-old Samsung notebook. Recently when she unplugged it the machine cut off, even though the battery said 79% charged (it wouldn't charge any further). I figured that the battery was bad so I bought another one from Amazon.
This one charges to 100% percent and does exactly the same thing. I'm perplexed but think there's something going on with the motherboard that won't let it use battery juice, even if Windows 8.1 says it's 100% charged.
I've tried the hold the power button down for 1 min with the battery out trick to no avail.
Any ideas? I'm stumped and think I might need to get her another notebook.
I put in the password. But it goes right back to another log in window. No error messages. I can not log in

Hy, I have now spend more then 20 hours searching for a solution to reset my bios password. I forgot the password as it my old laptop and I need to login to bios to adjust few things. First thing I did was pulling out the cmos battery, the date and time is reset but bios password survives. I tried unlock 6 based on my system hash code 03377 with no luck. Does anyone have any suggestion what else could I do ?
There is a password that cannot be reset by normal means built into the CMOS as an anti-theft measure. There are options on how to reset this password but it is tricky. The best thing you can do is to contact HP support to get it reset.
I bought new hp laptop with vista 2 weeks back, i forgot the administrator password i dont know how to recover even i brought to computer shop they said its needs to reinstall the operating system

Suddenly today when I boot my laptop, it asked for "POWER-ON PASSWORD" ? I have no clue what it is and I am unable to get in. Model: HP 2510P OS Windows 7 (32) Please help. Thank you.
Hi, Unfortunately, business machines have more stringent security than consumer models - they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial No. and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case. If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password. Acer Aspire ONE 722-BZ197
The problem is:
I could have "sworn" that I created a password that I would not have a problem with! I even created a password hint for it! However, upon restarting the notebook, I came to find out that my password was incorrect. I am now locked out of a $319 dollar notebook and I am about to cry me a river.
Before anyone bombards me with a bunch of technical lingo, please understand that I am an absolute noob to computers and I would require troubleshooting information that would make sense to practically anyone.

I didn't add a password (although my daughter is not sure if she did accidentally). We've tried ever password we could think of and none worked. I called Dell and they pretty much said they can't help me. Can anyone help me get past this problem? I do not care about the contents on the computer any more. I just want to be able to use it. thanks for any help you can offer.

Hi, At the password screen, hit enter 3 times and you should receive a 'halt code' - post back with this code. Regards, DP-Khttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/Bios-password-reset-on-a-notebook-15-f128ca/td-p/5804021

Im not sure if 32 or 63 bit. It wants me ti enter Admin password or Power on Password.
Hi: Type any password you want 3 times, and the PC should generate a system disabled (halt) code. After you get the halt code, see the first post at the link below for how to get an unlock code to enter, so you can get access to your PC. There are also steps to clear the password. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-Sy?stem-and-Recovery/System-Halt-Error-Message-or-BIO?...http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Boot-and-Lockup/bypass-hp-administratior-password-hp-2000-notebook-pc/td-p/5414273
I vaguely recall that a few years ago, I may have registered that password with a HP rep over the phone, after buying it new. Recently, I left HP an email asking if their records show this. Or how to simply 'reset' a new startup password. HP hasn't responded yet. So I'm asking here please for advice. Including if my (mnimal) personal data may simply be erased; rather that having to erase and reinstall computer programs. Its been quite awhile since I UPDATED IE 8. Would it be easier to install IE 10 instead? Please ask me for any needed details. Thanks good thinkers!
@ThanksThinkers? When asked for the password just hit enter 3 times. Post any code you receive. REOhttp://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/LOST-STARTUP-PASSWORD-for-Pavilion-17-e119wm-notebook/td-p/5806132

Hi guys, I need help on how to remove the bios password on Acer Aspire notebook. I want to format the hdd but the boot sequence is hdd first. Or how can I go about it?
I will be grateful if a kind hearted felow can assist on this. I'm still stuck with the challange of removing the IBM 390x bios password removal.
are you sure acer offer a bios password from the factory??
s far i've ben dealing with lots of travelmate and aspire but no one has a bios password in it....
anyway, try to go to : Acer eManager.
it's the similar way to go to bios, but instead in the windows version i suppose...
I had very low local hardrive space (300mb) and disk clean wasn't working. So I did a full reset,it failed at 66%.I then turned on my pc and it asked for the power on password, which I entered,it went to the hp loading screen, but then again asked for the power on password(does this repeatedly). So I then tried entering the bios after the power on password and it asked for my admin password, mine didn't work? Please can u help me. I would really like it to be able to reset and use my laptop again.Could using hard reset do the trick,if so how do you do it on my laptop?
After entering incorrect password 3 times you should get a message System disabled and a Halt code. Post that Halt code here to get a passcode for Admin password.http://bios-pw.org/http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Software-and-How-To-Questions/Hp-notebook-stream-14-stuck-on-power-on-password-display/td-p/5758626
I work on wireless network at home. I am the only one who SHOULD have access to my computer, but my boyfriend has router and I've found KEYLOGGER in the past on my old laptop. I bought this ENVY notebook for the fingerprint security. Well somehow within days all I have to do is put in a password and bypass the fingerprint security all together.HOW DO I TAKE THE PASSWORD OPTION OFF AND ONLY HAVE THE FINGERPRINT MODE TO ACCESS COMPUTER?
@Palumbo? You do not want to depend only on the fingerprint reader as your only means of logging into the computer. Fingerprint software and or the scanner can fail on occasion -- and ask anyone who has ever locked themselves out of the computer for lack of a usable password; a locked up computer is not a good situation. The situation you describe, that of perhaps having to fear a key logger attack from someone whom you know, is unfortunate. You might consider, if you are able to do so, that a decent Security software can help protect your computer from invasive malware, viruses, and even an attack by keylogger. Avast (Free) Security is a good software - of course, there are others, too. Consider that if you can afford to purchase the upgraded version of any Security package, you will get better protection from different types of attack. You can change the password, of course. You can assign a PIN number in the event the fingerprint scanner fails to let you log in. PIN number must still be typed at the keyboard, of course -- perhaps the only advantage is that the person must be in possession of your computer to use the PIN (each PIN is for only that computer). If you can keep the computer away from the person having hacked the PIN, you can keep them from using it to log into your computer remotely. Other Experts may have additional (or different) advice to offer. Good Luck. I couple of months back my win 7 32-bit notebook was infested with FBI Moneypak virus. I tried a number of removal tools that failed to removed it. Eventually the symptoms disappeared after I did a restore the previous restore point. Within a week I was hit by the google redirect. This made me think that the two may be related.
I googled the web and found ComboFix. In my haste to rid the redirect virus I unwitting downloaded and ran it, only later to find this forum that said I should not have run it.
At the mean time I have been spread very thing in my life to deal with it until now. Fortunately I have a desktop which I do most of my work on. I would appreciate if you can help me remove it.

I just had my toshiba satellite pentium xp-sp mobile processor RAM gigs into the authorize warranty depot for a replacement of the mouse pad as the warranty was almost up It is now over this was May I had called a week and a half earlier however they said toshiba notebook? can't bios after warranty password replace mouse pad replacement of the parts were delayed and did not arrive until the day before my warranty was up I can't replace bios password after warranty replacement of mouse pad toshiba notebook? had to go in for medical surgery directly after and did not use the computer until this past week and noticed when I took can't replace bios password after warranty replacement of mouse pad toshiba notebook? the notebook down to my software techie who was removing Norton Systemworks for me as I don t how to do it cleanly that my BIOS password was not in place He tried to replace it however it would not set I phoned the warranty depot and I am not a tech oriented person and know little about BIOS and I should say that my software techie called them as can't replace bios password after warranty replacement of mouse pad toshiba notebook? well I should say that I have used this software techie since I have owned the computer and he knew that I had a BIOS password and so he discussed the issue with the warranty depot tech who replaced my mouse pad The tech replied that he did not touch my main board and thus it was not his fault and he told my software techie to have me call him which I did I told him that I noticed that he did not boot my computer in front of me when he had me test the mousepad that he brought out my notebook from the back room repair station and had me check out the mouse pads which worked fine and then he also mentioned that he had looked at my PCMCIA slot pins visually and used the air duster on it but could see no issues I mention this as I advised him via phone before I went to have the mouse pads replaced that I had just recently had a problem with the PC card not recognizing my hardware and so I asked him to check it as the warranty was nearing its end I should also comment that the PC card was working when I took it into the shop and so we discussed the fact that I may not have seated the card in the slot so that there was a good contact and that was the end of the discussion Since I did not use my notebook due to my health until last week I had no realization that the BIOS password was not working On the phone he said I must have possibly had the computer near moisture which I definitely did not He admitted that he had not seen a notebook so free of dust in the openings and in overall such good shape as he indicated he sees so many with food etc on them and my computer was in excellent condition as he put it I told him I am an accountant and don t eat around my computer etc and I also use the air duster compressed air on it weekly into all the openings and have for the past years that I have owned it Now the warranty depot says that my main board likely has an issue with the BIOS chip and that they charge hr and that the board will cost - I had to pull teeth to get documentation on the work that was done under warranty and noted that the mouse pad part was quot Used quot and the area where quot Condition quot was categorized was quot blank quot But that was after I got the computer back to work as I was in a hurry when I left I never thought that I should have had him boot the computer when I was there He says there is no quot jumper quot on this notebook whatever that is and that he did not disconnect anything that my main board coincidentally must have given out right after I left his shop He claims that there was no BIOS password on the unit and I told him it was working when I booted my notebook an hour before I brought it to this Toshiba authorized depot There are no updates for the BIOS on this notebook as my software techie checked for this on Toshiba s Support site and he tried again to put in m... Hi There are lots of options, and I don't know what will suit... First look for Windows Accessories Charmap, then you can copy from there. Secondly there are lots of internet sites to give specific key combinations, like the ALT key and a 4 number code, http://symbolcodes.tlt.psu.edu/accents/codealt.html ¯ is obtained from, on this keyboard ALT + 01754© is ALT + 0169 _ is ALT + 0095 _ You can of course put then into a reference document and copy and paste when you wish. Generate in a spreadsheet,CELL A1 =char(row()+32) then drag it down to row 223 this will give the complete listing. Drag across to CELL Z223 and it will fill up with 26 sets of the listing, then select your column and change the font to A is Arial then column B Braggadacio, column C Courier etc etc then copy and paste whenever needed.

I am running windows xp home sp2 on a 5 year old HP Pavillion Notebook. It has an Intel pentium 3.06ghz, 512mb ram.
I can hear the clicking of the harddrive being accessed even when I do not have any applcations running. It will be silent for a couple of seconds, click for a couple of seconds and repeat.
I have stripped down start up thru msconfig, leaving zone alarm, and a couple of other essentials.
I am connected wirelessly through my home network.
Why won't this thing sit still?

HP Pavilion dv series DV EA to be exact where my CPU seems to be seriously overheating while playing games that Can't access fan controll on HP DV4000 series notebook. don t really require that much processor speed Now i noticed that my current cpu-fan works quite at a slow RPM rate and i d like to speed it up as this i think would definitely solve the overheating problem The problem is that i tried various software programs like FanSpeed NHC and the like and NONE of them can detect my fans because both tell me that my ACPI is not configured They can detect the temperatures and stuff like that but can t access or detect fans My idle CPU temperature is anywhere from - C and when playing games it rises rapidly up to - C where my FSB automatically drops by half thus slowing down performance and drastically reduces playability of the game Or sometimes the computer just plainly reboots Now the ONLY reason i can think of why my ACPI is not configured is because i changed the default BIOS that came with the system with the new and supposedly supported PhoenixBIOS version Now when i go and check BIOS there is absolutely NOTHING i can change The only interactable things in bios are checking temperature doing quick scans of my HDD and turning bluetooth USB on off that s it So should i restore my previous if rather old year bios and see if that helps or is there some other solution to controlling my CPU speed My current bios is Phoenix Version F where it says that ACPI is supported and enabled Also one other thing i used NHC to reduce my cpu voltage by like and it runs smooth as hell But it STILL hasn t reduced my overheating problem not by a longshot Just reduced a few degrees As a sidenote I m used to running Quake and stuff on this PC on maximum graphics with no problem now it seems it s overheating Maybe it s getting crummy and dusty inside but the warranty is in effect and i don t wanna disassemble and clean it since i m not that good with notebook hardware Here are my computer specs if anyone s interested and if they ll help some info might be irrelevant Vendor Hewlett-Packard Name Pavilion dv ES EA UUG Motherboard Chipset Intel Alviso i PM System Memory MB DDR - DDR SDRAM Memory Timings - - - CL-RCD-RP-RAS is that bad can it be more effective Processor Mobile Intel Pentium M J MHz x x Family Model Stepping External clock Hmz Voltage V Legacy Mode Yes Video Adapter ATI MOBILITY RADEON X Omega MB Audio Adapter Intel FBM ICH -M - AC Audio Controller B- Disk Drive FUJITSU MHV AT PL GB RPM Ultra-ATA Optical Drive TSSTcorp CD DVDW TS-L M DVD R x DVD RW x x DVD-RW x x DVD-ROM x CD x x x DVD RW DVD-RW Network Adapter Realtek RTL x Family Fast Ethernet NIC Oh and my CPU Alias says for some reason quot Dothan quot but it s not it s something starting with S forgot The solution i m looking for is someone suggesting some other fan speed controll software that might work for HP or something HP-specific or some other solutions of controlling fan speed and generally reducing heat I don t care about the sound the fan will make as long as it will work FAST and COOL Or any helpful solution that might help my HP notebook to generally increase performance and reduce heat Well that about sums up the gist of my problem In short i want to make the fans go FASTER Hope someone will take the time to read through and try to help me and thank you in advance for your valuable time nbsp
Oh yeah, or a solution to configure ACPI
Hi! I have bought the laptop and have installed windows 10, now the problem is. when i try to access the bios settings thru the advanced startup it just hangs at the black page which should have the blinking bar at the upper left. (the black page after pressing f10 for bios settings). Help please.http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Operating-System-and-Recovery/HP-Pavilion-15-p081tx-Notebook-PC-can-t-access-bios/td-p/5682046
So here is my issue:
I got a laptop that had been dropped and want to recover data from the disk. It looks like it was dropped hard on the corner that holds the HDD (assumed from dent in corner.) I purchased a converter to hook the HDD up via USB (using Coolmax Combo Converter.) I have used it before to gather information from other HDDs but this time no go, all I hear is a faint whirling, clicking sound. I tried using diskmgmt.msc and windows explorer and it wasn't detected.
Is it a new paper weight? Or is it possible to gain access/test through another method?

I have a wireless router, but i don't have a wireless card for the notebook. it's wired to a linksys wireless-g router. when i check the network connection, it tells me it's sending packets but not receiving. i know the router is working b/c that's what i'm using for my home computer currently. i know how to access the router options but now how to configure it to accept the notebook's connection.
help would be much appreciated ^.^
SORRY--I ORIGINALLY TITLED THIS AS AN HP That was two computers ago this one is a nbsp HP Notebook - -f dx ENERGY STAR nbsp Not sure this is where it belongs The first results of what I thought was a narrow Google search had nothing matching this and a lot of lockup after password results nbsp While working on the computer including actively typing the screen will blink black for at least a full second then password HP screen then Notebook appea... 15 goes black, screen come back to wherever I was before Then a few seconds later it blinks again and the password screen appears nbsp The machine is well-ventilated and it not doing any processor-intensive gaming stuff nbsp HP 15 Notebook screen goes black, then password screen appea... It is similar to a screensaver re-login Pressing enter after the password returns me to the same place almost instantly nbsp This has continued even after I have done at least two each virus scan Avast malware scan Malware Bytes and spyware scan SuperAntiSpyware nbsp There's also plente of gigs of space left on the hard drive gigs of RAM and Task Manager says there's still unused memory and the processor is somewhere less than occupied nbsp So what gives nbsp Thanks

My dell notebook crashed!!! When i turn it on all i get is the dell screen, followed by a black screen!!! Someone Please help because Dell sucks at customer service!!!!! What should i do?
Try tapping f8 as soon as you power on the computer.
My son has a dv9819wm notebook and it started having lines running across the screen and you could not see to do anything but would have to turn off and restart. I read on the HP site that the Bios and the video driver needs to be updated so I was going to do that but now, it will start booting up and you can see fine, but then the screen goes blank before you can get logged in to do anything. Then it shuts down. Please help.
At what point does the screen go blank? Are there lines on the screen even when it's booting up, or was that only previously, before it started going blank? And it shuts down EVERY time, on it's own?
Check if you can see anything on the screen when you hold it close to a light - look very close for even the faintest image.
Has anybody experienced this? On boot-up, I get the error 3F0. A hard drive test passes, and I've tried other HD's. I have tried changing the BIOS to Legacy, but it will not boot from a memory stick which I've made bootable, nor will it boot from the dvd drive. I can hear the dvd spinning, and can hear it trying to read it, but I get a flashing cursor on a black screen. I've come to the conclusion that it's the motherboard (DA0U93MB6D2 REV D PN 732080-001 ). Any suggestions? Thank you in advance
