Preferred Solution: AIM keeps closing when I open it.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

When I close IE, another window pops up and tries to send me to another site.....this site is listed below.
Being very careful, I have never allowed this site to open fully, so I don't know if it will or will not open.

I just recently went through a virus cleanup that I got by opening a link in MSN Messenger.

On start up, I would get the message about not finding logon.exe and managed to get that issue resolved thanks to this forum.

Now I would like to eliminate this redirection to the below site after closing any IE page.

I am about a 3, on a 1 to 10 scale of computer savvy so go easy on me please!!!

Running XP pro, IE 7.

Hello and welcome please run these next. I feel we can fix this quickly. If you have Spybot installed temporarily disable it.Next run ATF:Note: On Vista, "Windows Temp" is disabled. To empty "Windows Temp" ATF-Cleaner must be "Run as an Administrator".Please download ATF Cleaner by Atribune & save it to your desktop.Double-click ATF-Cleaner.exe to run the program.Under Main "Select Files to Delete" choose: Select All.Click the Empty Selected button. If you use Firefox browser click Firefox at the top and choose: Select AllClick the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt. If you use Opera browser click Opera at the top and choose: Select AllClick the Empty Selected button.
If you would like to keep your saved passwords, please click No at the prompt.Click Exit on the Main menu to close the program.Next run MBAM (MalwareBytes):NOTE: Before saving MBAM please rename it to zztoy.exe....now save it to your desktop. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the definition updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. Be sure to post the complete log to include the top portion which shows MBAM's database version and your operating system.Exit MBAM when done.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be asked to reboot your computer so MBAM can proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

I am running vista ultimate x64. The 32bit version of IE7 is opening and closing instantly. The 64bit version appears to be working... So far I've tried resetting all browser settings removing all add ons.

I finally broke down and ran hijack this. Would someone take a look at my log? Just wanted to know before I post it.

Thanks in advance!

Have you scanned for a virus? I am sure that will shut down as well if you are infected.

You have an outdated version of HijackThis.

Please click here to download and install version 2.0.2 of the HijackThis Installer.

Run it and select Do a system scan and save a logfile.

The log will be saved in Notepad. Copy and paste the log in your next post.

Do not fix anything

First off I am wondering if there is a possibility that this is a MySpace bug as opposed to an issue with IE as MySpace is the ONLY website I've been able to replicate this problem with But There seems to be an issue on my wife's Vista account where she can cause an infinite number of IE screens to open This happens when she tries to close IE while her MySpace page is being displayed I have played around with several variables here to try to narrow down the root cause as best I can Here is what I have determined - There must only be one tab If there are two or more tabs in IE the quot bug quot will not appear - This bug appears regardless of what MySpace profile is loaded tried with both my profile and hers - This bug appears ONLY on my wife's Vista account I have not been able to replicate the bug on either my own Vista account or the default Administrator account - The bug only appears when you close Internet Explorer while on MySpace If you navigate away from MySpace prior to closing no bug Initially I thought this could be a MySpace issue since it only happens while using MySpace However the fact that it happens only on my wife's Vista account tosses a monkeywrench into that theory If it was an IE issue I would think it would appear on sites other than just to Closing IE infinite causes windows open. MySpace - and I made a point of testing on sites with a variety of dynamic content to see Closing causes infinite IE windows to open. if that was a cause No luck Finally I ran the usual package of spyware malware scanners AdAware Spyblaster etc etc and came up relativley empty tracking cookies and that's about it Any situation in which you get the infinite opening windows bug error etc is always a bad thing imo but to only have it happen under what seems to be a perfect storm of conditions has got me puzzled Obviously there are a number of viable workarounds for this issue of course this also includes the traditional killing the iexplorer exe process from task manager However a problem is a problem and I would rather solve an issue than use a workaround especially if its indicitave of a bigger problem like malware etc Thanks in advance for any insight you could give -Eric

Recently, when I close out of a program there is quite a bit of delay in closing and it looks like one is pulling the blind down as it closes slowly. My CPU does not seem to be running high and I seem to have plenty of ram. I have run my ad-ware, spyware, and norton anti-virus and find no proelem. Any idea how to fix this? I have rebooted a bouple of times also.
Thanks for any help you can give.

I'm set up to run folder windows in a separate instance of Explorer for better stability. But now I'm having problems. When I close all the windows for the second instance of Explorer, the process frequently does not terminate. So then when I try to open another folder window, nothing happens. I have to quit Explorer manually to get it working again. This has happened several times now, and I'm getting tired of it. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I'm running XP MCE 2002 Edition, all the latest updates.

A:Explorer.exe hangs instead of closing, folders won't open.

Explorer uses up a lot of resources and your method may not be best suited if those, particularly memory, is in limited supply.

You might try doing a "system restore" to a date when there were no problems; these can be undone.

Most problems I've had with explorer disappear on a reboot.

But you can test in Safe Mode and also test using a "clean boot" method of troubleshooting.

CLEAN BOOT TROUBLESHOOTING technique

First, restart in Safe Mode if necessary -- (tap the f8 key promptly on startup and choose the Safe Mode option from the boot menu) or Normal mode

Then:

Run msconfig and select the "Services" tab. Check "Hide Microsoft Services" and then disable the rest. Also uncheck "load startup group" on the general page.
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/929135 << written for Vista, but applies equally well to XP

Now restart and test the issue at hand

If no problems, run msconfig and recheck half the disabled items on the Services tab. Test again. If the problem recurs, UNcheck half the items you just checked to narrow down the culprit.

If the problem didn't occur, check the other half, so all the Services are enabled -- proceed to do this on the startup tab as well.

Get the idea? You want to isolate the problem to a specific startup if possible.

Note: if you already have items unchecked under msconfig > startups and are in “selective” startup mode – you should note what these are before beginning. They will need to be de-selected again.

I click on "Libraries", then "Pictures" then a folder in the "Pictures" folder. What I want to do is then open a second (third, fourth) folder so that I can move images between them without the previous one closing.

I feel I am missing a simple step and look forward to your helping me correct this delimma.

You can right-click on a folder and go to 'Open in new window'.

I just had to reinstall Windows XP Home and all the updates on a new hard drive. I am running antivirus and spyware software. I am having an intermittant problem (every few minutes) when I try to close or minimize Internet Explorer windows or other open application windows. The mouse and keyboard freeze up. When I hit Ctrl-Alt-Del and click twice to close the Task Manager window everything frees up and I am then able to close the other offending window but it is annoying to constantly having to do this. I had this problem about a year ago and if I recall correctly, I found a download on one of the Internet computer forum sites that solved the problem. My chances of finding that again are probably slim to none. Has anyone experienced this particular problem and have a solution.

Thanks much.

Hello, all?

I use TeamViewer frequently to assist others, but too often when I click to close an open, maximized window on the remote PC, I inadvertently click the Close "X" of the open, maximized TeamViewer window...which closes the session and breaks the connection. (I know that care will prevent the problem...but the Close "X" icons of a maximized window inside another window are one directly below the other.)

Is there any Windows 7 option/add-on/util that can require me to do something extra?beyond just clicking the Close "X"?to close a specific open window on my PC? (E.g., set a window so that it requires Ctl+click to close.)

Have searched the forums and Web at large, w/o success. Thx in advance for any ideas.

A:Windows Explorer closing down whenever I open any files in My Document

Hi all,

I thought I would follow up with my findings and solution to my Windows Explorer nightmare as I am quite pleased with myself for persevering and fixing it. It was right under my nose all along but it was just knowing how to go about it.

Basically, "Event Viewer" gave me all the information I needed. In the event tree I clicked on "Windows" then "Applications" which gave a list of apps with either a blue info icon to the left of the information, an exclamation mark in red for error or a yellow exclamation mark for warning. There were plenty of red error icons which I hoped would be logs of Windows Explorer closing down, and sure enough they were. On following the "Failing Application Path" c:\program files\ASUSWSShellExt64.dll I found the highlighted shell extension, Which is basically Asus Web Storage. I promptly uninstalled the program and have had no crashes whatsoever, yee haaaaa!

Hope this helps someone else someday as it almost blew my brains out

Martin.

As many have already mentioned in other threads, Inspiron 5547 used to make click sound while closing/opening the laptop. 2 days ago, I found the right corner edge has popped open.
Laptop is now out of warranty but this seems to be manufacturing defect as this has been common complaint from so many people over a constant period of time.
Can someone please let me know what is the course of action?

I am also facing the same hinge problem and luckily now I saw this post. As everyone mentioned I was just closing and opening my laptop and the right side popped open suddenly yesterday.
The replies from dell were exactly same as for other people $159 for the repair and this is an accidental damage. I am surprised with so many posts over 1 year they have not done anything to rectify this problem
According to me they should retake all the laptops sold and should not release this model until this problem is fixed.
Please let me know if anyone else is successful in overcoming this issue.

Thanks

Hi,
Thank you for writing to us with your feedback .
There are no inherent issues with the systems. All the systems that are boxed go through a quality check .
From looking at the pictures posted and i have also checked with my product team this is clearly falls under accidental damage and not covered under basic warranty .
Thanks

Please advise.

I have tried to search for this problem and haven't found any other reference. I have tried virus, malware & spyware scans and seem to be clear of such. I am running Windows XP Home Edition, Version 2002, Service Pack 2. Laptop is Toshiba Satellite, Intel Pentium 1.50 MHz, 2.00 GB RAM. All of my programs seem to work and I have no problems with internet access or speed. It is very annoying and, if I am typing, I miss letters or spaces if the flashing of the command prompt window opens and closes. It never stay open long enough for me to read any text so I can't tell you what is going on. Just in the time I have been typing this, the event has happened 10-12 times. I would really appreciate any help. I have tried "System Restore" but get a "Failure to Restore" message for all of the restore points I have tried.

A:Black "command prompt" windows keep flashing open & closing immediately

Hello let's do this to stop the screen so you can read it and post the error.. Then do an MBAM scan and post a log.Click on Start, then right click on My Computer.Scroll and select Properties, then choose Advanced tab.Under Start up and Recovery click Settings. Under System Failure uncheck Automatic System Restart. Now when the BSOD occurs the screen will stop and you can write the complete error down to post.Next run MBAM:Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (v1.36) and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2If you have a previous version of MBAM, remove it via Add/Remove Programs and download a fresh copy.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself.Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. Alternatively, you can update through MBAM's interface from a clean computer, copy the definitions (rules.ref) located in C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from that system to a usb stick or CD and then copy it to the infected machine. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.

A:BSOD when resizing/closing World of Warcraft, also when closing Chrome

Hi Haxiel.

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

A:Slow browser, IE closing, Outlook and Yahoo closing

Hi Elise,
thank you. I ended up getting rid of PC Tools Internet Security and switching to AVG Basic Free. I think most of the major problems went away.
Yahoo has stayed up, Outlook has stayed up, browser seems to work quickly, facebook didn't have floating text and pictures anymore, was able to do some posting, sent some large emails. But, and not exactly sure, IE has frozen up, but not as often. The dds program you had me run this morning froze and I had to do a hard shut off, task mgr didn't respond and the weirdest thing of all, the clock stopped. Can't say I have ever seen that. So I am not sure what exactly is going on, if it really is malware or some setting is messed up. I wasn't able to run video on a site last night. Major improvement since I got rid of PC tools, but not quite right. Sorry, nontechie.

Obvious to anyone. You have three malware apps running live at the same time. You have Avast, Kaspersky, and AVG.

You need to remove them all and install Microsoft Security Essentials AT LEAST TO TEST.

If you continue to crash even after removing them upload the DMP file as you have old drivers that need updating.

I have searched to see if this was asked before without any success. Maybe someone has run into this problem before.
When I open "my computer" or "control panel" after I close it...it automatically goes into Internet Explorer as a blank page. Most of the time, when I close the IE blank page...it stops responding and I have the control-alt-delete to "end the program"
Thanks in advance for any help.

A:Action center won't open, Internel Explorer only browser that will open, no MalwareBytes and RKill will not open

An update.

I've tried running MalwareBytes and RKill from a flash drive which is also not working. Windows also ends up unable to load, the startup repair runs and things work fine. Not long after Windows tries to update and then it becomes unable to load again and the startup repair runs again.

I tried running a registry fix for the .exe problem and I get an error stating that the registry is being used even when no programs are running and I am in safe mode.

Hope this information helps
thanks

Hi

I have a DVD on which I recorded a number of important items using a dedicated DVD machine. I did not "close" the DVD because I wanted to add further material.

In the meantime the DVD machine (which is out of warranty) has died leaving me with an "open" DVD which I cannot access using my computers.

Does anyone know of a way in which a DVD can be "closed" if the machine on which it was recorded is no longer available?

Thanks

T.

Hey.. Im a "retro gamer" and i downloaded a game called Doom and Duke Nukem.. When i run them CMD Opens up then shuts down :( HeellpP!

A:Cmd Keeps Closing After 1 Second..

Go to start > run and type "cmd" without the quotes. Then type "cd C:/" w/o quotes. Then type in the FULL filepath to the game file, such as C:\Program Files\MyGame\game.exe and see if you are given an error message.

So, my computer was stricken with virut. So to make a long story short I had to reformat. For all the gory details see (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic242301.html).

I used the HP recovery disks and reinstalled. I also upgraded to IE8. Things appear fine with my computer except that IE closes on me quite often with a warning that IE has encounted an error and will have to shut down (even though it doesn't always shutdown) and it asked me if I want to send the info to MS. If I click details on the error I get the following or something similar ...

AppName: iexplore.exe AppVer: 8.0.6001.18702 ModName: pkr.dll
ModVer: 4.0.0.57415 Offset: 0000fc90

Any idea what this is or how to fix it?

Hi,
I am new to this forum and hope you can help me. Every time I click on a video in IE (6) it runs for a while and then comes up with the error of "Internet Net Explorer has encountered a problem and must close down"
I send the error report as requested, but nothing seems to work. It's amazing that the commercials all work, but once the video starts it pops up that message. Sometimes the video will continue playing anyway, but sometimes it just freezes up.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi cbstiff, First welcome to BC.
There are quite a few things that that message means.
Was there a Details button with the message,if so, next time click it. The error message would give better details of what the message was pointing to and easier to solve.

We had the radio on this morning and have just heard that Microsoft are no longer going to have XP. They went on to say users would have to buy new things such as Windows 8 etc. or be at risk of the system being targeted by hackers and so people would be at risk; they (we) should buy tablets with different programes etc., Is this true and why when so many people aill be unable to switch due to cost and also because many of us older people find the new Tablers, IPhones etc.,difficult to use and understand. Surely such a large organization such as Microsoft should carry on with the 35% of us who have XP and do not want to change?
Kind regards.......Margaret

My IE just started acting up today. Evertime I press any key in the URL of IE, the windows all just close. Also, the same thing happens when I click on any of the "Favorites" buttons. Does anyone know what is wrong? The last thing I remember doing before this happend was that I deleted the cookies and temporary internet files through "Tools/Internet Options." also, i updated drivers as well. would any of those have anything to do with it? also, i am using Windows XP Pro, and my IE version is 6.0.2900.2180.

note: everything else works just fine

I am running windows on a machine and everytime i open IE i get an error message that says IE has encountered and error and needs to close The strange thing is that its not the normal error message where you have the option to send an error report It has a check box closing IE Keeps that says quot Restart Micorsoft Internet Explorer quot and another strange thing is IE Keeps closing if you just move the error message out of the way and you can continue to use IE normally I disabled script debugging and i still get the same message I also ran Spybot Ad-Aware and Microsoft antispyware bete Each found alot of spyware and it was removed and browser was restored But i am still getting the same error message when openingn IE I am downloading a patch for office that will supposely correct the problem according to microsoft I do not think it will work though Does anyone have any idea IE Keeps closing on how to fix this One more thing a trojan was detected when i ran antivirus i think it was called dqsduck exe or something like that Also when i do keep IE with the error message and try to download something the whole pc crashes and restarts automatically nbsp

Create a directory on your hardrive to save HijackThis.exe. A directory like c:\hijackthis. If you do not do this, you will not be able to use the backup/restore features.

Download HijackThis from:

http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/hijackthis.zip

Save this file into the directory you made previously and then run the program named hijackthis.exe. When the program opens click on the Config button, then click on the Misc Tools button, and click on the Check for update online button. When it completes checking/applying updates press the back button.

Now click on the Scan button and when it is finished click on the Save Log button. A Notepad window will open with the contents of this log. Click on Edit then click on Select all. Then click on Edit and then Click on Copy.

Create a reply to this post here and right click in message area and select paste to paste the log into the post.

My IE hangs before it closes. On my other machines it's an instant reaction.

Has anyone seen this before?

A:IE not closing like it should

hello, yeah mine also hangs a little bit as well, is this where ya click the x at the top right hand corner and stays for like another second and closes? If you are also in the process of looking for another web browser than Mozilla Firefox is a good one

But to answer ya question I have seen it before, I will lookup for some resolutions if I can for you, I am not sure if Internet Explorer 7 has a update to it as of yet but maybe worth having a look for one

Hi everyone. For no apparent reason my computer is refusing to close down unless I go back to my home page.It just hangs.Any ideas?

A:closing down

Hi There!

It sounds like there's something running that may be hanging up and not closing properly.

Perhaps run an online virus scan at Housecall

If the system is clean, then download Spybot S&D or AdAware and install it. Once it's installed, then run the updates first, then scan the system.
Let us know who things go!
Good Luck!

I can have AIM running all day. I can see who is online, who signs in or signs off and i can read people's Away messages. However, the second I try to message someone, the message window will open partially, then AIM freezes for 3 or 4 secs and then shuts down completely.
If I switch user to a Guest profile on my XP OS I can use AIM no problem but not on my main, owner profile??

Finding the programs that are activated at start up is quite straightforward - but how do you view the bells checks and whistles that occur when you close down? I ask this because recently closing down has become a very slow process and I would like to find out what is causing this. After the saving your settings message the screen freezes, mouse becomes fixed, and then after a couple of minutes the PC closes down normally. This can be annoying when you need to reboot to clear the memory, for instance. Any clues would be appreciated by this octogenerian!

The nest day...same thing, and I have to F8 and fix something else. I checked out all my programs and files, everything is OK. I have had this system for four months. Do I need to get a new computer or is it worth fixing. It is under warrenty.

If you use this mirror, please extract the zip file to your desktop.Disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.Temporarily disable any real-time active protection so your security programs will not conflict with gmer's driver.Double-click on the randomly named GMER file (i.e. n7gmo46c.exe) and allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.Note: If you downloaded the zipped version, extract the file to its own folder such as C:\gmer and then double-click on gmer.exe.
GMER will open to the Rootkit/Malware tab and perform an automatic quick scan when first run. (do not use the computer while the scan is in progress)If you receive a WARNING!!! about rootkit activity and are asked to fully scan your system...click NO.Now click the Scan button. If you see a rootkit warning window, click OK.When the scan is finished, click the Save... button to save the scan results to your Desktop. Save the file as gmer.log.Click the Copy button and paste the results into your next reply.Exit GMER and re-enable all active protection when done.-- If you encounter any problems, try running GMER in Safe Mode.

Hi and welcome to BleepingComputer Is your log still active at MajorGeeks? If so, you should only follow the advise given by the helper at that forum. Doing otherwise can cause major problems.I didn't see where you had run malwarebytes, so let's try it here. The process of cleaning your computer may require temporarily disabliling some security programs. If you are using SpyBot Search and Destroy, please refer to Note 2 at the bottom of this page. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.Note:-- If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you may be asked to reboot your computer so it can proceed with the disinfection process. Regardless if prompted to restart the computer or not, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot normally (not into safe mode) will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware. Note 2:-- MBAM may make changes to your registry as part of its disinfection routine. If you're using other security programs that detect registry changes (like Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere with the fix or alert you after scanning with MBAM. Please disable such programs until disinfection is complete or permit them to allow the changes. To disable these programs, please view this topic: How To Temporarily Disable Your Anti-virus, Firewall And Anti-malware Programs

What in the deuce is this? They're not kidding, it's inconvenient! I have done a search of IE questions here and don't find a problem exactly like it. Was IE 6 made available before the bugs were out?????

It seems with programs such as WMP, Ares, Winamp and a couple other programs close after a period of time by itself and gives me a stupid error....I tried re-installing my computer alltogether but it didnt make a difference, I dont know if this is connected to another problem i've been having where as my computer occationally gives me a B.S.O.D and the error is ( to the best of my rememberance ) IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL....

Thanks..

I also noticed that my PC is running slower than usual too. Does any one have any ideas why this could be happening? Any help would be appreciated.

These could be symptoms of many problems. When was the last time you ran scandisk and defragged your hard drive? How much RAM do you have? Have you checked for malware?

I'm trying to help a friend of mine, he's getting the isearch c*** on his computer. I've suggested he run hjt and post his log so someone can help. The problem is....as soon as hjt stops scanning a window pops up telling him the window is closing. He can see the scan results but is unable to do anything with them. He ran the cwshredder and another coolwww something or another as suggested at the hjt website. Any suggestions on how he can get that to work? Thanks!

A:HJT keeps closing

I'm sure you meant CRUD....

====

Try the older version of HJT (link info below) or try it in Safe Mode. It's not preferred, but it's a start.

Please download HijackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any spyware/malware on your computer. Create a folder at C:\HJT and move HijackThis1982.exe there. Run a scan and save the log file. Get HijackThis Analyzer and save it to the same folder as the hijackthis.log file. Run HijackThis Analyzer and type in y if you agree. Open up the result.txt file created. Copy the whole result.txt log and post it in the forum. Do not fix anything in HijackThis since they may be harmless.

Closing a PDF in Adobe causes IE to shut down with the message "Explorer has encountered a problem ----". Was suggested I uninstall Adobe and install Foxit, same thing happens. Have scanned system with CCleaner, AGV Antivirus and Xoftspy, nothing found. Also clicking on desktop shortcut icon brings up Easy Photo Print ???. Any connection?

Hi

I am running Windows XP Home Edition SP2 and Internet Explorer 7 and all relevant updates are installed.

I occasionally get an error message when closing IE7 and cannot find any reason for it doing this. The fault is inconsistent and does not seem to be related to any particular web page.

This is the error message that appears in Event Viewer:-
Faulting Application iexplore.exe version 7.0.6000.16915 faulting module mshtml.dll version 7.0.6000.16939 fault address 0x000a79d0

Can anyone suggest a cure for this annoying error.

A:IE7 Error on closing down

I would recommend getting on IE 8 asap, 7 was always problematic, and 8 will help you be much more secure.

I bought a new computer a couple of days ago and I am experiencing a very interesting problem. Anytime I return to the computer after taking a break from work my monitor shows "No Sync", so I move the mouse and my desktop shows only the desktop versus the programs that I had opened before I went to take my break. As long as I am working on the computer I experience no problems. The problem only seems to arise when I take a break and come back to the "No Sync" on my screen. Could one of the computer's power saving modes be doing this?

Did you read about startup folders at the same place?

I have not seen the name of the command prompt pop-ups because it is only there for a split second, 2-3 happen on startup usually, and there is usually 1-2 popping up throughout the day, i was playing a game in this time and when it popped up it minimized my game but the cmd prompt lasted for like a millisecond after it minimized my game. Is this malware and even if it is not how can I stop this? For the past week also if i play games it minimizes it which annoys me a lot.
