I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I get a message that Windows failed.
Status: 0xc000000e
Info: The boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible.

It instructs me to insert the windows installation disc, restart, and run "repair your computer". However, I did not receive an installation disc, only a utilities disk (which does not boot)
What do I do now?

A:Inspiron M5030 recovery boot issue. Recovery disk does full restore and starts Win7, which operates fine. But on restart, windows will not boot.

1. Reseat the hard disk drives, reseat the controller and monitor. 2. Perform chkdsk /r on the RAID volume. 3. Run diagnostics on the hard disk drives and controller and replace as necessary.

Hello,I recently had my hard drive replaced and opted to install the system recovery software myself. I ordered the USB from HP and attempted to install it yesterday morning. When I go into my boot options, the USB is recognized. When I attempt to boot using the USB, my system stops at a blue screen recovery manager page. It has been stuck on this for nearly 18 hours without moving. The USB memory stick provided by HP doesn't light up and I am concerned it is damaged. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Hi everyone,

I was having big problems with my computer and had my data backed on on an external hard drive. A seagate replica. All my files are on there so I decided to reformat my computer and do a system recovery using the seagate replica. I got an error message and then after 4 hours of running the program it said the recovery was not successful. Seagate said that the data was corrupt.

I have an HP Pavilion running Windows Home Premium.

Well all my files are on my desktop and in my computer. Most of my programs run and I can get on the internet but microsoft office will not open. I tried to uninstall and reinstall but windows stops working and won't do it.

I ran CheckIt registry cleaner and it found alot of errors but still no help with the Microsoft Office.

I have an external USB hard drive which I store my music on.

Today it hasn;t found the files on I have tried it on 2 PC's with the same problem.

I have clicked on properties on it says the right amount of memory is full but I can't access any files or folders.

Is there a way of retrieving my data?

Hi bringmesunshine and Welcome to Vista Forums.
Did you check the Hidden Files and Folder Under Folder Options.
If you feel you have lost it, try Recuva - Undelete, Unerase, File Recovery - Home to recover deleted files.

I'm going back to my Factory Reset because I need to get something off it before I go back to Clean Install (although for some odd reason, my PC runs faster after using Decrapifier to get the bloatware off). My Recovery 1/3 DVD that I made has scratches on it that make it stop at 6%. Is there a way I can get the files off it (on a different PC), put them on a new DVD and continue on my merry way..

PS: Toothpaste trick didn't work

A:Recovery DVD issue

Extract the ISO file from DVD using ImgBurn, burn to another DVD at 4x speed with Verify. ImgBurn - Free software downloads and software reviews - CNET

Why is it you need to run Factory Recovery if your goal is to Clean Reinstall? Why not just Clean Reinstall following these tips to get a purrfect reinstall of Factory OEM: re-install windows 7

Edit: Running Recovery partition itself from boot is the preferred way to Factory Recover to the same HD as it is more stable. However, I would have the disks or a Win7 installation DVD standing by as a backup since the partition can fail.

I recently attempted to rebulid my Pavilion Notebook using Recovery CD's. The process seemed to work ok on disks 1-3 which I believe are the Operating System; the process failed when attempting to install the 4th disk which appears to be 3rd party apps and drivers. On re-attempt the install seems to be successful after skipping installation of the 4th disk. Question is, what is on the 4th disk and how critical is it to the operations of the laptop?

I'm a computer tech trying to fix a user's issue, but I have come to a cross roads and cannot complete the fix. Basically I have an HP system where the hard drive is failing or will fail soon based on SMART test. The user wanted this fixed, so we got a new hard drive and I installed it. We also got the recovery dvd's from HP. When I installed the drive and booted into the recovery media it reports an error "Reducer Application Close [Info No HDD]". This is true for either the failed/failing drive in the system or the brand new hard drive. The self test on the new drive passes just fine. I just can't seem to figure out the solution to install this operating system and get passed the No HDD when the computer self test sees it but not the recovery media.

Any ideas/ suggestions for me?

One of my users got the Windows XP Recovery "virus" last evening. He was RDCed into his desktop from home. I looked this morning and recognized it was not really a hard drive failure. I looked at the guide which suggested removing the Hidden attribute and running Anti-MalwareBytes (which I did). I ran it twice which returned diseased files. I cleaned it. I still can't get IE to work, etc. Where do I go from here?

A while ago my laptop the HP Pavilion Touchsmart Sleekbook started acting up After going to Fry's I was told to order recovery media from the HP website After receiving the recovery media I did a normal factory reset The pamphlet that was included stated it should take between - hours The first part of the recovery was easy but when the computer started restarting was when it went wrong The computer started restarting but it did so for hours straight I left it overnight After analyzing the situation I realized that I had forgotten to take out laptop issue HP recovery the recovery media it was still plugged into HP laptop recovery issue the laptop When I took out the recovery media the laptop just froze at the HP screen It stayed like that for minutes after which I decided to force shut down the laptop by holding the power button Now when turned on the laptop screen shows the Hp logo followed by a plain blue HP laptop recovery issue screen and then reverting back to the HP logo The cycle between the Hp logo and the blue screen keeps going on I don't know what to do at this point so help is greatly needed nbsp Thank you for your time and consideration nbsp

Wow what a mess I have created OK So I wanted to re-format my hard drive on my laptop due to the fact that its just become extemely slow over the past few year So I backed up everything I thought I needed to and re-formatted OOPS I missed some huge things I re-installed about - gigs of stuff onto the gig harddrive before I realized it So now I have tried different programs to recover the old files GetDataBack EasyRecovery Pro and I did a free scan with Data Recovery Pro In all cases They retrieve about gigs of what was almost a full harddrive However the gigs consist of many duplicate files they are all disorganized and I have to go through about folders named simplistic things like DIR Recovery Issue. Please Format Help DIR DIR etc In the end I only recovered about of the files I was looking to get back The most important bieng an outlook PST file Anyways I just feel with all the people Ive read about having great success with these programs that I must be doing something wrong or maybe there is a better program I just dont get it These programs claim they can get all this Format Recovery Issue. Please Help stuff back and other people do fine with them Any recommendations Any help or assistance that anyone can offer is much appreciated Thanks

A:Format Recovery Issue. Please Help

Deleted files are saved in the background, but the space they occupy is usable. Meaning, if you download a new file, install a new program, etc..., the space will be used and the deleted file will be gone for good. As far as I know. When you reinstalled that 5-6 gigs, you were overwriting files you now want to recover. Not sure what you can do at this point to get them back. If you read up on data recovery, you'll find that you really have to use it with care and rather quickly.

Sorry if this isn't the right forum for this but at least it's an XP question and Im kinda in a rush for an answer Alright here's the situation Data Recovery issue And sorry it's long I'm trying to be detailed I'm trying to recover a Word file for my gf that's about pages long Im reasonably confidant that I've figured out how the file was removed but Im not so sure how to recover it began editing a version of the Data Recovery issue document about pages saved a version of this document with the same name to a different folder finished editing document Now there is one page and one page document with the same name in different folders copied original page document to new folder overwriting new page document I have tried A UnDelete a program off the web that recovers deleted files It didn't work assumedly because the file wasn't deleted in a conventional manner ie sent to the recycle bin and or because a file with that name still existed B System Restore to a point about midway through the editing process This produced one interesting anomaly When the still page document was opened Word gave me some sort of side-bar about a different version of the file that appeared larger in size and seemed like it might be a more recent update But when i tried to open it Windows told me the file no longer existed presumably for some reason Windows wasn't pointing to the right file anymore C Searching for all files updated in the past several days to make sure the name or extension wasnt drastically changed by accident So I'm reasonably sure that if I had the necessary tool the file will still be intact since no major installations or anything would have overwritten what should still be an intact though unreachable area of the Hard Disk Is there a program or method that will find something like an quot overwritten quot or otherwise unreachable file I know professional data recovery people do this kind of thing but that's a bit drastic For the record I'm fairly technically competent so I can understand a fairly complex solution

A:Data Recovery issue

It's one thing to "delete" a file, but it is another thing to overwrite it. If the file is truly overwritten with new data, then you probably won't be able to recover it through ordinary means. In any case, you might want to take a look at Restoration and PC Inspector.

Hello, Welcome to the HP Support forum. If you need to perform recovery and the recovery partition/manager is not working correct, here you are options: You can purchase HP Recovery media from HP web site or from 3rd party company You can check with HP support to see if they can offer you original recovery media for this computer (a.k.a. recovery DVDs or USB). Info EU/EMEA >> US/CA/AMS >> Asia/APAC >> >> Here is how you can contact them :>>>> If there is no recovery media at HP, you can try to contact OR to see if they can offer you such recovery media Once you get the recovery media, here are instructions how to perform the recovery:>>

Just wanted to say hello, I do not know very much about computers but am trying to learn. I am currently working on my old computer which has Windows 7, I was having a problem with windows, that when I tried to log on it said that it was trying to do a system repair and then shut down. so I did a reinstall and ended up with two Window 7 programs. I was able to delete one, however now it is saying that the recovery disc is almost full. I have done a defrag, and that did not clear any space and wondered if there was anything I could do to clear space for if there was any other option for me. Thank you for advice that you can give me Julie

Hi all
Okay, I picked up an emachine w3502 that is infected with spyware and viruses badly. I figure a restore is in order. I make the recovery disc. and use the system recovery link.

it boots into the recovery process, when it opens, it says recovery partition is incomplete and asks for the disc. it copies files and asks for disc 2, it copies files and repeats the process. copies then asks for the other disc, over and over.
I assume that both the discs I made and the recovery partition are corrupt. I have also tried to boot from the CD and it also has the same results.

Any thoughts?

I have a WD 2tb external hard drive that now says RAW instead of NTFS. I have bought Easeus Data Recovery Wizard. I tried to scan the files. But for some reason it was interrupted during the scan so it only got some of the data. I went ahead and recovered what it had. Everything was empty and had a size of 0kb. They said this happens sometimes when a scan is interrupted. They guess there is some connection issues between the lost data hard drive and computer. They suggest you
could connect the lost data hard drive to your computer by SATA cable to make it be connected stable. Is this possible? They have a tutorial on how to slave a hard drive but it doesn't seem to be about an external drive. I am not very computer oriented. I really don't know where to go from here. Thanks for any help you can give me.

Hi, this is my first post

I am having a problem with my laptop computer. A few weeks ago I found a Trojan on my laptop and removed this using spyware doctor. Since then I am having an issue with my wireless connection. I tried to repair my wireless connection by right clicking and an error comes back when stating unable to flush DNS. My system freezes up many times after start up and forces me to shut down. What is strange I can get on when I receive a Spam message from Yahoo messenger. Also the start up is very slow. I tried to run the recovery disc but comes back with a corrupt error when trying to run.

Does anyone have any advice?

Welcome to TSF....

First thing I would suggest is to do a backup of all of the important data on your computer to another media like CD-R, DVD or other media that you prefer to avoid data loose. After that I would then do a complete restore using the recovery disk set for the computer, this will make all of the data dissappear from the computer since it will format the hard drive. Another thing, possibly related: I've been trying to run CHKDSK on reboot (2-3 times now) and it briefly goes to blue screen/looks as if it is loading, and then abruptly quits and continues to the Windows Login screen.

I have been trying to find the event in the event viewer, but I can't find anything referencing chkdsk from the latest boot, and when I look at events with "Winlogon" as the source, there's nothing at all recent.

It sounds like your HDD has major issues. On another computer download the ISO Image for Seatools in my signature and burn the image to CD using IMGBurn also in my signature. Boot off of the newly created CD and run the Short and Long tests on the Drive. If either fail then the drive needs to be replaced.

Hey everyone,

I'm having issues trying to reinstall Windows on my old emachines computer using the emachines recovery disk set. After rebooting and following the formatting instructions, it runs Symantec's Ghost program (which requires all three cd's) and then reboots itself. The computer gets to the "Please wait while Windows prepares..." and then freezes forever. I've let it sit for over an hour and have gotten nothing. Upon rebooting I get the Windows splash and then a black screen. I've reinstalled Windows twice and have gotten the same results (frozen screen - rebooting brings the black screen).

The emachines is an old T1100 with all the original specs.

Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Ah - the eMachines recovery disk...

My advice would be to buy a Windows XP disk in the store.

"You must log in to access System Recovery Options". I can only press OK to reboot the system.

I didn't make any recovery discs, so am pretty stumped at this stage hoping for advice on here.

Where can I log in to access the System Recovery Options?

Is there any other way round it?

Hi there,

Apologies if this is in the wrong section, feel free to move.

My brother shrinked his laptop drive by 100GB and then made a new partition from that which he backed up data onto in order to format Windows for a fresh install. When installing he did diskpart and used the following commands which wiped out the 100GB Data partition and continued to install Windows without realising this.

- Diskpart
- List Disk
- Select Disk 0
- Clean
- Create Primary Partition
- Format Quick FS=NTFS
- Exit

Which as mentioned he then proceeded to install Windows 7. Is there any chance to recover this lost data as it was pictures of his child and a few videos of him as well as some data files.

Any input is appreciated, thanks!

I have a Toshiba Satellite with a badly damaged windows installation. I want to do a complete re-install but cant start the recovery image from the Windows 7 repair my computer option. I can however access the recovery image from the partition and have copied it to an external USB hard drive. Can anyone tell me how I can start the re-install from the recovery image now on the USB external HD. Can I somehow create some re-install DVDs from this recovery image?

Advice greatly appreciated.

I’ve ran into the Windows Recovery issue on three computers in the past couple of weeks.(XP, Vista, 7) I have followed the tutorials and have successfully removed each instance but have one underlying problem that I have not been able to resolve. The Start Menu/All Programs shows all program folders but does not have any program shortcuts within the program folders. This is just in the start menu. It is not limited to the current profile either. The problem exists even after creating a new profile.

I do not currently have log files to provide. I am a field technician and am not in front of the PC's anymore. Just thought I'd post and see if this was known and if there was a fix. If log files are needed then I can get then and post at a later date.

Thanks in advance.

I have had my Samsung R530 laptop a few years now and I have been a little careless with it and now need to restore my laptop to its original out of the box setup.

Samsung recovery has never worked since the day I installed Ubuntu, and I have had regular fights between Linux grub and windows mbr for control of the

The bottom line is I start samsung recovery and it says recovery area not found, I know its there; 15GB/Healthy Partition/3.14GB free the partition label is correct 0x27 and the windows 7 files seem to be there too, problem is how can I access and restore windows 7 with this partition if cannot access it with samsung's recovery tool???

Thanks in Advance

A:Help restoring windows 7(Samsung Recovery Issue)

Welcome to Windows Seven Forums.

If you have your Windows 7 DVD or a Windows repair disc you could boot into the Recovery Environment and try the Restore Image option.

Failing that, you could contact Samsung and see if they still have a recovery disc for your computer.

I'm no Linux expert as I've never used it, but I'll lay odds it's probably the reason you can't access Samsung's recovery partition. I take it you didn't create a set of recovery discs when you first bought the computer?

I am having issues with windows 7 64-bit. It crashes repeatedly when recovering from hibernation state and other times when idle. I do not have problems when at the machine actively doing anything.

From my investigation:

1. Only started since I installed my HD 5850 (Running catalyst 10.3)
2. I have disabled Hibernate/sleep and it still happens
3.I don't know how to analyse the minidump files!

I know some issues existed with the low voltage level of the HD5XXX cards when at idle so I edited this in the profile.xml for the card to increase it slightly - I wonder if the profile is activating properly when the computer resumes... so potentially this could be a part of the problem (or a red herring!).

I have attached a .rar file with 3 of the minidump files for assistance.

I hope someone can help!

A:Unexpected Error Recovery - Catalyst 10.3 issue?

Hello again,

after doing more reading I have performed a few extra checks.

I ran the file check (sfc /scannow) as an admin and no issues were raised.

Also I have uploaded the full list of minidump files I have. Some were cleaned out when I did a file cleanup but I hope the extras assist in finding what is at fault.

Hello,I am in the process of starting to tackle killing a virtumonde virus on my computer and am making a recovery console per the instructions on the page. It directed me to the page which has instructions on making a recovery console from the XP Installation CD. When I run the D:\i386\winnt32.exe /cmdcons command from the run window, I get a message that setup could not continue because the version of Windows on my computer is newer than the version on the CD. This is the CD I used to install the OS, so other than upgrading to ServicePack 3, I don't know why this would be. Suggestions? Thanks so much in advance for the help!

Hi,I have an HP laptop running windows 8.1. I want to make recovery DVDs but can't find where to do that. The only thing I can come up with is creating a recovery drive with a USB flash drive.
My other question is how do you make it so your mouse snaps to the ok button when you click on something like you could do with previous operating systems.
Thank you.Jane

I went through lot of forums and they suggest it's an Acer MBR issue and that it may have been deleted or something ?? Someone suggested me to use partedit and change partition ID to 07 and then run some command like " mbrwin.exe install ^@(% ", but after doing that I couldn't load any of the OSs. I somehow was able to repair (recovered as it shows in the dual boot screen now) both of them by using windows 7 DVD (thank God). And on top of that, Acer D2D still doesn't work. Any solutions on the issue ? Thanks!

Sorry I must be dense. what is the issue? Once you went from vista to win 7 the recovery partition was for all intents and purposes dead. It can only (using a vista dvd) restore you to vista.

What was it you were trying to do?

You can of course (if you have a win 7 dvd) set up a new recovery partition that will get you back to win 7

Hello, after replacing a damaged hard drive with a new one I could not locate the product key information. I told the owner of the laptop to purchase the recovery disk from HP which she did. When I tried to install with the new recovery disk I received a message stating "recovery failed" when installing the recovery software to the hard drive. How can I retrieve the product ID key for this laptop also the recovery disk that she purchased did not work is there an update to this issue any help will be greatly appreciated thank you so much. The laptop is HP Pavilion X 360 with originally Windows 8.1 installed.

A:Recovery Failed issue and Lost Product Key

Hello, Welcome to the HP Support forum. Please, refer to these official articles about troubleshooting recovery process failures: > (Win 10)> (Win 8) Read them both and follow the advice based on the specific error the user of the PC received. PCs with Windows 8 , 8.1 and 10 do not ship with product key available for the users. It does not have COE sticker like Windows XP, Vista or 7 used to have > you ask for is officially not supported. For the recovery discs to work:- ensure the new HDD is working and correctly installed- no other major hardware changes have been performed- new HDD must with the very same size (or bigger in size) as the original HDD - smaller HDD or SSD (smaller in capacity) will not work- check with HP or the vendor you received the media from if they sent you the correct version of the discs/media for the correct PC model.

Can i Recover the C drive Files from Backup file of other PC using onekey recovery ?Since C drive is formatted For Ideapad Z510

A:Z510 Onekey Recovery issue,C drive

Hi Anandgs ,
Welcome to the Community Forums.
If you have previously created a One Key Recovery backup before formating the original harddrive on a separate media , with the same model Ideapad Z510 and specifications , as far as I know , you would be able to restore using one key recovery from user back up as an option .
This would overwrite current data on the current pc .
Would this be how you plan on retrieving backup info?

My PC went into a restore mode on its own after locking up. It had been updated to Win10, but after the restore it was back to Win7. Most of my files are there along with MS Ofiice and the related data files. Missing are my email program (Mozilla) and files and my Quicken and files. There are a number of locked files that return "access denied" when I try to open the file or directory. I'm guessing everythign is there, just hidden. i have not reinstalled Mozilla or Qbooks yet, just in case that buries the files deeper.
Someone suggested i reinstall Win10....MS said they would give me another install for free after the 7/29 deadline, but again, I want to see if I can recover my files. There is no restore point to go back to since the Dell utility ran. Any direction will be appreciated.

Upgrading the OS destroys the F8 quick restore option - if the partition is still there, it CAN still be used but you'll need to invoke it manually.
That said, the description is exactly what you'd see if your hard drive were failing. Have you run a full diagnostic on the hard drive?
F12 at powerup - let the quick test run, and then boot to the 32-bit diagnostics and run a surface scan of the hard drive (this will take a couple of hours to complete).
To use the recovery partition where you cannot get in through F8, see
(it will work with Vista or Windows 7).

Hi I'm having trouble fixing a Satellite C -A Laptop which was running Windows The main issue is a 'no bootable disk' bootable issue Toshiba C50-A 'no - disk'. USB Recovery Satellite error message The secondary issue which is Toshiba USB Recovery issue - Satellite C50-A 'no bootable disk'. stopping me solving the first issue is difficulty using the Toshiba USB recovery disk Any suggestions or advice on either of these problems would be much appreciated Troubleshooting this PC so far The laptop has only had months of light use I have no idea what caused the initial issue but it's now giving a 'no bootable disk' error message I'm not at all clear on how these recovery partitions are supposed to work And I'm not familiar with UEFI Secure Boot etc Does this error message mean that the boot partition and the recovery partition both became corrupted simultaneously Or are there some main boot files which might have become corrupt I used a Linux live CD to access the drive read-only and managed to recover data This would suggest to me that CD CPU and RAM are all working okay and the disk is still accessible I'm not sure if this is a correct assumption It looks as if Windows has got itself mangled during some quick hibernate process but I'm not competent enough to troubleshot a Toshiba partition Windows corruption issue from Linux So I reset the BIOS after using the Linux CD and purchased a Toshiba USB Recovery stick Ideally I'd like to just repair Windows if that is all that is broken and leave everything else as it was As a second choice a complete fresh install back to factory settings would be fine However I am having severe problems using the USB stick I have tried all USB ports and I am having the same problem on all of them It is taking hours and hours to load this recovery system It does appear to be working but in geological time I have to leave the PC for about hours after every mouse click before the next action is possible By this I mean it is hours of the little circle before anything happens Then hours again before a mouse cursor appears And hours again before a menu appears then hours again before I click which keyboard language and so on I have recovered netbooks from USB and laptops from CD before but this is a far slower response than I have ever seen before At this rate a normal install would take several weeks I'm not at all clear as to what is going on here I'm not sure if there is simply a fault with the USB stick from Toshiba or if this is indicating that there is a major underlying hardware fault with this PC I would have much preferred to get the recovery files on CD but this was not an option Is it possible to transfer the install files from USB stick to CD using another PC Apologies for asking multiple questions in the same post but I am not clear which question is most relevant to getting the machine functioning again Thanks

Hello Seven Forums,

I'm currently facing an issue with Windows. I got asked to repair this PC, but they ran into another issue than I did.
They couldn't get the PC to boot because it gave them a BSOD. Now, when I just started the PC, there's not a single BSOD and it runs fine, untill the "Windows Logon" screen. It doesn't load. There's a cursor and all, but the actual screen isn't popping up.

I had some heavy google sessions, with no result so far. I tried to press "Ctrl + Alt + Delete" to get the taskmanager opened, then starting "Explorer.exe", but the taskmanager didn't even load.
Now, after inserting my Windows 7 Home Premium disk (OEM), and tried to run a recovery, it took about 30 minutes to come up with this error:

Problem Event Name: StartupRepairOffline
Problemsignature 01: 6.1.7600.16385
Problemsignature 02: 6.1.7600.16385
Problemsignature 03: unknown
Problemsignature 04: 718
Problemsignature 05: ExternalMedia
Problemsignature 06: 1
Problemsignature 07: BadDriver
OS Version: 6.1.7600.
Locale ID: 1043
I have fixed these problems before, but only with wiping the whole disk and doing a clean install. But is there another way? It's not my own computer, I do not know what files are stored on it, and because of that I don't want to do a clean install.

Hello Ruben!

As the error log says it's "Problemsignature 07: BadDriver" unfortunately we won't know which driver it's talking about. Are you able to login under Safe Mode? If so check in Event Viewer so if you find anything specific.

Run a SFC Repair at Boot SFC /SCANNOW : Run in Command Prompt at Boot. Check this article Why is my screen black when I start Windows 7? and see if it helps.

Hello - am am running Windows XP Version 2002 Service Pack 2.Just got infected today by the "Windows Recovery" Trojan and I believe it had been removed(?) using, Malwarebytes Anti-Malware (version and unhide.exe.However MBAM is now popping up frequent messages that say it "Successfully blocked access to a potentially malicious website, Type: outgoing".A number of different IP addresses are shown (in the above message where the is shown), including these: MBAM full scan reports zero infected items.Reformatting and reinstalling Windows is not something I want to do unless all other options have been exhausted.Am I (still) infected? Thanks in advance for any and all assistance.

A:Removed "Windows Recovery" Trojan but MBAM Still Reporting Issue

Hello,And welcome to, before we can assist you with your question of: Am I infected? You will need to perform the following tasks and post the logs of each if you can. Please download and run Security Check from HERE, and save it to your Desktop. * Double-click SecurityCheck.exe * Follow the onscreen instructions inside of the black box. * A Notepad document should open automatically called checkup.txt; please post the contents of that document.Malwarebytes Anti-MalwareNOTEMalwarebytes is now offering a free trial of their program, if you want to accept it you will need to enter some billing information, so that at the end of the trial you would be charged the cost of the product. Please decline this offer, if you are unable to provide billing information. If you want to try it out, then provide the billing information. Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.Download Link 1Download Link 2MBAM may "make changes to your registry" as part of its disinfection routine. If using other security programs that detect registry changes (ie Spybot's Teatimer), they may interfere or alert you. Temporarily disable such programs or permit them to allow the changes.Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
For instructions with screenshots, please refer to the How to use Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Guide. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan.If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen:Click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad. The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply. A:Boot Issue BIOS-WindowsBootManager-System Recovery problem

I would reinstall to an MBR disk after removing EFI Boot Disk from BIOS Boot order.

Set DVD drive first to boot, boot into DVD Command Line to run Diskpart Clean Command followed by the command "Convert MBR" and "Exit".

Then install Win7 following these same steps for Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

This will avoid problem with having a GPT formatted disk installed with EFI boot which is not needed except in the rarest cases.

Hello to all.
I was working with the Recovery Console and got the part where it ask for a password. The
problem is I don't have a password. I have no record of ever making a password for this
computer. It is Windows xp Professional with Service Pack 3 from Gateway. I read that if you don't have a password you can type "blank" or" leave blank "and press enter. I don't know which. I can't get that to work. Maybe I am doing something wrong.
I am at at a loss as to what to do. It has a" Intel Pentium 4, 3200 MHz
Processor, 200MH external bus" Is there any work around to getting around the password.
If anyone has any suggestions or references to offer . I would so much appreciate your

best wishes to all

A:[SOLVED] Reinstall issue after using Recovery Disks [moved from Security]

Hi -

It seems the NetVista can be a bit difficult to find the right location in BIOS to change boot order. It might be helpful to know the exact model.

If you're set on restoring the machine, which is often for the best, see if this link helps, scroll down to number 3.

Also, see if these instructions I found work for you.

Boot up PC
Press F1 to enter BIOS screen
Press Enter on Startup Options
Press Enter on Startup Sequence
Use Arrow keys to change boot order

Or, slightly more detailed:

1) Shut down the operating system and turn off your computer.
2) Press and hold down the F1 key, and then turn on the computer.
3) When an IBM or other logo is displayed or if you hear repeating beeps, release the F1 key. The IBM BIOS Setup Utility will start.
4) Select "Start Options" from the first menu.
5) From the Start Options menu, press <Enter> on the top bullet labeled "Startup Sequence" (it is above all the other options). This brings up a new "Startup Sequence" menu.
6) Change boot order as needed using arrow keys.

If you need further assistance, and want only to reinstall, you'd be better off posting for help in the Windows XP section of the forum, as this section is for malware removal.

I have a toshiba portege z930 pt234e With Windows 7 Professional
I connected the external optical drive and was running fine
But when I installed the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator, the external optical drive disappeared
When I open the Toshiba Recovery Media Creator, Shows, No HDD Recovery Area!
I want to make a Recovery disk of the system

A:Portege Z930 - Toshiba Recovery Media Creator issue

The Recovery Media Creator is an Toshiba tool which requires the Toshiba image files in order to create the recovery disk. The image files are placed on a different partition called HDD recovery partition.

If the HDD has been modified or this partition deleted, the recovery media creator will not be able to find the image files and you will not be able to create such disk.

So my question is: did you reinstall the Win 7 at your own hand? Did you modify the HDD in the past?
