Preferred Solution: Microsoft LifeCam Software crashes

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If the Microsoft Lifecam works, what is the exact issue?

I don't quite understand what the problem is here, i.e., what is it that you are trying to do with the webcam that won't work?

I recently purchased a microsoft lifecam 3000 so that I can video chat with my friends.

However, one problem is that the sound does not work when I try to use it on AIM. The sound works on other applications such as facebook, etc, but the sound does not work on AIM or meebo.

If anyone can help, that will be great.

Aim version: 6.8.12.4

Hi Everyone,

I know there are several other threads on this topic already but I have a unique problem. I can install LifeCam software fine sometimes but the driver never installs for the camera. The few times I get the LifeCam installed, it always just showed up as no camera connected. When I try to use Device Manager to "Update driver software", no matter what I try, the last screen always say, "Windows encountered a problem installing the driver software for your device." Then several lines down it says, " The extended attributes are inconsistent." Has anyone else discovered this problem? I would really appreciate your help! Thanks!

I've used this camera on a different computer, and it has worked perfect for hours at a time. I've removed software, re-installed many times.
everytime i use this camera with Skype on my computer it will lose sound on the other end (mine always works fine) and they complain of static, or it will crash my computer. 9/10 times i use Skype there will be small horizontal lines across the screen.... just before it starts to lose the connection. No Skype help menus are able to fix this problem.

Please help...
Thanks

Why doesn't my microsoft lifecam work with windows 7? Is there a simple way to fix this problem?

A:Windows 7/Microsoft Lifecam

We would need the model number to tell you a reason to why it is not working, and if there is a fix.. If there is no supported driver for windows7, you may need to attempt to use a Windows Vista driver and run it in compatibility mode.

If these options are not possible, you may have to purchase a new one.

Please reply back with the model of the webcam.

Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000, incompatible with Windows 7 RC build, and yet it worked fine with build 7000? This is perplexing. Anybody with a solution?

A:Microsoft Lifecam VX-3000

Try going into the system settings and update the driver and be sure to let it search online. Initially there was no updated driver but there is now a new one that it will update and make it work correctly again.

Hi whitepanda!
As you can see it's a driver problem, first of all go to Device Manager (right click Computer icon, select Mange, select Device Manager) and check for ! mark (yellow color) if it's there click on it and remove driver, and try to install the driver again, is it just driver or the whole application?

Recently, after random computer crashes ( blue screen or not) and after reboot, the found new hardware utility starts. It finds "new hardware"the Lifecam but when I try to install it again I can't find the drivers.
I have to uninstalll the drivers and then reinstall the camera drivers through the downloaded utility.
I don't understand why the camera congfiguration is disappearing each time and worst I can't find the location of the lifecam drivers. Where are they and why is this happening?
I'd appreciate any help.

Microsoft Lifecam 5000 Problem - I have read a lot of posts on the microsoft website when I googled the problem and I tried most of it. Nothing worked.

I have reinstalled drivers, software, tried different usb slots, RR computer countless times.

Basically - the computer knows that its connected and can see it - but then it wont work. For example - skype recognises that its a LifeCam 5000 and the light on the cam turns on for a bit, but no picture. It has worked before on Skype but now it won't for some reason.

The LifeCam software says that there is no webcam connected to the computer, which is also weird if skype can see that it is connected. So I am stuck.

Anyone have any idea's please!!

Cheers

Hi I keep seeing my old webcam in drop down lists such as picasa import list yet had deleted it over 2 years ago, I have tried all the conventional methods of searching and deletion but it keeps showing up!
Advice on how to rid myself of this would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

A:un-installing microsoft lifecam vx-3000

Maybe I should not post this for fear it will get you into trouble; but, here goes anyway. First off, I have done this little procedure, myself, many times with success; but, this information, misused, can destroy an OS.

The problem with the developer-furnished uninstalls is that they are almost always incomplete so I find myself frequently editing the Windows Registry (in this case, deleting lines) to get rid of annoying remnants like the one you describe.

First, I would create a complete drive image of the partition containing my operating system. Then, I would start Regedit and do a search for every line containing "lifecam" (sans quotes). I would delete every line I found containing that text string and every line I accidentally found as a result of that search that is related to lifecam.

There you have it. If you try this, please do the imaging part first so you don't wind up with just four toes.

I am running MicroSoft Windows XP, Service Pack 3, using Parallels Desktop 7 for Mac, Build 7.0.15107, on a MacBook (2.26 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, 2 GB 1067 MHz DDR3, OS X 10.6.8). I have a Microsoft LifeCam HD 6000 connected through a USB hub that I use for Skype. Since I upgraded Parallels Desktop the other day, the webcam is no longer recognized by the computer. I know I could fix the problem by disconnecting and reconnecting the camera. But this is a remote computer which I control with LogMeIn, and that is not an option. Is there any way I can 'trick' the computer (Windows or Mac OS) into thinking I have done that? If you have any ideas or need more info, please be as specific as you can. I don't know much about computers. Thank you.

A:[SOLVED] Microsoft Lifecam HD 6000 not seen

Does the Hub have it's own power adapter? (this would increase the power provided by the USB port to the devices plugged into the hub) When you use a USB hub, it diminishes the power from the USB port. Devices that require more power like HDD's Cameras etc as a opposed to keyboards or mice, may not get recognized by the computer. Unless the Hub is self powered.
The solution is to plug the USB device directly into the computer.
You can go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager are there any devices with yellow flags? Or under Universal Serial Bus Controllers is there an Unknown Device? If so, right click it and Uninstall it. Now right click any device and choose Scan For Hardware Changes, this should recognize the device and reinstall it. If it comes back with a yellow flag or as an Unknown Device, then it needs to be plugged into the computer directly and not through a hub.

I have a new Microsoft Lifecam VX-1000 and I am trying to install the software to run it. After loading the CD and giving all the right answers and permission the install process goes into Internet download and install mode. About 65% through this phase, I get an error message that the install can't be completed due to a problem with my Internet connection.
The Internet connection is fine.
I have rerun this install attempt 6 times now from the CD and 3 times from a software packet I downloaded from Microsoft. The result is always the same and at the exact same point in the process. The green line is about 65% across in the download and install phase. I hope someone can give me an idea as to why this might be happening or how to get my camera to work by some other method.

I am running Windows 7 Ultimate - 64bit version.
My video camera is Microsfot VX-7000.
My Lifecam software is Windows 7 64bit compatible, release 3.0

My Lifecam software installed without problems but when I double-click on the LifeCam software, I get an BLANK screen with a message that states "no camera connected".

However, when I run/use Skype (latest version 4.1.0.179), the camera works without problems, which confirms that the camera is OKAY.

I have checked Microsoft Support and found article KB933311 titled "No camera connected" error message, and the video preview is blank when you start the LifeCam software: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/933311

but none of those issues effect me, nor did it solve anything.

So, what is happening? Any ideas?

Hi Guys, I'm new in here. I like this forum and that was the only forum I found many solution to my problem.

The problem is simples but I don't know if is simple to resolve.

I've download the last Driver for Microsoft LifeCam 3.0 and installed. Because I know that the 3.0 version is compatible with Windows 7 x86 and x64.

No problem, the driver was installed with success but when I start the "Microsoft Life Cam" software I receive the message:

"Initialization error..."

And the weird is normal in "Device Manager":

I've just tested my Webcam in other PC running Windows 7 Ultimate x86 and work perfectly.

I guess the problem is happennig because I'm running a x64 version.

Well, somebody have any suggestion?

Thanks a lot.

Matiello

A:Microsoft LifeCam VX-1000 / Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Well, I'd test that x64 hypothesis if I could on another computer. It doesn't really sound right to me.

Another thing could be there was a hiccup in installing the drivers and you need to reinstall them. Uninstall the old driver completely and reinstall them.

There could be a potential hardware compatibility issue somewhere down the line.

Another thing you could do if you have the time is make a spare partition and install the x86 version on it and try the camera there and see if you still have issues, if so, then that makes it lean towards a hardware incompatibility issue.

Microsoft SMS vs. novadigm software and other software?!?!
Hi!
Imagine you have a company with aprox. 500 Client PCs.
It is a windows 2003 domain. Suddenly you want to install
a certain software on 289 of 500 PC. You have 1 hour for this job…
or you can pack your things… what do you do?
We are looking for a solution / software that can handle Microsoft SMS
(Software Management Services), updates and inventory fully automated.
We looked at the solution of novadigm (http://www.novadigm.com) and Microsoft SMS.
Has anybody worked with those systems?
What about the idea of keeping the images of OS and applications separately.
So you can install any possible combination of applications on any OS according
to your Company policy. We also need an automatic inventory service with web access GUI.

Any Ideas or hins?

So long

In cases like this, check to make sure your Windows Updates are configured to include Microsoft product updates as well, and check to make sure your Windows Updates are up to date.

Also, log into your admin portal, portal.microsoftonline.com, and in the right column, click the Download software link. Then, on the left side, click Desktop setup and run the desktop setup tool on your computer, making sure all Office applications are closed when you do this.

A:Microsoft Explorer Crashes/Resets

Hey Wrygrin,

If the details is reporting that there is an error with the MSVCR80.dll, try downloading a fresh copy of the .dll file from here and placing it into your C:\Windows\System32 folder. If it asks you if you want to overwrite click 'Yes'. Not sure if this will fix your problem, but you will know whether or not that particular file was the issue. Let me know if it works out.

This has gotten progressively worse. I am now unable to open/download software (including spywareblaster and others) & my browser will not load most pages I direct it to. All of my google results are re-directed to a "go.google.com/..." address & I have to visit internet security sites through a proxy since firefox crashes when i try to visit one normally. I downloaded ESET and it detected 2 viruses (Including the Trojan.Zlob that was problematic) and i thought that was the end of my problems. Well, it wasn't, so now i realize my computer is far more infected than i believed. here is my latest HJT log. Hope someone can resolve this sooner than later. System I not oc'd gig ram Gigabyte Motherboard GTX Power - Crashes or hardware software ? Supply is a Corsair Watt only about a year and a half old I am having trouble figuring out what may be causing Windows to crash It seems that it is fixed and then it isn't Here is what occurred Never had any issues with Windows Updated to around October st I didn't have any crashing with BF beta it was running on just standard Windows Upgraded to because it promised more Crashes - hardware or software ? performance Started to have hard crashes-system would just simply power off and restart mostly when a level was loading not during actual gameplay of Bf Normally I would say that is a power supply issue I purchased a new one over a week ago I didn't install it yet because I wasn't sure if that was the issue Here is the weird thing When I did a system restore after that started happening I wasn't having any crashes at all I would really be taxing the system on purpose I e running two virus scans while playing bf I literally joined over servers and could not recreate the crash I also did the system torture test with no issues I did the system ram test and it was fine I am not sure if the crashes were related to Malware which I found on my system Tonight it crashed twice I tried to do a system restore and all of my system restore points were gone But that will be fixed tomorrow The big question is what could be causing the crashes It seemed hardware related at first but it seemingly was fixed by software

A:Crashes - hardware or software ?

It could be your power supply because BF4 may force your CPU to use more power (also might do this to your GPU & RAM), with 700w you should be fine though but there is still that small chance it could be that. Does the new one have more power than the other one?

A:Microsoft Word crashes when one particular document is scrolled

Based on the error message, there is an add-in in Word that is causing the document to crash. Try opening Word in safe mode by opening a command prompt, and type in winword.exe /safe. Or, go to the Start menu, find the Office 2010 folder, hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on Office, and keep holding the Ctrl key until you are prompted if you want to open it in Safe mode.

If you can open the document and scroll through it without issues, the problem is one of your add-ins.

You can disable add-ins by going to File>Options and selecting add-ins. Unfortunately, it will be a process of trial and error to determine which add-in may be causing the issue.

My mother just gave me a microsoft lifecam vx-700 to use so me and my son can take pictures and video to send. This is an older webcam I am assuming and it is just a plug and play. I am wondering if this is a camera/webcam that can only be used in realtime while logged onto an instant messenger/skype type of thing or is there a way that we can make our own little movies without being logged on? My camera from 1998 had more capabilities than this one lol. Just wondering if this is an online only camera?

Hi all I recently built a new desktop and it seems to be Continuous cause. software of unsure crashes, the haunting me I was first riddled with BSODs that seem to be under control for now I have a post here about those already Now though after everything being seemingly fine I'm having some issues with or pieces of software that I just cannot resolve I am wondering if maybe something at the system or even hardware levels could be to blame The first issue is my browser I use Comodo Dragon Comodo's Chromium browser I have been trying to get support on their forums for this as well For some strange reason if I set the browser's start page to be the new tab page the browser will crash as soon as I try Continuous software crashes, unsure of the cause. to go to any page If Continuous software crashes, unsure of the cause. I set the home page to ANYTHING else it's fine That is except for flash Flash will crash on ANY Youtube video whether it's on Youtube or not Sometimes this can be resolved by first loading Youtube and then clicking any links that go their it does not like a cold start up to Youtube but that doesn't always solve it I have tried reinstalling many times and have had no luck The second issue is that of my new keyboard the Logitech G s I got it plugged it in installed it Everything has been fine until a few days ago about the same time Dragon started crashing For some reason the Logitech software will crash the second I try to open up the User Interface and then I cannot start it without rebooting Windows So I figured I'd try to reinstall it Big mistake The Installer which I obviously used once now crashes EVERY TIME I try to run it so my keyboard is essentially worthless I have dump files for the crashes so I'll upload the most recent ones EDIT If it helps I was able to get the Logitech software reinstalled in safemode and it now seems to be running alright for the time being Any help would be greatly appreciated

You can use "Event Log" to trace problems. There are several logs you can view in "Control Panel>System and Security>System" that can assist you in determining what is causing problems.

Hi. Its my first time here. Ive had my system for 3 mos., no problems. playing a shooter game called a.v.a on IJJI.com. i installed the software for my new razer mouse, and after 5 mins of playing, bsod. i see threads for this problem for lots of different games, but the thing they seem to have in common is win7. my friends use the same software in same game without issue, but i am the only one using win 7. everyone else has xp or vista. i zipped my latest minidump to upload here, so i will try it now.

A:razer software crashes win7

First of all, make sure that you have the latest drivers and firmware installed. Also, make sure that you're using the correct version (Windows 7 x86/x64). Here's the razer downloads directory.

Razer Support

For future technical support questions, you may want to update/revise your system specifications via your User CP. In many cases, this is the only way supporters can get the required information to diagnose your problem. Make sure to use the exact model numbers of all your hardware, the more detailed the better.

I have 5 workstation computers and one server computer, all of which are from Dell. these computers work perfect except for the only Optiplex 3010. This particular terminal keeps on crashing when running the software that we use. It is also the only computer that asks for username and password to connect to server even after I check the box to remember credentials.

The server is running on windows 7pro and so is the computer in question. the other four computers in the network are running on windows 7 pro (2) and windows XP (2), Therefore, I think is safe to rule out incompatibility issues between operating systems and software. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled software.

Any suggestions on how to solve issue.

Thank you.

alex

I have run WhoCrashed and it says that my BSODs are not hardware-related. I'd be grateful for any help with this as I cannot see any likely candidates by way of rogue programs installed over the last few months.

Apparently it is your network driver that is failing here.

It may fail due to a lot of reasons like an outdated adapter driver, a virus, or an ambitious antivirus. For more detailed analysis, upload your MSINFO32.nfo file.
Click on the start button
Type "msinfo32" (without quotes) in the search bar of the start menu, click the resulting link. It will open the System Information window.
File>Save. In the "File Name" filed, put "MSINFO32" (without Quote), give the save location to desktop, and click the "save" button.
Give the time for processing, it will save a .nfo file on your desktop.
Zip it, and upload it following the instruction.

Software crashes for specific user.
-I have installed a software called Delcam Power shape under administrator profile and when user logged in and try to run that application.   It is just started crashing.  Off course if I run as me it would work because I am domain admin.
I thought it was permission issue and gave  admin access to the user and bring down the bar to low action center that didn't help.  Created the new profile for the user by renaming the user name to username.old and also renamed on the registry
as well it didn't resolve the issue.  All other applications are fine except this application.  Called the vendor and they had told me it not application issue off course.    Did someone face this type of issue before.  Please
kindly help.  The computer is on the domain.

This is my first post ever on any forum. Ive been in the computer realm for awhile but have been absolutely stumped by this problem. My computer continually crashes with the uses of multimedia software such as slysoft and dvd shrink. Ive installed all the new updates for all of my hardware and am wondering as of what i should do next. ive run windows memory diagnostic and with no avail it came back as no problems. This problem occurs in both 32 and 64 bit operating systems and mainly when i start these dvd ripping programs. I usually get a Memory_Managment BSOD but occasionally get Driver_IRQL_Not_Less_or_Equal. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this has been an on going problem for 4-5 months now.

A:Crashes after installing and uninstalling software

Hello, myauchandesu
Welcome to TSF

My name is Billy O'Neal and I will be helping you. (Billy or Bill is fine, if you like.)
Please give me some time to look over your computer's log(s).
Please take note of the following:In the meantime, please refrain from making any changes to your computer.
Also, even if things appear to be running better, there is no guarantee that everything is finished. Please continue to check this forum post in order to ensure we get your system completely clean. We do not want to clean you part-way up, only to have the system re-infect itself. :)
If you do not understand any step(s) provided, please do not hesitate to ask before continuing. I would much rather clarify instructions or explain them differently than have something important broken.
Finally, please reply using the button in the lower left hand corner of your screen.
Old topics are closed after 3 days with no reply, and working topics are closed after 5 days. If for any reason you cannot complete instructions within that time, that's fine, just put a post here so that I know you're still here. We get a lot of people who simply leave, and if there is no contact for that amount of time I will have to assume you have "vanished" .

We need to create an OTViewIt ReportPlease download OTViewIt by OldTimer.
Save it to your desktop.
Double click on the icon on your desktop.
Click the "Scan All Users" checkbox.
Push the button.
Two reports will open, copy and paste them in a reply here:OTViewIt.txt <-- Will be opened
Extra.txt <-- Will be minimized

We need to scan for rootkits with GMERPlease download gmer.zip and save to your desktop.alternate download site 1
alternate download site 2

Unzip/extract the file to its own folder. (Click here for information on how to do this if not sure. Win 2000 users click here.)
When you have done this, disconnect from the Internet and close all running programs.
Note: There is a small chance this application may crash your computer so save any work you have open.
Double-click on Gmer.exe to start the program.
Allow the gmer.sys driver to load if asked.
If it gives you a warning at program start about rootkit activity and asks if you want to run a scan...click NO.
Click on "Settings", then check the first five settings:System Protection and Tracing
Processes
Save created processes to the log
Drivers
Save loaded drivers to the log

You will be prompted to restart your computer. Please do so.
Run Gmer again and click on the Rootkit tab.
Look at the right hand side (under Files) and uncheck all drives with the exception of your C drive.
Make sure all other boxes on the right of the screen are checked, EXCEPT for "Show All".
Important! Please do not select the "Show all" checkbox during the scan.
Click on the "Scan" and wait for the scan to finish.Note: Before scanning, make sure all other running programs are closed and no other actions like a scheduled antivirus scan will occur while this scan completes. Also do not use your computer during the scan.

When completed, click on the Copy button and right-click on your Desktop, choose "New" > Text document. Once the file is created, open it and right-click again and choose Paste or Ctrl+V. Save the file as gmer.txt and copy the information in your next reply.
Note: If you have any problems, try running GMER in Safe Mode

In your next reply, please include the following:OTViewIt.txt

I have windows xp and i installed this game in my computer. The problem is that the software always crashes after ive been playing for maybey 30 minutes. The strange thing is that after it crashes the picture on my desktop is lost. Once i restart it everything is back to normal but the game still gives me the same problem. I have reinstalled it and installed the recomended 3d driver (directX), but it still crashes. The only thing i could think of is that the game is made for 95 but im using XP, but that doesnt seem to make sense since widows XP is a later operating system. What should i do?
