Preferred Solution: Lost drivers

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

You can probably pick up the audio drivers by running Windows Update in the custom mode and download and install all critical and hardware updates listed

I was going to put a legal copy of Windows 7 H. P. on an older XP PC. I installed windows without backing up the drivers. And then hoped the owner of the PC had the floppies of the drivers or on a CD. They had lost all copies of the drivers. The PC has no brand name or anything on it. It has IDE HDD and DVD/CD and a floppy drive. And a sound and video cards. Windows 7 is installed to where it is time to put in the drivers. But all copies of drivers are lost. Is there any way to find out what drivers it would take to get this PC running?

A:Lost drivers

Open up the case and look at the mb; the make and model of mb should be silkscreened on the board. Once you know the brand and model of mb, then you go to the board maker's site and download the relevant drivers.

Next xp drivers are not really going to do you any good with win7; you need win7 drivers.

For the Radeon 9000, I'd recommend getting this download from AMD.http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownloa...rer300-xp.aspx
The generic Microsoft drivers are rarely optimized and just have basic functionality.

I searched for the the Intel D845GRG board and got this list of downloads:
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filt...s=44&submit=Go!
I'm guessing the one under #6 that says "LAN: Intel LAN [V6.4_PRO2KXP_ONLY.EXE]" would be your network adapter. And #5 "Audio: AC 97 ADI" would be the audio. I also highly recommend grabbing #8 "Chipset: INF Update Utility for 845 Chipset-Based". If you have time, get #7 (IDE) and #9 (USB 2.0), which may improve the respective performances of each. Also get the BIOS update if you have more time.

And for the monitor you can grab these files:

I have a HP Pavilion 775e (D7218W). The hard drive died. Unfortunately the OS and all the drivers were un the hard drive because it was partitioned as a restore. I recieved no back-up cd's when I purchased the computer. I have a new OS installed, Windows XP. I have found some of the drivers I need off the HP website and successfully installed them, but I can't find the driver for my ethernet port. I can't gain access to the internet to help complete the updating of the entire system. Where can I get the driver, or am I doing something wrong? Is there a driver for the ethernet port?

Ok, everything was going great on my PC untill I went to back up a bunch of pics to CDs and my burner wont accept the blank cd, (in any software). the drive is visable at my computer but wont recognize any disks. in device manager it says the drive cannot start b/c it is missing a driver ( apparently from roxio, which i had uninstalled the reinstalled). I have disabled/enabled, uninstalled and rebooted, i have ran all the roxio patches. I tried throwing my roxio disk in, but alas....cant read it so cant use it. I do have a second drive that according to device manager is working properly, but it doesnt show up under my computer. I'm at a loss here....i read i can change the registry files but i am a bit nervous b/c last time i messed w/ registry i ended up getting a new comp. Please help!

A:lost my drivers

What make and model is the CD drive? You need to go to the manufacturer's website to download the drivers for it. It is also possible that the drive has died, but try the drivers for it first. I may be wrong but isn't Roxio just cd/dvd writing software? It's the manufacturer of the drive you need to get drivers from.

Morning. I am having problems with drivers, I can't get me PC to recognise my phone. now every time
I turn my computer on I get this. ( see attachment) can anyone help.

A:lost drivers

It looks like that DLL is either missing or corrupt. If that DLL is required to make your phone work with your PC, then you may have to reinstall the drivers for the phone, or else reinstall the software package that came with your phone.

What happens when you plug the phone into the PC? Does it give you an error message?

I've searched on here and downloaded the SIW programme, but to be honest it doesnt make much sense to me. I'm a complete novice at these things.

Device Manager has a yellow question mark for the following:

Other Devices:

PCI Device
PCI Flash Memory
PCI Flash Memory
PCI Flash Memory
SM Bus Controller
USB2.0 Camera
Video Controller(VGA Compatible)

Its an Acer Aspire 5100 AMD Turion 64 Mobile Technology MK36 (2.0GHz, 512KB L2 cache)

Any help would be much appreciated.

A:Lost Drivers

Hi decco, and welcome to BleepingComputer.

Did the Acer come with any other discs other than the installation disc?

Try looking in the Device Manager to see what errors or warnings are appearing and for what devices.

Start> right click on My Computer> Manage> Device Manager. In the pane on the right if it only shows your computer with a box with a + inside, click on the + to open the rest of the tree. Errors will be red Xs, warnings will be yellow triangles with an exclamation mark inside. Let us know what devices have errors or warnings.

Hey guy's. Here's the issue I had today. For some reason after I went back to Windows 7 Home Premium from Windows 8.1 OEM Builder due to license agreement violation (GRRRRR) I installed all my programs and did all my updates. But after I did my Windows updates for Microsoft Office and rebooted I lost all my drivers! But Windows reinstalled them automatically like they were just installed and Win was booted up with new drivers. I was wondering if anyone ran into this before and what caused it?

My computer keeps losing the cdrom/zip drive and now the modem. A friend of mine (now out of the country) had told me how to go into the registry and delete a default value and restart. I can't remember where he said to go, and the email he sent to me is forever gone. I now have the computer with a guy who says there are thousands of places it could be. All I want is for my computer to find these drives that I know are on there. The guys who's looking at my computer says I need to buy and install a new cd rom, I will do that, but I was hoping someone out there knew about this so he could try this first.

A:Lost Drivers

It's not necessary driver issue, but...

1. Do you have any errors in Device Manager, which would indicate missing driver(s)?
2. What program do you use to play your movies?

I re-formatted the hard drive on my Dell Inspiron 1318 laptop, which operates using Windows Vista. I successfully re-installed Windows Vista onto the machine. I then tried re-installing the necessary drivers from a DVD labelled "DRIVERS AND UTILITIES" that states the contents are Device drivers as well as diagnostics and utilities. However, I ended up with a message that read "The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the 'Dell Resource CD' disk and click OK".

Any ideas what is wrong and how I can fix it? I can't go online without the drivers, so I need a solution that doesn't involve this.

Hi: According to the specs for that model, your notebook comes with W7 64 bit, but you stated you are running W7 32 bit. I don't believe there are 32 bit graphics drivers for your notebook, so see if this 32 bit graphics driver from a business notebook works... This package provides the Intel Video Driver and Control Panel for the supported notebook models and operating systems. ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp47001-47500/sp47229.exe

A:Lost sata drivers

Hello Hoosiervol Welcome to the Seven Forums!

The first place to look would be right at the Asus support site! ASUS - Motherboards- ASUS M5A97

Once the model page is found for the model board you have you open the "downloads" tab and then select the OS you are running to automatically arrive at the correct download page. There are two versions of the driver sets with three items for the 32bit and 64bit XP, Vista/7, and the 3rd for all three versions under each driver version to choose from.

The cd that comes with the board itself will also have the drivers there as well.

Go into Control Panel>System>Hardware>Device |Manager and look through the Yellow question marked entries for the Network Controller and hen you find it, click on it and then on teh Details tab. Note down the numbers after PCI and DEV.

Then,. go this website (using your other computer) http://www.pcidatabase.com/ and enter those two pieces of information in the appropriate boxes. The database will then provide the name of the manufacturer and the exact product. Go to their website and seek out the driver.

Once the system is back online, the other drivers will probably find themselves.

A:Solved: lost drivers

The Windows 7 64-bit downloads section for that motherboard lists 104 files.

The Intel chipset driver(9.3.0.1019), Realtek audio driver(6.0.1.6767), Intel graphics accelerator driver(9.17.10.2884), Realtek LAN driver(7.65.1025.2012), and Intel USB 3.0 driver(1.0.5.235) appear to be the primary ones that you need.

The chipset driver should be installed first before installing the other drivers.

I have formatted my hard drive and installed XP and SP2. Before SP2 even my graphics card was not recognised. Now however there are two major problems. The on-board sound device is not recognised and nor is the modem. I have no idea how to reinstall the sound... will i have to buy a soundcard?

The Modem however has this on the back of it IF56A-CL/UK. Does anyone know where i can find a driver for the modem and maybe a way to rescue the sound? Cheers, Richard.

Edit: I've just spotted a handy sticker saying the sound is int. AC97... does this help?

Hi all,

I just downgraded from Vista to XP on my HP Pavilion dv2810ca laptop and lost all of my drivers. Definitely should have done more research before I did that.

Anyways, I've been looking all over the internet all day and I'm having a really hard time finding all the drivers I need. On the HP support site I can only find Vista drivers, so I'm wondering if it's even possible to run XP on this thing.

Any suggestions? Here's a link to the specs of my laptop:

After I installed xp on a new hard drive, the drivers for my display are gone and can't be updated it seems. What do I do???

Relevancy 43%

Seems like a common problem based on my search online, but many causes. I updated my drivers using SlimDriver(supposed to be safe), and afterword my setting for 1280x800 resolution went disappeared. Could be wrong, but does this mean I need to use a different driver? How do I do that? What driver should I be using? I currently use an HP EliteBook 8730w.

A:Updated Drivers and lost my 1280x800

Actually guys I got what I needed. I used this link How to Add Custom Resolution to ATI | eHow.com Though I have to warn you if you use it, windows seven is slightly different, but the base idea worked the same.

Please let me know if I did something horribly stupid. But the resolution is exactly how I want it.

A:Sound DVD and Network Drivers lost

As for the DVD - Win Xp does not include the necessary codecs to play DVDs. Easiest way to fix is to install Cyberlink PowerDVD and either use it (my preference) or use Windows Media Player. PowerDVD installs the codecs and, if you want, you can uninstall PowerDVD and the codec will still remain.

Networks and audio cards - go to the manufacturer's website and download the drivers for them.

Hi,
I hoped someone might have an idea...My DVD and CDRW drives aren't recognized by Win98. Device manager shows yellow exclaimation points next to Primary and Secondary Ultra ATA controllers (under Disk controllers section). I cant find the drivers at IBMs website for Aptiva - not listed and I can't get them on the phone. I have the resource disk but cant use my CD drives! Any thoughts are much appreciated as this has me stumped. The beauty of all of this is that I downloaded a utility from Microsoft Windows Update that ensured 'smoother operation of this or that...' and it uninstalled my IDE controller drivers! Of course Microsoft is unavailable for support or comment.

A:Recent reinstall lost drivers help

Reinstalling Windows will require the installation of those drivers. You didn't do anything wrong. It just is. Go to the PC manufacturer's (Dell, HP, Acer, etc.) for most of those drivers if you don't have a driver CD. If the PC is self built or custom built, then go to the motherboard maker's website for those drivers. Go to the graphics card maker's website for graphics drivers.

This is ok now, after some manipulations, trials and errors with broadcom-, anycomwidcomm- and microsoft bluetooth's and b.t. drivers it's working again.
In c.p. I have like before 1 post bluetooth-radio's (microsoft bluetooth enumerator + silicon wave wireless bluetooth adapter) and under network-adapters I have again 2 b.t. items also (b.t. pan #2 + b.t. rfcomm tdi #2) and the drivers are silicon wave wireless adapter 6.1.6002.18457 and sst boxone dongle 7.0.0.1 also may be important, are installed successfully. The b.t. wizard for sending files to the smartphone works fine, receiving does not work yet, but this is a fault probably in the smartphone itself (samsung star s5230) that for some reason still sees an old computername (no more in use after windows reinstall), this is visible with search directly from the smartphone, but is does receive files. Ok, solved for the pc part at least.

You can boot it with a boot disk but that is it, without access to the CD you can not load anything to repair windows. Have tried both the repair console and starting insafe mode with no luck.

Hello there,

Need help please

I have a Presario laptop top with Vista Home premium .
By mistake all the USB drivers were removed from my device manger and now all my USB ports are not working and of course I can use none of my USB devices.
I tried all the following:

Let device manger scan system changes and look for drivers
Restore to a point before the problem
update chipset drivers
update BIOS
nothing worked and still USB not working

I do not want to use the system recovery which takes my laptop to factory settings and make me lose all the programs and data I have.

Thanks in advance

A:Lost all USB drivers including HUB root

If you updated the chipset drivers, this would have reinstalled the drivers for your USB ports.

Does Device Manager show your USB ports (probably with problems) or any unknown devices?
What was the mistake that deleted all these drivers? The reason for asking is to determine what else was done that made the normal fixes not work.

For starters, please go to Start and type in "msinfo32" (without the quotes) and press enter.

In the program that opens, save the report as an .nfo file, zip it up, and then upload/attach the report to your next post.

Hello, if you got a Drivers Disc with your Notebook you can insert that into the Notebook and install all the needed drivers.

If not

Then you will need to go to http://support.vaio.sony.eu/ and enter your Notebooks Serial Number so you can find the correct Drivers for your VAIO. Download them and install each one at a time.

A:Reformatted Computer - Lost All Drivers - Nothing Works

First you need to install the chipset driver. You get that from the website of your computer manufacturer or motherboard manufacturer. Then visit the websites of your various hardware manufacturers and install the drivers for you video card, sound card, and ethernet card if you have one. To determine your specific hardware go to START - RUN and type: devmgmet.msc (then press ENTER). That opens device manager. Double click on the various hardware to find out the make and model. Alternatively, you can download, install, and run a third party app such as Belarc Advisor or Everest and your hardware will be identified for you.

I was installing Service Pack 1 for vista but while it was in the 3rd stage it stopped at 62% so I restarted the computer started vista in safe mode, it went up from 60% then it stopped at around 70%-79% so I restarted the computer again but in normal mode, it went to 100% but then it said the service pack didn't install so it reverted back the changes. I don't wan to re-install vista because I don't want to re-format a partition.

So I was thinking that I could copy the core drivers into the hard-drive from the Vista Disc. But I only have a command prompt to work with that doesn't have the "help" command. So if its possible can I have a list of the core drivers to copy and the commands to use? Maybe regsvr32 after copying? Thanks in advance.

A:Msconfig Mistake (disabled Sys.ini And Lost Drivers...

You might try running repair from the Windows XP install disk, if you have one or can borrow one.

Insert disc in cd drive, start computer and it should boot from disk, if not restart computer, go into bios and change boot order to have cd drive ahead of hard drive.

When the screen comes up asking if you want to run the repair console, select no. The next choice will be to reinstall or repair current os. Choose repair.

This should install at least basic drivers for everything, at least enough to get you onto the Internet to dowload updated drivers for those devices that might need it.

One question, how much ram does your computer have? If you are looking to speed your computer up, adding ram is always something to think about. It's cheap these days.

I had a serious laptop error on my Samsung, and I had to pull the data off my hard drive, then reinstall Windows 7 using a neighbor's installation disk (I lost mine in a move). Now, my laptop thinks it doesn't have a wireless card, so I won't be able to get online wirelessly.

Is there a way to get these back? I'm not even sure what kind of wireless card I have.

A:Solved: Upon reinstall I lost my wireless card drivers

Can you go online on a friend or family member's computer? If you can get the model number off the machine, then go to Samsung's website (support section), they supply the drivers there. You could download them to a flash drive.

I am running Windows XP Professional.
LG DVD Rewriter. HL DT ST DVDRAM GSA 4081B.
These are the associated files found in System32 folder.
AFS2K.SYS
CDROM.SYS
IMAPI.SYS
REDBOOK.SYS
STORPROP.DLL
I ran the update through device manager it recognizes them and says that I have the latest, but the dvd is still in conflict.

I get the error message: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. error code 39

Please help. Thank You.

A:Solved: Lost my DVD drivers when uninstalling Live One Care.

This is not a Malware problem. Please try to post in the appropriate forum. I'll move this one to hardware.

Then try this:

1. Click on START button, the click on RUN.

2. Enter REGEDIT and press Enter.

3. When REGEDIT starts, open up the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class/
{4D36E965-E325 -11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.

4. After clicking on {4D36E965-E325 -11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} you should see two settings on the right-hand side:
"Upperfilters"
"Lowerfilters"
Click on each of them, press DELETE and click YES.

Or you can download this reg file to do the same thing. Or CDGone Variant if the other didn't work or you once had Roxio.

I have just reformatted my Dell Dimension 4700 and re - installed the OS etc. Of course - because I am an idiot I forgot to back up the internet drivers. Now, under device manager I have yellow ?s under two ethernet controllers.

I do not know what makes these drivers are, and have tried to downlaod a driver scanner on a MAC and transfer via USB, however this just causes the MAC to freeze when copying - I don't know why.

Would the ethernet controller be from Dell - or how else could I get them...It is very frustrating and quitev urgent as I have work I need the internet for. the ironic thing is that if they were any other drivers I could go on the internet and download them!

I don't have any CDs with them on I don' t think.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - its becoming a real problem

I usually have my computer connected to my LG TV via HDMI cable, recently I tried disabling the sound from my LG TV, so it just played through my computer speakers, however when I disabled the HDMI driver in the sound driver menu, I also lost visual display. I reconnected my computer through VGA, but then even when I click 'show disabled devices' I still can't find the HDMI driver again, therefore I can't get my computer to work through the HDMI cable again.

A:Disabled HDMI audio in sound drivers, but also lost visual display!

The disabled HDMI device should show up in Device Manager if you can't find it in Sound.
There wouldn't have been any need to actually disable it, since you can simply set the default playback device to your computer speakers.

Problem, after trying to remove a virus/maleware/currupted exe's, i seemed to have lost any information in my Device Manager and all my Network connections (both LAN and WIFI).

Not sure if this would have caused this, When dealing with the exe problems (whether it was virus, maleware or anything) i was in safemode.. I did a msconfig and clicked on boot.ini. I checked safeboot. Apon the next reboot i had no network connections, no device manager. But interesting enough my problem went away and was able to access anything again. I went back into msconfig to renable boot.ini to the original setting and an still have the same problem...
So my problem is i have NO network connections, no LAN or WIFI options.

Only after i enabled Safeboot in Boot.INI in MSCONFIG.

MSCONFIG settings set back to original settings.

System restore was apperntly off.
Any ideas?
