Will the card fit?

Q: Will the card fit?

Hi will a sapphire r7 265 video card fit in a microATX computer case.

Preferred Solution: Will the card fit?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Will the card fit?

Depends on the case, but it will fit most cases.

Hi all,

I recently bought a relatively expensive sound card on Amazon and after the second boot of my PC with the card installed and working my on board LAN card decided to not work throwing error: "This device cannot start. (Code 10)"
The card IS enabled in the BIOS and I HAVE disabled the on-board sound card.

LAN Adapter Details:
-Make and Model: Realtek RTL8137/810x Family Fast Ethernet NIC
-Driver Provider: Realtek Semiconductor Corp.
-Driver Version:
-Driver Date: 23/01/2014

This sounds like an IRQ problem, which is strange because modern PCs can usually resolve these conflicts automatically. But seeing that your system is a Pentium 4, maybe the motherboard is old enough to still be dealing with the issue.

One thing you could try is to perform a Clear CMOS procedure. This will force the motherboard to re-enumerate all the devices and will often solve IRQ conflicts. Note all your current BIOS settings
Shut down the computer > remove the power cord.
Remove the 3v motherboard battery.
Move the CLRTC jumper from pins 1-2 to 2-3.
Touch a metal part of the case and Press and Hold the reset button for approx. 30 seconds to discharge all power from the board.
Put the CLRTC jumper back on pins 1-2.
Replace the 3v battery > replace the power cord > boot.
Immediately go back into BIOS and reset all your preferred settings. If the CLRTC worked you will need to reset the date and time in BIOS.
If that does not work then you could try to get the 2 cards to play nice together by installing them in different locations, if you have the extra slots.

Keep in mind that when removing any card it is important to remove it from Device Manager first. Remove it from Device Manager > shut down > then physically remove the card > then restart into Windows > then you can shut down perform the next procedure.

Sometimes you can simply install the newer card in another PCI/PCIe slot and that will resolve the conflict. (You must remove the device from Device Manager in order to change the slot)

Other times you might need to remove both cards, then install the newer card first and the older card second.

Let's see if any of that helps.

I have a "SanDisk Ultra CompactFlash" 4GB card and an internal card reader (HP desktop). When I insert the card into the reader, the green light above the slot turns on as if it recognizes the device, but it doesn't show up. Device Manager says that the driver is installed and working properly, and I have uninstalled it, reinstalled it, and restarted my computer. A system restore isn't really an option because it isn't my computer.

Any idea how I can fix this? Could it matter that I'm not on the Admin account on the computer?

Lately, My laptop is very slow in recognizing my usb stick, or my Hard drive (usb 3.0) or my sxs cards through my express card slot. It 's also slow in recognizing my sd-cards through my card reader. I have a very fast laptop. A lenovo W530.

I just started a while ago, and I can't get it to recognize faster . Everything else works just fine and fast.... but it takes up to 4 minutes to recognize these things.

Can somebody help?

Hey tidri. 2 things come to mind if it previously worked. One is a reinstall of all the drivers for the mobo, and the other is a full AV/Malware/Rootkit scan. If everything checks out, a full format and an OS reinstall would be my third move.

Welcome to the forum Ray and Julia,

Recheck all the cables and make sure they are plugged in properly.

When you install a new video card you have to remove ALL drivers for the old card.
Uninstall the drivers for the old card in Add/Remove Programs and if you don't have the option there, check in Control Panel/Device Manager and make sure there are not 2 cards showing under Display Adapters. If the old one is still showing, Highlight it and click Remove.

Uninstall the new video card drivers, restart then re-install the new drivers.

Hi TechSpot folk, and thanks for in advance for anyone who can help me.

I've bought myself a new video card yesterday; HIS Radeon X1650 Pro 512mb IceQ, AGP. I went ahead to install it, and I get no picture after booting up.

I am receiving a signal to the monitor (I am not getting a "check signal" message) but no image comes to the PC. I went to put my old card in which is a Gigabyte 128mb 9600 Pro, and it now it doesn't work either!!!

Both cards are receiving power as theirs fans are chugging along.

I had also purchased a 1gig stick of RAM to complement my new video card, so I set my PC up the way it was before the attempted installation of the new card. Still nothing happening.

Current components of PC are:

P4 2.8ghz (D865PERL)
Gigabyte Radeon 9600 Pro 128mb
512mb RAM
DVD and Lite-On burner

Hi. I recenly purchased a Dell Dimension 3000 running XP. I connect to the internet using a Linksys Wireless-G (model WMP54GS). That works just fine. However, I got a new video card, a GeForce FX 5500 and when it's installed the wirless card doesn't really work. It struggles to find the network. If it does find it it generally won't connect. Once in a while I can get it to connect but that's not very common. Once I remove the video card the network works fine. I've tried installing a variety of drivers for both PCI cards. I've tried moving the cards to different slots and the results are always the same. Any ideas as to why this would happen?

A:T420s Nvidia Graphics Card & Express Card Question...

The T420s with Nvidia GPU has two graphics card that can switch on the fly, if you only want the discrete gpu, just go into your bios menu under graphics there is an option to select discrete. With the Nvidia Optimus (which is what you have), it can switch between Nvidia and Intel GPU depending on your application needs. This will allow you to conserve battery or power. Expresscard slot 34 mm slot is occupied by the card reader that you ordered. What you are talking about within the ram slot cover, is the mPCIe slot, which can be occupied by a mSATA drive.

Unplug ALL USB devices.
Open Device Manager.
View, Show Hidden Devices.
Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers.
Uninstall all devices under Storage Volumes. Say no to any reboot prompts until you are finished. Also, if a Storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore it and move to the next one.
If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

When this is done, reboot TWICE.

Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.

Microsoft assured me that my Windows 7 laptop (Latitude E6510) was ready to upgrade to Windows 10.  In a way, it was... but only after I upgraded did I see Dell's caution that this model was not verified to work 100% with Windows 10.
Almost everything works (sound didn't work initially, but I found a fix online that helped), but clearly new drivers are required which recognize and drive the PC Card reader, the SD card reader, and even the CD/DVD drive.  The CD drive won't even open when pressed, nor is it recognized as a drive by Windows 10.
Yes, these inputs can all be accessed via external USB drives,  but please provide new drivers, Dell.  For those with this model on the fence about upgrading, determine how much you need these built-in readers/drive!

A:Latitude E6510: Windows 10 works, but not CD/PC card/SD card reader

I've just upgraded my Latitude E6510 to windows 10. Most of the drivers refuse to run as they cant recognise W10 OS. I suggest anyone thinking of the upgrade not to at this stage. The Dell Driver downloads area warns of this.
Right now I have a non working keyboard, mouse pad, backlight. My biggest concern is the Nvidea graphics drivers wont install so I have fuzzy text with some of my programs (not all).
I am surprised MS allowed me to download W10?? I'm going to waste another day trying to fix this up or I'm going to have to reinstall W7. Very unproductive-not happy

In the boot sequence the SD Card reader is third -- after the SSD and the CD/DVD.  It is third in BIOS and third after pressing F12 during POST.  With a card in the SD Card Reader boot fails with what I call a green screen.  When I ran the repair CD with the SD card in the slot, the message was that the boot sector was corrupt.  Why is BIOS trying to read the SD Card instead of the SSD?  The SD card is SanDisk Ultra II SD 4 15 MB/s 2GB.  Please let me know when a new version of BIOS is available.

I've been looking for a new video card - just got outbid for a radeon 9800 DOOHH, but my question is (having decided just to get a radeon 9600) what is the difference between the same model cards produced be different manufacturers. For example, the following three cards:

Gigabyte Radeon 9600XT
Sapphire Radeon 9600XT
Creative Radeon 9600XT

are they completely different cards or similar, I mean should I treat them as completely different products?

Just about to shell out 100 euro for one.

The SD-Card-Reader recognize any cards. I had installed the Card Reader Controller from Realtek with the Version 6.1.7600.30126 an Windows 8.
But the cards are not recognized.
In Windows 7 it ??works.

Does anyone have an idea?

A:Satellite Pro L770-144: Win 8 card reader doesn't recogize SD card

First question:
Is card reader recognized in the device manager properly?
If its not recognized, then you used a wrong driver.

If its recognized, the driver has been installed properly and there is another reason why SD cards cannot be used.

As far as I know the card reader of Satellite Pro L770 handles different kind of cards and different sizes.
Memory Stick: 128MB-256MB
Memory Stick Pro: 512MB-2GB
xD Card: No
mini SD: 8MB-2GB
micro SD: 8MB-2GB
CompactFlash: No
SmartMedia: No

As you can see supported SD cards: 8MB ? 2GB
It seems bigger SD cards are NOT supported.

A:video card/graphic card reboot problem

boynamedanurag Hello;Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!I read your post about booting and video card problems and wanted to help. So, if I understand what you're saying, you reinstalled Win7 and the PC boots OK, right? But when you then install a video driver and reboot, it does not boot, right? My guess is that you have one of the old DV6 laptops that has two video chipsets, something called Switchable Graphics.  And the problem with that is that only the HP OEM video drivers will work on that laptop.  IF you install other ones, such as the ones you get from AMD or Nvidia, they will NOT work -- which sounds like what is happening to you. What DOES work is restoring your PC using HP Recovery Media because that will contain the HP OEM drivers.  Media. This is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities. In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks.  You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded. You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Update".  If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click the "+" symbol to expand that entty and click on Order Media for details.Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while! Good Luck========================================================================I am a volunteer and I do not work for, nor do I represent, HP.---------------------------------------------------------------If my posts helped you, please click the Thumbs-Up symbol to say thanks. If my posts solved your problem please click "Accept As Solution".========================================================================

Hi jaytab, and welcome to TSG.

Try checking if you have any local companies that offer a printed circuit board assembly service for boards with surface mount parts. They would typically have a rework station where they might be able to resolder the ICs to your board for a nominal fee. They may not be able to guarantee that resoldering the part will give you a working memory card as the bending of the board may have fractured an internal copper trace in the board or a trace under the IC.

How did you disable the onboard video? I would bet you need to go into the bios and re enable the card because that had to be where you disabled it and do not disable any video cards in Device Manager. With newer systems, there really is no need to disable onbaord video as bios settings usually allow agp or pci-express when installed or onboard when none installed.

Now what i'm planning to do is replace my 305Watt Dell PSU with that one, stick the riser card in my PCIe slot, connect the HD 4870 to the riser card, and then ...???...!!!...Win?

What would you need the riser card for? I see plenty of space in the case from the looks of it but even if you do use the riser card, the video card may be blocking airflow from and to the CPU. Check the dimensions to be sure IMO.

Otherwise, everything else looks great.

I've got an hpCompaq d530SFF (it's a small box) with a low-profile Silicon Image, Sil 164 Carrera ADD Card for the Intel 845G chipset plugged in to the only AGP slot in the box. I think I can replace it with a card that is more suited to CAD and that has at least 128Mb of memory.

I don't know a lot about this stuff, but I'm guessing the Sil 164 card just provides a DVI output and not any graphics processing?

If that is the case, if I replace the board, I'm assuming I would have to disable the mobo graphics processor?

Any suggestions for a replacement board? (BTW, it was suggested that the nvidia TI4600 was a good choice, but I think it is discontinued and it wouldn't fit in the box anyway.)

I have looked in the case and took the card out and I belive that the graphics card slot is agp 2x. The card has two slots in it leading me to belive that it is a universal 1.5v 3.3v card. I am just wondering what cards my computer would accept and whether a 4x card would work ok in a 2x card slot.

I bought my comp about 2 years ago with 2.5 ghz p4 processor and a 1gb of ram for about 500 dollars not knowing the video card was integrated. After some software i bought needed vertex and pixel shaders i look into buying anew agp card, when i look in my comp i found my agp slot was removed. THe area it was supposed to be in was still there but it was gone. So now i found a really good pci card i wnat to use, how do i make it work? Like in disabling the integrated card.

I own Windows 8 and Autoplay does not function at all with my media card (SD card).
I have tried everything.
Researched online for hours for a solution.
I formatted the SD card.
Tried another card.
The Autoplay works perfect with CD's, DVD's and USB sticks.
I adjusted the default settings with Autoplay, with no luck.
My camera is a Canon.
And the SD card is setup with the following folders:
Sorry about all this information, but I would like to provide some information first.
Now running virus detections with Defender and Malwarebytes.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Hi: I had been using hte SD for alomost 1 year and not I am unable to use my SD card. The SD card slot seems to not hold the SD Card in place. There used to be a click sound when i insert the SD Card, but not I don;t hear any sound. The SD card comes out as soon as I leave the card in the slot. I assume that the hold mechanism or the spring mechanism inside the card is not working properly. My Laptop is out of warranty now. Is there a part that I can purchace and replace to make it work or fix the existing hardware itself? Regards,Pete

Need exact model number and we can find the Manual and the part or at least figure out if the card reader is soldered to the motherboard or is a separate part and if it is find you one to replace yours with.

I am reading a Windows tweaking guide which covers the possible performance drop in major peripherals shared IRQ's can cause I checked and see that my X-Fi shares the same IRQ with This Sharing: Is Card/Sound Card Vid Problem? A IRQ my GTX Physically mobo slot placement the graphics card and sound Vid Card/Sound Card IRQ Sharing: Is This A Problem? card are as far apart as possible I could shift the X-Fi to a PCI slot that is closer to the GTX but I'm not sure if that would change its IRQ assignment Seeing as all I use this computer for is gaming should I be worried EDIT More Information I can see there are devices which shouldn't even get IRQ assignment as they aren't used which is very frustrating ISA SCSI RAID Host Controller ISA Primary IDE Channel PCI Creative SB X-Fi PCI NVIDIA GeForce GTX PCI Silicon Image SiI SATA Controller Vid Card/Sound Card IRQ Sharing: Is This A Problem? PCI Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller PCI Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller I use a single IDE for my DVD burner the secondary IDE channel is disabled I don't use a RAID configuration any SCSI devices and my HD's are SATA So why are list entries amp allocated IRQ's EDIT Slight Update I can disable any of these which frees up the IRQ but I'm not sure if removing the SCSI RAID Host Controller or either Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller would present any kind of problems

A:Vid Card/Sound Card IRQ Sharing: Is This A Problem?

After thinking about it I remembered that Daemon-Toolz mentioned its need for the SCSI/RAID driver during its installation. SO I uninstalled the program and the SCSI/RAID Host Controller entry disappeared from the list and was replaced by Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System. After rebooting my system the X-Fi moved to IRQ 19. The X-Fi has IRQ 19 all to itself and the 8800GTX shares its IRQ with the Silicon Image SiI 3531 SATA Controller.

Now my only question is am I at any kind of performance disadvantage because the X-Fi is now farther back in the IRQ list?

Hi all, Interesting one this, MSI KT3v mainboard 'No Lan option' AMD 1.4 with 512mb, client has an NVIDIA graphics card and a Lynksys NIC card, she can get one or the other to work in normal mode but not both, 'Graphics install knocks out the NIC' but in SAFE mode all work happily together, No IRQ conflicts flagged but the Graphics adapter does not show up in device manager, we have had everyone and his dog chew on this one for days, and frankly it has me and the rest of the room stumped,

Latest everything installed, altered the install combination too, it,s the fact the things work fine in safe and not in normal mode that has me wondering some, any ideas would be interesting as I have run out.

A:nic card and graphics card driver conflict

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

The graphics card drivers, and/or the nic drivers are the problem.

Try using a different version of the graphics drivers/nic drivers.

If all else fails, try a different nic.

I have had this problem for a long time.  Just now getting around to fixing it.  I have been using an external USB reader to read the SD card which works fine. When I put the SD card into the computers onboard opening the computer tells me that I must first format the card.  Its already formatted with data on it.  So I decline to format it.  MY COMPUTER recognizes it as in DRIVE F-so it is seeing it. I am open for any ideas as to whats wrong and how to fix the problem.  Thanks for your help.

I'm having problems with video streams stopping and games stopping. I was told that I don't have a video card/ graphic card. Which should I get or both. My PC has 736 RAM. I'm thinking of gettin 2G or 1G stick. Would this help or do I need it to run a video card/ graphic card?

Thank You for your responses

A:What is the diffret in a video card / graphic card?

A video card and a graphic(s) card are the same thing. What you have now is an integrated graphics card. Integrated graphics cards have terrible performance. Now, we need to know whether your motherboard has a PCI-E or AGP slot. Download CPU-Z , take screenshots of the tabs called "CPU" and "Mainboard" and post them here.

They should look something like this (the information and logo will be different):

Hello, I just bought a Radeon HD 4650 card and when I installed it, the sound card, which is a Realtek HD audio driver (built in with the motherboard). And after the installation, the sound card no longer shows up anywhere. Its now using the radeon as the default sound source, but I have 5.1 speakers and not 7.1 (the radeon has 7.1 outputs) so that's not an alternative. I was just wondering how i can reconnect the sound card so the computer reads and is functional with it. Tips and advice would be much appreciated as the computer is a lot less fun without sound.

Here is my PC -

Dell Dimension 8100
Pentium 4 1.3 ghz
256 mb ram
Sound Card came with the cpu

I just got a new Vid. Card yesterday - 3d Fuzion Geforce mx4000

When I watch any video or even scroll thru pictures to fast i get all this cracking noise. Is the video card emitting an electric charge thats the soudn cad is picking up?

Thats what I think....or could it be this computer of mine is five years old and i need a new one - the card isnt goin to work to its maximum performance because of that?

Thanks alot. I could live with this problem but now I cant even play Unreal. I cant even adjust the brightness meter in the game. Thats another problem but I dont care about it as much as the sound deal.

Thanks again.

A:Video Card Disrupting Sound Card?

Make sure you have the latest drivers for your video card, sound card, chipset, etc.

Also, if you want, remove the video card, and check if the noise dissapears. My Radeon card makes an "electronic" noise, that dissapears when I remove the card.

Hi all ... I have the nvidia geforce fx 5200 ... it went bad on me after less than four months ... the store agreed to replace it ... got back with the replacement installed it ... let windows get the drivers ... then I started getting all kinds of error messages ...
"igfx tray" stopped
"hkcmd mod" stopped working ...
"dr watson postmortem debugger" error
"windows explorer had to close" error
I went into safe mode in window7 ... I have a dual boot with XP ... I uninstalled the drivers in the device manager ... in the add and remove if the software was there ... I even when into the program files and deleted the nvidia files ... then let windows install the drives again ... still get the same errors. There is nothing in the bios that will disable the on board video ... It must be disabled automatically ... Could it be the replacement card is bad too?

Hi Everybody,

Well, for more that 3 weeks, i can no more RESTART my computer, each time i do so, after the Hewlet Packard screen i hear a BIP BIP noise and says a conflict in PCI#2, where is my card, so no games orinternet or networking...IT SAYS IN CONTROL PANEL,THAT THE VIDEO AND NETWORK DO NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT RESOURCES TO OPERATE (CODE 12)

However, when i SHUT DOWN the computer, it loads normally and i can play games and internet.

I am now afraid of rebooting my pc and i know something is wrong, even after downloading the newest drivers, it restarts good for a little and then conflict again...

Intel celeron 600 MGZ
DLINK Network
Windows XP Pro.

A:Networking card & Video card conflict ???

Depending on the motherboard specifications, your conflict may result in a "shared" IRQ. Some PCI slots try to share resources with others.

For example. On my board I have an integrated sound card right in the motherboard. But I prefer to run my Soundblaster Live card. So I need to install the sound card in PCI slot #3 because the integrated sound and slot#3 share the same resources and IRQ. Then I go into my BIOS settings and disable the internal sound.

If your Network card is in slot#2 try moving it down to PCI slot #4 or 5. These are typically used to install modems. Reboot your system and see if the conflict still exists.

I have an ESS 1869 sound card (IDE) and i never experienced any problems with it. Recently i bought a Realtek RTL8139 Ethernet Card (PCI) since i was getting a DSL connection. At any time the ehternet card is installed the sound card doesnt work. Instead of sounds it gives off "ticks" as if it repeated the beginning if each sound in an ongoing loop. Everything goes back to normal as soon as i remove the NIC. I have the latest drivers for both devices.

Whenever I insert a SD card I get the following error:

This file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action. Please install a program or, if one is already installed, create an association in the Default Programs Control Panel.

I have tried associating the SD to give a pop up for the list of programs, such as Window Live Gallery, Kodak Easy Share, or Wal-mart Photo Manager. And the same error continues to occur.

This is happening on a:
Toshiba L505 running Windows 7, Home Premium
Intel Pentium T4400 Processor
3 Gig DDR3 memory
320 Gig HD.

There is ample HD space, there are no devices showing to have any issues on the device manager.

I can go through explorer and see the card reader and open it and see the pictures. Just the error comes up and never gives option to view or download the pictures.

Any assistance is appreciated

A:SD Card Reader error upon insertion of card

Welcome to Seven Forums shutchens. You say "I have tried associating the SD to give a pop up for the list of programs, such as Window Live Gallery, Kodak Easy Share, or Wal-mart Photo Manager." Did this seem to be successful? If you right click on the disk in explorer and choose open with, does it give you the correct choices? If so, can you choose to always use that choice? I'm bumping this to the top, but also seeking more info. A Guy
