Need Outlook 2003 addon: sort emails in special folders?

Q: Need Outlook 2003 addon: sort emails in special folders?

Hi!

At first I am working with Outlook 2003 and an Exchange 2003 Server.
The Exchange server has a 32 K rule limitation for every user.
For this reason I need an Outlook 2003 addon to sort all incoming mails in special folders.
Is something like this anywhere available?

Gicio

Preferred Solution: Need Outlook 2003 addon: sort emails in special folders?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

SORT? Sort by...?
Do you mean that you want your mails to be moved to certain folders depending on subject or who sent? If so, that is the Rules Wizard. In prior versions, it's under the Tools menu.

A:Can't create folders on storage drives using Windows 7

Which RAID Configuration are you in? I think you may have have it set up incorrectly. Depending on what RAID you are using will depend on how your drives can be used. Let us know what RAID you are running which you should be able to find this in your RAID control panel when you boot into it. Thanks.

I inserted my USB in a friend's laptop and I noticed that they all turned into .exe files. I figured it was only because my friend's laptop was very slow and I think it is infected. But when I inserted the USB back to my laptop, the folders remained as .exe. My laptop is probably clean (undergoing a Redirect malware cleaning as of the moment) but I haven't encountered any problems like this before. I can't format my USB because I need the files. Please help.

A:Folders turned to .exe files

I have scanned my USB with MSE and results show it had Trojan:Win32/Startpage.gen!A virus and MSE quarantined them.
I still can't access my folders even if I type it on the address bar. No malicious items show up on MBAM. Please help me.

We had:

1) 1 Windows Server 2003 running Active Directory services to manage logon and permissions for file sharing.
2) 15 workstations.

We now want to have:

1) 1 Windows Server 2008 R2 server running Active Directory services to manage logon and permissions for file sharing.
2) 15 same workstations, with their same user profiles.

So I joined the 2008 R2 server to the domain, and then used the dcpromo tool to make it a domain controller.

Problem is, whenever I take the old server offline, (the 2003 one) everything flips out, logons are slow, and the 2008 server gives people trying to access shared files weird errors like that the server that authenticated them cannot be contacted, and asks them to log in again with their username and password before accessing shared files on the server.

What did I do wrong? I must be forgetting something.

Hi all

Hopefully I'm posting this in the correct place, Mods please move if not, thanks.

So, I have a bit of a problem. I accidentally deleted the wrong folder from our work server yesterday (Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard), but we have a nightly backup to a tape drive so I went onto the backup software (Symantec Backup Exec 2012) to restore the data. However, using the restore wizard it has been "Querying for data" for approximately 12 hours... is this normal?? Is it possible to restore files/folders from a tape backup, or would we have to restore the whole system? Do I just need to wait a long time for the system to find the data?

We have a spare 2Tb NAS drive so I could potentially restore all of the data to this (approximately 600gb), would this be a more viable approach?

Thanks in advance

A:Problems reading 2TB USB HDD on Server 2003

Usually you will need a 64 Bit system to be able to read any drive with a total compacity of over 500 gigabytes. If possible I would suggest upgrading to Windows Server 2012 in order to fully take advantage of your TB drives.

I just created a temporary 2003 sbs server to test a new payroll system. I used an HP 1520Y as the server. It installed fine, but I can't map to it or from it. A:Hard drive won't open folders help!

Sounds like the folder you are trying to open is referencing a path that does not exist. Try the drive in another computer, try the drive in a different Operating system - see if the issue is still there. The drive might be failing or the data on it is corrupt. try downloading the WD diag utility for windows & test the drive. http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?groupid=218&sid=171&lang=en Post back!

Not sure if this belongs here or on the networking board. Anyway...
We have a network of about 20 pcs. I recently installed four new machines that run Windows 7 with Office 2010. The server is running Server 2003. Three of the machines worked perfectly from the beginning, accessing the server and sharing folders and files. One machine will only open files in "read only" mode. I have shared all the folders and given every permission there is but it will only open the files in "read only". It is a critical accounting machine that has to share and change files. What am I missing?

A:Sharing folders and files in Office 2010

hmm; your wording is imprecise so need to make sure what you mean,

Office 2010 can not be shared other than the Calendar events and that's not done
via "sharing".

You don't state the application that is sharing the common file on the server,
but I assume some accounting system installed on multiple client systems are attempting
concurrent access to the same accounting data.

You don't say if this has ever worked before with this setup or if this is the initial install for the Sharing of the accounting data.

First action is to access that file by only one system at a time (ie: disconnect the mapped Drive letter) and get that working.

Hey TechSpot,

I know it may sound stupid, but is there some sort of handle or attachment for cases to make them portable.
If yes please let me know.

Thanks

A:Is there some sort of handle for cases to make them "portable"?

I am not aware of any - that is what laptops are for. However Cooler Master makes the Storm Scout case with a built in handle on top - but it kind of looks like an old 5 gallon gas can:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811119235

Maybe you could invent something a get rich. Might be a demand for something like that - maybe a could of straps that would wrap around the computer and connect to a handle on top where the straps could be synched up. You could leave it on one computer or use it for any computer you wanted to move or lug around.

It would appear that there was some type of caulking holding the digitizer down. I've managed to hold it in place with 4 drops of superglue in select places. didn't do a heavy duty job, I just want it to stay in place till I can get my hands on the right stuff. Anyone know what kind of glue it is and where I can get some?

Also, when I replaced my digitizer sometimes the screen is unresponsive. It works about 95% of the time but I would like it to work 100% of the time.

My usb drive goes into read only mode when there is 256 folders in it.

Can I get around this?

Are all usb drives like this or does mine suck?

A:Usb drive only 256 folders?

size (the capacity) matters: USB thumbdrives are formatted FAT32 and have restrictions or limits based upon that architecture. While the 256 directory count is bizarre, if the capacity is small, then both the file count and directory count will be low.

I have files and folders I want to put on a USB key to give to someone.
I want to make sure that these files and folders cannot be deleted (the files themselves are secured from editing etc...).
Basically I guess I want the USB to work a bit like a read only disc.
Is there a setting when I transfer files to key or a software.
I do not want to have a password to view/open the files, just to prevent deletion.

A:Can I secure files/folders on a USB key

Than can be done with NTFS permissions - - I did that to mine.

On your home PC, attach the device and make sure you have access to it.

Then you need a setup like this
your PC, using any LUA/UAC account TAKE OWNERSHIP and set Full control
that should leav only that LUA/UAC account with permissions (ie even Administrator and Administrators groups do not show up.)
Now add the EVERYONE id and set Read/Exec/TraverseThe results will be
any pc to which it is attached will have access to the files (including the ability to COPY or Execute),
but only your home PC-that specific LUA/UAC user will be able to modify the contents.

I'm looking to learn more about being a network admin (as well as 30 other IT jobs at my current employer) and was hoping someone on here could point me in the right direction for Windows Server Edition 2003. I don't need to get the certificate, but a general understanding of the functions and such would be of great help. That is to say how to run a DHCP, DNS, Relays, the works.
With that I am looking to work on learning more about the most up to date Windows certification in regards to network administration (for a project in my free time.) I figure since I'm looking into CIS and Business for college I might as well get working on network adminship certification, start off on a good note, right?

i recently got a wireless router(linksys) for my home, it worked fine with compaq laptop (new hence built in wifi) and my desktop. however i had to get TP link wifi device for my ancient sony laptop, i installed the drivers and everything it even shows that its connected to the wireless network. However the network kept disconnecting, so i played around with the settings a little and the internet started working(really slow), however the shared folders were still unaccessible from the sony laptop. Again tweaked the settings and now both internet/sharing does not work. Can any one point in the right direction wether these 2 devices are compatible or the correct settings.

Sony laptop has Windows XP, SP-1
Networking worked fine when i use wired one.

A:Wi-Fi Device connecting with network but Internet/shared folders not accessable

sounds like you're attempting to access files/folders on another system.

First get Internet access running correctly for both systems.

Then set the Workgroup name identically on both systems (see via My Computer)

get to this point and the remainder is in the Print/File Sharing setup ...

follow-up when you have Internet access.

hmm; better check that address. x.y.z.1 is usually the router address, or
if your server is between the ISP and your clients:

Generally is it good to provide more details about your computer and your OS. One quick place to start is always the Task Manager (check out this link on wiki Windows Task Manager ). To see what process is using the most CPU. If you find that out, report back with more details on your system so that someone can help you figure out your issue.

A:Server 2003 Active Directory Problems

You need to have the DNS localized to your systems, but it is not a FULL blown all encompassing system -- just the local SERVER addresses will be there.
You then configure it to perform and external referral to whatever full DNS you please.

Depending upon how the client systems are used, you can have them entered into your DNS when they login and removed with they logout.

I think that I recovered some of my emails and documents after accidently reformatting my computer. However I can't seem to open the documents.
Some say its a shortcut, others are like a pst folder. Plus there were things.
Hope this makes sense. How do I actually open these folders now? It looks like there is something there given the size of it.
Maybe its the blonde in me. I did the recovery with ISO mechanics if that makes a difference.

Thanks so much for any help. These are work documents and spent hours on them and I also had very important emails saved in folder with outlook.

A:How do you open recovered documents and emails?

outlook saves everything in a *.pst file which is located
C:\Documents and Settings\_your_login_\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook\

IF outlook runs at all, then find the specific PST that has a meaningful size and is post dated -- dbl click on it and it should open with all the old content

I went and reformatted my computer, (major issues with it)
Long story short I don't have any of my saved outlook emails etc.
Is there anyway of recovering them? I thought that I did find some but they are
only like shortcuts or it says that I can't open it due to the path etc.

Its for work and I really need my stuff. I would appreciate any help at all.
It was running on Windows XP and had outlook 2007

A:How do I recover lost emails and docs after computer formatted?

You will probably need to use a data recovery program. Most of these are rather expensive however, there are a few free ones around. I've used Pandora Recovery for a lot of clients and had rather positive results.

It is a free download and pretty straight forward to run

Hello; I was hoping someone could help me clear things out for me. I would like to add a domain to act as a backup domain controller in case PDC fails. I have read that I would have to add another domain since there is no BDC in win2003. So after I add a domain to an existing forest how does the fail over works? The second domain controller will be at a remote site. Is there a change I have to make in the router to broadcast or simply point to this new DC from DNS?

thanks for your help.

My smartphone used to sync with the office Exchange Server, but I now want to sync my Outlook contacts with my home PC using standalone Outlook 2003. My PC runs XP SP2 and ActiveSync 4.5. Smartphone is Windows Mobile 6 Standard.

It looks as if I cannot sync Exchage Server contacts to standalone Outlook - if I try to switch to synching with Outlook it tells me the contacts on my phone will be deleted. Is there a safe way of diong this? I would rather retype all my contacts from the phone screen than risk losing them - I can no longer access my former office's Exchange Server.

A:SBS 2003 Premium - No Internet Connectivity - Qwest Modem Issues?

I would suggest a few things:

1. Turn off DHCP on the modem.
2. Assign the Linksys NIC a static IP that is on the same subnet as the LAN of the modem.
3. Set the DNS of both NIC's on your server to the DNS provided by your ISP (this is usually just easier than doing DNS yourself).

You will still be able to use VPN, RDP, and OWA as long as you forward those ports to your servers (linksys NIC) IP address. If you need to know what those ports are, let me know.

I hope I'm putting this in the right place and I know it's probably I really simplistic question, but here it is:

I have Comcast Cable internet via modem that connects to my DLink 4500 gaming router. I have a PC(wired) , Laptop (wireless), another PC(wired), and XBox360(wireless) all connected to the Cable internet and home network.

I was thinking about changing my Comcast mail to Outlook express -- is this a good Idea? Can it be done? If so how do I do it? If I do it will all my mail accounts go through Outlook or can I just do mine and not my son's and husband's? Sorry again if this is not the place, but I figured you're used to newbies not knowing where to post. Thanks

are Pop3 Email Clients.

Hi;

I use my network card to connect directly to another computer for backup, and then I change the network cable and connect to internet with the same network card. Does this make my shared folders (with read/write permissions) more vulnerable to attacks?

I use Win XP sp3

A:Shared folders and security

i take it you don't have a router then or you'd be connecting both computers to that?
How is your backup performed? If its just drag and drop copying then you don't need to open sharing on the folders you are copying if its performed on the 'master' pc.

Ultimately its down to this.....Do you have a firewall running?
That's the security you need to invoke in the first instance.

Windows itself keeps these folders in My Documents
You aren't talking about those required folders are you?

If you are talking about on your flash reader device, you may just need to format it.
Here's a good tool I've used to do that (this will only format Flash Drives, ie remove all data, so backup your flash drive first)

HP USB Disk Storage Format Utility
Http://downloads.pcworld.com/pub/new/utilities/peripherals/SP27608.exe

Will format any USB flash drive
It can be known to recover Flash drives that are un-responsive too.

A:Share Outlook Calendar

For workgroup users (ie those without a domain controller), it is done by sharing
each appointment;

create or open an appointment
click the Attendee Availability tab
at the lower left, click Invite Others
enter the name of the Contact and click find
when selected, click Required or Optional
repeat for all attendees
when done, click OK
as each Contact receives the appointment by email, they accept or decline the schedule
their calendar and yours are updated
and the status of all can be seen using the radio button Show Attendee Status

Lots of valuable information in that file I'd like to access. I was able to create a new Outlook file in safe mode so I guess the program is OK.

It was suggested to me recently the cause may have been due to me having Microsoft Service Pack 1 at the time. I had not updated to Service Pak 2 (which I now believe has been updated to Service Pak 3). Has anyone had experience with this and, if so, do you think there's a chance that if I update my Service Pak that I might still have a chance of recovering the data I had in my original Outlook file?

Hi all I am currently on a voluntary placement in Indonesia helping out an NGO with some I T They have a windows server with the following specs thats causing me some 2003 slow very Windows server running based grief and I was hoping you could help Specs Motherboard Gigabyte GA- I P -G CPU Intel pentium GPU Radeon MB DDR -bit HD Seagate barricuda x GB x GB PSU w XA SIMBIO RAM GB Hynix DDR PC OS Windows server Problem The problem is very slow running and slow response times The PC POSTs normally but loading of the operating system is very slow Windows 2003 based server running very slow It takes - minutes from POST to login screen Loading then takes a long time After this I can open the start menu bit it is a little slow Opening the programs sub-menu is then very very slow causing the computer to freeze Any intensive task also causes the computer to freeze for a long time before the operation is completed What I have Tried I opened the box up to check for dust Its a pretty clean machine CPU temperature is approx c according to BIOS system monitor Several reboots have of course been tried I have tried loading fail-safe defaults Task manager shows no abnormal processes or excessively high usage for any processes I have loaded msconfig and switched to minimal boot This resulted in only a minor improvement Misc The problem is complicated in that this organisation is non-profit and so I cannot simply try replacing parts until something improves My take on the specifications is that this machine should run smoothly I have the option to re-install with windows XP or with server again The machine is intended to be used as a server I was hoping to load MySQL onto it The machine was pretty much unused for a long time before I arrived All suggestions welcome thanks Kris nbsp

So ever since we got our computer back from being wiped (ugly virus, I think the guy said it was a Win32?) about 1/3 of the time we go to a page on the internet we get an error message that says:
"This application has failed to start because iertutil.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."
But we can surpass this problem just by x-ing out of the window and going there again.
So my question is what is that 'application' and where do I find it?
Oh, and this seemed like the right place to post this (not too sure though). But if it's not the right place, sorry!

Techspotters,

This should be simple to fix but I'm having a problem figuring it out. A customer as 4 PCs, all running XP. 3 are XP Pro and one is XP Home. All are connected peer-to-peer through a router. Assigned all of them to a new workgroup and they can see each other. There is one PC that the others cannot access its shared folders. We can access its shared printer folder. Searched the web and tried various solutions including editing the registry but still nothing's working. We get the error "\\Dad\c is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource" and either "not enough server storage is available to process this command" or "the network path is not found" Also, this one is a laptop that is connceted wirelessly whereas the others are connected directly to the router.

Any suggestions?

A:Cannot Access Shared Folders on XP Network

Sometimes there's nothing simple about Windows Networking and File Sharing!

You said they can all see each other?

The only issue is accessing a shared folder on one of the PCs? But the shared printers on that PC are accessible?

To make this easier to discuss particulars, could you tell me the following about each computer and then i (we) can both refer to a machine by name to avoid confusion.

- Machine Name
- XP Pro or XP Home?
- LAN or Wireless connected

And which computer (tell me machine name) has a shared folder not accessible to others.

Also, it sounds like the problem is down to just an authentication issue but i'll offer these links as fyi's you may want to at least skim through to check things. Also, we'll also probably find LanSpy (described in Part1) helpful to diagnose this

Hi, i do have a Linksys ISR, windows 2003 enterprise edition and a Public IP address. I would like to setup an FTp site on the windows 2003 pc using my public IP. I successfully managed to do it over the LAN and both downloads and uploads are fine however when it comes to setting it up over the Internet i terribly misfire. I do not have any experience in setting up a public IP and i do not know how to configure it on the machine so that it's accessible over the internet.
any help will be more than appreciated.

A:Setting up a remote FTP server on windows 2003

I am not an expert on this subject, but have you opened up a specific port on the Linksys router for your remote FTP Client to get into the LAN and be forwarded to the FTP Server? My router requires this for an remote application to get into the network.

I have a dual boot XP Pro and Ubuntu Gutsy Gibbon. Mostly I use the Linux OS for everyday use and web access. I tried to connect to the web in XP and it tells me there is no connection. The icon on the taskbar shows that I am connected at 1 GB to the network. Microsoft downloaded updates in the background so I am connected yet Firefox and Ie7 tell me I'm not connected. I ran the connection wizard(s) with no luck. I ran the Dx and it reported a problem with the winsock catalog and I asked it to reset it to the default but that didn't work either, I have had a connection in the past. How to proceed?

So I just set up my old laptops harddrive as an external harddrive. When I tried accessing a folder that was hidden it denied me access. I read around and found turning off simple file sharing than right clicking the hidden folder and going to sharing and security tab. From here I was supposed to do a few things under the security tab but it will not let me do this. When I click sharing and security a message comes up saying I do not have permission to view or edit current permission settings. How can I fix this or how can I access the hidden folder?

How do I disable/change certain IRQ's and Resources in a Server 2003 envrionment? I am having a IRQ 15 conflict, between the Secondary IDE Channel and the System Board. How do I go about changing one of these to a different IRQ? I have 3 or 4 that are available. Windows also will not let me change or realocate resources (the area on the interface is grayed out).and being that I just built this machine and am the admin, I have all rights and permissions.

A:IRQ Conflicts with Server 2003

Not a good thing to do. What happened to the defaults normally selected at start-up?
IRQ's about 12 are trouble to deal with, unless you haver very specific changes in mind. Since you apparently built the system, the answers should be in your motherboard manual.

A:Can't sort out internet

So, hopefully you reformatted, reinstalled the OS, and then reinstalled the chipset drivers.

You will need to reinstall your Network Adapter drivers from your accessory cd that came with the mobo (if the adapter is onboard) or with the card (if a PCI slot adapter card).

With a wireless connection, I believe you then need to go into the Control Panel and click on 'Wireless Network Setup Wizard'.

Hey Techspot,
The other computers in my network have trouble accessing certain shared folders on my main computer. I have three drives installed, C: my OS drive, and D: and B: file drives. My C: Public folder, another folder on C: and my entire D: drive have been shared for a long time, and are the only paths the other computers can access. Anything I try to share now (except stuff on the D: drive, since the entire thing is share-enabled) will return the "is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource." error.
I can understand why a computer in it's entirity wouldn't be accessible across a network, but as to why certain locations wouldn't work - some on the same drive as locations that do work - I'm at a loss.
Thanks in advance!

Well I got two questions really, is there a way I can do things like block people who login from using run, task manager, Off button. I know I can change all this sort of stuff by editing reg values on each of the computers but is there a way to do it from the server. If it is possible to apply these rules to certain user groups it would also be really useful.

How do I turn off the password rules? you know the way windows will only accept the password if it has a caps letter and numbers and so forth, I find these rules fairly annoying and I do not need this much security.

A:Windows 2003 DNS server questions

The answers require way too long a response for this forum. We recommend you obtain copies of

Windows Server 2003: A Beginner's Guide (Beginner's Guide) by Martin S Matthews (Paperback - April 11, 2003)

and

Microsoft Windows Server(TM) 2003 Inside Out by William R. Stanek (Paperback - Jul 7, 2004)

Or similar books, or Windows Service 2003 knowledgebase articles at www.micrpspft/com.

Otherwise, you need an expensive Network consultant. They start in most locals at $85 an hour and sometimes $135 an hour. They have spent a great deal of time hands on getting to a point where they can advise you.

I am unable to connect from my XP Home SP2 machine to 2003 Server. I was able to connect and use remote desktop initially. I then configured another XP Pro SP2 machine -- no problem. Now when I try to connect, I get the following message:

The terminal server has exceeded the maximum number of allowed connections.

How do I increase the # of allowed connections?

Hi,
I need a hardware monitor software that can alert me or can take actions(such as shutting down the PC) when the CPU reaches a temperature defined by me. I mean I will set a temperature like 60C at which the program will alert me of high temp. (even if i m playing a game but running this software in background). Or it will take some certain actions at the specified temperature like shutting the PC down etc.etc.

If you have any info. regarding such kinds of softwares then please reply with the software name(s) or website link(s) here.

I need such kind of software coz i have just OCed my Pent D 2.8 to 3.0 Ghz with stock fans. So, i m afraid of burning my CPU. And also i dont wanna keep staring at Speedfan temps continuosly. IDLE temp after OCing is 44C.

I am looking for a little help. Here is what I am looking to do:

I am working on a Windows 2003 server. It is a Domain Controller so it holds a copy of the Active Directory. I have several security groups created - no distribution groups. I have another sever that serves as the file server. I want to know if there is a way to pick a security group and find every file or directory that they have access to.

If anyone knows of anything please land a hand.

Thanks,
OnePCTech

A:Windows 2003 Active Directory Users/Groups

Yes. If you are administrator, use the administrative manual... it is all a matter of how you set it up.

On the server hard drive, there are files there, (file server),

I checked all permissions and everything is fine., however.. Every time one of the domain users goes to delete a file or a folder that they no longer use on the server hard drive, the files come back the next day.

the process has been going on for about 3 weeks now, I cant seem to figure out where the files come back from, I see them removed from the server and then the next day they no longer are there..

any idea what might be causing this?

A:Server 2003 Won't Delete my files. Help!

Actually I think I might have solved this, I am running a program called SyncBack, it syncs the data from the server to the external hdd, the "copy file to source" was selected when the destination file exists, but the source doesn't.

I will see if this fixes the issue.

I have replaced an NT primary domain controller with a server I still have an Nt server as an application server and NT server 4 Domain in accessing 2003 a as a Backup Domain Controller It has been running fine until I add a new user that was never in the old domain Any new users that get added cannot authenticate to the NT server All the previous users were already in the accessing NT 4 server in a 2003 Domain BDC when I change over I cannot figure out why I can authenticate as Administrator and any old users I have sp a loaded someone said this would help and have even added the new users to the Domain Admin group but still nothing I cannot upgrade the Nt server as the application is an ERP system that is run throughout the company and I am told will not be supported in anything other than the NT environment If I add users on the NT first it updates the PDC just fine but I still can t access the shares Any Ideas Rdb nbsp

A:accessing NT 4 server in a 2003 Domain

Try demoting the NT4 server so it is no longer a DC and integrating it through DNS into your network.

Because your NT4 server is PDC, there is alot to do in order to keep the NT4 server as a DC and integrate it into a Server 2003 Schema AD network.
It is really not worth doing to be honest! Your NT4 server should run fine as a server, but not as a DC within your Server 2003 environment.
