On board plus two SLI cards

Q: On board plus two SLI cards

Hey everyone!

I know this might not be possible but I'm wondering if you can uses two SLI cards, but use the on board port to push the output video. I have two 9800 GT cards with dual DVI connections. The motherboard has a HDMI output and I would like to hook this pc to my HDTV. I can hook the the on board port just fine but the system doesn't use the graphic cards at all. Is their a way to make the graphics cards work when their ports are not in use? Thanks in advance!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: On board plus two SLI cards

obviously it wouldn't work. you cannot expect the graphic card to output the display to onboard HDMI port right? it's time for DVI to HDMI converter.

Does anyone out there has experimented to use a Sound Card on a IBM Power 7 server running AIX 7.1

I know the card should be a PCIe lo profile to match the hardware. My concern is mainly with having the system recognize the card and drivers on AIX.

Evening, all

I bought an interesting little Single Board Computer as an mITX motherboard (a WADE-8020, more info at the link below):

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Portwell-...766?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3a9b75151e

I have another similar board in an old Hoojum Cubit 3 case, and was wondering if anyone might have any other suggestions for a similarly eye-catching case, probably ready-made, though I'm not averse to either buying a DIYed case, or maybe trying to make one myself (I have a Dremel but not much else, and that includes skill )

Cheers, Jon.

Hello,

I am looking into upgrading one of our conference rooms at work with something that can provide output to at least 2 HDTV and 1 projector, with the future of a 3rd hdtv.

I been out the loop for awhile with video cards, and wanted to know if anybody knows of a way this can be done with a possible video card that has 4 hdmi outputs? They will be (2) 55 inch hdtvs and a projector which should output its own resolution

Thanks for the help ahead of time.

A:Any video cards with 4 HDMI outputs?

No video cards I know of have 4 HDMI outputs, but you can find plenty of cards that have that many if you combine DVI + Displayport. You could always use DP converters to HDMI got get the appropriate number of connections, but remember that after 2 non DP devices you'll need to start using Active Converters if you plan to keep the signal digital.

It saves money on R&D and manufacturing as you don't have to research anything new or get in/ change any equipment which is good for the business as it's saving costs, but it is poor for technology and comes across as incredibly lazy. It's 2015 and they're still releasing cards produced in 2012, at least Nvidia cards offer some improvements, even if they are a rebrand.

Hi Guys,
What is the succession of nVidia cards in this linage GTX 960, GTX 970 GTX 980 Titan-X all with Maxwell architecture as in the dates of release?...(obviously the Titan was just announced last week!)
Just trying to work out a purchase option, being that this range is based in two CPU chipsets that of the LGA1155 and the LGA2011-v3.
How long would the wait be, before nVidia released a graphics card that was design based, entirely on the LGA2011-v3 socket?
As I need to upgrade my machine in the next month and am opting for the LGA2011-v3 path.

Kind of a curly question

A:What is the succession of nVidia cards?

U listed The cards in as the better, u're 1155 chipset would run any of these card fine. PIC-E 16 is all the speed u can get on any socket, the LGA2011-v3 will just give u more lanes for more cards to run on. That does not mean they will run faster unless u are already filling up the lanes (most boards will run SLI) at least 1155 boards and upwards. the list as in slower to faster is GTX960, GTX970, GTX980, and the Titan-X being the fastest.
the only way any thing is going to speed up is if u are trying 3 way SLI.

I was wondering what makes NVidia's quadro cards so much more expensive than even the high end gaming GPUs? I know there more for the "workstation" PC and are used more for 3d modeling and such with programs like 3ds max and maya but what exactly do these quadro cards have that the high end gaming GPUs don't? More cuda processors? Higher Memory bus width? The reason I am asking is because I recently purchased a GTX 780 SC and was thinking of getting into either 3ds max/maya in the near future. Would purchasing another GTX 780 and putting into sli configuration help with programs like max and maya? Thanks for the any help!

To answer your question, the Quaddro series of cards or FirePro for AMD are different from the gaming cards because they re-purpose the cards for straight up compute. The software included with them and drivers along with some additional features make them poor at gaming but better in the fields of compute/cuda dev/opencl/etc. Also those cards in most cases also cram more RAM than the standard card models for higher rendering among other things.

You will be fine with a 780 for the basics of 3DS max and maya and adding another would be somewhat beneficial later down the line but you can definitly use your superclock GTX 780 for this and get decent performance for these programs.

Hey all,

On my studio pc, I've installed a new rack mounted firewire audio interface in the studio. On the other drives (windows 8.1) the interface has installed perfectly but on the xp drive, although the drivers etc have been installed, once set, it works perfectly with the new outboard soundcard.

However, whenever I reboot to the xp drive, xp always reverts back to the on-board realtek sound card. I set the default to the new interface (a Presonus Firestudio Project) but every reboot it defaults to the realtek.

The motherboard is a P5N-E SLI if that helps.

How can I stop this happening so the new interface is the default?

Thanks in advance,

Paul

I have an AMD Sapphire 6950. It is about 2 and one half years old. I have noticed in the past few months that when I am playing games it makes a resonating noise.

Even a simple game like League of Legends, a game with low demands, causes my card to make this noise.

Thoughts?

Hi first off ill let u know what im dealing with for specs...

Windows 7 ultimate - emachines el1333g amd processor 1800mhz
integrated nvidia geforce 6150

just added - radeon x1300/x1500 256mb

I installed the radeon and hooked up dual monitors via splitter

Now my questions are about using the integrated graphics as well.

Can I enable the integrated nvidia to use a 3rd monitor? I believe I can thru bios, but am nervous about bios.
Would enabling it help system performance even if not using a 3rd monitor?
Would enabling it help system performance if I used 1 monitor per video card instead of both thru the new radeon?

Thank you in advance

I'm going to say no.

The reason I say that is unless you can connect the onboard graphics in SLI/Crossfire, the moment you insert the dedicated card, the onboard graphics will be disabled. Since you have nVidia onboard and inserted an AMD card, I know SLI/Crossfire is out of the question. But who knows, I could be wrong because I definitely don't know it all.

I will say making BIOS changes is not damaging. If you make a change that keeps the machine from posting, you can always pull the coin sized battery to default all the settings.

http://www.microcenter.com/product/...adeon_R7-260X_2GB_GDDR5_PCIe_30x26_Video_Card

I realize the PCIe 3.0 will fit to the motherboard, but I do not know if it will be compatible.

I do not understand the difference betweeen DDR3, DDR5 and GDDR5.

Thanks for help!

A:What video cards will support this?

Yes, those two items will be compatible with each other.

DDR3 & DDR5 are VRAM types and GDDR5 is a motherboard RAM identification.

For the future, you can go >>here<< and all your parts to see if there will be any issues with compatibility.

But keep in mind that there can be other compatibility issues such as the graphics card being too long to fit in the case.

A:Three long beeps on Intel desktop board D850MV/D850EMV2

I think three beeps on Intel is a memory issue. At least that what it was when I had a stick of cheap RAM crap out on me.

I'd run Memtest and go from there

RAM can fail from a number of causes. Heat exposure, flaky transistor junctions, who knows. I seriously doubt plugging the TV in had anything to do with it.
You could go into BIOS to ascertain if the RAM voltage is set correctly. Over-volting is a DIMM killer.

You should be able to get documentation for that board directly off Intel's web site. Intel used to give BIOS beep codes ion the board/chipset manuals.

They also have hardware monitor software as a free download. Look up "Intel Desktop Utilities Lite".

It all started when I tried to install new audio drivers from manufacturers page, but the next day when I booted PC up there were no sound. In Device Manager, under Sounds, game,.. controllers tab sit 4-5 High Definition Audio Devices. Here's pic:

Then tried re-installing original audio drivers from motherboard CD, enabling/disabling On-Board HD Audio in BIOS but still no luck.

My Audio Device is VIA VT1705.
DxDiag shows that no sound card was found.

This is what is shown in Playback Devices tab:

I was just wondering what specifications you should pay attention to when comparing graphics cards. I was just looking at base clock and boost clock speeds on a couple different cards and noticed, for example, that the GTX 770 actually has higher base and boost clocks than the GTX titan. This leads me to believe that there is a lot more to it than base and boost clock speeds since obviously the GTX titan is better than the 770.

A:What to look for in Graphics cards?

They are different video cards, the GTX 770 is essentially an overclocked GTX 680 with a higher memory bandwidth so its a different GPU than the GTX titan and 780 and a different amount of cuda cores. Because of this, it can do higher clocks to keep up performance while the other cards have more Cuda cores but will consume much more power and heat to do the same clocks which is why they don't do it. Its all about that balance!

A:Question about config + graphics cards

You're spending way too much on CPU/MOBO, with a low-end cooler, instead of pumping cash into GPU.

- Get a HD7970 or a GTX770 at minimum.
- Maybe make changes to that PSU, it's not the best brand I hear, and 700W doesn't leave room for expansion.

Rule number one:- if it isn't broken then don't fix it.

The issue here is windows will not format Fat32 above 32gb, so invoking the formatter when all you needed was to delete the file was a major mistake.

Is it accurate to say that usb headphones do not use computer internal sound cards, but instead have their own built in sound cards?

I.e. choose between USB heaphones OR headphones with regular jack and an internal sound card?

A:USB headphones do not use internal sound cards

Yes thats right. they have built-in dac or so called soundcard in their usb circuitry. I'd go with usb headphone unless the price difference is significant or I have better soundcard installed.

I found that their are minimal amount of choices for video cards as mainly everything they had was DDR5. So I started looking at motherboards and found that all of the ones I saw were DDR3 boards. I am not able to play 1080P videos and crackling sounds are coming if I play any 720p videos......not for gaming purpose. some times suddenly computer hangs in the middle and responds 2mins later, especially in Windows8 OS. in windows experience performance graph.....the least rated I.e. 2.0 for desktop graphic performance only....remaining things are rated very good.

A:New board, no sound from front or rear jacks

Have you gone into the sound menu in your control panel and set your default audio device to your headset?

If, under the "playback" tab, the HDMI output is ticked, then this is the problem.

Just click on the correct device(It should either list your headphones or say "high definition audio", or something similar) and then click "set default".

This should solve the problem.

No
The 220 is less than half the performance value of an 8800. Of the 200 series, you would need a 260 to better a 8800.

Personally, I'd go for GTX 550Ti or better as they are the newest GPU's and use less power for their performance level.

Hello there,
I'm having a laptop with Core i3 2350M processor and was suprised when I read on Notebookcheck.net that this processor has an intergrated Intel HD3000 graphics card inside it. At the moment I'm using AMD Radeon HD7470M 1GB dedicated graphics card and I was wondering is there any way to enable that Intel integrated GPU to work along with the AMD card? I understand that I can't pair them with Crossfire because one is Intel one AMD but I think I read somewhere that you can run 2 different gpus without cf or sli but they will work different or something like that (one will just take a load off from another)...That's why I'm here asking you can this be done or I'm just hallucinating...

A:Pairing two different cards

I don't think it can be done. But I think I heard somewhere that the integrated GPU inside the CPU helps with video rendering, but I could very well be wrong about that.

Hello Everyone,

Been a long time browser of TS and am glad to finally join. I am looking to utilize a Q6600 processor and the following system board and RAM:

ASUS P5G41T-M LX Plus
Corsair XMS3 1333MHz PC3-10666

The goal is to moderately overclock the Q6600 to 3.2 GHz. In my research, I have read many positive reviews about the stability of ASUS boards, and the DDR3 capability is significant to me. However, from what I have gathered, this board can be fussy when overclocking the CPU. Has anyone had any experience with a similar setup?

I would appreciate any thoughts/comments/suggestions.

Thank you!

A:New project: LGA 775 board w/ DDR3 needed -- thoughts please?

Firstly, why do you need to overclock it? I'm guessing its more because you want to, than necessity, but my thoughts are below.

I run the exact same CPU in my system 24/7 and while it might be long in the tooth compared with most systems on here, it's certainly not lacking at stock speeds as it is.

Not sure if system specs is easily read right now, but for the sake of doubt, mine are: Intel Core2Quad Q6600 G0 stepping (at stock OC with Corsair H50 (push/pull) providing cooling), Abit AW9D-MAX, 8GB OCZ Gold series DDR2-1066, HD6870, Antec HCG-620 PSU, a SSD and six mechanical disks.

I wouldn't call 3.2GHz a moderate OC on the Q6600, that's more like 2.8-3.0GHz. I used to have mine overclocked but the difference was so minimal (in real terms) that the additional heat it gave off and power it consumed made it pointless. I was never able to achieve 3.05GHz or above either, but I've no doubt that more experienced hands would have managed it. Overclocking is my weaker subject in the field of IT generally speaking, and I can't say I've ever really pushed the envelope very far in that regard.

Though that said, I've always found Gigabyte boards to be much more forgiving when it comes to RAM settings. Asus in my experience can be a real nightmare with recognising the default timings and voltages for RAM, and in "my experience" need much more work to achieve the same result.

Another point that needs to be considered is LGA-775 is legacy hardware now, so you'd be spending money on defunct hardware. If you have the CPU it might be better to grab a second-hand board off of eBay or something, or maybe look to something newer and more current.

Bought me recently a new MoBo: P8H67, installed it, killed Realtek onboard in the BIOS, all thus far goes splendid.
Put in SoundMax (from my P5E Lifestyle), hardware checks ok.
Install driver... and here things go awkward: no matter what I try: SoundMax Hi Def is not found/recognized.
Tried both the DVD-soft that came with me P5E, as well as online new drivers, to no use...

Reason for SoundMax: I was slightly baffled by the power behind the tiny card, it was literally mindblowing (over my JBL's).
This power is not found on Realtek hardware, hence.

Prob: I want to keep using the tiny SoundMax, but I desperately need a driver.

Suggestions?

Thank you all:

A:I have two graphics cards. What does it mean?

you have 2 graphics cards. one is dedicated, in your laptop solely for the purpose of providing graphics (the radeon). The other, the intel HD graphic family, is built into your processor. Chances are, the radeon is better. Although i dont know, depending on what radeon model you have. almost all of them will be better than the intel though.

So i am buying a new Gigabyte G1 Sniper motherboard and 2 new ASUS Radeon 6970 DirectCU II 2GB, will my 850w power supply still be enough?

A:New motherboard and two new graphics cards

If you're still planning on OC'ing the CPU -and presumeably the cards...then probably depends on the power efficiency of the PSU and age...and how much power in reserve you're comfortable with. You were talking about taking the 950 to 4GHz...that's pushing into the 180-200w zone. Crossfired cards will likely take you to ~550w. Overclocking the cards to any reasonable extent could add another 100w - say 650w system total.

850w PSU @ 85% efficiency = 723w. Anything less than 85% might be pushing it.

Hi guys

I posted a few weeks ago re upgrading my old Ge Force 6800 to something a bit more up to date, but have since decided I'd be better to go the whole hog and get a new rig.

I'm looking at a choice between the following:

Dual nVidia GTX 550 Ti 1GB PCI Express Graphics Card
or
ATI HD6870 1GB PCI Express Graphics Card

I gather the dual nvidias would be faster than the individual ATI, but would it be a marked increase? (I'm looking at the moment to play Skyrim at a decent rate, but obviously there's the future to consider).

I've not had a system with 2 gpus before - is there anything I need to be aware of or is it basically the same as having 1 card to the end user?

Any advice much appreciated!

Connecting two nVidia SLI or two ATI Crossfire cards together would practically double your performance while connecting them together as if they were one card. There are issues that can arise from SLI or Crossfire (I have only read about the issues), so if possible it might be best to get the performance you need from one card.

If you are thinking about SLI or Crossfire for a future upgrade, you might consider changing the 550Ti to 560/560Ti. The 560/560Ti closer matches performance of the HD 6870.

I've not had a SLI or Crossfire system either so consider my post as opinion based on what I have read over the last two years. Even though not completely accurate, I base allot of performance levels from PassMark - G3D Mark. The reason for the inaccuracy is mostly from the scores being influenced by Over-Clockers. The benchmarks do give a general guideline for performance.

Personally if I was building a computer without having any hardware to start with I would probably aim for a higher end single card rather than 2 older and now mid range 460 GTX cards. That way in the future you can pickup another higher performance card and then use SLI.

As for mATX and SLI, as long as the board supports it then there is no problem. You have stated its in a full tower so airflow won't be a problem. You might find some problems such as PCI 1x slot blocked/unusable when you have two double slot (two expansion slot height) PCI-E graphics cards in the motherboard.

Ok, recently, it was confirmed that in order to run Battlefield 3 on Ultra you will need 2 graphics card. Now here is my question, what will I need in order to be able to support these 2 cards.

The cards are 2 Radeon HD 6850.
I have AMD Athlon II X2 255 Processor 3/11 dual core.
8.00GB RAM
Crosshair IV formula motherboard
Power Supply - 350w (I know I need to upgrade, but I don't know how much I should have.)

A:What do I need to run two graphics cards?

I think you misread the quote from the EA guy. He said that you will need two GTX 580's (or equivalent) to run BF3 on highest settings. Two HD 6850's are are about equal to one GTX 580. You will be able run the game with one or two HD 6850's, just not on highest settings if this person is to be believed.
You will need a PSU of 600w BTW. Secondly, BF3 is going to use up to 8 cores like it's predecessor and using a dual core is going to limit things for you.

Need info old board P4SD-VL

Hi,

<I'm trying to fix a very old pc; it's almost ready but I can't set front USB ports.>

That´s what I said. But more than a simple thing I need; USB frontal ports are working now. The matter is I can´t find drivers to set Sound, LAN, Modem... The pc is working fine, I've installed operating system, office programs and some other software without trouble.

Thanks in advance for your help.

hello, ive had this desktop computer for years now and the processor is extremely outdated. I have been looking around trying to figure out how i can upgrade the processor speed but it seems the more i look up the less i know about computers...

anyways i have: Board: MICRO-STAR MS-7184
Serial Number: 5922655884

current proccessor: 2.00 gigahertz AMD Athlon 64
256 kilobyte primary memory cache
1024 kilobyte secondary memory cache
64-bit ready
Not hyper-threaded

I believe the socket is a 939? when i looked up these specs i found that the highest processor i can place is " AMD Athlon 64 X2 (up to 4800+) and Sempron (up to 3200+) processors".

Can anyone verify this?Or is it not worth investing in a new processor? i am looking to find the best upgrade rather then spending cash to buy a new computer. Any advice would be extremely appreciated.

A:Looking to upgrade processor, board Micro-Star MS-7184

Hey Noctis,

Truth be told you are better off upgrading your Motherboard, RAM, and Processor if you want to see any substantial difference. A socket 939 is quite a bit old and since then they have move onto the AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, etc sockets for AMD Mobos and Processors.

Socket 939 processors are to the point where they are no longer just old enough to be cheap. Since they are no longer made they are old enough to be more expensive than modern counterparts in many cases.

When upgrading the MOBO and CPU you want to look into more than just the processor speed. Important factors are also the types and amount of cache for a processor, number of cores, and RAM that can be used with that CPU.

The newer Athlon II X2s as an example are a significant leap from the original Athlon 64s and a discerning buyer online can find them significantly cheap. AM2+ boards are currently somewhat inexpensive and so is DDR2 RAM. They are currently at the stage where they are old enough to be somewhat cheap but with the newest socket and processors being sold by AMD now it may change iwthin the next few years to start getting expensive again from being old enough.

You also have the route of a AM3 with DDR2 or DDR3 Ram option available which are also moderately priced.

If you check out the website pricewatch.com you can look at pricing for several different mobos, cpus, etc from various websites easily. I just completed a full build including case, HDD, Mobo, CPU, DVD-RW, RAM, Graphics card, etc for just over $350.00

Hello Techspot,

I have an old DVD drive that uses an IDE port. I am thinking of getting the IDE cards. Does anyone have them, or does anyone know if they work well?

Thanks

A:Are IDE cards good?

You would be better just getting a sata DVD drive. They aren't particularly expensive nowadays. I think the data transfer speeds don't really benefit from sata but I'm guessing an IDE card for PCI-x is going to be much the same cost as a cheap DVD drive.

I have been doing a little searching and I found out that the AMD APUs can work with other AMD video cards, but have to be in the 6000 series. Does this mean that if I added a 6990 or 6950 it would be compatible with the APU?

no but i am also curious since crossfire x allows u to crossfire any cards from within the same generation that would be interesting to hybrid crossfire the apu with another 6 series card.

I am going into my fourth year of architecture school and I am building a desktop. I plan on using my system for Adobe cs5, CAD, Revit, 3ds max, Maya, Ecotect, Virtual Enviroment, Rhino, and Grasshopper. I am having trouble deciding on a graphics card. Is it necessary to have a workstation graphic card to do 3d modeling with these programs? If so, what type of card would you reccomend, Nvidia or ATI?

List of requirements given by the school:
Intel® Core? i7
12 GB+ Memory
2TB Hard Drive
Dual 20"+ monitors
DVD±RW Drive
Dedicated ATI or nVidia video adapter with at least 1-2GB memory
Wireless Network Adapter
Windows 7 ® Home Premium (64-bit)

A:Workstation graphic cards vs. consumer cards

The last question is the easiest - I would go with nVidia because their CUDA processing engine accelerates many of the applications you use. I know Adobe CS5 and Maya take advantage of it but don't know about the rest of the applications you listed.

Adobe CS5 added acceleration for multiple applications with the Mercury Playback Engine which is designed specifically for more recent nVidia cards with the CUDA feature set.

Third party review and recommendations for use with CS5 (the card list starts about half way down the page)

CUDA (see more info below about CUDA) supported graphics cards (note that the GeForce or mainstream and gamer cards (for desktop and laptop PCs) are listed near the bottom of the page:

nVidia provides information touting how much their cards accelerate Adobe CS5, including general description about CUDA with internal links to more info for advanced users:a

The choice between workstation vs. gaming cards is a little more difficult. The higher end gaming cards are very similar to the lower end gaming cards, the difference is primarily in the drivers and service. Workstation drivers have been more finely tuned to the kinds of work done in WS applications - but this can have a signficant impact on performance for those applications. Morever, with the higher price you pay buys you better, generlly quicker support for dealing with issues.

I think the choice must depend on how and how much you use the cards. If you use the applications for several hours a day, the higher productivity of the workstation station cards may pay for the higher cost several times over. Otherwise you might do just as well with the gaming cards.

If you decide to go with gaming cards, you might find some helpful information on upgrading video cards at upgradevideocards.com, but they have no information on workstation cards:

I believe I am talking about quot fake quot raid here To the point I am building a file server using FreeNAS with a PC thats over a few years old I d say around - years RAID best PCIe, option? PCI and cards, wanting to set up a RAID function with this I ve learned after a bit of reading that there are such things as fake raid where the processor actually handle where the data goes and this is fine as these RAID cards, PCI and PCIe, best option? also seem to be much cheaper I m using a bit older mobo can post model later upon request that has SATA ports for RAID or I am considering getting a card to support up to HDDs Here are options I ve been looking at Syba PCI Express SATA II x Ports RAID Controller Card SY-PEX Adaptec RAID SA - Storage controller RAID - Channel - SATA- low profile - MBps - RAID JBOD - PCI Express x SYBA SY-PCI PCI Low Profile SATA II Gb s Controller Card Adaptec -R SA PCI Express X -Port SATA GBS Low-profile Host RAID Controller Now I realize Amazon com doesnt give good descriptions Also is there a RAID function build into FreeNAS I cannot seem to get window shares to work with that so I still need to work that out using nbsp

A:RAID cards, PCI and PCIe, best option?

Here are options I've been looking at.

Syba PCI Express SATA II 4 x Ports RAID Controller Card SY-PEX40008

Adaptec RAID 1430SA - Storage controller (RAID) - 4 Channel - SATA-300 low profile - 300 MBps - RAID 0, 1, 10, JBOD - PCI Express x4

SYBA SY-PCI40026 PCI Low Profile SATA II (3.0Gb/s) Controller Card

Adaptec 2240900-R 1430SA PCI Express X4 4-Port SATA 3GBS Low-profile Host RAID ControllerClick to expand...

Adaptec has been the leader for decades and using the CARD avoids the 'fake-raid' software implementation. One big advantage is the card completes the operation without the assistance of the CPU.

Once you opt for the raid-controller card, you (imo) really ought to go with
SCSI attached devices which give you hotplug support and dynamic raid recovery.[x]

Be carefull: Even Microsoft does not recommend attempting to boot from a Raid.
Raid is a server function to avoid a single point of failure, and even with Raid-1 or Raid-10, you still need a backup system.

[x]The NAS Raid-x is frequently SCSI internally for these reasons

I upgraded from a single GTX 275 to crossfire XFX HD6870s. Motherboard ASUS P6T Deluxe V2.

Now I am strictly speaking of in game (Black Ops) not benchmarks...

I may have had my expectations too high.. but I expected some higher frame rates...

With the GTX 275 I managed to get around 90 - 100 fps.

Now I installed the two 6870s and I am still getting between 90 - 100 fps, and in fact drops down below 60 fps at certain points in the game (online multiplayer) I have played with the settings in game, but not many settings in the CCC except for enabling crossfire mode.

Am I expecting too much, or am I doing something wrong here?

So I have two GTX465s, and normally they're suppose to be idling at .88V and they peak at about .97. However, one card is always at around .96 and the other is at .88. The odd card is also running a little warmer. I tried MSI afterburner. It helped it idle at .88, however, after the odd card reaches the peak again, it won't go back down to idle core voltage and stays at .96v.

If the all use the reference design then it's usually just what's included in the box and maybe the warranty. Some use different heatsinks and fans, some overclock the cards a little.

Hi!

So I would need help setting up my LAN and limiting the network speed (max dl/ul).

Are there some kind of programs or something for that? -I have tried NetLimiter but with it I can only limit the "bridging" computers upload and download and not the different network cards speeds.

The limitations has to be made on this computer (aka wannaB server) and not on the separate computers that are connected to it.

Network cards:
Oliv - needs to be limited to max download ~150kB/s and upload 25kB/s (this one is connected even if it says it's not)
Switch - no need to limit or anything
ADSL Modem - as it says, this is where the interweb comes from

A:How could I limit network speed between different "cards"?

What OS the Pro or Home? If you got the Pro you can go into Group Policy and make some bandwidth restrictions. By default it's 20%. You can raise that up higher. Under QoS.

A:Graphics cards frying?

First question is if your computer was on when you last left it, and was it on or off when you found it? If it was off/off, then a short circuit is less likely. If it was left on, and it was off after the cat attack, then the accident might have shorted something out.

Next question, when you found the monitor, did it fall in such a way that the cable was too short, and so it ended up dragging the case with it, or putting extra pressure on the video card?
Cause if that happened, it might have tweaked the video card in the slot on the motherboard, and maybe even the slot.

What I would also do is take a very careful look around the motherboard there and see if there are any cracks, or other damage to the motherboard as a result of this.

When you put in the old graphics card and it worked briefly, were you using the monitor that fell, or the other one?

Your RAM needs 2.6 volts although it should still run if your motherboard supported it in the first place. You might be able to bump up the voltage in the BIOS but I can't say for sure.

Okay, my board is as described. I have a black bank and a blue bank. I plan on upgrading to 8 gigs of RAM this spring. With my motherboard's setup, would I benefit more from 2 sticks of 4 gig RAM or 4 sticks of 2 gig RAM?

A:Asus a8r32 MVP-deluxe, any good compatible video cards?

Any PCI-e x16 video card will work... Your motherboard can accommodate 2 of these video cards

im about to buy a laptop, Dell Inspiron 15R; there are 2 of them, that have the same price and are almost the same, but the graphics cards and I would like someone to tell me which GPU will perform better in games such as Call of Duty Black Ops and Modern Warfare 2 (2 main ones)
so the 2 cards are:
HD 550v: http://www.amd.com/us/products/notebook/graphics/ati-mobility-hd-560v/Pages/hd-560v-specs.aspx
HD 5650: http://www.amd.com/US/PRODUCTS/NOTEBOOK/GRAPHICS/ATI-MOBILITY-HD-5700/Pages/hd-5650-specs.aspx

i put links up to make it easier for people, but i dont know what the specifications mean

A:ATI graphics cards

The HD 5650 is the better card and will provide for a better balance between framerate and image quality.

I don't know if this thread's already been done, but if it has, you'll have to forgive me.
I've spent the past week looking around for a British supplier for HT Omega sound cards and can't find a single one. If I was in America or Canada, it wouldn't be a problem, but over here in England, it seems improbable. Does anyone else know of a British HT Omega supplier?

So I recently had my main computer crash and break to the point I need a new computer so I figured I'd make it worth it this time.

Here's the deal: (add the www to see it)tigerdirect.com/applications/searchtools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=6327547&SRCCODE=GOOGLEBASE&cm_mmc_o=VRqCjC7BBTkwCjCECjCE

Everything on there seems decent but I am curious about the board itself. Would the Intel Desktop Board DP55WB Motherboard be good for gaming, which I wish to use my computer mainly for. I have at most a 700 dollar budget and this seems like a nice deal for it. I plan on putting a Geforce GTX 580 graphics card in it as soon as I get the money as a little side note if it matters.

I'd suggest looking at the same chipset, but in either Gigabyte or Asus brands. Intel boards are fine, as much as it goes, but the BIOS is very limited as to configuration for different memory, and overclocking options. Intel really markets it's boards as mainstream items, intended for average users and businesses, they're not really aimed at the enthusiast.

The feature set can vary widely from board to board, and you should have a look at these pages to see which board has the capabilities you need;

Hi setups? cards for multi-monitor Graphics I ve just blown up my nvidia geforce gx and am looking for a replacement but do not use the pc for gaming anymore so hoping to use this opportunity to convert my PC into a programming development workstation I d like to purchase a graphics card that can support three quot monitors but I have had a lot of trouble finding any advice on buying for multi monitor setups Budget is pretty much unlimited going to go ahead with this one way or the other but have a serious aversion to wasting money so want to get value for money I haven t purchased the monitors yet possibly a question for a different forum but will more than welcome suggestions if offered or if its relevant to the question at hand Specs Motherboard - Asus P E Graphics cards for multi-monitor setups? deluxe Graphic Graphics cards for multi-monitor setups? interface - x PCI-e Memory - GB DDR mhz CPU - intel Q quad core Power Supply - Corsair W HX country UK Can anyone offer any advice on what I need to look for or avoid any product brand recommendations All feedback much appreciated The Duck nbsp

A:Graphics cards for multi-monitor setups?

I'm pretty sure any AMD 5xxx series GPU would be fine, as they all have eyefinity. Not sure about Nvidia though.

That said, why don't you purchase two GPU's and run them in crossfire or SLI instead? If your definitely not going to be gaming you could get away with a much lighter duty GPUs, with one supporting 2 monitors, and the other supporting one.

Do you still need workstation graphics performance for applications like CAD etc though, or is it just for normal use e.g. desktop publishing, web browsing, emails etc.

Pretty much any GPU for sale today will support 2 monitors. My current ATI HD4670 is absolutely fine with two 22" Viewsonics, it just can't support three.

You'd need to decide if you want a game orientated GPU, or a workstation GPU really, then go from there.

A:Will these cards work with this motherboard in 3 way CrossFire?

any card(s) with two crossfire connectors will work in a 3-way configuration, regardless of motherboard support or not. manufacturers don't typically include every single possible config in their hardware compatibility lists, so as long as you use the correct bus type and drivers it will work fine.

I've heard overclocking is not a great idea because it can burn up your vid card.
Is this true?

I don't overclock and my vid card seems to get hot all too often.

A:Burning up vid cards by overclocking?

Usually will only happen if you overvolt for extended periods.

Simple question really;

I'm about to purchase a BTX-chassi and a BTX-motherboard. The motherboard has a regular PCIe x16-slot.

I do also have a graphics card with the PCIe x16 interface, from my old ATX-chassi.

Can I simply pop the card in the PCIe-slot, or does the BTX-structure require something else like an inverted card specifically made for the BTX?

A:Does PCIe x16-cards fit in BTX-chassis as well?

i'm pretty sure it works all the same, with the slot being the same distance from the chassis itself as with an ATX.

Hello TechSpot Community I am stuck with a slow GT and am going to Single high-end cards slot go for a huge computer upgrade after saving up some more My i is going to be replaced with an i k and the stock Single slot high-end cards cooler may be replaced by watercooling if I have a spare few hundred bucks Now I am a fan of single slot cooling When I saw the EVGA HydroCopper GTX and I was just like wow how nice would one of those be But I will never buy an Nvidia card at the moment as they use power overheat and are expensive especially the water cooled ones However the new HD series which I am hoping will smoke the GTX not literally - I am not buying a PCI-E Barbeque are a more likely candidate for my new computer The problem is that the current flagship from ATi soon to be AMD the HD has the two DL-DVI s stacked on top of each other so even if watercooled it will still take up two slots The Radeon HD Eyefinity does not have this problem but I can t find any sources of single-slot faceplates Are there any available or do I have to get it cut in half myself Before anyone asks I am not thinking of getting the more expensive Eyefinity Edition just for the sake of single slotness I also want the extra monitor outputs for various projects but it is not completely necessary Should I buy the current Eyefinity HD or wait to see if the standard HD has the same problem or buy the HD Eyefinity card Of course I could go for a dual GPU but I have survived with a GT for long enough and will noot need that power I try not to let my computer take over my life but cannot live with it being this slow If I buy a beast now I shouldn t have to worry for at least three years nbsp

No, this will not work, unless you have a Lucid Hydra motherboard, which you don't.

If you want you can use the gtx 275 for PhysX, which will help out in some games

Hi everyone,

I've recently converted an old laptop into a home server, and I'm currently planning to extend its capacity with an external hard disk. Problem is, however, that the laptop does not have usb 2.0 nor gigabit lan. It does have two pc card slots, though, so I figured the problem was solved. However, these cards are so big that if I insert one, I doubt I'll have space for another (due to the usb/network extension) since the two card slots are right above eachother. Does anyone have any idea if there's a solution to this problem?

A:Fitting 2 PC cards in laptop

How about the lan card and a cheap external usb hub? unless you really really need usb 2 ofc, or have no usb slots at all.

how do u know if u have on board sound card on ibm

A:How do you now if you have on board sound card

The easiest recognition sign would be 3.5mm jack plugs on the rear panel of the motherboard.

3 (Green, blue, pink) is common on older boards, 4, 5 or more commonly 6 jacks for newer (and 5.1 +) sound codecs.
If you post some details of the system/board the forum will be able to give you a more definitive answer.

If it helps...
I'll be running 2 desktops PCs, a laptop, my Droid Incredible, PS3, and Nintendo Wii...need a solid fast signal.

...and for post #4...I might add this...for internal bluetooth and usb

and get one pci for the old desktop and one usb for inside the new build.
Or maybe 2 usb...need input!!!

A:What graphics cards can the Philips MT2400 handle

I will be competely honest, that machine is at least 2 generations behind the current gen stuff. That CPU is going to be very limited in any sort of modern game. It was a screamer when it was new but you are going to have issues playing most new(er) games no matter what video card you throw in.

So that being said, you have a PCI express slot so you can get a decent video card. The 9800 is still a pretty decent card. I would not waste getting any better of a card because the bottleneck is already going to be your CPU.

Also with a new video card comes the question, can you power it? You are going to have to see the wattage and amperage specs on the side of the power supply. But more then likely you will need more then the stock PSU to power any decent video card.
The main question is what games do you want to play? If you are into older stuff, CSS, Battlefield 2 they should play fine. If you want to play Bad Company 2, or Starcraft 2 etc, you should maybe think about saving some money and getting a newer set up.
