Corrupted Outlook - Looking to transfer Email; Account Password

Q: Corrupted Outlook - Looking to transfer Email; Account Password

WinXP Home SP3 with Office XP
Outlook is hanging with a number of messages. (Various).
ie Cannot complete the operation...
The issue appears to be that Outlook has exceeded it's 2GB limit so I'm trying to recover (trying various things) and create a new mail profile.
I'm using the Inbox repair tool and MS's 2gb truncation tool.

Anyone know how to save the (existing) email profile (Email account settings and passwords) so I can transfer it to a new profile. Later versions appear to have a Mail - export function but not these earilier programs.
I'm unable to get hold of the User and or their ISP until tomorrow, but I'd like to get it resolved today.

Preferred Solution: Corrupted Outlook - Looking to transfer Email; Account Password

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Password types :

Power On Password (pop). this password can be reset by unplugging the cmos battery for a while, and plugging it back in.

Supervisor/bios Password (svp). this requires reading the eeprom chip (8 leg or 14 leg) with an electronic device by using another pc's serial port or by paperclip method if model type available.

Hard Drive Password (hdp). this is usually tied to svp, but not all the time. it requires special software and a library of known manufacturer's password. but can be cracked either recovering the data or wiping the data.

My laptop keeps asking me for my facetime, icloud and messages password. I've entered the password but it keeps popping up. Even if I enter the wrong password it accepts it and asks me again in about 30 seconds. I have a Macbook Air but I don't know what system it is though. What can I do to stop this?

I have a toshiba satellite C870-11H. It used to ask for the password whenever it went to sleep. I checked and the system is still set to do so.

Some time ago I got fed up with the clowns at Microsoft thinking their latest update was more important than whatever I happened to be doing and destroying the work I was doing so they could load their rubbish. I set the system to ask me before doing an update. Well it doesn't bother to do that and now very rarely it does load an update without authority. Could it be that my system is now way out of date?

Is there a customer focused operating system that I could use instead?

Thanks.

A:Laptop stopped asking for password

Every OS is customer focused. Microsoft is for non-Mac machines and getting things done. Linux is more powerful but requires more techy-ness to use.

Maybe try Mac OSX.

But there's nothing wrong with Windows. Sounds like you have a decent amount of problems.
Run WIndows update, make sure it's completed every update.
Run CMD.exe in admin mode, run sfc /scannow

Hello all,

I use an ADSL modem for accessing Internet in my home. I think my wifi password is stolen. I wanna change it but I have a computer only in my office and use the Internet in my home by my iPhone. Is there a way to change that password with my iPhone or should I surely use a computer to do that work, please?

A:How to change the Wifi password of an ADSL modem without a computer

Hello abbasi ,
You can use your iPhone to log in the router and change the wireless settings, however this isn't usually recommended. If something goes wrong when configuring the wireless settings and you are not able to connect to the router you'll need a device that can be connected via Ethernet cable to restore the access.
If this router is supplied by your ISP you can ask them if they have remote access to it to change the password.
Hope that helps.

Hi guys, I'm not good in english but I hope u will understand all.

Few weeks ago, my computer monitor suddenly get 1024x768 (or something like that) resolution, and I can't set better, because this is my max resolution. Before this situation I had 1920x1080 resolution. I know I can now only set resolution of my video card. I searched for reasons, and this must be corrupted EDID, but I can't find someone with this damn monitor. I also tryed install many different versions of video driver and use few different cables, but problem is still alive.

If u have this monitor, I wan't to get copy of your EDID, or if you have other idea, I can do whatever u write

Monitor: LG M2280DF-PZ

I have no clue what the password is and I need help to see if it can be reset. I have looked on the internet everywhere and have had no luck. If I pull the battery will that reset it......help me please. Thanx

A:Forgot Password On Asrock Motherboard

Removing the motherboard battery and waiting a couple minutes before replacing it should reset it to where you can gain access again. It should help you. If not then reset your jumper to clear the CMOS. You can get the jumper resetting instruction in the motherboard manual.

I built a computer a few months ago. At the time I couldn't afford to buy an SSD so I just bought a 1TB HDD. However I just bought a new 128GB SSD and I would like to move Windows 7 OS to the SSD but keep all the games I've already installed on my HDD. I don't want to waste 128GB on games when I could save it for stuff that I want to run faster. My problem is that I don't know how to move my Windows 7 OS to the SSD and keep the games on my HDD and be able to play them. Could I just install windows 7 on the SSD and then navigate to the D: drive and play my games. Also could I delete the OS on the HDD and keep just the games and applications I want on the HDD?
Thanks in advance!

A:Transfer OS to new SSD and keep Games on HDD

So the current 1TB hdd is in the system & you now have a 128 ssd in as well? if I am correct, then you are wanting windows on the ssd & the hdd as the "data" storage, correct??

first to clone the existing win7 to the ssd you will need a 3rd party cloning app, try one of these: http://clonezilla.org/ http://www.terabyteunlimited.com/image-for-windows.htm both do a good job, terabye unlimited is a much easier interface to navigate than clonezilla.

once the hdd is cloned to the ssd, then disconnect power to the hdd & boot with ssd alone. when it boot up into windows successfully a few times, then adjust bios settings so that ssd is the main boot drive and the hdd is NOT the main boot drive. now boot the system with the hdd power plugged in and boot into windows, it will detect the hdd, reboot, then back up again. now browse to the hdd and move & delete files accordingly. Games on steam & origin can be pointed to the hdd - check each vendor's support site for instructions on doing so.

Post back, Hope this helps!!

I do not have an internet connection on the other PC so sharing files wouldn't work....So I need to know how to transfer files using LAN cable.....there are a lot of videos on youtube on how to transfer files form windows 7 to windows 7 but I have windows xp (on both PC) Or maybe transfer it in another way that excludes having internet connection on both PC-s..

A:How to transfer files from XP to XP

You could do it with a 'crossover' cable. It is like an ethernet cable, but the wires on either end aren't identical.

But.. if you don't have one of those, buying one would be just as expensive as buying a USB flash drive of 4-32 gigs in size depending on where you would buy the crossover cable.

So, IMO, using a flash drive of suitable size (larger than the largest single file you will transfer) and using multiple 'trips' as necessary is the easiest way.

I have a Western Digital drive and it keeps freezing the transfer process around 15 seconds remaining. I am trying to transfer my movie files to it. The files are around 750 megs to 2.5 gigs each. I am trying to do them one at a time. I have got it to transfer about 3 movies to the device. When the transfer locks I have to turn off the computer and turn it back on to get it to stop. Its I think a 110 gig external.

A:Western Digital Drive Freezes Transfer Process

Some details you have left out.
Age of PC
Desktop or Laptop
How much RAM?
Single, Dual or Quad or high CPU.
Size of HDD
What source are you using to transfer file to the HDD?
Are you using a network LAN?
Speed of the LAN 10, 100, 10000?

When you do this type of work make sure the PC doesn't go to sleep and keep an eye on it.
Make sure the HDD doesn't have any bad blocks do a check disk (CHKDSK C: /F
Make sure the HDD is de-fragmented
Make sure the HDD has done quick or full optimized (use ULTRA DEFRAG FREE)
Make sure the system is cleaned using JetClean Free

The condition of the HDD is very important also the source your transferring from too it.

I have a Windows 7 computer wired into my home network. It has a printer attached to it that I have set to share. I have a windows 7 laptop and an XP laptop. Both 7 machines can see open the shared drives on the XP machine but when I try to access the shared drives of either 7 machine from any of the other machines I am asked to give a User ID and a password. This is a private Home network. I have no passwords set up on any of the machines. I'm trying to set up the printer on the two laptops and I can't access it without the User ID Password window popping up. Does anyone know what the problem is?

This is all normal operation for print/file sharing. If you really want sharing without using passwords (imo a security risk), then you need to google for "anonymous sharing"

Hi Friends ... I have this laptop that has been given to me by my company and the USB ports have been blocked in manner such that I can copy stuff from my USB drive on to the machine but cannot copy in the reverse direction, ie. from the hard drive to the USB. Obviously it is to safeguard against theft of data. However, I do not deal with any confidential data and like to back up things every few days. A:My Mac corrupted

If Ubuntu can see them then there is hope

Once you have the Ubuntu desktop and the Mac disk mounted, you need another place to copy the files, so figure that out and mount that device too.

Get a Terminal window - - (yes, we'll fix the perms with a command line operation)

In the Terminal window, issue ls -lF (that's lower case 'ell', UC F) and you will see details of the current directory, eg:

Code:
$ ls -l
total 0
drwxr-xr-x+ 1 Jeff Users 0 May 22 07:44 _test2/
-rw-r--r-- 1 Jeff Users 0 May 22 07:43 bar
-rw-r--r-- 1 Jeff Users 0 May 22 07:43 foo
-rw-r--r-- 1 Jeff Users 0 May 22 07:43 zed

the 3rd column is the OWNER and the 4th is the GROUP.
the 1st column is the permissions for the owner, group and everyone.

To traverse the sub directories (shown like line1 with the trailing / ), the perms must
have the x for all three eg drwxr-xr-x

Ubuntu mounts devices - -
There are broadly two approaches -

Per-user mounting (usually under /media)
Systemwide mounting (anywhere, often under /mnt)
You will need to have root perms, so rlogin root or use su root and give the password.

So use the cd command to put the current directory on the Mac device root and use
ls -lF to see the user, group being used. As long as every directory shows up like drwxr-xr-x
then you need only to change either the owner or the group.

the command you need to change the owner is:
Usage: chown [OPTION]... [OWNER][:[GROUP]] FILE...
and the OPTIONs you need are -hR and the owner would be your Ubuntu login, eg
chown -hR Jeff .
there's a trailing space and period after Jeff (that's my Linux login - - use yours).

when the command completes, use ls -lF to verify it's correct and then terminate your rlogin or su shell.

With the owner set, you can now use the Linux copy command (cp) or go back to the GUI desktop to manage the Mac file extractions.

Hi,
I used my computer to transfer back up files from an old hard drive to a brand new one. I did not open the individual files, just cut/pasted them onto the new drive. Well the new drive dies on me and I no longer have the old drive.
I was wondering if my computer copied the files onto itself during the transfer process and if it did, is there any way I can recover them?
Any assistance you can provide will be appreciated.

A:File transfer/copy

Ouch; Especially for large transfers, file movement from media{a} -> media{b} use no intermediate cache or temp files. IMO, unless CHKDSK c: /F /R can fix the new drive, I think you're in deep dodo.

I don't know for sure that it does, but if it uses any remotely decent form of encryption then you're going to need to remember that password... it's kind of the point of encrypting it in the first place. If anyone knows differently please chime in.

Also any motherboard recommendations (under 200). As I'm planning on upgrading my computer to a gaming rig.

However, when I boot up the PC, I am not asked for any password and windows loads as usual.

What am I missing?

Does the laptop come w/ a program to customize keyboard settings? Maybe that a look at that. My Logitech keyboard came w/ a program called Setpoint which allows me to choose what email program to open when the button is pressed. My math tells me that 1,000 / 8 != 10...

What is bottle-necking my speed? How can I fix that?

I am using Ethernet cables to do it all....

It is not the external Hard drive, it has a built in CPU to help with the speeds and remote cloud access...

I noticed this problem in the past but haven't a clue...

Hi Guys Mike here,My old computer crashed during a lightening storm(mobo was bad)and bought a new HP pavillion slimline.Whats the best way to get "my documents "my pictures" from my old hD.This very important to me as i have a lot of pics of my daughter on that old hd and she passed away 8/26/2010 at the age of 39.Thanks Regards Mike

A:Best way to transfer my documents/pictures from corrupt hard drive

Hi Mike
Assuming your hard drive is still in working order and uncorrupted by the lightning strike I don`t think it should be too difficult.
I had a similar problem and got round it by buying a :- USB 2.0 to SATA IDE Hard Drive Adapter Converter Cable, of Ebay in the UK for approx 7.USB-SATA-IDE-Hard-Drive-Adapter-Converter (brilliant piece of kit and worth every penny)
Just remove the HD from the old computer and power it up on your desk using the purchased device and connect to your new computer USB port.
Open Windows Explorer on your new computer to view the contents of your old HD and "Drag and Drop" or "Copy & Paste" the files required to your new computer.
If your old HD is corrupt as mine was you may require some suitable software. I used "EaseUS Data Recovery Wizard" (not the free edition) although the free edition may be worth trying before going to any great expense.
Hopefully your HD is uncorrupted.
Hope you fully understood my explanation and good luck.
Regards
Danny

So basically like the title says, I can't charge the laptop, I know the charger works though because I tried it another laptop that's the exact same as mine and it works on the other laptop but not mine, is there any inexpensive way I can fix it?

If not then can someone guide me through how to transfer the data over to another laptop?

Thanks!

A:Can't charge laptop, how do I fix or how do I transfer data over to a new laptop?

To transfer data, remove the disk and connect it to the other laptop using an adapter such as this or put it in an enclosure.

Once connected, the laptop will see the HDD as a removable storage and you can click and drag files from one to the other.

It sounds like a hardware problem to me. Try removing the battery and running the laptop directly off of the charger.

Hi!

First of all, I dont know if this is the right spot to ask about hosting, but since Techspot has helped me with a lot of computer related problems, I thought Id give it a try...

Anyways, Im about to buy a hosting plan from Hostgator, but I want to use one account to host at least 3 different sites (top domains, like firstpage.com, secondpage.com and thirdpage.com). I know the reselling account would be the most effective, but I dont need to have a different cPanel for each user.

Can this be done with a Baby plan? Im going to buy domain names from another company, but I guess that doesnt matter. Im new to all this hosting stuff, so any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

A:How to set password for my IO Data Landisk?

you're into a bag of worms - - is this a personal LAN attached NAS or a commerical problem?

for background on the subject, see this PDF

The process to secure access to a NAS storage device is:

take ownership of the root folder and replace all children's permissions
create a group name which implies NAS-access
grant desired privileges to that group name
now go back and add your desired user-logins to the new group name
To revoke access, delete joe-user from that group list

When I copy music files from my PC to a USB external hard drive, some of the files get corrupted and can't be opened. First times this happened I thought it was a faulty hard drive so got another one - exactly same problem. Then I found that the same thing happened when I tried copying music or photo files to a USB flash drive and also to a music player. All the drives work fine when connected to a netbook. Could it be a problem with the USB ports? I've tried using different ports on the PC but always get the same problem. A:How to transfer files when USB doesn't work?

Try LAN

One thing you could try is transferring your files via an ethernet cable, provided your old and new laptop both have a RJ-45 jacket. If you own a router, this is an easy task (share folder, drag n' drop).
Same thing if either of them have a wireless network card and you have a wireless network router.

If you do not have a router, you'll need to use a crossover cable (ethernet Cat 5, RJ-45, crossing Tx and Rx) to connect both computers.
Or, one last option is to use and ad-hoc wireless connection between your two laptops.

A:Creating a D-Link password

forget the CD - - doesn't do squat for this issue.

1) access the router using your browsera) use only a wired connection'
the default address for Dlink is: [B]http://192.168.0.1[/B]
the default user/pwd is: admin/ <leave it blank>
2)once inside, set a new Admin Password and save it. This will restart the router and disconnect you from it - - just log back in
3) now go set the WiFi SSID and encryption as required

I just installed a LaCie USB 3.0 PCI Express Card in my Vista 64-bit computer and plugged in a Seagate FreeAgent GoFlex Desk 2TB USB 3.0 external drive. The card literature says the transfer rate for USB 2.0 ranges up to 480Mb/s, and for USB 3.0 up to 5 Gb/s. If "Gb" means gigabits, the 5 Gb/s = 640 MB/s (five gigabits equals 640 megabytes). According to HD Tune, I am getting 106-113 MB/s on the Seagate. Is this a reasonable transfer rate for USB 3.0? I know that in the real world I'll never get 640 MB/s, but 106-113 seems a bit low. In any event, it tests faster than my SATA HD, which came in at 66-109 MB/s.

A:Help me understand transfer rate for external USB 3.0 drive

Looks fine to me. Your conversions are correct. The reason you aren't getting even close to the theoretical max speed is because the actual drive itself isn't capable of getting data out that fast. A good internal mechanical (spinning) HD at this time isn't going to be much if any faster than 120MB/sec. External drives are just internal drives put in an enclosure to allow it to be hooked up by USB, eSATA, or firewire (or any combination).

[RESOLVED]How to transfer files to new hard drive?

Not for the weak of heart, but for the least stress and the most complete move for someone new to the transfers, I recommend the full version of Acronis... Some hard drives have their own free or low cost version of Acronis...

Hello there I ve looked about everywhere I could to solve this issue to no avail up to now so I really hope someone here might have some answer Here s the pitch I m under Vista Home Premium not by choice though believe me ALL of my USB plugs are yet for some reason one of my external HDDs or its USB enclosure to be more specific as it is the faulty part -- my other work fine will always connect in USB transfer rate toping at an average of a pathetic - Kib s and dumb warning from Vista that using another USB plug would increase performances The interesting part is that in some particular situations yet very hard for me to replicate since it will only work one time out of a random number of tries like for instance unplugging the drive while it s working and that s not something rate another slow HDD transfer under external Vista Yet I like to do switching it off and on again and then plugging it back all this in Yet another external HDD slow transfer rate under Vista a couple of seconds the drive would then connect in USB and I d have the correct transfer rate around Mib s or so I guess Which means it is not a configuration problem with IRQs or with the way my preferences are set in Vista I suppose it proves the HDD CAN actually transfer with acceptable USB rate and Vista can also make it happen and support it with this particular HDD The problem obviously lies with the connection process which is flawed at first Yet another external HDD slow transfer rate under Vista and I can t figure out why for the life of me Not quite sure what technical info about my machine is relevant with this kind of problem so I won t provide any yet but just ask if you believe more details could help narrow it down While not an expert per se I am no average user I tried hard to figure out a way by myself before resorting to ask for help so I m hoping somebody here will maybe have some insightful advices and tricks for me to try and fix this But please no obvious beginner solutions as I ve already tried everything from that level and more eg changing cables switching to other plugs changing the removal strategy to quot Optimize for better performances quot etc as I ve seen advised on many forums before Thanks a bunch in advance to anybody taking the time to read this and reply -- Angar Note obvious enough the ultimate solution for me will be to buy a new USB enclosure one that will prove fully compatible with stupid Vista like my other two are and I intend to do just that ASAP but until I do a workaround would prove really helpful nbsp

I had a laptop a while back but got rid of it. now I have another one but can't get on line because I can't remember my password for my router. I went to linksys but you had to have a password and user name, which I can't remember so that was No help. Got any idea's?

A:Can't remember password on router

If you read the manual, it will explain how to reset your router, and return it to default settings (including the default password). On Linksys it usually involves pressing the reset button, and rebooting the router while holding said button in. But check your manual first. If you don't have your manual, Linksys online will have it for you to read.

You'll unfortunately need to set it all up again, so make sure the first thing you do is change your SSID (wireless broadcast name), and setup security on your wireless.

I'm trying to print out some pictures on my HP printer using some pictures on a USB. I find some pictures but others are not shown on the display. When I click on the print-button on a "corrupted photo" it displays "Photo is corrupted and can not be printed" and the print-papper is given back empty.

Only some pictures are shown. I've tried changing the size of the pictures without any luck. I've checked on the HP website and on the manual without an answer.

What should I do? Really need replies soon. Thanks..

A:HP Photosmart A526 "Photo is corrupted and can not be printed"

Sounds as if you had photos on a Flash drive, and the flash drive is damaged or corrupted.... If so, you might not be able to fix the problem.
Check on the HP website to see if they still have a trouble shooter for damaged images. Or take a look at programs such as Adobe Elements. Picasa, diskdoctors.com, www.photo-recovery-software.com, photosrecovery.com, photoengineering.com, www.imphotorepair.com, GIMP (my favorite) FreshCrop.com, Freeserifsoftware.com, www.stellarinfo.com, and picrecovery.com... We have used all of these at one time or another and all are good for certain things. GIMP requires some study but is good after you learn.

I am building a new system and began to wonder about the limitations that HD's would put on SATA. Basically, I have been thinking about getting a solid state storage device (for boot drive) and wonder if there is any point to going with sata III.

OK, so here is the question: If the read rate is 300 MB/s and write 275 MB/s then would there be any difference between 3.0 GB/s and 6.0 GB/s transfer speeds?

It just seems to me that when reading with both transfer speeds the rate would be 300 MB/s and when writing the buffer would full up in a few microseconds while the drive is writing 275 MB/s.

Any help from someone with more technical knowledge is appreciated.

Thanks,
Lao Tan

I have an hp mini 1000 netbook with the admin passwords in the bios and win xp. It was my cousins who is no longer with us, so my aunt gave it to me. Noone knows the passwords. How can I bypass them or override them? I can get in as a guest but it is too limited. What are my best options?

A:HP Mini admin password unknown

You need to talk to HP, after changing the registered ownership, and may need a document about the fate of the previous owner. You may have to send it to a certified HP service center with a formal notice of change of ownership included.
As for TechSpot, there is a policy to not provide assistance with passwords.
What you want to do is usually very difficult in the best of circumstances.

Hi everyone. There are several threads that are available for help with reseting a Dell D620's bios password here. And I understand they have all be closed b/c all the information has already been discussed. But within those threads all the links to the dstcd.iso are dead now. Would anyone have or could point me to a working download for that file? Google came back with shady links that I rather not use so any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

A:Dstcd.iso Link is dead, need help with Dell BIOS password rest

There really isn't a valid solution. The D620 is unusually difficult to impossible for password repair, and the idea was chewed for a year. Solutions that supposedly work are perhaps illegal and certainly dangerous. They turned out to be a good source for malware and infestations without being helpful. All the solutions are as expensive as replacing the system board or the computer.

Hey I was wondering how and what I would need to transfer old video tapes into my computer. The tapes are from this older camera that records MP120 8 tapes, I still have a working camera that can play them through simple audio/video connection on my TV. But the tapes are deteriorating losing sounds/color and some even all the video completely, so I want to back them up on my computer and put them on DVD. I imagine what I need is some adapter and software I just have no idea of what or where I can find it, so any info would be greatly appreciated thank you.

A:What do I need to transfer old video

Does your camera that can play them to a TV also have a Firewire output? If so, you can use Firewire to transfer them to the computer (might have to buy a firewire card (and possibly cable) if your computer doesn't have one) and record to the hard drive with Windows Movie Maker.

If it doesn't have firewire out, you need a video in on your computer "Media Center" computers have those, otherwise you'll need a tuner card that has RCA in. I've never done it through a TV tuner card. I imagine its slightly more difficult because you have to run the audio to your sound card as well, and I don't know if WMM handles video from a tuner card (probably, but like I said I've never tried).

Right ok, I have a probably simple request, but its baffling me. I need to have my iPod and PC download emails. But I need it so that, if i delete an email of my iPod, it isn't there on my PC, and vice versa. But I need it too so that if I download the emails to my iPod, I can still access them on my PC.

I'm using a firefox extension called SimpleMail, that has options for POP3 and IMAP, and is useful and quick compared to thunderbird for me.

I've tried it, but just can't figure it out! A detailed step-by-step guide, would be HUGELY appreciated. Probably put this in the wrong section too, but its the best I could think off.

A:Email setup help needed, for iPod and PC!

Basicaly any email account with IMAP would be able to do that: Gmail, MobileMe & even Yahoo! offer such services.

Emails are available on all the machines using the IMAP account & even your replies are copied over to all the machines so you can still access them from another machine than the one where you wrote them from.

I have a dell laptop which broke. Dell can't repair, but the hard drives are fine. They are setup in a RAID 0 configuration and both are 125Gb,

I have them out and know which one is #1 and #2. How can I get the data off of them? Please be technical, I'm pretty computer savvy.

A:How to transfer data from two RAID0 Sata drives?

difficult issue, as it's most likely that you used the software raid controller on the M/B,
which may not be "so portable".

you might inquire of a Data Recovery service if they have that capability.

did you have a backup? the restore should not be dependent upon RAID at all and thus
could be restored to any external USB hd without risking the system to which it would be attached.

Hi guys,

I wanted to move some files to my laptop to save PC disk space (i have 80GB)
I connected my PC with laptop over LAN. There was no problems connecting it, but when i go to "Run" and type \\192.168.0.2\FolderShare, small window pops up with User and Password fields. I don't know what password should i enter. I've done this before, and i've never been asked for password. Anyone knows this?

A:LAN Password required

Use a userid/password that's already defined on the 192.168.0.2 machine and has access rights to the folder/files you want

/* edit */
Oh.. you also might be forced to create a non-blank password for the userid if it's currently blank. There's actually a method to turn off the non-blank password requirement but for your own network security, its best to use non blank passwords

I recently purchase a new AMD mobo cpu along with a new harddrive I had first put my new harddrive Corrupted? AMD: Intel to Harddrives in and formatted it and put win on it I was planning on reformatting Intel to AMD: Harddrives Corrupted? it anyways after installing the mobo cpu and it doesn t hurt to try out windows for a few hours Well when I got around to installing the new stuff into one machine I had some problems First it would not boot my windows XP install from Intel to AMD: Harddrives Corrupted? my old drive properly It would get about halfway through startup and get a giant BSOD Obviously I decided to see if the same would occur with a fresh install so I booted from my new drive and the same problem occurred I decided to then boot from a CD and loaded ubuntu which worked perfectly fine Either my harddrives are corrupt or my new bit processor doesn t like bit installations I ended up formatting my new drive again with bit win and it works fine but I would really like to boot my old operating system along with configurations from my old drive and I really do not want to format it Any reason why this happened Should I just copy the stuff from my old drive to my new format then copy back nbsp

A:Intel to AMD: Harddrives Corrupted?

What i could understand from your post is, you tried to boot from your old XP installation (which was obviously done on your older cpu/motherboard etc.). That may work but I don't like it frankly, changing a motherboard is very radical step.

However you can try these steps and see if they help:

1. Get your Windows XP Installation CD and boot from it.
2. It will start running Windows XP Setup
3. Get to screen where it dislays Setting up Windows XP, Repair Windows XP Installation. Choose Repair Option here.
4. It will then show you the hdd partition where your XP installation shoiuld be, select it, and press R.

You may get asked for Windows XP CD Key though.

Good evening. I was hoping that someone would be able to help me access the security code that I had encrypted my router with. I lost the code and have tried calling d-link to no avail. I tried entering th ip address for the router and it is asking for passwords (that I forgot).

A:D-link DI-524 router forgot password

How ironic, I've presently got the same issue

What I'm going to do, is use a pin (or pen) and push and hold the little reset button in (I think its 5 secs on mine)
The reset button will be located on the router somewhere (look closely, mines at the back)
Anyway, you will obviously need your Username and password for the Internet to be put back in the settings area, again (in the router)

And as the spammers (as I call them) that posted in the many threads never wanted to help me with an updated generator, then there is nothing more to say (Note: I asked and asked and asked)

So, NO we cannot help any further, and obviously this Topic will be closed just like the rest

Hey, my Dad recently purchased a Western Digital Caviar 640gb hard drive in order to boost the storage on his computer (which he needs due to all of the games that I've installed on it over the years ). The motherboard that he is using is an Abit AV8 3rd Eye Motherboard, which supposedly has a maximum transfer rate over SATA of 1.5 gb/s. However, I think that the default transfer rate for the hard drive is 3.0 gb/s, so the computer has not been able to detect the drive.
Is there any way that I could change the transfer rate of the drive to 1.5 gb/s? Maybe I could hook it up to my other computer (which is 3.0 gb/s compatible) and install some drivers that would allow me to control the transfer rate?
Thanks!

A:HP / Dell / etc. laptop password help thread

Dell bios adress

I havea dell x200 and it is locked with an admin password. I have down loaded the bios but I have no idea of the adress in which the password is kept. Does anyone know it. Aso I have been informed that the cmos chip is a u525.And I can not find it. Where would this chip be located?
Last and not least , can this cmos chip be inline programable just like an ibm.(I don't remove the cmos in a ibm to reprogram it to remove crc errors) Any help would be great

Thank you

could someone plz tell me how 2 set a password so only i can download stuff on my pc step by step

A:How do I password protect downloads?

little fuzzy on your description.

Download usually refers to copying data from a webserver. If you have multiple systems with Print/File sharing active, then we use the those facilties to control
access to files on your PC. Is this way you are asking; how to control Print/File sharing access?
