Hi there I am attempting to export a table from Access to a txt file which will then be merged into Adobe InDesign CS I am following the instructions from InDesign to accomplish this merge which requires that the file be in a txt or csv format I am trying to keep my list from the table in Access in alphabetical order which is how the design of the table is saved When I export the table to txt format it when from .txt Solved: of 2000 Problem: database design changes exported fo Access to un-alphabetizes the list When I select quot Save Formatted quot during the export process I end up with a txt file in a code that InDesign will not accept in the merge I have tried exporting the table to Excel and then to a txt file but InDesign will not let me merge the files that are created that way Any ideas about what I can do short of exporting the table anyway and then seeing how well I can manually cut paste and alphabetize the fields Thanks Stacie nbsp

I m trying to get the results of Access queries to be linked to an Excel workbook I ve been using the Data tab in Excel clicking the quot From Access quot button in the upper left / - 2007 to database Access Solved: a 2007 Excel Linking and choosing Solved: Access 2007 / Excel 2007 - Linking to a database the Access database Then it asks what query I want to link The problem arises when I try to link a specific query which we ll call qry x This query is based on Solved: Access 2007 / Excel 2007 - Linking to a database several other queries one of which is qry z Frustratingly when I try to link qry x to the Excel workbook I get an error Solved: Access 2007 / Excel 2007 - Linking to a database message that says that Access can t find qry z and suggests maybe I spelled the name incorrectly However qry z definitely exists as part of the database and when I run qry x which is based on qry z in Access the correct results are displayed with no error Note qry x is the only query this is happening to I can link any other query with no problem at all including qry z What could be going wrong Thanks in advance nbsp

Hi I need some help figuring out how to design an Access database The design I ve come up with is normalized and would work fine with a web app but it appears Questions 2007 Design Access Solved: not to be optimized for Access forms If people could make suggestions about how to design the Access database to meet my goals I d be grateful At a high level I have two Solved: Access 2007 Design Questions software environments that are checked daily to confirm their components and sub-components are in working order and if not to add details about failures Currently staff completes one Word file per environment a table they simply fill out and email However this does Solved: Access 2007 Design Questions not allow for reporting how components and sub-components function over time The goal would be to create a form in Access that lists all components and sub-components which are the same in both environments The user would select the environment their name the current software release number for the environment and then go down the list of components and sub-components using a simple dropdown list to indicate if the component or sub-component is Green Yellow or Red If Yellow or Red they d also fill out a simple text box or textarea At the bottom of the form they d click a button to save the form data and email the form data On the reporting side there would be two reports a daily report that could be looked up by date and environment and a rollup report that would let the user pick a date range and environment or component sub-component and see how many Green Yellow and Reds were reported during the date range selected The database design I have so far tblComponentCats lists all components tblComponentSubCats lists all sub-components with ID to parent component tblEnvironment lists the name for each software environment tblRelease lists all software release numbers tblStatus lists Green Yellow Red tblUsers lists names of staff who will do daily checkout tblComponentResults stores status result for each component and sub-component with data about release environment user status and date I also have a stored query that combines data from these tables to generate a complete set of data by combining data from a few tables My problem is that Access forms require me to start with a table Since my form needs to have a line for each component and its sub-components with the same status dropdown and text input textarea dedicated to that component or sub-component I can t figure out how to design my tables to make the most of how Access works For example if you think of the components and sub-components as products and the status as a product review how would you get Access to list each distinct quot product quot with a dropdown list to quot review quot each product What I get instead is a dropdown list for each component and sub-component which requires the user to select every single one there are total I believe I need each component and sub-component to be listed and nested as appropriate with the user selecting only the status dropdown list for each line of data and entering data in a text box textarea if needed Hopefully this is more than enough detail for someone to make suggestions about how to design a database structure that meets my goals and is optimised for Access Thanks in advance for any help nbsp

Hi Solved: Database 2007 MS Access I started using the Call Tracker template on MS Access for a new Call Logging System at work I am having trouble linking different fields to one another On the Call Lists page I have created Solved: MS Access 2007 Database new text box fields in design view However I can t get these fields to link with fields I created in the Call Details design view I have followed the same format the existing fields i e Title is in but I can t seem to get them to link properly I think it is done by using the Control Source but as I hae no experience on Access I m not sure if I am doing it right As well as this I need the text entered in these text fields to populate fields below it with information from another database that I have imported into the Call Tracker For example if I have three fields called Company Name Company ID and Customer ID and when text is entered into Company ID it looks up that ID in the other database and enters the required text Company Name Customer Name into the corresponding fields Any help would be appreciated Regards Archie nbsp

huzjay, welcome to the Forum.
You need a Customer table, which you have, a "Transaction table" which contains a field for the Customers ID key field plus the date and any data you want to log about the transaction, but not the sales items.
You then need a TransactionItems table to log the TransactionID and the sales items and the prices.
Do you have a Sales Items table with the item description and price?

I would not worry about the transfer of each amount over $20 to the next record, just put it all in until $120 or more is reached, then make the gift certificate, subtract the 120 from the running total and if you want add it to a "Certificates paid on" field.
These calculations can be done using VBA, the list of customers who have reached $120 can be generated by a query and displayed on a form.

I need to create an Access database that will keep track of when users take workbooks from storage, and when they were returned.

I was thinking about creating a barcode type system, so when the user takes a workbook they can be scanned for checkout, and then re-scanned to check back in (Almost like a library type system).

I also need a way to search for workbooks that have not been checked back in, and be able to print a report showing the still checked out workbooks.

If anyone can provide suggestions on the best way to design this db, I would really be appreciative.

Back Story I have quite a large project on my hands Our company computer users has an IT department people the director and myself that is in dire need of organization We re running multiple VMs SQL Server Exchange SharePoint several custom apps not to mention we have devices that range from Windows XP desktops to Windows laptops to iPads spread across remote offices warehouses apart from our corporate headquarters The director runs reports that he designs on a moment s notice from SQL to address specific users needs but he s the only one that can utilize them or their design and functionality If you re wondering how we ve gotten to where we are now I d like to know myself Anyway I ve decided to consolidate some more mainstream information users hardware software inventory vendor information company offices jobsites etc in a more accessible format The Goal Being relatively new to all this the company and databases in general I figured I could begin with a standalone database in Access We have a good bit of information I d like to obtain from existing sources and link compile it all into one spot Some examples IT Department (Access Database Design 2010) of what I d like to achieve are Users with active accounts in IT Department Database Design (Access 2010) AD Inventory linked to users locations etc Orders of new inventory where they were charged who they went to and update the inventory accordingly Forms for other users to add information and keep it all organized We have an existing table of inventory from before I got here with around records of inventory assigned to users It s basically an Excel spreadsheet however manual data entry apparently only about of the users on the spreadsheet are active match or even exist in AD Not knowing how to query a list of users from AD I just pulled a SharePoint list of users that access our intranet giving me a more reliable user table The Current Problem I need some advice on the table relationship design before I even start see the image below We have barcoded stickers on physical inventory with TagIDs which can be tied to users in tblUsers but I m stuck with tying in software All the tables in the image need to be relatable with tblOrders having the ability to update information in tblUserInventory at some point in time In general I m just wanting to learn more about databases and how they can make our lives easier Thanks in advance and please ask questions to help further clarify my intentions nbsp

I made my database with a user interface. I have been using my desktop PC at work.
When I tried to query it (I was successful in opening it) with my personal laptop, I got this message:

"Your network access was interrupted. To continue, close the database, and then open it again"

Of course the patch they suggest, doesn't work...

Hey all I m currently creating a database as a project and I have nearly finished it but I have run into some major problems that I just can t seem to figure out I have three tables in my database TBLPRODUCT TBLSELLER and Database 2007 Access problems :( Solved: TBLPRODUCTSELLER The primary keys from TBLPRODUCT and TBLSELLER have been stored as foreign keys in TBLPRODUCTSELLER with the relationship to it from the two other tables being one-to-many Anyway I ve created a form that allows the user to view products from TBLPRODUCT I did this by creating a query that fetches all of the fields from TBLPRODUCT and places them onto the form Additionally I created a combobox that allows users to filter the records by the category so for instance electronics furniture etc However as each product has seller information attached to it which Solved: Access 2007 Database problems :( is linked by the primary keys of the TBLPRODUCT and TBLSELLER tables which are called PRODUCTID and SELLERID respectively I need that information to be viewable in the form for each record also so for instance I need the Seller First Name Seller Surname and Seller Telephone information for each product to be viewable The problem is that when I edit the query in the form to allow fields from TBLSELLER to be placed onto the form the form no longer works and now displays no records at all I don t want to use a subform because I just want the fields to look like the Product fields that are already on the form plus I already tried making a subform and it didn t work I am relatively new to databases and I m not proficient with code so if this can be solved without any code that would be great Thanks nbsp

I hope that I m not posting this in the wrong forum I have an access database that I need to build and I can t figure out how to design the tables It s almost like my brain has normalized the data to the extreme and I can t get it together I ll make an example and maybe someone can help me figure this out Let s say that the data was about cars So you have a maker and a model name So you have a table with maker s names in it And you have a table with model names More than one of the maker s have made cars with the same name Then you have a color table design Solved: Help database with with all the colors that the cars were made in And more than one maker and model could be in the same color Then you have an interior table with data like velvet leather etc and any of the cars could have any of these interiors So let s say that there could be a dozen different tables with specific info like the interiors and the colors How do you put Solved: Help with database design a key in the tables to tie them together I sure hope I made that clear My brain is just not working with this I know what I need for the end result and I m very familiar with the data but trying to get the inbetween piece is driving me crazy Thanks tons Cheryl nbsp

Cheryl, try this:

Start listing, in an Excel spreadsheet, a few "records".
Then take a look at the columns you've made.

If, for instance, you will NEVER duplicate ALL three columns A, B, and C for one of your records, then make it the primary key.

If you will never dupe A, B, C, AND D, then make all 4 the primary key...

The whole idea is to never have an exactly duplicate record IN A TABLE.

I am using Access 2007. I created a report and added my fields now I want to change how they appear - move them around on the form. When I click on one and move it it brings the whole line with it. What am I doing wrong? Thanks

I am trying to design an application. I have a table of legal cases that I am compiling data on. Each case has 20+ data-points, and each data-point has one of ~200 data-values, and one of ~10 weight-values. I tried creating a table called CASE, with those 40+ fields, each pointing to sub-tables VALUES and WEIGHTS. I was hoping to create a lookup for each field, with the values being automatically loaded by Access. However, there can only be a single relationship btn tables, so this will not work........... any ideas on how to design this application? TIA

I m working on an Access database and any changes I make to a form or control Saving Access in Changes 2007 Design View Not will not save I click the save button and try keyboard shortcuts but when I close the form I get a prompt quot Do you want to save changes to Access 2007 Not Saving Changes in Design View lt whatever gt quot If I click quot Yes quot the changes still do not save and I when I close the form it starts the cycle over If I click quot No quot the form closes and the changes are not saved obviously There is no VBA in the project but I ve still tried a decompile as suggested for older versions of Access but no luck There are quite a few embedded macros but I m not sure how they could be causing this Does anyone have an idea about what s going on and how to resolve it This issue really has this project held up and no one else seems to have encountered the issue nbsp

I'm working on an Access 2007 database and any changes I make to a form or control will not save. I click the save button, and try keyboard shortcuts but when I close the form I get a prompt "Do you want to save changes to <whatever>":

If I click "Yes" the changes still do not save and I when I close the form it starts the cycle over.
If I click "No" the form closes and the changes are not saved (obviously).
Does anyone have any ideas about what's going on and how to resolve it?

If I open Access and double click on one of the forms I have created, and then click on Design view, the form is displayed. What I do not see is a grid of small dots behind the the form to assist in the design of the form. I know they can be summoned but I do not know how.

According to what I've read, Access 2010 uses the same database format as Access 2007. So this should mean I can open and run a 2007 database (with a lot of VBA code) in Access 2010 with no trouble, yes?

So why do I have the feeling that something is not going to work? Is it because I have been through to many Access upgrades?

If you have not purchase Access 2010 yet, what I'd recommend the Trial Version and play around with it for quite a while.

I'm in the process of trying to teach myself Access 2007 and write a training database for my company all at once. The problem I'm stuck on at the moment is logging training for the employees. I have a table that has all the employee info (name, id, etc) and a table that has the training info in it (class name, date taken, instructor). What I need to be able to do is show the name of the class, the date and all the employees on the screen at once and then easily register them as having attended the class, preferably with a check box or something. I have been searching for a while for the answer to my question with very little luck. So I thought that I would ask on how to this without my file becoming so large in my tables.

My issue is that I am trying to figure out how to do a long range schedule with no consistent work schedule. Things are constantly changing where I work and need a better way to track who is suppose to work what days. Is there something that I am missing in database design to figure this out.

when trying to open an access database i get the following error:

It sounds like Access has a Form to open when you open the database, it is usually a Switchboard.
Does the Error message include a "Debbug" button?
Can you still look at the database after the error message?

Hi I have a table which only ever has one record in it at a Access 2007 event Open Database time This record is created during the use of the database so when you first open the database there is Access 2007 Database Open event no record If the database is closed properly using buttons etc i have created then the record is deleted and the table is empty However if for some unforseen reason the database crashes or is closed a different way the record will not be deleted Because of this i d like to know what control you can have either when the database is first opened or when it is closed by any method of closing i e can i delete the record by default on opening the database Could i delete the record by default on closing the database Or if neither is possible is there a way Access 2007 Database Open event to drop and re create the table while opening or closing the database Help always appreciated Cheers Lewis nbsp

I normally have a splash form load that handles this type of stuff.

You could also use an macro named AutoExec that will be automatically run when the database loads.

You can use either of these methods to run an delete query to empty the table.

It also never hurts to also delete the record on close.

I use a main menu for that will not allow Access to close unless the user click the "exit" command button. This way I can be sure that code runs when the database is closed. This only takes a few lines of VBA code to implement. Let me know if you are interested in how to do this.

I am using Access 2007 under Vista in a Server 2003 environment.

The user has full rights to the DB and to the PC.

The database code appends a table and then exports the table to a folder on the PC. I get the message:

Database or object not updatable.

I use this exact code in Access2003 on several other work environments with no issue. I can export manually from this database.

Any ideas???

I have a form that shows the user all their inputs for the day in a list box - they can click on a record and be presented with that input so that they may make changes and edit their input.

The coding to collect the primary key from their list works - I can show it on the new form BUT
how do I open the table so that it populates the form. Or do I have to collect all the fields in embedded SQL in VB - assign them to unbound fields in the form and when the user has finished editing, I have to use VB to update the fields.

I really hope there is an easier way to do this than the VB way.

I have found from several forums and support sites including Microsoft that many users are asking solution for the error generating by MS Access 2010 or 2007 while running their custom made Access 2003 database usually after after upgrade.
The error is showing as "The expression On Click you entered as the event property setting produced the following error: The expression you entered has a function name that Microsoft Office Access can't find."

The solution is as below:
This error is causing due to disabled macro setting by default. So you will need to enable the macro as per the following method.
Go to File > Options > Trust Center
Then Click on "Trust Center Settings".
Here click on the Option " Show the Message Bar ... ..."
Re-open the Access File in exclusive mode
Now click on the yellow message bar on to to enable macro..... ..... problem solved.

I am building a database to track and manage Sales, Customers, Products, Orders, etc. and am running into some difficulties. I have an orderform with a subform detailing the products the customer ordered. I need to have a conditional total as each product has two "Prices". The three totals are conditional on a Field called Free. If Free is true the item costs one price (and is negative) while it costs another if Free is false. I am getting a #Error message on my total field in the subform footer. I have a query that the subform pulls from that sorts by an IIF statement for based on the Free field, these fields are calculating correctly but not totaling.

This database is based on one origally built by Cosla in this thread.

I appreciate any help I can get on this issue, I hope to have this working by tomorrow at 5PM Pacific.

Jake the problem isn't your access, it is your network. Vista has a dynamically adjusting IP setting. This is a common problem with Vista/2000 Server. Copy to a command file and right click "run as Administrator" or login in as administrator and start, run, cmd. Type in the dos window.

Looking for an opinion on the best software for website design and database to fit our needs.

About Us:
Our level of experience is minimal. We understand the basics and will make it work if the software is somewhat user friendly.The software must be non-programmer friendly.

The Website:
Will have roughly 6-10 pages of interface for visitors. When you sign up there will be about 70 pages of 'database' interface with help, support etc. Users will login and store information on the database.

Website Design: Must be non-programmer friendly. Fairly inexpensive. We prefer resident software, not online design.

Hi and welcome to TSG. Adobe DreamWeaver is the best software for web designing, in the web designing world. Anyway it is bit expensive. So if you are looking for a free software and if you are a Microsoft user, you can download "Microsoft Visual Web Developer" for free from there site. Those are the best software for web designing. There are lots of other software which will give you the "Click and Drop" facility but I can't recommend them because I have seen lots of people having problems with them and I haven't use them.

For the database question, MySql is a good database management system and if you don't know SQL, you can use MySql/MyAdmin. Manually installing the database is a real headache so download and install XAMPP from the web site of Apache Friends. It will install Apache server, MySql and many more.

Apart from these, you can use JOOMLA, because it is a "Making stuffs easy" software. It has it's own templates and much more. I can't tell any more about that because I haven't used that, because I create sites manually.

I am building a db that stores & print names and addresses of physicians. I want the user to be
a) mulitselect each doctor's name & address to be printed. Each name selected appears in another window/list box .

I ve built a reasonably complex database system that maintains bookings attendances timetables payments etc for a music tuition school using Access as both the front and back end sigh only because that s all I have to database error... Access "3734" 2007 lock work with Apart from all of the little annoying bugs and restrictive designs I ve come across an error quot the database has been placed in a state by user admin quot commonly referred Access 2007 "3734" database lock error... to as error I ve scoured the net for similar issues and every one of the problems I ve found discussed refers to either multi-user databases or opening and closing the mdb repeatedly My problem is this is a single user database only one PC is connected to the database in any way and it only occurs when I try to run any of the design wizards either chart wizard or combo box wizard etc I ve tried restarting the PC opening the database without running ANY macros or forms and designing a new form chart wizard BAM error pops up can t create any charts Could this be because the database is corrupted I would have thought I d get other errors if this was so and so far I haven t except the odd debug due to coding errors Now even more strange after doing NOTHING different sometimes maybe out of times it works as per normal no locking errors Any thoughts or ideas would be hugely appreciated As an afterthought I d like Access 2007 "3734" database lock error... to re-design the db interface on a more stable platform anyone have any suggestions on what database back-end is easy to maintain and import access data into and what front end is relatively easy to work with and stable I was thinking MySQL and VB nbsp

I stay away from Access these days specifically because of problems like this. I can't offer you much help with the problem other than to say that I think your project probably is corrupted, but at least your data probably isn't. You may be able to re-create it in Access by attaching the mdb file to a new db project and then copying and pasting a lot of your forms and functions over, one at a time, testing after each step so that you will hopefully catch the problem and not transfer it to the new project.

I would definitely recommend getting out of Access. MySql and VB is not a bad idea. I think, however, that, since you are used to Access, you might have an easier time transitioning to SQLServer (Microsoft SQL varies in some key areas from the pure SQL you'd use with MySQL). Also, the free version of SQLServer is probably easier to install and configure (on a local machine) than MySQL.

Depending on your needs, I'd steer you more toward than just straight I've developed several of these types of applications, on both platforms and I always feel handicapped when working just in VB.Net. brings in other elements that you'd need to learn, but also provides a lot of very easy methods for displaying data that are more or less absent from VB. Plus, the web browser eases a lot of the formatting burdens that can drive you insane in Either way, I'd recommend downloading the Express version of Visual Studio and running through some of the "Getting Started" walkthroughs; they are very helpful and will help you get a better idea of what your options are.

How does one produce rounded corners in command buttons? An Example given by MS book Inside Out creates comand buttons with rounded corners but I can only produce square corners. A small problem but the appearance is much better.

I have a form that on the click of a button opens a report and keep doing some background work.

When the report previews, the form seems to go automatically on design view, so the operations to be performed on the background stop, and a message appears, indicating that nothing can be done, because the form is on design view.

If I send the report straight to the printer (normal view) then all works fine, but if there is an error on the report, there is no way to catch it until after it prints.

Is there a way to keep the report on preview and the form on form view, so everything wil work smooth as it should?

Hello All,
Our company had a photo booth with an F-35 fighter jet at a recent technology show. Individuals were allowed to have there pic taken in front of the aircraft with a pretty model. Now I have over 2500 pictures and over 2500 individuals that need their pic emailed to them. I have an Access database with a name, email address and a picture. Each name has a different image. How can I automatically send each person their picture through Outlook? I would like it to automatically populate a new email with the address and corresponding pic then have it be sent on its way while I am home sleeping. Can this be done? Is there a command that can run a VB script in Access to accomplish this? I thank you profusely in advance.

Is there a way in an access database to not display data that is older than the data that is being entered?

I decided to make a mde file with it out of curiousity. It has now taken my database and password protected it. I never set any password and as such cannot get access to the database.

It has taken my user name from my login, but it is not using my login password.

Does anyone know how I can override this, or reopen an older version of the database.

I have a option contract to recieve up to 10 apples per day for the next year. I share this contract with other people. I am creating a database that will let me know how many apples are available on any given day throughout the next year.

I am thinking that I will have to set up a table with a field for date and capacity. Then subtract 1 each time someone takes an apple on that day.

Is there a better way?

I don't support Access, nor have I been trained in it, but I've been asked if I can help in this problem.
An Access database connects externally to a SQLServer database at login time for the application. How do I find which external database they are connecting to? I know that there is a way to go behind the forms to see the source code, but I cant remember how to do this.
I cannot find an obvious User/System file dsn on the PC to give me a clue.

Here's the question- how do I open a form in an existing database from another db in Access 2010 using VBA and give it focus. I can open the external db and it's form but cannot figure how to give it focus. I'm trying to create a master form that will call various databases that each have a form. Seems simple, open the master menu, click on a button that then opens the called db and the associated form. Do my business exit the db and am back at the master form. I would be okay to just close the master db, all it has it the main menu or leave it open. Doesn't matter which I just want to open the called db and form and have its focus.

Dear ppl,

I´m writing a small database for my local flying club.
I´m experiencing a small difficulty.

I want the computer to calculate the total of charged flight time for each month and that year. Also the total of non-charged flight time for each month and that same year.

Problem: I have no idea how to write the code for the action to preform when pressed the ´Calculate´ button. I did have a small introduction in VBA using Access but my knowledge is limited in VBA.

Second problem: I would like the duration of the flight to be in this format ##:## and the sum also, instead of having to work with decimals etc. IF POSSIBLE

I have a problem trying to open my Access Database in a Visual Basic application. I'm using VB6.

The Access database is called TTDB.mdb and was created in Access 2000. It is stored in the same location as my VB project files, and the file seems to be found but VB cannot load it. I'm using the following code in the Form_Load event:
Set DB = OpenDatabase(App.Path & "\TTDB.mdb")
The Error I get is:

Hi, I'm wanting to know (preferably step by step), how I can access an Access file I have on one pc via other pc's in the office (upto 3).
I'm running XP pro, and the other pc's are XP home, XP media edition, and there may be a vista home premium.
Access is Access 2002 on all machines.. Having looked around it seems spliting into frontend and backend is the way, but having tried different combinations, i'm stuggling...(Even to how you get a front end). I only have one table(?) if thats the right term, and dont use any of the other objects in the list (queries, forms etc) at the moment..
Having even followed the instuctions on microsoft support site, still no joy.(Didn't think I was that daft..but looks like I am)

I'm a newcomer to Access db. I'm using Access 2007.

I've made reports coming off of queries. Most of my queries are for limiting dates - ie: Begin date: 07/01/07 and End date: 7/31/07.

When making a report, I've been able to pick up the parameter used in my query. In other words, in the heading of my report I have text boxes with [Begin date] and [End date]. When the report runs, it obviously asks me the begin date and end date, and then these parameters are shown in the header of my report.

However, when I make a report with a CHART in it, instead of displaying the begin date or end date, it displays #Name? - like it doesn't recognize the variable.

What's the difference between a "report" and a report with a chart in it? How I can get these variables to display?

I did a fresh install of Office97. So why when I try to open Access I recieve this error. Can't find the database you specified,or you didn't specify a database at all.

I tried to split my database located in a shared folder in a network drive for multiusers, but when i tried to save the backend in the same folder i get the message " not a valid file name" despite i tried to do the same in my laptop and save the backend on the desktop and it worked.

why i cannot save the backend in the network drive shared folder.?

May need to go to the trust center and allow trusted sites on network and make these trusted locations. Each user will need to run a FE from thier local computer to get the multi user thing working correctly. They will each have to do the trusted site thing as well.

As part of my coursework, I have to create an Access Database. I have a slight problem where, if you go to the form 'frmCustomer' and try to add a new record in the frmAllBookings subform within the frmBooking subform, it will not let you add the new record and will display the following error:

Cannot add record(s); join key of table 'tblBooking' not in recordset.

I have gone through all the settings and I can't figure out what's causing it. Everything else seems to work fine.

I have uploaded a copy of the file. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated.

I had an issue earlier in a coursework Database project, which has now been resolved. I have started to create the invoice and the 'Subtotal', 'Discount' and 'Total' calculated fields display '#Error'. They work in the 'frmBookingTotals' subform on the 'frmCustomer' form and I have copied them directly from the form, but yet they don't work in the invoice. The record source of the invoice points to the fields which are referenced by the calculated fields and I have checked for obvious errors, so I can't see what's wrong.

I have attached a copy of the file I am working on.

I just created an access database app. for a client, and used a calendar at the top of two forms. When I took it to them, and downloaded to their computer, the calendars do not display properly (ie: AT ALL!!) What could be causing this? Is there something messed up with their program, or a setting that isn't right, or what?? I know it's not the app., cuz I've used it on 5 different computers, and it works just fine, except on THEIRS....which is what counts!! I used Access 2000 to create it, and that's what's on their machine, so it SHOULD have worked like a charm....or so I thought!!

Any suggestions?

After a colleague accidentally deleted about 100 records from our database we have recently used the "User and Group" permissions to restrict the user account from making any deletions.

The problem I have is with updating the DB. Until we used permission any changes would be made by copying the DB onto my desktop, making the changes then exporting any changed forms, tables etc into the "Live" DB at the end of the day when nobody else is using it.

Now with the permissions set a copy of the database will not allow me in, it comes up with the "You do not have permission..." error message without allowing me to log in.

Any ideas?

I have a access database thAT exports data to an excell file. A macro in access then opens this file and another in excell. The second excell file reads data from the first then uses a macro to format it properly and print the info. Right now I can only run this macro from the excell file. Can I run this macro (called Button2_Click in Module 3) from access? I have been using the OutputTo and RunApp action to run this macro so far.

I was wondering if anyone has come up with a formula that might be helpful when initially quoting an Access Database. Maybe 1 table with ?? fields = ?? minutes, one simple form based on one table = ?? minutes, etc.
I find myself practically creating the database to get an accurate quote. There has to be a better way!

i am working on a new database which so far has 24 record sets in it. I have a hyperlink field and every time time i insert a hyperlink it works ok then i lose the record set link is within. More links i add more record sets i loose. good job i had a back up of my work.
