I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I'm thinking that without gaming ambitions, the new Intel core i3 CPUs might meet your needs with their integrated graphics. These give pretty decent scores in
the Windows Experience Index, something like 4.9 for Areo, and 5.3 for business and gaming graphics. To the best of my knowledge, the matching H55/ H57 Intel chipset motherboards provide Fire Wire input.

You should first subscribe to Newegg's Email list, so you can grab your parts as they become available on sale.

Here is Intel's list of socket LGA1156 CPUs available at Newegg; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...=2010340343 50001157 1051749233&name=LGA 1156

And the matching integrated graphics H55/ H57 boards in the Gigabyte brand; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...01314 1070549182 107173338&name=Intel H55/H57 Be sure to pick one with 4 memory sockets. (4 out or 5 do). I have this one; http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128421

Please pay no attention to the bad reviews for this product, they were all written by imbeciles claiming, "high technical ability". I don't know squat about computers, and I had one of these systems up and running perfectly, with Windows 7 installed, in about 3 hours.

In fact, I'm hoping Newegg will offer "don't know squat" as a technical ability claim option. That way, I'll be able to check, "don't know squat", and report, "it works perfectly for me, 5 stars"!

Here is a test report done on a few of these boards at Techspot; http://www.techspot.com/review/259-intel-h55-motherboard-shootout/

A:Music Production Computer-Performance

Hello Dozer, and welcome to the vista forums,

the Background settings on windows OS is more related to desktop Vs Server set-ups but as the statement made on the site is basically true then it may well be that running in Background Process mode may improve performance in your specialised role.

I would have to assume that the statement made is from their experience but as each system is unique the only way to truly know in your case, is to give it a try change the setting and use it for a while and see if there is a perceivable improvement.

The correct way would of course be to create a benchmark for your machine. EG process a particular file both with and without this setting and compare time taken, but I have found that often it is the perceived performance that really matters in these things

Hi, i would like to create a PC for music production and a little bit for desktop publishing (not videos editing, just like illustrator, a little bit of photoshop).

I have a budget of 1'500$ without the monitor. I know that i would need a good processor, good motherboard, SSD and 32 Go RAM. the computer should be silent if possible.

Could you help me ? I need to create a components list

hi.. i'm a music producer... and my main tool is Reason 4 software from PropellerHeads... and i want to buy a new PC... and my dilema is the CPU..
which one do you think i should buy.. the new 45nm E8400 or the old Q6600??
the problem with Reason is that it's not biult for multi core CPUs so i guess the E8400 should do the job better... but recently i saw some tests with Reason running on a Q6600 and i was amazed...
really dunno what to do here. and my mainboard of choice is the Gigabyte G33-DS3R... hope someone could help me on this one!

thanks in advanced!!

A:Intel E8400 or Q6600 for music production?

To Err Is Human....To Forgive Is Not in the Nature of Computers...

Either the 8400 or the 6600 should give more than adequate performance with music files. (By "more than adequate", I mean spectacular). I don't want to overstep my knowledge here, but I'm guessing that music files don't present the same degree of difficulty as 1920 X 1200 High Def Video encoding. Which I'm sure software engineers are currently rushing to adapt applications for quad (or more), core use. Point being you couldn't go wrong with either CPU.
BIOS updating can be a tricky and risky affair. That being said, I would check which BIOS version is present in the Motherboard before making a decision on which CPU to buy. The E8400 would absolutely require a BIOS update, whereas the Q6600 might not. IMHO, the plug and play part always wins.
Then there's always plan "C": wait for a 45nm quad CPU.

I found this to be quite interesting, I have Nero 6 which is not at least 3 years old. When I use the"advanced analysis" function in "Recode" (essentially "DVDshrink") on my machine with a Pentium Dual Core E2200, task manager is telling me that BOTH cores are operating at 100%. I didn't think that this version of Nero was even written for dual core CPUs, but there you have it, clipping along at up to 1000 FPS, firing on both barrels!

A:Laptop recommendations for music production and hi-res video viewing.

I'm not going to recommend a model, just make a couple of comments. I have a 17" laptop and like the large view on it. I write/perform/produce music as well, so I don't know if I'd put money in a separate laptop soundcard. The cards you mentioned are not pro-level cards... you may want to look into a separate usb sound device from Focusrite, Tascam, or Avid. You can still use the internal card for portability, but for multi-I/O and midi recording and high fidelity you want a good audio interface. Look on zzounds.com, musiciansfriend.com, sweetwater.com or other music equipment sites.

A:Advice For Future Purchase:Audio Card For Music Production

I have a Recording Studio (using Sonar X3 Producer). The general consensus on most recording forums is that a PC sound card is crap for recording and low latency. You are better off considering a "real" recording interface device. The USB connected units seem to have the edge now, with Firewire sort of becoming pass?. USB devices generally have lower latency too.

My main recording interface unit is a Roland Octa-Capture. It is 8 analog input channels, but there are units with less input channels. The Focusrite Scarlett units seem to be gaining in popularity too. Presonus is headquartered in Louisiana and sells recording hardware and software.

The "gearslutz" forum would be a good place to look or ask your questions. Gearslutz.com

Here is a starting point for you, these are quality products and should do the job fine and all for 399.12 delivered.
I have left it under the 500 for case and OS if required
Also you could always go for a better graphics card, if your not into gaming then the one in the list will be fine

My desktop computer came originally with windows me. Several years ago I got windows xp professional version that gradually was updated by Microsoft to sp3. Few weeks ago my pc didn't want to boot, probably I got virus, and I couldn't find my windows xp disc. I turned up entire house but it never showed up. I bought online another disc ? windows xp sp2 home edition. I loaded it to my pc but Microsoft tells me that coa is invalid. I entered the production key that come with this disc several times and each time I got invalid key. Is there any help with the production key? Is there a way to activate my windows xp disc? Please help.

A:production key

Do a fresh install of XP Home Sp2. This will wipe any personal files from your computer so backup any files you can't live without first. Put then XP CD in the drive and reboot the computer. Boot off of the XP CD. You may need to boot into Setup (Bios) and set the Boot Priority to be CD rom drive first boot device. You should see the message Press Any Key to Boot From CD. This starts the Windows installation. When you get to the Partition Information, Format the Windows Partition and Install Windows.
What is the make and model # of your computer? After installation go to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager any devices with Yellow flags need to have drivers installed. Go to the computer manufacturers support/download drivers site and type in your make and model # and download any drivers you require from the Device Manager.

That looks like a decent build for your requirements.

Don't forget the Z68 motherboard and a quality branded 400-500W PSU.

A:Building A Computer

Welcome!

The stories you heard are inaccurate, to say the least. Windows 7 is very good with compatibility, better than its predecessor, Vista.

Windows 7 cannot "fry" cards. If anything can fry a card, it is a power surge or hardware malfunction.

So, fear not! Just buy a modern card, and it will tell you if it is compatible with Windows 7.

The short answer is, no it won't quite work out.
What do you need the computer for? Why exactly do you want the load of RAM "n a really good processor"?

I was wondering about power supplies and SLI First off My power supply was watts more than my last but apparently wasn't SLI ready so I have a single graphics card stuck to the board Nvidia single Gig Hasn't done as well as I had hoped So I'm thinking you have to buy power supplies that specifically say SLI ready on them so that you may have the proper cables provided am I right my watt has enough power but not enough cables it seems I am looking for a new power supply are there any suggestions on this or will an SLI ready work Perhaps I will also upgrade to a watt just in case Secondly Are there better graphics cards suited to SLI mode than the or is it just quot newer is better quot as in computer little A building fun My preference is a card that doesn't strain itself to the point of overheating but works very well in SLI mode and does very well in games I have plenty of cooling would another GB really boost graphics or should I scrap this card I read positive reviews on it and it is a fairly cool card But perhaps it lacks too much I'd love to hear any ideas perhaps you've had a good time about your SLI setup

A:A little fun computer building

nVidia has a list of certified PSUs:

Build an SLI PC - Certified SLI-Ready Power Supplies

There are probably lots of PSUs that would work fine that nVidia hasn't tested. You'd want one with four 6 pin PCI-E power connectors. (6+2 connectors can be used with either 6 or 8 pin.)

I haven't tried SLI, but I imagine that two 460s would be more powerful than any single card (including the 580).

I had a Crossfire X setup with a pair of Radeon 4870s, but gave up on it after struggling with drivers. Perhaps nVidia does better.

I have tried re-installin the printer and updating the drivers but neither worked...please help, I use my printer for schoolwork!)

A:Building a computer

I recommend you check out sites like www.newegg.com and www.pricewatch.com to get the best prices. As for cables, they'll usually come with the parts especailly if you buy Retail instead of OEM parts. IDE and Floppy cables come with the motherboard, the optical drive will come with an IDE and Audio cable, and those are the only cables you need.

Do you have some specs in mind for the computer or what you intend to use it for?

A:Building a computer

Windows XP may need SATA drivers on a floppy. Everything else can be installed after Windows is up and running. You can use a CD or a USB drive or even network if your NIC was supported.

Other than that, just read the Windows installation guide and any tips in your motherboard manual.

Hello everyone, i am thinking of building my own PC.... I am looking for a PC that can handle games such as MW2 and other new games but be very cheap to buy. This is why i am looking to build my own PC, because i heard it was alot cheaper. I am 15 years old and i need a computer to myself, because our homecomputer is slowly dying. My brother is an IT expert so he can put the PC together, the only thing i need to do is to get the parts.. I am not sure which parts to get, i know the basic parts but i don't know which ones to get....

I need to know which parts i should get, and if they are compatible (i dunno if all parts are compatible i just wanna be sure) and if its powerfull enough... Thanks alot people!

I notice that some of you have sigs with what type of system you have. I would like some advice with what to buy and most importantly where to buy it so I can get major rebates

Im thinking something along the lines of

Asus Motherboard (not sure which one)
AMD Processor 2.5k+
ATI Radeon 9800 card.

Will my current DDR ram work with a system like this?
Whats a price effective MoBo/Processor Combo?
Looking to spend 800ish on those 3 and also soundcard and case.
(I have the hard disk and the rest already)

Avengus,

Some detailed benchmarks / reviews on all categories of hardware here :

And though I'm in the UK and don't use them - these people are frequently proposed as worth checking out for comparing prices :

You might also state what your primary use of the PC would be.

The graphics card you referred to is high end - are you a heavy gamer ? Or would something a bit more mid range be more suitable ?

A:Building a new computer, please help :)

Looks pretty darn good!

Just a few suggestions: For your primary HDD....go with an SSD then use a standard HDD for storage and what not. I'd get the WD black series 2 TB...that should be plenty for your storage needs. On the PSU I would go full modular either Gold or Platinum certified and a brand by either Seasonic, EVGA. There's some stories going around about Corsair PSU that are just junk. My buddy has one and it's given him nothing but problems. And for your GPU I'd go with an Nvidia, at least a GTX 960 and if you can swing it a 970. Way better graphics card.

Other than that, damn fine build.

I've moved your post to the Hardware forum and removed all of the formatting. Please do not use such a large size font as people will have to scroll down the page just to read one post. Also, there's no need to select a font and size for every line of your text, once at the beginning and once at the end is sufficient. Please be more mindful of this in the future as it took a long time to edit it.

A:please help, building an AMD computer

Hi danvorhaus!

I know where your coming from when it comes down to building a quality reliable pc. It's hard making choices when its your first time. You really dont know what brands are good over the bad ones.

I took some time and actually pieced you a system together. This will probably be over your expectations but i went by the rule of quality. Of course things can be changed by yourself or other recommendations by other users. This is basically a rough draft. I didnt exactly go for the best but i did try to keep in mind of keeping the cost down as much as possible. Certain things like the motherboard and the power supply are the most important items that should not be skimped on. They are the heart and soul of the pc. Going cheap on these are nothing more than a headache.

Have a look and tell me what you think. All recommendations are welcome. The motherboard does have a built in sound card. Which is okay but a pci sound card is much better than the onboard. So if you want to add one go right ahead. I like soundblaster but others may recommend something else.

With all said and done.....here's your first rough draft on your new pc.

Here's a pic of the hardware i have selected.

I almost forgot about the heatsink. As long as you use all the available fans in the case. The retail heatsink should work out fine. You can always upgrade it later.

Edit: I did forget to add a cdrw/dvd drive. So you will need to select one for your system.

I believe you already have a thread on your PC build here: http://www.techspot.com/vb/topic172833.html

I suggest you continue posting on the earlier thread for any further queries or concerns. There is no need for multiple threads dealing with the same topic.

Also, the build recommended to you in the previous thread will outperform the current one you've drawn up in terms of graphical performance.

A:Building My first computer

The plug that goes into the motherboard is pretty obvious as its the only one of its kind (ATX). The fans on the case can be powered by the 4 pin connectors from the PSU. The reason the fans have male and female sides because you could route the power through that connection and use it for something else (like another fan, for example. Of course using the proper extension cables) since fans don't necessarily take up that much power.

As for the motherboard 3pin connections, those are usually for fan RPM detection for your BIOS and system monitoring.

For your front panel temp and fan connections, I don't think it would plug in the 1394 connections on your motherboard. That's for firewire. Only reason I could think of why it would connect there is if you have ports being transferred to your front panel as well. You may want to check your manual.

OK, you need to post your specs ie exact mb, exact cpu, exact ram, exact pw supply, etc, etc.
Next was this a dell, hp or other big box system you installed in a new case?

How exactly did you install the motherboard and standoffs in the case?

I'm building my first computer, how does everything look?

* Cpu/Heatsink
* Mobo
* RAM
* PSU
* Case (with fans)
* Wireless PCI adapter (I have to go wireless)
* I already have a keyboard
* I already have a mouse
* I already have a monitor
* I already have two IDE HD's
* OS - Ubuntu Linux

Alright; so there it is... does everything look compatible? Am I missing anything? How hard will the cpu be to install (Will I have to use that "glue" stuff for the installtion?). I know I didn't choose a video card, and I know I should upgrade to Serial-ATA HD's, but I'm on a low budget here, I will upgrade later.

Thank you,
FenderGuy2112

A:Building a computer.

You didn't list any optical drives. Keep in mind that you will have to use SATA optical drives since your two IDE hard drives will occupy the lone IDE (PATA) controller on the motherboard. Alternately, you can probably use adapters.

The CPU just drops in and you lock it down. You definitely need to use thermal compound for heat transference between the CPU and the heatsink.

Hey, I'm new at this, and I'm planning to build a computer, when I save up. Here is my list of parts I made, hoping someone can verify if it will work, or give me some suggestions:

-Video Card
-PSU
-Case
-Monitor
-RAM
-CD/DVD Drive
-CPU
-Mainboard
-Hard Drive
-OS
-Sound Card

I'm thinking of possibly changing the processor to an Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 or an AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+

Thanks in advance, I apologize for the links

A:Help, building a computer

I'd recommend going for the E8400 as you mentioned and changing the motherboard to a Gigabyte P35-DS3L or an ASUS P5K. Also, why are you getting PC2-8000 RAM? This RAM kit will be perfect, even if you're looking to OC it.
In addition, I recommend the Corsair VX550W over your current choice.
Lastly, for a few bucks more, this video card is a much better performer than the HD 3870.
Everything else looks good. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I toasted one of my computer so I figure I'll take the old 5 year old case and put a i3 CPU which I think is better than my E6550 Intel. I was going to build a i5 or i7 but I'm not sure about the case, if I should get a new one or not. If I should get a new case then I'll go with a i5. It's been 3 years since I built a computer so any tips would help. Thanks.

A:Building a computer

Well, the case itself isn't going to be the issue persay, it will be mostly the Motherboard you will be putting into the system and the Power Supply Unit that is in the case.

Ideally, you can swap out the Power Supply and still keep the case, but it is really the main board that will be your biggest problem with the case. If the case's back panel, for instance where your USBs, ethernet and what not, don't line up with the back panel or you can't remove the back panel, or worse yet, the orientation of the board is not matching up with your case... You are pretty much needing a new case in general.

The only other issue with your case would be how much room there is and what you plan on putting in the computer. If you are looking at a mini-tower or mid-tower, you will have minor to major space issues if you have to put in a large CPU heatsink cooler, possibly some air flow issues. That and it makes it a pain to do upgrades if you have a large hand with regards to memory and such.

Depending on what you plan on doing with the computer and also how quiet you want it to be, you may want to also mention 'how far' you want to go and what you would like.

Even if you build at the high end, it will be obsolete in 5 years. Both your needs and technology will change drastically by the time you go to college.

Hey all I am not great when it comes to hardware i don t really know what components are compatible with others etc and so I hope I can get some assistance from some of the people here I am looking for a very good gaming system and i have a budget of about however i may be able to stretch a little further if needed is about I really would like to get the best possible for my money good quality hardware with excellent performance and able to play all the latest games Is this a decent budget If so could some people please - need Building a help.... computer build me up a system from this budget and give me a link to the parts This way i can just purchase the parts Building a computer - need help.... and go ahead and build it please be aware that i am in UK and so a site that is based and that will ship to UK would be ideal Thanks very much in advance nbsp

A:Building a computer - need help....

For that budget, to start with I would suggest you look at AMD processors rather than Intel. For maximum performance, go with Intel, but you'll get a lot more bang for your buck with AMD. Take a look at the Phenom II processor family.

The money you'll save on the processor can be used to go further up the line on your graphics. And, for gaming, that's a good trade.

So I've decided to build my own computer. After ordering a case which can be found here http://www.newegg.com/app/viewproductdesc.asp?description=11-208-004&DEPA=1
I was looking at a Mobo that was ATX. I tried to match up the Motherboard and the back of the computer and I can't see how they match up. The case says it supports Standard ATX and the card said ATX. My first question is if Standard ATX and ATX are the same... Heres an example of a card http://www.newegg.com/app/Showimage.../13-131-510-03.JPG&CurImage=13-131-510-02.jpg

When i booted the new cpu it stayed cold, maybe its supposed to i dont know. But when i booted up old cpu it got really hot really fast, enough to burn you. I need help

Hey all, Im going to need to to build a computer, not just any normal computer. I need a computer basically as a backup storage device to all of my other video editing computers. Basically I need about a terabyte of storage or more. So about 4 or 5 250Gig HDs. I dont need anything fancy, just something that runs WinXP Pro. A motherboard with a good onboard sound, video, ethernet, and USB (maybe firewire?), ports is perfect. Any idea on the specific case I should go with, certain power supply, ram, fans, etc.? I DONT want the drives to be a RAID setup. I dont want this computer to go down on me, it needs to serve as the backup storage for all my editing computers in case one of THOSE goes down. Can someone just list the parts I should get or point me somewhere to help me out? Thanks alot!

The mother board will support up to 4 SATA connected drives, better for video editing than IDE or ATA drives. It also has onboard 7.1 Channel audio. For video, it carries a PCI Express slot (better than AGP 8x if you're unaware). You can find a card for less than $200 that would easily do the job.

Maxtor is my brand of choice on high volume drives, and that one has a 16mb buffer. Better than most which have 8mb now.

As for cases, I prefer Antec or Cooler Master. They range anywhere from 50-200 on price. If you go with Antec, their powersupplies that come with their cases are normally really good. Cooler Master I have dealt less with, but they tend to carry more 5.25 bays than most, and those are really good for installing internal Hard Drive heat sinks and coolers.

Power Supply? Make sure your careful what you buy. High watts does not mean more power. I have seen 300w PS's that out do 550w PS's that were bad. Just make sure what you go with here is a trusted brand and highly reviewed.

Anything else?

I'm building a new computer at the weekend, but it will be my first one which can support 64 bit.

I really don't know what difference there are between the two versions, will the 64 run smoother on it ?

I know there aren't many applications built for 64bit specifically, but am I right in that you can run 32bit on a 64bit system?

Thanks for your help, Linked.

A:Building a new computer, but x86 or 64

By x64 system do you mean CPU? If so then yes, x32 bit OS can run on a x64 CPU but it cannot vice versa.

Or do you mean x32 drivers on a x64 OS?

That PSU will fit just fine and it's available for $50 at CompUSA - http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3276574
Personally. I'd go with the LSP650 to feed your power-hungry video card. It's only $55 and if you notice the regular price is $100
http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=3276573&CatId=1483
I've had an LSP650 running my main machine for 2 years through 3 builds and no problems, runs very quiet.
By the way, almost any ATX power supply will fit most modern cases. Only some of the larger 1000 & 1200 watt models will have clearance issues in smaller cases.

Ok so some of you may have read my other thread "What motherboard should i get?" but that turned into a great thread where i basically changed everything to make the computer i want to build better. I was origanally going to buy a AMD Athlon 64 FX-55 2.60GHz but they upped the price from $400 to $650 (PLZ keep in mind these are canadian prices so dont link me to any american sites with "better deals") So now i have to switch from a FX to a X2, real bummer but i just dont got that kinda cash. i was looking to get the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+ 1MB Cache 2000MHz FSB Socket 939 but when the X2 first came out i heard some people who were sceptical abbout it. I was just wondering if it will be a good CPU for gaming.

Thanks for any help you can give me!

A:Need help Building my own computer!

It's Ok.

That processor is fine and all, but I suggest going with socket AM2. The prices have lowered, and AM2 is future-proof (atleast for now). S939 is going to be dead in a little while.

Anyways, I suggest you tone down the CPU a little. Going from an X2 3800+ (lowest end) to an X2 4800+ (highest end) will not provide a >15% gaming performance difference. However, I suggest while you get a lower CPU you get a better graphics card. It's the graphics card that's most importand for a game, so having a slower CPU and a faster graphics card is better than a faster CPU and a slower graphics card.

Graphics card?
Motherboard?
RAM?
Intel or AMD?
Sound card?
Vista 32 or 64?

I want to have a gaming comp.

What you going to use it for? If money is no problem whatsoever then just go for the absolute highest spec you can find.

Intel Quad-Core
8800GTS in SLI

etc etc...

I have been looking for a long time and I was wondering if this build was ok and will last me several years. I will upgrade GPU, CPU, and RAM as time goes on. I have a 450 PSU I already have and I was wondering if that will power this board and CPU with a 8800 GT. I am going to buy case, GPU, and hopefully PSU later. So basically, to start, I will have this board, a 8800 GT, a i3 CPU, and 4 GB of RAM with a 450 PSU. Will it work? I will upgrade when I get the new video card.

Hi guys.
Well, after frying my motherboard due to extreme stupidity on my part ,
I've got my parts set up again for, well... Setting up the computer.
Here's my planned way to set up my computer:

1) Set up standoffs correctly (only on holes that correspond to the motherboard) and install back panel
2) Insert PSU
3) Insert CPU/Heatsink on motherboard
4) Insert RAM on motherboard
5) Install motherboard onto standoffs inside the case
6) Connect the proper wires
7) Install graphics card on motherboard
8) Boot up

Does this sound right? If not, PLEASE correct me!
Also, can someone explain proper grounding techniques for installing the computer?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit: Ah, I forgot to mention. My case came with a rather thick metal ring. Is there any use for this?

A:Computer Building Help

Sounds good to me. As for grounding, the "proper" way is to get an antistatic wrist strap. The easiest way is to always be aware that you could be building a static charge. The best way is to build this on your kitchen counter or table top and before you do any touching of electronic parts touch your case. Everyone will tell you to not build on carpet because of that, but I've done it countless times and never fried something, just touch your case every once in a while and don't slide around on the carpet too much.

As for the metal ring, you are supposed to run those small wires (power switch, reset, leds, speaker) from your case through that ring, loop them through, before plugging into your motherboard. I'm not convinced that that is critical, I've not done that on a couple machines and never had problems.

Oh, and when you put the standoffs in, always put them in tighter than you expect to screw the motherboard in. It sucks when you are trying to remove the motherboard and half of the screws come out, and the other half you are unscrewing the standoff.

I have an Intel E6550 Dual core with 4 Gigs of 6400 RAM runing Windows 7 (64 bit) and a 1 terabyte Seagate Hard Drive, and it is slow for dealing with 15,000 pictures in one file because I'm trying to get rid of the duplacates and it's also taking close to 100% of my CPU output when I'm video calling and on magic jack at the same time. I would like to build another computer that would be much faster without putting me in the poor house. On each of the i series they have different speeds. I would like to have a motherboard that would support USB3, SATA 3 (6 gigs), and PC 2000. I don't need a hard drive, keyboard, mouse, or monitor and I'm looking to spend about $700. Any suggestions?

Hey all. Lately i have been thinking about building my own computer. I plan on making it for a gaming computer that can run well on most games but not hurt my pocket to much. Could anyone point me in the right direction on reading on what i need or really any information on building a computer. Any links would be apprciated. Thanks very much.

Ps sorry if this was posted in the wrong place.

A:Building A Computer

Yes, I build my own computers and I started with a book called, "Upgrading and Repairing PC's." It is now in its 17th printing. It is the best and teaches all about everything in a computer.

I suggest to start with this. Also you might want to search Google for How to build a Computer. And see what you get.

It is almost impossible to explain about this subject properly thru any Forum.

I am thinking of upgrading my current computer and possibly building my own computer. I see an ad from Computerhelp.com and it looks pretty good. Has anybody actually used their products? Is it any good or am I just wasting my money or worse give them my credit card info unwisely? Are are any free sites where I can get info on upgrading and building my own computer?

I will build you a very nice computer. I just need to know where you are purchasing these parts from (sites). 450W is the power supply. Dont worry, I will take care of that.
