# tracking changes

Q: tracking changes

Hi,

I need to send two copies of a text after editing it for a client on Microsoft word 2007. Client wants one copy saved without changes and another saved with changes, and both sent.

Can anyone help?

Preferred Solution: tracking changes

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

Is there some way for me to look at log files or other files to see what web sites my child has been visiting?

I work for a very small company and we are set-up with a very simple peer to peer network through a DSL router with Qwest. Well some times I'll stray to a porn site then stop and clean all cookies, temp, ect and yes I know I really should stop. Could my boss ever go back and ask Qwest records and track to my computer ??

sign Quilty

A:xxx tracking

Hi windseaker,

It wouldn't be rocket science for Qwest to track and report (to your boss or anyone else) what sites your company's computers have been accessing. More likely, if your boss wanted to know what you've been doing on the computer, he'd install (if he's saavy at all) a keylogger that tracks what you do, including taking an occasional snapshot of the screen at sites you go to, saves a list of web addresses that have been accessed, etc. and will also give a good indication of anything else done on the PC (open windows, programs used, etc., saves it to a file and emails it to him (that's how a lot of the keyloggers work these days).

Hope this helps,

Wayne

How would i know if my isp were tracking me. lol im a bit paranoid

A:How would i know if my isp were tracking me.

Hi Xnefoo. Could I ask you to be a bit more specific. I mean, your ISP can tell where you travel on the internet by your IP address. I'm not sure if that's what you mean or something a little more cloak and dagger.

Windows constantly accesses the hard drive in the background. You can see what processes are accessing using a utility such as Filemon: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb896642.aspx

Is there a way within Windows Vista to track all operations a computer does throughout any given day? I understand there are key logger programs etc. out there but is there any way to see what is being done on my computer without any extra software? I'm concerned an unauthorized user is sitting down at my pc and logging in without my knowledge or permission. I have passwords in place, of course, but I just want to see if they have logged on somehow and, if they have, what are they doing? I'm basically looking to find evidence of someone tampering on my machine. I'll take the necessary steps to stop them, but I want to catch them first. Any suggestions?

Hey, i want to know if it is possible to trace one of my msn contacts. I have this contact that is abusing me and all my friends, i know i know the person but its really bugging me on who it is! has anyone got a tutorial or any idea on how i can find out who it is?

A:Tracking?

You can find there ip address, for example send them a pic or something(tell them its of a hot girl/guy or whatever)

Open up command propt type in netstat -an

There you'll find there ip address(after a quick look around),tell them you have it and you will be in contact with there isp(find there ip using the tools at dnsstuff.com)

That should scare them enough too tell you who they are

Or you could just ban the user from contacting you!!

Have a look through the tutorials here you may find something,I dont no of one off hand, have a look through the ones on my site, you may find something.

Hope that helped you some bit

Hello,

I would like to ask you about using Team foundation Server as bug tracking system.

Already we are using Countersoft Gemini, this is one of many bug tracking application.
Because we started to use repository and build from Team Foundation Server, we consider also migrating bug tracking system to TFS work items.
Can TFS be utilized as complete bug tracking system with time logging and issue managements functionality?
Do you have any experiences with migration from other bug tracker to TFS?

we recently  invested in a new computer. Lenovo.  It has Windows 8.  per recommendation we installed kaspersky (sp?)  Virus protection.  I was happy with Av and could figure it out but this was what we were told to do  (by Geek Squad)

I can figure out how to run the virus scan,  can clear history but there doesn't seem to be anything for tracking?

even if I clear cookies there is still tracking.

we have firefox as the browser.

I am still trying to figure this whole system out, but if you can advise about tracking...without installing a gazillion other things,  that would be super.  Thank you so much.

I have a laptop through work. While investigating, I have found that my sister's boyfriend has made periodoc visits to undesirable websites and downloaded files. Other then erasing internet files, history, cookies etc, is there any other way one could find out this computer has been to such sites? I was told that even though one deletes, windows still keeps files on the hard drive. Is this correct and how would one erase such fies. Thanks in advance....

I really dont want to get too involved with this situation but you can set up a keylogger, a secretly running program that saves every key typed on the keyboard to a file, thus allowing you to see where they have been and what they typed to get there.

Good luck.

Our company newly introduced a sim tracking system. Now they are tracking where we are going all the time. They track us using our mobile number. If our phones are turned off, they can't track us. But always they strictly say us to turn on the mobile.

My question is this...
Is there any method to get rid of this system without turn off the mobile?

A:GPS and SIM Tracking

Disable all Location Services and verify which applications make use of it - - usually you can deny them.

As to SIM tracking; I believe that can only be done by the cell phone provider and you have no control over it, as it is necessary to allow service when you move about from on cell tower to another.

The Lost Phone(Android) or Find My Phone(Apple) service reports location usinging both GPS and Sim Tracking via the provider [/edit]

Hello all.

Me and several of my friends have some strange behaviour in our computers. All running on Win XP and Outlook express.
When a mail is sent and a single picture is included, and opened by the receiver with the picture viewer in Windows XP. Then it is possibe , with the 2 arrows in the bottom of the viewer, to move back and forth to see banners, icons and pictures from internet pages that the sender (or maybe other persons) and yourself has visited earlier. Allthough you have only included one single picture in the mail. The picture seems to keep its original size but the mail is several kilobyte larger even though it should contain nothing else but the picture.

(If the same mail is opened in Win 2000 I can?t see any history)

Have anyone noticed this before and what kind of virus/malware/spy shoul I search for?

I recently received an email from my internet provider informing me that one of my network devices has a spy bot running. My router is password protected. Otherwise, I have a PC, a Mac Book Pro, an LGG4, an iPad Air and a Motorola Droid  attached as permitted devices. All have some form of malware and anti virus and all are pass word protected, for what little good that does. I change passwords regularly, but probably not enouth. Yes, it's probably a fairly simple fix, but it's beyond my meager skills. I regularly run and update SpyBot and Avast on the PC, which is the most likely culprit other than the phones, and have seen some odd things, mostly files not being able to be accessed for scanning. I'm attaching the log file from the recent run of HiJack This. Thanks for your assistance.

Hello,

So I have an ip tracker on my MySpace page (trackspace.net). This service links the myspace user the the ip (provided they are registered with trackspace). When I was at work today, I noticed that someone logged into my trackspace account was perusing my page and my home ip was showing up. Is this only explanation for this the fact that someone was at my computer at home?

I should say, I do not have a wireless router. My computer is connected to a Comcast cable modem. Also, I did not leave my computer on when I left my house today.

One of the computers at my dad's office has been hacked. The person who hacked it has been using it as a front for downloading pirated software and porn. The IT guy checked for viruses, looked at their firewall logs and everything, but couldn't find out what was going on. They called the ISP, and got the IP address changed, but the next day the person got back into it.

I'm sure they will get security experts out there to take care of it, I was just wondering, how could the hacker get back into this computer after the IP was changed??? They are pretty sure it wasnt an "inside job". Does this mean maybe another computer or router their was hacked, or there is a keylogger installed maybe? I am curious as to how the hacker found the computer with a different IP.

A:IP Tracking???

The simplest way would to have a trojan "call home" program installed. Then, there is no need to know the IP address at all.
All Trojans are not necessarily detected by all antivirus programs.

Hi Thomas,

Welcome to Tech Support Forums!

If you are still having malware problems, I will be glad to help.

OK, here's what we do first.

Double-click combofix.exe and follow the prompts.

CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

NEXT:

Please reboot your computer normally into Windows, and then please post the ComboFix log and a new HijackThis log.

How are things running now?

Download WinPFInd http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/file...r/WinPFind.zip and extract it to your C:\ folder. This will create a folder called WinPFind in the C:\ folder.

Save it somewhere you will remember like the Desktop. Unzip the Track qoo.vbs inside to your desktop. DO NOT run it yet!

Reboot into Safe Mode
Restart your computer and as soon as it starts booting up again continuously tap F8. A menu should come up where you will be given the option to enter Safe Mode.!

Inside C:\WinPFind is a file called WinPFind.exe. Double-click on this file to launch the program. Once it is launched, click on the Start Scan button and wait for it to finish. This program will scan large amounts of files on your computer for known patterns so please be patient while it works as it can take a while, upwards to 30 minutes or more.! Once the Scan is Complete it will make a txt file (log) of what was found.

1. Go to the WinPFind folder
2. Locate WinPFind.txt

REBOOT to normal mode.

Double Click on "Track qoo.vbs"

Note - If you Antivirus has Script Blocking, you will get a Pop Up Windows asking you what to do. Allow this Entire Script to Run, its harmless!

Wait a few seconds and a notepad page will pop up, Copy & Paste those results and place them in the next post along with the results of WinPFind!

So I need the following tool logs..

WinPFind.txt log

Ok I have these traking cookies that keep showing up several times a day, every day. atdmt being the most notorious.

I keep running my spyware software and it removes them but later on when i run it again there they are. I've tried 3 different (well known) antispyware and I get the same result.

I thought it must have been a website I kept checking everyday but it's not since i removed some tracking cookies, I had all my browsers closed and I was just watching movies and reading pdfs when I decided to run it again and there they were.. sitting there mocking me.

any ideas on how to prevent tracking cookies from coming back? I think there must be a way in the web browsers' options.

A good Anti-Virus program that is Free to use and is highly recommended here is: Microsoft Security Essentials. http://www.microsoft.com/security/pc-security/mse.aspx

You will need to uninstall Symantec first if you decide to use MSE.

Hello to the smartest people I know!! I had asked sometime last week what the DCA_X_.dat where the exes are some nonsense like white list and the like. I found these once while del my temp files, which I do a couple times a day. I opened one of them to see if I could see what they are, that is :when I found out they were .dat files that were tracking. My question is this: If I post the .dat files text in here, can one of you tell me how to see what program is doing this? This isn't malware or spyware or another type virus. Trust me.

Jann oh, I thought it was Google Chrome, because my last upgrade of Avast installed it, because I mindlessly clicked ok and didn't take the check mark off that option.

What exactly does database tracking refer to? My web search came up empty

A:Database Tracking

Usually it means that the database is set up to keep a log of who and when any data is entered, changed or deleted.

Most database development software offers some level of automated tracking. Some of these are harder to use and some are easier to use. Sometimes, the database developer will opt to write his own tracking code and will set up code and tables in the DB to log when transactions occur, and who performed them.

We once put tracking code in a DB because the users weren't very savy and kept making mistakes, then when the output wasn't what they expected they would report an error in the DB code. We instituted tracking so we could tell whether there really was a code error or simply an user data input error.

Tracking can also used to monitor data entry accuracy and speed and to discourage and trace the entry of fradulent transactions.

Tracking is also used to resolve the transactions between a master database and distributed database replicants.

I really don't need it to email me any info, just be able to check at a later date.

A:Tracking software

Hi, You can do what you want with just the features in Windows.
Such as reviewing the History, autocomplete entries, Search toolbar entries, cookies, Temporary Internet Files.

If the person is too aware then you'll have to do something else.

We also do not support the use of keyloggers, however we do feel that there are legitimate uses of some, such as in the business world.

A quick search with Google should show you tons of results.

It's against forum rules to assist you with keyloggers.

Instead of those, try looking for Parental Control software, lots of those types monitor usage like you need to review.

Hi all-

It is basically just a way for us to be able to get inventory on what we have at our office. Does anyone know of a good bundle (barcode reader, software, printer) that is not really expensive and fairly simple to use? I have been to several different websites but it is hard to get solid information. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated!!

Here's a link to cheap inventory control systems. Most have a 30 day free trial period.
You could download and try them out and select the one that meets your needs. The hardware interface shouldn't cost much, but I would look for the best program to meet your requirements.

Tracking cookies are mostly harmless. They come from websites you've visited. When you delete them and go back to the same sites, you'll get them over an over, unless you set your Internet browser to block cookies. You have to be careful though not to be too restrictive, or else, many websites won't work without them, like Hotmail, forums like this one, etc. Open the link I've provided above and sroll down to "Cookie Tips".

Hi,
1st time here, so here goes , i play pogo games, some one is tracking me some how , i think by following my ip addy, even when i change my pogo screen name he still finds me , how is this done can some one explain it to me so i can track him as well, n maybe he will get the hint that it is not nice,
i am using xp

A:ip tracking in pogo

I don't think it's possible to find out someone's IP addy through Pogo.

If you're on this person's Friends list, he can track you that way. Does he know your other Pogo screen names? If so, he has them added to his Friends list as well.

I would suggest that you block this person. This is easy to do and can be done whether you're a regular member or a Club member.

1. Click on your Friends list at the top of your screen.
2. Find this person's name on your Friend list and click the Block link beside it. If you don't have this person on your Friend list then scroll to the bottom of the page to see the Blocked Players List link and click on it.
3. Type in this person's screen name and click Add to Blocked Players.
4. At the bottom of this page, put a check mark in Show my current location to players on My Friend's List only.
4. Do the same thing for all your Pogo screen names.

Now, it doesn't matter what game you're in, they can't see or find you.

If you want to block all messages this person - assuming you're in the Club -
1. Click on the Message tab at the top of your screen.
2. Look to the left of your screen and click on Preferences.
3. Put a check mark in Only accept invitations and messages from players on my Friends List.

I know that Adaware will allow you to keep track of cookies and if you right click on the cookie shown it will give you a description on it. Also, if you go to the Adaware web site after you have run it there is more information there concerning what you have found in the course of your scan. Every time I run ad-aware SE, it seems that it finds tracking cookies (critical objects), I delete it each time and they keep coming back on each run. Even when I do back to back runs. What gives ? I feel unconfortable knowing I have tracking cookies.

Also spybot never seems to find anything. I also have spywareblaster which is updated.

Evrything given its due, tracking cookies are the least harmful problems you can have. However, you can adjust your browser settings to either block cookies or to ask permission each time to install them; the latter option will allow you to decide which to install depending on your trust of the particular site you are visiting so that Ad-AwareSE has little to do when it runs.
I use Mozilla and regularly review its cookie manager to remove any from untrusted sites.

John

Lately when i scan with Ad-Aware SE it finds about 16 tracking cookies type "IECache Entry", Category "Data Miner". I can delete them, but after awhile they return. Ever since i've been finding them my computer has been running slower. Are they from/for internet explorer? If not, how do i permanently get rid of them?

Hello Mao. Deleting tracking cookies should not be a problem, as far as a slow-down. Adaware is removing them , but you are undoubtly picking them back up visiting certain sites.
Some advice, since I installed Spyware Blaster {a JavaCool program} on my PC's , and over a dozen others , I have noticed a marked decrease in items found by AdAware and Spy-bot. If you don't use Spyware Blaster---I suggest you do. Simple ---free and conflicts with no other programs.
If your computer really runs slow , maybe a HijackThis log should be posted, possibly another problem?. Also do a general clean-up {Temp files & Temp internet files} and defrag.
Here is a link for Spyware Blaster >>>>>
It works >f

Hi,
I'm using Windows 7 Pro - 64 bit.
Lately, sometimes the boot up takes almost 5 min. other times about 2 min.
I have not added any programs for months.
I'm using Norton 360 that does a virus scan at boot up.

Is there a program that i can install that will show me the progress on start up?
Maybe even manually do the start up through the program?

Mike

"I'm using Norton 360 that does a virus scan at boot up."

Is that really necessary at every boot time? That alone would account for the long boot time, and as more data is saved, the more files there are to scan, so it just gets worse. I never do a boot-time scan with my Norton product, I download stuff from all over the place and never been infected - the Norton real-time component has stopped all of them dead.

Can you configure your 360 boot-time scan to "skip" certain folders, especially those system folders that are "access denied", of which there are many such files. Norton will still try to scan those so it's wasting time while you are waiting to start using your PC.

Hello Everybody ! I'd like to know what I'm looking at here.According to the following ;Search for additional Internet activity. You should only have one connection, using one port. If a hacker has gained access to your system, an additional port will be in use. Running the command from the previous step will allow you to see what IP address the hacker is using, the hacker's hostname and the port number he is connecting through. It is possible to shut down the port and block the IP address, but for the moment, let's trace down who is gaining access to the computer and track what they are doing. How To Track HackersI'm not sure what I am looking at here, is there more than one connection, since it seems to say that if there is I may have someone hacking me ?
