I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If your trying to change a bios setting or Reformat any of the newer Dell Laptop's you may run into this issue! There is an Administrator password you will be prompted for. I believe this is created at the factory and unplugging the bios battery no longer does the trick! I tried many different passwords combos and found that:

<dell> all lowercase and minus the brackets works for a few of the newer Dell Laptops

That makes no sense at all. If it were true then Dell would have to provide the password as part of the information it provides to customers when they buy the laptop. Anything else would subject them to being sued.

My buddy gave me an old dell laptop that his wife uses from time to time. He has some short term memory issues and has already forgotten the password that he set on the admin account. This is the delima: I cannot re install windows because 1: there is not enough open space on the hrd drive. 2: the only copy I have laying around is from msndaa and seems to only work as a boot cd (this wont work because it only gives me the option to fresh install windows and wipe all the files). The files on the computer are supposedly pictures that cannot be lost PERIOD. I have tried some password cracking tools but to no avail. Ive tried ophcrack as well asa offline nt password recovery. I a not too familiar with ophcrack but after toying around with it I concluded that it was a failure. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I just purchased HP NC8230 laptop from eBay. It's really great laptop. The laptop not require boot password and so it reaches to windows XP, but unfortunately I discovered that its bios is admin protected, therefore I can't access bios and make any modification. I know that these business laptops have extra bios protection and therefore it's not so easy task to reset their password.

Can someone, that have experience with this kind of laptops, help me? It would be very appreciated.

Since you don't have admin rights on the guest account, you won't be able to reset the admin password. I'm not sure if they are kosher with forum rules to post, but there are plenty of free, easy to use password reset utilities out there.

I have an older HP900 laptop which is a nice size to take in our motor home. However, it overheats after running for about 15 minutes. I understand there is a bios update that turns the cooling fan on sooner but I can't get into the bios because of password protection. Any ideas on how to crack the password or any pins to short to reset it?

The laptop will run fine if I rais it off the table and have a fan blowing on it from behind. Cooling fan in laptop runs, but it only comes on shortly before a shutdown if I am not running an additional fan blowing under it.

thanks for any ideas or help

You can remove adware and a lot of malware using the programs below. But some of what you report could be of the more serious variety of malware and may need
assistance in the Malware Removal Forum. Suggest you first use the programs below to confirm whether or not you need expert guidance.

Use CCleaner to remove Temporary files, program caches, cookies, logs, etc. Use the Default settings. No need to use the
Registry Cleaning Tool...risky. Pay close attention while installing and UNcheck offers of toolbars....especially Google.
After install, open CCleaner and run by clicking on the Run Cleaner button in the bottom right corner.
CCleaner - PC Optimization and Cleaning - Free Download

Download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware from Here
Double-click mbam-setup-2.X.X.XXXX.exe to install the application (X's are the current version number).
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
Once MBAM opens, when it says Your databases are out of date, click the Fix Now button.
Click the Settings tab at the top, and then in the left column, select Detections and Protections, and if not already checked place a checkmark in the selection box for Scan for rootkits.
Click the Scan tab at the top of the program window, select Threat Scan and click the Scan Now button.
If you receive a message that updates are available, click the Update Now button (the update will be downloaded, installed, and the scan will start).
The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
If potential threats are detected, ensure that Quarantine is selected as the Action for all the listed items, and click the Apply Actions button.
While still on the Scan tab, click the link for View detailed log, and in the window that opens click the Export button, select Text file (*.txt), and save the log to your Desktop.
The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can also be viewed by clicking the History tab and then selecting Application Logs.

Download AdwCleaner by Xplode onto your desktop.
Close all open programs and internet browsers.
Double click on adwcleaner.exe to run the tool.
Click on Scan button.
When the scan has finished click on Clean button.
Your computer will be rebooted automatically. A text file will open after the restart.
Please post the contents of that logfile with your next reply.
You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S1].txt as well.
download Junkware Removal Tool to your desktop.
Shut down your protection software now to avoid potential conflicts.
Run the tool by double-clicking it. If you are using Windows Vista, 7, or 8; instead of double-clicking, right-mouse click JRT.exe and select "Run as Administrator".
The tool will open and start scanning your system.
Please be patient as this can take a while to complete depending on your system's specifications.
On completion, a log (JRT.txt) is saved to your desktop and will automatically open.
Post the contents of JRT.txt into your next message

Hold down Control and click on this link to open ESET OnlineScan in a new window.
Click the button.
For alternate browsers only: (Microsoft Internet Explorer users can skip these steps)
Click on esetsmartinstaller_enu.exe to download the ESET Smart Installer. Save it to your desktop.
Double click on the icon on your desktop.
Check "YES, I accept the Terms of Use."
Click the Start button.
Accept any security warnings from your browser.
Under scan settings, check "Scan Archives" and "Remove found threats"
ESET will then download updates for itself, install itself, and begin scanning your computer. Please be patient as this can take some time.
When the scan completes, click List Threats
Click Export, and save the file to your desktop using a unique name, such as ESETScan. Include the contents of this report in your next reply.
Click the Back button.
Click the Finish button.
Eset will not leave a report if no malicious items were found and removed.

only way to change the admin pw is to boot to safe mode and enter the sys admin account or use a hacking program iso which you can find easily but use at your own risk....

The firm in which I work has a Lenovo PC with Windows 10 installed. There are two user profiles on the computer, the admin and another normal account without administration rights. We have only the password of the account without administrator rights.

The network administrator had left the company surprisingly in without giving the administrator password of the PC and we cannot contact him anymore.

Now we want to install another programme and we cannot do this without an administrator account.

I disabled secure boot and have tried to boot the PC with an Linux USB Stick, but it do not boot from the stick.

Any suggestion how I either can reset the password of the administrator account or create an new account with administrator rights.

A:Windows 10 admin password reset or new account with admin rights

Although there may be techniques to recover a lost password it is forum policy that we do not discuss these here - your best bet would be to visit a local security specialist and get them to recover/reset it for you - and a change to the policy for the replacement admin may be a good idea, I always wrote a list of all passwords and stored it with the Managing Director and also in a fireproof safe

A:How to reset My Dell laptop password

Hi,
Thank you for writing to us!
If you are talking about the operating system password then you can do a factory rest or reinstall the operating system ( note that there will be data loss)
In case of the BIOS password then kindly write to us @DellcaresPro on twitter or Delltechcenter on facebook.
Kindly private message the service tag and email address .
Thanks

Last and not least , can this cmos chip be inline programable just like an ibm.(I don't remove the cmos in a ibm to reprogram it to remove crc errors) Any help would be great

I turned my computer on this morning (XPS M1330), it started updating automatically with updates and then would not accept my password. It gives the error message, " the user profile service failed the login." I do not have any software so I can reset the password, as I bought the computer from my brother about 2 years ago. What can I do? It doesn't seem right that the computer did these updates and is now rejecting my password with no solutions on how to change it beyond having the software.any help would be appreciated - thank you!

A:Dell laptop rejecting my password

If the user profile fails to load, the SAM won't load the password.  When this happens, there's a very good chance a failing hard drive is at fault.
Power the system up, press F12 a couple of times and boot to the Dell diagnostics.  Run the tests, and then boot to the full 32-bit diagnostics and run an extended hard drive test - you will likely find the drive has developed bad sectors where the user profile is stored, in which case you'll need a new, 2.5" 7 or 9.5 mm SATA notebook hard drive.

Last week Password Dell Before Accidentally Boot Set Laptop I tried to turn on my laptop to check my Email and it requested a password to open desktop normal but instead of my normal password it wanted my Microsoft Account login information which I did not remember So I tried to change this back to normal but it is Microsoft so NOTHING worked and I ended up setting a password before it even starts to load Windows Apparently this is a Dell password that I did not want and I would like to disable it please My reason to disable this ignorance is because it routinely forgets my password and tells me it is NOT VALID and then try again This is an issue because it only lets you try times and then reboots Eventually it will work with the initial password you entered but not until making it take an hour to turn on your computer because the login is SO poorly coded I wish I could attach a screenshot but all of this is before Windows even starts to boot Accidentally Set Dell Laptop Password Before Boot up P S I want to disable this password the SAME way I set it WITHOUT Accidentally Set Dell Laptop Password Before Boot having to take the laptop apart please Thanks in advance

A:BIOS password set by accident on Dell laptop

For the record, let's get this straight. You messed up your mother's computer, you scared she'll find out. But in no way can the come close to "Help help life and death emergency". So let's leave the drama out! You should also never post personally identifying information such as the ID and tag numbers of her machine. You have now also put her system at risk.

Quite frankly, unless you were specifically given permission to get into the BIOS as a means of repairing the operating system, you should not have entered it at all.

You can look on the follow site for help witht the BIOS problem:

I am a novice in the IT world, was getting engaged and changed my password to get into my laptop b/c I had pics of the ring. Well the password I picked is pretty good b/c I locked myself out of my laptop. I have tried everything with no luck.

I purchased Windows Password Unlocker for $50 and it is not working at all ...

So my questions are:

- Is Windows Password Unlocker crap or am I just doing something wrong?
- Are there any other options so I can be able to log into my laptop and not have to wipe it clean?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Hi,

I Purchased this Laptop few years back. Now it stopped working suddenly. Am in India right now but when i consulted the Dell Exclusive store here they say its not repairable. Kindly suggest. I never fell down nor got damaged by any external source. I wanted to get it repaired or may be send it back to recycling if possible.

A:Service Tag <ADMIN NOTE: Service tag removed per privacy policy> || DELL Inspiron 14z 5423 || Laptop Dead

We cannot assist without knowing  why the shop said it's not repairable.
How old is "a few years"?  Any system more than three years old likely isn't worth a major repair such as a replacement system board -- even if a board is available.

This is a low-end system -- if it requires a mainboard change, it's likely not worth the repair, as the shop has told you.

Hi, I work at a pawn shop, and we have a problem we have never encountered before.  This laptop, which is cleared and is now for sale in the shop, now asks for an administrator password or power on password.  It did not do this when it was brought in, nor when it was pulled from the back.  We were going to power it on for a customer, and it just started asking us for this password. I have seen in another post that you enter through it 3 times to get a code, so here is the code:61987774 Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hello,

I bought a laptop about a year ago. Shortly after buying it, we lost the password before making a backup disk. I couldn't change the password, we run Windows 7, without the old password. Luckily, or so we think, we have one of those laptops that has a fingerprint scanner so I have been able to log on using my fingerprint as a password. However, I can't believe that I am locked out of changing the passwords on this computer.

I have learned my lesson! Always back it up first! But for now, I need some help. I am also a little worried that I may have been hacked into. A friend said that if your password all of a sudden doesn't work, that is a sign of a hacker. That is what it felt like happened to me. I swear I thought I had the password right, then all of a sudden it stops working.

Thanks so much-Bill

Once the Repair is done, you will be able to log on with your new password (or without a password if you chose not to use one or if you chose not to be asked for a password). Your programs and personalized settings should remain intact.

I was handed down a g56-129wm notebook and I screwed up badly. I had changed my windows 7 password again but this time I had forgot the password. I had sent my laptop to a friends dad that told me he can reset the password using a rest password software. When the computer was restarted instead of going to the windows log in my laptop turned on with admin password or power on password screen.  Well since this laptop was given to me I have no idea what the admin password or the power on password. Please help.. When I hit the password in correctly it says system disable [91759013] I restart the laptop and once again it is asking me for the admin password or power on password. Please help

Sorry looks like the codes won't work, you will have to figure out other options or open up the system and reset the BIOS Chip manually, may be have some one open it & look into it

I'm 100% sure I'm typing the right password to log onto the admin account. This is the only admin account on this computer(Windows Vista). There is no other admin account on the computer, or I would use that one. How can I fix this? I am POSTIIVE I'm typing the password correct. Any way to bypass the password and get in the admin account so I can change the password or get rid of the password altogether?

A:password won't let us log into the admin account even though the password is right?!

This may have been asked but the server won't let me search.

When the tech guy setup up my computer he probably asked me for an admin's password. I can't remember what I told him and nothing I try works.

I'm the only user and my user account doesn't seem to have a password when I log on. But to use the admin, which someday I surely will I don't have a pw and the program says a blank won't do.

If you know of a method or program that will retrieve it I will really appreciate learning about it.

Thanks,

Bob

Hi Admin Password i dont know if anyone is going to be able to help or whether due to the nature of the Admin Password query if you Admin Password guys would be willing to help Anyway here it goes Ok i have recently started a new job IT Technician Administrator Admin Password within a local school of mine The problem that i have is that all of the admin passwords where held by the old Technician Admin and i cant find or no one that works in the school knows what the pass could possibly be We have managed to get onto the old server as the co-ordinator had an account on it so we have managed to change the admin pass on the server but there is a new server to be installed and i can not change the domain name in the network ID properties because i do not have the admin password for the clients The logons on the server do not corispond with the logins on the clients because with it being a primary school the old Tech thought we would just have a local account on the machines The reason we do not know the passwords and we can not ask the old Tech for the password as back in april he suddenly passed away anyway i was wondering if it is possible to get around this is there any software i can get that might be able to show me the admin pass or to delete it so i can this new server online that they are so eagerly awaiting for Or is the only Solution a fresh install of the OS Anyway i hope there is someone that may be able to help me with this matter Thank You Mick nbsp

A:Admin Password

I would suggest looking thru the old admin records and disks and documents most of the Admins keep records and also write down the passwords and keeps them in a special place like tapped under a drawer or some other place like that. T here are also procedures that will show passwords but not knowing if you are who you are i am kind of hesitant to give out this information, however you can Google this type of info. Perhaps you could get this thread moved to the Security Forim here at TSG and perhaps a moderator there might help you. To do this just click on the little triangle at the top right of the window and ask.

Hello, I see from previous posts that the Admin password is a taboo subject, hopefully I'm under the radar. I bought a XPHome machine 4 years ago, a friend set it up for me, I did not know anything about computers. I have searched my paperwork, the friend is no longer around to ask, and feel he would have told me to save and remember a password, but don't think there is one. Does the computer need to have a password assigned or can it be left blank? I have a feeling that no password was set, but do not know how to confirm the fact. It wouldn't bother me if no password was set, just need to know yes or no. Everything is running fine, but this is just sticking in the back of my brain, if I ever have do something with the Admin, thanks for any help.

Since it appears that you have no trouble booting the system...your query is immaterial, IMO.
