Dell Latitude E6510 will not start up

Q: Dell Latitude E6510 will not start up

I have a dell latitude e6510 that won't start up. When I push the power button, the cooling fan starts up, several of the lights on the case come on for about five seconds (hdd and power) and then the whole thing powers down.
Anyone have any ideas?
Any help greatly appreciated!

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Have you tried a hard start. Disconnect the battery and power cord. Then hold down the power button for about 30 seconds. Then try reconnecting the battery or the power plug and see if it will start. If this dose not work you might what to post your computer or laptops Model and make plus your systems specs.

Hi all, I have a big problem which I would like some help on.

About 30 minutes ago, I was playing Call of Duty 4 on my Dell Latitude E6510, then there came a small beep, the screen flickered blue/green/white (hard to explain, kind of like when you get a bad signal on your TV). Then the screen froze, the laptop was still running.

I held the power button, turning the laptop off, then when I tried to turn it on again, there was no response from the laptop.

When I press the On button, it lights up blue for 5 seconds, then goes away again. When I try to charge it with the adapter, the charging light comes on for 3 seconds, then goes away again. Nothing has worked. I've also tried to run the laptop without the battery, just on mains, and there was still the same happening.
If you need extra info, please ask .

Thanks a lot.

A:Dell Latitude E6510 won't turn on.

I actually just had the exact same thing happen to mine as well. Your description matches mine identically. When I push the power button I can see some of the smaller lights *start* to light up but then quickly go dark again, so only the power button stays on (for about 5 seconds then turns off). During this time the computer makes no sound so it's like the computer isn't even starting to turn on.

Strangely enough this is a company laptop for my job and a coworker of mine just had the same issue with his. I almost wonder if there is a defect and we all had ours from that batch. That doesn't necessarily explain why they are all going bad around the same time though... I mean I've been using mine for almost 4 months now and my coworker has been using his for about 2-3 months.

Even the scrambled signal you described is something I experienced. I wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary when it happened, just typing in bed with it on my lap. Power cord wasn't plugged in either. Any help would be appreciated!

A:No Video with Dell Latitude E6510

Hello Johan ... can you hear the sound of booting up in your dell ? If so, you have two alternatives to do.

First, if it falls within warranty, ask the vendor to replace it . And second, if the warranty is expired, you are to get a new display unit .

A:How connect a Dell Latitude E6510 laptop to the net?

The "10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet 56K v924 Internal Modem (Optional)" is actually 2 separate specs.
10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet means the laptop has a wired network card that allows the laptop to be hardwired directly to either a DSL or cable modem, or hardwired directly to a router which is in turn hardwired to a DSL or cable modem.
56K v924 Internal Modem (Optional) means the laptop can be ordered with an internal dialup modem as an option.
Your laptop also apparently comes with a wireless network card for wireless Internet connectivity.

Normally, a router is required to connect 2 separate computers to the Internet.
A standard(wired) router allows both computers to be hardwired to the router's LAN ports.
A wireless router allows both computers to be either hardwired to 2 of the router's LAN ports, or one can be hardwired and the other configured to connect wirelessly, or both can be configured to connect wirelessly(assuming both have wireless network cards).

If you already have a router configured for Internet access, then to connect a 2nd computer to the Internet, go to Windows Help, type internet in the search box, select "Set up a second internet connection", and follow the instructions.

If you do not have a router, then you need to install one. They normally come with setup instructions.

Did you recently install/reinstall the operating system? If yes, did you install the Dell System Software(if applicable) and the chipset drivers first? If not, the rest of the drivers will fail to install. How to Download and Install Drivers in the Correct Order
Windows 7/8 is supposed to provide the webcam drivers for most Dell computers. If you system needs webcam drivers, go to Drivers and Downloads enter your service tag, then select your operating system. If your system needs webcam drivers, they'll be listed under Input.
(Windows 8)How to make the webcam work with help from this youtube. You have to open the Camera app first, and then click Settings on the charm bar to see where you can give the app permission to use the webcam.
Try reading...
Troubleshooting the Dell Webcam and Dell Webcam Central Software
You can try this file, also known as Dell Webcam Central.
Create a new unrestricted user account and try the webcam. Did the webcam work?
If yes, log out and log back in to your account and try the webcam. Did the webcam work?
If no, then the webcam became detached from the motherboard, usually near the webcam

Hi donfergusonco,
I recommend you to tap the F2 or F12 key every two seconds at start up that is at Dell logo which will take you BIOS or One time Boot menu screen respectively.
If F2 or F12 does not respond, please check if the F8 key responds at Dell logo. If no success, try connecting an external keyboard and check if the ‘Function’ keys respond. Please reply with the status to assist you further.

A:Dell Latitude won't start

Hi

Sorry to be so long answering, ive been a bit busy, usual cause is faulty memory chips or ones that have just worked loose, if you have 2 chips try either in DImm1 socket and see if it works, failing that the board is going bad, do an Ebay search on the board and see what it costs to replace it.

I have a stupid Dell Latitude C600 laptop and when I try to turn it on the power light blinks repeatedly and all the other lights stay on a steady green. I can hear the fan on but nothing else comes on. I even plugged it into a monitor in case it was the LCD but I still get nothing. I took out the battery and plugged it in just from the power supply and still nothing. Could it be a dead hard drive? I looked at other threads and there was talk of Motherboard issues but non of my lights are blinking so I didn't think it could be that.
Thank you in advanced for any help

post in the correct forum next time. (mobile computing). if your mobo does not even post, then it is NOT the hard drive. you have a power issue. Either your battery is dead, the power adapter is faulty, or there is something else wrong. You should at least get a POST.

read the NO POST guide in the guides forum and the bios beep guide appropriate to your system.

Hello,

I've done some shopping for an SSD and am finding the choices/brands/reviews/advice overwhelming.

I have a Dell E6510 Win7 Pro 64bit. The current HDD is a 5400rpm model.

Through life experiences I've learned that its possible to overbuy. I need an SSD that is reliable and suited for my laptop without being more than my laptop can utilize. I don't know if my laptop is SATA II or SATA III or anything else so choosing is difficult for me.

I'm also strongly considering an SSD that would slide into my ExpressCard slot or PC Card slot to allow me to keep my HDD. I'm not sure what the difference is between the two and whether or not they would be suitable for booting.

I e-mailed OCZ for advice a few days ago but no reply.

A:Which SSD for my Dell E6510

Does that laptop have 1 or 2 drive bays and SATA adapters? If you just have one spot, you may need a large capacity SSD. How much data is currently on your hard drive?

my dell latitude d420 havent start working since its last current use. before some function keys of the keyboard did'nt work such as letter m, l, and arrow keys. until when i turn it on yesterday there's no lcd display, when i press power switch the power light indicator just light up for a short while but turn off after 3 seconds. i've been using windows xp sp3 as my OS. i have tried removing hdd and even its memory but still it doesn't start up, just a 3 seconds light on the power indicator and then it automatically shut down. i dont hear any beep/beeps when i turn on the switch.

A:dell latitude d420 unable to start up

Remove the battery and just run on the Power Adapter. See if that works, if not, then remove the HDD, start and press F2 and see if you can get into Setup (Bios). If so, then restart and press F12 and do the Dell Diagnostics. You also can remove all but one stick of RAM and download the ISO image for Memtest in my signature, burn the image to CD using IMGBurn also in my signature. Boot off of the newly created CD tests on Each stick of RAM separately. if you get any errors, Red, that stick is bad and needs to be replaced. if the computer shuts down, then this is probably a motherboard issue, probably not worth fixing due to the age of the computer since it was first released in 2007.

I have a 3 year old dell latitude d830 and everytime i turn it on the screen goes pink with a variety of thin colourful vertical lines through it. This is as far as it goes, i cannot get it to go to the regular start up screen or any other.
I know the battery is currently fried so i have to keep it plugged in for it to work, could that have anything to do with this? or is it another matter?
Thank you.

A:Dell Latitude D830 does not go further than the start up screen

Maybe u should try remove the whole battery and then plug the charger directly, if your pc turns on with the same issue, then it's not the battery.

Try to plug your laptop to an external monitor. if the display is normal on the external display then your screen is bad.
Check to see that there is no other sign of abnormality, such as after-POST beep or the activity LEDs.
I hope it should be this.

Microsoft assured me that my Windows 7 laptop (Latitude E6510) was ready to upgrade to Windows 10.  In a way, it was... but only after I upgraded did I see Dell's caution that this model was not verified to work 100% with Windows 10.
Almost everything works (sound didn't work initially, but I found a fix online that helped), but clearly new drivers are required which recognize and drive the PC Card reader, the SD card reader, and even the CD/DVD drive.  The CD drive won't even open when pressed, nor is it recognized as a drive by Windows 10.
Yes, these inputs can all be accessed via external USB drives,  but please provide new drivers, Dell.  For those with this model on the fence about upgrading, determine how much you need these built-in readers/drive!

A:Latitude E6510: Windows 10 works, but not CD/PC card/SD card reader

I've just upgraded my Latitude E6510 to windows 10. Most of the drivers refuse to run as they cant recognise W10 OS. I suggest anyone thinking of the upgrade not to at this stage. The Dell Driver downloads area warns of this.
Right now I have a non working keyboard, mouse pad, backlight. My biggest concern is the Nvidea graphics drivers wont install so I have fuzzy text with some of my programs (not all).
I am surprised MS allowed me to download W10?? I'm going to waste another day trying to fix this up or I'm going to have to reinstall W7. Very unproductive-not happy

I cannot run any diagnostics at this time.

I replaced CMOS coin battery. Perhaps damaging contacts to connector while prying them off the old battery. I flattened them out and secured with electrical tape, securely attaching the jumper style connector to the motherboard. I added 4GB RAM (kingston ddr2) per spec. I made sure the memory was securely snugged in the slot and clips working.

When I power on (with or without battery) all I see ar flashing CAPS LOCK and LOCK indicatgors. the NUM LOCK indicator is solid for about d30-40 seconds then POWERS OFF.

I get no screen and the computer does not boot.
It has Win7 Pro installed.
I am not sure how to proceed. Any help appreciated.

Hi all I know just enough to be dangerous but not enough HDD E6510 replacement even BSOD Dell after on to figure this out yet I started getting blue screens on this previously stable laptop about two weeks ago To my knowledge I had not installed any new drivers recently When I got BSOD on Dell E6510 even after HDD replacement the first BSODs in the same day I did a system restore back or days Kept getting blue screens - sometimes a day sometimes per - days No pattern Happened overnight when the computer was sitting alone Happened in the middle of VOIP meetings at work Eventvwr would open and then crash wouldn't close - just sat there and took up CPU and gave no results Read the memory dmp but it seemed pretty generic and I didn't get very far I ran Dell Diagnostics and right away it came up as bad hard drive and told me they'd send me a new one Fine Stopped working on the issue Got the hard drive which did not boot - sigh Re-partitioned re-formatted and then it worked Re-loaded everything on it last night Ran all windows updates Just got another blue screen Cry The BSOD seems pretty generic Restarts too fast for me to read it all but I think I caught quot clock interrupt quot and a pretty generic code quot x quot code I would greatly appreciate any assistance I am going to go run the more extensive memory tests since at least I know how to do that I used to build my own PCs in the last 's but since using laptops have gotten much more hardware incompetent sadly

A:BSOD on Dell E6510 even after HDD replacement

Maybe I didn't manage to get the dump file in there so here are details:
On Sun 2/10/2013 8:51:56 PM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\memory.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: Unknown (0xFFFFF88003178180)
Bugcheck code: 0x101 (0x31, 0x0, 0xFFFFF88003178180, 0x2)
Error: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT
Bug check description: This indicates that an expected clock interrupt on a secondary processor, in a multi-processor system, was not received within the allocated interval.
This appears to be a typical software driver bug and is not likely to be caused by a hardware problem. This problem might be caused by a thermal issue.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error.
Google query: CLOCK_WATCHDOG_TIMEOUT

Installed newer version of Bios. Ran Dell Diagnostics (no issues). Ran an hour of memory testing with no issues (will do more overnight). Running driver verifier. Sitting back and waiting for the next BSOD or suggestion from forum members.

Hi all. I recently acquired a Dell E6510 and this is actually my first Dell Latitude and Dell laptop- ever. I am running W8 64-bit and am wondering if Windows Update would find a compatible driver for an upgrade to 8.1 64-bit?

I am looking at the NVIDIA website and there are several variations of W7, W8, and W8.1 64-bit drivers e.g. Quadro ODE Graphics Driver, Quadro Performance Driver, Quadro Partner Certified Driver, AutoCAD Performance Driver, 3ds Max Performance Driver, Mosaic Utility, or Mercury Transmit Plug-in are all choices in a drop-down menu.

What is the difference between these drivers? Has anyone run W8.1 64-bit on an E6510? Thanks!

A:NVIDIA NVS 3100M- Which drivers apply to my Dell E6510?

id go with tge quadro ODE graphics driver.
however tbh does it need upgrading? youre not going to see a performance boost of any great calibre if you're intention is to try and play games.
the laptop is designed as a business one, so I can only assume the difference in drivers is specific to individual applications such as Autocad ect.

Joseph mate best leave as is after all it was made to function as it came. Now for the compound and copper shim personally I would not bother with the copper shim I can see no good reason for it the dual pipe again if it was made to work with one pipe then leave alone.

It is better if you renew the compound using a decent cleaner and compound and I can recommend these for that job

Arctic Silver Incorporated - ArctiClean for thorough cleaning and preparation and Arctic Silver Incorporated - Arctic Silver 5 for the compound.

Now it depends on who you listen to but I always use these products and after the old compound is thoroughly cleaned off and the surfaces prepped I spread the compound very thinly and across the both entire surface of the CPU and the heatsink with my finger inside a vinyl or latex glove and then place a rice grain sized piece of compound on the CPU and replace the heatsink. If you touch the surfaces after clean and prep then redo it.

While you are in there do make sure the fan and the radiator are really spotless and I sometimes relube the fan bearings to make sure the fan is running at full tilt when needed.

Hey guys.
Pretty much what the title says - Dell's new, recently-released ControlVault driver (version A19) does not successfully install on a Dell Latitude E6330.  I followed the driver installation order from the "Dell Business Client Re-Image 'How-To' Guide" and installed the Dell ControlVault driver last.  It did not work.
Attached is a screenshot of what I got, and the Windows Installer log.

I installed Windows 7 64-bit on my Latitude E6400. I cannot seem to find any way to install Dell Control Point. I got the Driver Pack to install. I found one download of Security Manager that worked, but I would like the Power Manager one.

I've looked on this forum a few times and any links I click on just redirect me to the Drivers and Downloads page. I get errors saying that my service pack is not supported.....I'm on Windows 7 Service Pack 1. I also got some 32-bit errors, but that's my fault for downloading the 32-bit version.

Does anybody have a link to the full Dell Control Point package (Power Manager, Connection Manager, Security Manager) that will work on 64-bit Windows 7?

Thanks

for the basics and schoolwork
and which is newer

A:which is better dell latitude e5440 or dell latiude e6430

The E6430 has a metal case and is more robust, but uses an older CPU and chipset.
The E5440 is a plainer chassis with a newer generation CPU and chipset.
The E6440 is the concurrent update to the E5440.
There are too many possible configurations to definitively say which is better -- it depends on the CPU, GPU, etc. in the specific model (or that you choose when you order one, but since the E6430 isn't a current model,  you may be looking at used systems).

I own a Dell Latitude E6430.   I am looking for a Dell Companion 12000mAh or 18000mAh type of device to power and charge my Dell Lattitude E6430 when I am traveling (no outlet available).   When I view the compatibility list for both the Dell Companion 12000mAh and the 18000mAh I don't see the Dell Latitude E6430 in either list.  I went and purchased the 12000mAh and I am attempting to use this to charge and power my Dell Latitude E6430.  It powers my Dell Laptop for about a minute and then quits.   Is there a solution for this problem?   And/or is there another Dell Companion type device that I can purchase that is listed as 100% compatible with the Dell Latitude E6430?   I would like to either get this solution working or purchase the product that is listed as 100% compatible.

Hi, I have just brought a Dell Latitude CPx back from the dead and it is working wonderfully apart from the fact that the Function (FN) keys don't 'function'.
Any ideas please?

A:Dell Latitude CPx

Humm... old.

When you say you brought it back from the dead, how so? Did you have a Dell recovery disk, or did you install an OS from a box into it? Was the keyboard okay before hand, or was it part of the reason for it being DOA originally?

The CPx series were one of those 'semi'-Dell machines, since the same notebook could be purchased in a number of liveries, including HP and Gateway (your machine looks exactly like my Solo 1400). If you loaded an operating system into it that wasn't from a recovery disk, then you probably need to download the drivers from the Dell website into it. Otherwise, the keyboad may be out of sorts, and may need replacing.

If you can find the service tag number (on Dell laptops, they tend to be on a thin white label and are only 6 to 8 digits long), you can punch it in here (http://support.dell.com/support/top...y_systems_info/details?c=us&l=en&s=gen&~tab=2) to find out what was on this beastie originally, and what can be downloaded to it.

I stumbled across your site and noticed a thread where you helped out a non-techie like me and I thought I would register and give it a shot. My daughter asked me to fix her Dell Latitude cpi which she uses for her college work. That was the easy bit it was a dodgy on/off button. Then she asked me to get it connected to the internet through her cable modem. I thought that would be easy too but I have spent hours on the internet trying to find what sort of adapter is needed because there is no direct socket connection to fit the modem. I would be eternally grateful for any help you can offer and it would make me look good in my daughter's eyes.

A:Dell Latitude XT

HERE is the Dell Lattitude XT drivers. They have Win 7 64 bit and 32 bit drivers. Select the OS bit you have.

Keep in mind the correct and required install sequence for a Dell (and many others) is (1) Install Windows (2) Install Dell Laptop System Software (3) Install motherboard chipset drivers (4) Install device drivers including video, sound, ethernet, etc.

A:Old Dell Latitude XPi - very hot

If your new hard drive is higher RPM than the old drive, then that would explain the heat. Your old drive was probably 4500 RPM, and the new one 5400 or 7200. If that is true, there's not much you can do about it short of buying a new drive.

Thats a normal problem for those keyboards. You could probably have gotten those keys working again by reseating the cable from the motherboard to the keyboard. Now it sounds like you need a new keyboard. You can probably get one from Dell or possibly find a used one from ebay. Replacements can also be found online like this.

A:Dell Latitude d400

Hi jkswimmer and welcome to Vista Forums

Sorry, but I don't recommend this. With a desktop system, then possibly. However, with laptops things are much more complicated. Power consumption and heat dissipation are the greatest concern and they are optimised for the current processor in the system. A replacement processor, if it is not identical, might have different power and thermal characteristics, in which case the system would fail to keep it within its normal working range. In addition to that, simply accessing the processor on a laptop is much more complicated than simply removing the side panel as you would on a desktop. You literally have to strip the laptop right down, being carefull not to lose the various small screws or damage the wiring and its connectors. And then, of course, you will need to repeat the procedure in reverse to reassemble it.
Personally, I would leave your laptop as it is, with one exception. To improve its performance, make sure that you have installed the maximum amount of memory that it supports (see manual for details).

When its turned on, the screen says Invalid system disk replace the disk and pres sany key. I have xp to put on but no key code for this computer. It has windows 98 on it. I dont have that disk, is that the only way? I would just like to get it back to the previous setting that worked, not in set up either as far as I see, so I can use it for games or what ever.

Thanks
Chris

A:Solved: Dell Latitude cpi

I'm pretty sure that if you don't have the original disk, you are pretty much going to have to start from scratch.

Hi, just wondering if anyone knew whether or not the Dell Active Stylus can be used with the Dell Latitude XT3.
Cheers!

A:Dell Latitude XT3 compatability

Arooke,
Unfortunately, the only systems that Active Stylus works with are listed below.
Compatibility This product is compatible with the following systems:

XPS 12 (Model 9250)
Inspiron 15 7000 Series (Model 7568)*
Venue 8 Pro (Model 5855) (Coming Soon)
Venue 10 Pro (Model 5056) (Coming Soon)

*Wake up feature not available
The Latitude XT3 uses and Electrostatic Pen. Information listed below.
Electrostatic Pen
The Latitude™ XT3 uses a specifically designed electrostatic pen or stylus for use in tablet PC mode. Instead of relying on battery power, the energy source for the stylus is magnetic energy produced by the excitation coil built into the digitizer itself. The signal from the coil is picked up by the stylus and triggers the stylus to transmit an electric field.
The transmitted electric field is sensed by a matrix of conductive lines, accurate stylus position determined using the low amplitude signals received on the vertical and horizontal conductors, and an appropriate signal is transferred to the digitizer's onboard processor.
The pen should be designed to support multiple pen tip types to provide the user with a choice in tip/screen interaction when writing.  Two basic nibs will include a hard plastic "standard" nib and a softer "felt" nib.  The nibs should be different colors to help users distinguish the two types. The pen nib can be removed without a tool.
The stylus pen kit that come with the Latitude™ XT3 contains one stylus pen, an extra pen tip, an AAAA battery and string to tie the stylus pen to the system.

Hi all I have a Dell Latitude E6320 here, it has a real dim screen.

I have tried using the hot keys to increase the brightness of the screene ( even though it looks like the back light has gone, I checked anyways)

I have replaced the screen... .still the same.

I have even replaced the cable from the mobo to the screen and the results are still the same.

I have also done a diagnostic on the graphics card etc, all seems well.

I am not sure on what else to think unless the screen bought was also dodgy.
The screen was replaced due to the original being cracked.

Im not sure what else to think, does anyone have any good ideas on what could be the issue here :S

Thanx in advance.

Dell Latitude CPi laptop. Worked fine earlier, knocked it off a monitor it was sitting on and now it doesn't work, go figure. It was off and closed when it fell. The biggest clue I have is this: When I hit the power button, the light comes on, screen stays black, but as soon as the battery charge light comes on (blinks periodically to let you know battery's charging) the light goes off. Nothing on the screen. When I try to turn it on without being plugged in, the power light blinks and screen still black. I've been working on this laptop for a while, and would like to get it working again. anyone have any ideas? I'd be happy to give any more information if needed.

You may need to download newer drivers for your graphics card that is in your laptop. It sounds like right now your computer is using the default drivers from the Windows XP Disk which may not be good enough for your video to show up from a DVD. Did you try the Dell website for the video drivers?

Or you may need to download a DVD Playback Codec. They are normally not free, but there is a player out there that they come free in which is called VLC.

My laptop connected perfectly months ago to my home wireless network. Then my son borrowed it to game on and changed settings to connect to his pc as a monitor or something. When he gave it back, i can click and see my home wireless listed, however, when I click connect it will not connect. The only way I can connect is by connecting an ethernet. I am disabled so sitting on the floor is getting hard. Can anyone help me get back to wireless again?
Yes, the wireless switch is slid on, on the side.
Yes, i have rebooted.
I have tried to restore to a previous point, however it only shows 2 recent dates....
Thanks for your help in advance.

A:Dell Latitude D630

First you need to contact that son of yours and give him a bit of your mind after he tells you what he changed.
He should come back and undo those changes.

Can you see the network name being listed in the wireless drop down?
Or any network in the drop down listing?

I have just bought a Dell Latitude LS laptop (used) and I want to upgrade the RAM. It only has 128 MB. How do I take it apart and put more RAM in and where can I get the RAM cheap? Also, would it be possible to upgrade the processor eventualy? (it has a pentiun III as of right now).

Thanks,
Jeremy

A:Dell Latitude LS Laptop Help

You can go to Dell support, enter your notebook model or identification code and navigate to replace hardware for a guide on replaceing the memory. If you go to system specs on the same site, it will tell you what kind of memory it uses and how much it will hold . .

You can also use the Memory Configuration at www.crucial.com to get the same info. Dell's do not handle cheap memory well so stick with Crucial . . price is competitive and they gurantee it will work in the notebook.

Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to upgrade processors on todays notebooks . . dammit! You can upgrade memory and hard drive but nothing else.

My friend gave his laptop to try and fix because I am pretty tech savvy, although had virtually no experience with laptops. His has the problem of not turning on, I couldn't hear the hard drive stating to spin so I took the one out of my laptop and put it in his. Nothing changed but then when I put my hard drive back, my screen wont turn on, just the lights and I cant hear the processor, or harddrive start up. nothing but the little power lights. I really need you help guys, I am selling this laptop to friend of my brother this week

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

A:Dell Latitude won't turn on

Remove the HardDrive again from your laptop (I think we are only talking about your Laptop)
Remove the Power Adaptor and Battery
Hold down the ON button for 30secs (dispersing all internal voltage)
Put the Power Adaptor back in (No HardDrive yet!)
Turn On
Does it now show a display?

If Yes. Turn it off, and put the HardDrive and Battery back in.
If No, Remove the Power Adaptor again
Disperse the internal Voltage again
Remove and reseat the Ram (sometimes blowing out any dust too)
With the Ram back in, Put the Power Adaptor back in
Turn on

Did it work?

Hello I am currently trying to hook up my dell latitude cpx to my tv to use it as my monitor. It has an S-Video out port, and my tv has RCA ports only, so i purchased a cable which is s-video to an rca connector for my video in. Well when I boot up my laptop, when i get to the welcome screen in xp, it starts to display on my tv, but then about 5 to 10 seconds after that it flickers and the picture goes away.Ive tried everything in the display settings and also enabled everything in my BOIS, with no luck, could anyone help me??

Thanks in advance!

A:Dell Latitude cpx, to tv problems

Same. I have a DELL Latitude CPxH running Windows XP and I wanted to use composite video via the S-Video port. It would display on the TV for about 20 seconds at the Welcome screen then go blank.

My solution was to switch off hardware acceleration in the Display Properties / Advanced Settings button / Troubleshooting tab. Move the slider all the way to the left. Reboot as instructed.

PS. The F8 key has no effect. Only one monitor appears in the display properties.

I have a Dell Latitude 620 laptop, running XP pro. A few months back it would not boot nor charge the battery. I assumed the problem was the battery so I bought a new battery from Dell, it installed nicely and I let it charge for about a day. Now either on battery power or with the AC connected the laptop will not boot. Upon pressing the start button, the green 'power' light comes on and the 'disk' light, (this is what I call it, it looks like a stack of platters, and is located right beside the power light) comes on very briefly, maybe 1.5 secs and then goes off. No beep, no whirr of any drive, no noise and nothing on the screen. Any suggestions? How do I troubleshoot this? Any advice at all would be most appreciated! Thanks in advance guys!

Hi all,

I have an E6400 running Vista and an E4300 running Windows 7. Both with regular HDD's, wanting to upgrade them to SSD's. I have the SSD's - a Crucial BX100 250G for the first, a 120G Toshiba for the E4300.

E6400; I have 'cloned' with EaseUS Todo Backup onto the SSD, apparently successfully, via CD caddy, but it won't boot up when I replace HDD with SSD. Just get a black screen with a cursor. Could it be just that it is thinner, so loose?

I haven't tried to do the E4300, so any tips there... also read it could be something to do with Windows 'hidden files' not being cloned?

Also wondering if Win 7 or Vista is better - been happy with 7, just got the Vista machine. If one is better, can I clone one onto both & do away with Vista, or vice versa?

A:Dell Latitude SSD upgrade

When you boot into Windows and only the cursor is visible, click 1 (one) time only CTRL+ALT+DEL, select New Task, then navigate into the Windows folder, scroll down and click on explorer.
