I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Corsair is generally considered to be a slightly more reliable brand. I personally would suggest a single 12V rail with high amperage. Do you require a modular PSU? If not, then the Corsair 650TX is cheaper than it's modular counterpart, the 650HX.

I think that for a single PowerColor HD 4850 the Corsair 550VX will be more than sufficient. However, if you're looking to keep the system more "forward compatible" (not future proof because nothing is), the Corsair 650TX should do great. I would think that the 650TX would be the best choice for CrossFire with 2 HD 4850s.

Rig crashed due to a failed PSU --> Replaced with new Corsair AX1200 and now the Win 7 Ultimate 64bit is not recognizing the 12 gb Corsair Dominators (shows only 4 gb). I've searched the forums for this issues and the common responses was - to go to BOOT Advanced Options and uncheck the maximum memory.

The Dominators are fine because they are detected by CPU ID. The MOBO is only showing 4 gb as well. I tried the 12 gb memory modules in a friends computer and it works fine! Any input is appreciated

Helo jeromesm3. Welcome to the forum.

The first thing that stands out is "failed power supply". It would not be unusual for a sudden failure to take out components with it. You should brace yourself for this possibility.

The first thing to do is run Memtest86+ - Advanced Memory Diagnostic Tool on it.
First, run the test with all RAM installed. If Memtest only sees 4GB you can quit.

Second, remove all sticks of RAM except 1 stick in the A1 (first) RAM slot, and run Memtest on it (at least 3 passes). Do this for each stick of RAM - test it in Slot A1. You are trying to determine if any of the RAM modules are damaged.

Then test one tested and known good stick in each RAM slot. You are testing to see if any of the RAM slots are damaged.

Let us know what you find.

Hey Folks! I'm planning on swapping out my Dell Dimension 3000's current power supply with a new one and I'm checking out the supplies on Best Buy's website. Can anybody recommend me a power supply that's got high wattage but nothing considered overkill? I mainly listen to music, download films (legal downloads) and watch ripped DVDs on the HDD so I'm not looking for something that'll power a small third world country. I'm no gamer so I'm just interested in a power supply that'll give me great power and last me a few years without breaking the bank.

Here's a list of power supplies I'm looking at:

A:Power Supply Recommendations (Corsair?)

You would be better off buying this one online IMO, but if you can't, then you should get the same model at Best Buy, Click here for a link to it on BB's website.

I was given a year old Corsair power supply XMPSU- TX-C I wanted to make sure it Questionable Power Corsair Supply s working right before plugging it to a motherboard So I did the paper clip power on trick and all the voltages were ok I proceeded to connect just one harddrive The harddrive spins up and then Corsair Power Supply Questionable makes a revving noise every second as if its powering down and back up repeatedly Also theres a green LED light on the harddrive that blinks normally its a solid on This doesn t happen every time I cycle the power supply however When the harddrive powers up properly the LED light is constantly on and rpm is constant I tried two other harddrive with the same outcome The problem is definitely intermittent I connected all three harddrives with the same results I tried the same setup with two other power supplies with no issues at all I am now sure the issue is specific with the Corsair power supply Is it because there s not enough load on all rails making the power supply unstable The AC current draw was only mA so it wasn t the overcurrent protection kicking in The V line was steady Corsair Power Supply Questionable but the V line fluctuated a few hundredths of a volt in unison Corsair Power Supply Questionable with the harddrive revving The V line was steady when the harddrive powers up normally I m hesitant to connect a full computer to this Anyone have an idea before I try to RMA the power supply Is this just a peculiarity of this model nbsp

I want to invest in a SDD to replace my dying westgate harddrive. I've set my mind on Corsair but I want to know the difference between the eXtreme series and the Performance series ( According to the website, X SDDs reads a little bit faster, but the P series writes a little bit faster. The only other thing is that the P series is around 100 cheaper!

So is the X series worth the extra 100?

So im planning a PSU upgrade for the future.

I have read some reviews on the Corsair HX series and also Coolermaster Silent pro Gold series. Both seem like pretty awesome PSUs only major differences I have read is rippling is lower with Corsair.

At this moment the Coolermaster Silent Pro Gold 1000W goes for $229AUD, and the HX-1050 is $265AUD online prices of course.

Anyone have any preferences between the two?

A:Thoughts? on Corsair HX-1050 vs Cooler Master Silent pro Gold 1000W

I've been using Corsair power supplies for years and have always been happy with their performance. That's a pretty good price on the Coolermaster and both are modular, tough call.

Is Corsair Force Series F60 a good choice?
Is Corsair Force Series F60 enough for,win7 ultimate 64bit + SP1+Updates+applications+games(modern games are getting bigger and bigger every day)
Attachment A is my C:/ in clean install with all my applications and updates (without the SP1 or games)i never used more than 35gb in my hard disk.(I USE THE REST SPACE FOR GAMES)
So 35gb is in use,and with SP1 i will have FREE max space up to 20-22gb,is that enough?
Attachment B is...
I install Dead Space 2 and now i have 42gb in use,i have 15-17gb with just one game installed, and again is that enough for future updates and games?
What is ur opinion?
Is there any game that use more than 20gb in hard disk?

A:Corsair Force Series F60

It's enough, though a bit cramped. There are games that use upwards of 10Gb of space, don't know of any that use 20.

Just wanted to post this in series H50 Corsair Hydro case anyone was on the fence about this cpu cooler I came into some rare Corsair Hydro series H50 extra money Been reading that Corsair Hydro series H50 this all-in-one liquid cooling solution is pretty darned good--so I bought one Corsair Hydro series H50 today About a minute install as I had to remove my motherboard Even though I haven't had a chance to put it through a good test run yet I am very impressed with the idle temps thus far I was using a Core Contact Freezer and my idle temps at stock cpu speed was depending upon room temperature The last time I tried to put an overclock to this cpu my idle temps were about idle load--again depending upon room temperature And only in non-summer months I installed this H as the instructions stated--with the fan drawing air from the outside--and I mounted the fan and radiator to the rear of the case First run--temp leveled off at idle Pretty cool But the more I had my PC on the warmer it got up to about It turns out I mounted it in the wrong spot--my case is under a desk with the rear of the case about inches from the wall--and Radeon s exhausting their hot a air right below the intake fan for the radiator So I moved the fan and radiator to a spot on the top of the case and after about an hour of relatively doing nothing watching football and running firefox--I call that idle pretty much temps never got above I'll be sure to put some numbers here when I put an overclock to the cpu I'm gonna shoot for --I could probably shoot for but I'm a scardy cat I don't want to risk burning anything up until I have some cash reserve to replace parts if anything frys

A:Corsair Hydro series H50

I'd be interested to see what you get with an overclock.
I have an i7 clocked at 4GHz and a Noctua cooler with two fans(push/pull)
My CPU idles at 45c and can go up to the 60s under heavy load.
This seems a bit hot to me so I've been looking at different cooling solutions and the H50 is interesting.
I'm using a Cooler Master ACTS 840 case which is supposedly negative pressure so I'm not sure any kind of tower HSF cooler is going to have enough air to blow through the heat sink blades.
Maybe the H50 would be better but drawing more hot air into the case seems wrong somehow.
Let us know how you get on.
best wishes, J

Could be power, overheating, or a hardware fault. You can test the PSU using Britton30's PSU Testing

Download and install the appropriate version of HWINFO: HWiNFO32 for 32-bit Windows 7 or HWiNFO64 for 64-bit Windows 7 to check hardware temperatures by running in sensor-only mode. Start logging the temperature through sensor-only mode when the computer first starts, and let it run until the computer shuts off during stress.

Save the CSV file in a place you will remember, and then compress the CSV file to a zip file and upload to here for us to analyze by following the steps in Screenshots and Files - Upload and Post in Seven Forums.

You can also run the following stress tests to check for hardware errors causing the system to fault:Use FurMark: VGA Stress Test, Graphics Card and GPU Stability Test, Burn-in Test, OpenGL Benchmark and GPU Temperature | oZone3D.Net to test the graphics card GPU. Then use the |MG| Video Memory Stress Test 1.7.116 Download to test your graphics card memory.

Run Hardware - Stress Test With Prime95 to determine any hardware problems. Run all three tests for a few hours each. If you get errors, stop the test and post back here.

Here is my new system:
CPU: i7 860
Mem: OCZ Gold DDR3 1600
VC: ATI Radeon 5870
PSU: OCZ 650watt
SDD: Intel X25-M G2
HDD: [email protected] & 500GB Western Digital Green
Cooling: Corsair H50
Fans: 2x80mm, 4x120mm
Fan controller: NZXT Sentry 2

The systems use different case and mainboard designs -- and may even be made by different companies.  The answer in all likelihood is no.
I don't think Apple has produced a Macbook with a power indicator -- the PC vendors are playing follow Apple.

A:Corsair PSU upgrade does not post, powers up 5 seconds power...

I have an addendum to add to this thread.  To refresh, my questions focused on a possible mis-match of PSU and motherboard specs:  Is it an ATX 12 Volt 2.0 and above spec problem or a Wattage cap problem?  I posted my questions to the Corsair PSU Forum concurrently and I paste here now, a response to RAM GUY.   "Hi RAM GUY,Sorry I could not reply until now.  Thank you for clarifying the difference between the ATX 2.0 spec and 2.01spec in that the Negative -5 Volt Rail is not present in the 2.01 spec andbeyond.  As I mentioned previously, the Thermaltake PSU that has beenrunning in my 2009, HP i7 Tower for the last 7 months says 12 Volt ATX 2.2on the case and even though the OEM HP power supply says 12 Volt ATX2.0 in spec literature I found on Google, the actual PSU I have does nothave any ATX spec rating on the case.  So I think it is safe to say, mymotherboard does not require the Negative -5 Volt Rail in that it playednicely with 12 Volt ATX 2.2 spec up until recently.Though theoretically there is supposed to be no limit on the amount ofWattage you can use to power your motherboard because the motherboardis suppose to use only what it needs and cap the rest, it appears that OEMscan dial up Wattage limitations if they deem necessary.  Could be as simple HP, not wanting to compete with some of it's HPsProfessional Work Stations, thereby caps Wattage on some Pavilion EliteSeries models to prevent them from becoming a much less expensivesolution. In any case, I think with all available information digested, it's not aboutATX specs, but rather my HP motherboard has a Wattage limit of 650 Wattsthough I think I read someone else got the same motherboard going with750 Watts but I don't remember where to find that posting."I am back up and running, yeah !Thank you again Lasvegaswireman !

A:Insert the compact disc labeled Windows XP Professional Series Pack 3 CD

There are a few other variables to setting up FAX on a computer. #1 do you have a Dial-Up Modem installed on your computer? If no, you can't fax. You can find out by going to Start/Run and type devmgmt.msc and press enter. In the Device Manager Do you see Dial-UP Modem as one of the Hardware Devices?
2# Do you have a Land Line phone line? If not, you cannot FAX.
#3 if you answered Yes to the first 2 questions, do you have a RJ45 phone line attached to the dial-out of the modem and attached to your wall jack phone line? If no, you can't FAX.
Lastly, to set up Faxing from Windows, you will need the XP CD. You can borrow one if you like.
I don't know how much FAXing you do, but there are a few internet FAX sites that you can FAX a document from. A good free one is

if I read the specifications right on your mobo... it implies that it has the 4 pin PCI-e input(power) but it also has the 8pin ATX power conector. (it may be simply removing a cap that is actually right next to the 4 pin connector, thus making it an 8 pin connector (thats how it was on my mobo)

Try using the 8pin power with your new PSU, see if that works.

Remove the laptops battery and try the AC power only. If the green light does the same, it still could only be a bad AC adapter, or at worst, a shorted laptop motherboard

gfx: Sapphire HD3850 512MB Ultimate (passive)

MB: MSI P35 Neo2 FIR

PSU: Seasonic M12II 500W

The motherboard has a power connector for the graphic card next to the slot.

Is there any reason I should connect the power for the card to the power connector on the board instead of directly to the power supply?

A:Graphic card power to power supply or connector on motherboard?

First time I have ever seen that feature. I like it. I'm thinking that is a neat/easy way to partially eliminate cable clutter from the PSU. Give it a shot, you can always revert to PSU cable if you wish.

Sorry I don't know the proper terms, but basically the pin inside the jack where the power cord gets plugged into on my laptop was bent so that it's really hard for me to plug in my power cord and have it stay in place. My warranty with best buy has expired, so I need to figure out how to solve this problem on my own. I can't just leave it like this because the cord comes out really easily and I can't continue to work with such a tenuous setup. Anyway, is this just a matter of replacing the entire unit inside my laptop? I know you probably need more information, but I'm not sure what to provide, so please ask any questions. The laptop is a Toshia M-45, about 3-4 years old. Thanks in advance

Hello guys.  Can anyone help me understand the power supply on the HP Envy Phoenix 860-019?  The PCIE connector 6 pin connected to the GTX 960 has black and white wires.  Shouldn't there be yellow and black wires?  Yellow is usually 12 volt and black wires ground.  Is the 6 pin connected to my GTX 960  supplying a standard 75 watts of power or something else?  I want to install a GTX 1070 but the 6 pin wire colors are not the industry standard color scheme.  Also there is a 2 pin power connector with a white and black wire.  Usually a 6 pin and a 2 pin can be used together to connect into a 8 pin socket on a GTX 1070.  Will my connectors supply the needed power and connect properly because the color scheme on the wires make no sense. Thank you

I have a Sony VGC-RB42G computer. I recently moved my computer, cleaned off all the dust, and when I plugged everything back in, it won't power up. The light on the power supply blinks green, inside the motherboard also has a green light that blinks as well. It has a ticking sound too, but I am not sure if it is coming from the power supply or the motherboard. Any idea what could be wrong.

FYI, I have already unplugged everything from the power supply, pulled out the ram, checked the battery, and put everything back together and still no change. One thing I thought was strange was after I unplugged everything, I pulled the power into the power supply again and this time the green light came on but did not blink. It stayed solid.

Hi, I just bought an HP pavilion e9300 a few week ago. And I am going to upgrade the power supply so that I can get a new graphic card--ATI 4870 which requires at least 500 watt power supply. My current computer is shipped with a 350 watt power supply. I will probably get a 650 watt considering the 70% effeciency of power supply.
However, when I talked to an HP technician, he insisted that I could go for a power supply with no more 450 watt. Because the system I just got has a motherboard which has a max power limit 450 watt. He said if I go beyond that, the motherboard will burn out.
So what shall I do? I really want to get ATI 4870 work well on my computer.
Thx very much.

A:Does power supply with higher power rating really burn motherboard?

The long answer is "No".
Just be sure of the dimensions of the power supply before you order a replacement, as HP uses some pretty strange sizes sometimes, and you want the new one to fit with room to spare.

Also does the Power Supply LED stay ON? Or did it go OUT when you pressed the power button?

Ok so lately I have been getting a BSOD at very random times and it looks like a Diver Power State failure. SO all of my friends and every website I go to makes it seem like I need to get a PSU. Right now I have a Quad Core and a 8800GT and 375W PSU. So my friend told me to get a new 700W PSU.

So, if the only fix is to get a new PSU? I tried to rollback my GPU driver but it didn't help.

So any ideas?

You're greatly risking the health of your whole computer while running with such underpowered power supply. Do yourself a favour and get a quality PSU. That's the cheapest one that is enough and of good quality that I could find with a quickish search.

Hey, got quite a problem with my laptop.. It's a Medion Erazer X7813, worked well for ~2 years.
I was doing a graphics card benchmark yesterday and it stopped in the middle of it(monitored temperature, it was at ~80 degrees Celsius when it turned off). No bluescreen or anything just off and I couldnt restart after that(no fans nothing). I thought it might be the power supply, so I tested it, but it was doing 19v when not plugged in, but when I plugged it in and unplugged it again it was at 1v. When testing I unintentionally shorted the power supply and it showed 1v after that just as it did after plugging it in, is it shorting inside the laptop? Could it be the battery or something more serious like the MB? Any ideas are welcome!

A:New power supply, no schematic, looking for power fan plug.

There are basically two voltages available to you: 5V and 12V. Doesn't really matter where you get it from - some pin on the mobo or some wire from the PSU.

From the PSU the yellow wires are 12V and red ones 5V, black is ground. The fan voltages should be written on the fan itself, the black fan wire is ground, red may be 12V or 5V depending on the fan voltage.

Fan headers on the motherboard should be labelled so, check with a voltmeter what pin gives out what.

I have a generic MB (P-120 CPU ) which I just switched to a different case and power supply. It has an extra "six pin power type connection" in the middle of the board. Only one supply that I have matchs this and the wires are three green and three black. What is the funtion of this connector, it looks from the wire colors to be some form of switch.

Its a case of not wanting to swap out the power suppy from my other unit unless necessary. I have 4 other supplies and none have the extra wire, which is listed as P10.

Many thanks in advance.

Sounds like typical extra +5V lead and can be used for any number of things...(riser cards, backplanes,to drive extra slots, etc.)

A:Power Supply Question & HD Power Consumption

Power Supply Question & HD Power Consumption, Pt. 2 - Laptop vs. 3.5"

My second question is this - I have a BTV server that needs to be on at all times during the season to record shows during day and evening.

Suffice it to say that you CANNOT reliably put one of the critters into sleep/hibernate mode and expect it to wake up and reliably record a show. It just won't happen.

Now, this is one case where I can use "Green" 3.5" drives, but I am also considering banking 500GB 7200RPM or even 5400RPM laptop drives. These will all be on a raid controller, but since they will be in pass-thru mode or RAID 0 mode the controller won't freak over TLER like it would with RAID 5/6 and mark the drives bad. The controller also has more than adequate cache to handle a 5400RPM spindle as OTA HDTV generates little more than 2.5MB per second per channel. Even 4 channels at once is 10MB/s and that should not tap the ability of a 3Ware controller with cache on 5400 RPM RAID 0 or even pass-thru drives.

My question is this - 2 500GB laptop drives burn much less startup and idle current than a single 1TB 3.5" drive. Has anyone tried running multiple laptop drives on a RAID controller, and what sort of luck have you had? What sort of sustained throuput can you obtain?

Electricity is a huge factor here, at 12 cents per KWh. I can recover the marginal cost of 2 500GB laptop drives vs. 1 1TB 3.5 drive.

Case construction and drive cages are not the issue here.

A:New Build no power-up: case's power supply or MB?

Well, I figured out the problem.
I am planning to re-do the older mini-itx system I have; it has gotten riddled with Trojan software for kids downloading games; it basically has been de-commissioned already.

So, I took the pico-psu power supply from that older computer, and hooked it up to the one I am making. Everything went perfectly.

So, I un-did that, removed the MB from case, disconnected the barrel-power connection from the case, unscrewed and removed the power supply that had been mounted in the case, put the pico-psu power supply back in place (I had to drill the hole for the barrel-connection out to be a little bigger since the pico-psu internal/external connection is threaded and held in place by nut with lock washer), and routed wires to be clear of cpu fan, screwed MB to stand-offs, and closed it all up.

now, everything is great. I like this linkworld case, but the power supply is worthless. I may try to get a few dollars back from the ebay vendor, to make me happy with a case that is less than what I should have gotten, but is working for me; I don't want to wait on returns, etc.

A:Acer Aspire AX1200 new motherboard, still won't run

All these symptons would suggest a faulty power button, any intermitant fault could be causing it to trigger a shutdown. Try giving the button a good blast from a can of compressed air, it could just be dirt trapped around the button causing it to stick.

I have 2 Acer Aspire AX1200-U1520A and they both died almost at the same time (one month apart), neither one of the machines will start, so I took the power supply to a store and they told me it was fine. How can I find out what's wrong with the compter without having to spend a fortune on diagnostics. Don't now if it is worth sending it to a place to fix it and be charged an arm and a leg and maybe be better buying a new one.

My PC suddenly shut off and wouldn't turn on, but the mouse and motherboard lights were still on. A tech took my PC and ran some tests. I assumed that either my Power supply or my Motherboard was unfunctional but he called me back telling me that it was neither, and that the problem was coming from "a part" that gave power to the motherboard. The replacement of this part would cost $80.

Am I getting ripped off? What part could possibly cost $80 and isn't the Power supply?

Hi QGamez,

I reckon a 500W wouldn't be enough but a 750W may be the right one. I had a look in a few forums and they had 650W & 750W etc but not 500W.

But wait for more input from the others and see what they have to say

Ok so i do know what the no Power and supply 100%, mobo are power problem is this is more about what i can do to use my computer until i can fix the problem Ill start off with what the problem is My computer wont turn on from the get go i knew the power supply was okay Power supply and mobo are 100%, no power because the mother board has a green light on it showing that its getting power of course just in case i tried putting a new supply in but there were no changes At first glance the mother board looked good No blown resistors or anything of that sort i sent it to a friend to check it out though once again just to be thorough and sure Finally after Power supply and mobo are 100%, no power hours of tedious searching i found the problem The chip that the power button plugs into has blown out Very happy thats all it is Now my question to all of you is is there anyway to bypass using that board so i can run my computer until i replace it if i just unplug the little board that the button is a part of the computer obviously does not turn on when i attach the computer to power and i dont know how i can trick it into turning on without having the use of the power button Any info would be greatly appreciated Thanks Ryan nbsp

A:Power supply and mobo are 100%, no power

There are some motherboards that have a power on button directly on the motherboard. I don't suppose you have one of those? There are some BIOS' that can enable the keyboard to power on the PC by pressing any key. I'm using one of them now. Of course, the problem with that is to get the PC started in the first place so you can change the BIOS setting (if it has that setting).

What motherboard do you have?

I have a Delta DPS-150GB B Power Supply out of an Apple Macintosh Power Mac computer. I would like to use it as a 12v/5A power supply for my model train layout. I have a couple important questions:

1) I need to know the pin-outs of the connectors (1-4pin, 1-14pin, 1-5pin on ribbon wire), specifically which ones control start-up and various voltage outputs.

2) Being a Switching Power Supply, I think there must be a load on at least one of the output rails. Can I create this with a simple resistor of some sort? if so, how exactly what would I need to do.

I can email photo of the connectors if that would halp. I would appreciate any help. Thanks.

What I ment was that I think calibration caused the burn-out of the board

Just view questions:
What notebook model do you have exactly?
What system are you using?
What do you mean by LAN power exactly?

I can just tell you that the cooling modules are controlled by fan table stored in the BIOS.
Usually the cooling fan starts to rotate if the CPU would be loaded by some single applications/processes. It could be also possible that your fan rotates continuously with low performance in order to keep the temperature low. This isn?t a real notebook problem.

This is now turning out to be a botheration. Would someone advise on a permanent fix?

A:Power Supply - "The AC power adapter type cannot be determined....."

You are correct, the failure is due toloss of the power supply ID signal. Sometimes this happens because of strain on the plug, which breaks the signal wire. Some even are so severe that the insulation breaks away from the plug; this is due to rough handling. The other cause is one or more of the power socket solder connections to the system board become broken. This also is related to severe handling. I have seen one case where all three power connections and three of four mechanical connections were disconnected. If the power supply is bad, a replacement will cure the problem. If not, then the socket is bad, and this will require a system board replacement. If you are experienced, you can try to resolder the connections. I am experienced and was not able to get my daughter's E6000 to work by resoldered. More recent Dells are using a replacable power connection board which is a much cheaper repair.

Call Dell - they'll send a new adapter first.  If that doesn't solve the problem, they'll replace the DC jack or the mainboard -- all under warranty.

Lately I have been having power issues. my laptop is always plugged in (power surge protecter used) i shut it off when not in use. but now even though it is using 100% AC adapter for power; the Li-ion battery is draining, and the laptop shuts off after about 15 min. i have tried to use the laptop with out the Li-ion battery and it shuts off after about 15 min. i have switched outlets and there is no change.

i do use a chill pad at all times. and i have checked all connections and everything is plugged in.

Any suggestions?

A:Have a Gateway 7500 series laptop with Power Issues

Inspect your battery, and power adapter very carefully for bent pins and contact strips. Assure best contact by bending them outward ever so slightly.
Then consider buying an official Gateway power adapter on eBay.
Power adapters fail frequently enough to distrust them. Batteries have never been as reliable as one would like.
Too much heat or too drastic a cold will ruin the power adapter or the battery. Do not leave any of them in a car during summer or winter temperatures.

I just took out a power supply from my testing PC in which I plan to trash when I take apart all the components.

Should I open the power supply? Is it safe? I heard somewhere that it is not safe to open a power supply. I know what's inside though: Rectifier and transformer.

Steps down and up - transformer?
AC to DC - rectifier?

I took out my RAM as well. Should I trash this? No one is going to use 128MB of Synchronous ram. Everyone seems to use DDR.

open your power supply why would you do that? but i think it would be safe as long as you unplug it lol

I recently purchased a computer that will not start.
As per the revcommendation,I checked all connections for loosening during shipping. i connected the unit to my keyboard monitor and mouse and power supply. When I press the switch, the LED Flickers and the cooling fans start. then everything shuts off .The seller tech rep syas it is the power supply and says to return it. could this also be a faulty switch? Please advise. Thank you

A:Power Supply

Was this a fully assembled PC or did you put it together? If it was assembled and is under warranty, then by all means return it - do not void the warranty.

My power supply just went bad on me. When I plug it in, nothing happens at all. I was wondering, could I take the plug off my existing power supply, ATX form factor, and put in on an AT power supply since I have an extra one. Would the voltages be the same?

A:Power Supply

Which plug are you referring to?
If it's the one going from power supply to wall outlet, then yes, they are interchangable.
