Preferred Solution: My internet browser stops working after a short period of time

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

This sounds kind of off the wall but have you tried cheking to see if you have anything overheating?

I'm no guru, just a granny geek, but sometimes I get caught up in compex detective work and the solution turns out to be simple.

What are your complete system specs? Have you tried updating the sound card drivers directly from Creative's support site?

Hello.

I encountered several BSODs within days of each other. I don't play games or download anything on my PC. I just use it for surfing the net and general usage (mostly Office). I also technically faced a blue screen just 2 days ago. I clicked on a folder and suddenly my monitor flickered and I saw a flash of blue before it went black.

I am using Windows 7 32 bit.

I am not very tech savvy so I would appreciate all the help I can get.

Attached are the minidump files.

Thank you very much.

As we can see a memory volume is corrupt somewhere, so lets see if we can track it down.

Can you try this please: Run Chkdsk /f /r to detect and resolve any file system structural corruption. You must restart the system before the disk scan begins on a system partition.

A:Laptop freezes after a short period of time

That model has been out for about three years? How long have you had your Inspiron 6400?

We need to know the configuration, including hard drive size, brand, free space, as well as memory installed.

It could be that the CPU cooling is too full of dust, hair, fiber, etc. to cool adequately... or that the hard drive is failing, or that you have inadequate memory. But it could simply be an infestation that needs to be cleaned out.

Have you tried re-enabling Windows Installer? Have you attempted to use MalwareBytes, SuperAntispyware, ComboFix, Windows Defender, Spy Sweeper, Spyware Doctor, or other top-flite spyware detectors and removers?

My laptop is shutting down after a short period of time.  This started about two months after installing windows 10.   I checked my settings and they are what I want so resetting them probably won't help.  I saw an answer to this problem that read as follows:   What does "remove the tick from the box next to 'On resume, display log-on screen'." mean?   I don't see a box next to 'On resume, display log-on screen' with a tick. Open windows Control Panel, open Personalization, click the Screen Saver link in the bottom right and in the following window adjust the 'Wait' time to a more acceptable figure and remove the tick from the box next to 'On resume, display log-on screen'.  Click Apply, then Ok to save this setting.

I'll cut to the chase - my computer is crashing, a lot. It seems to do it mostly when I am either 1) allowing it to idle and do nothing for more than a few seconds, or 2) performing medial tasks like writing in Word or something like that.

All of my info is attached in a zipped file.

I'm specifically focused on the three most recent crashes (Codes 3b, 24, and 1e) . There should be a lot more in there because my system seems to bug-check if I leave it idle for more than 20-30 seconds, but my computer wasn't creating .dmp files until I ran chkdsk with both options selected.

Let me know if you need any further info. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Nissan & welcome.

Analyses
Most of your dumps are including your Graphic Driver. So to really make a secure uninstall and get rid of the leftover files of the uninstallation from the Control Panel, we'll use some specific tools. The little guide below tells you what to do to uninstall and install your Nvidia-driver.

Tutorial

i) Find your driver here, save it to your desktop
ii) Download Driver sweeper, for the leftover files
iii) Uninstall your driver from the Control Panel
iv) While rebooting, go into safe-mode without internet (tip: plugout your LAN cable or disconnect wireless)
v) Run Driver Sweeper, click all the Nvidia components and analyse them
vi) Clean them all
vii) Head into Windows, without internet
viii) Install the Driver from the desktop

I have a very similar problem to this person, (http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic160500.html) except I am running Windows XP home edition.
I downloaded a file I presumed would be safe, scanned it with Mcafee before opening it and unwittingly installed Total Secure 2009.
My computer then froze up so I had to restart. On restart, I managed to scan using Mcafee and Ad-aware, Mcafee found RemAdm-Generic (C:\windows\system32\LMInit.dll), Ad-aware found a few PuP's I removed.
I then restarted again, and a new account had been created "Admin" and I couldn't open the task manager on other accounts.
I tried to run MBAM, but after 3-4ish minutes the computer logged me out, then froze on the login screen.
Anyone help out? I don't like having to restart every 3-4 minutes

Hi,

In the last week or so, my computer has lost the ability to shutdown normally.
After that, nothing will open (command prompt, task manager, etc..) but the computer is not frozen. Now, when I turn the computer on, it seems like after 10 or 15 minutes, the same thing happens.

I have used Avast! antivirus software and it found [email protected] (was marked as a rootkit) and win32:dowloader-HQR (trojan).

However, after have quarantined these problems, the computer has not been fixed.

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Hello everyone,

I have spent a lot of time looking for the solution to the problem quoted in the topic title and I know that some of you experience the same. As it appears in a couple of threads it makes it hard to post a response in each of them, so I will create a new one.
The problem usually occurs on computers running p2p programs or other software that creates many connections. The problem is a bug in ICS (internet connection sharing), you can read a discussion here :
Vista RTM can't open new socket. - MSDN Forums

If you don't want to read the whole discussion, you can just check this link containing the solution :
After you configure Internet Connection Sharing in Windows Vista, the network connection stops working after one-to-two hours

Hope it helps

Cheers

A:[Solution] Internet browsing stops working after some time (when using ICS).

I'm using IE 11  Version 11.162.10586.0 Update Version (KB3139929) in Windows 10. A few days ago when I started IE it showed right away "Internet Explorer stopped working and has to close". I have no idea what happened but since than I have
to start IE as administrator and it works. I checked Java and it seems I've installed the right version. I have reset IE but that didn't help either. I've run the IE diagnostic tool but nothing came up and since IE is part of Windows now I can't uninstall
and reinstall it. Is there anything else I could try?

I used to have this thing when I started up my PC when I clicked or more tabs on FF very soon after first opening it the net just crapped itself and wouldn't let anything net related open aside from mIRC if it was open prior to the net going down but I couldn't open a new one only fix was restarting everything related x amount for working of internet stops time If I waited like - mins after startup it never happened The internet icon never changed and the troubleshooter would everything internet related stops working for x amount of time always say it was working fine Recently it's started happening at random times no matter how long the PC has been on even if I just click a forum banner or something- everything internet related will stop working refuse to open other than my mIRC window if it was already connected but I can't PM anyone or join any new channels Usually lasts - minutes and then the FF page that froze will load and everything will work again I've also tried IE and Chome same result It's become extremely annoying now as it's very frequent and can last from as little as minutes to mins longest so far I've downloaded nothing new added no new hardware and the PC is a gaming PC that I built around a year and a bit ago I've scanned with MBAM Nod and Zone Alarm they've come up with nothing I'm really hoping someone here has an idea what's wrong because I'm very close to just reinstalling to get rid of this huge annoyance Thanks in advance for any help

A:everything internet related stops working for x amount of time

It's probably something running in the background since all browsers are affected. Try changing your AV from automatic to notifying you so you can update definitions manually. Think of other programs that are set to run in the background or since you built the unit, if your fans are sufficient since heat can cause the problem.

Hi,Im still having the same problem! This was my previous topic here:http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/ind...p;#entry1564479Basically what happens is that after 2-5 minutes of using any web browser, the pages wil stop loading even though my internet connection is still good (i can run programs like Skype and AIM)Please help. Thanks

A:Help!! Internet browser stops working after 2-5 minutes

What browser are you using, also have you tried this
Open run or click start and run command prompt as administrator
Type this into your command prompt
ipconfig /flushdns

Also if you have any addons disable them all then re-enable them one by one and you will find which one is slowing your internet connection down !

Good Luck !

A:Internet Browser Stops Working Intermittently

Ok so I have determined it is my DNS server. It goes down and I am unable to resolve any DNS. This explains why some programs work that don't use the DNS. Any tips on fixing this?Hello .Sony.,We ask that once you have posted your log and are waiting, please DO NOT "bump" your thread or make further replies until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. The reason we ask this or do not respond to your requests is because that would remove you from the active queue that Techs and Staff have access to. The malware staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response, there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. That is why I have made an edit to your last post, instead of a reply. Please do not multiple post here, as that only pushes you further down the queue and causes confusion to the staff. Please be patient. It may take a while to get a response but your log will be reviewed and answered as soon as possible.Thank you for understanding.Regards,The weatherman (Moderator)

Hi,

I'm finding that browsing the internet in Windows Vista regularly stops working. I generally use firefox for browsing (version 3.0.7), and after a variable amount time the browser (regularly) stops working (i.e. cannot browse to web sites). Once this happens none of my browsers work (IE and Safari installed too and they cannot resolve addresses).

Now here's the bizarre thing: some network related things work!

These work:
Ping (can ping numeric IP addresses as well as domain names e.g. google.com)
nslookup (can resolve IP addresses using name server)
msn messenger
ftp (ftp.gnu.org)
Skype

Also, accessing https and ftp resources through the browser also works!

However, the following don't work:
IE
Firefox
Safari
Office help (excel)
Google earth
iTunes
AVG Update
Winzip Update
Windows Update

Please help! I can't even begin to think what this may be!

Thanks for your help!

A:Internet browser stops working (Windows Vista)

Well, a top suspect would be malware. Since this is a failure only after a period of time, I can't imagine this being a firewall issue.

Try booting in Safe Mode with Networking and see if it ever happens in that environment.

A:Random Internet Drops During Specific Time Period

You should change your wireless security to WPA2 with AES encryption.

The WEP you are using now is outdated and easily hacked into and usually will not work correctly with Windows 7 drivers. This could also cause the connection problems you are seeing now.

You should also uninstall any third party A/V software on this system as they are famous for causing such as you are describing.

A:Internet wouldn't connect to certain websites for a period of time

Have you tried resetting your router/...?

This is usually achieved by inserting a paperclip into a tiny hole located on the router.....google your router model number to determine exactly where it is.

Press the paperclip end in and hold it in for approx 20 seconds...then release it and wait for the router to boot back up again

Note Be sure  you have the password for your internet a/c/router BEFORE you start.

Hello everyone,

For the second time within the past two weeks I've had quite an annoying problem regarding my left mouse button on my synaptics pointing device, all of a sudden the left mouse button will stop working. The right mouse button and the rest of the touchpad will work apart from being able to click the LMB function. I've had this happen once before quite a few months ago but thought nothing of it at the time. This occurs for around half a minute to sometimes a minute before returning to normal and being able to use the LMB. I am using a Lenovo Z580 if that is any help to anyone.

I have tried searching around the internet for any information regarding this problem but I have not been able to find any solution or information connected to my issue.

Thank you in advance!

A:Left Mouse Button - Stops working from time to time.

Hello LO mate when you click the button do you hear an audible click from inside the mouse it could be something as simple as a stuck micro switch.

Also if it is a wired one check the USB contacts too - in the plug and socket. You can clean them gently with a strip (about 5 mm with the corners rounded off) of old credit card with some lint free cloth around the end of it moistened very lightly with some alcohol

By the way just how old is the mouse?

The last 2 days i have noticed that after around 30mins or so i can no longer open files/internet/pics etc

Nothing can be opened but window tabs can be minimized and have full use of mouse and keyboard.

I cant open task manage when this happens and only a restart works.
This can only be done manually via the reset button on base unit and not via Windows restart function.

Ive run full AV scan with MSE and came back clean.

Not installed any programs within this time, the only thing that i can think of updating was Firefox 2 days ago.

many thanks for any help

A:PC freezing after short period

If you created a System Restore point prior to updating Firefox, you could use that restore point to roll back your system.

If you don't already have it, and can get on the web (or otherwise place a downloaded installer on the problem computer), you should try a full scan with Malwarebytes after allowing it to update.

A:30 day activation period cut short

When you try to boot XP a page should open with Let's Activate Windows at the top. There should be three options, Yes, let's activate Windows now over the Internet, Yes, I want to telephone a customer service representative to activate Windows, and you have already precluded the other option. Once you have a valid product code click on the option that you wish to use and it should prompt you through the process.

Where are you getting the product code from?

Hi,

my internet keeps slowing down or cutting out regularly. its not noticeable whilst browsing the internet or talking over msn etc, but when playing online games or talking with voip the connection stops for around 2-5 seconds and then works again, and it happens about once every 30 seconds. using teamspeak it tells me i have 12% packetloss, which i suppose gives an idea of the problem. connection signal is almost on full aswell.

Im using a wireless BT Homehub with a belkin wireless G receiver which was 20.

Ive only just bought the belkin receiver so i can take it back and get a different one if necessary.

also, hardwiring my internet to the router isnt really an option because of a large distance between me and the router.

i dont know if this is an internet problem or a problem with the network,

any ideas would be appreciated

thanks, ollie.

I have been having this problem for about a year now where my computer hangs for a few seconds and then resumes. During the 'freeze', I can still move my mouse, but programs stall or won't open until the freeze is 'over'. If there is a media player playing, it'll freeze and loop the audio or just crash completely. When I'm listening to music, It'll stop and then resume after the freeze. The problem never leads to BSOD or anything, but it's getting pretty annoying.

I have run chkdsk several times and there were no errors and I'm sure all of my drivers are updated.

Anyone know what the problem may be?

A:Computer hangs for a short period and then resumes

I think its a small virus causing the problem. You can check online with many brands of antivirus to see what you might have.
The virus may be taking many resources from your computer so you have this issues or perhaps its part of the problems that the virus is supposed to do.
Also, I suggest you to make a backup of your files because you never know what these kind of problems will lead to

A:Windows 10 PC Going To Sleep After Short Period Of Inactivity

I installed 10 on three machines and one has a mind of it's own when it comes to sleeping.  No matter how I set the power settings or screen savers if I get up and walk away from the machine it has gone into sleep mode when I come back.    In some respects it could be a useful thing, but since I'm not choosing for this to happen, it's a problem.
I've discovered this issue predates Windows 10 and some online posters noticed something I have been able to verify in my situation.  It you restart, boot up, or wake from sleep with the power button the system doesn't go to sleep after a brief period of idling.  If you wake it from sleep with keyboard or mouse it does go to sleep.  I think better stated would be, it returns to sleep.  This discovery explains why at times I have thought the issue had somehow been resolved. Using the power button to wake up a system is an OK work around, but not ideal.

Please help! My Windows Vista Home Premium continuously freezes after a short period of not using it. It can vary from 30 minutes to an hour or two. I do not have screen savers and turning off monitors or hard disks on.

I've checked a couple of the forum threads here, and I noticed someone helped somebody else with a similar problem (Windows freezes in idle time). I did all the actions "usasma" suggested in his post, so hopefully I can get some much appreciated assistance.

I'm uploading these files that the user "usasma" said to upload, in hopes that someone can help me fix the issue. Oh and I am using a laptop, so upgrading the hardware would be difficult for me.

Hi All,

my 2 yr old U920t laptop/tablet satellite ultrabook has poor battery life. The battery will only last a maximum of 2 hrs before requiring recharging under normal word doc/excel data entry.

Any ideas on how i can improve it?

The Toshiba pc health monitor function continually informs me that I need to replace the battery due to normal wear and tear but I thought the battery being an 'internal' item means it cant be replaced?

If anyone can offer some advice that would be great!

A:Satellite U920T - short battery working time after 2 years of usage

Hi

In my opinion there is no some kind of ?rule? or ?norm? about battery life in general. On some machines battery hold capacity for longer period of time comparing it with other notebook models.
Fact is that over time battery will lose the capacity and result will be shorter working hours.

You can try to increase working hours changing some power options and shutting off some useless background processes.
Many newer notebook models have newer design where battery cannot be removed so simply and it is placed under the bottom cover but it can be replaced too. One day when you need new one contact nearest Toshiba service provider and they can replace it for you.

This is an odd problem This has been happening for a few days now and I'm at a bit of a loss about what the problem is exactly It seems to have started after a recent Windows update but I'm not sure exactly what specific element has screwed things up for me and it may have taken a bit of time for me to notice the problem due to the nature of it I wouldn't know when to roll back my system to even if I was willing to try and I'm not at this point If I leave Windows alone for more than a few minutes it freezes This happens without fail and it's consistent Any more than five minutes give or take a minute or two and it's frozen hard and requires a hard reset Ctrl alt del doesn't work alt tab doesn't work nothing but the power button or the reset button on the case has any affect There is no error message there is no spinning wheel mouse icon the mouse pointer doesn't move It's just frozen and no input does anything The when Idle hard Windows a period. freeze for 10 short screen just has Windows 10 hard freeze when Idle for a short period. a still image of whatever was displaying when it happened and audio is also dead no system sounds or anything There was sound once but it was when I had a game running and left it too long and it was just that locked up audio buzzing sound It's a hard lockup of my system and not just the video getting stuck It also doesn't matter if something is running If I have a video or game running it still happens As long as I'm not actively inputting something with an input device such as the keyboard mouse or a gamepad it locks up If I pause a game to go get something to eat it's frozen when I come back if I'm watching a video and get up to go to the bathroom it's locked up when I get back it doesn't matter if I pause whatever it is or leave it running If I'm doing something typing playing a game or whatever it will run for hours uninterrupted No problems whatsoever I've got Fallout and I've played for several hours without any problems as long as I'm sitting there and actually playing the game It's like the PC is trying to go to sleep or go into an idle or power saving mode from a lack of input and is crashing hard as a result The problem is I've disabled everything that would do that I'm running Windows x Home edition I have an i k Gb of Ram two Radeon HD s in Xfire doesn't matter if this is on or off and my boot drive is a SSD It's not a new system and Windows has been running fine on it for several months now I've already disabled all screensavers there are no scheduled tasks or updates screwing with anything They all happen in the middle of the night and nothing is pending All my drivers are up to date caches have been cleared and everything runs fine as long as I'm there and active The usual suite of common updating software such as adobe and virus definitions are also up to date so that isn't it either I have already disabled shut downs and sleeping in the power settings Every power setting has been adjusted so that my PC never shuts down on its own and was already set that way to begin with I've double checked and everything is still set the way it should be I've already turned off Link State Power Management in all power settings That isn't it either I do have AMD's new Crimson drivers but this was happening before I installed them That's not the source of the problem I installed the new driver in the hope of maybe fixing the problem and it had no effect on it I've scanned for viruses malware and adware My system is clean My temps are fine all system monitors show a clean bill of health and no unusual activity spikes in my hardware Task Manager processes and services don't show any extra or unusual programs running Nothing is out of the ordinary when this happens outside of there being no input for a bit There are no error messages popping up at all No BSOD or indication of any problems outside of the freezing itself It just locks up suddenly and once it does no input does anything but a reset usi... A:Windows 10 hard freeze when Idle for a short period.

Hi, some thoughts and a possible temporary 'fix' to get you by for now.. while you research the many threads there are on sleep issues on the forum, and some questions that may help anyone looking at this.

First, have a look at this and see if it relates to your situation:
Solved Win 10 Unattended Sleep Timeout - Same as Vista, Win 7,8[.1] ? - Windows 10 Forums

If not fixed:
1. If you put your PC to sleep or into hibernation manually, can you resume successfully?
2. Have you tried a clean boot - what happens?
3. You can also use shellexview (freeware) to disable shell extensions (hide all MS items first, the disable the rest) and see what happens- should not need to restart to try.

Finally, to keep you going for now: try downloading and installing 'Don't Sleep' (freeware).
Running this may stop your PC going into this odd state.

A couple of months ago I had one of my graphics card 'die' Code on me you can see the thread about it here Could my graphics card have died and now my second graphics card has done the same thing - except I haven't had the same 'monitor not displaying' problems that I had with the first one I was playing Just Cause at the time of period? cards Probability with short probs graphics both a within it's not that power-hungry at all really Probability of both graphics cards with probs within a short period? and it wasn't that long into the game when the graphics went funny and crashed froze my computer Force restarting my computer I was greeted with these lines sorry for the slightly blurry image - the RAM was still counting up at the time of this picture btw I still had the Code Probability of both graphics cards with probs within a short period? under quot D Video Controller quot even after I installed the latest graphics driver sure of it and I still have it now However one thing has Probability of both graphics cards with probs within a short period? changed since the previous problem I installed a -bit Windows Home Premium still back in January - so perhaps that's why I didn't get a BSOD this time ps I have never overclocked my cards and I don't think I ever want to too risky for my liking

A:Probability of both graphics cards with probs within a short period?

It could certainly be the graphics card. I would check the monitor cables and stuff before just assuming though.

I may have found another clue. There seems to be a conflict between Yahoo chat and Yahoo Messenger I was able to get video to stream one time on my sons comp with the cheapo webcam. It was right after going to his email account, fiddling with the yahoo chat, closing something out, and then I tried to repeat the sequence and am doing something wrong. uugh

Anyway this is a brand new APU build I've only had the computer for a few days now anytime I try and play Dayz for STOP any while for period, playing BSOD long/short game 0xA0000001 example after a good amount of time it will just BSOD on me after a restart and lets say you try and launch the game again BSOD while playing any game for long/short period, STOP 0xA0000001 it will BSOD during the loading process If you try and run lets say two games at once it'll BSOD after a little while I have a strong feeling it's a heat issue with the stock heatsink and I have a evo coming Monday so I would hope that would be the cause but to make sure I rather ask some other people I know for a fact this stock heatsink isn't able to cool this chip because you can check Core Temp or Speecy and the chip is at around C which of course you panic and kind of lay off of it for a little bit a few days ago I actually believe it hit C before I shut the computer down That's way too hot so I do believe the majority of these BSOD are heat related but it could be heat and driver related possibly as well Anyway here are my computer specifications as well Motherboard GA-F A XM-D H Memory GB x GB CORSAIR Vengeance Mhz CPU AMD A - GFX Radeon D Hard drive GB Seagate RPM PSU OCZ Fatal ty W Currently chip temp with just the internet browser open is literally C I think these BSOD are heat related What do you think I am pretty certain lol I have included the ZIP of the dump files and such as stated per sticky thread

A:Blue screen quickly flashes and restarts after short period of booting

First you need to stop the restarts so you can read the BSOD.

Turn off auto restart - right click my computer, properties, left click advanced, and in the startup and recovery section left click the settings button and uncheck the box 'automatically restart'... next time it will blue screen properly, then you make a note of the exact message and post it here.

Second, since the hd's use 2 different controllers, the mobo isn't a prime suspect (new you say?).

Check your temps and voltages during any period where it stays on for a bit.

Check that the cpu heatsink is secure (socket 775 stock units can be hard to seat).

Hi,I am deeply annoyed by an issue that has plagued this goddamn laptop since I bought it.My audio works normally for a few days, and then suddenly it stops working after a few days.I have the Bang and Olufsen speakers. I have reinstalled the drivers from the Realtek website a few times but this goddamn problem comes back, and drives me nuts. I can't tell you how much I hate this laptop, it came with this horrible windows 10 OS, and I can't tellyou how much I hate both windows 10 and this goddamn laptop which is plagued by so many issues, that I only bought it because I had no better options. The red X on the speaker volume means the goddamn thing has stopped working again andsays no audio driver is installed.HP and windows suck.

I think it all started when I tried to install TopoUSA V 4 to my computer. After that, when I go to MSConfig, I find that it is in "selective startup" mode. I have been able to manually start all services and startup items, but when I click on "normal startup" I get the message that "MSConfig has stopped working"

I'm able to start my computer just fine and it's working as I expect, but MSConfig is broken.

This is a strange problem. About every other time I turn on my computer it cannot connect to the internet. It goes like this: 1. Turn on computer2. Unlock Bitlocker3. Windows 10 Loads up4. Computer does not automaticlly connect to internet5. I click on the lower right hand wifi icon6. All wireless connections in the area show up but if I click connect nothing happens.7. If I click out of the wifi list and click back into it (by clicking again on the wifi icon) all the wifi signals are gone.8. If I reset the computer everything works and the internet connects I'm on a T450s, Windows 10. This problem happens whether or not I am at home, at work, or at Starbucks. It is a very annoying problem becuase I have to reset my computer every other time I want to use the internet. Any thoughts? Thanks!

So I have a Xonar Essence STX with a turtle beach X12 headset hooked up all in the back. It seems that the microphone stops working after the computer has been on for some time. It seems pretty random. If I leave my computer and come back a few hours later. I can only seem to get it to work if I restart my PC! I can still hear that the microphone works, because I hear myself through the headset, but I can't record and nobody can hear me. I've tried multiple things, but the only thing that works is a fresh restart. Plz any ideas? I've updated to the latest drivers, messed with control panel settings. Went into the Xonar menu and tried switching the front panel microphone. Still Nothing. It's like something gets shut off and the only thing to turn it back on is the restart.

Hello,

This has been happening for a good few days now. Every time I open up a web browser (any web browser), it works fine, but it will stop working after 5-10 minutes. By not working, I mean it will not load any pages I try to access. However, my internet connection appears to be fine as I can play World of Warcraft and use Skype as well as AIM normally at any time of day. I'm really hoping to find a solution to this soon, as it's a royal pain.

Thanks so much!

A:Web Browser stops working after 5-10 minutes?

Please post your Computer model and operating system. What errors or messages when you get disconnected? Are you connecting by wired or wireless? What browser have you tried in checking the problem? What protection software/firewall are installed?

Hello and welcome to BleepingComputer. Looking over your log, it seems you don't have any evidence of an anti-virus software.Anti-virus software are programs that detect, cleanse, and erase harmful virus files on a computer, Web server, or network. Unchecked, virus files can unintentionally be forwarded to others, including trading partners and thereby spreading infection. Because new viruses regularly emerge, anti-virus software should be updated frequently. Anti-virus software can scan the computer memory and disk drives for malicious code. They can alert the user if a virus is present, and will clean, delete (or quarantine) infected files or directories. Please download a free anti-virus software from one these excellent vendors NOW: 1) Antivir PersonalEdition Classic - Free anti-virus software for Windows. Detects and removes more than 50,000 viruses. Free support. 2) avast! 4 Home Edition - Anti-virus program for Windows. The home edition is freeware for noncommercial users. 3) AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition - Free edition of the AVG anti-virus program for Windows.Setup / installation guide for Avast! 4 Home Edition.Setup / installation guide for AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. It is strongly recommended that you run only one antivirus program at a time. Having more than one antivirus program active in memory uses additional resources and can result in program conflicts and false virus alerts. If you choose to install more than one antivirus program on your computer, then only one of them should be active in memory at a time.------While TeaTimer is an excellent tool for the prevention of spyware, it can sometimes prevent HijackThis from fixing certain things. Please disable TeaTimer for now until you are clean. TeaTimer can be re-activated once we're finished.Open Spybot Search & Destroy. In the Mode menu click "Advanced mode" if not already selected.Choose "Yes" at the Warning prompt.Expand the "Tools" menu.Click "Resident".Uncheck the "Resident "TeaTimer" (Protection of overall system settings) active." box.In the File menu click "Exit" to exit Spybot Search & Destroy. When disabled, please download ResetTeaTimer.bat.Double-click ResetTeaTimer.bat to remove all entries set by TeaTimer. This is done so it can be re-enabled without problems after cleaning.------Finally......Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2Double-click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish. If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version. If you have trouble with the update process, please download the latest updates here.Double-click the mbam-rules.exe file on your desktop and let it update the application.Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Full Scan", then click Scan. The scan may take some time to finish, so please be patient. When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart. (see extra note)The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Please copy and paste the entire report in your next reply along with a fresh HijackThis log. Extra note:If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process, if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

Once the setup is complete you will need run AVG Anti-Spyware and update the definition files.3. On the main screen select the icon "Update" then select the "Update now" link.o Next select the "Start Update" button. Over the last week or so, my Firefox stops working within twenty seconds of me starting it. It just says "Firefox has stopped working" and I'm forced to close the browser. Windows "searches for a solution" and all it comes up with is that "a problem" forced Firefox to close. There's nothing specific to go on. Then when I close the program and try starting Firefox again, everything's fine. It's just the first attempt that goes haywire.

I'm wondering if this might have something to do with Windows Vista, because I've only been using this OS for a few months and I never had a problem with XP. Help!

So here's the deal. I've successfully set up a wireless network here at the house. My computer is hardwired to the connection, and my laptop works flawlessly with it. Router is a D-link DIR-655. Broadband is Roadrunner cable.

Then there's my mother's pc. We bought her a D-link DWA-130 wireless adapter, which seems to be working fine. Problem is, she will start browsing in IE, and after a little while it just stops reaching the servers. When she tells me it's not connecting, I check and the wireless connection is still excellent. Firefox won't connect at all for some reason. Rebooting seems to get things working again in IE, but after 20-30 minutes max, it stops.

Any ideas? She's contemplating buying a new computer / getting another cable connection just so that she can have a reliable connection...Which I tell her is absurd.

I once posted with all the logs required but I got no replies and decided to try and fix things myself. I've gotten rid of almost all my issues but I have just two left. My audio is not working but whenever windows loads up the windows sound does work.

Internet Explorer and Firefox both crash all the time on normal windows mode but not on safe mode with networking.

My computer refuses to load once in a while and goes to boot but mostly all is now good.

I have gone through all the steps help and support for audio issues except going to bios.

Any clue what could be the issue?

Hello and Welcome to TSF.

We no longer use HijackThis as our initial analysis tool. It is simply not detailed enough for today's infections.

We want all our members to perform the steps outlined in the link I'll give you below, before posting for assistance. There's a sticky at the top of this forum, and a
Quote:

Having problems with spyware and pop-ups? First Steps

link at the top of each page.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Please follow our pre-posting process outlined here:

http://www.techsupportforum.com/f50/...lp-305963.html

After running through all the steps, you shall have a proper set of logs. Please post them in a new topic, as this one shall be closed.

If you have trouble with one of the steps, simply move on to the next one, and make note of it in your reply.

Please note that the Virus/Trojan/Spyware Help forum is extremely busy, and it may take a while to receive a reply.

A:Internet Browser stops navigating, Requires Restart

Threat Neutralized.

I installed Zone Alarm and discovered that the notorious "SkypeNames.exe" (newly discovered) ~virus was the cause of the issue posted above. Upon being rudely disconnected from the world wide web once more "and for the last time", I immediately referenced the Zone Alarm grid to see what was the matter. Sure enough right under Firefox.exe was SkypeNames.exe accessing the network. After removal all reverted back to normal.

I recently tried doing a scan of my computer using Microsoft Security Essentials, but every time, it stopped when it came up to WMPLAYER.EXE, when there was clearly still some way to go for the scan to be completed. Following Microsoft HELP tab, I was directed to FILE.NET who recommended a scan for 'system related errors'. I would appreciate your views on this problem. Cheers.
