I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi All I have Zone Alarm Pro as my firewall and Norton Internet Security Suite or Norton Security Alarm Zone Suite as my Anti virus I probably should update my anti virus but was thinking about purchasing the Zone Alarm Security Suite and then add a spyware program The one thing I do have trouble dealing with using Zone Alarm Pro is that I use a VPN to login to my employer s client systems different IPs depending on the client s sites I can t have Zone Alarm Pro up and running when I login I m a bit of a newbie when it comes to firewalls and because I m a contractor I Zone Alarm Security Suite or Norton Internet Security Suite do not receive much help from the employer so not sure if Norton Security Suite would be a little more user friendly when it comes to adding IPs that I login to Any opinions on ZA or Norton SS would be greatly appreciated as well as any input with using VPN with firewalls Thanks in advance MB nbsp

I woul keep Zone Alarm Pro. Was posted someplace thatwith Zone Alarm Security Suite so of the options of Zone Alarm Pro are not the same so that Zone Alarm Pro alone is better.

Here is a link. Bet it is something you need to setup up right.

Dear friends

Could you help me figure out why it is that I have trouble browsing in high speed despite the fact that the wireless adapter receives data at 1 Mbps minimum? I haven't been able to watch videos on Youtube, read the news etc because the browser takes ages to load the full page. I checked which applications are connected and they haven't exchanged much data as you can see below:

Excuse my English!

Thank you.

I have a personal computer that I need an antivirus and firewall for. Mainly because I have ports 80 and 21 open. I have these open because I run my own personal server. I need to know which one of these is better for use on my server, and which one is better for my personal computer. Which one would make my server more secure?

NOTE - My server only needs a firewall, not an AV. My personal computer needs an AV.

A:PC-cillin Internet Security 2005 vs. Zonealarm Security Suite

For personal computers, my favorite, and actual, combination is Zone Alarm Pro Firewall, and Norton Antivirus 2005. Norton Firewall is probably pretty good, but I don't like the notification interface and I get the feeling it doesn't tell me everything, so definitely I say Zone Alarm's Pro firewall is the way to go...and Zone Alarm's Suite that includes the anti-virus, I got the feeling it was a little weak in interface and ability....but for servers...I'm not so sure if I would recommend the same thing, or something more heavy duty and specially designed for servers, I just don't know...

EDIT: PC-Cillin is a piece of crap...I didn't like it at all! The spyware feature was barebones at most, and it was just crappy all around....you should download some trials of these things and see which one you personally like best, becuase PC-Cillin, Norton, and Zone Alarm all seem to get pretty much the same ratings by magazines, etc.

I have wireless internet through my cable provider. My signal strenght varies from 5 to 48 mbps on most days. Why isn't the signal consistent and what causes my internet to get so slow. Is there anything I can do...call my cable provider?

A:High speed internet not so high speed

"call my cable provider?"

No. You are mixing up some terms, but it doesn't sound like this is an ISP problem.

For now I'm going to assume that you have cable internet service and a wireless router. If not, please describe. If so, please post the brand and model of your modem and router (or modem/router combo).

Wireless signal strength is usually given in terms of "n bars out of 5" or "good," "excellent," etc. What is yours, and does it vary? How close is the PC to the router, and what obstructions are in the way?

When your bandwidth varies from 5 to 48mbps it could be an adapter or driver or router problem, but more likely is wireless interference. Are there other wireless networks on your same (or close) channel?

Some people first just try changing channels (in North America the non interfering channels are 1, 6 and 11) without trouble shooting to see if that helps.

If you are having difficulty determining the channels of the networks you detect use NetStumbler for help: www.netstumbler.com

I currently have the Norton product installed on my system. The subscription will run out in about a week. Time Warner offeres the EZ Armour suite at no charge for customers. Is there any major technical or quality reasons to not switch to the EZ Armour?

Also, if I do switch, are there any suggestions for fully removing the Norton Product? I have heard that this can be somewhat difficult.

A:Best Internet Security Suite?

Although I personally hate these kinds of programs (they do more damage to the computer than the virus, as they slow it down - just my opinion!), my father runs Kaspersky on his machine. In my opinion, it's the best.

Kaspersky seems very popular as well in general. Avoid Norton like the plague - that really is a performance killer, and from my experience it misses a lot of stuff (I recommended my father to get Kaspersky and get rid of norton). NOD32 is also worth a look into, although I'm not sure that comes with a firewall.

But yeah, Kaspersky is the best in my opinion. Just up the "scan level" to high otherwise it misses stuff (I was getting fed up of Kaspersky as it wasn't finding a virus I knew was on the machine - until I upped the setting). Kaspersky isn't too much of a performance hog either (you'll notice it, but it won't make your computer unusable like norton does). Read reviews on the net and you'll find Kaspersky is the most popular.

The program has Anti Spam. I use Outlook express for Email. When I select the anti spam in box I get a pop up box with the new spam messages. The info says select the messages you wish and click ok and they will be moved to your inbox. It does do that. If I de select the messages and click cancel it opens the messages in the anti spam box. I do not want to read those but I can't find any way to send the messages to Quarantine without opening them. How can I solve this problem?

Hi, I've just installed CA Internet Security Suite Plus on my computer - I used to have it on there and was very happy with it, but my computer died a while ago and the lady who fixed it put a new security suite on there that I didn't like, hence me reinstalling CA. Anyway, I'm having a problem with the parental controls - I used to be able to choose what kind of sites were blocked (like porn, violence, etc) but I can't seem to find where to do it now. I now can't get onto most of the sites that I usually use, because it keeps blocking me! (I'm not looking at dodgy sites!) Also, when I try to override the block, it tells me the password is incorrect, when I know it's the right one as I just set it! HELP!!!

A:internet security suite

There aren't any good suites. They all have limits, and provide a false sense of security.
A good AV program, Windows defender, and the immunize feature found in Spybot S & D should be all most people need.
I run Ad Aware occasionally, as well, but it's never found anything important.

I recently won 'CA Internet Security Suite' from a contest sponsered by them that shall remain blameless.
I was wondering about it. Any thoughts, advice, warnings?
I've installed it and, so far, it seems to do what it's supposed to do, as far as I can tell.
All I get, now and again, is a system tray pop-up telling me my download was cool and asking if I want a full system scan, which takes a while.
And it told me, on the install, to de-activate my ALL my anti-malware thingies which I did, with reservations.

A:CA Internet Security Suite

I'm not an advocate of suites. All-in-one tools and suites generally use more system resources than separate programs that do the same task. They tend to have varying degrees of strengths and weaknesses for each feature. In contrast, separate tools are designed, built and maintained with a greater focus in a specific area so they are generally of better quality and more effective at what they are designed to do. This means the program's performance for that particular feature is usually superior than their all-in-one counterpart. Further, all-in-one tools generally do not allow the user as much flexibility in tailoring default settings and usage.

However, when it's free, there's no harm in giving it a test drive.

Right now I have in my PC the CA antivirus, the Malewarebytes' Anti-malware and the Sunbelt firewall. I've been told that this is not necesary cause I have an Internet Security Suite. What is that? Is that an application, a concept? This was the first time that I heard this expression. How can I see it in my PC? Can I configurate it? Is it true that I don't need further protection besides this Internet Security Suite?

Thanks

A:Internet Security Suite

Hi an internet security suite means that you have an Antivirus program,Anti-spyware,anti-spam and a firewall built in to the program.
It is called a suite because it contains all components.
You can configure all components of it by opening the application and looking at the settings.

Hope that helps.

Hello.

I just recently switched over from cable modem to AT&T DSL at home. The DSL is a little faster, so I'm pleased with the decision.

With the AT&T DSL Extreme, I get a free subscription to the AT&T Internet Security Suite. I've installed it, and have been using it for the past few days. Seems to be alright. Has anyone else had any good or bad experiences with this application?

Is there something else you would recommend that is better in protecting my PC from virus, spyware, malware, and whatever else may be out there?

Thanks in advance!!!

doctor, windows defender and the windows firewall. should i switch to macafee internet
security suite. thank you

A:internet security suite

I do recommend people to have Internet Security Suites but not McAfee.it is because,McAfee is a resource hog and very much hogs on RAM.Besides,it has poor detection rates. Also, like Norton,it does not completely uninstall itself and leaves behind innumerable potential remnants. For Internet Security Suite,I recommend only two. They are:-

1)BitDefender
2)Kaspersky Internet Security Suite

Both have excellent detection rates and considerable prices.Besides, both are very light on resources. If you want a clear view on best Internet Security Suite, read the below excerpt. It was submitted by a user named Broledh in another forum:-
I have seen and tested many Antivirus programs and liked AVG Antivirus because it has a fairly high detection rate. But this was NOT the best. After downloading a few programs and staying vulnerable for many weeks on the net,I got infected with innumerable number of worms, trojans and spywares.I scanned with AVG and came to a conclusion that AVG was the best but this was not until I got reinfected.I was desperate to know the cause because I couldn't afford to become infected and search for a cure.I found the answer to this soon.It was not only necessary to have an Antivirus program but was also necessary to have a firewall,an Antispyware,an Antispam, etc. protection to be completely safe on the net. Now,the search for the best Internet Security Suite began.....

I tested almost every Internet Security Suite on the net including TrendMicro,Zone Alarm,McAfee,Panda Titanium, etc. but found the two REAL Internet Security Suite martyrs. They were BitDefender and Kaspersky Internet Security Suite. Both detected almost 100% of the trojans and worms on my computer which the other came to fail across. Moreover,I was never infected when using these both products. They have their own advantages.First of all, both have a high detection and protection rate. Both have a considerable price for their protection as compared to the other bulky softwares that charge you to death and just give you an eye-candy.Both have a real-time protection but unlike other suites,do not hog on RAM.Both are resource friendly and work only according to your will. They are REALLY a complete Internet Security Suite.

As for the worst Internet Security Suites I have come across, they are McAfee and Norton. Both SUCK.McAfee hogs on RAM and once you install it on your computer,it will take ages for it to load. Moreover,it randomly scans parts of your computer in the background without your knowledge and also runs hidden security processes detecting nothing.Very low detection rate and can be easily exploited! In short,it's a security program acting like a spyware!Worse is Norton. It's a virus itself in the name of a security program. Many people trust Norton but do not know the truth.Norton uses a wicked strategy to stay in the market and that is to create it's own viruses! It then embeds them within their user's computers, asks you to update the program and in the next scan detects them and delete them. What shame! Moreover, like McAfee,it hogs on RAM and has the lowest detection rate.I would never use any of the programs even if someone paid me!Click to expand...

Hope you get to mean what I say.Good Luck.

I use both, with freeware products:

I have Microsoft Security Essentials (MSE - Microsoft Security Essentials | Protect against viruses, spyware, and other malware ) and IOBit360 - Security 360 | Free Anti-Malware | Free Trojan Remover with the "Passive Defense" turned on (Tools > Passive Defense).

I also use WinPatrol to alert me to any changes that are attempted on the system (BillP Studios Download Page)

(What you use is really a matter of preference in most cases. You will find a lot of discussion here about what is better/best.)

Cleaning up a older computer for a friends children.
Has older version of the security suite on it.
I normally use avg free, zone alarm, malwarebytes, spybot and a few others and never have a problem
I am not familiar with cox's suite.Should i try and update the suite to newest software update or uninstall it,
and use what i normally use? If i uninstall it i know i will have to get her cox e-mail address and password.
I tried to do a virus update since its been months since it was done but for some reason its not doing its thing.
I have cox myself.Thought with children being on computer maybe the parental controls would be of use.
So far I hate the darn thing! any thoughts appreciated! Computer has xp home.

I must have been confused for a while I was reviewing the posts and seen the two recommendations from jgweed and brunt. Sorry I missed them. I went to the suggested DSL Report site and tested there. Then took Brunts suggestion. My initial Download Speed was 455 kbps and upload 128 or so. My second after doing the ipconfg was 465 kbps and 130 kbps. It seems alot better. Thanks for your help. By the way brunt I had alot of spare time today. Check out Skeet Shooter.

type ipconfig enter
ipconfig/all enter

ipconfig/renew enter

Somtimes that will speed you up a little! And also changing your workgroup name to somthing else

I live 6 months in Florida and 6 months in Wisconsin. I currently use dial up for my internet service. Dial up seems to be getting less and less efficient. I have been exploring high speed. The only options I have in Florida are sattelite and cable. The only options I have in Wisconsin are sattelite and DSL. The most desirable situation would be to use the same Internet Service Provider in both states. That limits me to Sattelite.
In researching Sattelite (i.e. Hughes or Wild Blue), I found a very high percentage of disatisfied users of Sattelite. I'm wondering if anyone out there has any information or experience with the use of high speed Sattelite internet service. Or maybe, I should just stay with dial up.

Help please. I do not have high speed available through my phone or cable company however just around the corner, about 1 1/4 miles away, there is a different phone and cable company (windstream) that does have high speed. Does anyone have any ideas how I might be able to get service from the windstream telephone poles to my location. Thanks Rod

I have had a home computer for almost 3 1/2 years & have always had dial-up.
I'm considering upgrading to high-speed internet. Dial-up seems to handle
the downloading of music reasonably well but video is something else. I'm
kind of partial to music videos & would like to be able to see the ones on
YouTube but with dial-up that's not gonna happen.

My cable TV provider is Cox Communications. They offer high-speed internet.
I currently use Earthlink as my internet provider.

Any suggestions/recommendations? Money is not really the #1 priority.
I don't mind paying a few bucks extra every month to get good service.

THX.

Hi, I had problems with my computer starting after a Norton update restarted when I chose not to restart. I uninstalled Norton with the Norton Removal Tool. It has the same problem of not wanting to completely reboot without restoring the computer to an earlier date. I tried to reinstall Norton and it said it can't install it because there was one running already yet i removed it. Is there some way to stop the one they say is running so I can reinstall Norton Security.

My ISP has recently notified me I can no longer use Freedom Internet Security which was provided free before. They are instead offering CA Internet Security Suite. They don't say how many PCs I can install it on (I have four).

I have heard all sorts of good things about AVG Free, but know nothing about CA Internet Security Suite. I am concerned with how many viruses it actually detects and removes (without telling me to buy something else)? Memory footprint and effect on system performance? Annoying popups everytime it detects a cookie? Which is better?

(Note: I am not interested in your thoughts on any other antivirus products, just these two).

Hi People

Can anyone give me advice on the above subject please, I don't like Norton and I've just finished with my Mcafee All In One which I thought was alright. I've heard Kaspersky is supposed to be good but I just don't know what to go for. I want something different but it has to be a full suite that doesn't hog my computer. I don't like loads of seperate packages so any info or advice would be great.

I have an old laptop that has the CA Security Suite with parental controls on it.  I'm in the process of updating it for general use, problem is that I forgot the password to the parental controls and obviously CA is not around anymore.  I used the "forgot password" link but it says unable to send email.

Is there a way to remove this in its entirety?

Thanks in advance.

If your computer doesn't have firewall and antivirus protection, you risk exposing it and personal information to all manner of malware. You owe it to yourself and the online community at large to install security. Comodo Internet Security 4.0 offers free firewall and antivirus protection, along with a budding "Social Authentication" browser toolbar. Overall, Comdo's protection is quirky, but the effectiveness of the components is consistent.

Hello all.

I am looking to buy an internet security suite that is suitable for Windows 10 64 bit. Ideally, it would be feature rich and not overly dependant on the cloud but my priority is security. I do not mind configuring the suite but I would rather not be in the situation where a misconfiguration has a significant impact on security.

I am interested in Kaspersky but I understand that it had issues with both Windows 10 and 64 bit operating systems. Is this still the case?

Please post any recommendations you may have.

Thanks.

A:Internet Security Suite for Windows 10

You cant go wrong with Kaspersky, it is a rock solid security suite.
About the Windows 10 (64 bits) problems, almost all security software has limitations, but the others vendors simple dont disclosure.

I know that Emsisoft has little to none limitations in 64 bits, it could be a good choice for you too.

I'm definitely not computer savvy. I just purchased a Toshiba Satellite A215 - with a Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit operating system. I do a lot of Internet surfing via wireless network and want to have the best protection for my new computer. I've been doing research on Internet Security Suites and I'm completely frustrated and confused. From what I can tell, it seems BitDefender has the best reviews. However, I need something that is easy to configure because I really don't know what I'm doing.

Also, I only have one computer so I don't want to purchase the 3 computers, 2 year packages. From what I can tell, I can download a 1 computer, 1 year package from BitDefender.com but I'm wondering if it's safe to go on the Internet without any protection to get this download?

Thanks in advance for your advice!

It seem like after uninstalling ZA ISS, my computer seem to be stable as I kept having BSOD recently.

Should I try to install the ZA ISS again and test it out, or to play safe, get another Internet Suite?

I am worried that what if I gotten the new Internet Security Suite and it happen again.

Or, should I try to redo my entire Window 7.

Is McAfee Internet Security Suite a good antivirus software? It came with my new laptop. Is this software enough or should I download third party security software?

A:McAfee Internet Security Suite

How to uninstall or reinstall supported McAfee products using the Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR)
Affected Operating Systems: Includes Microsoft Windows 8

If this is a NEW computer, then all you have is a Sample version ........
Windows 8 has an Antivirus program Pre-installed, so this is not required.
Usually you remove this and replace it with your own choice of a paid version Antivirus, or just use the default Windows Defender program. Free versions are not required.
If you decide to keep McAfee longer than 3 months, you are usually charged for it.

Follow steps 1 and 2 to fully remove the program from your computer -
1.Uninstall your McAfee home user products using Add/Remove Programs in the Windows Control Panel:
Windows 8 Users
a.Close all McAfee program windows.
b.In the Start screen, type Programs and Features. (If it is not visible, click Settings in the list on the right.)
c.Click Programs and Features in the list on the left.
d.Select McAfee SecurityCenter.
e.Click Uninstall and follow any on-screen prompts.

2.Download and run the McAfee Consumer Product Removal (MCPR) tool:

a.Download the MCPR tool from: http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe and save it to a folder on your computer (or to Desktop).IMPORTANT: The MCPR tool is updated periodically when new products and updates are released. Always download a new copy of the MCPR tool before using it to uninstall your product.
b.Navigate to where you saved the file, and double-click MCPR.exe. Windows 7 and 8 users Right click on the tool and select Run as Administrator -
c.When you see the User Account Control dialog box, click Yes.
d.At the McAfee Software Removal screen, click Next.
e.At the End User License Agreement (EULA) dialog box, click Next to accept the agreement.
f.When prompted, type the Captcha information, which is case sensitive, to validate to application security, and then click Next.
g.When you see the message CleanUp Successful, restart your computer.
NOTE : Your McAfee product will not be fully removed until after the restart.

If you have any other questions or problems, please post back -

I just signed up with RoadRunner and they have the CA Internet Security Suite 2007 for free.
I currently use AVG--but takes forever to scan & I cannot really do anything else while it is scanning; Zone Alarm, SpyBuster

Should I download the Roadrunner software? How often should I run a scan of my system?

Thanks

A:CA Internet Security Suite 2007

I have Roadrunner cable (in Los Angeles, CA area) and recently tried their free CA software with the following issues:
- Every time I opened MS Outlook and then closed it, Outlook.exe remained open in Task Manager. The result was 15 or more instances of OUTLOOK.EXE running concurrently (more if I let it go until I noticed it).
- My cookies were automatically deleted every so many minutes. Meaning everytime I logged on to this site (or any other sire that requires a username and password, I had to enter it again despite any other settings to the contrary). I didn't see any option to change that annoying problem.
- There was noticable lag when opening my Outlook email and Internet Explorer. Once opened they worked normally, but the lag when opening them was noticable despite having cable internet, an AMD 64X 3800 with 2GB RAM.

I don't know if CA was good as an antivirus/antispyware suite as I only kept it installed for about two weeks until I decided I didn't want it anymore. I have since been using AVG Free Antivirus with no problems.

I have Verizon Internet Security Suite, and after having so many problems with it, I am deciding to uninstall it. I cannot uninstall it because I get the message that the VISS needs to shutdown first. I cannot shutdown VISS for whatever reason, (don't even have a shutdown button) and after attempting to exit VISS I get a message saying I must restart my computer to install VISS. My computer most of the time then freezes up. How do I shutdown VISS and uninstall it? I've been searching the internet an Verizon website for several hours now and have had no luck.

A:Verizon Internet Security Suite

Open task manager and go to the processes tab, look for VISS in the process list, highlight it and hit the end task button, now try to uninstall the software.

I looked through all of the other forums, and this still seems like the best place to ask my question.

I have cable internet provided through Comcast cable. I usually am able to browse anywhere on the web with absolutely no slow down or chugging, but I've noticed a serious problem today.

I usually have a ping of around 40-50ms, but I've been getting between 950-1000ms today. This is very noticeable, heh.

I haven't done anything different (However, Ad-Aware has found the first 'infections' it has since I purchased the computer a couple of months back) that I can think of.

I will see if cleaning up the infections makes a difference, but I'm not very hopeful. We'll see.

Just some information:

I'm using Vista SP1.
3 GB RAM.
Intel Core 2 Due 1.83 GHz.
I surf the web with Firefox 3.0.

Thanks for any help!

I'm looking for a way to get the fastest DSL I can out to my location in the east bay (Pleasanton, CA)

I've been shopping around and it seems thats yahoo/at&t/sbc (Whatever they call themselves now) is the only provider and they can get me a max of 6Mbps, meaning I'll get about 2-3 actual Mbps (They haven't ever filled our quota on bandwidth, seeing as how we have the 3Mbps package right now)

Our house isn't wired for cable so we can't get anything fast like comcast or roadrunner..

I'm hoping someone knows of a company that will be able to get me faster internet because everyone I talk to now days is downloading stuff at 3Megs a second and it just makes me mad that I pay $50 a month for something thats 1/4 of their speed.

Thanks a lot, your input is greatly appriciated.

Forgive my ignorance. I have been googling for 3 hours and still can't figure it out. It is this:

Is there a company that provides DSL service under $30/month without contract/fee/tax and I can use my own modem? Right now my monthly bill is $76 (with landline).

If such thing doesn't exist, could someone please consider starting it?

Thanks!

hi guys.. i got a new toshiba laptop a few months ago, and for some reason, my internet is excruciatingly slow.. speed tests show it at 1200kbs, whereas the average on the highspeed cable i have is supposed to be MUCH higher

also i'm pretty sure it's the computer, because even my iphone is running 2500kbs over wifi..

before you ask, windows firewall is off, and i'm using norton's firewall, but the settings seem to be okay (i.e. nothing is blocked). i'm running vista, DC, 2GB RAM..

i'm not sure what the hell is going on here, but you can bet it's frustrating when an iphone works faster than a $1000 laptop.. any other ideas here?? thanks..

A:freakin "high speed" internet

hello

has your laptop always been slow?
what is vista DC?
have you defraged?
have you updated to sp2?
are you wireless? have you tried using a hard wire directly to modem?
what browser do you use?
have you cleaned temp files?

norton is a resource PIG !!
2 gb RAM is on the low end for vista (should be fine for browsing & such)

Any comments appreciated!

Hi. I really want to protect my computer, and I'm not sure how. I am pretty sure there is some malware on my computer and I am panicking after the 60 Minutes special last night (sorry, I am in no way savvy enough to relax about this). I currently have AVG Free, but I would be willing to pay for the premium internet security edition if it is better protection. Also, as an optimum customer, I can get the CA Internet Security Suite for free. What should I do?

Thanks.

A:AVG Free/AVG Premium/CA Internet Security Suite??? Help!

Personally, I use the free AVG 8 antivirus, Zone Alarm firewall, Spybot search and destroy, Ad-aware, windows defender anti spyware. Have put same on several friends computers and as long as they keep the updates current and run the programs weekly
have had no trouble. A person has to be careful about what web sites they frequent too.
All the security programs I mentioned are free and available at www.majorgeeks.com or www.download.com.

Good afternoon all I'm in a little quandry right now I have an issue with my new custom-built machine see spec below where it freezes Verizon Security Suite Avg (radialpoint) Internet Vs. right after logon only Avg Vs. Verizon Internet Security Suite (radialpoint) on cold boots On warm boots it works fine Long story short I ran cCleaner and Verizon's Internet Security Suite stopped working So I uninstalled it and ran cCleaner twice again I cold-booted the machine and no problem I'm wondering if I should use Avg Vs. Verizon Internet Security Suite (radialpoint) AVG rather than the Verizon product I had gone with Verizon originally because the prior version was lean mean and never had any problems The current version has become more Norton McAffee-like meaning slow and probably causing all manner of problems Note that I do have the Verizon product on an AMD-based laptop and it functions fine Right now I'm using nothing but I don't want to do that for two long Thanks much Here is the hardware Spec XFX i mobo GB OCZ DDR tested with MS's RAM diagnostics and no errors Intel Core Duo E Ghz Processor CoolIT Eliminator CPU cooler Two Palit -GB NVIDIA video cards with SLI enabled Two Seagage GB SATA Drives One LiteOn DVD Burner IDE One Artec CD Burner IDE ONe Ultra Card Reader with USB Hub and Firewire CH Pro Flight Sim Yoke and Rudder Pedals Software XP Pro SP with all latest hot fixes MSIE FireFox latest Version MS Office Enterprise latest Service Packs and fixes DocuDesk Adobe Reader FSX X-Plane Pinnacle Studio Ultimate Audacity

A:Avg Vs. Verizon Internet Security Suite (radialpoint)

Update to this. I nosed around the site and saw some excellent freeware applications. For now, I'm running AVG free, Comodo, Spybot Search and Destroy and Hitware Lite for my antivirus, firewall, anti-spyware, and anti-pop-up solution. I'm taking a bit of a performance hit -- mostly from Spybot -- but my cold boot this morning did not immediately lockup. It did lock after 10 minutes though. AVG found and isolated a virus on my external disk, so for now I'm running a scan against my machine to see anything else is found.

What's interesting is that this free software found a virus. Meanwhile software that I've been paying for on a subscription and that is updated every three hours could not. And the computer was locking on cold boots at login every time the paid program initiated.

I use pccillin suite 2005, and i would like some people's opinions about it. i read a few articles comparing mcafee, norton, and pc-cillin, and pc-cillin always came out on top. of course, i also use ms anti spyware, spybot, ad-aware se, adsgone, spy doctor, etc etc etc

the program also updates like 5 times a day which seems pretty cool.

i have the other 2 programs i mentioned, and kaspersky, and panda as well, but they seem to conflict so i can only have one active at a time.

A:Pc-cillin Internet Security Suite 2005: Is It Ok?

Personally I use Kapersky the licenses is kinda of expensive but worth it Never had a virus or a TJ ever .. If I was recommending a antivirus it would be Kapersky or nod 32 free one would be Avast since there latest patch or AVG

You can check this site here it pretty good at telling you the best ones..

Tonight I received a prompt from ZoneAlarm Internet Security Suite to upgrade from version 70_462_000 to version 70_470_000. However, I did a Google search and discovered that three people had attempted the same upgrade earlier today only to encounter serious problems. Two mentioned that their systems locked up and one said his slowed to a crawl.

http://forum.zonelabs.org/zonelabs/board/message?board.id=inst&message.id=76709

After reading about these bad experiences, I'm not sure I want to try the upgrade. But if I do try it and find that it adversely affects my system, how would I go about reverting to the previous version?
Thank you

I have recently bought a new PC with Windows Vista I use Zonealarm Internet Security Suite and downloaded the new Vista version to enable me to make use of my Zonealarm subscription However while it runs OK after varying amounts of time I find that I cannot browse the web When I type in a new web address it either hangs as though its trying to connect to the page or I get a message saying something like trying to connect cannot connect to page can't remember the exact words I can still use Windows Mail and MSN still works The only way round this problem is to restart my PC and once it is reloaded I can access the internet again I tried uninstalling Zonealarm and just using AVG Suite/Vista Internet Security Zonealarm and I didn't get the same problem but since reinstalling Zonealarm the same things is happening again I did a search on this site and have seen a couple of people with a similar problem and from looking at their hijack logs can see that they run zonealarm too I'm searching the Zonealarm site forum for help but in the meantime can anyone advise or let Zonealarm Internet Security Suite/Vista me know why this is happening

A:Zonealarm Internet Security Suite/Vista

You've probably already checked these:
Is the Vista Firewall turned off?
Was there a previous suite installed that came with the new computer? Was it uninstalled completely using the company's removal tool?
Checked the firewall trusted zone? Got the loopback adapter and your network in trusted zone? DNS and DHCP in trusted zone if you're not behind a router?

Running Win98SE...purchased (CD) McAfee ISS7. When I try to install, it gives me a runtime error...and says "mis\enu missing"

I am at a loss...did AdAware, Spybot, closed all but Explorer, removed other programs and this should be a seemingly easy install.

Help, please?

Don't remove Layer Service Provider(LSP) .If one of these LSPs is removed incorrectly, that chain could become broken, possibly removing your ability to connect to the Internet or a network. You can use LSP-Fix to remove LSPs under advanced computer user.LSP-Fix attempts to correct Internet connection problems resulting from buggy or improperly-removed Layered Service Provider (LSP) software. When you start LSP-Fix, it will read the list of LSP modules from the Windows registry and verify that each module is present. If a module is missing, it is placed on the "Remove" list for removal. Advanced users can override suggested removals in the "Advanced" area. When "Finish" is pressed, the undesired entries are removed, and the remaining entries in the registry are renumbered to make them consecutive. The total module counts are then updated. Finally, the program will display a summary of the changes that were made. Usage Instructions:This program should only be used under the supervision of an advanced computer user. For a tutorial on how to use this tool see the link below:Using LSP-Fix to remove Spyware & HijackersI recommend visiting BleepingComputer's HijackThis forum.

PC has somehow been infected with a fake security program as noted above. I ran Malwarebytes and it identified and removed a number of infections, but upon reboot they began to reappear. There is a red "shield" logo with an X on it in the taskbar. Periodically, a "warning" will pop up, telling you about an attempted Identity theft detection and an option to Prevent Attack. Additionally, when you are surfing the Internet, a window will pop up for some website saying you can win a prize from Wal-Mart. Upon further review, it will redirect my Mozilla Firefox to random sites other than the Wal-Mart fake site.

Suggestions?

BTW, the system is Microsoft XP with SP 3.

Also, the Task Manager will not work via the CRTL-ALT-DEL keys.

Hi, I have an old toshiba satellite that has always been solid. It has a celeron 1.8MHz processor, w/ 256MB RAM and a 30GB HD. However recently it became infected with spyware. I downloaded CA Internet Security Suite, but as only the programs I downloaded such as Hijack This, Adaware Personal SE, Avast Antivirus, Spybot SD, Spywareblaster, and Comodo Firewall seemed to detect/fix problems, I want to uninstall it.
I attempted to uninstall in Add/Remove Programs, (before I downloaded Avast antivirus and Comodo Firewall) but when I rebooted it came back. Can you help? Thanks in Advance. I am new to the forum so hope I am doing this right...

Nah! The big download free button takes you here which has a comparison of free and pro version and says one could only download the free version. The internet security is not available for free, when you click "Get Pro" it asks you to buy the product for USD 59.95 and by the way Outpost is not a great security product I believe.

I just got an Acer Netbook. It came with lots of junk I want to remove including McAfee Internet Security Suite ver105221. I have not activated the subscription but believe I may be getting antivrus protection. I want to unistall the whole program.

I believe I should uninstall from control panel and then use the McAfree removal tool on their site MCPR.exe Is that correct? Does it matter that i didn't(and dont want to) activate the program? Anything else i should do?

Thsank you!

A:Uninstall McAfee Internet Security Suite

It doesn't matter if it is activated or not. It is probably a free trial. The removal procedure, as you describe it, is correct. Use add remove, run the removal tool, and reboot. Presumably you have another product with which to replace it.

Hello,

Okay I decided to update my Outpost Firewall and found that now they are offering Outpost 7.0 Internet Security Suite free edition too. This includes anti-virus, anti-spam and firewall.
Has anybody tried it? Does anybody know which anti-virus engine they are using? Google finds nothing about it.

Outpost firewall is already one of best firewalls. If the anti-virus engine is well reputed like Kaspersky then I will remove all else and install it

Thanks

http://free.agnitum.com/

PS: If nobody answers, I will install it on my XP and post more about it in few days after testing it out.

A:Outpost Free Internet Security Suite 7.0

Av engine is from Virusbuster, with agnitum's heuristics and anti-spyware engine added. AFAIK, Outpost will disable any/either of these during installation if you already have alternatives in place.Mini review HERE.

A:My Internet Crawls, And I Am Have Comcast High Speed

Hello chaldo and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I don't see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. It is clean.Internet speeds are dependent on many things. What is the ISP's rated speed? What is the modem's rated speed? What is the router's rated speed? Having a fast modem and fast router do not guarantee that they will work together at full speed. Try taking the router out of the connection and hooking the computer directly to the modem. If there is a measurable speed increase then the router is a bottleneck in the connection. If not, then either the modem or the line can be causing slower performance than what the ISP is stating as the speed. Something else to consider with cable is that the line is shared with all other users on that physical cable. If many people are hooked up on that cable segment and all of them are online at the same time then all users will have a performance hit. It's just the nature of cable. There is a bit of housekeeing that can be done so let's do that while you are here.Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:O2 - BHO: (no name) - {56F1D444-11BF-4879-A12B-79CF0177F038} - (no file)O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {62999427-33FC-4baf-9C9C-BCE6BD127F08} - (no file)O16 - DPF: {A7EA8AD2-287F-11D3-B120-006008C39542} (CBSTIEPrint Class) - http://offers.e-centives.com/cif/download/bin/actxcab.cabNow close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair. The HijackThis forum deals exclusively with virus and malware issues. HijackThis does not have the capability to analyze performance, hardware or application issues. For networking related issues I would suggest posting to the Networking forumThe techs in that forum specialize in matters pertaining to networking issues. Let them know that you have been to this forum and that no malware was found. When posting to any other forum, do not post a HijackThis log or the post will simply be moved back to this forum for infection analysis. That is what HijackThis is used for and that is what we specialize in here in this forum. Also, when posting in any other forum for assistance, give as much detail as possible regarding any issues that are occurring. The more information they have, the better the techs can analyze the issue and make any recommendations for resolving it.Cheers.OT

Hi

After my computer had a startup loop error, I reinstalled windows, and now i am having a problem with connecting to the internet!

When i go into Network connections, there is only the heading 'Dial up' and 'Broadband' when there used to be a heading of 'LAN and highspeed internet'.

When i try to set up a new connection it only seems to setup dialup!

I have tried ringing my ISP but they said its a problem at my end.

I am guessing here, but it seems to me as though my computer does not detect my internet connection and therefore needs a driver?

The internet is definately connected to the computer properly as all lights are signaled as normal.

Do i need to install something off microsoft to get this working?

I have an XP SP2.

Please help as i work from home on the internet every weekend and i am at work 2moro!!

Thanks x

I live in an area that does not have cables so I have to use just regular dial up slow crap. I'd like to get high speed internet but I can't unless I want to pay $70 a month. It's just not worth it. If anyone has any suggestions to getting high speed internet without moving or paying an unreasonable amount. I'm listening.
