Preferred Solution: Fake 'System Error!' message

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/directdownload.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My laptop was recently infected by iespyware. I found info to remove it from my files, processes, and registry. It no longer pops up on my machine, but when I use google there is a false error message about an infection that tries to reload that same crap again. It appears in the list of sites whenever I do a search, and also, a simple message in a box appears with an error tone when I go to a link or move from site to site. It seems to be the last residue of the iespyware infection. I have scanned my machine using Spyhunter, copied the list of registry items, and removed every one of them. This yeilded a number of them not listed in the fix lists online. Yet it persists.

What am I missing?

Please close topic. Malwarebytes finally was able to clean this after several reboots. Just curious, any thoughts on which trojan/virus this was based on the description? Just want to educate myself about it. Thank you.

First off hello everyone Now I don't have much time so I'll be quick Yesterday evening a popup window came up while I was browsing through my files in Explorer It says that Windows' system files are corrupt and are infected with a trojan and that it is recommended to download antispyware software Two buttons Yes and No Pressing No FireFox opens and a download page for a shady IEvir opens The system error window can't be closed unless I stop To System Dl Error (leads Ievir) Fake it in Task Manager and then Explorer crashes too Now I always have both antivirus AVG Free latest version constantly updated and Zone Alarm also latest on all the time and I scan the computer regularly Ad-Aware AVG TuneUp for defrag and Fake System Error (leads To Dl Ievir) other misc stuff So I did thorough scanning with both AVG and Ad-Aware and they found mainly tracking cookies but there were - Trojans on different accounts mainly my parents' account I got rid of them but the window still comes up randomly while opening folders in Explorer There are Fake System Error (leads To Dl Ievir) no other problems so far Is this one of those Smitfraud things I've browsed through the forums here a bit and I think it's most likely one of those Should I follow the instructions over here Thanks in advance EDIT Oh almost forgot an icon appeared of the mentioned IEvir on the desktop - looks similar to the icon for Windows Security Center I removed it didn't appear again so far Also I'm on Windows XP Home SP

A:Fake System Error (leads To Dl Ievir)

Hello let's not post a HJT log yet.First are you running 2 AV actively? If so you should stop one it will cayse slowness and other scanning problems. If you know the trojan names we could tell you if they are smitfraud. Please do this next:Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware and save it to your desktop.alternate download link 1alternate download link 2Make sure you are connected to the Internet.Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application. When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings. When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:Update Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareLaunch Malwarebytes' Anti-MalwareThen click Finish.MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue. If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install. On the Scanner tab:Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected. Then click on the Scan button. If asked to select the drives to scan, leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button. The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient. When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected. When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.Copy and paste the contents of that report in your next reply and exit MBAM.Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

A:[SOLVED] S.M.A.R.T Check with fake system error write command messages

Hello,

I got a little impatient so I mucked around with my not-working laptop. The desktop was blacked out, no icons on there and nothing on Start menu or All Programs. I right clicked on All Programs and clicked Explore and out came the normal windows everyone sees to open files but all the files were hidden. I suspect the virus hid everything to make it seem like everything was deleted or gone. I opened Firefox and downloaded MBAM to do a scan. I'm a bit afraid to start deleting the 30 infected objects in case it leaves my computer in limbo i.e. no virus but not normal and still with all hidden folders and stuff. I'm posting this to see if this extra information helps with the virus removal or if its just as easy as MBAM: scan, remove and problem solved.
(At least now I know how to get in and get some work done while I wait for the experts to reply.)

Everytime I start up my desktop, a fake windows security center message comes up trying to get me to install a fake protection system software. When this windows security center message comes up, it also adds three shortcuts to my desktop to porn sites. This virus is hindering me from using various software such as Malwarebytes, Spybot, and it wont let me install Hijack this. Also, this virus is making Internet Explorer practically unusable (using Safari right now). Please help me, it would be greatly appreciated.

I forgot to put this, but I am using Windows XP
One of the sample messages from Security Center Alter asks if I want to block a suspicious software called Trojan.Win32.Agent.dcc. This "Alert" has popped up many time, but warning me about different trojans.
Also, in the lower-right tray, messages are continuously coming up saying stuff like keyloggers, exploits, and etc have infected your computer.

Hello and welcome to the forums! My secret agent name on the forums is SweetTech (you can call me ST for short), it's a pleasure to meet you. I am very sorry for the delay in responding, but as you can see we are at the moment being flooded with logs which, when paired with the never-ending shortage of helpers, resulted in the delayed responding to your thread.I would be glad to take a look at your log and help you with solving any malware problems. If you have since resolved the issues you were originally experiencing, or have received help elsewhere, please inform me so that this topic can be closed. If you have not, please adhere to the guidelines below and then follow instructions as outlined further below:Logs from malware removal programs (OTL is one of them) can take some time to analyze. I need you to be patient while I analyze any logs you post. Please remember, I am a volunteer, and I do have a life outside of these forums.
Please make sure to carefully read any instruction that I give you. Attention to detail is important! Since I cannot see or directly interact with your computer I am dependent on you to "be my eyes" and provide as much information as you can regarding the current state of your computer.
If you're not sure, or if something unexpected happens, do NOT continue! Stop and ask!
In Windows Vista and Windows 7, all tools need to be started by right clicking and selecting Run as Administrator!
If I instruct you to download a specific tool in which you already have, please delete the copy that you have and re-download the tool. The reason I ask you to do this is because these tools are updated fairly regularly.
Do not do things I do not ask for, such as running a spyware scan on your computer. The one thing that you should always do, is to make sure sure that your anti-virus definitions are up-to-date!
Please do not use the Attachment feature for any log file. Do a Copy/Paste of the entire contents of the log file and submit it inside your post.
I am going to stick with you until ALL malware is gone from your system. I would appreciate it if you would do the same. From this point, we're in this together ;)
Because of this, you must reply within three days failure to reply will result in the topic being closed!
Lastly, I am no magician. I will try very hard to fix your issues, but no promises can be made. Also be aware that some infections are so severe that you might need to resort to reformatting and reinstalling your operating system.
Don't worry, this only happens in severe cases, but it sadly does happen. Be prepared to back up your data. Have means of backing up your data available.____________________________________________________Rootkit UnHooker (RkU)Please download Rootkit Unhooker from one of the following links and save it to your desktop.Link 1 (.exe file)Link 2 (zipped file)Link 3 (.rar file)In order to use this tool if you downloaded from either of the second two links, you will need to extract the RKUnhookerLE.exe file using a program capable of extracing ZIP and RAR compressed files. sub-forum: guides & solved issues

The above forum has information on how to use Recovery Console & Windows XP CD to restore the OS. Caution, I recommend full backup to a 2nd disk. Caution, don't enter 'r' to the first decision point. Caution: next decision made should not reformat the partition. If you have the ability to clone the hard drive, then you have a spare should recovery be re-done.

Other posts recommend configuring computer to a minimum: the boot hard drive, cdrom, and 1 memory module (256MB is the minimum for XP). This is an easier first step before reloading anything.

Caution: oem restore bombs you back to out-of-the-box conditions. All data & applications are overwritten. This is different from above restore.

You did not indicate what significant changes occurred preceding the problem. Is the hard drive entering old age? Was the disk re-partitioned? Were applications closing/freezing in the days leading up to this?

Hello all, I am new member and I have a problem that I can't seem to figure out! Please help me

Here is the wording of the error message:

Cannot find a device file that may be needed to run windows or a windows application. The windows registry or system.ini refers to this device file, but no longer exist. If you deleted this device file on purpose, try un-installing the associated application using it's uninstall or set up program. If you still don't want to use the application assoiciated with this device, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file.
C: PROGRA ~1\SYMANTEC/SYMEVNT.386

Since I bought Norton Internet security 2004, it has been a major problem. I have used the RNAV.2003 program to try and remove anything symantec on my PC. But for some reason, the problem is still here.

PLEASE HELP!

Thanks.

A:SYSTEM.INI error message

Since you didn't mention what version of windows you use, i'll assume it's windows98.
In that case, check the autoexec.bat and config.sys files for symantec entries ( usualy those are left behind ) and put a rem in front of symantec entry
for instance if you see in the autoexec.bat file the following entry
C:\Progra~1\Symantec\Symevnt.368
put a rem in front of it, and it should look like this
rem C:\Progra~1\Symantec.....
Save and exit.
If that doesn't work , then use the search tool in windows and locate the System.ini file
Once you locate it, go are and open it up with notepad. Once open locate the C:\Progra~1 entry and delete it ( i recomend, making a backup copy of the system.ini file before anything else).
Save and exit ( make sure the file type will be " All files" not " . txt ( since notepad will try to save it as system ini.txt file.

Hi seijuro_hiko

Welcome to TSG!

I have split your post off into your own thread and moved it to the Security foeum. In the future if you have a Question/Problem please start a "New Thread". It get's too confusing trying to address two different people's problem in the same thread and you may get overlooked.
Please do this. Click here to download Hijack This. Un Zip it and click on the Hijackthis.exe.

Click the "Scan" button when the scan is finished the scan button will become "Save Log" click that and save the log.

Go to where you saved the log and click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" then Paste the log back here in a reply.

DO NOT have Hijack This fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required. Someone here will be glad to advise you on what to fix.

*Note: When you download Hijack This Do Not download it or UnZip it to a temp folder or to the desktop. Create a permanent folder somewhere like in My Documents and name it Hijack This and put it in that folder.

A:Error message when trying to update to Windows 10 or to reinstall operating system 8.1: We couldn't update the system reserved partition."

On MBR disk, Windows 10 requires a 500MB system reserved partition, while 100MB in Windows 7, so you can try to extend system reserved partition.
In disk management, you can only extend partition using the unallocated space next to its right side. so even if you shrink D: drive, the option to extend the efi partition is still grayed out. My suggestion is to use a third party software, AOMEI Partition Assistant, both the standard (free) or the Professional(paid) version can extend partition as long as there is unallocated space on that hard drive. to see more information read:

Sounds like you may have spyware.

Try running a good antispyware program.

Have you looked for a patch for the program? Sometimes also Windows will have an update that will fix compatibility problems with certain software, but I think a patch for the program would be more likely. You may end up having to change some settings somewhere, but I don't know what that would be. Also make sure that your graphics/physics card has the latest stable drivers, as a last resort (I say last resort because sometimes earlier versions of a driver can work better with some programs than newer ones).

"Not enough storage is available to process this command."

This error message has recently started to appear after logging out of one desktop and trying to log onto another (It's a family computer with a desktop for each of the 4 of us.)

What happens next is really bizarre. When you try to log on to a desktop, the enter a password box appears. We have not set any passwords.

I suspect a virus is at work, but my up-to-date BitDefender Total Security 10.0 finds nothing.

I am getting an error message: System32\Drivers\Ntfs.sys
Do I have to have the same XP disk, or can I use another? Can I get this lost or corrupt file online?
Thanx, in advance

I engaged the Microsoft chat service to fix system restore. I can't create a restore point. I tried sfc; chkdsk with /f; Microsoft virus scan; group policy; and a lot other solutions. Microsoft said they would fix the problem for $99.00. I think the error message pertains to a Visual Studio or VB application. My C# and C++ are kind of rusty, but if thats what it takes, so be it. Can anyone make sense of the error message? The only alternative is to pay the $99.00.

A:System Restore Error Message.

Hi dittybop

From what I can see, you're trying to use System Restore Manager v2.0 to do a "System Restore". This isn't the built-in feature of Windows. Did you try using the built-in feature of Windows instead and see if it works? The issue right now is the program that you're using to create the Restore Point, not the System Restore service itself.

Hi! I've been getting the following message periodically - "C:Windows\System32\Autoexec.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS & Microsoft Windows applications."

It didn't seem to be affecting anything until I tried to open a CD-ROM this morning, and got this message. I can't open the CD or its files. How do I fix this?

This installation program will reinstall the missing or corrupt Windows XP system files command.com, autoexec.nt and config.nt. The absence or corruption of one or more of these files causes a "16 Bit Subsystem" error.

I have an hp Pavillion 9700 series with a new hard drive and I ordered recovery discs to restart the system. I tried the first disc(1 of 2) and got the Error: 0x4001100200001004. Tried again and got the same. I tried the other discs and got Operating System Not Found from disc 2 of 2 and Boot Manager missing for the Applications and Drivers recovery disc. I have no clue what to do. Can anyone help?

You ordered new recovery discs from HP?

I only found 1 other report of that specific error code - http://..../hewlett-packard/11987-hp-tx1000-....

Who installed the new HDD?
What kind is it?

I recently replaced an ailing fan in my machine and now I am getting an error message when I boot saying there is no system fan detected. The reason being is because the old fan plugged directly into the mobo and the new one uses a four pin molex connector which plugs into the power supply. I think the only cure is to splice the old connector onto the new fan so I can plug it back into the mobo but the problem is the old fan uses three wires(white, black, and red) and the new fan has only black(-) and red(+). What is the white wire for? Can I just use black and red and omit the white? Or is there some other way to hide or block the error message? By the way, the fans ARE working.

Hi I was wondering if anyone could assist me in figuring out a problem with a computer running Windows The OS hangs once per day There is no error message it just hangs after about mins from starting the computer and only once per day after per day, error hangs message once no System I reboot the system no longer hangs It also seems like it's a problem with windows explorer because sometimes the task bar becomes unresponsive and I'm unable to use CTRL ALT DEL to bring up the task manager but I can still switch to open application windows for a minute or two and they work normally until the system hangs completely I've looked at everything that I could think of and searched online for help Win is updated I've checked any weird applications or processes running I've checked the task scheduler to see if anything strange was set to run on boot up once per day I downloaded every troubleshooter I could find on the Win site no problems were detected I used disk clean up I checked for any security problems The only thing I didn't try System hangs once per day, no error message was to restore the installation because the computer had an OEM installation of Win Vista which I later upgraded to Win so I only have the Win update DVD and I'm not sure that'll work or if I have to create some installation discs somewhere The curious thing is that I checked for recently updated software and basically uninstalled everything that I had updated the last few months Java plugin Microsoft NET and Flash This seemed to fix the problem and I had no need for any of those so all good But two weeks later the problem returned So I have no idea Maybe I have some weird trojan on the computer and the person exploiting it went on vacation for two weeks in August Can you help or give me any pointers Please let me know if you need me to post any information Thank you very much

A:System hangs once per day, no error message

Have you tried booting to Safe Mode and wait 15 minutes?

You could also try a Clean Boot: How to perform a clean boot in Windows

Safe Mode runs with minimum requirements, drivers etc.
Clean Boot assumes Windows itself isn't the problem and runs without 3rd party stuff.

You could also try Process Explorer from Sysinternals(Microsoft). It'll list all running processes and has an option to check each file on VirusTotal, a multi-engine scanner with 50+ AV's. If you launch it as Administrator it will check all processes incl. those running as system and with high integrity. If the VirusTotal column shows for example 0/55 it means no AV detected anything out of 55 different AV's. If any process shows something else than 0 you can click on it to view the report on VirusTotal. See the report to find out if perhaps it's a false positive or a malware. Process Explorer

When I start XP and try to boot into regular mode I receive an quot Operating System not found quot message after the black red quot COMPAQ quot screen and when I try to boot into Safe Mode it just restarts without that System Operating error message message Here's what preceded this I downloaded a program called ivx which I downloaded to watch mov files on Windows Media Player Not long after installing it Comodo popped up with the regular Internet Explorer quot Allow-Deny quot message it usually does when something wants to access the internet and Operating System error message it was in relation to vix It had the Operating System error message x in the message it usually has when it's suspicious of a program's intention Sorry I forget exactly what the message was I clicked Deny and afterward couldn't connect to the internet with IE I clicked Allow when it popped up again shortly after and was able to access it just fine A while afterward I saw an icon of an exclamation point in a yellow triangle in the Taskbar which I couldn't right or left click I was about to shut down some programs to reboot and then the computer froze I turned it off manually and when I turned it back on I got the message mentioned in the first paragraph I'm not sure if vix had anything to do with it but I figured it was important to mention anyway since it was preceding this problem

Every time I have tried to use system restore since downloading Service Pack 2 I get an error message that the system restore was incomplete and cannot be done because "no changes have been made to my computer." Anybody know what is going on and how I can get system restore working again?

A:System restore error message

one option is uninstalling sp2, but I hear that may cause even more problems regarding your exact current situation......
or
system restore troubleshooting
Open a command prompt window. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Click Start, click Run, and then type CMD.
2. Press ENTER, and then type Net Start at the command prompt to make sure that the System Restore service is up and is running.
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_restore.htm

also this;
Start the System Restore tool at a command prompt
1. Restart your computer, and then press F8 during the initial startup to start your computer in Safe Mode with a command prompt.
2. Log on to your computer with an administrator account or with an account that has administrator credentials.
3. Type the following command at a command prompt, and then press ENTER:

%systemroot%\system32\restore\rstrui.exe

4. Follow the instructions that appear on the screen to restore your computer to an earlier state.

In the last couple of weeksI have been getting the following message:
"Please wait while checking system configuration" - in a pale blue box at startup. It sits on the top of all programs and will not turn off, even after a couple of hours, The rest of the operations work ok.

I have read an old thread on this in the forum, but it was never answered to my satisfaction, so I am asking again.

I have looked at the task manager - nothing runing
startup - no unusual programs
msconfig - startup - nothing unusual
device manager - no problem
Microsoft knowledge base - no help

It goes away if I reboot, but comes back the next day.
Any help appreciated, thanks

A:Error Message--System Recovery for HP

Hi,

The info at the HP support area for your a510n Pavilion computer

pertaining to computers that came with Windows XP installed:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...c=us&dlc=en&product=405460&rule=20711&lang=en

<There are several things that could be a problem when you try a System Recovery-

**Read down through all that- if you cannot get the Recovery to start either from within XP itself, or when you start up using the F10 key and tapping it repeatedly...then, do you have the set of Recovery disks? They may have come with the computer, but more than likely, you were supposed to make yourself a set using the Recovery CD or DVD Creator utility that *may* have come also with the computer....this is not true in some models, but there is one more thing if you don't have the Recovery CDs>

HP and Compaq Desktop PCs - Obtaining a Recovery CD or DVD set

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...143&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=405460&lang=en

**Follow what it says to do at that page to see if you can still get a set shipped to you- they are not expensive at all, around $23 for the last one I had to order....hope this helps!

On boot up, I get the following error msg-

Warning! Insert key pressed or Clock GEN. Watch dog reset.
Please enter them in setup, and save the settings before exit!

Pressing F1 makes it go away, and system runs as normal.
What does this mean, and how do I fix it(step by step).

Also, sites have appeared in my history in IE, I have not vewied these sights, and nobody else could have used the comp. As I have just got wireless broadband, could I have been "hacked", somebody else using my internet signal?? Could this history have come from other sites that i looked at, like a bahind the scenes type link or something?

I use Norton Antivirus, up to date.

These 2 problems started happening at the same time...

Thanks,

A:system halted error message

There are no "security" issues evident in the Scanlog.

In Win9x I've seen this "type" of error associated with web cam or usb related installations.

Did you install anything new recently? How long has it been happening?
Looking at your startups, I'd be suspicious of the scanner.

Probably useless, but interesting:

Hi
To cut a long story short, 4 days ago i got a virus which i have now got rid of but after doing a system restore managed to let the virus free. Lost MS Office XP.

Someone susgested I reinstall windows XP, which I did but only did a repair as it said I would lose things. Nothing has changed but while doing the repair I got this message.

1. failed to load the library C:\windows\system32\catsrv.dll,

Now I cant put on office suite back on, it comes up with Windows Installer and nothing happens.

I Am Running Xp Home Ed And This Message Comes Up Along With The Shut Down Notice In 60 Seconds. Rpc Service Terminated. Now The System Will Not Let Me Get On The Internet , I Am Using A Dsl Connection For This Problem Machine. If I Format The Harddrive Will It Get Rid Of The Problem Of Early Termination? Thanks Joe

A:Nt Authority \system Error Message

You probably have a virus, maybe Blaster.

First, you need to stop the shutdowns. When you see the notice, abort the shutdown. Go to Start > Run, and type:
shutdown -a
Click OK.

Then, go to Control Panel, Services and double-click the Remote Procedure Call. Click the Recovery tab and change each of the Failure boxes to "Restart the Service".

Follow the directions here to remove the worm:

http://www.helpdesk.gwu.edu/helpdesk/whatsnew/sum03/blaster.worm.081203.html

Update your anti-virus and do a complete scan.

I attempted a System Restore for 2 days back and received the message: SR did not complete successfully. Your computer's files and settings were not changed. Details: An unspecified error occurred during SR. You might want to try SR again and choose a different restore point."

Which I attempted two times and got the same message. Could someone please offer some suggestions? Thanks.

A:System Restore error message

Try the System Restore in Safe Mode.

The downside to this, if it works, is that no new checkpoint is created -- so if you wanted to undo it you would have to return to something other than the current date.

If it fails in Safe Mode -- you are probably out of luck as far as getting to work for existing restore points.

The fix is usually to turn it off, purging the entire cache, then turn it back on again.

At that time it should create a new restore point -- or you can create one manually and test it.

I am trying to reinstall windows xp to my emachines desktop with a system recovery disk but I get an error. First I put the recovery disk in a restart the computer. a screen that says press 'R' for system recovery options appears and I pressed 'R'. Then the screen says:
Press 'R' for standard eMachies System Recovery options. You will boot into recovery Partition or onto CD if no recovery partition is found.
Then I press R and a loading screen appears that has a PC Angel system recovery logo. The screen loads for a while, and then a blue screen saying:

After cleaning up the Balster Worm virus, I still get a virus warning pointinf at System Volume Information (se attached screen dump). The folder is protected. Any ideas?

A:System Volume error message

Er, no reply, so I thought I'd add some extra detail. AVG says it detects this residual effect of the Blaster virus, but cannot "heal" it. In terms of the System Volume Information folder, any ideas on how to access and delete files in that folder? There used to be old DOS tools that would enable you to do this kind of thing.

This is the first time my computer is having this problem. It randomly shuts down every 20-30 minutes or so. A screen comes on with a big "X" in a red circle that states "Please save your work as windows needs to shutdown. Windows must now restart because the DCOM Server Process Launcher service terminated unexpectedly."

It then says the shutdown was initiated by NT AUTHORITY/SYSTEM.

This is really annoying & frustrating as I'm constantly booted off my computer. It only gives you exactly 1:00 minute to save your work.

Can anyone tell how to fix this? I tried running a virus scan but it takes too long and it won't finish because my pc reboots before the scan is done.

Does this sound like an infection or could it be something else?

Thanks in advance for any advice or solutions.

A:System shutdown error message

What kind of anti virus software are you running? Norton, McAfee, AVG? Its possible this is a software and not a hardware problem.

my son switched on his laptop and got the error message.....I tried to press F8 but still says operating system not found....pressed F2 and it shows the BIOS Information with correct processsor and CPU Type and the time is running correctly......I checked to see if any connections loose...left battery off for a while but nothing......Any ideas as to why this would suddenly come up as not had any changes made to laptop for a good while and he was using it fine before he went out today....weird

A:operating system not found error message

The two most obvious answers would be that there is a DVD in the drive, which would prevent normal boot
The second is that the Hard drive has failed.
There are of course other possiblities, but those are the first two that come to mind.
There are of course many other possiblities , a few are:
MBR has become corrupt
The partion has become corrupt. This will require data recovery software.

I can solve this for you but my solution may lose all your stuff
Do you have stuff you want to save?

Boot to the Safe Mode menu screen by tapping the "F8" key repeatedly, immediately after power-on.

When at the menu, select "Use Last Known Good Configuration".

If that fails, run a System Restore to a date where the machine worked correctly.

Hello and welcome dynaclean mate have a loo to see if the fan is spinning. In a desktop this constant beeping is caused by non functioning fans. See if it is full of crud or something that is stopping it turn.

If it is that then it is probably over heating preventing the CPU from starting.

Hello and Welcome to Bleeping Computer!!My name is Gringo and I'll be glad to help you with your computer problems. I have put together somethings for you to keep in mind while I am helping you to make things go easier and faster for both of usPlease do not run any tools unless instructed to do so.
We ask you to run different tools in a specific order to ensure the malware is completely removed from your machine, and running any additional tools may detect false positives, interfere with our tools, or cause unforeseen damage or system instability. Please do not attach logs or use code boxes, just copy and paste the text.
Due to the high volume of logs we receive it helps to receive everything in the same format, and code boxes make the logs very difficult to read. Also, attachments require us to download and open the reports when it is easier to just read the reports in your post. Please read every post completely before doing anything.
Pay special attention to the NOTE: lines, these entries identify an individual issue or important step in the cleanup process. Please provide feedback about your experience as we go.
A short statement describing how the computer is working helps us understand where to go next, for example: I am still getting redirected, the computer is running normally, etc. Please do not describe the computer as "the same", this requires the extra step of looking back at your previous post.NOTE: At the top of your post, click on the Watch Topic Button, select Immediate Notification, and click on Proceed. This will send you an e-mail as soon as I reply to your topic, allowing us to resolve the issue faster. NOTE: Backup any files that cannot be replaced. Removing malware can be unpredictable and this step can save a lot of hartaches if things don't go as planed. You can put them on a CD/DVD, external drive or a pen drive, anywhere except on the computer. NOTE: It is good practice to copy and paste the instructions into notepad and print them in case it is necessary for you to go offline during the cleanup process. I just re-installed Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit onto my PC. I've also added a bunch of programs, files, etc. Also, there's a file called Windows.old on my C drive. Total size of my C drive is 115GB. I'm now trying to create a System Image to a brand new 2TB external hard drive. I keep getting this error message (see screenshot). Can anybody help me with this?

Thanks!

A:Trying To Create System Image, Getting Error Message

As a first operation I would delete the Windows.old folder - unless you still have to recover files from it.

Windows.old Folder - Delete

Then I would not image with the Windows 7 imaging. That is full of pitfalls. Use the free Macrium. It is a lot better and safer.

Hi,

I've been trying to get this pop-up off of my computer and I can't figure it how. I'm running Windows Visa SP1, and I acquired the Files Secure virus about 3 days ago. Files Secure is gone, but this pop-up is lingering. I've downloaded Spybot S&D and it got rid of a few problems. I've downloaded HJT and have a logfile. I'm running Norton antivirus and firewall and I have Windows defender. Neither Norton, Spybot, or Windows Defender can find anything harmful, but I still have the annoying pop-up warning me of a trojan on my computer. I work from my computer, so I could use a lot of help. Thank you.

I couldn't scan my computer with panda active scan because when the page popped up it wouldn't show anything for me to enter my data and get the free scan. i did download the spyware blaster and it is now running. i then downloaded zonedout and imported ie-spyad. when it had finished, however, it listed a few files instead of just saying "there were no failures!" i made sure the pc was up-to-date, and now i've finished scanning with deckard's system scanner and below was in the main.txt file. i appreciate any help.

Well my system specs are in my profile but I'll put them here for simplicity sake as well.
Asus P5N-T Deluxe
Q6600 @ 3.0 Vcore 1.20v
2 x 2GB Corsair Dominator RAM @ 1066
2 x 8800GT stock
Razer Barracuda AC-1
750watt Corsair PSU
3 HDDs and DVD drive

Okay before you go and say its my overclocked CPU its been oced for months now and the problem has only recently just started. It usually happens when I'm playing a game of some sort but at random times, I played CSS for a good 3 hours then it reboot, other time less than an hour. It has happened most recently when I booted up FEAR 2 and I was was tweaking the games settings, after I had it setup just right and clicked New Game, system reboots. Any thoughts?

A:System Reboots but no BSOD or Error message

Is the video card overheating? Open the case and make sure that all the fans (including video fan) are clean and working properly. I'll try overclocking my Q6600 when I install my new motherboard next week
